Ohne ZusammenfassungNachdem die vorliegende Abhandlung bereits an die Redaction abgesendet war, veröffentlichte Prof. Magnus in den Sitzungsberichten der Gesellschaft naturforschender Freunde in Berlin 1890, Nr. 2, S. 29, die Beschreibung einer neuen Puccinia, welche erP. singularis nannte und die von Heimerl aufAnemone ranunculoides bei Hütteldorf nächst Wien gesammelt worden war. Es erscheint mir zweifellos, dassP. singularis Magnus undP. Bäumleri Lagerh. identisch sind; in Folge dessen ist letzterer Name, als der später publicirte, als Synonym zu dem ersteren zu stellen. Wenn ich die vorliegende Abhandlung trotzdem publicire, so geschieht es, weil durch sie nicht blos die Abhandlung Magnus eine Bestätigung, mit Bezug auf die Verbreitung des Pilzes eine Ergänzung findet, sondern auch, weil durch sie die Beschreibung des jedenfalls verbreiteten Pilzes allgemein bekannt wird. Bezüglich des Vorkommens derPuccinia singularis Magnus möchte ich anführen, dass sie aufAnemone ranunculoides 1885 von Eggerth im Prater bei Wien gesammelt und mir alsP. fusca übergeben wurde.

Inheritance of rapeseed (Brassica napus)-specific RAPD markers and a transgene in the cross B. juncea x (B. juncea x B. napus)

We have examined the inheritance of 20 rapeseed (Brassica napus)-specific RAPD (randomly amplified polymorphic DNA) markers from transgenic, herbicide-tolerant rapeseed in 54 plants of the BC₁ generation from the cross B. junceax(B. junceaxB. napus). Hybridization between B. juncea and B. napus, with B. juncea as the female parent, was successful both in controlled crosses and spontaneously in the field. The controlled backcrossing of selected hybrids to B. juncea, again with B. juncea as the female parent, also resulted in many seeds. The BC₁ plants contained from 0 to 20 of the rapeseed RAPD markers, and the frequency of inheritance of individual RAPD markers ranged from 19% to 93%. The transgene was found in 52% of the plants analyzed. Five synteny groups of RAPD markers were identified. In the hybrids pollen fertility was 0–28%. The hybrids with the highest pollen fertility were selected as male parents for backcrossing, and pollen fertility in the BC₁ plants was improved (24–90%) compared to that of the hybrids.

报道了豆科Leguminosae昆仑岩黄耆Hedysarum krassnovii B．Fedtsch．在中国的分布。昆仑岩黄耆与近缘种红花岩黄耆H.multijugum Maxim.形态易混淆,但以其小叶3-9×3-7mm;旗瓣倒卵形,顶端凹陷约2mm深;翼瓣狭披针形;龙骨瓣近半圆形或矩圆形;花萼二唇彤;荚果具1-2节荚等性状易于区分。另外,此二种的物候期、生境及地理分布亦有区别。     

Metabolism of 2,4,6-trinitrotoluene (TNT) by Desulfovibrio sp. (B strain)

A sulfate-reducing bacterium, Desulfovibrio sp. (B strain) isolated from an anaerobic reactor treating furfural-containing waste-water was studied for its ability to metabolize trinitrotoluene (TNT). The result showed that this isolate could transform 100 ppm TNT within 7 to 10 days of incubation at 37°C, when grown with 30 mm pyruvate as the primary carbon source and 20 mm sulfate as electron acceptor. Under these conditions, the main intermediate produced was 2,4-diamino-6-nitrotoluene. Under culture conditions where TNT served as the sole source of nitrogen for growth with pyruvate as electron donor and sulfate as electron acceptor, TNT was first converted to 2,4-diamino-6-nitrotoluene within 10 days of incubation. This intermediate was further converted to toluene by a reductive deamination process via triaminotoluene. Apart from pyruvate, various other carbon sources such as ethanol, lactate, formate and H₂ + CO₂ were also studied as potential electron donors for TNT metabolism. The rate of TNT biotransformation by Desulfovibrio sp. (B strain) was compared with other sulfate-reducing bacteria and the results were evaluated. This new strain may be useful in decontaminating TNT-contaminated soil and water under anaerobic conditions in conjunction with toluene-degrading denitrifiers (Pseudomonas spp.) or toluene-degrading sulfate reducers in a mixed culture system. MORPHOMETRY OF BATRACHOSPERMUM POPULATIONS INTERMEDIATE BETWEEN B. BORYANUM AND B. ECTOCARPUM (RHODOPHYTA)1

Batrachospermum plants collected as part of a comprehensive study of New England streams were found to be intermediate between B. boryanum Sirdt. find B. ectocarpum Sirdt. Sixty-four specimens from ten Rhode Island streams were examined for several characteristics in replicates of two to four hundred. The size ranges obtained were then compared with previous published data for B. boryanum and B. ectocarpum from Europe, Asia and North America. The Rhode Inland populations and individuals exhibited as much or even more variability as that reported for both species combined throughout the world. Therefore, it appears that there is no definite basis for separation of these taxa and it is proposed that they be merged under the name B. boryanum. This combined species ran be distinguished from other species of the section Batrachospermum by compressed mature lateral whorls, little secondary fascicle formation, curved distal branching, terminal hairs on a small proportion of branches, predominantly dioecious state, sessile trichogynes and carposporophytes in outer portions of lateral whorls.
