Summary A new genus, Cervicaprastrongylus, is proposed for Ostertagia (Grosspiculagia) skrjabini Singh & Pande, 1963, previously renamed Ostertagia (Grosspiculagia) malviyai by Chaturvedi & Kansal in 1977. The new genus is distinguished from Hyostrongylus by the structure of the spicules, the branching of the dorsal ray, the structure of the genital cone and the arrangement of the rays of the lateral lobe of the bursa. Other species transferred to the new genus in new combinations are Hyostrongylus gabonensis Durette-Desset & Chabaud, 1974 and H. moreli Durette-Desset & Denke, 1978. The genera Bergheia, Hyostrongylus and Parostertagia are discussed and the present position of the four separate species named Ostertagia skrjabini is reviewed.  相似文献

H. okapiae van den Berghe, 1937 (in part) is considered a synonym of H. mitchelli Le Roux, 1929 and H. bubalis Chauhan & Pande, 1968 is considered a synonym of H. similis Travassos, 1914. H. bovis Bonelli, 1941 and H. contortus var. kashmirensis Fotedar & Bambroo, 1965 are considered species inquirendae. Hexacanalis Perrenoud, 1931 was erected for H. abruptus (Southwell, 1911) Perrenoud, 1931 based on the presence of six excretory vessels, a unique feature among the Lecanicephalidea. The genus has since been considered a junior synonym of Cephalobothrium Shipley & Hornell, 1906 or Lecanicephalum Linton, 1890, or as a genus inquirendum. Based on examination of the syntype series of H. abruptus, this species is redescribed and a lectotype designated. Examination of cestodes from the zonetail butterfly ray Gymnura zonura (Bleeker) from off Indonesian Borneo resulted in the discovery of a second species. Hexacanalis folifer n. sp. is unique among lecanicephalideans in its possession of an ovary that is U-shaped in cross-section and craspedote proglottids with prominent posterior dorso-ventral processes in the form of large lappets. The presence of six excretory vessels, confirmed in both species, supports the validity of Hexacanalis. An additional species, H. pteroplateae (Zaidi & Khan, 1976) n. comb., also from a butterfly ray, G. micrura (Bloch & Schneider) [as Pteroplatea micrura (Bloch & Schneider)], is transferred to this genus from Cephalobothrium Shipley & Hornell, 1906. A revised diagnosis of Hexacanalis is presented. Seven species of this genus remain species inquirendae. Hexacanalis appears to parasitise species of the Gymnuridae van Hasselt; however, specific identifications of the hosts are in need of re-evaluation. A summary of the cestode parasites of the Gymnuridae is presented.  相似文献

