The comparative study of the aortic trunks of Dibamus (subterranean limbless Squamate) and of the other Squamata shows the presence of an original vascular organization in the serpentiform animals submitted to the subterranean life constraints as Scolecophidia, Amphisbaenia, Dibamidae, Anniellidae, Feyliniidae, and some Scincidae (genus Acontias and Typhlosaurus). Nevertheless, the morphology of the systemic and carotidian trunks supplies only few informations on the phylogenetical status of Dibamus.  相似文献

In the present study, relationships among three genera Acontias, Acontophiops, and Typhlosaurus, that comprise the South African limbless lizard subfamily Acontinae, were assessed with partial sequences of the 16S rRNA mitochondrial DNA gene. In addition, relationships within Acontias were further investigated using sequence data from the cytochrome oxidase I gene (COI). Maximum likelihood and maximum parsimony analyses of the 16S rRNA mtDNA data revealed that within this subfamily, Typhlosaurus is basal while Acontophiops and Acontias are sister taxa. Based on the 16S rRNA mtDNA data, the relationships within Acontias placed A. meleagris orientalis as the sister taxon of A. percivali tasmani, with A. m. orientalis lineacauda morph and A. m. meleagrus being the sister taxa to this group. The small-bodied skinks A. lineatus lineatus and A. l. tristis formed a monophyletic group, with the medium-bodied species A. gracilicauda gracilicauda being their sister taxon. Analyses of the COI gene for Acontias place A. m. orientalis as the sister taxon of A. p. tasmani with both A. meleagris meleagris and A. m. orientalis lineacauda being distinct. In contrast to the 16S rRNA mtDNA data, the COI data placed A. g. gracilicauda as the sister taxon to these medium-bodied species; while the subspecies status of the small-bodied taxa A. l. lineatus and A. l. tristis is reaffirmed. Combined analysis of both gene fragments for Acontias taxa recovered the same clades as found using only COI data. Systematic affinities in Acontias are discussed. These results indicate that Acontias is more species rich than previously thought.  相似文献

Partitioned Bayesian analyses of approximately 2.2 kb of nucleotide sequence data (mtDNA) were used to elucidate phylogenetic relationships among 30 scincid lizard genera. Few partitioned Bayesian analyses exist in the literature, resulting in a lack of methods to determine the appropriate number of and identity of partitions. Thus, a criterion, based on the Bayes factor, for selecting among competing partitioning strategies is proposed and tested. Improvements in both mean -lnL and estimated posterior probabilities were observed when specific models and parameter estimates were assumed for partitions of the total data set. This result is expected given that the 95% credible intervals of model parameter estimates for numerous partitions do not overlap and it reveals that different data partitions may evolve quite differently. We further demonstrate that how one partitions the data (by gene, codon position, etc.) is shown to be a greater concern than simply the overall number of partitions. Using the criterion of the 2 ln Bayes factor > 10, the phylogenetic analysis employing the largest number of partitions was decisively better than all other strategies. Strategies that partitioned the ND1 gene by codon position performed better than other partition strategies, regardless of the overall number of partitions. Scincidae, Acontinae, Lygosominae, east Asian and North American "Eumeces" + Neoseps; North African Eumeces, Scincus, and Scincopus, and a large group primarily from sub-Saharan Africa, Madagascar, and neighboring islands are monophyletic. Feylinia, a limbless group of previously uncertain relationships, is nested within a "scincine" clade from sub-Saharan Africa. We reject the hypothesis that the nearly limbless dibamids are derived from within the Scincidae, but cannot reject the hypothesis that they represent the sister taxon to skinks. Amphiglossus, Chalcides, the acontines Acontias and Typhlosaurus, and Scincinae are paraphyletic. The globally widespread "Eumeces" is polyphyletic and we make necessary taxonomic changes.  相似文献

The skull and trigeminal jaw adductor musculature of the lizard families Gekkonidae, Pygopodidae and Xantusiidae are described. The external jaw adductor shows a different structure in the Gekkonidae and Pygopodidae than is observed in other lizards, approached only by the Xantusiidae and Feyliniidae. Paedomorphosis seems to be involved in the differentiation of the jaw adductor musculature in the Gekkonidae. The Gekkonidae and Pygopodidae may be hypothesized to form a monophyletic group, the Gekkota, on the basis of numerous synapomorphies. Within the Gekkota, the Pygopodidae are the sister-group of the Gekkonidae and retain some plesiomorphous features which are absent in the latter. The Xantusiidae share few synapomorphies with the Gekkota on the one hand, and some with scincomorph lizards on the other, especially with the Lacertidae.  相似文献

