The response of four benthic cyclopoid copepods,Acanthocyclops viridis (Megacyclops viridis) (Jurine, 1820),Macrocyclops albidus (Jurine),Eucyclops agilis (Koch, Sars) (Eucyclops serrulatus) (Fischer, 1851) andParacyclops fimbriatus (Fischer), to hypoxia and anoxia was investigated. All of these species died within six hours when confronted by totally anoxic conditions, but all survived four days at oxygen saturation levels as low as 25%. Males succumbed to the effects of anoxia more rapidly than the larger females of each species, and larger species survived for shorter periods than smaller species. In artificially stratified columns, where the lower layer was anoxic, all four species displayed an upward migratory response towards oxygenated conditions. Where the artificial hypolimnion was hypoxic, however, the migratory response was not observed. The results suggest that some benthic copepods cope with seasonal anoxia in eutrophic stratified lakes by migration rather than the various physiological adaptations shown by planktonic and semi-planktonic species.  相似文献

Phytoplankton dynamics in Lake Müggelsee, a eutrophic and polymictic lake in Berlin, and in the inflowing lowland River Spree have been comprehensively investigated during the last two decades. Zooplankton dynamics, nutrient supply, light climate, duration of ice cover and of summer stratification have also been regularly measured to help to explain phytoplankton development. The first period (1978–1990) was characterised by high nutrient loads and dominance of cyanobacteria from spring to autumn. Since then, loads of phosphorus and nitrogen have been lowered by 40–50%. Oscillatoria-like cyanobacteria (Limnothrix redekei, Planktothrix agardhii) were favoured under hypertrophic conditions in both the polymictic lake and the river, but they have disappeared nearly completely after nutrient reduction. Development of these species depended on meteorological conditions and nutrient supply in spring rather than on seasonal averages of nutrient concentrations. Diatoms have became dominant and chlorophytes have increased their share of the biomass since the nutrient load was reduced. Species com- position changed even within the algal groups. Retention time of water and duration of thermal stratification of the water column modified phytoplankton structure. Mobile algae like Microcystisor Ceratium occurred in the lake during stratification periods. Otherwise, species composition in the shallow, polymictic lake was very similar to that in the inflowing lowland river. Species with high starting biomass, fed by high riverine import, resting stages or perennation were selected in this flushed system.  相似文献

Summary The seasonal distribution of Cladocera and Copepoda in the Holon Rainpool near Tel-Aviv, Israel, was studied. Plankton was also collected from 16 other rainpools along the coastal plain of Israel and compared with the plankton of the Holon Pool. Environmental factors, such as water depth, temperature, dissolved oxygen, pH and alkalinity were recorded weekly at the Holon Pool. The interaction of temperature and water depth is discussed; a temporary thermal stratification occurs in this shallow rainpool.Daily as well as seasonal fluctuations in temperature, pH, dissolved oxygen and alkalinity are described and discussed.A positive correlation was found between total alkalinity and the density of Diaptomus wierzejskii. The succession of species during two seasons is described, and appears to be fairly constant.New localities for Alona elegans, Hemidiaptomus gurneyi and Acanthocyclops bicuspidatus are recorded.Supported partly by a grant of Mif'al Ha-Payis, Israel.  相似文献

Spatial overlap between Acanthocyclops robustus, with special emphasis on the adult females, and other zooplankton in one basin of a shallow (approximate depth of 2 m) eutrophic lake was studied.Horizontal distribution patterns were analysed on two dates. On both dates, most taxa examined showed large-scale patchiness between the three sections of the lake basin (approximate length of 1.2 km). Similarly, most taxa, with the important exception of the adult female Acanthocyclops robustus, were significantly patchily distributed on the small-scale (i.e. within sections). However, the intensity of such patchiness was, in general, relatively low. There was no consistent evidence of aggregation by the adult females or copepodites and adult males (the latter two were considered together) of the predator in such small-scale prey patches.Diurnal vertical distribution patterns were studied on two 24–25 hour periods. The first period was characterized by calm weather. Adult female, and perhaps male, Acanthocyclops robustus, Chydorus sphaericus, Bosmina Coregoni, Keratella cochlearis, Asplanchna species, Polyarthra vulgaris and Pompholyx sulcata seemed to show diurnal migration patterns, while seven other taxa showed consistent preferences for particular depths. Only copepod nauplii and Daphnia species were approximately evenly distributed. Negative correlations were found between the vertical distributions of the adult female predator and seven of the seventeen potential prey recognized. The first half of the second period was characterised by strong winds which abated during the second half. Most zooplankton taxa showed inconsistent heterogeneous vertical distributions or were homogeneously distributed with vertical heterogeneity developing towards the end of the period. Only Bosmina longirostris and Daphnia species seemed to show vertical migration patterns. Thus, no consistent vertical segregation between predator and prey was detected.  相似文献

