Plasma catecholamine concentrations (norepinephrine, NE; epinephrine, E) were measured along with heart rate (HR) and blood pressure (BP) at rest in supine (20 min) and standing (10 min) positions and in response to cycle ergometer exercise (5 min; 60% estimated maximal aerobic power) in 12 hypertensive patients before and after 20 weeks of aerobic training on cycle ergometer (six males, one female) or by jogging (five males). In a control group of labile hypertensive patients (five males, two females), estimated maximal aerobic power as well as HR and BP at rest in the supine and standing positions and in response to exercise were not modified from the first to the second evaluation (43 +/- 4 vs 43 +/- 5 ml.kg-1.min-1). In comparison estimated maximal aerobic power significantly increased in both training groups (cycle: 38 +/- 4 to 43 +/- 4; jogging: 38 +/- 3 to 46 +/- 4 ml.kg-1.min-1). However HR and BP were not modified following training, except for small reductions in systolic (18.9 to 18 kPa: 142 to 135 mmHg) and diastolic pressures (13.3 to 12 kPa: 100 to 90 mmHg) (p less than 0.05) at standing rest in the cycle group.(ABSTRACT TRUNCATED AT 250 WORDS)  相似文献

The purpose of this study was to examine the effect of intense interval training on erythrocyte 2,3-diphosphoglycerate (2,3-DPG) levels at rest and after maximal exercise. Eight normal men, mean +/- SE = 24.2 +/- 4.3 years, trained 4 days X week-1 for a period of 8 weeks. Each training session consisted of eight maximal 30-s rides on a cycle ergometer, with 4 min active rest between rides . Prior to and after training the subjects performed a maximal 45-s ride on an isokinetic cycle ergometer at 90 rev X min-1 and a graded leg exercise test ( GLET ) to exhaustion on a cycle ergometer. Blood samples were obtained from an antecubital vein before, during and after the GLET only. Training elicited significant increases in the amount of work done during the 45-s ride (P less than 0.05), and also in maximal oxygen uptake (VO2 max: Pre = 4.01 +/- 0.13; Post = 4.29 +/- 0.07 1 X min-1; P less than 0.05) during exercise and total recovery VO2 (Pre = 19.14 +/- 0.09; Post = 21.45 +/- 0.10 1 X 30 min-1; P less than 0.05) after the GLET . After training blood lactate was higher, base excess lower and pH lower during and following the GLET (P less than 0.05 for all variables).(ABSTRACT TRUNCATED AT 250 WORDS)  相似文献

The purpose of this investigation was to compare the effects of stretching vs. potentiation on subsequent maximal force and rate of force development capabilities of subjects in an isometric squat. Ten male collegiate athletes participated as subjects in this study. Subjects were tested during 3 separate sessions that involved joint range of motion (ROM) measurements of the lower body and isometric squat trials on a force plate to determine peak force (PF) and rate of force development (RFD) values. One testing session was preceded by 10 minutes of quiet sitting (C), 1 by a 30-minute lower-body stretching protocol (S), and 1 by 3 sets of a leg press exercise using 90% of the subjects' previously determined 1 repetition maximum (P). Three repetitions were performed for each set of the leg press, with a 3-minute rest period between each set. PF during the isometric squat was not significantly different following any of the 3 conditions (C: 100.0 +/- 0.0%, S: 101.2 +/- 6.5%, P: 98.6 +/- 6.2%). However, RFD was significantly lower in P (87.5 +/- 12.8%) compared with both C (100.0 +/- 0.0%) and S (102.6 +/- 18.5%). Significant improvement in ROM occurred only following P. It appears the potentiation protocol used in the current investigation may actually have had fatiguing effects instead of potentiating effects, but it did result in significant increases in ROM.  相似文献