The nasal capsule and nasal sac of Dibamus taylori are described based on a plate reconstruction of serially sectioned material and are compared with several other squamate taxa. The ethmoidal region of D. taylori is characterized by a short nasal vestibule, a well developed concha, a much reduced and nearly functionless Jacobson's organ, an incomplete nasal roof, and a true nasopharyngeal duct with a complicated secondary palate. Cartilaginous and epithelial structures of the ethmoidal region provide many informative and useful characters for a phylogenetic analysis. Different anatomical features of D. taylori are compared with other burrowing forms ( Acontias meleagris, Annietta, pulchra Voetzkowia mira, Feylinia curron ) and discussed functionally and phylogenetically. Phylogenetic analysis of all higher squamate taxa using 144 available data derived from many regions of the body indicates relative relationships as (((Dibamidae, Amphisbaenia) Serpentes) Scleroglossa).  相似文献

Mesopneumonia of 28 and lungs of 44 species of scincomorph lizards are described, representing mesopneumonia in six of the seven scincomorph families and lungs of all seven families of this taxon. Except for gymnophthalmids and scincids, a family typical organization of mesopneumonia occurs. In cordylids, gerrhosaurids, xantusiids and lacertids the complete right ventral mesopneumonium (VMp) inserts cranially on the posterior vena cava and caudally on the dorsal surface of the right liver lobe. The left VMp is attached to the ventrolateral body wall in cordylids and lacertids; in gerrhosaurids the left VMp is short and inserts on the pericardium and the posterior vena cava; in xantusiids the left VMp is reduced and the lungs are fused cranially with the pericardium. In scincids the VMp of both sides vary in length and insert on the ventral mesentery, or may be lacking completely. The visceral topology of the gymnophthalmids Calyptommatus and Notobachia differs from the general scincomorph pattern, with the liver and stomach elongated and situated on the right and left side of the body cavity, respectively. The left and the right VMp extend over the entire length of the lungs and insert on the ventral mesentery. All lungs examined in the study are single-chambered and show no major structural variability of the inner surfaces, except in lacertids, some gerrhosaurids, Cordylus, and two genera of gymnophthalmids (Echinosaura and Neusticurus). Despite recent molecular systematic studies on the fossorial southern African skink subfamily Acontinae, evolutionary relationships among the three genera remain unresolved and disputed. Among these, the most recent study suggests that both Typhlosaurus and Acontias are paraphyletic, contrasting earlier results that suggest the presence of two divergent clades within Acontias. Here we further investigate the evolutionary relationships in the limbless fossorial southern African subfamily Acontinae with partial sequenced data derived from four mitochondrial loci (16S rRNA, 12S rRNA, cytochrome oxidase I and cytochrome b), as well as two nuclear protein coding loci (c‐mos and RAG‐1), in an attempt to clarify evolutionary relationships. Phylogenetic results derived from combined data analyses (comprising all six loci and totalling ~3.1 kb) using maximum parsimony, maximum likelihood and Bayesian inferences converged on the same topology. The resulting phylogeny showed Typhlosaurus as monophyletic, while the monotypic genus Acontophiops was nested intermediate to two reciprocally monophyletic Acontias clades. These two Acontias clades can be distinguished on the basis of a number of morphological, morphometric and biogeographical characters, underscoring the presence of two distinct groups. In the present study, we propose the following taxonomic changes based on the multilocus phylogeny. We retain the genus name Acontias for the medium‐ and large‐bodied skinks in clade 2 comprising all taxa in the Acontias meleagris complex as well as Acontias plumbeus, Acontias gracilicauda gracilicauda, Acontias breviceps, Acontias percivali percivali and Acontias percivali occidentalis. We designate a new genus Microacontias gen. nov. for the reciprocally monophyletic taxa in clade 1 comprised of all the small‐bodied taxa that include Microacontias litoralis, Microacontias lineatus lineatus, Microacontias lineatus grayi and Microacontias lineatus tristis. We examine the evolution of characters used in the taxonomy of the Acontinae and suggest that symplesiomorphic morphological characters among fossorial taxa have been an impediment to understanding the evolution of this subfamily. This study underscores the importance of the application of multiple molecular markers (both nuclear and mitochondrial) in determining the taxonomic diversity among fossorial skinks and emphasizes the application of phylogenetics in defining synapomorphic (shared derived) features.  相似文献

