A method for frequent sampling of blood and injections of fluids in undisturbed rats is described. The right external jugular vein and the left carotid artery are cannulated without completely blood stream interruption in the vessel. Injection or perfusion can be performed during several weeks. Blood was collected for at least 15 post-operative days. The technique appears suitable for pituitary kinetics studies which can be carried out several times in rats bearing indwelling catheters.  相似文献

目的:探讨三维动态增强磁共振血管成像(30 DCE MRA)对于颈部静脉系统疾病的临床应用价值。方法:对7例疑有颈部静脉病变的病人进行了3D DCE MRA检查,观察对病变血管及正常血管显示情况。结果:7例检查图像都能清晰显示正常血管结构及病变情况。其中2例正常,2例颈静脉血栓,1例颈静脉癌栓,1例颈静脉扩张,2例动静脉瘘。所有病例均经手术及(或)DSA证实。结论:3D DCE MRA是一种简便,易行,有效的血管检查方法,分辨率高,假阳性率低,在临床上已广泛应用,但临床上多限于动脉系统疾病的诊断。只要选择合适的序列、扫描时间及对比剂的剂量就能较好显示静脉血管情况。此项技术的应用,在颈部静脉病变诊断中有很大的实用价值。  相似文献

目的:检测去细胞处理牛颈静脉的生物相容性.方法:去细胞处理牛颈静脉,与新鲜牛颈静脉分别于兔皮下包埋,术后2,4,12周取材,HE染色;进行血浆蛋白吸附和血小板粘附实验,检测血液相容性.结果:包埋早期有炎性细胞浸润,后期炎性细胞消失,以成纤维细胞为主.去细胞牛颈静脉与新鲜牛颈静脉血浆蛋白吸附和血小板粘附无显著差异.结论:去细胞牛颈静脉有良好的生物相容性.  相似文献

The author studied the structure of the tissue components of the tunicae of the terminal segment of the sigmoid sinus, particularly at the level of the transition between the sigmoid sinus, the superior bulb of the jugular vein and the first portion of the human internal jugular vein; it was established that the transition between the sigmoid sinus and the first portion of the internal jugular vein occupies the whole extension of the superior bulb of the jugular vein up to the inferior third of the first portion of this vessel. These vascular walls exhibit a structure similar to that of the dura, i.e. the tunica adventitia is formed by fascicles of collagenic fibers which describe discontinuous spirals, more open proximal to the beginning of the first portion of the internal jugular vein. Approximately in the inferior third of the first portion of the internal jugular vein, there appear fascicles of smooth muscle fibers which are arranged similarly to those of the venous walls. The tunica intima of these vascular segments exhibits an endothelium resting on a network of elastic fibers which may play the role of an internal elastic lamina. From the bony border of the jugular foramen there originates a connective system whose fascicles of collagenic and elastic fibers incorporate to the wall of the internal jugular vein after describing a stretch in spiral around the vascular lumen.  相似文献

Circhoral pulsatile release of immunoreactive luteinising hormone (LH) and prostaglandin F2 alpha (PGF2 alpha) occur synchronously into the jugular vein in ovariectomised sheep. Following a 4-hour control period, intra-carotid injections of phentolamine or intramuscular injections of phenoxybenzamine were given to ovariectomised sheep and the pulsatile release of LH and PGF2 alpha was monitored for a further 6 to 8 hours. Phenoxybenzamine caused a fall in LH and PGF2 alpha in jugular venous plasma. Phentolamine also reduced LH significantly but in this case a marked rise in PGF2 alpha as measured by radioimmunoassay (RIA) occurred after very high doses of phentolamine. Interpretation of the latter results was complicated by the fact that phentolamine at high dose levels interfered with the RIA of PGF2 alpha in plasma. Experiments were repeated in ovariectomised sheep with cannulae placed in the lateral ventricles of the brain for sampling cerebrospinal fluid (CSF). In contrast to the previously observed rise in jugular venous PGF2 alpha following high doses of phentolamine, a fall in CSF levels of immunoreactive PGF2 alpha occurred following intracarotid phentolamine or phenoxybenzamine in 3 out of 7 experiments, while no change was observed in the remaining 4 animals. Phentolamine did not reduce LH significantly in animals with intraventricular cannulae. The work provides support for the view that circhoral pulses of immunoreactive PGF2 alpha in sheep are neural in origin and may be related to sympathetic neurotransmission.  相似文献

