Double partial trisomy resulting from 3:1 segregation of the respective chromosomal segments of the chromosomes involved in a balanced translocation in meiosis is rarely reported in the literature. We present here a first patient with multiple congenital malformations associated with double partial trisomy of 10pter-p15 and 14pter-q13 resulting from 3:1 segregation of maternal balanced translocation t(10;14)(p15;q13). Proximal partial trisomy of chromosome 14 and subterminal trisomy of the short arm of the chromosome 10 are rare. The present case is the first case with double partial trisomy of these segments resulting from 3:1 segregation of a maternal balanced translocation.  相似文献

Mosaic and non-mosaic trisomy 15q2   总被引:1,自引:0,他引:1
Two unrelated patients are presented. In the first mosaicism with normal cells and cells trisomic for the distal long arm (q2) of chromosome 15 was found. The 15q2 trisomy was due to a chromosome 14, to the long arm of which an extra 15q2 region was attached (14pter----14q32::15q22----15qter). In the second trisomy 15q2 was present as a consequence of a balanced t(7;15)(p22;q15) translocation in the mother.  相似文献

Summary The authors discuss the clinical and cytogenetic problems raised in two new cases of X-chromosome translocations. The first case involves a child who presented marked growth retardation, behavioral anomalies, and discrete facial malformations at age 3 months. Chromosome analysis revealed the presence of a translocation between a 22 and X chromosome resulting in partial X monosomy and partial trisomy 22: 46,X,der(X),t(X;22)(q112;q13)mat. The balanced translocation form was detected in the mother. Dynamic study after 5-Brdu treatment revealed inactivation of the translocated X chromosome in the proband, while in the mother the normal X chromosome was inactivated. In addition to magnesium dependent hypocalcemia resulting from a specific absorption anomaly, Case 2 presented discrete malformations and psychomotor retardation. Chromosome analysis revealed an apparently balanced translocation between a 9 and X chromosome: 46,X,r(9;X)(q12; p22). Treatment with 5-Brdu demonstrated that the translocated X chromosome was inactivated but that inactivation did not extend to the translocated part of chromosome 9. Finally, a pericentric inversion of a 9 chromosome was detected in the father, grandfather, and brother of the proband.  相似文献

Partial Trisomy 14q is a rare chromosomal disorder that mostly results from a parental translocation. We report here a newborn boy with partial trisomy 14q and dysmorphic features that are compatible with previously reported cases. Conventional cytogenetic analysis revealed an extra chromosomal segment at the end of the short arm of chromosome 4. In order to determine the origin of this chromosome region we used subtelomeric FISH technique. Based on the results of these cytogenetic studies and the physical examination, this dysmorphic case was diagnosed as partial trisomy of 14q and his karyotype determined as 46 XY, der(4)t(4;14)(p16;q32) resulting from a balanced maternal translocation identified as 46,XX, t(4;14)(p16;q32).  相似文献

Summary Two cases of pericentric inversion of chromosome 12 are presented, one 46,XX,inv(12)(p13;q11) and the other 47,XX,+21,inv(12)(p13;q13). In both cases one of the parents was also a heterozygotic carrier of the inversion. These inversions were detected among 4035 cytogenetic analyses carried out in patients with psychosomatic retardation and/or malformations (357 with a Down phenotype) and in patients with histories of miscarriages, sterility, or growth failure. In cases studied from a review of the literature together with our own we found that among 3235 cases of Down syndrome there were 7 patients with trisomy 21 and inherited balanced reciprocal translocation involving chromosomes other than pair 21. The frequent participation of some chromosomes in these balanced reciprocal translocations, above all those of group A (1–3), suggests that these and probably other rearrangements could make the segregation of chromosome 21 easier.  相似文献

Summary A patient with partial trisomy 22 (PT22) is presented. Inheritance is presumed to be due to secondary nondisjunction in her mother, who has a balanced translocation t(11;22)(q25;q13). The problem of the phenotypic heterogeneity observed with this chromosome change is discussed.  相似文献

This paper presents the family of a dysmorphic child with the phenotypic features of Turner's syndrome and 5q trisomy, whose parents are both carriers of a balanced translocation. The parents' karyotypes are 46,X,t(X;5)(p11.1;q31) and 45,XY,der(13;14)(q10;q10), respectively.  相似文献

Summary Two reciprocal balanced translocations 46,XY,t(9;13)(p23;q21) and 46,XX,t(13;21)(q21;q21), identified by RFA- and GTG-banding, are presented along with a complete study of both families. In the second case a 3:1 segregation is associated with an unbalanced 2:2 segregation, as demonstrated in the two surviving sons: one with interchange trisomy 21 and the other with partial trisomy 13 and partial monosomy 21. This suggests that the presence of this translocation, and possibly of other translocations involving morphologically similar chromosomes, could signify a high risk of having chromosomal disorders in offspring.  相似文献

We report an eleven years old boy and his fourteen years old brother who both have trisomy 9p syndrome. Their cytogenetic analysis using GTL-banding showed 46,XY,der(22)add(22)(p11) karyotype. Cytogenetic analysis of their mother and sister revealed a karyogram designated as 46,XX,t(9;22) (9pter-->9p12::22p11-->22qter). With the help of FISH technique, the derivative chromosome in the proband was further confirmed to be a translocation chromosome 22 carrying the aforementioned segments from chromosome 9 which originated from a segregation event of a mother's balanced translocation. Regarding clinical aspects of our cases, both showed similar findings of 9p trisomy syndrome but low frontal hairline, circular placement of the hair around the face and scarce, inverted eyebrows, findings not previously mentioned in the literature. We conclude that these new clinical findings could be used in the clinical diagnosis of the 9p trisomy syndrome along with the other well-documented symptoms.  相似文献