The coexistence of two common species of predatory cyclopoid copepods, Acanthocyclops robustus and Mesocyclops leuckarti, in a small, eutrophic lake was studied. Both species are of similar size, inhabit the same water layers and have similar seasonal occurrence. A. robustus shows faster embryonic and postembryonic development and produces bigger clutches. Ingestion rates of A. robustus are higher than in M. leuckarti, especially with large prey types and low temperatures. Females of A. robustus are heavily preyed upon by fish. This predation pressure leads to extremely skewed sex ratios, which are unfavourable to population growth. A. robustus is therefore, on balance, favoured in productive lakes. Dominance over M. leuckarti is, however, less clear in warmer years.  相似文献

Variations of species composition and population size of planktonic algae were studied in relation to the different nutrient levels in a eutrophic pond and an oligotrophic lake. The results obtained were discussed in comparison with the changes in photosynthesis and chlorophyll of several algal populations cultured under different nutrient conditions. As based on unialgal culture experiments two types of algae (the Chlorella-type and the Melosira-type) could be distinguished with regard to variations of photosynthesis and chlorophyll in response to different nutrient levels. Distribution of the Chlorella-type algae may be confined to eutrophic waters, while the Melosira-type algae can be distributed widely in waters from oligotrophic to eutrophic.  相似文献

We exposed natural zooplankton communities to in situ levelsof sunlight for 3 days at different depths in two north temperatelakes: one oligotrophic and one eutrophic. Natural fluxes ofUV-B radiation (280–320 nm) were manipulated with cutofffilters (Mylar®). There was substantial mortality in someof the zooplankton exposed to UV-B in the oligotrophic lake, but not in the eutrophic lake. Reproduction of Diaptomus wassuppressed by UV-B down to 6 m in the oligotrophic lake. Thesedata suggest that natural levels of UV-B radiation in the oligotrophiclake may prevent some species of zooplankton from continuouslyexploiting the warm surface waters during summer stratification. In the more eutrophic lake, UV-B is a less important constraintin the vertical distribution of zooplankton. These differencesin the responses of zooplankton to natural UV-B radiation inlakes may alter their ecological interactions with food resources, predators and other environmental variables in the water column. 1Present address: Universidad Nacional del Comahue, Centro RegionalUniversitario Bariloche, CC 1336, (8400) Bariloche, Argentina 2Present address: National Academy of Engineering, 2101 ConstitutionAvenue, NW, Washington, DC 20418, USA  相似文献

Observations indicating gliding motility in the gas-vacuolate, filamentous organism Peloploca were made using microcapillary tubes. Tubes containing semi-solid agar, incubated in sediment cores gave good enrichments of Peloploca spp. The organisms, which had the form of helical bundles of filaments, were seen to corkscrew through the agar at up to 2–3 m s-1.The vertical distribution of Peloploca spp. in the sediment and water column of a eutrophic lake was examined periodically during summer stratification. The organisms were confined to anoxic conditions in the sediment prior to stratification. With increasing anoxia in the hypolimnion, the population shifted upwards in the sediment, and towards the end of stratification, in the most reducing conditions, appeared in the lower hypolimnion. Anaerobically incubated sediment cores also showed the movement of the Peloploca population from sediment into the overlying water. It is suggested that the gliding motility and helical morphology of Peloploca bundles enable them to migrate through sediment in response to oxygen and Eh gradients, in addition to their use of gas vacuoles to adjust their position in the water column. The taxonomic implications of gliding motility in Peloploca spp. are discussed.  相似文献

