The venodilatory response to nitroglycerin (0.8 mg sublingually) was measured in 10 healthy young male volunteers in a cool [24.3 +/- 0.6 degrees C skin temperature (Tsk)] and a warm environment (34.7 +/- 0.2 degrees C Tsk). Nitroglycerin caused mean arterial pressure to fall and heart rate to rise in both the cool (105 +/- 2 to 96 +/- 3 mmHg; 55 +/- 3 to 62 +/- 3 beats/min) and the warm environment (87 +/- 3 to 81 +/- 3 mmHg; 66 +/- 4 to 75 +/- 3 beats/min), but the fall in pressure was greater in the cool than in the warm environment. Forearm blood flow was reduced and forearm vascular resistance elevated in the cool (117 +/- 19 units; 1.15 +/- 0.08 ml.100 cc arm-1.min-1) compared with the warm environment (15 +/- 3 units; 8.60 +/- 1.89 ml.100 cc arm-1.min-1). Nitroglycerin caused forearm vascular resistance to fall in the cool but had no effect in the warm environment. Venous distensibility (increase in venous volume per 30-mmHg increase in venous pressure) was twice as great in the warm as in the cool environment (3.90 +/- 0.27 vs. 1.88 +/- 0.23 ml/100 cc arm). However, the venodilatory effect of nitroglycerin was similar in the cool and warm environments (0.79 +/- 0.10 vs. 0.67 +/- 0.13 ml/100 cc arm, respectively). Arterioles are not dilated by nitroglycerin in the warmer environment, but the venodilatory effect of nitroglycerin is quantitatively similar in the two environments. 相似文献

The aim of this study was to investigate whether the rapid improvement of the clinical condition of patients after administration of nitroglycerin can be documented objectively using the apexcardiogram. The study was performed on 28 male patients with coronary heart disease whose clinical condition allowed us to perform the initial polygraphic examination during an attack of angina pectoris. The heart rate and three apexcardiographic indexes were determined from non-invasive polygraphic tracings. The first index was the a/H (ratio: amplitude of apexcardiographic "a" wave to total amplitude of apexcardiogram). The second and third were the velocity of the anterior left ventricular wall motion during both isovolumic contraction (VwmC) and isovolumic relaxation (VwmR) of the left ventricle. The mean differences from initial values were calculated after 2, 4, 6 and 10 min following administration of nitroglycerin. Significant changes already occurred during the second minute after administration of nitroglycerin. All parameters remained significantly changed up to the 10th minute after this treatment. According to our results, the cardiovascular response to sublingual administration of nitroglycerin can be objectively evaluated by apexcardiography. 相似文献

The aim of our study was to examine the effect of posture on inspiratory muscle activity response to hypercapnia. Recent research has revealed that in normal subjects the activation of the rib cage muscles and of the diaphragm is actually greater in the upright than in the supine position during resting tidal breathing. In this study we examined whether the upright position necessarily entails a greater activation of the inspiratory muscles also under conditions of ventilatory stress. For this purpose we compared the responses to CO2-rebreathing in the supine and sitting positions in five volunteers, by simultaneously recording the electromyogram of the diaphragm (EMGdi) and the intercostal muscles (EMGint). The electromyogram was recorded by means of surface electrodes to measure the EMG amplitude. While the slopes of ventilatory (VE) response to increasing arterial CO2 tension (PaCO2) were similar in the two positions, both the EMGdi-VE and EMGint-VE relationship showed steeper slopes in the supine than in the sitting position. In each CO2 run the increases in EMGdi were linearly related to those in EMGint. This relationship was not affected by the body position. These results suggested that, in spite of similar ventilatory responses to CO2-rebreathing in the lying and sitting positions, the supine position, in humans, required a higher activation of the inspiratory muscles. 相似文献

The immediate cardiovascular responses on active change from the squatting (control) to the standing position differ from those obtained in the lying-to-standing manoeuvre. Without exception, the first beat after changing from squatting to standing showed a decrease in systolic, diastolic and mean pressure by 2.0 +/- 1.1 kPa (14.6 +/- 8.3 mm Hg), 1.4 +/- 1.7 kPa (10.6 +/- 12.6 mm Hg) and 1.9 +/- 1.0 kPa (13.9 +/- 7.3 mm Hg), respectively. During the 4th or 5th pulse after standing the pulse pressure was significantly higher than when lying (P less than 0.01). Mean pressure reached a minimum of 7.7 +/- 1.9 kPa (57.8 +/- 14.4 mm Hg) after 7.1 +/- 1.1 s. Thereafter the blood pressure increased to a new level within about 15 s. 11 of 16 subjects demonstrated a biphasic heart rate (HR) response. The maximum HR was reached after 11.0 +/- 2.4 s of standing. In all experiments, the peaks in HR were distinctly delayed after the blood pressure dips. We conclude that an arterial baroreflex could be implicated in the immediate HR increase after a squatting-to-standing manoeuvre. The subsequent time course of the initial HR response, however, might be induced by other mechanisms. 相似文献

