We report the migration of Manayunkia speciosa from its distribution in North America into the Neotropical Region (Argentina). We collected specimens from November 2007 to March 2009 in the lower Uruguay River-at 33° 5.01′S 58° 12′W, 33° 5.9′S 58°25.2′W from sediments reaching densities of 2,890 ind. m−2, at a mean abundance of 350 ind. m−2. Introductions of nonindigenous species, resulting intentionally or accidentally from anthropic activities, cause significant changes in ecosystems. In aquatic environments, polychaetes are a key invasive group that increases the geographical range of several species through human activities. M. speciosa may have reached the Río de la Plata Basin through a shipping vector and thereafter the Uruguay River by self-navigation.  相似文献

Summary  A new monotypic genus and a new species of Monimiaceae, Grazielanthus arkeocarpus from the Brazilian Atlantic coastal forest are described, illustrated and compared with morphologically related taxa. The new taxon occurs in the State of Rio de Janeiro in the central coastal plain and was collected in the Po?o das Antas Biological Reserve, municipality of Silva Jardim (22°30′– 22°33′S; 42°14′– 42°19′W). The new taxon is represented by dioecious climbing shrubs of the sub-canopy that have urceolate, four-lobed flowers and a fleshy hypanthium that is closed until the fruit ripens. When ripe, the hypanthium ruptures irregularly and the fruitlets are exposed. The relationships between the new genus and other neotropical (Hennecartia J. Poiss. and Macrotorus Perkins) and paleotropical (Palmeria F. Muell.) genera are discussed.  相似文献

The American rotifer Kellicottia bostoniensis (Rousselet, 1908) was first recorded in the Kama Reservoir (Kama River, Middle Volga basin) in 2012. The species was found in over 70% of the samples; its maximum abundance was 2000 ind./m3. This alien species co-existed with closely related native species K. longispina (Kellicott). This is the easternmost location (56°–57° E) for K. bostoniensis in the Volga River basin and in Europe.  相似文献

Several paleolithic sites (or localities) with cultural characteristics in common have been found in South China in recent years. They are paleolithic sites in Beise, Guangxi; in the upper reaches of the Han River, Shaanxi; Shuiyang River, Anhui; Li River and Yuan River, Human; Liao River, Jiangxi; etc.. The sites show some similarities in the stone tool industry which are as follows; large tools are more common than small ones; pebble tools are more common than flakes; and the chopper/chopping tools are more common than scrapers. This indicates that the paleolithic cultures in South China are part of the pebble tool — chopper/chopping tool tradition which is similar to that in Southeast Asia, but has many differences in certain aspects from the culture of North China. The area where the sites have been found covers large parts of Southeast China, including the Yangtze River valley (23°50′–33°5′ N, 104°38′–119° E).  相似文献

