In experiments on non-bred males of white rats, the effect was studied on their aggressive behaviour of intraventricular injections of brain-specific proteins of S-100 group, gamma-globuline fraction from the serum of rabbits immunized by proteines S-100 (gamma S-100) and non-immunized rabbits (gamma-SNK) as well as of angiotensin, bradikinin and saline. S-100 lowered intermales aggressivity and that connected with pain, and had phasic inhibitory effects on rats emotional reactivity. gamma S-100 increased the aggressivity connected with pain, did not affect the intermales aggressivity and phasically raised (as well as gamma-SNK) the emotional reactivity. gamma-SNK, angiotensin and bradikinin did not change these kinds of aggressivity. None of the administered agents influenced the level of rats predetary aggressivity.  相似文献

Chronic stress is known to enhance mammals’ emotional reactivity and alters several of their cognitive functions, especially spatial learning. Few studies have investigated such effects in birds. We investigated the impact of a two-week stress on Japanese quail’s emotional reactivity and spatial learning. Quail is an avian model widely used in laboratory studies and for extrapolation of data to other poultry species. As sensitivity to chronic stress can be modulated by intrinsic factors, we tested juvenile female Japanese quail from three lines, two of them divergently selected on tonic immobility duration, an indicator of general fearfulness. The different emotional reactivity levels of quail belonging to these lines can be revealed by a large variety of tests. Half of the birds were submitted to repeated unpredictable aversive events for two weeks, whereas the other half were left undisturbed. After this procedure, two tests (open field and emergence tests) evaluated the emotional reactivity of treated and control quails. They were then trained in a T-maze for seven days and their spatial learning was tested. The chronic stress protocol had an impact on resting, preening and foraging in the home cage. As predicted, the emotional reactivity of treated quails, especially those selected for long tonic immobility duration, was higher. Our spatial learning data showed that the treatment enhanced acquisition but not memorization. However, intrinsic fearfulness did not seem to interact with the treatment in this test. According to an inverted U-shaped relationship between stress and cognition, chronic stress can improve the adaptability of birds to a stressful environment. We discussed the mechanisms possibly implied in the increase of emotional reactivity and spatial abilities.  相似文献

Emotional reactivity of two rat generations was estimated in open field test and by the corticosteroids level under motor restriction after hydrocortisone injections (50 mg/kg) to their mothers (the 1st generation) or grandmothers (the 2nd generation) on 16 and 18 days of gestation. The 3-, 6- or 12-month-old males and females of the 1st generation had decreased emotional reactivity. On the contrary, the animals of the 2nd generation had increased defecation, but decreased ambulation scores in the open field test, that characterised them as more emotional in comparison to the control rats. Thus, the corticosteroids can be a factor of "nongenetic transmission of information" in the development of animals' emotional reactivity mechanisms.  相似文献

Personality features are associated with individual differences in daily emotional life, such as negative and positive affectivity, affect variability and affect reactivity. The existing literature is somewhat mixed and inconclusive about the nature of these associations. The aim of this study was to shed light on what personality features represent in daily life by investigating the effect of the Five Factor traits on different daily emotional processes using an ecologically valid method. The Experience Sampling Method was used to collect repeated reports of daily affect and experiences from 104 healthy university students during one week of their normal lives. Personality traits of the Five Factor model were assessed using NEO Five Factor Inventory. Hierarchical linear modeling was used to analyze the effect of the personality traits on daily emotional processes. Neuroticism predicted higher negative and lower positive affect, higher affect variability, more negative subjective evaluations of daily incidents, and higher reactivity to stressors. Conscientiousness, by contrast, predicted lower average level, variability, and reactivity of negative affect. Agreeableness was associated with higher positive and lower negative affect, lower variability of sadness, and more positive subjective evaluations of daily incidents. Extraversion predicted higher positive affect and more positive subjective evaluations of daily activities. Openness had no effect on average level of affect, but predicted higher reactivity to daily stressors. The results show that the personality features independently predict different aspects of daily emotional processes. Neuroticism was associated with all of the processes. Identifying these processes can help us to better understand individual differences in daily emotional life.  相似文献