Summary The genus Paramphistomum Fischoeder, 1901 is redefined and restricted and only the following species are retained and considered valid: P. cervi (Zeder, 1790) (type species); P. liorchis Fischoeder, 1901; P. gracile Fischoeder, 1901 P. epiclitum Fischoeder, 1904; P. gotoi Fukui, 1922, P. ichikawai Fukui, 1922; P. leydeni Näsmark, 1937 and P. hiberniae Willmott, 1950. These are redescribed and illustrated. A new species, Paramphistomum cephalophi is described and illustrated from the black-fronted duiker (Cephalophus nigrifrons) in Rwanda. It differs from the rest of the species in the genus by the presence of an anterior sphincter in the pharynx and the characteristic posterior notch of the acetabular rim. Scanning electron photomicrographs of the tegumental surfaces of the species in the genus are provided. Paramphistomum indicum Stiles & Goldberger, 1910 (in part) and P. bombayiensis Gupta & Verma in Gupta & Nakhasi, 1977 are regarded as synonyms of Paramphistomum gracile Fischoeder, 1901. P. scotiae Willmott, 1950, P. julimarinorum Velázquez-Maldonado, 1976, P. nicabrasilorum Velázquez- Maldonado, 1976, P. procapri Wang, 1979 and Cotylophoron skrjabini Mitskevich, 1958 are considered synonyms of Paramphistomum leydeni Näsmark, 1937. Cotylophoron vigisi Davydova, 1963 is considered synonymous with Paramphistomum ichikawai Fukui, 1922. The genus Genarchella Travassos, Artigas & Pereira, 1928 is reinstated for some species from South American fishes previously attributed to Halipegus Looss, 1899. Aspects of the morphology of G. genarchella Travassos, Artigas & Pereira, 1928 and G. parva Travassos, Artigas & Pereira, 1928 are redescribed. Astyanax bimaculatus, Moenkhausia doceana, Oligosarcus robustus and Salminus maxillosus are recorded as new hosts of G. parva, and H. cryptorchis Mané-Garzon & Gascón, 1973 and H. szidati Yamaguti, 1971 [= G. tropica of Szidat (1954)] are listed amongst new synonyms of this species. Aspects of the morphology of Thometrema magnifica (Szidat, 1954) and T. overstreeti (Brooks, Mayes & Thorson, 1979) are redescribed. T. rioplatense Lunaschi, 1989 is considered a synonym of T. overstreeti. New host-records of T. overstreeti are Pimelodus maculatus and Rhamdia sp. G. genarchella of Hamann (1986) is considered as synonym of T. overstreeti. Paravitellotrema Watson, 1976, Caballeroiella Lamothe-Argumedo, 1977 and Quadripaludus Jimenez, Guajardo & Briseno, 1981 are considered synonyms of Genarchella. Summary The oriental species of the genera Olabidocarpus Lawrence, 1948, Dentocarpus Dusbabek & Cruz, 1966, Labidocarpellus Fain, 1976 and Pteropiella Fain, 1970 are revised. The species are redescribed and depicted except for a few which have been fully described recently. The total number of species known from these genera in this region is now 17. Labidocarpellus papuanus Fain, 1975 is replaced in the genus Pteropiella. The subgenus Dentocarpus (Paradentocarpus) Fain, 1976 is placed in synonymy with Labidocarpellus and the three species described in this subgenus (D. (P.) abyssinicus Fain, 1976, D. (P.) phyllodermae Fain, 1976, and D. (P.) kimberleyensis Fain & Lukoschus, 1981) are transferred to Labidocarpellus. Labidocarpellus notopteris Fain, 1976 and L. novaeguineae Fain, 1976 are now transferred to Dentocarpus. Several heteracanthocephalid specimens were recovered from the flatfish Rhombosolea leporina (Günther), a host of Heteracanthocephalus peltorhamphi (Baylis, 1944) Petrochenko, 1956 from New Zealand. Unlike H. peltorhamphi, these new specimens have trunk spines. Measurements and proboscis armament of the new specimens are consistent with the worms being Aspersentis minor Edmonds & Smales, 1992 originally described from the Australian flounder Rhombosolea tapirina Günther. A review of the family Heteracanthocephalidae Petrochenko, 1956 was undertaken to assess the validity of its four genera and eight species. The validity of Aspersentis megarhynchus (Linstow, 1892) Golvan, 1960 (syn. Echinorhynchus megarhynchus Linstow, 1892) is questioned. E. megarhynchus is not considered to be an heteracanthocephalid and is relegated to a species inquirenda. A. megarhynchus (Linstow, 1892) of Golvan (1960) nec E. megarhynchus Linstow, 1892 is considered a synonym of A. austrinus Van Cleave, 1929. The monotypic genus Heteracanthocephalus Petrochenko, 1956 is proposed as a synonym of Aspersentis Van Cleave, 1929 because there appear to be insufficient morphological differences between them. Aspersentis peltorhamphi n. comb. is proposed for Heteracanthocephalus peltorhamphi. The monotypic genus Sachalinorhynchus Krotov & Petrochenko in Petrochenko, 1956 is considered valid, but the other heteracanthocephalid genus, Bullockrhynchus Chandra, Rao & Shyamasundari, 1985, also monotypic, is not. B. indicus Chandra, Rao & Shyamasundari, 1985 possesses more features resembling rhadinorhynchids than heteracanthocephalids but only females are known, and therefore the genus and species cannot be placed. There are currently four valid species of Aspersentis and one of Sachalinorhynchus.  相似文献

Summary The form of the head disc and its taxonomic significance in the genus Discocriconemella De Grisse & Loof, 1965 is discussed. A new genus, Acrozostron, is proposed for the former macramphidia group of Discocriconemella species distinguished primarily by the distinctive cephalic region. The following new combinations are made: A. caudaventer, A. hensungicum, A. macramphidia, A. pannosum and A. retroversum. Discocriconemella sensu stricto is rediagnosed D. sphaerocephaloides is transferred to Macroposthonia. Abstract

The cercariae and sporocysts (or rediae) of four trematode species are described from the intertidal snail Zeacumantus subcarinatus: a distome xiphidiocercaria assigned to the genus Renicola (family Renicolidae); a monostome xiphidiocercaria belonging either to the genus Microphallus or Megalophallus (family Microphallidae); a magnacercous cercaria of the genus Galactosomum (family Hetero‐phyidae); and a cercaria of the genus Philophthalmus (family Philophthalmidae). The morphological features of these cercariae are compared to previously described cercariae of the same genera. In addition, since the philophthalmid cercaria encysts readily on artificial substrates in the laboratory, the metacercaria of this species is also described. These cercariae are part of a diverse community of at least six digenean species parasitising the snail Z. subcarinatus that, together, have a major impact on the ecology and evolution of this snail.  相似文献