Based on the maritime data collected from 23°30′–33°00′ N and 118°30′–128°00′ E of the East China Sea (ECS) in four seasons during 1997–2000, the dynamics of medusae diversity and their causes were analyzed. A total of 103 medusae species were identified, and these species mainly distributed in the southern and northern offshore areas of the ECS. Species diversity index (H′) of medusae was higher in the south than those in the north, higher in summer and winter than in spring and autumn, and higher in offshore than in the nearshore areas. The species number was closely correlated with H′ value, whereas the abundance of species had no significant relationship with the diversity index. The lower H′ value of the nearshore in spring and autumn resulted from the aggregation of Muggiaea atlantica in the south nearshore and Diphyes chamissonis in the north nearshore. In addition, water temperature, followed by salinity, is the main environmental factor influencing the distribution of species diversity. The H′ value was related to the water temperature at the 10 m layer in winter and spring, and it was associated with the surface water temperature in summer and with the 10 m-salinity-layer in autumn. In spring and summer, the isoline distribution of H′ value reflected the direction of the Taiwan Warm Current and the variation of the water masses in the ECS. In winter, the isoline of the H′ value indicated the incursion of Kuroshio current. Two beaked whales identified as Sowerby's beaked whale (Mesoplodon bidens) were observed in sea state 0–1 on 16 July 1995 at 71°30′N 04°00′E in the Norwegian Sea. A number of morphological features, such as dentition, were clearly seen during the encounter. The Sowerby's beaked whale's core distribution is in the North Sea and the previous northernmost sighting was made at 63°06′N 00°41′E. According to the literature, the species has never been recorded in the polar zone. The sighting in the Norwegian Sea suggests that the current data on the species distribution is uncertain, and that its range may include the polar waters of the Norwegian Sea. Much of the primary vegetation at low altitudes has been greatly altered or destroyed by a long history of human activities. This is particularly true in eastern China, where low-altitude areas are now dominated by secondary forests or plantations. Altitudinal vegetation zonation of this region is often based on these secondary forests, resulting in seral vegetation with an obscure zonal sequence. Here, we deduced the potential climax vegetation according to the regeneration patterns of the dominant species of the secondary forests at low altitudes (below 1,000 m a.s.l.) on Mt. Tianmu (1,506 m a.s.l., 30°18′30″–30°21′37″N, 119°24′11″–119°27′11″E). Based on the potential climax vegetation combined with the floristic composition and community structure, three vegetation zones were identified, viz: (1) evergreen broad-leaved forest zone (400–950 m a.s.l.); (2) evergreen and deciduous broad-leaved mixed forest zone (950–1,100 m a.s.l.); (3) deciduous broad-leaved forest zone (1,100–1,506 m a.s.l.). The altitudinal vegetation zones identified in this study correspond with the thermal conditions on Mt. Tianmu. The distribution of vegetation on Mt. Tianmu was limited by lower temperatures in winter, and the altitudinal thermal vegetation zones on this mountain were more similar to the thermal vegetation of Japan than to that of China. The vertical distributions and roles of conifers were different between the eastern and the western regions along 30°N latitude in humid East Asia. Cryptomeria fortunei formed the emergent layer, towering above the broad-leaved canopy at middle altitudes as C. japonica on Yakushima, but disappeared at high altitudes with hydrothermal limitation on Mt. The earthworm Drawida ghilarovi Gates 1969 is a typical representative of the Amur fauna and the only species of the tropic family Moniligastridae on the territory of Russia. The northern boundary of its range passes from the Khingan (Hinggan) River on the west, along the mountain framing of the Amur plains, to Evoron Lake (or, probably, to the Amgun River valley) on the east. Drawida ghilarovi is widespread in the Sikhote Alin, but the northern boundary of its distribution in the northern part of this mountain range has not been delimited; the same applies to the left bank of the Amur downstream of Komsomolsk-on-Amur and its lower reaches. These earthworms lay cocoons in summer in the surface soil horizon (0–20 cm) and overwinter also at a depth of only 15–20 cm, although D. ghilarovi is classified as an anecic (deep burrower) species (Vsevolodova-Perel, 1997). The median lethal temperature (LT50%) is about −15°C for cocoons and −12°C for worms; the minimum tolerable temperature, about −20 and −16°C, respectively. The mechanism of protection against freezing in cocoons involves a decrease in water content from an average of 71.1 ± 0.8% to a minimum of 39.8%; this decrease in worms is less significant: from 85.5 ± 0.8% (feeding worms) to 75.3 ± 0.7% (wintering worms). Since the development of juveniles in cocoons is completed by autumn, the critical factor is the minimum temperature to which the worms are exposed. In woodless areas near Khabarovsk, the average soil temperature at a depth of 40 cm during the coldest month is only 2–3°C higher than LT50% (the difference is greater in forest habitats), and the minimal temperature should be still lower. Under current climatic conditions, D. ghilarovi could have inhabited the area extending over the Zeya River basin and, in the north, to the sources of left-bank tributaries of the middle and lower reaches of the Amur (not everywhere, but in the warmest habitats). The present-day boundaries of the D. ghilarovi appear to reflect past changes in climatic and soil conditions.  相似文献

Studies were carried out in 2000–2007 near Medusa Bay (73°21′N, 80°32′ E) and along the Agapa River (from 70°11′N, 86°15′ E. down to the mouth 71°26′ N, 89°13′ E), in the northwestern and central parts of the Taimyr Peninsula. White-fronted goose nests are usually spread in the tundra or placed in 1–3 nest colonies near nests or staging points of snowy owls, peregrine falcons, or rough-legged buzzards. The intent of white-fronted geese to breed near birds of prey or owls increases sharply when arctic fox numbers are high. In the area near Medusa Bay, white-fronted geese nest much closer to peregrine falcon nests than in the area along the Agra River. At the latter location, white-fronted geese lose the competition to red-breasted geese, which are more numerous here. Bean geese, in spite of their greater size and ability to protect their nests against arctic foxes, really tend to breed near peregrine falcons or buzzards, where they manage to compete with red-breasted geese.  相似文献

