The Augmented Partial Diallel Cross (APDC) represents an intermediate position between the Complete Diallel Cross (CDC) and the Partial Diallel Cross (PDC) in which one or more primary lines are crossed with all the other lines but the lines of secondary interest form a PDC system. The method of sampling adopted for crosses of secondary lines is from arrangement of secondary lines on circumference of a circle. The mathematics for analysis of such APDC has been given systematically. The efficiency of estimates of general combining ability (g.c.a.) effects obtained from APDC has been compared with that of Pederson's estimator and CDC. It is observed that there are four types of variances for g.c.a. effects where as for comparing specific combining ability (s.c.a.) effects there are large number of variances indicating that the design is totally unbalanced for s.c.a. comparisons.  相似文献

The method of combining ability analysis of diallel crosses for Griffing method-3 for one and two missing observations has been presented. The formulae for estimating the parameters, the variances of different estimates and the sum of squares for various effects have been presented. The given analysis can easily be extended for the case of missing of more than two observations. The procedure of analysis has been illustrated through an example.  相似文献

In this paper the analysis of genotypes obtained in diallel crossing system, including parents, one set of F1s and reciprocal F1's, is given. This analysis is presented for data obtained from the experiments laid out in block designs. This study was conducted to determine the reciprocal effects for anther culture response in wheat (Triticum aestivum L.) using a set of 4 × 4 full diallel crosses. Both reciprocal and nuclear genetic effects were highly significant for anther culture response and useful for selection and breeding purposes. General combining ability (GCA) effects were predominant for all investigated anther culture traits. Also, significant differences for specific combining ability (SCA) effects were detected between reciprocal crosses. Although significant reciprocal differences for responding anther, callus number and green plant regeneration were recorded in some reciprocal crosses, there were no significant reciprocal differences for albino plant regeneration. The use of one parent as male or female could lead to change at the production of green plants from the F1 hybrids and screening of inbred lines for response to anther culture, without reciprocal effects, could decrease the utilization of breeding material.  相似文献

The inheritance of partial resistance within eight bean cultivars to a single-pustule isolate of bean rust was studied by means of a F1 diallel test. General combining ability (GCA) and specific combining ability (SCA) were very highly significant over two seasons and in interaction with seasons. The partitioning of the sums of squares indicated the greater importance of GCA in the inheritance of the resistance. Reciprocal effects were not significant. The estimates of narrow-sense heritability in the two seasons were 0.899 ± 0.056 and 0.603 ± 0.065.  相似文献

Summary Genetic variation in disease resistance to vascular-streak dieback (Vsd) was studied in 54 cocoa hybrid progenies from Trinitario x Amazonian crosses. The disease was assessed by the number of Vsd infected branches per tree, total length of infected branches, average depth of disease penetration within branches and percentages of infected and dead plants. Highly significant differences due to general combining ability for both Trinitario female parents and Amazonian male parents were obtained for all characters. Percent of dead plants was the only character where specific combining ability was also important. Gene effects were predominantly additive for most characters, indicating that selection for progenies resistant to Vsd is effective in the present breeding population. There is strong evidence that resistance to Vsd is in the form of horizontal resistance. It is polygenic and largely inherited as additive genes. Therefore, breeding for resistance is an effective means of controlling Vsd in Papua New Guinea.  相似文献

Summary Twenty-one progenies of smooth bromegrass (Bromus inermis Leyss.) from a 7 X 7 half diallel cross, with their parents, were evaluated for three years at four locations in Alberta for the genetic variation of stability in expression of their annual yield. The linear response and deviation from linear response for each genotype were the two stability parameters considered, together with mean performance in the evaluation of each genotype. Four high yielding genotypes, namely 12, 13, 16, and 26, had general adaptability, while genotype 23 was especially suited to a poor environment. Combining ability analysis showed that general combining ability (GCA) and specific combining ability (SCA) were both important in the expression of yield. Inheritance of linear regression was controlled predominantly by GCA whereas both GCA and SCA were equally important in the expression of deviation. The presence of a substantial proportion of variability due to the additive genetic component in the linear response suggests that it should be possible to exploit this fraction of variability in developing high yielding stable cultivars.  相似文献