We analyzed photosynthetic pigments of algae and bacteria (phototrophic sulfur bacteria: Chromatium and brown Chlorobium) in sediment cores and water samples obtained from five basins of Lake Hamana, a brackish, eutrophic, holomictic lake in Japan, and discussed our findings in relation to the distribution of the phototrophs. The four outer basins are connected to the central basin by narrow inlets. The prevalence of anoxia in Lake Hamana was demonstrated by the widespread presence of bacterial pigments in each core. The construction of training walls in 1954–1956 to direct tidal currents into the lake via Imagire-guchi Channel, the sole inlet for seawater, increased the lake water circulation, suppressed the development of anoxia, and caused Chromatium to disappear. Strong correlations (r 2 0.7) between total algal carotenoid (TAC) and total bacterial carotenoid (TBC) contents in each core were found in four basins. We ascribe this to the induction of anoxia by water stratification and algal proliferation, which precede the growth of phototrophic sulfur bacteria in the deeper layers of the water column. The slopes of the TBC–TAC correlations in the sediment cores, indicating the extent and stability of anoxia at each site, differed among basins (0.23–0.67) and were inversely related to the exchange rate of water by seawater intrusion in each basin.  相似文献

The hypolimnetic protozoan plankton of a eutrophic lake   总被引:2,自引:1,他引:1
The seasonal distribution of benthic species in the water column above and below the thermocline in a small eutrophic lake is described. During summer stratification populations of Spirostomum spp, Loxodes spp., Plagiopyla and Deltopylum become established in the plankton on or below the oxycline/thermocline. At shallow sites no migration occurred and populations of the migratory species in the benthos were sparse, with the exception of Plagiopyla which occurred in high densities in the sediment. Two distinct planktonic populations are established during stratification: an epilimnetic community of obligate planktonic ciliates and a hypolimnetic community of benthic migrants.  相似文献

Lake Rogoznica, near ibenik, Croatia, is a salt coastal lakewith a maximum depth of about 15 m. During most of the year, this small, naturally eutrophied lake is highly stratified, with hypoxia/anoxia occurring in the bottom layer. Total anoxia, with the presence of hydrogen sulphide, was recorded on September27, 1997. At that moment, massive mortality of all planktonicand benthic organisms was observed. After the anoxia, Acartiaitalica, the only planktonic copepod species of the lake, re-establishedquickly. Before anoxia, the population dynamics of the A.italicapopulation depended primarily on predator/prey relationships. However, in the post-anoxic period, nutrient–phytoplankton–copepodrelationships became more important, as there was no longerany predation pressure. From all accounts, it would appear thatonly A.italica is adapted to the extreme conditions which appearfrom time to time in the lake, and that this species has animportant role in the functioning of the lake ecosystem. Acartiaitalica was very important for the gradual normalization oflife in the lake after total anoxia.  相似文献

The polymictic properties of Lake Müggelsee, a eutrophic shallow lake in Berlin, are described by the water column stability (N 2) and gradients in saturation of oxygen at the deepest site of the lake (7.5 m). Mixing and stratification changed irregularly up to 7 times during the vegetation season (April to September), as was indicated by all of the stratification parameters. Thermally stable conditions generally lasted 1–2 weeks. A maximum of 5 weeks stratification was observed in 1982.In order to investigate the response of algal development, the internal rates of change of the dominant algal species in the lake during the vegetation period were estimated from weekly measurements of phytoplankton biomass from 1980 to 1990. The necessity taking a mixed sample in a shallow lake is discussed. The polymictic properties favoured the development of specific blue-green algal species; there dominance was also favoured by the trophic conditions. Among the dominant blue-greens the growth of Limnothrix redekei was independent of polymixis whereas stratification supported the starting conditions for the summer blue-greens Aphanizomenon flos-aquae and Planktothrix agardhii. After these algae reached a distinct level of biomass, they grew under mixing as well as under stratified conditions. For the development of solitary centric diatoms during summer regulation by growth restriction through nutrient limitation, esp. dissolved silicon was more important. However, Melosira sp. developed well under stratified conditions but collapsed due to increased sinking losses when the water column became too stable. An attempt is made to apply Reynolds' possibility matrix of the most likely phytoplankton assemblages as a function of nutrients and mixing in the shallow Lake Müggelsee.  相似文献

The distribution of calanoid copepods in the plankton of Wisconsin Lakes   总被引:3,自引:0,他引:3

