Mesophilic fungi isolated from organic fertilizer compost samples accounted for 70.94% of the total fungal count, while thermophilic
and thermotolerant fungi constituted 29.05% of that count. Eight mesophilic fungal species, namelyAspergillus niger, Monilia sitophila, Paecilomyces divaricata, Penicillium chrysogenum, P. fellutanum, Scopulariopsis brevicaulis,
S. brumptii andZygorhynchus japonicus; two thermophilic fungiHumicola grisea andOidiodendron flavum and three thermotolerant speciesAspergillus fumigatus, Thermomyces lanuginosus andZygorhynchus vuilleminii were isolated during the study.
Most of the tested fungi showed a proteolytic activity and liquified gelatin in the test tube method and in cup plates. The
thermophilic fungusO. flavum was the most potent proteolytic fungus.
The comparative fibrinolytic assay revealed the following sequence in the ability of the tested fungi to hydrolyse fibrin:O. fiavum>S. brevicaulis>H. grisea>A. fumigatus>T. lanuginosus. 相似文献

Two annual breeding seasons are indicated for populations of T. nilotica in the White Nile: a major autumnal season (mid-July–September) coinciding with the annual rainfall and a smaller back-up season in February–March. During these seasons reproducing females constituted 80% and 40% of the total population of mature females compared to 10–12% in the intervening summer period. Enhanced gonadal development, fecundity and GSI values characterized the breeding seasons. Gonadal maturation proceeded uninterruptedly even during the summer and repeated fractional spawning is suggested for this species within and beyond the breeding seasons. Most of the spring breeders were either very young or relatively old fish and most medium-sized females bred in the main autumnal season. Older fish were less fecund (by 70–75%) compared to younger fish. In the latter, fecundity increased progressively with body growth (r2 = 0.732; p<0.001); the proportionality was lost in medium-sized fish and in older females (0.9–1.5 kg) fecundity correlated negatively with increased body size. 相似文献

Six ophiostomatoid fungi, i.e.,Ceratocystiopsis minuta, Ceratocystis laricicola, Ophiostoma brunneo-ciliatum, O. laricis, O. piceae andOphiostoma sp., were isolated from the galleries ofIps cembrae on Japanese Iarch (Larix kaempferi) logs in central Honshu, Japan. Japanese larch trees approximately 30 yr old were inoculated with all six fungi.Ceratocystis laricicola produced the largest lesions on the inner bark around the inoculation point and the largest dry zone in the sapwood. In this study, we attempt to highlight part of the adaptive and phylogenetic constraints in mycobacterial pathogenicity. For
this purpose, we first provide a phylogeny of Mycobacteria based on cladistic analyses of 64 different taxa. We then performed a comparative analysis, taking into account both ecological
factors and phylogenetic relationships. The GLIM modelling analysis showed that different ecological and phylogenetic factors
might be invoked to explain the variation in pathogenicity levels. Interestingly, the most harmful species were shown to be
connected with the most diversified habitats. However, the independent contrast analysis revealed that once phylogeny was
taken into account, none of the relationships between ecological factors and pathogenicity remained significant, and the pathogenicity
appeared to be phylogenetically inherited among mycobacteria. The most pathogen were found in the slow-growing/long helix
18 group, and within this group in the most derived taxa.

Seasonal abundance, maturation and sex-structure were studied in populations of T. nilotica and L. niloticus in the Jebel Aulia reservoir and in the White Nile below the dam. L. niloticus showed a single annual breeding cycle from mid-July to December and was most abundant in October in the lake, and in early November in the river. T. nilotica showed two distinct annual seasons of abundance: summer (April to June) and autumn (November to October). Spawning activity was highest in summer (April to June) and autumn (late July to September). The sex-ratio varied inversely with age (size); males were predominant in populations of older fish, perhaps because of their greater endurance to adverse conditions as evidenced by their better survival in hypoxic water. 相似文献

Antifungal activity of Tagetes patula extracts on some phytopathogenic fungi: ultrastructural evidence on Pythium ultimum 总被引:2,自引:0,他引:2
Methanol extract, obtained from Tagetes patula plant, was assayed against three phytopathogenic fungi: Botrytis cinerea, Fusarium moniliforme and Pythium ultimum. The antifungal activity was tested both in the dark and in the light, using two different lighting systems. The data showed that the extract proved to have a dose-dependent activity on all the fungi with a marked difference between treatments in the light than in the dark. Good growth inhibition was observed in fungi only when these were treated with the highest dose of the extract and irradiated, whereas the same dose gave only a modest inhibition when the experiment was conducted in the dark. At 5 and 10 microg/ml in the dark, growth increased. The results indicated that the presence of a luminous source enhances the antifungal activity, with small differences between UV-A and solar spectrum light. SEM and TEM observations on Pythium ultimum revealed that the Tagetes patula extract induced alterations on cell fungal membranes with a photoactivation mechanism possibly involving the production of free radicals and leading to a premature aging of the mycelium. 相似文献

