Skeletal muscle mass and distribution in 468 men and women aged 18-88 yr.   总被引:3,自引:0,他引:3  
We employed a whole body magnetic resonance imaging protocol to examine the influence of age, gender, body weight, and height on skeletal muscle (SM) mass and distribution in a large and heterogeneous sample of 468 men and women. Men had significantly (P < 0.001) more SM in comparison to women in both absolute terms (33.0 vs. 21.0 kg) and relative to body mass (38.4 vs. 30.6%). The gender differences were greater in the upper (40%) than lower (33%) body (P < 0.01). We observed a reduction in relative SM mass starting in the third decade; however, a noticeable decrease in absolute SM mass was not observed until the end of the fifth decade. This decrease was primarily attributed to a decrease in lower body SM. Weight and height explained approximately 50% of the variance in SM mass in men and women. Although a linear relationship existed between SM and height, the relationship between SM and body weight was curvilinear because the contribution of SM to weight gain decreased with increasing body weight. These findings indicate that men have more SM than women and that these gender differences are greater in the upper body. Independent of gender, aging is associated with a decrease in SM mass that is explained, in large measure, by a decrease in lower body SM occurring after the fifth decade.  相似文献

The aim of this study was twofold: (i) to describe the criterion-related validity of the sit-and-reach test (SRT) using a hand-held inclinometer when assessing hamstring muscle length (HML) when HML is recorded in degrees of hip joint angle (HJA); and (ii) to describe the effect of gender and age on HML in healthy adults during the performance of a SRT. We examined 212 healthy subjects (106 men and 106 women) whose ages ranged from 20 to 79 years. The Pearson-product moment correlation coefficient (r) described the relationship between HJA at the end-point of the SRT and the criterion, supine passive straight-leg raise (PSLR). We conducted a 6 x 2 analysis of variance, where age was stratified on 6 levels of 10-year increments (20-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60-69, and 70-79 years of age) and gender was stratified on 2 levels (men and women). There was a statistically significant correlation (r = 0.59, P < 0.01) between performance on the SRT as measured by HJA and the supine PSLR, but the SRT only accounted for 35% of the variability in the PSLR. SRT performance in men (mean +/- SD, 80 +/- 9 degrees) was significantly less (P < 0.001) than in women (mean +/- SD, 92 +/- 10 degrees). Subjects in the 60- to 69- and 70- to 79-year age groups had significantly less (P < 0.05) HJA than those in the 20- to 29-, 30- to 39-, and 40- to 49-year age groups. Using an inclinometer to measure HJA during the SRT is not a valid method for assessing HML in men and women who can independently assume a long-sitting position on a hard surface. Clinicians should recognize there are differences in HML between men and women, and that men and women between 20 to 49 years of age have more HML than their counterparts between ages 60 to 79 years.  相似文献

Plasma viscosity (PV), apparent whole blood viscosity (WBV), relative blood viscosity (RV) and erythrocyte deformability (filterability) (EDF) were determined in 13 New Zealand White (NZW) rabbits with alloxan induced-diabetes (AID) and 8 normal NZW rabbits, matched for age, sex and weight. AID rabbits were divided into two groups depending on the duration of hyperglycemia (long-term, greater than 6.0 months (n = 7), and short-term, less than or equal to 3.0 months of hyperglycemia, n = 6). Comparing long-term AID rabbits to normal animals, we found significant increases in WBV (P less than 0.001, 0.005 for high and low rates of shear, respectively), and a marked reduction in EDF (P less than 0.001). There was no significant difference in PV between long-term AID and normal rabbits. Conversely, PV was significantly increased in rabbits with short-term diabetes (P less than 0.01) while there was a concurrent significant increase in WBV measured at high and low rates of shear (P less than 0.001, 0.001, respectively). No difference was detected in EDF between normal and short-term AID rabbits. Furthermore, in long-term AID rabbits there was a strongly positive correlation between RV and reduced erythrocyte deformability (r = 0.94, P = 0.006) while WBV strongly correlated with PV (r = 0.92, P = 0.004) in the short-term AID subgroup. We conclude from these data: (1) elevated blood viscosity in long term AID rabbits is associated with reduced erythrocyte filterability; and (2) elevated WBV in short-term AID rabbits is associated with increased PV.  相似文献