Zooplankton communities from 499 lakes were examined for calanoid copepod species. Limnocalanus macrurus and Senecella calaloides are confined to Lakes Michigan, Superior and one inland lake each. Eurytemora affinis has recently become established in the coastal waters of Lakes Michigan and Superior. Epischura lacustris is present in the summer plankton of a wide variety of lake types. Aglaodiaptomus leptopus is sensitive to fish predation and confined to small lakes without fish. Leptodiaptomus ashlandi is restricted to Lakes Michigan and Superior, but L. sicilis is also found in some inland lakes. Leptodiaptomus minutus is a boreal species found mostly in lakes of the far north. Skistodiaptomus oregonensis is the most commonly occurring calanoid and seems well adapted to lakes of the meso-to low eutrophic types. Skistodiaptomus pallidus is also generally distributed throughout the state, but less common than oregonensis and adapted to more eutrophic lakes. Leptodiaptomus siciloides and A. clavipes are western species, adapted to eutrophic lakes, which are expanding their ranges eastward, aided by cultural eutrophication.  相似文献

Distribution patterns of the larvae of Chironomidae are compared in three water systems in The Netherlands, which vary in trophic state and oxygen regimes. The life cycles and flying periods of some dominant chironomid species in two of the investigated lakes, Lakes Maarsseveen I and II, are determined by comparing data on the seasonal variations in larval densities with existing literature on Chironomidae in the Maarsseveen lakes. In the oligo-mesotrophic Lake Maarsseveen I (LM I), hypoxic or anoxic conditions in the hypolimnion are observed only at the end of the stratification period. A clear zonation of the chironomid fauna is present in this lake. The littoral zone is dominated byCladotanytarsus gr.mancus andStictochironomus sticticus, the littoriprofundal zone byTanytarsus bathophilus, and the profundal zone byChironomus anthracinus. In comparison with the other species in LM I,T. bathophilus larvae show the most variable distribution patterns over time. Larvae are found in all depths from July to September, but disappear from the hypolimnion as soon as oxygen conditions deteriorate. In the eutrophic Lake Maarsseveen II (LM II), oxygen depletion of the hypolimnion starts immediately after the onset of the thermal stratification in June, and continues until autumnal turnover in November. In this lake, the chironomid community consists primarily ofS. sticticus andCl. gr.mancus, and is confined to the narrow littoral zone. No chironomid larvae are found in the deeper parts of the lake. The eutrophic Lake Gijster in the Brabantse Biesbosch is a deep, man-made reservoir, that is artificially destratified during the summer. In this lakeTanytarsus bathophilus is found in the profundal sediments, whereas almost noChironomus is found in this zone. It is concluded that oxygen conditions existing in the deeper regions of the investigated lakes in large part determine the occurrence and distribution of chironomid species. The distribution ofT. bathophilus is limited by unfavorable oxygen conditions and not by the trophic state of the lake. These findings are part of a thesis (HEINIS, 1993).  相似文献

Diatom Succession and Interaction in Littoral Periphyton and Plankton   总被引:4,自引:4,他引:0
Periphyton and plankton samples were collected at four littoral stations in a relatively shallow, eutrophic lake (Elk Lake, B.C., Canada) over a six month period from August 1967 to January 1968. The most abundant planktonic diatoms demonstrated a pattern of seasonal succession typical of temperate lakes, and all were present in the periphyton. This pattern was identical at all stations:Fragilaria crotonensis was dominant from August to October,Asterionella formosa in November and December, andMelosira italica (plusM. varians) in January.F. virescens, although never dominant, peaked in October. Periphyton communities were dominated byAchnanthes minutissima, Cocconeis placentula, F. crolonensis andF. virescens. Considerable station variation in successional patterns occurred over different exposure periods; station differences were least in those samples immersed for monthly intervals, and greatest in those immersed for a cumulative four-month period. Interaction between the phytoplankton and periphyton was illustrated by the occurrence of species common to both habitats. A decrease in cell numbers and percent abundance of these species in planktonic populations coincided with their increase in the periphyton, a relationship which appeared dependent on the breakdown of thermal stratification in November. For example, following turnover,F. crotonensis andA. formosa settled out of the plankton and correspondingly increased in percent abundance in the periphyton. This interdependence was less evident in the four-month samples, whereA. minutissima andC. placentula dominated throughout the entire period and appeared to out-compete the more typical planktonic components for diminishing substrate area. Species interaction or competition was accentuated as exposure duration and periphyton total cell standing crops increased and species diversity decreased, and appeared to account in part, for station differences in successional patterns.  相似文献

