Hydroponic experiments were conducted to investigate the effect of arsenic on seedlings of Wrightia arborea and Holoptelea integrifolia. Results revealed that W. arborea could tolerate much higher arsenic concentration than H. integrifolia. Therefore, further investigations were focused on W. arborea using higher arsenic concentrations (0.2–2.0 mM). Seedlings of W. arborea accumulated about 312–2147 and 1048–5688 mg/kg dry weight of arsenic in shoots and roots, respectively, following treatments with 0.2–1.5 mM of arsenic without exhibiting arsenic toxicity signs. However, arsenic at 2.0 mM caused decline in growth. Macronutrients content such as Ca, S (except at 2.0 mM), and K (only in root) increased while Mg, P, and K (shoot) decreased by arsenic treatments. However, the content of micronutrients was enhanced under arsenic treatments. Non-protein thiols (NP-SH) showed positive correlations with arsenic doses up to 0.2–1.5 mM but at 2.0 mM there was a decline in NP-SH thus suggesting important role of NP-SH in imparting arsenic tolerance. This study demonstrated that W. arborea that could tolerate arsenic concentrations up to 0.2–1.5 mM may be useful in arsenic phytoremediation programs.  相似文献

通过盆栽实验研究了线辣椒和玉米间作对其植株生长、矿质养分吸收、根际环境以及铁载体分泌的影响,以探索间作促进铁、磷等养分吸收利用的可能生理机制.结果表明:(1)与单作相比,间作线辣椒地上部干重降低23.0%,根系干重增加44.2%,玉米地上部和根系的干重分别增加8.7%和22.9%;间作线辣椒根冠比和根系活力分别显著提高86.4%和29.8%;间作线辣椒、玉米叶绿素含量分别显著提高12.6%和7.8%.(2)与单作相比,间作线辣椒的铁、锌、锰含量分别增加1.50倍、1.39倍和1.34%,而间作玉米则无显著变化;间作线辣椒和玉米的钙含量都显著低于相应单作,氮含量没有显著变化,但磷、钾含量显著增加.(3)间作线辣椒和玉米的根际土、非根际土的酸性磷酸酶活性及根系酸性磷酸酶活性都显著高于相应单作,而其根际土和非根际土的pH值无显著变化;间作玉米根系的铁载体分泌比单作减少32.8%,间作线辣椒根系的铁还原酶活性是单作的1.10倍.研究发现,线辣椒/玉米间作能通过影响根际生物学特征和化学过程提高植株的铁、锌、磷和钾养分水平,缓解养分胁迫,是一种很有推广价值的种植模式.  相似文献

生物结皮有可能通过物理、水文、养分循环影响与之相邻的维管植物,但二者相互关系尚存在着争议。本文以新疆古尔班通古特沙漠广泛分布的地衣结皮为研究对象,分析了生物结皮对3种荒漠草本植物:尖喙牻牛儿苗(Erodium oxyrrhynchum)、条叶庭芥(Alyssum linifolium)和琉苞菊(Hyalea pulchella)的生长及其对元素吸收的影响。研究结果表明:(1)生物结皮对3种荒漠草本植物生长的影响在生长期不同阶段存在差异。在前期,生物结皮的存在促进了植物生物量的累积;而后期,生物结皮却抑制了植物生长。生物结皮的存在显著影响了荒漠草本植物生物量的累积和冠根比。(2)生物结皮的存在显著增加了3种荒漠草本植物对N和K的吸收,而对P的吸收没有显著影响。生物结皮对3种植物Cu、Ca、Mg、Na、Cl的吸收存在种间差异。本研究结果将为该荒漠生态系统潜在的植被演替方向提供重要的科学根据。  相似文献

A pico sized Synechococcus species isolated from Lake Balaton was studied in batch and continuous cultures. This picocyanobacterium had a pH optimum at 8.5 and a temperature optimum at 28-30°C. The Ik value for growth was 52 μEinstein m−2 S−1, the maximum growth rate 2.27 d−1, the half saturation Constant of growth 1.2 μg PO4-P I−1 and the minimal cell quota 1.74 nig P g dry weight−1. The dry weight of cells showed a minimum, the chlorophyll-a/biomass ratio a maximum as a function of growth rate. Above the quota of 3.4 fg P Cell−1 significant amounts of non-reactive dissolved Phosphorous were released.  相似文献