Learning performance is influenced by emotional reactivity, low reactivity being generally beneficial. Previous experiments show that emotional reactivity can be modified after a period of social isolation. We hypothesized that eleven days of isolation would affect yearlings' emotional reactivity and improve their learning abilities. Twenty-five yearlings were divided into two groups: 12 were continuously isolated for 11 days (isolated) and 13 stayed together (control). During the period of isolation, all yearlings underwent two learning tasks: a habituation procedure in which a novel object was presented for 120 s every day, either when the horse was alone (isolated) or with conspecifics (control); an instrumental learning task in which the yearling had to walk forwards or backwards to obtain a food reward. At the end of the isolation period, animals performed tests to assess aspects of emotional reactivity: reactivity to novelty, to humans, to social separation, to suddenness and to sensory stimuli. Results showed that isolated yearlings habituated more to the novel object than controls and performed better in the instrumental task. Moreover, they were less reactive to novelty, to social separation and to suddenness than controls. Overall, these data suggest that the better performance of isolated yearlings could be explained by a decrease in their emotional reactivity. The effect of sex differences on the emotional reactivity in the rat (Rattus norvegicus) has been analyzed by means of the open field test and the acquisition of a conditioned emotional response (C.E.R.), according to Estes and Skinner technique. The combined use of C.E.R. and defecation rate techniques shows that males present a higher emotional reactivity than females. The influence of systemic injection of GABA-receptor agonist--phenibut (40 mg/kg, s/c) on open field behavior, behavioral reactivity and changes in respiratory parameters after exposure of negative emotional stimuli was studied in three rabbit groups differentiated by locomotor activity in open field (active, passive and medium-active animals). The injection of phenibut results in decrease of rabbits horizontal locomotor activity and some components of research behavior in open field and also decrease of behavioral reactivity on emotional stimuli. At the same time the probability of both an active orienting exploratory or defensive reactions and passive reactions (freezing) were decreased. The influence of phenibut depended on typological features of rabbits: the most potent effect occurred upon behavior of active rabbits, less on passive animals and practically none on medium-active rabbits. The phenibut injection results in increase of duration of inhalation during exposure to emotional stimuli, whereas it decreased in normal.  相似文献

The influence of mild, emotional stress was investigated for its effect on the immune system by subjecting rats to the one-trial-learning passive avoidance test. The reactivity of the immune system was tested by determining the proliferative response after mitogenic stimulation in vitro as well as the capacity to generate a primary antibody response in vivo after immunization with sheep red blood cells. Our results demonstrate that exposure of rats to a single electric footshock (learning trial) or habituation to the passive avoidance apparatus, induces an increase of the immune response in vitro and in vivo. Thus, emotional stimuli seem to facilitate immunological responsiveness. However, when the animal is confronted with a conflict situation, as tested by the retention of the avoidance response after a single learning trial, the initially enhanced reactivity of the immune system decreases. It is concluded that the immune system is capable of reacting specifically and immediately to distinct psychological stimuli.  相似文献

Female rats demonstrate more considerable increasing of corticosterone synthesis and secretion in comparison with male ones under the conditions of emotional and emotion-pain stress. These differences are not disappeared after castration. The sexual differences in stress reactions of infants are accompanied by lower sensitivity of their adaptation system in relation to stressors. The adult neonatal androgenized females show the same reactivity as normal females under the condition of emotion-pain stress. It is concluded that the sexual differences in stress reactions are genetically determined.  相似文献

Children with attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) experience difficulties related to emotional reactivity and regulation. The current study examines differences in the emotional reactivity and regulation of children with and without ADHD in the context of their real-life experiences of negative emotion using a novel ecologically valid methodology. Eighty-three 8–12-year-old children (46 ADHD, 38 non-ADHD) participated in the study. Children completed the negative emotion narrative recall task, a novel task whereby children provided a narrative recall of a real-life event where they experienced negative emotion. ANCOVA indicated children with ADHD recalled significantly more overall frustration and intense frustration than children without ADHD. Children with ADHD exhibiting more negative emotional reactivity while recalling negative emotions than children without ADHD. The current study suggests that children with ADHD are uniquely impacted by negative emotional experiences and represents an important step in understanding the emotional reactivity and regulation of children with ADHD.  相似文献

The effect of serotoninergic (serotonin, 1-trytophane, imipramime, methysergide), catecholaminergic (noradrenaline, amphetamine, dopamine, 1-DOPA, iproniazid) and cholinergic drugs (physostigmine, atropine, benactyzine) on emotional reactions and orienting-motor activity, as well as the effect of these drugs on shock-elicited aggressiveness enhanced by intraamygdaloid microinjection of acetylcholine was investigated in experiments on amygdalectomized male albino rats. In amygdalectomized animals, as compared to control false-operated rats, the stimulating effect of amphetamine, imipramine, tryptophane and m-cholinoblockators was enhanced and their inhibitory effect was weakened. Bilateral microinjection of cholinergic drugs (acetylcholine, physostigmine and carbacholine) and noradrenaline into the amygdaloid body intensified emotional reactivity and aggressiveness. Microinjection of serotonin and dopamine inhibited aggressiveness and caused facilitaion of orienting-motor activity. It is suggested that the adrenergic system intensifies and serotoninergic system depresses the m-cholinergic trigger mechanism of aggressive behavior in limbico-diencephalic structures.  相似文献