The red algal genus Hypnea (Gigartinales) has a wide geographical distribution along tropical and subtropical coasts around the world. The relatively simple and plastic morphology, often influenced by the conditions of its habitat, complicates the identification of Hypnea species. Therefore, the number and status of some species remain in doubt. Molecular studies have been performed to supplement traditional studies based on morphology, mainly for Hypnea species occurring in Asia. In the present study, sequence data from the DNA barcode COI-5P for 114 samples from the southeastern coast of Brazil, indicated the occurrence of six taxa. Additionally, sequence data from the UPA and rbcL markers for representatives of each of those taxa confirmed the existence of six different species. After morphological analysis and comparison with sequences available in GenBank, these species were named as follows: H. aspera, H. cervicornis, H. cf. musciformis, H. spinella, and two new species, H. flava Nauer, Cassano & M.C. Oliveira and H. edeniana Nauer, Cassano & M.C. Oliveira. Hypnea cervicornis, often considered as a later synonym of H. spinella, should be considered as a distinct species based on morphology and divergence of the three molecular markers used. Hypnea aspera is a new record for the Atlantic Ocean.  相似文献

The life-cycle of Ascocotyle (Phagicola) diminuta (Stunkard & Haviland, 1924) was reproduced experimentally, starting from cercariae from naturally infected Littoridina castellanosae and L. parchappei (Hydrobiidae) collected from artificial ponds in the Zoological Garden in Buenos Aires and from Los Ranchos stream, Buenos Aires Province, respectively. Metacercariae were found encysted in the gills of experimentally exposed Cnesterodon decemmaculatus (Poecilidae) and of other naturally infected freshwater fishes. Adults were obtained experimentally in chicks and mice and from a naturally infected egret, Egretta thula. A. (P.) angrense Travassos, 1916 was found parasitising the egret Ixobrychus involucris; it is considered a valid species and the morphological differences between it and A. (P.) diminuta were established. The “Phagicola-form” of the cercaria in the present life-cycle is also known in the genus Pygidiopsis.  相似文献