Zoosporic root-infecting pathogens are the most destructive organisms in enclosed environment agricultural systems which recycle irrigation water. Numerous strategies have been proposed for reducing or eliminating these pathogens from recycled irrigation water. These strategies include the following: filtration, sedimentation, chlorination, ozonation, heat, ultraviolet light, application of antimicrobial chemicals, suppressive potting substrates, and biological control agents. The latter strategy has been the focus of numerous investigations but consistency in performance in disease abatement following their application has not been realized. This has been attributed, in part, to the inability of these potential biocontrol bacteria to maintain a critical threshold population necessary for sustained biocontrol activity. That threshold population has been estimated at not less than 106 CFU g?1 of soil or root. Recently, we demonstrated that amending recycled irrigation water with specific carbon substrates (i.e., N-Serve® or Truban®) resulted in the selective enhancement of the indigenous fluorescent pseudomonad populations to levels at or above the presumed threshold levels necessary for disease control. In our current study, we verified the ubiquity of that response in different cultural systems involving two different host plants (i.e., cucumber and pepper) and, most significantly, we document, for the first time, significant and sustained disease abatement. Additionally, we demonstrated that nitrapyrin, the active ingredients in N-Serve® and Truban®, exerted direct antifungal activity whereas the inert ingredients had an indirect role in disease suppression. Specifically, the inert ingredients were responsible for the increase in the fluorescent pseudomonad population. Amending the recirculating nutrient solution with a representative fluorescent pseudomonad isolate verified and substantiated their role in disease control. Cumulatively, our results support the hypothesis that it is possible to modify the environment to make it more conducive to the multiplication and survival of indigenous biocontrol bacteria. The resident microflora in many, if not most, habitats already contain prospective biological control members who, if enhanced, could function as antagonists to other microorganisms in the same habitat. 相似文献

The 5.8S and 28S ribosomal RNA sequences of the chytridiomyceteBlastocladiella emersonii were determined. These data were combined with 18S rRNA sequences in order to carry out a phylogenetic analysis based on
distance matrix, parsimony, and maximum likelihood methods. The new data confirmed that chytridiomycetes are true fungi and
not protists, as was already suggested on the basis of biochemical, ultrastructural, and 18S rRNA data. Within the fungal
clade,B. emersonii formed the first line of divergence. The position of the fungi within the eukaryotic “crown” taxa was also reassessed, and
the alveolate-stramenopile cluster appeared as their sister group. The stramenopiles also comprise a number of zoosporic fungi,
which resemble chytridiomycetes in so many respects, e.g., production of motile spores, thallus morphology, and absorptive
nutrition, that they have been classified together with them in the past. This suggests that the possible common ancestor
of the fungi, stramenopiles, and alveolates may have been a zoosporic fungus, which would mean that zoosporic fungi are paraphyletic
instead of polyphyletic as previously suggested.

Out of seven fungal species belonging to four genera isolated from pond and wallow soils using feathers of Pavo cristatus as bait, four species viz., Aspergillus flavus, Aspergillus niger, Chrysosporium pseudomerdarium and Trichophyton ajelloi were most frequent. Chrysosporium and Trichophyton spp. were more pathogenic on Culex quinquefasciatus larvae than Aspergillus and Penicillium. The bioefficacy tests conducted as per the protocol of World Health Organization and the LC50 values calculated by the Probit analysis showed that 3rd-instar C. quinquefasciatus were more susceptible to the conidia of above fungi. Highest mortality was observed in the larvae of C. quinquefasciatus when exposed to T. ajelloi. The density of fungal conidia was greatest on the ventral brush, palmate hair and anal region of the mosquito larvae after exposing for 72 hours. The potentiality of these fungi for use in the control of C. quinquefasciatus is discussed which can be exploited as a suitable biocontrol agent in the tropics. 相似文献

Many different species of fungi have been isolated from the root region of heath plants. In the absence of rapidly growing species,Dark Sterile forms predominated in culture plates. It is suggested that these have an important ecological role in the soil-root interface. AsDS forms do not appear in culture plates easily any floristic list of fungi from the root surface not mentioningDS forms must be accepted with caution. A survey was carried out on the species of fungi associated with mycotic infections of fish in a Nigerian freshwater fish pond. A total of 24 fungal species belonging to 6 genera of aquatic phycomycete were isolated from the infected fishes. Achlya racemosa, Aphanomyces laevis, Dictyuchus sterile, Saprolegnia ferax, S. litoralis and S. parasitica had 100% frequency of occurrence amongst the infected fishes. There were similarities in the species of fungi isolated from the infected fishes in the fish pond and those isolated from the hatchery. Of the infected fishes, Clarias lazera had the highest number of fungal isolates. It was followed by Tilapia zilli, then by Chanos chanos, Ethmalosa fimbriata and finally by Cyprinus carpio. The implications of the results obtained on the development of fish farming in Nigeria are discussed. 相似文献