Diaphragmatic electromyographic activity, tracheal and amniotic fluid pressures, lung liquid flow, and carotid and jugular venous pressures were measured on eight fetal lambs who survived for periods of 9-43 days postoperatively. The fetal gestational age ranged from 98 to 113 days at operation. Respiratory center output of the fetus as indicated by electromyographic activity was modified by the following stimuli. It was suppressed by anesthesia and fetal hypoxia (Pao2 = 12 mmHg), tonically reduced by lung inflation, and stimulated by cyanide injections (150-600 mug) into the fetal jugular vein. Neuromuscular transmission to the diaphragm was blocked with d-tubocurarine (0.2-0.6 mg). These experiments indicate that central and motor pathways to the diaphragm are sufficiently mature by 101 days in the fetal sheep to permit their output to be modified by chemical and mechanical stimuli.  相似文献

The observation that the rat jugular vein relaxed in response to norepinephrine but not to field stimulation prompted us to evaluate the extent of innervation in this tissue. The norepinephrine concentration in the jugular vein was about 10% of that in the mesenteric artery and vein. The low levels of norepinephrine were not due to higher monoamine oxidase activity relative to the enzyme activity in other blood vessels. In the jugular vein, as in heart and brain, serotonin was preferred substrate for monoamine oxidase whereas in the femoral vein, mesenteric vein, and mesenteric artery, phenylethylamine oxidation was greater. Based on kinetic and inhibitory studies with LY51641, a selective type A inhibitor, monoamine oxidase activity was not found to be uniform throughout the cardiovascular system. In addition to low levels of norepinephrine, acetylcholinesterase activity in the jugular vein was only 5 and 13% of the activity in the portal vein and mesenteric artery, respectively. Thus, we provide strong evidence that our inability to generate a response to field stimulation in the rat jugular vein results from the lack of functional innervation in this tissue. This information adds to the usefulness of this preparation for comparative studies of agents acting on the smooth muscle without the added complication of neuronal uptake mechanisms.  相似文献

In this case the fibrinolytic activity of kidney cortical part decreases, but in medullar part it does not alter. Background

Natural heterologous valved conduits with a diameter greater than 22 mm that can be used for right ventricular outflow tract reconstruction in adults are not commercially available. The purpose of this study was to measure by ultrasonography the maximum diameter of the distended jugular veins of horses and cattle, respectively, to identify a population of animals that would be suitable for post-mortem collection of jugular veins at sizes greater than 22 mm.

Methods

The study population included 60 Warmblood horses, 25 Freiberger horses, 20 Brown Swiss cows, and 20 Holstein cows (including 10 Holstein and 10 Red Holstein). The maximum cross-sectional diameter of the distended jugular veins was measured at a location half-way between the mandibular angle and the thoracic inlet. The thoracic circumference (heart girth length) was used as a surrogate of body size. The jugular vein diameters of the different populations were compared by analysis of variance and the association between heart girth length and jugular vein diameter was determined in each of the four study populations by linear regression analysis.

Results

There was considerable individual variation of jugular vein diameters within each of the four study populations. There was no statistically significant relationship between thoracic circumference and jugular vein diameter in any of the populations. The jugular vein diameters of Brown Swiss cows were significantly larger than those of any of the other populations. Warmblood horses had significantly larger jugular vein diameters compared to Freiberger horses.