An important goal of native plant restorations was to reconstitute populations that are genetically similar to native ones, thereby increasing the probably of successful establishment and persistence. We examined the extent to which this goal has been accomplished in Great Lakes restorations of Ammophila breviligulata Fern., a beachgrass species that is widely used for habitat restoration and is considered threatened in the study areas. In parallel studies on Lake Michigan and Lake Superior, we used polymorphic Intersimple Sequence Repeat markers to assess genetic similarity between well‐established and new native populations, restored populations, and restoration propagules obtained from two commercial suppliers. Native populations were generally more diverse than expected for a clonal species, whereas the commercially cultivated releases were monotypic. One of the commercial releases used in Minnesota was exclusively found in restored populations and did not occur in any other native population at this site. The propagules used in the newly planted restoration in Illinois were derived from a release that commercial suppliers maintain was derived from a native Michigan population, as opposed to a selected release. Diversity in this restoration was equivalent to that native Illinois’ populations; however, many of the genotypes were not of local origin. Overall, study underscores the importance of obtaining baseline genetic surveys of remnant native populations and restoration propagules before restoration efforts are initiated, especially when the populations are threatened or endangered.  相似文献

Water uptake, used as an indication of transpiration, and viscousflow resistance, used as an indication of stomatal aperture,were measured for leaves or shoots of 26 species in a leaf chamber.The relative humidity of the air in the chamber was varied betweenapproximately 15 and 90%. Stomata of 10 species showed a directresponse to humidity. The humidity response was not related to the number of ectodesmataor to the arrangement of vascular tissues. Those species whichshowed a direct stomatal response to humidity were found tohave, on average, larger substomatal cavities (measured in transversesection) than the other species. The presence or absence ofthe humidity response is not linked to the normal habitat ofa species, but seems to be related to its phylogeny.  相似文献

5-Aminolevulinic acid (ALA) promoted the growth and yield of several crops and vegetables at concentrations lower than those eliciting herbicidal responses, i.e., less than 1.8 mm by foliar spray and 60 μm by root soaking. To evaluate the physiological action of ALA, the effects of ALA on plants were examined by several bioassay systems at 0.0006–600 μm. ALA at 0.06–6 μm by root soaking increased the growth of rice seedlings in light, but did not affect this in darkness. In horseradish shoot primordia, promotion by ALA was not proportional among total chlorophyll content, chlorophyll concentration, and fresh weight. In the test using pothos, ALA at 0.06 μm elicited the accumulation of chlorophyll, but the photosynthesis of the plants was promoted by treatment together with ALA and nutrients. These results suggest that ALA have a variety of plant physiological effects on chlorophyll synthesis, photosynthesis, and plant growth, and ALA acts as a growth regulator in plants at low concentrations. These effects of ALA were also assumed to be linked to light irradiation and an uptake of fertilizer by plants. However, excess ALA suppressed these effects.  相似文献

目的:研究遮荫对掌叶半夏生长、药材产量和光合生理指标的影响,分析适宜掌叶半夏药材高产的遮荫度,探寻其产量差异形成的光合生理机制。方法:采用遮荫网遮荫,共设置了5种光强处理,透光率分别为全光对照CK(100%)、T1(75%)、T2(65%)、T3(50%)、T4(25%),测定各遮荫处理下掌叶半夏的株高、单株叶片数、单株叶面积、单片叶面积、药材产量、叶绿素含量、光合日进程和叶绿素荧光参数。结果:(1)遮荫可显著(P〈0.01)提高掌叶半夏的株高、单株叶面积和叶绿素含量;(2)光合日进程曲线测定结果表明,除T4处理外其他处理均发生光合"午休"现象,日平均光合速率(Pn)以T1处理最高,绝对光能利用率(Eu)以T3处理最高;(3)叶绿素荧光参数测定结果表明,CK的Fv/Fm最低,发生的原因可能与PSⅡ反应中心的光化学伤害有关;(4)药材产量以T2处理最高,较CK增产56.34%。结论:掌叶半夏更适宜在遮荫条件下栽培,透光率在65%时有利于掌叶半夏药材高产,其产量差异的形成可能与日均光合速率的不均衡有关。  相似文献

 在甘肃民勤沙生植物园内利用植物蒸腾耗水量观测场,研究了两种优势旱生植物沙木蓼(Atraphaxis frutescens)和沙枣(Elaeagnus angustifolia)叶片中的叶绿素、可溶性糖、淀粉和N、P、K含量等对不同地下水深度(1~3.4 m)的响应。结果表明:1) 1.4 m、2.4 m和3.4 m 3种不同的地下水深度处理,产生了3种差异显著的土壤水分梯度;2) 地下水深度的变化导致了这两种旱生植物叶绿素a、叶绿素b、叶绿素总量、叶绿素a与叶绿素b的比值等的显著变化(p<0.01);3) 地下水深度的增加引起了两种植物叶片可溶性糖含量的升高和淀粉含量的降低;4) 地下水深度的增加引起了两种植物叶片中N、P、K含量的降低;5) 不同的地下水深度引起沙枣和沙木蓼叶绿素a、叶绿素b、叶绿素总量、叶绿素a与叶绿素b的比值、N、P、K含量、可溶性糖和淀粉增加或减少的程度不同。沙枣是非豆科固氮植物,两者的差异是否与固氮作用相关还有待于进一步研究。  相似文献

