An evaluation was made of the development of two experimental plots where restoration of dominant riparian plant species was conducted in December 1991 along two semiarid Mediterranean summer‐dry watercourses. An overall comparison was made of the vegetation structure, species cover, floral composition, and species richness of the plots restored using vegetation from nearby undisturbed plots along the same watercourse. The monitoring was performed in October 1993, October 1995, September 1997, and October 1999. In the restored zones previously rooted cuttings of the species most representative of these communities were planted, using the undisturbed zones as vegetation models. Climatological conditions (particularly the rainfall regime during the planting period) substantially favored the success of the planting establishment. The results show that a simple planting technique accompanied by monitoring during the first year is adequate to achieve success in establishment of planting species. It is necessary to take precautions against herbivory of small plants of Chamaerops humilis, Ficus carica, and Retama sphaerocarpa. The planting itself causes some disturbance in the soil that may alter the species composition, giving an advantage to ruderal species over others. More time is needed to attain coverage, frequency, and species composition comparable with that of undisturbed zones. 相似文献

Essential oils obtained by steam-distillation of individual samples of Thymus hyemalis were examined for variability in their volatile components by means of gas chromatography (GC) and gas chromatography-mass spectrometry (GC-MS). The thymol chemotype is widespread and is found in most of the vegetal formations where Thymus hyemalis is predominant and does not interact with other species. The carvacrol chemotype is found in isolated individual plants among those containing thymol. Although the chemotypes are usually mutually exclusive, the two phenols occasionally found with similar quantities in the same plant. The linalool chemotype has not previously been described for Thymus hyemalis. Other nonphenolic compounds (1,8-cineole, borneol, α-pinene) are present in low to medium percentages that reflect localized interactions with other species of thyme (Thymus vulgaris, Thymus baeticus) that sometimes produce hybridized or introgressive, morphologically distinguishable individuals. This chemical variability is analyzed by Principal Component Analysis (PCA) and Cluster Analysis (CA), a closely-related phenolic group of samples being revealed separated from less well represented non-phenolic chemotypes or mixed chemotypes. Multidimensional Scaling Analysis (MDS) based on percentage concentration was used to show the relationships between the most important components of the essential oil, the opposite orientation of vectors that represent phenolic compounds (and their precursors) and linalool, being of note. The data set presents positive correlation between camphor and altitude. 相似文献

The present paper is based on information on marital patterns and reproductive performance (reconstituted families) in the rural community of Los Nogales, Galicia, Spain. Biodemographic data were used to analyse temporal changes and structure of consanguinity in the population, as well as consanguinity versus reproductive success. Of 2347 marriages celebrated between 1871 and 1977, 5.15% were between relatives (up to third degree). The population's inbreeding coefficient was above the Spanish average after 1890, and levels were high during the first part of the 20th century. A possible underestimation of inbreeding coefficients is attributed to the elevated frequency of extramarital births occurring in the Los Nogales population (13.47%). The structures of consanguineous matings, expressed as C22/C33 and C33/C44, turned out to be 0.86 and 0.82 respectively. Regarding migration, before 1920 consanguinity increased, but net migration was negative. In the period 1920-1929 consanguinity began to decrease, prior to maximum emigration. As for reproductive success, information from 1503 reconstituted families shows that complete fertility was slightly higher among consanguineous families despite a greater infant mortality. Lower infertility in consanguineous matings, as well as lower age at marriage and first maternity, could explain the above results. 相似文献

Two new hybrids in the genusThymus, Th. × indalicus Blanca et al., nothosp. nov. [=Th. baeticus Boiss. exLacaita ×Th. hyemalis Lange subsp.hyemalis] andTh. × enicensis Blanca et al., nothosp. nov. [=Th. hyemalis Lange subsp.hyemalis × Th. zygis Loefl. ex L. subsp.gracilis (Boiss.)R. Morales] are described. Until now no hybrids ofTh. hyemalis have been described, due to its early period of flowering and because it hybridizes with closely related species, making rather difficult the detection of such hybrids. 相似文献

Volatile oils from single plants of Thymus serpylloides ssp. gadorensis were collected from Southeastern Spain and studied to check for chemical variability using gas chromatography (GC) and gas chromatography-mass spectrometry (GC-MS). Many of the samples showed a phenolic chemotype, while another important group had significant levels of linalool. Geraniol, myrcene, caryophyllene oxide, terpinen-4-ol and 1,8-cineole were commonly present. Principal Component Analysis (PCA) and Cluster Analysis (CA) of this chemical variability separated two groups of plants characterized by either phenols or linalool, and an isolated third type with geraniol. A few samples were found to have both phenolic and non-phenolic compounds in high quantities, thus showing a mixed chemotype. Multidimensional scaling analysis (MDS) of the percentage concentration for each component of the essential oil showed that thymol, linalool, 1,8-cineole, borneol and geraniol have clear divergent vectors. 相似文献