Blood was collected from 486 feral horses of mixed sex and age classes captured from three wild horse management areas in Nevada and Oregon from December 1985 to February 1986. Males were significantly outnumbered by females in the Flanigan area, but both sexes were represented in approximately equal numbers in the Wassuk and Beaty's Butte areas. Hematology and chemistry values averaged 16.4 +/- 0.11, 46.3 +/- 0.28, 9.9 +/- 0.07, 6.9 +/- 0.10, 47.1 +/- 0.24, 16.6 +/- 0.09, 35.2 +/- 0.09, 10.4 +/- 0.14 and 23.4 +/- 0.25 for hemoglobin (HGB), hematocrit (HCT), red blood cells (RBC), white blood cells (WBC), mean corpuscular volume (MCV), mean corpuscular hemoglobin (MCH), mean corpuscular hemoglobin concentration (MCHC), cortisol (F) and serum urea nitrogen (SUN), respectively. Statistically significant differences in HGB, HCT, RBC, WBC, MCV and MCH levels occurred with respect to age (P less than or equal to 0.001). Serum F levels were lower in immature animals than in either subadult or adults in all areas. Flanigan horses appeared in the poorest condition and had the lowest HGB, HCT and RBC counts while the values for Wassuk horses were significantly higher (P less than or equal to 0.001). Serum F levels were lowest in the Flanigan horses. A significantly lower (P less than or equal to 0.001) proportion of adult mares had progesterone levels consistent with pregnancy in the Flanigan horses versus those from the other two areas. These data are consistent with a subjective evaluation of the condition of the horses.  相似文献

Environmental exposure to toxic levels of lead occurs in a number of industries with potential adverse effects on the reproductive capacity of exposed men. Clinical and animal studies indicate that abnormalities of spermatogenesis result from toxic lead exposure, but the pathogenetic mechanisms involved have not been identified. In order to ascertain what reproductive abnormalities occur in experimental animals when exposed to low levels of lead, 52-day-old animals were treated with water containing 0.0% (control), 0.1%, or 0.3% lead acetate for 30 days prior to killing. Whole blood serum lead levels were below detection (less than 7 micrograms/dl) in the control animals, 34 +/- 3 micrograms/dl in the 0.1% group, and 60 +/- 4 micrograms/dl in the 0.3% group (P less than 0.001). Significant negative correlations between whole blood lead levels and serum and intratesticular testosterone values were found (r = 0.64, P less than 0.001 and r = 0.6, P less than 0.001, respectively). As the level of lead exposure increased, intratesticular sperm counts significantly decreased (r = 0.81, P less than 0.001). No significant changes in serum luteinizing hormone (LH) values were found, but sperm follicle-stimulating hormone (FSH) values were significantly suppressed (P less than 0.05) after lead treatment. There was a significant decrease in ventral prostate weight (P less than 0.05), but no differences in testicular or seminal vesicle weights. Our data indicate that dietary exposure to lead resulting in whole blood serum lead values considered acceptable in the workplace (less than or equal to 40 micrograms/dl) causes inhibition of testicular function.(ABSTRACT TRUNCATED AT 250 WORDS)  相似文献

Although the threshold for electric current perception is of great importance for safety considerations and safety regulations, important aspects remain unsolved, e.g. the role of age or body size. In the present study measurements of the perception threshold were performed in 790 persons aged between 18 and 82 years randomly selected from the general population. For the first time, the composition and size of the sample were selected such as to allow extrapolation to the general population. The results reveal not only statistically significant gender differences in the perception threshold but also statistically significant relationships between perception threshold and body size. The assumption that the differences in body size between men and women are responsible for the gender-specific difference in electric current perception threshold was not confirmed in this study.  相似文献

Bi-iliac breadth, the frontal maximum diameter between right and left iliac crests, was measured in 1,547 male and 2,085 female residents of a rural area in Japan. All subjects were over 14 years of age. The bi-iliac breadth showed an increase related to age but little sex difference. Modification of age and sex variations from the measured value was obtained by calculation of the score, represented by arithmetical means and standard deviations. Distribution of these scores appeared to be binomial, and since binomial distribution approaches normal distribution when n is large, it is presumed that this trait gains normal distribution. Thus variation of bi-iliac breadth in subjects 20-79 years of age enables us to analyze inheritance. No significant difference was found between husband and wife in the correlation coefficients or between father and daughter (0.13 +/- 0.08). Significant differences were found as follows: father-son (0.35 +/- 0.05) (P less than 0.001), mother-son (0.28 +/- 0.05) (P less than 0.001), and mother-daughter (0.28 +/- 0.06) (P less than 0.001). There was no indication of maternal or paternal effects, since no significant difference was found in father-child and mother-child correlation coefficients. It is concluded that bi-iliac breadth is a quantitative genetic trait under control of polygenes on autosomes. Regression coefficient of child on midparental value was 0.55 +/- 0.05, approximately twice the means of four pairs of correlation coefficients between parent-offspring. Narrowly, heritability was estimated as 0.54 approximately 0.55. Contribution of dominance to total variance was small (VD = 0.11), in contrast to the larger additive genetic variance (VA = 0.54).  相似文献