Experimental research has demonstrated that changes in body position influence auditory function and, specifically, supine position produces a sensorineural hearing loss at low frequencies. The hypotheses to interpret these phenomena are principally referred to an increase of hydrostatic pressure of labyrinthine fluids. In order to evaluate the effects of head position on the cochlear performance a modern test battery has been performed to study cochlear function in 11 normal subjects ranged in age from 22 to 34 years. The tests (Remote Masking:RM; Brief Tone Audiometry:BTA; Critical Ratio:RC) have been evaluated in two positions: sitting upright and supine with the head at a 20 backward angle. The results of our research have shown that in all the cases, the supine position produces a significant shift of the auditory threshold at 250 and 500 Hz, and a decrease of RM values in about all of the cases. We have estimated non statistically significant differences for the RC and BTA values, in more than half of the ears tested. On the basis of the significance given to RM, BTA, RC: we can deduce that the modifications of the auditory performance related to an increase in perilymphatic hydrostatic pressure, induced by the head position are produced by an increase in rigidity of the mechanical vibratory structures of the cochlea rather than the expression of sensorineural damage. 相似文献

Deimatic displays, where sudden changes in prey appearance elicit aversive predator reactions, have been suggested to occur in many taxa. These (often only putative) displays frequently involve different components that may also serve antipredator functions via other mechanisms (e.g., mimicry, warning signalling, body inflation). The Colombian four-eyed frog, Pleurodema brachyops, has been suggested to gain protection against predation through putative deimatic displays where they inflate and elevate the posterior part of their body revealing eye-like colour markings. We exposed stationary artificial frogs to wild predators to test whether the two components (eyespot/colour markings, defensive posture) of their putative deimatic display, and their combination, provide protection from predation without the sudden change in appearance. We did not detect any obvious additive effect of defensive posture and eyespots/colour markings on predation risk, but found a marginally significant trend for model frogs in the resting posture to be less attacked when displaying eyespots/colour markings than when they were not, suggesting that the presence of colour markings/eyespots may provide some protection on its own. Additionally, we found that models in a resting posture were overall more frequently attacked on the head than models in a defensive posture, indicating that a defensive posture alone could help redirect predator attacks to non-vital parts of the body. The trends found in our study suggest that the different components of P. brachyops' coloration may serve different functions during a deimatic display, but further research is needed to elucidate the role of each component when accompanied by sudden prey movement. 相似文献

There is ample evidence that people plan their movements to ensure comfortable final grasp postures at the end of a movement. The end-state comfort effect has been found to be a robust constraint during unimanual movements, and leads to the inference that goal-postures are represented and planned prior to movement initiation. The purpose of this study was to examine whether individuals make appropriate corrections to ensure comfortable final goal postures when faced with an unexpected change in action goal. Participants reached for a horizontal cylinder and placed the left or right end of the object into the target disk. As soon as the participant began to move, a secondary stimuli was triggered, which indicated whether the intended action goal had changed or not. Confirming previous research, participants selected initial grasp postures that ensured end-state comfort during non-perturbed trials. In addition, participants made appropriate on-line corrections to their reach-to-grasp movements to ensure end-state comfort during perturbed trials. Corrections in grasp posture occurred early or late in the reach-to-grasp phase. The results indicate that individuals plan their movements to afford comfort at the end of the movement, and that grasp posture planning is controlled via both feedforward and feedback mechanisms. 相似文献

We tested the hypothesis that peripheral vascular responses (in the lower and upper limbs) to application of lower body positive pressure (LBPP) are dependent on the posture of the subjects. We measured heart rate, stroke volume, mean arterial pressure, leg and forearm blood flow (using the Doppler ultrasound technique), and leg (LVC) and forearm (FVC) vascular conductance in 11 subjects (9 men, 2 women) without and with LBPP (25 and 50 mmHg) in supine and upright postures. Mean arterial pressure increased in proportion to increases in LBPP and was greater in supine than in upright subjects. Heart rate was unchanged when LBPP was applied to supine subjects but was reduced in upright ones. Leg blood flow and LVC were both reduced by LBPP in supine subjects [LVC: 4.8 (SD 4.0), 3.6 (SD 3.5), and 1.4 (SD 1.8) ml.min(-1).mmHg(-1) before LBPP and during 25 and 50 mmHg LBPP, respectively; P < 0.05] but were increased in upright ones [LVC: 2.0 (SD 1.2), 3.4 (SD 3.4), and 3.0 (SD 2.0) ml.min(-1).mmHg(-1), respectively; P < 0.05]. Forearm blood flow and FVC both declined when LBPP was applied to supine subjects [FVC: 1.3 (SD 0.6), 1.0 (SD 0.4), and 0.9 (SD 0.6) ml. min(-1).mmHg(-1), respectively; P < 0.05] but remained unchanged in upright ones [FVC: 0.7 (SD 0.4), 0.7 (SD 0.4), and 0.6 (SD 0.5) ml.min(-1).mmHg(-1), respectively]. Together, these findings indicate that the leg vascular response to application of LBPP is posture dependent and that the response differs in the lower and upper limbs when subjects assume an upright posture. 相似文献