Subspecies in the limbless, endemic African fossorial skink genus Acontias constitute ill-defined operational taxonomic units, consequently considerable systematic debate has lingered on the systematic diversity within Acontias. In the present study, the systematic affinities among acontine taxa are explored with the utility of partial sequence data from two mitochondrial gene loci (16S rRNA and cytochrome oxidase subunit 1 (COI)) for all taxa, while two additional loci (12S rRNA, cytochrome b) were used to investigate relationships within the Acontias meleagris complex. Phylogenetic results, derived from the combined analysis, revealed two monophyletic clades. Clade 1 is comprised of small-bodied skinks while clade 2 comprised the medium bodied skinks. Within clade 2 none of the traditionally recognized subspecies formed reciprocally monophyletic groups. Furthermore, constraining the topology and enforcing sister taxa relationships between the assumed subspecies, consistently recovered a topology that was statistically significant worse, indicating that the traditionally designated subspecies groupings probably represent invalid taxonomic units, thus clearly reflecting considerable discord with current taxonomy. The burrowing life style of these lizards has probably led to marked convergent evolution and constrained the development of diagnostic morphological characters among these species. Morphological similarities in color as well as scale architecture within Acontias are labile and highly homoplaseous and do not reflect the evolutionary history of the group. Taxonomic implications of these results are discussed.  相似文献

We compared the eye anatomy of the scotopic fossorial Acontias orientalis, Acontias rieppeli and Typhlosaurus vermis with that of the photopic surface-living Trachylepis punctatissima, with particular reference to the retina. The findings were compared with published data on gecko species (Röll, 2001), to determine whether similar trends existed. The vestigial eye of T. vermis was not comparable with that of the other three skink species. The findings in A. orientalis, A. rieppeli and T. punctatissima were as follows: (a) A. rieppeli lacked a conus papillaris, (b) A. orientalis, A. rieppeli and Tpunctatissima were pure-cone species but lacked a fovea, (c) estimated cone density in A. orientalis and A. rieppeli was lower than that in Tpunctatissima, (d) the ellipsoid cone segment was smaller and the paraboloid segment larger in A. orientalis and A. rieppeli with the reverse in Tpunctatissima, (e) VCL%, ONL%, OPL% and GCL% in A. orientalis and A. rieppeli were significantly greater than that of Tpunctatissima, (f) INL% and IPL% in T. punctatissima was significantly greater, and (g) T. punctatissima had abundant Müller cells and fibres. Findings in the gecko species were congruent with those of the three skink species of the present study.  相似文献

On the systematic position of the amphisbaenians The hemipenis of amphisbaenians has scincomorph characteristics, e. g. plicae and microscopic spiny epithelium. In plesiomorph forms (Bipes, Blanus) the apex is simple, in apomorph forms (Trogonophis) it is forked. The genus Amphisbaena has a variable hemipenis morphology. The species from the Antilles are clearly differentiated from those of the continent, the latter resemble Leposternon more than their Caribbean congeners. The resemblance between hisbaenians and scincomorph lizards, especiall teiids, in mode of development of the orbitosplenoid (Bacbia: Bellairs and Gans 1983) and in the mode of lung reduction (Bacbia: hoc loco) is congruent with resemblance in hemipenis characters. These resemblances are considered to be synapomorphic, not convergent.  相似文献

A cladistic analysis of Lophopidae was performed, using 73 observed morphological characters and 41 taxa. This analysis involved 36 genera belonging to the Lophopidae family and 5 outgroups. For a better understanding of the selected characters some illustrations are provided. The most parsimonious cladograms obtained show that the Lophopidae cannot be considered as a monophyletic lineage unless two genera are withdrawn from this family: Hesticus Walker, 1862, and Silvanana Metcalf, 1947. The systematic position of these two genera remains uncertain. They cannot yet be included in another family of Fulgoromorpha. A cladistic analysis of each of the 19 remaining Fulgoromorphan families must be performed first. A new family could be created for these two genera, but not before we are sure that these two genera are in no way members of an existing family. The outgroup problem is discussed. The monophyletic lineage represented by the Lophopidae can be divided into four natural groups: Carriona+, Makota+, Sarebasa+, and Bisma+. When a cladistic analysis is completed using a data matrix without characters linked to females, the cladogram obtained presents a disrupted basal resolution. Female characters appear to bring a phylogenetic signal important basally in the evolution of the Lophopidae but also apically, directly between the relationships of some genera. A similar analysis, using a matrix without characters linked to males, provides a phylogeny disrupted between the groups that form the Lophopidae and in the basal resolution in these groups. The respective impacts of the genitalic characters are discussed in relation to sexual selection conflict.  相似文献