Physicians'' response to acquired immune deficiency syndrome (AIDS) is poorly understood and often attributed to fear of human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) infection through occupational exposure. We surveyed 268 physicians from three geographic regions in North American with different specialties and responsibilities for HIV-positive patients. An important difference was found between the published risk and the physicians'' perceived risk of infection after a single occupational exposure. Almost half of the respondents stated that they feared contracting AIDS more than other diseases. The physicians who perceived themselves to be at high physical risk were more likely than the others to report that AIDS had changed the way they interact with their patients (r = 0.26, p less than 0.001). No relation was found between the perception of physical risk and the number of HIV-infected patients (r = -0.07, p = 0.15). However, the perception of social risk showed a small inverse correlation (r = -0.15, p less than 0.02), in which the physicians with more HIV-infected patients reported less concern about negative social consequences. The physicians who perceived themselves to be at high personal risk were more likely than the others to report that surgeons have the right to refuse patients who do not wish to undergo HIV antibody testing (r = -0.16, p less than 0.01 for physical risk; r = -0.29, p less than 0.001 for social risk). Multiple regression analyses indicated that physicians'' perception of physical risk was not related to age or sex but was modestly related to income source. The perception of social risk was related to sex and income source. Physicians'' perception of personal risk is a crucial, yet often unacknowledged, component of the fight against AIDS. Our findings suggest that lack of attention to this issue is seriously compromising initiatives designed to facilitate physician participation in AIDS care.  相似文献

The relationship of plasma levels of adrenaline, noradrenaline, arginine vasopressin (AVP) and plasma renin activity (PRA) to heart rate were studied in normoxaemic and hypoxaemic fetal, neonatal and adult sheep. The mean heart rate response of fetuses at the end of a 30 minute period of 10% oxygen delivery to the maternal ewe was tachycardia. However bradycardia, usually of a transient nature, was observed in 9 of the 12 fetuses (P less than 0.05). Multiple regression analysis was used to determine the contribution of blood gas, blood pressure and plasma hormone levels to the variance in heart rate in the perinatal sheep. 22% of the variance in fetal heart rate was provided by PRA and age from conception (P less than 0.001). Tachycardia was the invariable heart rate response of the neonates and adults to hypoxaemia. 61% of the variance in neonatal heart rate was contributed by PaO2, PaCO2, AVP, PRA and systolic blood pressure (SBP, P less than 0.001). PaO2 and plasma levels of adrenaline were significantly related to adult heart rate (P less than 0.001). Those fetuses which developed bradycardia had lower PaO2 but higher AVP and PRA during hypoxaemia than those which did not develop bradycardia. The major determinant of the area of the fetal bradycardia response was found, by multiple regression analysis, to be plasma adrenaline concentration (P less than 0.05). Thus different hormonal factors may play a role in the regulation of heart rate in normoxaemic and hypoxaemic fetal, neonatal and adult sheep.  相似文献

The objectives of this study were to (i) compare parent-reported height and weight to measured height and weight in children between ages 2 and 17 years, (ii) investigate correlations between magnitude of error of parent-reported data or refusal to estimate height and weight with gender, race/ethnicity, child's age, and age-specific BMI z-score, and (iii) determine sensitivity and specificity of identifying obese youth based on parent-reported data. The authors studied 1,430 consecutive outpatients between ages 2 and 17 years at an outpatient orthopedic clinic. At the initial visit, parents completed a questionnaire including their child's height and weight; height and weight were then measured. Mean height error was very small, with slight overestimation in boys and underestimation in girls. Mean weight error increased with age (P < 0.001), and girls had a larger mean weight error (1.29 kg, 95% confidence interval (CI): 0.65, 1.45) than boys (0.85 kg, 95% CI: 0.8: 0.58, 1.12). Mean weight error also increased with age-specific BMI z-score (r = 0.32, P < 0.001). Correlation between weight error and age-specific BMI z-score was higher among black children (r = 0.45, P < 0.001) than among Hispanic children (r = 0.37, P < 0.001) and was lowest among white children (r = 0.29, P < 0.001). Refusal or inability to estimate weight did not correlate with age-specific BMI z-score. Twenty-one percent of children who were obese would not be identified by using parent-reported data to calculate the BMI.  相似文献