The effects of dietary supplementation of dihydroxyacetone and pyruvate (DHAP) on metabolic responses and endurance capacity during leg exercise were determined in eight untrained males (20-30 yr). During the 7 days before exercise, a high-carbohydrate diet was consumed (70% carbohydrate, 18% protein, 12% fat; 35 kcal/kg body weight). One hundred grams of either Polycose (placebo) or dihydroxyacetone and pyruvate (treatment, 3:1) were substituted for a portion of carbohydrate. Dietary conditions were randomized, and subjects consumed each diet separated by 7-14 days. After each diet, cycle ergometer exercise (70% of peak oxygen consumption) was performed to exhaustion. Biopsy of the vastus lateralis muscle was obtained before and after exercise. Blood samples were drawn through radial artery and femoral vein catheters at rest, after 30 min of exercise, and at exercise termination. Leg endurance was 66 +/- 4 and 79 +/- 2 min after placebo and DHAP, respectively (P less than 0.01). Muscle glycogen at rest and exhaustion did not differ between diets. Whole leg arteriovenous glucose difference was greater (P less than 0.05) for DHAP than for placebo at rest (0.36 +/- 0.05 vs. 0.19 +/- 0.07 mM) and after 30 min of exercise (1.06 +/- 0.14 vs. 0.65 +/- 0.10 mM) but did not differ at exhaustion. Plasma free fatty acids, glycerol, and beta-hydroxybutyrate were similar during rest and exercise for both diets. Estimated total glucose oxidation during exercise was 165 +/- 17 and 203 +/- 15 g after placebo and DHAP, respectively (P less than 0.05). It is concluded that feeding of DHAP for 7 days in conjunction with a high carbohydrate diet enhances leg exercise endurance capacity by increasing glucose extraction by muscle.  相似文献

The purpose of this study was to assess the effects of a 2 h cycle exercise (50% VO2max) on heart rate (HR) and blood pressure (BP), and on plasma epinephrine (E) and norepinephrine (NE) concentrations, during the recovery period in seven normotensive subjects. Measurements were made at rest in supine (20 min) and standing (10 min) positions, during isometric exercise (hand-grip, 3 min, 25% maximal voluntary, contraction), in response to a mild psychosocial challenge (Stroop conflicting color word task) and during a 5-min period of light exercise (42 +/- 3% VO2max). Data were compared to measurements taken on another occasion under similar experimental conditions, without a previous exercise bout (control). The results showed HR to be slightly elevated in all conditions following the exercise bout. However, diastolic and systolic BP during the recovery period following exercise were not significantly different from the values observed in the control situation. Plasma NE concentrations in supine position and in response to the various physiological and/or psychosocial challenges were similar in the control situation and during the recovery period following exercise. On the other hand plasma E (nmol.1-1) was about 50% lower at rest (0.11 +/- 0.03 vs 0.23 +/- 0.04) as well as in response to hand-grip (0.21 +/- 0.04 vs 0.41 +/- 0.20) and the Stroop-test (0.21 +/- 0.05 vs 0.41 +/- 0.15) following the exercise bout.(ABSTRACT TRUNCATED AT 250 WORDS)  相似文献

The purpose of this study was to examine the effects of both intensity and volume of training during a 2 d.wk(-1) in-season resistance-training program (RTP) for American football players. Fifty-three National Collegiate Athletic Association Division III football players were tested in the 1 repetition maximum (1RM) bench press and 1RM squat on the first day of summer training camp (PRE) and during the final week of the regular season (POST). Subjects were required to perform 3 sets of 6-8 repetitions per exercise. Significant strength improvements in squat were observed from PRE (155.0 +/- 31.8 kg) to POST (163.3 +/- 30.0 kg), whereas no PRE to POST changes in bench press were seen (124.7 +/- 21.0 kg vs.123.9 +/- 18.6 kg, respectively). Training volume and training compliance were not related to strength improvement. Further analysis showed that athletes training at >or=80% of their PRE 1RM had significantly greater strength improvements than athletes training at <80% of their PRE 1RM, for both bench press and squat. Strength improvements can be seen in American football players, during an in-season RTP, as long as exercise intensity is >or=80% of the 1RM.  相似文献