(Cauliorchis) skrjabini Popova, 1937, P. erschovi Davydova, 1959, Calicophoron orientalis Mukherjee, 1966, C. wuchengense Wang, 1979 and Cotylophoron skrjabini Mitskevich, 1958 in part are considered synonyms of Calicophoron calicophorum (Fischoeder, 1901) N?smark, 1937. C. zhejiangense Wang, 1979 is regarded a synonym of C. papillosum (Stiles & Goldberger, 1910) N?smark, 1937. P. vangrembergeni Van Strydonck, 1970 and P. togolense Albaret, Bayssade-Dufour, Guilhon, Kulo & Picot, 1978 are considered synonyms of Calicophoron phillerouxi (Dinnik, 1961) n. comb. and Ceylonocotyle petrovi Davydova, 1961 is synonymized with Calicophoron microbothrioides (Price & McIntosh, 1944) n. comb. The species considered valid under the genus are redescribed and illustrated and scanning electron photomicrographs of the tegumental surfaces of some species are provided. Magnacercous cercariae, all morphologically identical but with different coloured tails, were found naturally infecting the intertidal prosobranch gastropod Clypeomorus batillariaeformis Habe & Kosuge (Cerithiidae) at Heron and Masthead Islands. Several species of coral-dwelling fishes were exposed to magnacercous cercariae. Active ingestion by the fish, followed by the complete development of the metacercaria in the optic lobes, occurred in Pomacentrus molluccensis Bleeker, but not in Dascyllus aruanus (L.), where development stopped short after encystment. All cercariae turned out to belong to the same species, Galactosomum bearupi Pearson, 1973. Natural infections of G. bearupi metacercariae were found in eight species of fish at Heron Island: Pomacentrus molluccensis, P. wardi Whitley, P. bankanensis Bleeker, P. flavicauda Whitley, Stegastes cf. fasciolatus (Ogilby), Sillago maculata Quoy & Gaimard, S. cf. ciliata Cuvier and Crenimugil crenilabris (Forsskål). Summary The ultrastructure of three species of microsporidia in winter moths, Operophtera brumata (L.), has been used to consolidate taxonomic assessments previously based on light microscopy. The characters formerly used to assign Nosema operophterae Canning, 1960 to a new genus Orthosoma Canning, Wigley & Barker, 1983, namely that the nuclei are isolated and that sporoblasts are separated from ribbon-shaped multinucleate (2, 4, 8 or rarely 12 nuclei) sporonts, were upheld at the ultrastructural level. Development was in contact with the cell cytoplasm but all stages, which must have included meronts, had an electron dense surface coat. Nosema wistmansi Canning, Wigley & Barker, 1983, was found to be ultrastructurally typical of the genus Nosema Naegeli, 1857. An unusual feature of this species was the close association of cysternae of host endoplasmic reticulum with the surface of meronts, an association lost in sporogony. Pleistophora operophterae (Canning, 1960) has been transferred, on ultrastructural criteria, to a new genus Cystosporogenes n.g. Nuclei are isolated; all stages develop in a vesicle bounded by an envelope of enigmatic origin; this envelope persists around the spores as a sporophorous vesicle; division of the sporont within this vesicle is by budding and the number of sporoblasts, and therefore spores, is variable up to about 60.Microsporidia which undergo multisporous sporogony in sporophorous vesicles are now distributed among seven genera. These are: Glugea Thélohan, 1891; Pleistophora Gurley, 1893; Pseudopleistophora Sprague, 1977; Vavraia Weiser, 1977; Baculea Loubès & Akbarieh, 1978; Polydispyrenia Canning & Hazard, 1982 and Cystosporogenes n.g. Mice of the genus Peromyscus all have 48 chromosomes. Yet the appearance of the 48 chromosomes is highly variable from species to species (Hsu & Arrighi, 1966, 1968, 1971; Pathak et al., 1973) and even in different populations of the same species (Sparkes & Arakaki, 1966; Ohno et al., 1966; Hsu & Arrighi, 1968; Arakaki et al. 1970; Te & Dawson, 1971; Bradshaw & Hsu, 1972; Murray & Kitchin, 1976). The evolutionary significance of this variation and the mechanisms for its initiation and maintenance have been of interest for quite a few years. However, it was not until the sophisticated chromosome banding techniques became available that mammalian cytogeneticists were able to begin to study the chromosome variation of Peromyscus in some detail. The use of C-banding led Hsu & Arrighi (1971) to the finding that the short arms of chromosomes in three different species of Peromyscus contained constitutive heterochromatin. These results suggested that the variations in the number of acrocentric chromosomes in Peromyscus might be a result of different amounts of heterochromatin. Later studies (Duffey, 1972; Waterbury, 1972; and Pathak et al., 1973) were also consistent with this hypothesis.However, it was soon discovered that not all chromosomal differences among Peromyscus populations are due to heterochromatin changes. Studies by Arighi et al. (1976) and Murray & Kitchin (1976) showed that some chromosomal differences between species and subspecies of Peromyscus are due to pericentric inversions. Thus, it appears that both inversions and the addition of heterochromatin are involved in the evolution of the karyotype of Peromyscus.The purpose of our study was to investigate the chromosomes of Peromyscus maniculatus in different populations in Colorado (U.S.A.) and to test for relationships involving an altitudinal gradient. In the first part of this study, orcein stained chromosomes from three subspecies of mice sampled at nine different altitudes were examined for karyotype variability. In the second part of the study, karyotypes of two subspecies (P. m. rufinus and P. m. luteus), representing high and low altitude populations were examined with Q banding to determine the mechanisms responsible for chromosomal differences.  相似文献

A catalogue and a key to the non-lichenized, bulbilliferous basidiomycetes are given. The new genus Burgella is described for the lichenicolous B. flavoparmeliae, phylogenetically close to Sistotrema oblongisporum and Multiclavula. The genera Pneumatospora and Tricellulortus are placed in synonymy of Minimedusa, the new combination M. obcoronata is proposed, and the new facultative lichenicolous M. pubescens is described. The new facultative lichenicolous Burgoa angulosa is phylogenetically close to the generic type B. verzuoliana, whilst the new B. moriformis and B. splendens are provisionally included in the genus Burgoa. A Burgoa-like species in the Ceratobasidiaceae is left unnamed. Two new species of Marchandiomyces, M. buckii and M. nothofagicola, are described. As Marchandiomyces aurantiacus is phylogenetically more close to Erythricium than to Marchandiomyces, it is proposed to exclude it from that genus and to use the holomorphic generic name Marchandiobasidium for both anamorph and teleomorph of this species. The new genus Marchandiomphalina is introduced for the lichenized Omphalina foliacea, a taxon phylogenetically close to Marchandiobasidium.