Fourteen competitive cyclists who possessed a similar maximum O2 consumption (VO2 max; range, 4.6-5.0 l/min) were compared regarding blood lactate responses, glycogen usage, and endurance during submaximal exercise. Seven subjects reached their blood lactate threshold (LT) during exercise of a relatively low intensity (group L) (i.e., 65.8 +/- 1.7% VO2 max), whereas exercise of a relatively high intensity was required to elicit LT in the other seven men (group H) (i.e., 81.5 +/- 1.8% VO2 max; P less than 0.001). Time to fatigue during exercise at 88% of VO2 max was more than twofold longer in group H compared with group L (60.8 +/- 3.1 vs. 29.1 +/- 5.0 min; P less than 0.001). Over 92% of the variance in performance was related to the % VO2 max at LT and muscle capillary density. The vastus lateralis muscle of group L was stressed more than that of group H during submaximal cycling (i.e., 79% VO2 max), as reflected by more than a twofold greater (P less than 0.001) rate of glycogen utilization and blood lactate concentration. The quality of the vastus lateralis in groups H and L was similar regarding mitochondrial enzyme activity, whereas group H possessed a greater percentage of type I muscle fibers (66.7 +/- 5.2 vs. 46.9 +/- 3.8; P less than 0.01). The differing metabolic responses to submaximal exercise observed between the two groups appeared to be specific to the leg extension phase of cycling, since the blood lactate responses of the two groups were comparable during uphill running. Copper and calcium are essential for human growth and development. The present study was conducted to evaluate the relationship between calcium and copper levels, as well as their relationship to age and anthropometry in 180 preschool children ages 2-5?years old. Serum copper levels were inversely correlated with age (r?=?-0.184, P?=?0.032) and height (r?=?-0.175, P?=?0.043) in the whole group and with height for age Z score only in male children (r?=?-0.291, P?=?0.016). The correlation with age is not maintained when it is analyzed for gender. Serum calcium values in the total group were inversely correlated with weight (r?=?-0.153, P?=?0.044) and weight for height Z score (r?=?-0.246, P?=?0.001). No differences were found for gender in the levels of both metals. A negative relationship between serum calcium and copper was found only in male children (r?=?-0.339, P?=?0.005). Studies are required in other populations and experimental designs that can explain an inverse relationship between serum calcium and copper levels.  相似文献

The simultaneous effect of weight, initial density (kg/m3, temperature and O2 concentration on rainbow trout body composition (fat, protein, moisture and ash) has been studied. In 3 successive experimental phases fish were kept in different lots of varying initial weight (178-372 g), initial density (7.2-38.8 kg/m3) and temperature (15-20 degrees C). Simple correlations were statistically significant for weight vs fat (r = 0.56; P less than 0.001) and moisture (r = -0.57; P less than 0.001); temperature vs fat (r = 0.73; P less than 0.001) moisture (r = -0.73; P less than 0.001) and ash (r = -0.26; P less than 0.02); and O2 concentration vs fat (r = 0.22; P less than 0.05). Multivariant equations for the different compounds were obtained. Only fat and moisture percentages showed significant differences (rm = 0.75; P less than 0.00005); an inverse relation existing between them (r = -0.94; P less than 0.001). Temperature is the factor which has the strongest influence on fat and moisture when it varies simultaneously with weight, initial density and O2 concentration, which is shown by its equation coefficients (P less than 0.00005).  相似文献