Potato production in the tropical lowlands during the rainyseason is constrained by high temperature and low irradiance.This study examined the effect of these two variables on drymatter production and allocation, using plant growth, leaf anatomy,gas exchange and chlorophyll fluorescence measurements. Plantsof two clones, Solanum goniocalyx cv. Garhuash Huayro (GH) andDTO-33, a heat tolerant clone of S. tuberosum x S. phureja,were grown in growth chambers at 33/25 °C or 20/10 °Cday/night temperature. At each temperature, plants were grownin either 12 h high irradiance (430–450 µmol m–2s–1 PAR) or 12 h low irradiance (250–280 µmolm–2 s–1) both with a 6–h photoperiod extensionof 6 µmol m–2 s–1. Plants were harvested after10 d (initial harvest) and after 20 d (final harvest). By theend of the study DTO-33 had produced more dry matter and hadtuberized, whereas GH had a greater leaf area ratio (LAR) andspecific leaf area (SLA). The highest relative growth rate (RGR)was at low temperature and low irradiance, possibly due to acombination of thin leaves with a large surface area. At thehigh temperature, low irradiance had the opposite effect, producingthe lowest net assimilation rate (NAR) and lowest RGR. Bothtuber number and weight were markedly reduced by high temperature.Low irradiance, in combination with high temperature, producedvirtually no tubers. Stomatal density, which was greater onGH than in DTO-33, was increased at high temperature. When measuredat 30 °C both clones, especially DTO-33, showed heat-adaptationin terms of ability to maintain a high rate of net photosynthesisat 30 °C. Plants grown at high irr-adiance and low temperaturehad the lowest net photosynthetic rate at 30 °C. Concurrentmeasurements of chlorophyll fluorescence indicated that onlythe initial (O) fluorescence parameter was affected. The dataconfirm the field observation that reduction in potato growthat high temperature can be aggravated by lower irradiance. Thisreduction is associated with a reduced leaf area and NAR. Erodium paularense Fern. Gonz. & Izco (Geraniaceae) is a perennial, endemic species of central Spain. The restricted distribution of its three populations has made it necessary to consider measures for conservation. Random amplified polymorphic DNA markers were used to determine genetic variation among and within populations. Sixty-three per cent of the bands were polymorphic. No population-specific marker was identified. Cluster analysis based on Jaccard's coefficient of all the individuals grouped most of them according to the present populations. Within-population variability was of a similar order in the three populations. Highly significant genetic differences between populations were detected through AMOVA . Within population diversity contributed 80–85% to the species diversity, a value typical of an outbreeding plant.  相似文献

Several fast‐growing and multipurpose trees such as exotic and valuable native species have been widely used in West Africa to reverse the tendency of massive degradation of plant cover and restore soil productivity. Although benefic effects have been reported on soil stabilization, a lack of information about their impact on soil symbiotic microorganisms still remains. This investigation has been carried out in field trees of 28 years old in a forest reserve at Bandia. To determine the mycorrhizal inoculum potential (MIP) of soils, a mycorrhizal bioassay was conducted using seedlings of Zea mays L. Spores concentration, arbuscular mycorrhizal (AM) fungi morphotypes and mycorrhizal colonization of field plants were examined. Results showed that fungal communities were dominated in all samples by the genus Glomus. Nevertheless, the others genera Gigaspora and Scutellospora occurred preferentially out of the plantations. The number and richness of spores as well as the MIP of soils were decreased in the tree plantations. Accordingly, the amount of annual herbaceous plants kept out of the tree plantations was much greater than those under the tree plantations. The colonization was higher in field root systems of herb plants in comparison with that of the tree plants. Comparisons allowed us to conclude that vegetation type modifies the AM fungal communities, and the results suggest further adoption of management practices that could improve or sustain the development of herbaceous layers and thus promote the AM fungal communities.  相似文献

Abstract Poor growth of Quercus robur L. (oak) trees has been reported on mine sites where overburden and subsoil have been used in the reinstatement of surface layers. This stunting has been attributed to a lack of macronutrients and to an adverse soil environment for root growth and mycorrhizal development. Growth, mineral nutrition, and ectomycorrhizal colonization of Q. robur seedlings were studied in an experiment carried out under controlled growing conditions in which mine spoil material was enriched with a leaf litter mulch. Enrichment of mine spoil material was found to produce a significant increase in growth and foliar N concentrations of oak seedlings. Inoculation with three taxa of ectomycorrhizal fungi did not benefit seedlings when mine spoil was the only substrate, possibly due to the poor physical properties of the unamended spoil and lack of nutrients. Inoculation with two taxa, Laccaria laccata and Hebeloma crustuliniforme, isolated from 3‐year‐old trees produced a significant stimulation of growth in the organically enriched treatment, which was believed to be due to greater uptake of mineralized N. However, Cortinarius anomalus isolated from fruit bodies associated with a 15‐year‐old tree did not increase biomass. The presence of organic matter was found to result in a significant stimulation of mycorrhizal infection by both inoculum and contaminant mycobionts. Recommendations are made for improving the establishment and growth of oak seedlings on reinstated sites.  相似文献