Marital structure and inbreeding coefficients were analyzed in La Cabrera, an isolated mountain region in northwestern Spain. A total of 5,714 marriages were celebrated from 1880 to 1989 in the 37 parishes of the area. The total frequency of consanguineous marriages (up to the fourth degree) is 23.05%; multiple consanguineous marriages are remarkably common, reaching 5.43% of the total. The first cousin/second cousin ratio (referred to as kinship-type frequencies) is 0.43. The inbreeding values are the highest recorded in Spain and in Europe: alpha3 is 4.82 x 10(-3) for the whole period and alpha4 is 6.78 x 10(-3) for 1880--1919. The temporal trend of inbreeding shows high values (alpha3 > 4.5 x 10(-3)) for a particularly long period (1900--1959) and a rapid decline from 1960 onward. This historical inbreeding trend is clearly related to changes in population size. The frequencies of multiple consanguineous marriages and the analysis of isonymy show that the inbreeding structure is related to geographic and demographic factors. Comparing the results at two hierarchical levels (La Cabrera as a whole and the 37 parishes individually), we conclude that the inbreeding values are affected by internal geographic subdivision of the population (Wahlund effect). Social and cultural factors, such as avoidance of or preference for consanguineous marriages, are less important but depend on the kinship type involved. 相似文献

Abstract Data on inbreeding in several contemporary human populations are compared, showing the highest local rates of inbreeding to be in Brazil, Japan, India, and Israel. American populations are noteworthy for their extremely low inbreeding rates, with the mean frequency of first cousin marriages in the United States probably lower than 0.1 per cent. Some localities in Puerto Rico and Sweden show inbreeding levels half‐way between the extremes found in Brazil and Japan and in the United States. For European countries, Denmark, France, Italy, and North Ireland have a mean frequency of first cousin marriages of less than 1 per cent, while England, Wales, Germany, and Holland have a frequency probably lower than 0.5 per cent. The frequency of first cousin marriages in Portugal may lie between 1 and 2 per cent. 相似文献

A new species, Limonium scopulorum (Plumbaginaceae), is described from the maritime cliffs of Alicante province, Spain (southeastern part of the Iberian Peninsula). This new taxon belongs to the group of Limonium delicatulum, which is highly diversified in the Mediterranean territories of the Iberian Peninsula. It is related to the Balearic species L. biflorum, though several leaf, floral and chromosomal features warrant its easy recognition. Molecular divergence, shown in previous studies, also supports its separate treatment. Major affinities and differences with other related taxa are discussed. Moreover, morphological, ecological, chorological, biogeographic features of the new taxon are discussed, and its conservation status is reported. An identification key is provided for Spanish taxa of the Limonium delicatulum group. 相似文献

Inbreeding in Finland 总被引:2,自引:0,他引:2
We have compiled data on the frequency of first-cousin marriages in Finland using royal dispensation records for the time period 1810-1872 and national population statistics for the time period 1878-1920. For the earlier period, 0.315% of Finland's marriages were contracted between first cousins (2,331 of 739,387). During the second time period, 0.174% of Finland's marriages took place between first cousins (1,325 of 761,976). These figures, which yield average kinship coefficients of 0.00020 and 0.00011, respectively, show that the level of inbreeding in Finland due to first-cousin marriage has been quite low. An analysis of individual parishes shows that first-cousin marriages are, on average, substantially less frequent than predicted by a random-mating model. In order to evaluate determinants of first-cousin marriage, several predictive variables have been examined: parish ethnic composition (proportion of Swedish and Finnish speakers), husband's occupation (graded into 6 socioeconomic levels), geographic distance between spouses' premarital residences, population density, parish endogamy, and urban vs. rural residence. Various logistic and linear regression models were analyzed in which consanguinity was the dependent variable. The best predictors of consanguinity were ethnic composition and occupation. The other variables were not in general significant predictors. These results show that many of the "mate availability" factors that would be predicted theoretically to account for consanguinity variation (population density, geographic isolation, urban vs. rural residence) do not. Instead, the best predictors of consanguinity at the first-cousin level are cultural factors such as ethnicity and occupation. Evaluation of cultural variables can provide a greatly enriched interpretation of complex biosocial phenomena such as inbreeding. 相似文献