This survey is concerned only with filamentous fungi living in the soil layer. The observed diversity of soil fungi largely
depends on the method used and the numbers of isolates obtained. Particle-plating usually yields higher numbers of taxa than
dilution plating. The Centraalbureau voor Schimmelcultures (CBS) preserves a great diversity of soil fungi. The CBS database
contained 2,210 species of soil fungi in 2001, an estimated 70% of the known species available in culture. Thus, the current
estimate for described culturable soil fungi is approximately 3,150 species, many of which have a cosmopolitan distribution.
Adding the ca. 150 spp. of nonculturable Glomerales results in 3,300 species of currently known soil fungi. Molecular studies in such groups as Fusarium, Trichoderma, Penicillium, and Aspergillus are finding a number of more narrowly distributed cryptic species. Thus the number of species of soil fungi is expected to

【背景】松树的内生真菌会影响红脂大小蠹及其伴生真菌的生长及扩散,从而影响红脂大小蠹的入侵。【目的】掌握赤峰地区红脂大小蠹寄主树种内生真菌的物种多样性,筛选对其伴生菌有拮抗作用的菌株,为红脂大小蠹的生物防治提供资源。【方法】采用组织分离法、形态学鉴定和internal transcribed spacer (ITS)序列分析相结合的方法对红脂大小蠹寄主树种油松、樟子松和潜在寄主落叶松进行内生真菌多样性研究,并用两点对峙法进行拮抗菌株筛选。【结果】松树内生真菌鉴定为2门6纲10目18科19属,其中落叶松韧皮部分离到的内生真菌数量最多,为39株,隶属于9属12种,真菌检出率为43.33%;油松次之,为30株,隶属于7属8种,真菌检出率为33.33%;樟子松最少,为29株,隶属于10属13种,真菌检出率为32.22%。3个树种的内生真菌相似性较低,无共有的菌种,青霉属(Penicillium)和篮状菌属(Talaromyces)是唯二的共有菌属,且青霉属在3个树种中均为优势菌属。平板对峙结果表明90%以上的树木内生真菌均能够与伴生真菌形成稳定的对峙,抑制率在50%-86%之间,且Phialocephala sp.和Pochonia bulbillosa对伴生菌的抑制率能高达93.7%。【结论】松树韧皮部的内生真菌具有较高的生防潜力,Phialocephala sp.和P. bulbillosa对红脂大小蠹伴生菌有较好的抑制效果,可作为红脂大小蠹的生防资源。 相似文献

Many yeast-like fungi assimilated n-hexadecane, butylamine and putrescine as sole carbon sources. Methanol was not assimilated. This points to a physiological similarity to endomycetous, hydrocarbon-utilizing yeasts. Stephanoascus ciferrii assimilated uric acid, adenine and allantoin as sole source of carbon and nitrogen. All strains of Geotrichum candidum and many other yeast-like fungi assimilated acetoin and butan-2,3-diol. Assimilation tests for adenine, uric acid, allantoin, acetoin and butan-2,3-diol were found to be suitable for taxonomic purposes.Extracellular antigens immunologically related to those produced by Geotrichum candidum were detected in the cell-free culture liquids of several yeast-like fungi. The extracellular antigen excreted by Stephanoascus ciferrii was species-specific. 相似文献

Summary The lignin-degrading fungiPhanerochaete chrysosporium, P. sordida, Trametes hirsuta, andCeriporiopsis subvermispora were evaluated for their ability to decrease the concentration of pentachlorophenol (PCP) and to cause dry weight loss in PCP-treated wood. Hardwood and softwood materials from PCP-treated ammunition boxes that were chipped to pass a 3.8-cm screen were used. All four fungi caused significant weight losses and decreases in the PCP concentration. The largest PCP decrease (84% in 4 weeks) was caused byT. hirsuta, and the smallest decrease was caused byC. subvermispora (37% in 4 weeks). After 4 weeks, the fate of spiked14C[PCP] in softwood chips inoculated withT. hirsuta was as follows: 27% was mineralized, 42.5% was non-extractable and bound to the chips, 23.5% was associated with fungal hyphae, and 6% was organic-extractable. Decreases of PCP byP. chrysosporium andP. sordida averaged 59% and 57%, respectively. PCP decreases caused byPhanerochaete spp. were not significantly affected by wood type or sterilization and were primarily due to methylation of PCP that resulted in accumulation of pentachloroanisole. Softwood weight losses caused byT. hirsuta, P. chrysosporium andC. subvermispora were respectively, 24, 6.5, and 17%, after 4 weeks. These weight losses are comparable to reported weight losses by these organisms in non-treated softwood. Nutrient supplementation significantly increased weight loss but not percentage decrease of PCP. The results of this research demonstrate the potential for using lignin-degrading fungi to destroy PCP-treated wood. 相似文献