Maximal vascular leg conductance in trained and untrained men   总被引:4,自引:0,他引:4
Lower leg blood flow and vascular conductance were studied and related to maximal oxygen uptake in 15 sedentary men (28.5 +/- 1.2 yr, mean +/- SE) and 11 endurance-trained men (30.5 +/- 2.0 yr). Blood flows were obtained at rest and during reactive hyperemia produced by ischemic exercise to fatigue. Vascular conductance was computed from blood flow measured by venous occlusion plethysmography, and mean arterial blood pressure was determined by auscultation of the brachial artery. Resting blood flow and mean arterial pressure were similar in both groups (combined mean, 3.0 ml X min-1 X 100 ml-1 and 88.2 mmHg). After ischemic exercise, blood flows were 29- and 19-fold higher (P less than 0.001) than rest in trained (83.3 +/- 3.8 ml X min-1 X 100 ml-1) and sedentary subjects (61.5 +/- 2.3 ml X min-1 X 100 ml-1), respectively. Blood pressure and heart rate were only slightly elevated in both groups. Maximal vascular conductance was significantly higher (P less than 0.001) in the trained compared with the sedentary subjects. The correlation coefficients for maximal oxygen uptake vs. vascular conductance were 0.81 (trained) and 0.45 (sedentary). These data suggest that physical training increases the capacity for vasodilation in active limbs and also enables the trained individual to utilize a larger fraction of maximal vascular conductance than the sedentary subject.  相似文献

This study was undertaken to determine whether combined elastic and free weight resistance (CR) provides different strength and power adaptations than free weight resistance (FWR) training alone. Forty-four young (age 20 +/- 1 years), resistance-trained (4 +/- 2 years' experience) subjects were recruited from men's basketball and wrestling teams and women's basketball and hockey teams at Cornell University. Subjects were stratified according to team, then randomly assigned to the control (C; n = 21) or experimental group (E; n = 23). Before and after 7 weeks of resistance training, subjects were tested for lean body mass, 1 repetition maximum back squat and bench press, and peak and average power. Both C and E groups performed identical workouts except that E used CR (i.e., elastic resistance) for the back squat and bench press, whereas the C group used FWR alone. CR was performed using an elastic bungee cord attached to a standard barbell loaded with plates. Elastic tension was accounted for in an attempt to equalize the total work done by each group. Statistical analyses revealed significant (P < 0.05) between-group differences after training. Compared with C, improvement for E was nearly three times greater for back squat (16.47 +/- 5.67 vs. 6.84 +/- 4.42 kg increase), two times greater for bench press (6.68 +/- 3.41 vs. 3.34 +/- 2.67 kg increase), and nearly three times greater for average power (68.55 +/- 84.35 vs. 23.66 +/- 40.56 watt increase). Training with CR may be better than FWR alone for developing lower and upper body strength, and lower body power in resistance-trained individuals. Long-term effects are unclear, but CR training makes a meaningful contribution in the short term to performance adaptations of experienced athletes.  相似文献

Our previous work has demonstrated that professional athletes show protocol-dependent variability in salivary testosterone (T) responses to resistance exercise (RE). The current study examines the consistency and functional outcomes of prescribing a RE regimen based on T response. We hypothesized that prescribing an individual-specific RE protocol based on T response would enhance weight training gains. Sixteen amateur rugby players [(mean +/- SD) age: 20 +/- 2 years; height: 181.5 +/- 8.2 cm; weight: 94.2 +/- 11.1 kg] were characterized by their maximal (Tmax) and minimal (Tmin) T response to four RE protocols: four sets of 10 repetitions (reps) at 70% of one repetition maximum (1RM) with 2 minutes' rest between sets (4 x10-70%); three sets of five reps at 85% 1RM with 3 minutes' rest (3 x 5-85%); five sets of 15 reps at 55% of 1RM with 1 minute's rest (5 x 15-55%); and three sets of 5 reps at 40% 1RM with 3 minutes' rest (3 x 5-40%). Eight athletes then performed a 3-week training block performing only their Tmax protocol. The remaining eight only performed Tmin. After 3 weeks, the athletes were retested on the RE protocols and then crossed over and performed the alternate 3-week training block. All 16 athletes showed significant increases in estimated bench and leg press 1RM strength and bodyweight while performing Tmax. When Tmin was performed, 75% of athletes showed either no change or a significant decline in 1RM performance. Consistent protocol-responses over the experimental period were seen for both the Tmax and Tmin protocols in 12 of 16 athletes. Thus, a relationship between an individual's biologically available T response to RE and enhanced functional gains is reported.  相似文献