The present paper examines consanguineous marriages occurring between 1874 and 1975 in three valleys (Tormes, Alberche, and Tiétar) in the Sierra de Gredos mountain range, Avila province, Spain. Information was obtained from parish registers of 42 localities, corresponding to a total of 41,696 weddings. Consanguineous marriages were defined as those up to the third degree of consanguinity (second cousins). From 1874 to 1975 the percentage of related mates was 4.45% and the inbreeding coefficient was 0.0011868 (for 1874 to 1917 corresponding figures up to the fourth degree were 16.44% and 0.00 19085, respectively). In order to ascertain the characteristics and evolution of mating patterns in Gredos, the contribution of each degree of kinship was analyzed as a whole and then for each valley separately. Regarding total consanguineous marriages in Gredos, there is a low frequency of uncle-niece matings (0.21%) and a first-second cousin mating ratio (C22/C33) of 0.23 (up to the third degree of consanguinity). Before 1918 multiple matings (i.e., those involving more than a single relationship) accounted for 19.16% of consanguineous marriages (up to the fourth degree). The observed frequencies of multiple consanguineous marriages was, on average, about twice that expected at random, and the proportion of such marriages to total inbreeding was 34.65%. The temporal change of the Gredos inbreeding pattern was characterized by a recent decrease; the highest inbreeding levels correspond to the period from 1915 to 1944. Finally, intervalley differences (maximum inbreeding coefficient in the Tormes, minimum in the Tiétar) are interpreted considering the geography, population size, and population mobility for each valley 相似文献

In this work, we analyzed inter-simple sequence repeat markers from 10 populations (298 individuals) spanning the whole distribution range of the endemic Narcissus tortifolius. We assessed genetic variation levels and distribution by estimates of genetic diversity, analysis of molecular variance (AMOVA), principal coordinates and Bayesian methods. N. tortifolius showed moderate genetic diversity at intrapopulation level and low genetic differentiation of populations. In general, Almerian populations showed slightly higher levels of genetic diversity than Murcian populations. Our results indicate that habitat fragmentation has not caused genetic depauperation in N. tortifolius but did reveal moderate genetic differentiation. Indeed, principal coordinate analysis and Mantel test revealed a slight tendency to separate populations into two groups (Murcian vs. Almerian). A recent isolation event of populations, together with the perennial nature of this species could be the main reasons for this low to moderate differentiation. Our findings could be used to establish management guidelines for the conservation of this rare species. 相似文献

Recovery of Germination from Different Osmotic Conditions by Four Halophytes from Southeastern Spain 总被引:10,自引:0,他引:10
Seeds of four halophytes from southeastern Spain (the perennialsHalocnemum strobilaceum,Arthrocnemum macrostachyum and Sarcocorniafruticosa, and the annual Salicornia ramosissima) were exposedto iso-osmotic stress with NaCl, MgCl2, MgSO4and Na2SO4. Theosmotic potential that enforced dormancy in the majority ofseeds was determined. The percentage of ungerminated seeds thatrecovered when they were transferred to distilled water didnot differ significantly from the percentage germination ofseeds in distilled water controls, irrespective of the saltused to impose the stress. Therefore, the factor responsiblefor the dormancy of seeds seems to be the decrease in osmoticpotential. Such osmotic pretreatments promoted an increase inthe rate of recovery germination which, inArthrocnemum macrostachyumand Sarcocornia fruticosa, doubled their rates of germinationcompared to distilled water controls. The osmotic potentialsof the soils where the four species occur naturally were morenegative than those allowing seeds to germinate after osmoticstress. Summary The consanguinity of parents (born in France) of individuals who have a recessive disease has been studied. The frequency of first cousin marriages is less than 0.2% in the general French population. Among the parents of affected individuals the following frequencies of first cousin matings were observed:cystic fibrosis: 1.4%cystinosis: 7.1%nephronophtisis: 5.6%spinal muscular atrophy: 4.5%albinsism: 5.0%achromatopsia: 12.5%(Albinism and spinal muscular atrophy are heterogeneous conditions). The increase in the frequency of first cousin marriages relative to that of the general population is much greater, as expected, in cystinosis, which is a rare disease, than in cystic fibrosis, which is the most frequent recessive disorder in France.Inbreeding in cystinosis and cystic fibrosis was also studied by computing the distance between parental birth places. This distance is smaller in cystinosis than in cystic fibrosis. 相似文献