This report includes a patient with an inherited pericentric inversion of chromosome No. 2 in addition to a Robertsonian translocation resulting in trisomy for chromosome 13q. The chromosomal constitution of the proband was 46,XX,inv(2) (pter leads to p11 : : q14 leads to p11 : : q14 leads to qter); t(13,14) (13qter leads to 13p11 : : 14q11 leads to 14qter). Sequential QFQ, RFA and GTG banding techniques were employed on the chromosomes of all family members. The chromosomal constitutions of the father and his first child were normal while the mother had an inversion of chromosome No. 2 [46,XX,inv(2) (pter leads to p11 : : q14 leads to p11 : : q14 leads to qter)]. The proband inherited this abnormal chromosome. In addition, she had a de novo Robertsonian translocation involving chromosomes 13q and 14q resulting in trisomy of chromosome 13q.  相似文献

A clinically normal mother of three retarded children has been determined by G-banding to have a balanced translocation 46,XX,t(13;20) (q34;p11.2). The children each have an unbalanced form of the translocation with partial trisomy for 20p. Extensive gene marker studies have been unable to affix any specific gene locus onto the short arm of chromosome 20. The balanced translocation was inherited from the maternal grandfather. Two phenotypically abnormal deceased members of the family are believed to have had the unbalanced trisomy 20p condition. An increases number of spontaneous abortions were possibly due to lethal unbalanced 20p deletions. The moderate to mild mental retardation and somewhate unusual features (round face, prominent cheeks and nose, short mandible) in the three siblings and two other affected relatives suggest that trisomy of the short arm of chromosome 20 may cause a distinguishable clinical syndrome. Vertebral abnormalities and abnormal dermatoglyphics are part of the picture. Clinical and cytogenetic findings of all reported cases are compared.  相似文献

Summary Partial trisomy of the long arm of chromosome 4 was observed in two related patients, a child aged 2 years and a woman aged 42. Cytogenetic investigation revealed that their chromosome anomalies were due to segregation of a familial balanced translocation t(4;18)(q27;p11). Some clinical and cytogenetic considerations are noted.  相似文献

Summary A 31-year-old boy revealed moderate motor and mental retardation, normal growth, a congenital heart defect and multiple minor dysmorphic signs and anomalies including brachycephaly, orbital hypotelorism, upward slanting palpebral fissures, short and beaked nose, full cheeks, malformed auricles, hypoplastic external genitalia, rocker-bottom feet with prominent heels, and various minor radiologic anomalies of bones. An extra chromosome in his karyotype appeared to represent trisomy of the short arm of chromosome 20 due to a maternally inherited balanced t(13;20)(p11;q11) translocation.  相似文献

Trisomy for the short arm of chromosome No. 10   总被引:1,自引:0,他引:1
To the authors knowledge there is a single previous report of confirmed trisomy for the short arm of chromosome No 10 (Hustinx et al., 1974). In this paper we present a further case of trisomy 10p, resulting from 3 : 1 segregation of maternal balanced translocation, t(3;10)(q;11), in a female infant aged 7 months and showing numerous somatic anomalies.  相似文献

In this case report we present a child with an additional chromosome in the karyotype. The karyotypes of the boy and his parents were analyzed by use of a conventional banding technique (GTG) and fluorescence in situ hybridization (FISH). Probes painting whole chromosomes 12 and 18 were used in FISH. Cytogenetic examination of the parents revealed that his mother was carrying balanced reciprocal translocation between chromosomes 12 and 18. Her karyotype was described as 46,XX,t(12;18)(p13;q12). Father's karyotype was normal, described as 46,XY. The boy's karyotype was defined as 47,XY,+der(18)t(12;18)(p13;q12). The additional chromosome appeared probably due to 3:1 meiotic disjunction of the maternal balanced translocation, known as tertiary trisomy. The mother displayed a normal phenotype and delivered earlier a healthy child. However, the boy with the unbalanced karyotype shows multiple congenital abnormalities.  相似文献

Summary An 8-year-old girl with profound mental retardation and a neurologic syndrome associated with morphologic abnormalities was found to have a supernumerary small submetacentric chromosome. Several members of her family carried a balanced translocation t(12;18)(p12;q11), and the child's karyotype could be explained by 3:1 maternal segregation (tertiary trisomy). The proband was trisomic for 12p13 and 18p. A gene dosage effect was demonstrated for triosephosphate isomerase and glyceraldehyde-3-phosphate in erythrocytes and leukocytes allowing us to assign the corresponding loci to the tip of the chromosome 12 short arm.  相似文献

Summary Report of a supernumerary extra chromosome der(11;22)(q23; q12) resulting from a balanced translocation in the mother. The propositus suffers from mental deficiency, deafness and extreme muscular weakness and exhibits cleft palate, a labial lymphangioma and an atrial septum defect. Since the features of partial trisomy 11q23 frequently associated with a translocation t(11q;22q) bear similarities with the cases of so called trisomy 22 one might conjecture that some of these observations are in fact products of translocations including partial 11q.  相似文献

Summary R banding of the fine structure of the chromatids has enabled us to study a new case of trisomy for the short arm of chromosome 9. The syndrome+9p was due to nondisjunction of a maternal translocation t(9;20)(q12;p13).  相似文献