The social behavior of animals, which is partially controlled by genetics, is one of the factors involved in their adaptation to large breeding groups. To understand better the relationships between different social behaviors, fear behaviors and production traits, we analyzed the phenotypic and genetic correlations of these traits in Japanese quail by a second generation crossing of two lines divergently selected for their social reinstatement behavior. Analyses of results for 900 individuals showed that the phenotypic correlations between behavioral traits were low with the exception of significant correlations between sexual behavior and aggressive pecks both at phenotypic (0.51) and genetic (0.90) levels. Significant positive genetic correlations were observed between emotional reactivity toward a novel object and sexual (0.89) or aggressive (0.63) behaviors. The other genetic correlations were observed mainly between behavioral and production traits. Thus, the level of emotional reactivity, estimated by the duration of tonic immobility, was positively correlated with weight at 17 and 65 days of age (0.76 and 0.79, respectively) and with delayed egg laying onset (0.74). In contrast, a higher level of social reinstatement behavior was associated with an earlier egg laying onset (-0.71). In addition, a strong sexual motivation was correlated with an earlier laying onset (-0.68) and a higher number of eggs laid (0.82). A low level of emotional reactivity toward a novel object and also a higher aggressive behavior were genetically correlated with a higher number of eggs laid (0.61 and 0.58, respectively). These results bring new insights into the complex determinism of social and emotional reactivity behaviors in birds and their relationships with production traits. Furthermore, they highlight the need to combine animal welfare and production traits in selection programs by taking into account traits of sociability and emotional reactivity.  相似文献

Inherited and modificational changes of the stress reactivity in two outbreed stocks of wild Norway rats trapped in nature and selected for behaviour were studied. During 18 generations the rats of one stock were selected for the lack of defensive behaviour in the glove test (tame), while in another stock the aggressiveness was maintained by the selection (aggressive). Interstock differences in the brain noradrenaline mechanisms were observed. The emotional stress reactivity of the tame animals was decreased, in comparison with the aggressive ones. Definitive stress reactivity of adult rats was modified by injections of hydrocortisone to their mothers on the 16 and 18 days of gestation. Hormonal treatment changed noradrenaline mechanisms and decreased the reaction to emotional stressor in aggressive rats. The modified level of the stress reactivity of aggressive rats was similar to the definitive level of the tame ones. Hormonal treatment did not modify stress reactivity in tame rats. Thus, the phenotype only emerging in aggressive rats, as a result of hormonal modification, is the inherited norm of the tame animals. However, due to rat selection for the lack of defensive behaviour towards the man, high corticosteroid level in the blood of pregnant females, an external developmental factor, in respect to the fetus, loses regulatory function during the development of the neuroendocrine mechanisms of the stress reaction.  相似文献

We investigated effects of the mucolytics ambroxol and N-acetylcysteine on airways reactivity evoked by histamine in guinea pigs exposed to toluene vapors. We did not find significant changes in reactivity of tracheal smooth muscle from animals treated with mucolytics compared to the control group. However, the administration of ambroxol and N-acetylcysteine caused a significant decrease in lung tissue reactivity. The effect of ambroxol was more pronounced after intraperitoneal injection than after inhalation, while N-acetylcysteine was only effective after inhalation. The protective effects of mucolytics in the lung tissue may be due to their antioxidant activity together with other mechanisms.  相似文献

The aims of this study were to investigate the effects of maternal stress during pregnancy on the emotional reactivity, the hypothalamo-pituitary-adrenocortical (HPA) axis, and the sympatho-adrenomedullary (SAM) system of goat offspring according to their gender, and to investigate the role of maternal cortisol in prenatal stress effects. Goats were exposed to ten transports in isolation or ten ACTH injections (0.125 IU/kg body weight) during the last third of pregnancy. Control goats remained undisturbed. No effect of repeated transport during the last third of pregnancy was found on basal cortisol concentrations of the offspring. However, an increase in phenylethanolamine N-methyl transferase activity in the adrenals was observed in prenatally stressed kids compared to control kids (P = 0.031). In the presence of novelty, prenatally stressed female kids were more active (P = 0.049) than control females; they also showed more signs of arousal (P = 0.039) and tended to explore more of their environment (P = 0.053) in reaction to a startling stimulus. On the contrary, prenatally stressed male kids tended to be less active (P = 0.051) than control male kids but showed more signs of distress (P = 0.047) in the presence of novelty. Intermediate effects were found on the emotional reactivity to novelty of kids born from dams given injections of ACTH. In conclusion, transport stress in pregnant goats affects the sympatho-adrenomedullary system and the emotional reactivity of their offspring in a gender-specific manner. Moreover, the effects of prenatal transport and ACTH injections showed some similarities but differed in some critical details.  相似文献