The Yunnan snub-nosed monkey (Rhinopithecus bieti), an endangered species in China, has received more protection in theory than in practice. Therefore it is on the very verge of extinction. The population of the species was estimated less than 2,000 individuals spread in 19 distinct groups. It was confirmed that the monkey was confined to the Yunling Mountain System, the area between the Yangtze River (Changjiang, aka Jinshajiang) to the east and the Mekong River (Lancangjiang) to the west. We further concluded that a lowland belt to the east, about 100 km long and 20 – 30 km wide was not suitable habitat for the monkeys, and appeared to serve as the natural ecogeologic barrier for the species. Our results indicated that the southern limit of the distribution was at Longma (26°14′N), and that the northern limit of the distribution was at Xiaochangdu (29°20′N). The distribution area of the species was substantially smaller than previously estimated. There were substantial ecological differences between the southern and northern parts of the species range. The autolysis of yeast cells has practical implications in the production of fermented foods and beverages and flavourants for food processing. Protein and RNA degradation during yeast autolysis are well described but the fate of DNA is unclear. Yeast cells (Saccharomyces cerevisiae) were autolysed by incubating suspensions at 30–60°C (pH 7.0), and at pH 4.0–7.0 (40°C) for 10–14 days. Up to 55% of total DNA was degraded, with consequent leakage into the extracellular environment of mainly 3′- and 5′-deoxyribonucleotides, and lesser amounts of polynucleotides. The rate and extent of DNA degradation, composition of the DNA degradation products and DNase activity were affected by temperature and pH. The highest amount of DNA degradation occurred at 40°C and pH 7.0, where the highest DNase activity was recorded. Autolytic degradation of yeast RNA occurs in many foods and beverages and can impact on the sensory quality of the product, but the resulting complex mixture of nucleotides, nucleosides and nucleobases has not been properly characterised. In this study, yeast autolysis was induced by incubating cell suspensions of Saccharomyces cerevisiae at 30–60 °C (pH 7.0), and at pH 4.0–7.0 (40 °C) for 10–14 days, and the RNA degradation products formed during the process were determined by reversed-phase HPLC. Up to 95% of cell RNA was degraded, with consequent leakage into the extracellular environment of mainly 3′-, 5′- and 2′-ribonucleotides, and lesser amounts of polynucleotides, ribonucleosides and nucleobases. The rate of RNA degradation and the composition of the breakdown products varied with temperature and pH. RNA degradation was fastest at 50 °C (pH 7.0). Autolysis at lower temperatures (30 °C and 40 °C) and at pH 5.0 and 6.0 favoured the formation of 3′-nucleotides, whereas autolysis at 40 °C and 50 °C (pH 7.0) favoured 5′- and 2′-nucleotides. The best conditions for the formation of the two flavour-enhancing nucleotides, 5′-AMP and 5′-GMP, were 50 °C (pH 7.0) and pH 4.0 (40 °C), respectively.  相似文献

