Certain macroglial differences of the spinal cord in poikilothermal (Rana esculenta, Lacerta agilis) and in homoiothermal (Columba livia, Felis domesticus, Macaca rhesus) animals have been revealed. A greater amount of glial satellites, surrounding neurons, motor centers of the spinal cord and appearance of new variety of astrocytes and oligodendrocytes are observed in the homoiothermal animals. It is supposed that the phenomenon mentioned indirectly reflects the evolutionary process of a more distinct functional differentiation of macroglia.  相似文献

Natural winter starvation has been studied for its effect on the content of ketone bodies, oxaloacetate, glucose, 3-oxybutyrate-dehydrogenase activity level in the carp fry tissue. A compensatory mechanism of the energy supply in peripheral tissues is found proceeding by formation of ketone bodies in the liver and their distribution in the tissues of white muscles and brain. For the latter the ketone bodies in wintering serve as an additional oxidation substrate.  相似文献

The intensity of [14C]leucine incorporation into heart, liver, brain, muscle, and blood plasma protein in gophers under deep artificial hypothermia has been studied. It was shown that the intensity of protein synthesis decreased sharply under these conditions. Insignificant incorporation of [14C]leucine into proteins was observed during the first two hours after the onset of hypothermia and then ceased completely.  相似文献

Intensity of synthesis of total proteins and spectrum of synthesized proteins has been studied in various organs and tissues of sharp-faced frogs during local profound cooling of one of its limbs. It was shown that the effect of low temperatures on a certain part of a body of a poikilothermic animal has induced both a response of the whole organism and a much more acute response of the cooled tissues. The organism responded by a fall of the whole body temperature and a decrease in the activity of synthesis of total proteins of the viscera. Local cooling of a part of the frog body has induced a more significant decrease in the protein synthesis intensity in the cooled tissues alteration in the spectrum of synthesized proteins and appearance of specific proteins.  相似文献

To evaluate the effect of laboratory passaging of influenza virus A/USSR/90/77 (H1N1) on the pattern of vRNA synthesis regulation in course of the one step infection cycle, we have used the viral variants adapted to growth in the continuous cell line MDCK or to the reproduction in the mice lungs in vivo. Enhancement of regulation was registered in the adapted variants as compared to the original virus strain. The results are discussed in connection with possible significance of the vRNA synthesis regulation for the efficiency of viral reproduction under natural conditions or in laboratory passaging.  相似文献

1. The incorporation of [14C]valine and [3H]threonine has been studied in mucosa of goldfish acclimatized to different temperatures. 2. [14C]Valine was incorporated more rapidly than [3H]threonine at acclimatization temperatures below 15°; this distinction disappeared at higher temperatures. 3. The rate of amino acid incorporation rose as the environmental temperature was increased. 4. The number of valine residues in mucosal protein fell and the number of methionine residues rose as the acclimatization temperature was raised. 5. The concentration of free methionine was closely related to the amount in protein in goldfish mucosa; both increased at higher acclimatization temperatures. 6. An attempt is made to show that these changes are integrated with possible homoeostatic mechanisms in the goldfish intestine.  相似文献

The relative amounts of the different forms of morphine, and many other pharmacologic agents, depend on temperature and pH. Some forms are more efficacious because they are uncharged and can penetrate lipid membranes more easily than the charged forms. Persons who administer pharmacologic agents to ectotherms (that is, cold-blooded animals) should consider the effect of temperature on the relative amounts of the different forms of drugs. For example, the fraction of morphine present in the uncharged form is twice as high in a fish or frog at 5 degrees C as in a mammal at 37 degrees C. Moreover, because the pH of blood, plasma, and tissues of ectotherms is higher when they are held at lower temperatures, the combined effect of temperature and pH on the speciation of pharmacologic agents also should be considered. In addition, the total solubility of morphine and other pharmacologic agents depends on temperature and pH. The purpose of this overview is to describe how temperature and pH influence the solubility and speciation of morphine.  相似文献

The dynamics and intensity of radiolabelled carbon incorporation from [14C] putrescine into homocarnosine in the brains of rats of various age have been studied. In the brains of 1-, 7-, and 2-day-old rats putrescine is the main GABA source for homocarnosine synthesis. In the brains of 14- and 31-day-old animals the GABA formed from glutamic acid participates in homocarnosine synthesis alongside with putrescine. In the brains of adult rats the rate of [14C] incorporation from glutamic acid into homocarnosine is 7 times as low as that of [14C] incorporation from putrescine.  相似文献

At 14° C, standard metabolic rate (75·1 mg O2 h−1 kg−1), routine metabolic rate (108.8 mg O2 h−1 kg−1), active metabolic rate ( c . 380 mg O2 h−1 kg−1), critical swimming speed (Ucrit 1·7 BL s−1), heart rate 47 min−1), dorsal aortic pressure (3·2 kPa) and ventilation frequency (63 min−1) for triploid brown trout Salmo trutta were within the ranges reported for diploid brown trout and other salmonids at the same temperature. During prolonged swimming ( c . 80% U crit), cardiac output increased by 2·3-fold due to increases in heart rate (1·8-fold) and stroke volume (1·2-fold). At 18° C, although standard and routine metabolic rates, as well as resting heart rate and ventilation frequency increased significantly, active metabolic rate and certain cardiorespiratory variables during exercise did not differ from those values for fish acclimated to 14° C. As a result, factorial metabolic scope was reduced (2·93-fold at 18° C v . 5·13-fold at 14° C). Therefore, it is concluded that cardiorespiratory performance in triploid brown trout was not unusual at 18° C, but that reduced factorial metabolic scope may be a contributing factor to the mortality observed in triploid brown trout at temperatures near 18° C.  相似文献

Summary Thickness, relative water content (RWC), osmotic pressure, water potential isotherms, and mucopolysaccharide content were measured for the photosynthetic chlorenchyma and the water-storage parenchyma of the winter hardy cactus, Opuntia humifusa, after shifting from day/night air temperatures of 25° C/15° C to 5° C/–5° C. After 14 d at 5° C/–5° C, the average fraction of water contained in the symplast decreased from 0.92 to 0.78, the water potential of saturated (fully hydrated) tissue was essentially unchanged, but the osmotic pressure of saturated tissue decreased (by 0.15 MPa for the chlorenchyma and 0.12 MPa for the water-storage parenchyma). After 7 weeks at 5° C/–5° C, tissue thickness was reduced by 61% for the chlorenchyma and 65% for the water-storage parenchyma, and the RWC decreased by 42% and 68%, respectively; these changes contributed to an osmotic pressure increase of 0.55 MPa for the chlorenchyma and 0.34 MPa for the water-storage parenchyma. During the 7 week acclimation to low temperature, mucopolysaccharide increased by 114% for the chlorenchyma and by 89% for the water-storage parenchyma. The water potential of the extracted mucopolysaccharide was relatively constant for an RWC between 1.00 and 0.30, decreasing abruptly below 0.30. Changes in water relations parameters and in mucopolysaccharide content during low-temperature acclimation may reduce water efflux from the cells, and thus reduce damage due to rapid dehydration during extracellular freezing.  相似文献