Previous studies demonstrated elevated plasma leptin and angiotensinogen (PRA) levels in essential hypertension. However, a few studies investigated the relationship between leptin and angiotensinogen levels in both lean and overweight/ obese hypertensives. The aim of the present study was therefore to examine the relationship between blood pressure, leptin and plasma renin activity in normotensives and in both lean and overweight/obese patients with essential hypertension. Two groups of subjects who were carefully matched for age, gender, waist:hip ratio and body mass index (BMI) were studied: 28 normotensives (NT) (age: 40.1+/-9.1 years old, BMI: 28.1+/-3.6 kg/m2, male/female: 18/10) and 33 newly diagnosed mild to moderate essential hypertensives (EHT) (age: 38.9+/-10 years old, BMI: 27.9+/-4.8 kg/m2, male/female: 22/11). No significant differences in age, gender, waist:hip ratio, fasting blood glucose and BMI were detected between EHT and NT groups. However, systolic and diastolic pressures, mean arterial blood pressures, plasma leptin levels and PRA were significantly higher in EHT group than in NT group (P = 0.001). Plasma leptin levels were strongly correlated with BMI in EHT (r=0.67, P = 0.001) and NT groups (r=0.44, P = 0.001). Plasma leptin levels were correlated with plasma PRA levels in both EHT and NT groups (r = 0.66 and r = 0.44; both P < 0.05, respectively). There was no correlation between leptin or PRA and systolic, diastolic pressures, or mean arterial blood pressures. Furthermore, the patients were divided as lean (n=16) and overweight/obese (n = 17) and compared with BMI-matched controls. In both subgroups, plasma leptin and PRA levels were also higher than those of controls. Our results showed that elevated plasma leptin and PRA are associated with hypertension in both lean and overweight/obese hypertensives. Moreover, plasma leptin was significantly correlated with plasma angiotensinogen levels. These findings suggest that adipose mass is an important determinant of blood pressure, although the mechanism is not clear.  相似文献

Using a high-performance liquid chromatographic procedure, age- and gender-based reference ranges for plasma retinol, alpha- and gamma-tocopherol, lycopene, and alpha- and beta-carotene have been established. In addition to confirming higher retinol levels in men than in women (p less than 0.001), this study demonstrates significantly higher plasma levels of both carotenes in women than in men (p less than 0.001). The plasma levels of retinol and beta-carotene showed a positive relationship with age after adjusting for plasma lipids (p less than 0.001 and p less than 0.02, respectively). In contrast to beta-carotene, there was no gender difference for plasma lycopene and a strong (p less than 0.001) inverse relationship of lycopene with age. These results suggest that differences may exist between beta-carotene and lycopene in their intestinal absorption, plasma transport, or tissue metabolism.  相似文献

目的回顾性分析影响脐带血采集质量的母婴因素和采集处理因素。 方法记录389份脐带血的采集量、母亲年龄、孕龄、新生儿体重、分娩方式、新生儿性别、胎次及脐带血采集至计数间隔以及采集方式。用KX-21型全自动血液分析仪进行细胞计数并计算有核细胞总数(TNC)。采用Pearson相关和Spearman秩相关进行相关性分析,采用t检验、Mann-Whitney U检验、方差分析及Kruskal-Wallis H检验进行分组比较,分析影响脐带血采集量和TNC的相关因素。? 结果脐带血采集量与TNC显著相关(r = 0.723,P < 0.001),脐带血采集量大于80 ml时的TNC显著高于低体积者。在母婴因素中,母亲年龄与采集量及TNC差异均无统计学意义;孕龄与采集量负相关(r = -0.119,P = 0.019),而与TNC正相关(r = 0.138,P = 0.007),足月儿脐带血的TNC显著高于早产儿(P = 0.038);婴儿出生体重与采集量及TNC均正相关(r = 0.236,P < 0.001;r = 0.275,P < 0.001),体重较大婴儿脐带血的采集量和TNC均显著高于体重较小者(P?< 0.001);剖宫产的脐带血采集量虽高于阴道分娩(P < 0.001),但其TNC不及阴道分娩;男婴与女婴在脐带血采集量和TNC之间无显著差异。在采集处理因素中,脐带血采集至计数的时间间隔与采集量及TNC均无显著相关。 结论为提高脐带血的保存质量,应侧重选择胎儿体重较大、经阴道分娩的产妇作为脐带血供者,实验室应首先处理采集量较大的脐带血。  相似文献