Conclusion

The results of this study suggest that the production of bovine or equine xenografts with diameters of greater than 22 mm would be feasible. Differences between species and breeds need to be considered. However, prediction of the jugular vein diameter based on breed and heart girth length in an individual animal is inaccurate.  相似文献

In Exp. 1 twice daily i.m. injections of 2 mg recombinant bovine IFN-alpha I1 (rboIFN-alpha I1) (N = 24) or placebo (N = 25) were administered to ewes from Day 12 to Day 16 during a normal oestrous cycle. Treatment did not increase (P greater than 0.10) oestrous cycle length (20.7 +/- 1.2 versus 18.5 +/- 1.4 days). In Exp. 2, ewes were injected twice daily with 2 mg IFN (N = 34) or placebo (N = 36) from Days 11 to 18 after natural mating. The rboIFN-alpha I1 significantly (P = 0.05) improved pregnancy rate (79% versus 58%) as determined by a failure of ewes to return to oestrus within 50 days. The number of ewes that lambed was greatest in the rboIFN-alpha I1-treatment group (71% versus 50%; P = 0.07), and no teratogenic effects were observed in the young born to IFN-treated ewes. The study was repeated a second year with a more fecund group of ewes (Exp. 3). More (P = 0.08) ewes injected with rboIFN-alpha I1 (58/65) than placebo-treated ewes (48/61) were judged pregnant by ultrasound. Again more ewes lambed (55 versus 45) and more lambs were born (98 versus 80) from the rboIFN-alpha I1-treated group. Combining the data from both studies revealed a significant (P = 0.01) effect of treatment. The amount of antiviral activity in jugular vein blood of ewes injected with rboIFN-alpha I1 (2 mg) was determined over time in Exp. 4. Activity rose to a maximum (approximately 450 IRU/ml) within 1-2 h and declined by over 75% in 24 h. Single injections of 1, 2 and 5 mg in buffer or 2 mg emulsified in sesame oil all gave similar profiles of antiviral activity in jugular blood over a 48-h period. In Exp. 5, antiviral activity was measured in uterine vein, ovarian artery and jugular vein serum of untreated pregnant (N = 7) and non-pregnant (N = 11) ewes at Day 15 after mating. Activity was detected in the uterine vein (58 +/- 19 IRU/ml) of all pregnant ewes. The observations in Exps 1-5 are consistent with a role for conceptus-derived IFN-alpha in maternal recognition of pregnancy and suggest that supplemental IFN-alpha might be useful in improving pregnancy success in sheep.  相似文献

The lack of adequate recipient vessels often complicates microvascular breast reconstruction in patients who have previously undergone mastectomy and irradiation. In addition, significant size mismatch, particularly in the outflow veins, is an important contributor to vessel thrombosis and flap failure. The purpose of this study was to review the authors' experience with alternative venous outflow vessels for microvascular breast reconstruction. In a retrospective analysis of 1278 microvascular breast reconstructions performed over a 10-year period, the authors identified all patients in whom the external jugular or cephalic veins were used as the outflow vessels. Patient demographics, flap choice, the reasons for the use of alternative venous drainage vessels, and the incidence of microsurgical complications were analyzed. The external jugular was used in 23 flaps performed in procedures with 22 patients. The superior gluteal and transverse rectus abdominis musculocutaneous (TRAM) flaps were used in the majority of the cases in which the external jugular vein was used (72 percent gluteal, 20 percent TRAM flap). The need for alternative venous outflow vessels was usually due to a significant vessel size mismatch between the superior gluteal and internal mammary veins (74 percent). For three of the external jugular vein flaps (13 percent), the vein was used for salvage after the primary draining vein thrombosed, and two of three flaps in these cases were eventually salvaged. In three patients, the external jugular vein thrombosed, resulting in two flap losses, while the third was salvaged using the cephalic vein. A total of two flaps were lost in the external jugular vein group. The cephalic vein was used in 11 flaps (TRAM, 64.3 percent; superior gluteal, 35.7 percent) performed in 11 patients. In five patients (54.5 percent), the cephalic vein was used to salvage a flap after the primary draining vein thrombosed; the procedure was successful in four cases. In three patients, the cephalic vein thrombosed, resulting in two flap losses. One patient suffered a thrombosis after the cephalic vein was used to salvage a flap in which the external jugular vein was initially used, leading to flap loss, while a second patient experienced cephalic vein thrombosis on postoperative day 7 while carrying a heavy package. There was only one minor complication attributable to the harvest of the external jugular or cephalic vein (small neck hematoma that was aspirated), and the resultant scars were excellent. The external jugular and cephalic veins are important ancillary veins available for microvascular breast reconstruction. The dissection of these vessels is straightforward, and their use is well tolerated and highly successful.  相似文献