Vegetation classification is an important topic in plant ecology and many quantitative techniques for classification have been developed in the field. The artificial neural network is a comparatively new tool for data analysis. The self-organizing feature map (SOFM) is powerful tool for clustering analysis. SOFM has been applied to many research fields and it was applied to the classification of plant communities in the Pangquangou Nature Reserve in the present work. Pangquangou Nature Reserve, located at 37°20′–38°20′ N, 110°18′–111°18′ E, is a part of the Luliang Mountain range. Eighty-nine samples (quadrats) of 10m × 10m for forest, 4m × 4 m for shrubland and 1m × 1m for grassland along an elevation gradient, were set up and species data was recorded in each sample. After discussion of the mathematical algorism, clustering technique and the procedure of SOFM, the classification was carried out by using NNTool box in MATLAB (6.5). As a result, the 89 samples were clustered into 13 groups representing 13 types of plant communities. The characteristics of each community were described. The result of SOFM classification was identical to the result of fuzzy c-mean clustering and consistent with the distribution patterns of vegetation in the study area and shows significant ecological meanings. Four strains of Kappaphycus alvarezii were cultivated in the subtropical waters of Florianópolis, Santa Catarina State, Brazil (27°29′19′′ S/48°32′28′′ W), from February 2009 to February 2010. Seaweeds were cultivated on floating raft near of mussel farms. Salinity ranged from 29 to 36 psu and temperature from 17.1 to 28.5°C. Higher growth rates (5.12–4.29% day−1) were measured in summer and autumn, showing a positive correlation between growth rate and water temperature. Lower growth rates (0.54–0.32% day−1) occurred in winter, resulted mainly by biomass loss. Significant differences were observed among the strains in spring and the brown tetrasporophytic strain was the only one which failed to recover, being excluded of the experiments. The effect of cultivation periods (36, 42, and 97 days) on carrageenan yield, gel strength, and viscosity were analyzed. Carrageenan yields were higher for plants kept 42 days in the sea (28%), against 25% for 36 and 97 days. There were no significant differences in carrageenan yield among the strains analyzed. Viscosity increased with the increase of cultivation period, while gel strength seemed to vary at random. Tetrasporangia and cystocarps were not observed, and lost fragments did not attach outside the raft. In general, dissolved inorganic nitrogen concentration decreased around the cultivation area as compared to the mussel farm. Results show that cultivation of K. alvarezii is technically feasible in subtropical waters and can be associated with local mussel farms, mitigating the eutrophication and, eventually, increasing the economic return of the farmers.  相似文献