Insulin and muscle contractions are major stimuli for glucose uptake in skeletal muscle and have in young healthy people been shown to be additive. We studied the effect of superimposed exercise during a maximal insulin stimulus on glucose uptake and clearance in trained (T) (1-legged bicycle training, 30 min/day, 6 days/wk for 10 wk at approximately 70% of maximal O(2) uptake) and untrained (UT) legs of healthy men (H) [n = 6, age 60 +/- 2 (SE) yr] and patients with Type 2 diabetes mellitus (DM) (n = 4, age 56 +/- 3 yr) during a hyperinsulinemic ( approximately 16,000 pmol/l), isoglycemic clamp with a final 30 min of superimposed two-legged exercise at 70% of individual maximal heart rate. With superimposed exercise, leg glucose extraction decreased (P < 0.05), and leg blood flow and leg glucose clearance increased (P < 0.05), compared with hyperinsulinemia alone. During exercise, leg blood flow was similar in both groups of subjects and between T and UT legs, whereas glucose extraction was always higher (P < 0.05) in T compared with UT legs (15.8 +/- 1.2 vs. 14.6 +/- 1.8 and 11.9 +/- 0.8 vs. 8.8 +/- 1.8% for H and DM, respectively) and leg glucose clearance was higher in T (H: 73 +/- 8, DM: 70 +/- 10 ml. min(-1). kg leg(-1)) compared with UT (H: 63 +/- 8, DM: 45 +/- 7 ml. min(-1). kg leg(-1)) but not different between groups (P > 0.05). From these results it can be concluded that, in both diabetic and healthy aged muscle, exercise adds to a maximally insulin-stimulated glucose clearance and that glucose extraction and clearance are both enhanced by training.  相似文献

The objective of these experiments was to determine whether living and training in moderate hypoxia (MHx) confers an advantage on maximal normoxic exercise capacity compared with living and training in normoxia. Rats were acclimatized to and trained in MHx [inspired PO2 (PI(O2)) = 110 Torr] for 10 wk (HTH). Rats living in normoxia trained under normoxic conditions (NTN) at the same absolute work rate: 30 m/min on a 10 degrees incline, 1 h/day, 5 days/wk. At the end of training, rats exercised maximally in normoxia. Training increased maximal O2 consumption (VO2 max) in NTN and HTH above normoxic (NS) and hypoxic (HS) sedentary controls. However, VO2 max and O2 transport variables were not significantly different between NTN and HTH: VO2 max 86.6 +/- 1.5 vs. 86.8 +/- 1.1 ml x min(-1) x kg(-1); maximal cardiac output 456 +/- 7 vs. 443 +/- 12 ml x min(-1) x kg(-1); tissue blood O2 delivery (cardiac output x arterial O2 content) 95 +/- 2 vs. 96 +/- 2 ml x min(-1) x kg(-1); and O2 extraction ratio (arteriovenous O2 content difference/arterial O2 content) 0.91 +/- 0.01 vs. 0.90 +/- 0.01. Mean pulmonary arterial pressure (Ppa, mmHg) was significantly higher in HS vs. NS (P < 0.05) at rest (24.5 +/- 0.8 vs. 18.1 +/- 0.8) and during maximal exercise (32.0 +/- 0.9 vs. 23.8 +/- 0.6). Training in MHx significantly attenuated the degree of pulmonary hypertension, with Ppa being significantly lower at rest (19.3 +/- 0.8) and during maximal exercise (29.2 +/- 0.5) in HTH vs. HS. These data indicate that, despite maintaining equal absolute training intensity levels, acclimatization to and training in MHx does not confer significant advantages over normoxic training. On the other hand, the pulmonary hypertension associated with acclimatization to hypoxia is reduced with hypoxic exercise training.  相似文献