Plasma clearance of triglyceride-rich lipoproteins appears decreased in aged humans and rats and may be due to lowered activities of the lipases responsible for lipid degradation. This study was designed to examine differential effects of age and diet on lipoprotein lipase (LPL) activity of adipose and heart tissue and hepatic triglyceride lipase (HTGL) activity. LPL and HTGL activities were examined in 3- and 13-month-old Sprague-Dawley rats after they had consumed either a high-carbohydrate or a high-fat diet for 14 days. The data were analyzed for age and diet differences by two-way analysis of variance. Although animals in the two age groups consumed diets of equal caloric content, the older rats gained less weight. Rats on the high-carbohydrate diet consumed less calories and gained less weight than the fat fed rats in both age groups. Neither heart nor adipose tissue LPL activity differed when examined for age or diet. HTGL activity levels, while not affected by age, were higher in the carbohydrate fed rats (P = 0.014). Regardless of age group, fasting plasma cholesterol levels were significantly higher in the carbohydrate-fed rats than fat-fed rats (P = 0.002). Thus, the diet effect was much stronger than the age effect for HTGL and plasma cholesterol levels.  相似文献

Blood samples were collected from primiparous sows via indwelling jugular cannulae at 15-min intervals for 12 h before and for 24 h (2 sows) or 48 h (10 sows) after weaning and then every 4 h until behavioural oestrus. Weaning to oestrus intervals ranged from 3 to 10 days and 2 sows showed no signs of oestrus and had not ovulated by Days 11 and 16 after weaning. Prolactin concentrations in plasma decreased significantly (P less than 0.001) and reached basal levels 1-2 h after weaning in all sows whilst plasma progesterone concentrations remained basal until approximately 30 h after the preovulatory LH surge in sows that ovulated. Elevated concentrations of prolactin or progesterone during the post-weaning period were, therefore, not responsible for delayed restoration of cyclicity. Overall, mean LH concentrations rose significantly (P less than 0.001) from 0.22 +/- 0.02 during the 12-h period before weaning to 0.38 +/- 0.03 ng/ml during the 12-h post-weaning period. After weaning, pulsatile and basal LH secretions were markedly increased for sows that showed an early return to oestrus (less than or equal to 4 days) compared with sows showing a longer weaning to oestrus interval but a correlation did not exist between either of these LH characteristics and the time taken to resume cyclicity. Mean LH concentrations before weaning were, however, inversely related (r = -0.649; P less than 0.05) to the weaning to oestrus interval. Overall, mean FSH concentrations rose significantly (P less than 0.001) from 151.1 +/- 6.2 (s.e.m.) ng/ml in the 12-h period immediately before weaning to 187.7 +/- 9.7 ng/ml in the subsequent 12-h period but there was no correlation between FSH concentrations, before or after weaning, and the interval from weaning to oestrus. However, a significant correlation was apparent between ovulation rate and peak concentrations of the rise in FSH after weaning (r = 0.746; P less than 0.05) and overall mean FSH values (r = 0.645; P less than 0.05). It is concluded that both LH and FSH concentrations in peripheral blood rose in response to removal of the suckling stimulus at weanling. Vibration of one hand reduces blood flow in the exposed hand and in the contralateral hand not exposed to vibration, but the mechanisms involved are not understood. This study investigated whether vibration-induced reductions in finger blood flow are associated with vibrotactile perception thresholds mediated by the Pacinian channel and considered sex differences in both vibration thresholds and vibration-induced changes in digital circulation. With force and vibration applied to the thenar eminence of the right hand, finger blood flow and finger skin temperature were measured in the middle fingers of both hands at 30-s intervals during seven successive 4-min periods: 1) pre-exposure with no force or vibration, 2) pre-exposure with force, 3) vibration 1, 4) rest with force, 5) vibration 2, 6) postexposure with force, and 7) recovery with no force or vibration. A 2-N force was applied during periods 2-6 and 125-Hz vibration at 0.5 and 1.5 ms(-2) root mean square (r.m.s.; unweighted) was applied during periods 3 and 5, respectively. Vibrotactile thresholds were measured at the thenar eminence of right hand using the same force, contact conditions, and vibration frequency. When the vibration magnitude was greater than individual vibration thresholds, changes in finger blood flow were correlated with thresholds (with both 0.5 and 1.5 ms(-2) r.m.s. vibration): subjects with lower thresholds showed greater reductions in finger blood flow. Women had lower vibrotactile thresholds and showed greater vibration-induced reductions in finger blood flow. It is concluded that mechanoreceptors responsible for mediating vibration perception are involved in the vascular response to vibration.  相似文献