Over a period of four years, the seasonal periodicity of dominant phytoplankton species in a shallow, eutrophic Danish lake changed markedly. Cyanophytes prevailed during the summer period of all four years. In the first three years, species of Microcystis, Anabaena and Aphanothece dominated, whereas in the fourth year of investigation, these algae were replaced by Gloeotrichia echinulata (J. E. Smith) Richter and Aphanizomenon flos-aquae (L.) Ralfs. The most striking environmental differences in the fourth year as compared with the previous three years, were an increase in tranparency, from about 0.5 meter in 1989–1991 to more than 2 metres preceding the summer maximum in 1992, and a simultaneous occurrence of low oxygen concentrations. A collapse of the fish population was followed by an increased proportion of large Cladocerans in the zooplankton. Improved light conditions at the bottom and grazing pressure from large Cladocerans favoured growth of the large colony forming blue-green algae, Gloeotrichia echinulata and Aphanizomenon flos-aquae. These species germinate from resting spores in the sediment and are able to sustain some growth there before migration to the lake water. The transfer of algal biomass from the bottom sediment to the water phase was accompanied by a marked increase in concentrations of particulate phosphorus and nitrogen in the entire lake.  相似文献

The problem of cryptic species in Diacyclops bicuspidatus was examined using interpopulation crosses of four populations collected from a: (1) permanent flood lake in Kiev, Ukraine, (2) temporary pool in Kiev, (3) permanent pond in St. Petersburg, Russia (1200 km to north from Kiev) and (4) lake in Crimea (1100 km south of Kiev). The only interpopulation crosses to exhibit fertility were those between the St. Petersburg population and each of the two Kiev populations. The crosses between the Kiev and Crimea populations, between the St. Petersburg and Crimea populations, and between the two Kiev populations were sterile, as evidenced by either nonviable eggs, empty egg membranes or incomplete copulations. The F1 hybrids resulting from the St. Petersburg permanent pond X Kiev flood lake cross were fertile and produced mature F2 offspring. Some data on development times of parental and hybrid lines are presented. The St. Petersburg parental line showed development times almost twice as long as those of the Kiev flood lake population when reared at 10 °C and 20 °C in the laboratory. The F1 offspring of the cross between St. Petersburg females and Kiev floodlake males showed similar development times to females of the St. Petersburg parental lines at both temperatures. The F2 hybrids also showed development times that approximated those of the St. Petersburg parental line. These crossbreeding studies suggest the presence of cryptic species in the D. bicuspidatus inhabiting ecologically different populations in many parts of its large holarctic range.  相似文献

Abstract

Researches about the cycle of the phytoplankton in the lake of Piediluco (Umbria). — The Authors studied the phytoplanktonic productivity within an year (1960–1961) in the lake of Piediluco (Central Italy); they have tried also to bring into evidence eventual changes in the phytocoenosis of the lake, basing themselves on some phytoplanktonic analysis made by Pasquini (1924) and by Marchesoni (1940) on samples collected before that Nera River was put in the lake for hydroelectric purpose.

The lake of Piediluco, which is a relict of the ancient Pleistocenic lake (Velino lake), is prevàilingly alluvial in origin and it is the second lake of Umbria in extension, after Trasimeno lake, having a surface of Kmq. 1,52. It is situated in the plain of Rieti at 368 m. level s. l. m. and it is 19 m. deep (Fig. 1).

In 1932 this lake was exploited to have hydroelectric energy and the « Società Elettrica Terni » built the Stoney dike along Velino River and digged also a canal connecting the lake with the river; another derivation canal, which puts Nera River into the lake of Piediluco, was also digged.

Every month, from October 1960 to October 1961 in the eulimnic zone of the lake were collected qualitative (surface and vertical) and quantitative samples (at 1, 3, 5, 10, 15 and 19 m.) and some environmental factors as: temperature, contents in oxygen, in organic matter, in N-NH4, in N-NO3 and in P-PO4 were studied.

After the putting of Nera River in the lake, the thermic regime changed: in summer there was a sinking and in winter a rise in temperature.

As we can see (Table I), the lake is of a tropical type and in winter it is in homothermal conditions; in summer there is a thermal stratification, which is of brief duration. The thermocline is evident only in June and July (Fig. 2).

The Table II, in which the quantities of oxygen dissolved in the water are reported, puts in evidence that the lake of Piediluco has an holomictic regime.

After the period of June, July and August, in which the oxygen contents of the deep waters is very low, there is in the late autumn the turnover which produces a complete mixing of superficial and deep waters (Fig. 3).