The impact of exercise training on sympathetic activation is not well understood, especially across untrained and trained limbs in athletes. Therefore, in eight sedentary subjects (maximal oxygen consumption = 40 +/- 2 ml x kg(-1) x min(-1)) and eight competitive cyclists (maximal oxygen consumption = 64 +/- 2 ml x kg(-1) x min(-1)), we evaluated heart rate, blood pressure, blood flow, vascular conductance, and vascular resistance in the leg and arm during acute sympathetic stimulation [cold pressor test (CPT)]. The CPT was also performed during dynamic leg (knee extensor) or arm (handgrip) exercise at 50% of maximal work rate (WRmax) with measurements in the exercising limb. At rest, the CPT decreased vascular conductance similarly in the leg and arm of sedentary subjects (-33 +/- 8% leg, -38 +/- 6% arm) and cyclists (-34 +/- 4% leg, -31 +/- 9% arm), and during exercise CPT-induced vasoconstriction was blunted (i.e., sympatholysis) in both the leg and arm of both groups. However, the magnitude of sympatholysis was significantly different between the arm and leg of the sedentary group (-47 +/- 11% arm, -25 +/- 8% leg), and it was less in the arm of cyclists (-28 +/- 11%) than sedentary controls. Taken together, these data provide evidence that sympathetically mediated vasoconstriction is expressed equally and globally at rest in both sedentary and trained individuals, with a differential pattern of vasoconstriction during acute exercise according to limb and exercise training status.  相似文献

Six men exercised on a cycle ergometer for 60 min on two occasions one week apart, at 68 +/- 3% of VO2max. On one occasion, a dilute glucose/electrolyte solution (E: osmolality 310 mosmol X kg-1, glucose content 200 mmol X l-1) was given orally at a rate of 100 ml every 10 min, beginning immediately prior to exercise. On the other occasion, a glucose polymer solution (P: osmolality 630 mosmol X kg-1, glucose content equivalent to 916 mmol X l-1) was given at the same rate. Blood samples were obtained from a superficial forearm vein immediately prior to exercise and at 15-min intervals during exercise; further samples were obtained at 15-min intervals for 60 min at rest following exercise. Heart rate and rectal temperature were measured at 5-min intervals during exercise. Blood glucose concentration was not different between the two tests during exercise, but rose to a peak of 8.7 +/- 1.2 mmol X l-1 (mean +/- SD) at 30-min post-exercise when P was drunk. Blood glucose remained unchanged during and after exercise when E was drunk. Plasma insulin levels were unchanged during exercise and were the same on both trials, but again a sharp rise in plasma insulin concentration was seen after exercise when P was drunk. The rate of carbohydrate oxidation during exercise, as calculated from VO2 and the respiratory exchange ratio, was not different between the two tests.(ABSTRACT TRUNCATED AT 250 WORDS)  相似文献

The purpose of this research was to devise prediction equations whereby a 10 repetition maximum (10RM) for the free weight parallel squat could be predicted using the following predictor variables: 10RM for the 45 degrees angled leg press, body mass, and limb length. Sixty men were tested over a 3-week period, with 1 testing session each week. During each testing session, subjects performed a 10RM for the free weight parallel squat and 45 degrees angled leg press. Stepwise multiple regression analysis showed leg press mass lifted to be a significant predictor of squat mass lifted for both the advanced and the novice groups (p < 0.05). Leg press mass lifted accounted for approximately 25% of the variance in squat mass lifted for the novice group and 55% of the variance in squat mass lifted for the advanced group. Limb length and body mass were not significant predictors of squat mass lifted for either group. The following prediction equations were devised: (a) novice group squat mass = leg press mass (0.210) + 36.244 kg, (b) advanced group squat mass = leg press mass (0.310) + 19.438 kg, and (c) subject pool squat mass = leg press mass (0.354) + 2.235 kg. These prediction equations may save time and reduce the risk of injury when switching from the leg press to the squat exercise.  相似文献