Stephenson (1930) recognized 15 genera, and Hrabě (1936 to 1963) has distinguished 17 genera of Lumbriculidae, a family of freshwater Oligochaeta. On the basis of the form and arrangements of the parts of the genital system, a scheme is suggested in which 12 genera of Lumbriculidae are recognized. These genera are defined and a key erected for their identification. Reasons for removing Dorydrilus Piguet, 1913 from the Lumbriculidae are presented and the family Dorydrilidae fam. n. is defined to accommodate the genus.  相似文献

Pollen of 34 species from 7 genera of the Liliaceae were examined by LM and SEM with respect to the taxonomy of the family. Detailed pollen­morphological characteristics are given for all genera in the family on the basis of the results presented here together with data from the literature. The genera Tulipa and Lilium are heterogeneous in both aperture type and exine ornamentation. Pollen of Tulipa is monosulcate, 3-aperturate or inaperturate, with a microreticulate-striate, reticulate-implecto-striate, scabrate, perforate-rugulate, perforate-striate exine surface. Pollen of Lilium is monosulcate and 3-porate with a macroreticulate exine. The other genera are homogeneous in possessing of single longitudinal aperture (type monosulcate). The pattern of exine ornamentation and the structure of the aperture and its membrane are peculiar features for species and genera. Pollen of Erythronium and Tulipa are occasionally operculate, while in other representatives of the Liliaceae an operculum is lacking. Pollen morphological data support the division of the family into 3 tribes, namely Lloydieae, Lilieae, and Tulipeae.  相似文献

We report on the first detailed study of the atlas–axis complex in the lizard clade Dibamidae, a family of poorly known fossorial squamates distributed in tropical or subtropical climates. This skeletal bridge is characterized by several features, such as the complete absence of the first intercentrum or the appearance of the first free cervical rib on the axis (usually less developed in Dibamus relative to that in Anelytropsis). Our study shows morphological differences of the atlas–axis complex in the Mexican blind lizard Anelytropsis relative to those of Asian Dibamus, the only two known extant genera of this clade. With regard to taxonomy and phylogenetic topology of the Dibamidae within Squamata, a huge conflict exists between morphology versus molecules. The morphology of the atlas–axis complex is therefore compared with several potential sister clades + Sphenodon. Dibamids share several features with limbless Gekkota, Scincoidea, and Amphisbaenia. The complete absence of the first intercentrum is observed in Rhineura floridana and in Ateuchosaurus chinensis as well, and the free rib associated with the synapophyses of the axis is also present in Acontias meleagris. However, some of these features may result from a limbless, burrowing ecology and thus could represent homoplastic characters. In any case, the morphology of the atlas–axis shows that dibamids share most character states with skinks. Although the atlas–axis complex forms only an additional source of information, this conclusion is consistent with most morphological rather than molecular tree topologies.  相似文献

The largest family of lichen‐forming fungi, the Parmeliaceae, is reviewed. It includes 79 genera in current use and ca 2726 species, a large majority of which belong to one of five main clades: the parmelioid, cetrarioid, usneoid, alectorioid and hypogymnioid. However, 21 genera are positioned outside these clades, and four genera in current use still lack DNA‐ data. The family has been shown to be monophyletic and the generic classification is relatively well‐settled compared with other lecanoralean families. Each clade and its genera are presented here with the latest results from phylogenetic analyses and current taxonomy. In addition, a historical outline of the family and its most prominent researchers is provided.  相似文献

木灵藓科(Orthotrichaceae)是藓类植物中的第3大科。该科不仅种类多, 生态类型特殊, 而且是世界公认的多样化程度高、分类难度大、系统关系复杂的类群。当代木灵藓科植物分类系统学研究主要集中在该科的地区志编写和专属分类修订。目前, 除了热带美洲、热带非洲的变齿藓属(Zygodon)和火藓属(Schlotheimia)部分类群外, 木灵藓科主要类群的分类修订工作已基本完成, 但是有关亚科和属的划分和地位以及各属之间的关系等方面仍存在众多争议。木灵藓科分支系统学研究也不够系统全面, 有的仅应用了单个基因片段, 或者只涉及少数类群。因此, 需要基于更多的分子和形态学性状, 进一步开展世界木灵藓科植物的系统发育研究, 建立一个更趋自然的木灵藓科分类系统。  相似文献