We have undertaken a complete kinetic analysis of the template-directed oligoguanylate synthesis originated in Orgel's laboratory (Inoue and Orgel, 1982). The reaction of guanosine 5′-phospho-2-methylimidazolide, 2-MelmpG, with ribooligoguanylates all 3′–5′ linked, designatedn 3 withn=7−12, was studied in the presence/absence of the complementary template polycytidylic acid, poly(C). Conditions were chosen where poly(C) and 2-MelmpG are in large excess over the oligoguanylate. In the absence of the template at 37 °C the reaction leads to three isomeric oligomers that are elongated by one monomer unit. They are the 3′–5′ linked, (n+1)3, the 2′–5′ linked, (n+1)2, and the pyrophosphate product, (n+1) p , formed in an approximate ratio 1:2:5. In the presence of the template the reaction is 20-fold faster and yields productsn+1,n+2,n+3 etc. as long as 2-MelmpG is available. Most importantly the formation of the natural, 3′–5′ linked isomer, is enhanced selectively by 140-fold at 37 °C. Qualitative observations allow the conclusion that this enhancement is temperature dependent and increases with decreasing temperature. For example, at 1 °C only the 3′–5′ linked isomers were detected. Initial rates for the disappearance of then 3 oligoguanylate were determined at 1, 23, and 37 °C. It was found that the pseudo-first order rate constant for oligoguanylate elongation was linearly proportional to the 2-MelmpG concentration. This implies that the reaction complex poly(C)·n 3·2-MelmpG does not accumulate under the reaction conditions, a conclusion which is also supported by infrared data (Miles and Frazier, 1982). The implication of the above results with respect to chemical evolution is that lower temperatures, i.e., close to freezing, enhance the regioselectivity of these template-directed reactions and that one way to improve replication models may be sought in finding conditions that favor stable reaction complexes.  Direct cyclic voltammetry and 1H NMR spectroscopy have been combined to investigate the electrochemical and spectroscopic properties of cytochrome c 553 isolated from the alkaliphilic soil bacterium Bacillus pasteurii. A quasi-reversible diffusion-controlled redox process is exhibited by cytochrome c 553 at a pyrolitic graphite edge microelectrode. The temperature dependence of the reduction potential, measured using a non-isothermal electrochemical cell, revealed a discontinuity at 308 K. The thermodynamic parameters determined in the low-temperature range (275–308 K;ΔS°′=–162.7±1.2 J mol–1 K–1, ΔH°′=–53.0±0.5 kJ mol–1, ΔG°′=–4.5±0.1 kJ mol–1, E°′=+47.0±0.6 mV) indicate the presence of large enthalpic and entropic effects, leading, respectively, to stabilization and destabilization of the reduced form of cytochrome c 553. Both effects are more accentuated in the high-temperature range (308–323 K;ΔS°′=–294.1±8.4 J mol–1 K–1, ΔH°′=–93.4±3.1 kJ mol–1, ΔG°′=–5.8±0.6 kJ mol–1, E°′=+60.3±5.8 mV), with the net result being a slight increase of the standard reduction potential. These thermodynamic parameters are interpreted using the compensation theory of hydration of biopolymers as indicating the extrusion, upon reduction, of water molecules from the hydration sphere of the cytochrome. The low-T and high-T conformers differ by the number of water molecules in the solvation sphere: in the high-T conformer, the number of water molecules extruded upon reduction increases, as compared to the low-T conformer. The ionic strength dependence of the reduction potential at 298 K, treated within the frame of extended Debye-Hückel theory, yields values of E °′ (I=0) =–25.4±1.4 mV, z red=–11.3, and z ox=–10.3. The pH dependence of the reduction potential at 298 K shows a plateau in the pH range 7–10 and an increase at more acidic pH, allowing the calculation of pK O=5.5 and pK R=5.7, together with the estimate of the reduction potentials of completely protonated (+71 mV) and deprotonated (+58 mV) forms of cytochrome c 553. 1H NMR spectra of the oxidized paramagnetic cytochrome c 553 indicate the presence of a His-Met axial coordination of the low-spin (S=1/2) heme iron, which is maintained in the temperature interval 288–340 K at pH 7 and in the pH range 4.8–10.0 at 298 K. The temperature dependence of the hyperfine-shifted signals shows both Curie-type and anti-Curie-type behavior, with marked deviations from linearity, interpreted as indicating the presence of a fast equilibrium between the low-T and high-T conformers, having slightly different heme electronic structures resulting from the T-induced conformational change. Increasing the NaCl concentration in the range 0–0.2 M causes a slight change of the 1H NMR chemical shifts of the hyperfine-shifted signals, with no influence on their linewidth. The calculated lower limit value of the apparent affinity constant for specific ion binding is estimated as 5.2±1.1 M–1. The pH dependence of the isotropically shifted 1H NMR signals of the oxidized cytochrome displays at least one ionization step with pK O=5.7. The thermodynamic and spectroscopic data indicate a large solvent-derived entropic effect as the main cause for the observed low reduction potential of B. pasteurii cytochrome c 553. Argas neghmei Kohls & Hoogstraal is a Neotropical tick species parasite of poultry and man in the arid western of the southern cone of America in Argentina and Chile. Males, females and nymphs of an argasid were collected from 20 to 22 of June, 2007 in nests of Creamy-breasted Canastero, Asthenes dorbignyi (Reinchenbach) (Passeriformes: Furnariidae) at about 7 km S of La Poma (24°46′S, 66°12′W) and a male tick at 24°48′S, 66°10′W on Nov 27, 2008, Salta province, Argentina. Scanning electron microscope micrographies and sequences of 16S rDNA confirmed that the ticks found were A. neghmei. Development in breeding areas of A. dorbignyi is probably a source of infestation for animal premises and houses. However, the role of other unknown wild birds may also contribute to the invasion of A. neghmei in chicken houses or residences.  相似文献

The number of phosphate groups in the 5′,5′-polyphosphate bridge of mRNA-cap dinucleotide analogues affects kinetics of long-range electron transfer (ET) responsible for 3-methylbenzimidazole (m3B) fluorescence quenching in model dinucleotides. For instance, 3-methylbenzimidazolyl(5′-5′)guanosine dinucleotides (m3Bp n G, n = 2, 3, 4) having m3B donor, 5′-5′ polyphosphate bridge, and guanine (G) acceptor, exhibit exponential dependence of the ET rate on the number of phosphates, i.e. donor–acceptor distance. Involvement of the 5′-5′ polyphosphate bridge in the ET is strongly indicated by lack of m3B-G stacking effect on the exponential factor, which is the same at 20°C, where m3B-G intramolecular stacking dominates, as that at 75°C where stacking–unstacking equilibrium is shifted in favour of the unstacked structure.  相似文献

Crowding effect in natural populations of three species ofSargassum, subtidal marine macrophytic algae, was investigated by harvesting all plants within a 1×1 m or 0.5×0.5m quadrat located at depths of 3–5m in Tanabe Bay (33°41′N and 135°20′E).Sargassum populations conformed to the same 3/2 power law that holds in many terrestrial plant populations.  相似文献