The effects of dietary supplementation of dihydroxyacetone and pyruvate (DHAP) on endurance capacity and metabolic responses during arm exercise were determined in 10 untrained males (20-26 yr). Subjects performed arm ergometer exercise (60% peak O2 consumption) to exhaustion after consumption of standard diets (55% carbohydrate, 15% protein, 30% fat; 35 kcal/kg) containing either 100 g of Polycose (placebo, P) or DHAP (3:1, treatment) substituted for a portion of carbohydrate. The two diets were administered in a random order, and each was consumed for a 7-day period. Biopsy of the triceps muscle was obtained immediately before and after exercise. Blood samples were drawn through radial artery and axillary vein catheters at rest, after 60 min of exercise, and at exercise termination. Arm endurance was 133 +/- 20 min after P and 160 +/- 22 min after DHAP (P less than 0.01). Triceps glycogen at rest was 88 +/- 8 (P) and 130 +/- 19 mmol/kg (DHAP) (P less than 0.05). Whole arm arteriovenous glucose difference (mmol/l) was greater (P less than 0.05) for DHAP than P at rest (0.60 +/- 0.12 vs. 0.05 +/- 0.09) and after 60 min of exercise (1.00 +/- 0.12 vs. 0.36 +/- 0.11), but it did not differ at exhaustion. Neither respiratory exchange ratio nor respiratory quotient differed between trials at rest, after 60 min of exercise, or at exhaustion. Plasma free fatty acid, glycerol, beta-hydroxybutyrate, catecholamines, and insulin were similar during rest and exercise for both diets. Feeding DHAP for 7 days increased arm muscle glucose extraction before and during exercise, thereby enhancing submaximal arm endurance capacity.  相似文献

The skeletal muscle capillary supply is an important determinant of maximum exercise capacity, and it is well known that endurance exercise training increases the muscle capillary supply. The muscle capillary supply and exercise-induced angiogenesis are regulated in part by vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF). VEGF is produced by skeletal muscle cells and can be secreted into the circulation. We investigated whether there are differences in circulating plasma VEGF between sedentary individuals (Sed) and well-trained endurance athletes (ET) at rest or in response to acute exercise. Eight ET men (maximal oxygen consumption: 63.8 +/- 2.3 ml x kg(-1) x min(-1); maximum power output: 409.4 +/- 13.3 W) and eight Sed men (maximal oxygen consumption: 36.3 +/- 2.1 ml x kg(-1) x min(-1); maximum power output: 234.4 +/- 13.3 W) exercised for 1 h at 50% of maximum power output. Antecubital vein plasma was collected at rest and at 0, 2, and 4 h postexercise. Plasma VEGF was measured by ELISA analysis. Acute exercise significantly increased VEGF at 0 and 2 h postexercise in ET subjects but did not increase VEGF at any time point in Sed individuals. There was no difference in VEGF between ET and Sed subjects at any time point. When individual peak postexercise VEGF was analyzed, exercise did increase VEGF independent of training status. In conclusion, exercise can increase plasma VEGF in both ET athletes and Sed men; however, there is considerable variation in the individual time of the peak VEGF response.  相似文献

The purpose of this study was to compare linear (LT) with nonlinear (NL) in-season training programs in freshman football players during the course of 2 separate seasons. During the first year (n = 14, mean +/- SD = 177.3 +/- 4.8 cm, 88.0 +/- 9.7 kg), the LT program was employed 2 days per week. In the second year (n = 14, 175.0 +/- 7.1 cm, 94.2 +/- 20.5 kg), a 2 days per week LT was used. Subjects were tested for maximal strength in the squat (1 repetition maximum [1RM]) and bench press (1RM) exercises. A significant improvement in 1RM squat was seen in LT, but not in NL. No significant improvement in 1RM bench press was seen in either group. A significant difference between LT and NL was observed in Delta1RM squat (13.8 +/- 7.4 kg compared with 1.6 +/- 2.6 kg, respectively). Results of this study suggest that LT may be more effective in eliciting strength gains than NL in freshman football players during an in-season training program.  相似文献