Skinks are the largest family of lizards and are found worldwide in a diversity of habitats. One of the larger and more poorly studied groups of skinks includes members of the subfamily Scincinae distributed in sub-Saharan Africa. Sub-Saharan African scincines are one of the many groups of lizards that show limb reduction and loss, and the genus Scelotes offers an excellent opportunity to look at limb loss in a phylogenetic context. Phylogenetic relationships were reconstructed for a total of 52 taxa representing all subfamilies of skinks as well as other Autarchoglossan families using sequence from six gene regions including; 12S, 16S, and cytochrome b (mitochondrial), as well as alpha-Enolase, 18S, and C-mos (nuclear). The family Scincidae is recovered as monophyletic and is the sister taxon to a (Cordylidae+Xantusiidae) clade. Within skinks the subfamily Acontinae is monophyletic and sister group to all remaining skinks. There is no support for the monophyly of the subfamilies Lygosominae and Scincinae, but sub-Saharan African scincines+Feylinia form a well supported monophyletic group. The monophyly of Scelotes is confirmed, and support is found for two geographic groups within the genus. Reconstructions of ancestral states for limb and digital characters show limited support for the reversal or gain of both digits and limbs, but conservative interpretation of the results suggest that limb loss is common, occurring multiple times throughout evolutionary history, and is most likely not reversible.  相似文献

A complete skeleton of a new scincomorph lizard from the Early Cretaceous deposits of Tepexi de Rodriguez is described. Tepexisaurus tepexii gen. et sp. nov. is the best preserved early scincomorph and the first known taxon that is morphologically primitive to scincoids and paramacellodid lizards. The presence of pointed ventral parietal downgrowths, the coronoid overlapped anteriorly and posteriorly by the dentary and surangular, a small medial flange on the retroarticular process, and weak zygosphene and zygantrum articulations suggest scincoid relationships, but the absence of ventral and dorsal osteoscutes place Tepexisaurus as sister-group of this taxon. It shares the presence of + 30 closely packed teeth with the poorly known Upper Jurassic genus Saurillus and Pseudosaurillus , but differences in the coronoid structure, Meckelian groove and jaw proportions indicate that both taxa are distinct. Similar to Tepexisaurus , the absence of osteoscutes in Saurillus, Pseudosaurillus and Saurillodon place these taxa in a more primitive position relative to other paramacellodids which should be included within Scincoidea. Thus, Paramacellodidae as previously defined is a paraphyletic assemblage. The late presence of a pre-scincoid lizard in the Albian deposits of Tlayua can be correlated with the presence of sphenodontians and the relictual nature of the basal squamate Huehuecuetzpalli mixtecus. It gives additional evidence to support the hypothesis that Tlayua was a refuge for terrestrial archaic forms during the Albian.  相似文献

中国帕米尔高原约有种子植物59科303属963种(包括变种)。分析表明:该区种子植物区系的地理成分较为复杂,联系广泛。温带性质的属有254属,占总属数的83.8%,热带性质的属有13属,占总属数的4.3%;温带性质的种有723种,占总种数的75.1%,热带性质的种有17种,占总种数的1.8%。表明该地区植物区系具有明显的温带性质,同时受到热带植物区系的影响。另外在区系科属分级水平上,寡属科、单属科占绝对优势,而超过20属的大科在该区仅有3科,却占总属数、总种数的35.9%和38.6%,区系优势现象十分明显;单种或少种属也较多,属种比值偏高,表明区系组成上的复杂性。  相似文献

木通科为双子叶植物纲中较原始的一个小科,多为寡种属和单种属,主要分布于东亚地区。我国共有7属29种,其中很多种为传统的药用植物。本文简要综述木通科植物近几十年的化学研究状况,并从化学分类学的角度探讨木通科属间和与其近缘科之间的系统关系。结果表明齐墩果烷型三萜皂甙作为木通科的特征化学成分在该科的系统分类中具有一定的意义。齐墩果烷型三萜皂甙不仅提示木通科与毛茛科的毛茛亚科的系统联系,而且甙元骨架的氧化水平与科内各属的系统进化也有一定的相关性。  相似文献