The main objective of this study was to investigate the accumulation and distribution of strontium (Sr) in 26 cultivars of wheat (Triticum aestivum L.), husk oat (Avena sativa L) and naked oat (Avena nuda), and barley (Hordeum vulgare L.) for their potential use in phytoremediation.Sr levels had no effect on the accumulation of shoot biomass at tillering or at maturity. Mean shoot Sr concentration of naked oat and barley at tillering was significantly (P < 0.05) higher than that of wheat; Neimengkeyimai-1, a naked oat cultivar, had the highest Sr concentrations. At maturity, of four naked oat cultivars, Neimengkeyimai-1 had the highest Sr content at all measured Sr levels. Leaves had the highest Sr concentrations, followed by roots and straw, and then grain with the lowest. Mean enrichment coefficients from soil to shoots ranged from 0.521 to 1.343; the percentage of stable Sr removed from the soil to the shoots at harvest time was more than 1.4% after 120 days. Neimengkeyimai-1 could be used as a model for further research to find more effective cultivars; and naked oat plants could be selected for phytoremediation to clean up contaminated soil.  相似文献

Aim We sampled riverine macrophyte communities and environmental conditions to compare drivers of alien and native abundance and to provide a general set of environmental correlates of invasion by aquatic macrophytes. Location Streams adjacent to three land‐use types (intensive, agricultural and natural) across a large latitudinal gradient (approximately 27° S–43° S) in Australia. Sites were located near Brisbane (Queensland), Sydney (New South Wales), Canberra (Australian Capital Territory), Melbourne (Victoria) and Hobart (Tasmania). Methods Alien and native aquatic plant species cover, water quality, forest canopy and adjacent land use were measured in three catchment locations (low‐, mid‐ and upper‐catchment) in all cities. Mean richness and cover of native and alien macrophytes were compared in the five cities, three catchment locations, and three land‐use types. Correlation tests examined relationships between alien and native richness at transect, site and city scales. Canonical correspondence analysis (CCA) determined the effects of environment on cover and richness of native and alien plant groups (emergents, floating, forbs/other, graminoids and submerged). Results Variation existed in the aquatic plant community at all scales, but strong patterns emerged with respect to land use and environmental gradients. Alien abundance was more responsive to anthropogenic disturbance (e.g. greater in intensive and agricultural land‐use types, and greater where dissolved nutrients and conductivity were high) than natives, which were unaffected by land‐use type and less responsive overall to environmental gradients. Native and alien richness were uncorrelated at all scales. Main conclusions Natives and aliens of the same life form did not respond similarly to the environment, suggesting inherent differences in their ability to capitalize on anthropogenic disturbance. Our results suggest invasion‐susceptible habitats are those that receive nutrient pollutants and that occur in urban and agricultural areas low in the catchment. Our confidence in these patterns is strengthened by their consistency across a large latitudinal gradient.  相似文献

As drivers of global change, biological invasions have fundamental ecological consequences. However, it remains unclear how invasive plant effects on resident animals vary across ecosystems, animal classes, and functional groups. We performed a comprehensive meta‐analysis covering 198 field and laboratory studies reporting a total of 3624 observations of invasive plant effects on animals. Invasive plants had reducing (56%) or neutral (44%) effects on animal abundance, diversity, fitness, and ecosystem function across different ecosystems, animal classes, and feeding types while we could not find any increasing effect. Most importantly, we found that invasive plants reduced overall animal abundance, diversity and fitness. However, this significant overall effect was contingent on ecosystems, taxa, and feeding types of animals. Decreasing effects of invasive plants were most evident in riparian ecosystems, possibly because frequent disturbance facilitates more intense plant invasions compared to other ecosystem types. In accordance with their immediate reliance on plants for food, invasive plant effects were strongest on herbivores. Regarding taxonomic groups, birds and insects were most strongly affected. In insects, this may be explained by their high frequency of herbivory, while birds demonstrate that invasive plant effects can also cascade up to secondary consumers. Since data on impacts of invasive plants are rather limited for many animal groups in most ecosystems, we argue for overcoming gaps in knowledge and for a more differentiated discussion on effects of invasive plant on native fauna.  相似文献