This study examined the time course of glycogen accumulation in skeletal muscle depleted by concentric work and subsequently subjected to eccentric exercise. Eight men exercised to exhaustion on a cycle ergometer [70% of maximal O2 consumption (VO2max)] and were placed on a carbohydrate-restricted diet. Approximately 12 h later they exercised one leg to subjective failure by repeated eccentric action of the knee extensors against a resistance equal to 120% of their one-repetition maximum concentric knee extension force (ECC leg). The contralateral leg was not exercised and served as a control (CON leg). During the 72-h recovery period, subjects consumed 7 g carbohydrate.kg body wt-1.day-1. Moderate soreness was experienced in the ECC leg 24-72 h after eccentric exercise. Muscle biopsies from the vastus lateralis of the ECC and CON legs revealed similar glycogen levels immediately after eccentric exercise (40.2 +/- 5.2 and 47.6 +/- 6.4 mmol/kg wet wt, respectively; P greater than 0.05). There was no difference in the glycogen content of ECC and CON legs after 6 h of recovery (77.7 +/- 7.9 and 85.1 +/- 4.9 mmol/kg wet wt, respectively; P greater than 0.05), but 18 h later, the ECC leg contained 15% less glycogen than the CON leg (90.2 +/- 8.2 vs. 105.8 +/- 8.9 mmol/kg wet wt; P less than 0.05). After 72 h of recovery, this difference had increased to 24% (115.8 +/- 8.0 vs. 153.0 +/- 12.2 mmol/kg wet wt; P less than 0.05). These data confirm that glycogen accumulation is impaired in eccentrically exercised muscle.(ABSTRACT TRUNCATED AT 250 WORDS)  相似文献

The purpose of this research was to compare differences between 3 different rest intervals on the squat and bench press volume completed during a workout. Fifteen college-aged men volunteered to participate in this study (age 20.73 +/- 2.60 years; body mass 80.73 +/- 10.80 kg). All subjects performed 3 testing sessions, during which 4 sets of the squat and bench press were performed with an 8 repetition maximum (8RM) load. During each testing session, the squat and bench press were performed with a 1, 2, or 5-minute rest interval between sets. Volume was defined as the total number of repetitions completed over 4 sets for each rest condition. Statistical analysis was conducted separately for the squat and bench press. One-way repeated analyses of variance with Bonferroni post hocs demonstrated significant differences between each rest condition for both exercises tested (p < 0.05). The 5-minute rest condition resulted in the highest volume completed, followed in descending order by the 2- and 1-minute rest conditions. The ability to perform a higher volume of training with a given load may stimulate greater strength adaptations.  相似文献

This is the first study to examine the effects of endurance training on the activation state of glycogen phosphorylase (Phos) and pyruvate dehydrogenase (PDH) in human skeletal muscle during exercise. We hypothesized that 7 wk of endurance training (Tr) would result in a posttransformationally regulated decrease in flux through Phos and an attenuated activation of PDH during exercise due to alterations in key allosteric modulators of these important enzymes. Eight healthy men (22 +/- 1 yr) cycled to exhaustion at the same absolute workload (206 +/- 5 W; approximately 80% of initial maximal oxygen uptake) before and after Tr. Muscle biopsies (vastus lateralis) were obtained at rest and after 5 and 15 min of exercise. Fifteen minutes of exercise post-Tr resulted in an attenuated activation of PDH (pre-Tr: 3.75 +/- 0.48 vs. post-Tr: 2.65 +/- 0.38 mmol.min(-1).kg wet wt(-1)), possibly due in part to lower pyruvate content (pre-Tr: 0.94 +/- 0.14 vs. post-Tr: 0.46 +/- 0.03 mmol/kg dry wt). The decreased pyruvate availability during exercise post-Tr may be due to a decreased muscle glycogenolytic rate (pre-Tr: 13.22 +/- 1.01 vs. post-Tr: 7.36 +/- 1.26 mmol.min(-1).kg dry wt(-1)). Decreased glycogenolysis was likely mediated, in part, by posttransformational regulation of Phos, as evidenced by smaller net increases in calculated muscle free ADP (pre-Tr: 111 +/- 16 vs. post-Tr: 84 +/- 10 micromol/kg dry wt) and P(i) (pre-Tr: 57.1 +/- 7.9 vs. post-Tr: 28.6 +/- 5.6 mmol/kg dry wt). We have demonstrated for the first time that several signals act to coordinately regulate Phos and PDH, and thus carbohydrate metabolism, in human skeletal muscle after 7 wk of endurance training.  相似文献