During the most part of the year phenomena of hypersaturation in O2 take place in the surface (Table III): the highest amounts are reached in May, June, July and August. The highest percentage in O2 is reached during the most part of the year in the surface waters (Fig. 4).

This high concentration is simply biologic in origin: it is due to the photosynthetic activity of phytoplankton which has numerically increased in this period.

Tables IV, V, VI and VII show the seasonal variations of the dissolved organic matter, of N-NH4, of N-NO3 and P-PO4; they show also that the nutritive substances (mainly N-NO3 and P-PO4 which affect the productivity of the lake of Piediluco, undergo an annual cycle: a phase of consumption on the part of the algal flora living in the surface during spring and summer; a phase of production at the bottom during the summer-autumnal stratification and a winter phase of redistribution of these bottom reserves to all the mass of water owing to the late-autumnal turnover.

The qualitative (Table VIII and Table IX) and quantitative (Table 10/A and 10/B) analysis show an absolute prevalence of Diatoms during all the period in which the planktonic hauls have been carried out.

On a quantitative point of view they have a very large majority with regard to the other classes: Diatoms by themselves reaches 98%.

The Algae which tipically characterize the lake of Piediluco are: Cyclotella kuetzingiana, C. melosiroides, Fragilaria crotonensis, Synedra ulna, S. danica, S. acus, Asterionella formosa; these are followed by: Peridinium inconspicuum, P. cinctum, Dinobryon divergens, Rhizochrysis limnetica, Gloeococcus schroeteri and Closterium aciculare.

The prevalence of Diatoms during all the year is due not to one species, but to three species which characterize our lake (Table XI): in January and February there is a facies with Asterionella formosa, in April a facies with Synedra ulna and with Asterionella formosa, Cyclotella kuetzingiana, Synedra danica and Fragilaria crotonensis; in May and June a facies with Cyclotella kuetzingiana with Cyclotella melosiroides and Synedra ulna, while in August we have again a facies with Synedra ulna, and with Synedra acus and Cyclotella kuetzingiana. September and October are characterized by Synedra ulna, even though in a smaller amount.

The analysis of two qualitative hauls of surface carried out in the zone with a vegetation mainly constituted by Arundo phragmites (Table XII) put in evidence that the littoral vegetation affects the phytoplanktonic composition because it is on a qualitative point of view more rich of algal species than the eulimnic zone.

Before that Nera River was put in the lake, the phytoplankton of this lake was characterized by Peridinium cinctum and Ceratium hirundinella; now these species reduced themselves very much.

The Authors, in order to explain this modification in the algological composition, attach importance to the changing of the thermic conditions and perhaps to the increased turbulence of waters caused by the putting in of Nera River (on an average 16–17 mc/sec.).

Valuing the degree of trophism of the lake of Piediluco with the Diatom quozient (Nygaard et al.) and the Compound index (Nygaard, 1949), the lake must be considered eutrophic, but if we consider some environmental factors and the presence of some Algae, we conclude that the lake has a character tending to eutrophy.  相似文献

River mouth areas of eutrophic lakes have frequent cyanobacterial blooms and high organophosphate mineralization rates. To determine the genetic background of the high organophosphate mineralization rate in river mouth areas of eutrophic lakes, we compared the diversity and abundance of bacterial alkaline phosphatase PhoX-encoding genes in the river mouth areas and the lake center within the large eutrophic Lake Taihu, China. Results showed that the seasonal average values of phosphorus content, bacterial alkaline phosphatase activity, diversity, and abundance of bacterial phoX in the river mouths were significantly higher than those in the lake center, and 47% of all identified genotypes were present only in the river mouths. The genotypes most similar to alphaproteobacterial phoX dominated in both regions, with 72% and 64% of the total genotypes in the lake center and river mouths, respectively. More than 40% of the total phoX genotypes were only found in the river mouths, however, indicating the special microbial nature in this hypereutrophic habitat. The differences in contents of dissolved organic carbon and phosphorus were related to the divergences of bacterial phoX genotypes in these two contrasting habitats. Because some dominant genotypes most similar to phoX genes of alphaproteobacterial genus were observed only in the river mouth areas, such as Microvirga sp. WSM3557, and because the hydraulic retention time of Lake Taihu is insufficient to shape the special bacterial groups in the river mouths, allochthonous inputs of nutrients and bacterial species could make contributions to explain the different organophosphate mineralization rates in these two contrasting habitats of the large eutrophic lake.  相似文献