In the chicken embryo, pulmonary ventilation and pulmonary gas exchange begin approximately one day before the completion of hatching. We asked to what extent the posture inside the egg, and the presence of the eggshell and membranes, may alter the mechanical behaviour of the respiratory system. The passive mechanical properties of the respiratory system were studied in chicken embryos during the internal pipping phase (rupture of the air cell) or the external pipping phase (hole in the eggshell). Tracheal pressure and changes in lung volume were recorded during mechanical ventilation, first, with the embryo curled up inside the egg, then again after exteriorization from the eggshell. In the internal pippers, respiratory system compliance increased and expiratory resistance decreased after exteriorization, whereas the mean inspiratory impedance did not change. In the external pippers, exteriorization had no significant effects on respiratory compliance, resistance, or impedance, and the values were similar to those of newly hatched chicks. We conclude that, in the chicken embryo, at a time when pulmonary ventilation becomes an important mechanism for gas exchange, the curled up posture inside the egg does not provide any significant mechanical constraint to breathing. 相似文献

Nitric oxide (NO) in many cells inactivates aconitase and mitochondrial respiratory chain, and influenced glyceraldehyde 3-phosphate dehydrogenase activity. The aim of this study was to evaluate role of nitroglycerin (NTG), a widely used NO donor, on energy metabolism of rat reticulocytes. Rat reticulocyte rich red blood cell suspensions containing 70-100% of reticulocytes, were aerobically incubated without (control) or in the presence of different concentrations of (a) NTG (0.1, 0.25, 0.5, 1.0, 1.5 mmol/l), (b) 8-Br-cGMP (0.1, 0.5, 1.0 mmol/l) and (c) NaNO2 and NaNO3 (1 mmol/l). NTG in dose- and time-dependent manner decreased total (p>0.05; EC50 = 0.78+/-0.05 mmol/l) and coupled (p<0.05; EC50 = 0.50+/-0.04 mmol/l) and increased uncoupled oxygen consumption (p<0.05: EC50 = 0.36+/-0.01 mmol/l). They were accompanied by stimulation of glycolysis, as measured by increased glucose consumption and lactate accumulation (p<0.001 EC50 = 0.53 and 0.53 mmol/l, respectively). Levels of all glycolytic intermediates in the presence of NTG indicate stimulation of HK-PFK, GA3PDH and PK activity. NTG significantly decreased ATP level, which accompanied by increased ADP and AMP levels. However, level of total adenine nucleotides (TAN) was significantly lower, which was consequence of increased catabolism of adenine nucleotides (increased hypoxanthine level; p<0.05). Stimulation of glycolysis accompanied with inhibition of the OxP, activation of HK-PFK, decrease of ATP and simultaneous rise of ADP and AMP levels, all together represent an example of Pasteur effect occurring in NTG-treated reticulocytes. In rat reticulocytes under steady state conditions 93% of overall energy was produced by OxP, but only 7% by glycolysis. Due to decrease of coupled oxygen consumption in the presence of NTG, ATP production via OxP was significantly diminished. Simultaneous increase of glycolytic ATP production is not enough to provide constant either ATP production or concentration. Calculated mean ATP-turnover time was prolonged even for 45% in the presence of 1.5 mmol/l NTG. Metabolic effects of NTG were not mimic by exogenous 8-Br-cGMP, NaNO2 or NaNO3, which indicate that NTG induced a) inhibition of coupled respiration and b) stimulation of glycolysis in rat reticulocytes are mediated by NO as an effector molecule. 相似文献

Differential shock transmission response of the human body to impact severity and lower limb posture
The shocks imparted to the foot during locomotion may lead to joint-degenerative diseases and jeopardize the visual-vestibular functions. The body relies upon several mechanisms and structures that have unique viscoelastic properties for shock attenuation. The purpose of the present study was to determine whether impact severity and initial knee angle (IKA) could alter the shock transmission characteristics of the body. Impacts were administered to the right foot of 38 subjects with a human pendulum device. Combinations of velocities (0.9, 1.05 and 1.2 m s−1) and surfaces (soft and hard foams) served to manipulate impact severity in the first experiment. Three IKA (0, 20 and 40°) were examined in the second experiment. Transmission between shank and head was characterized by measuring the shock at these sites with miniature accelerometers. Velocity and surface had no effect on the frequency profile of shock transmission suggesting a consistent response of the body to impact severity. Shank shock power spectrum features accounted for the lower shock ratio (head/shank) measured under the hard surface condition. IKA flexion caused considerable reduction in effective axial stiffness of the body (EASB), 28.7–7.9 kNm−1, which improved shock attenuation. The high correlation (r=0.97) between EASB and shock ratio underscored the importance of EASB to shock attenuation. The present findings provide valuable information for the development of strategies aimed at protecting the joints, articular cartilage, spine and head against locomotor shock. 相似文献