Influence of the alteration of corticosteroid equilibrium during prenatal development on the reactivity of the pituitary-adrenal system in adulthood was studied in August, Wistar rats and their F1 hybrids. The alteration of corticosteroid balance was caused by injections of hydrocortizone to female rats on the 16th and 18th day of gestation. Adult male-offsprings were investigated. The prenatal hydrocortizone treatment was capable of modifying the inherited peculiarities of the stress system. Interstrain differences in sensitivity to hormone were observed. Hormonal treatment decreased reactions of the endocrine system to an emotional stresser or intracerebral noradrenaline administration in Wistar rats, but not in August ones. Reciprocal hybrids were affected by the hormone, like Wistar rats. At the same time, treatment with hydrocortizone did not change the reactions of the pituitary-adrenal system of the rats of both strains under the conditions of "systemic" stress or intracerebral serotonin administration. Probably, hydrocortizone affected specific mechanisms of emotional reaction, connected with noradrenergic system of brain. Thus, the ability of prenatal hydrocortizone treatment to modify the reactivity of the pituitary-adrenal system in adult rats depends on the animal genotype. The study was aimed at examining the effect of a short Heart Rate-Biofeedback (HR-BF) protocol on systolic (SBP) and diastolic (DBP) blood pressure levels and BP emotional reactivity. Twenty-four unmedicated outpatients with pre- and stage 1 hypertension, were randomly assigned to active treatment (BF-Training) or control (BP-Monitoring) group. Subjects in BF-Training Group underwent four BF sessions. Guided imagery of stressful events was introduced during sessions 3 and 4. Control participants self-monitored their BP at home for 4?weeks. Subjects in both groups performed an emotional Speech Test before and after the training (or monitoring) period. SBP and mean arterial pressure responses to the emotional Speech Test were significantly smaller after the BF-training than the BP-monitoring. Moreover, clinic SBP and DBP were significantly reduced by about 10?mmHg in BF-Training Group, whereas they remained unchanged in control group. Self-monitored BP decreased significantly in the active treatment group and not in control group. A short BF-training, including guided imagery of stressful events, was effective in reducing BP reactions to a psychosocial stressor. BP measured in the clinic, and self-monitored at home were also significantly reduced in the BF-Training Group. HR-BF appears to be a suitable intervention for hypertensive patients, mostly when BP increase is associated with emotional activation.  相似文献

The multidrug transporter P-glycoprotein (Pgp) is an ATPase efflux pump for multiple cytotoxic agents, including vinblastine and colchicine. We have found that resistance to vinblastine but not to colchicine in cell lines derived from different types of tissues and expressing the wild-type human Pgp correlates with the Pgp density. Vinblastine induces a conformational change in Pgp, evidenced by increased reactivity with a conformation-sensitive monoclonal antibody UIC2, in all the tested cell lines. In contrast, colchicine increases the UIC2 reactivity in only some of the cell lines. In those lines where colchicine alone did not affect UIC2 reactivity, this drug was, however, able to reverse the vinblastine-induced increase in UIC2 reactivity. The magnitude of the increase in UIC2 reactivity in the presence of saturating concentrations of colchicine correlates with the relative ability of Pgp to confer colchicine resistance in different cell lines, suggesting the existence of some cell-specific factors that have a coordinate effect on the ability of colchicine to induce conformational transitions and to be transported by Pgp. Colchicine, like vinblastine, reverses the decrease in UIC2 reactivity produced by nonhydrolyzable nucleotides, but unlike vinblastine, it does not reverse the effect of ATP at a high concentration. Colchicine, however, decreases the Hill number for the effect of ATP on the UIC2 reactivity from 2 to 1. Colchicine increases the UIC2 reactivity and reverses the effect of ATP in ATPase-deficient Pgp mutants, but not in the wild-type Pgp expressed in the same cellular background, suggesting that ATP hydrolysis counteracts the effects of colchicine on the Pgp conformation.  相似文献