Summary The autonomic innervation of rat jugular vein was studied using glyoxylic acid fluorescence and acetylcholinesterase histochemical methods. The rat jugular vein is provided with both adrenergic and cholinergic nerve fibers organized in plexuses located at the adventitial-medial border. The existence of these nerve plexuses does not seem to support biochemical findings that suggest a lack of innervation in the rat jugular vein and which propose this blood vessel as a model for the analysis of drug-smooth muscle cell interaction without the interference of neuronal uptake mechanisms.  相似文献

BackgroundWe demonstrate a case series of 8 pediatric patients, all under 30 kg, who had leadless pacemaker implants via the internal jugular vein.MethodsA retrospective review of pediatric leadless pacing placement via the internal jugular vein at the University of Minnesota Masonic Children's Hospital and UC Davis Medical Center from 2018 through 2021 was performed. Rationales for pacing, demographics of patients, pacing thresholds, and longevity of devices were recorded.ResultsEight internal jugular pacemaker insertions were performed successfully in patients weighing between 10.9 kg and 29 kg. Five patients had Micra implantation via the right internal jugular vein, whereas 3 patients had insertion via the left internal jugular vein. No surgical cut-downs were performed. No venous complications occurred. Up to 3 years of follow-up were noted.ConclusionLeadless pacemaker implantation, via left or right internal jugular veins, is feasible without surgical cutdown in patients <30 kg  相似文献

The experimental design of studies using small laboratory animals may require repeated venous access for the application of drugs or diagnostics. An appropriate device should provide quick intravenous access without causing severe handling stress to the animals or the necessity of anaesthesia. In addition, the system should be suitable for repeated injections over several weeks. A silicone catheter is connected to an intravenous indwelling cannula with fixation wings. A closure stopper with injection port completes this system. The device is fixed subcutaneously on the back of the animal and the catheter is inserted into the jugular vein. The device is easily and quickly assembled and is more economic than commercial systems. It is easily implanted and allows repeated intravenous injections for several weeks without anaesthesia or restraint of the animals. The method allows repeated intravenous drug delivery over a couple of weeks in small animals.  相似文献

目的:探讨技术和方法的改进,提高动物颈静脉置管以及药物成瘾自身给药模型构建的成功率,为成瘾研究提供更稳定和高效的建模方法。方法:对建立自身给药模型的传统颈静脉置管术进行改良,选取成年雄性SD大鼠60只,按照随机数字表法分为传统手术组(n=30)和改良手术组(n=30),分别完成颈静脉置管术后,按照随机数字表法,再将每组分为对照训练组(n=15)和成瘾训练组(n=15),构建大鼠自身给药模型,观察两组大鼠自身给药模型成功率。结果:大鼠的颈静脉置管手术可能出现的手术并发症主要包括堵管、漏管、感染甚至死亡等,最主要的并发症是漏管,占比最大。颈静脉置管传统手术组手术成功率为43.33%±3.333,颈静脉置管改良手术组手术成功率为90.00%±3.333,显著高于颈静脉置管传统手术组(P0.05)。两组成瘾训练组有效鼻触次数均分别明显高于其对照训练组(P0.05)。结论:大鼠改良后的颈静脉置管手术效果明显优于传统手术,颈静脉置管手术成功率明显提高。  相似文献

To elucidate compositional changes of the veins with aging, the authors investigated the relationships among element contents in the internal jugular veins, in which a higher accumulation of calcium and phosphorus occurred with aging. The subjects consisted of 15 men and 10 women, ranging in age from 40 to 98 yr. The element contents of the internal jugular veins were determined by inductively coupled plasma-atomic emission spectrometry. It was found that there were extremely significant direct correlations among the contents of calcium, phosphorus, magnesium, and sodium in the internal jugular vein. In addition, very significant direct correlations were also found both between zinc and either iron or silicon contents and between sulfur and iron contents in the vein. As calcium and phosphorus increased in the internal jugular vein, the mass ratios of Mg/Ca and Mg/P decreased gradually in the vein, whereas the mass ratio of Ca/P hardly decreased. These results indicated that with regard to both the relationships among the contents of calcium, phosphorus, and magnesium and the changes of the mass ratios of Mg/Ca and Mg/P, the internal jugular vein was very similar to the arteries.  相似文献