Summary Quantitative inheritance of resistance to Phytophthora pod rot (Ppr) was studied in cocoa hybrid progeny from 12 Trinitario x Amazonian crosses and their reciprocal crosses. The crossing scheme was similar to a factorial design. Disease was assessed by the number and percentage of infected pods on each tree. Highly significant differences due to general combining abilities (GCA) were obtained for all characters, except for the GCA of Trinitario on total pod production. Differences for specific combining ability (SCA) were not significant for all characters. There were no significant differences between reciprocal crosses. The Trinitario clone K82 provided the only source for the hybrid progenies of strong Ppr resistance to the hybrid progenies, while K20 provided moderate resistance. Other parental clones — KA2-101, KA5-201, KEE 2, KEE 5, and KEE 52 — produced progenies which were susceptible to Ppr. It is evident that resistance to Ppr in cocoa is inherited additively. Maternal and cytoplasmic effects were assumed to have no influence on inheritance of resistance. It is also concluded that resistance to Ppr of the kind shown by K82 is likely to be horizontal resistance. Breeding for high-yielding cultivars combined with Ppr resistance is the most effective way of controlling Ppr of cocoa on the crops of growers with small holdings in Papua New Guinea.  相似文献

The combining abilities of field resistance to peanut bud necrosis disease (PBND) caused by Peanut bud necrosis tospovirus (PBNV) were examined to understand the type of gene action governing resistance to the disease, and to identify peanut lines suitable for use as parents in a PBND‐resistance breeding programme. The Ft and F2 progenies from a six‐parent diallel cross and their parents were evaluated under field conditions. They were assessed for disease incidence at 30, 40, 50 and 60 days after planting (DAP), and reactions of the lines to the disease could be best differentiated at 50 and 60 DAP. Results indicated highly significant general combining ability (GCA) effects for PBND incidence in F1 and F2 generations. Specific combining ability (SCA) and reciprocal effects were also found to be significant, but their relative contributions to variation among crosses were much less than those of GCA effects. These results suggested that the type of gene action governing resistance to PBND was mainly additive, and selection for PBND resistance in these populations should be effective. Strong correlation coefficients between parental means and GCA effects for disease incidence were seen in both Ft and F2 generations, suggesting that per se performance of the parental line could be used as a predictor of the capability of the line to transmit its PBND‐resistant attribute to progenies. The reciprocal effects were in favour of using resistant lines as female parents. The peanut lines ICGV 86388, 1C 10 and 1C 34 were found to be suitable for use in a PBND–resistance breeding programme.  相似文献

At present, the parents are included in the experimental material for judging the performance of crosses over parents and for calculation of heterosis but they are ignored for combining ability analysis of Partial Diallel Crosses due to the non-availability of the method of analysis for such designs. To satisfy the practical need of the breeders on one hand and to remove the statistical objections on the other hand, a method of analysis of Partial Diallel Crosses based on circulant sample including parents has been presented in this paper. Summary The present study was conducted in maize (Zea mays L.) on crosses among 20 diverse parents. The materials were evaluated in four different environments for eight characters. Combining ability analysis was carried out following diallel and partial diallel crosses. The number of crosses per parent (s) varied from 3 to 19 and the results were studied to identify the critical value of s that would provide an adequate information with minimum resources. The S5 partial diallel was as good as the S19 for the detection of differences among general combining ability (GCA) effects. Even the S3 gave adequate information in the case of characters with high heritability. However, partial diallel analysis was less efficient in detecting the differences due to specific combining ability (SCA) effects. These results varied with environments, and characters with low heritability were more prone to misinterpretation. GCA effects showed fluctuations in partial diallel analysis which were more pronounced in S5 and S3, particularly for characters with low heritability. The average standard error of difference between GCA effects increased with a decrease in s, with a steep slope for s < 7. The partial diallel analysis was more efficient for the estimation of the variance component of GCA than for SCA, as the estimate of SCA was biased upwards. Estimates of broad sense heritability obtained from the partial diallels agreed with the full diallel analysis better than the narrow sense estimates. Smaller partial diallels gave erratic estimates of heritability, particularly for the characters with low heritability.  相似文献

Summary Five Hawaiian commercial sugarcane (Saccharum sp. hybrids) clones were crossed in a full diallel. Four morphological characters were studied in the progeny: number of millable stalks per plant, stalk diameter, stalk length, and sucrose content. A fifth character, plant volume, was calculated from stalk number, stalk diameter and stalk length. The five selected parental clones were treated as fixed variables in the analysis. General combining ability (gca) was significant for all five characters; specific combining ability (sca) was significant for stalk diameter, stalk length, and plant volume. The variance for gca was large in all progeny populations. However, the variance for sca was large in the progeny of only some clones and/or for some individual characters. 以蓝桉 6× 6完全双列交配的子代测定林为试验材料 ,对树高、胸径、材积、枝下高、冠幅、弯曲度和枝径比 7个性状的遗传效应进行分析。结果表明 ,这些性状主要受一般配合力 (GCA)、特殊配合力 (SCA)和特殊正反交效应(SRE)的控制 ,母本效应 (FEM)对弯曲度有较小作用 ,而父本效应 (MAL)对所有性状影响甚微。有 3个亲本对改良数量性状或树干品质有显著的作用 ,有 8个组合对提高数量性状遗传增益的贡献极显著或显著。蓝桉的数量性状既有自交衰退 ,也有自交优势。对蓝桉育种的策略和方法也提出了建议  相似文献

Although cassava is a major food crop, its scientific breeding began only recently compared with other crops. Significant progress has been achieved, particularly in Asia where cassava is used mainly for industrial processes and no major biotic constraints affect its productivity. Cassava breeding faces several limitations that need to be addressed. The heterozygous nature of the crop and parental lines used to generate new segregating progenies makes it difficult to identify parents with good breeding values. Breeding so far has been mainly based on a mass phenotypic recurrent selection. There is very little knowledge on the inheritance of traits of agronomic relevance. Several approaches have been taken to overcome the constraints in the current methodologies for the genetic improvement of cassava. Evaluations at early stages of selection allow for estimates of general combining ability effect or breeding values of parental lines. Inbreeding by sequential self-pollination facilitates the identification of useful recessive traits, either already present in the Manihot gene pool or induced by mutagenesis.  相似文献

选用生产上常用的5个杂交水稻不育胞质与5个高配合力恢复系,采用NCII模式对产量性状、芒、粒形等主要农艺性状的亲本配合力、方差贡献率及遗传力进行分析。结果表明:胞质效应和恢复系效应在所测性状中均达到显著或极显著差异水平,芒长、粒形、单穗重受环境的影响较小;产量和收获指数的非加性遗传作用明显,受环境效应的影响也较大。亲本效应方面,恢复系的效应远大于胞质效应;产量性状JW型(爪哇型)胞质和蜀恢527的一般配合力效应较高,同时JW型胞质和R21属于Ⅰ类亲本;粒形性状G型(冈型)胞质和蜀恢527的一般配合力效应最高,同时均属于Ⅰ类亲本。  相似文献

Summary Plant root nutrient uptake efficiency may be expressed by the kinetic parameters, Vmax and Km, as well as by normal enzymatic reactions. These parameters are apparently useful indices of the level of adaptation of genotypes to the nutrient conditions in the soil. Moreover, sulfate uptake capacity has been considered a valuable index for selecting superior hybrid characterized by both high grain yield and efficiency in nutrient uptake. Therefore, the purpose of this research was to determine combining ability for sulfate uptake, in a diallel series of maize hybrids among five inbreds. Wide differences among the 20 single crosses were obtained for Vmax and Km. The general and specific combining ability mean squares were significant and important for each trait, indicating the presence of considerable amount of both additive and nonadditive gene effects in the control of sulfate uptake. In addition, maternal and nonmaternal components of F1 reciprocal variation showed sizeable effects on all the traits considered. A relatively high correlation was also detected between Vmax and Km. However, both traits displayed enough variation to suggest that simultaneous improvement of both Vmax and Km should be feasible. A further noteworthy finding in this study was the identification of one inbred line, which was the best overall parent for improving both affinity and velocity strategies of sulfate uptake.  相似文献

本文利用对生基因转育获得的对生与互生自交系及其杂交组合,研究了对生性状对产量性状杂种优势和配合力的遗传效应的影响。结果表明:对生玉米同互生玉米一样具有普遍的杂种优势,在产量性状上F1对生株优势互×互组合大于对×对组合和对×互(互×对)组合;对生性状的转育对产量性状的一般配合力有降低效应,而含有对生基因的互生玉米具有较高的一般配合力效应,因此,在对生玉米育种中可以利用含有不同对生基因的互生自交系作亲本来组配杂交组合(互×互),从而获得较高的制种产量和高产的对生杂交种。  相似文献