目的获取可应用于静脉血管组织工程的种子细胞内皮细胞。方法选取北京地区雄性杂种犬,取其双侧颈外静脉,采用翻转后酶消法,获取原代内皮细胞,对其进行原代培养和传代培养,冻存、复苏和鉴定,并利用光学显微镜进行观察。结果获取犬的颈外静脉后,实验采取了翻转后酶消法,所获得的内皮细胞纯度和数量得到了提高;经过鉴定确实为内皮细胞来源;活性好,增殖快,在较短的时间内能够达到后期实验所需数量。结论经体外培养的犬的颈外静脉内皮细胞可以作为组织工程血管的种子细胞。  相似文献

Pulsatile Tinnitus (PT) is a pulse-synchronous sound heard in the absence of an external source. PT is often related to abnormal flow in vascular structures near the cochlea. One vascular territory implicated in PT is the internal jugular vein (IJV). Using computational fluid dynamics (CFD) based on patient-specific Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI), we investigated the flow within the IJV of seven subjects, four symptomatic and three asymptomatic of PT. We found that there were two extreme anatomic types classified by the shape and position of the jugular bulbs: elevated and rounded. PT patients had elevated jugular bulbs that led to a distinctive helical flow pattern within the proximal internal jugular vein. Asymptomatic subjects generally had rounded jugular bulbs that neatly redirected flow from the sigmoid sinus directly into the jugular vein. These two flow patterns were quantified by calculating the length-averaged streamline curvature of the flow within the proximal jugular vein: 130.3±8.1 m−1 for geometries with rounded bulbs, 260.7±29.4 m−1 for those with elevated bulbs (P<0.005). Our results suggest that variations in the jugular bulb geometry lead to distinct flow patterns that are linked to PT, but further investigation is needed to determine if the vortex pattern is causal to sound generation.  相似文献

To elucidate age-related changes of mineral contents in human veins, the relative contents (RCs) of elements in the human internal jugular veins, superior and inferior venae cavae, and femoral veins from 27 subjects ranging from 40 to 98 yr old were analyzed by inductively coupled plasma atomic emission spectrometry. The average RCs of calcium in the 27 specimens were the highest in the internal jugular vein, followed in descending order by the superior vena cava, femoral vein, and inferior vena cava. The RCs of calcium and phosphorus in the internal jugular veins started to increase after the age of 50 yr, became the highest in subjects in their 60s and thereafter decreased gradually. It is noted that such accumulations of minerals, similar to the internal jugular vein, were also found in the veins, such as the superior and inferior venae cavae, and femoral vein. Accumulation of minerals in the veins is different from that of arteries, which increase progressively by aging, but do not decrease.  相似文献

This study was conducted 1) to determine if the secretion of progesterone, as an index of ovarian activity, during the estrous cycle of nonseasonal Shiba goats is affected by seasonal changes, and 2) to learn if the pulsatile secretion of ovarian progesterone can be estimated from samples obtained by cannulation into the caudal vena cava via the femoral vein. Progesterone concentrations in jugular venous plasma during the estrous cycle in spring (May) were similar to those in autumn (November). Plasma progesterone concentrations in the jugular vein and caudal vena cava monitored for 10 h on Day 12 of the estrous cycle in spring were similar to those in autumn. The mean concentration (21.9 to 28.9 ng/ml) and the pulse frequency (6.2 to 7.4 pulses/10 h) of plasma progesterone in the caudal vena cava during both seasons were 3.1- to 4.7-fold and 1.7- to 2.4-fold those in the jugular vein, respectively. The degree of change in the peak magnitude and the base-line concentration of progesterone were higher in the caudal vena cava than in the jugular vein. These results indicate that progesterone secretion during the estrous cycle in nonseasonal goats is not affected by seasonal changes, and suggest that the pulsatile secretion of ovarian progesterone can be evaluated better from samples obtained from the caudal vena cava, near where progesterone is released, than from those obtained from the jugular vein.  相似文献
