In addition to the cholinergic innervation described in the sphincter of the efferent filament arteries (Bailly and Dunel-Erb, ′86), an aminergic component has been demonstrated by specific techniques. The Falck fluorescence technique reveals a network of nerve fibers displaying a green fluorescence characteristic of catecholamines. At the ultrastructural level two types of fibers are present, one with clear vesicles and another with densecored vesicles. Axo-axonal synaptic relationships exist between the two types. Results of 5- and 6-OHDA (hydroxydopamine) treatments confirm the presence of an aminergic component. These observations support the notion of a dual innervation: cholinergic and adrenergic of, respectively, parasympathetic and sympathetic origin. The presence of presynaptic modulation is suggested. The aminergic component could inhibit or reduce the release of acetylcholine from cholinergic nerve endings. These results suggest that the sympathetic innervation modulates the vasoconstriction effect of the parasympathetic component. 相似文献

Submandibular secretory and vascular responses to stimulation of the parasympathetic innervation and the output of vasoactive intestinal peptide (VIP) were investigated in anaesthetized sheep in the presence and absence of atropine (>/=0.5 mg/kg). In the absence of atropine, parasympathetic stimulation caused an increase in the flow of saliva and a decrease in submandibular vascular resistance; the latter response persisted after the administration of atropine and was then significantly reduced at the lowest but not at the higher frequencies tested. The output of VIP from the gland was frequency dependent over the range of 10-20 Hz (continuously) and significantly increased after atropine (P < 0.02). Furthermore, the fall in vascular resistance was linearly related to log VIP output after total muscarinic blockade. Intracarotid infusions of synthetic VIP produced dose-dependent falls in submandibular vascular resistance, together with a corresponding increase in submandibular blood flow. It is concluded that the atropine-resistant vasodilatation that occurs in this gland during parasympathetic stimulation is likely to be due largely, if not entirely, to the release of VIP. 相似文献

Summary The occurrence of neuropeptide Y (NPY), vasoactive intestinal polypeptide (VIP) and peptide histidine isoleucine (PHI) in the sympathetic and parasympathetic innervation of the nasal mucosa was studied in various species including man. A dense network of NPY-immunoreactive (IR) fibres was present around arteries and arterioles in the nasal mucosa of all species studied. NPY was also located in nerves around seromucous glands in pig and guinea-pig, but not in rat, cat and man. The NPY-IR glandular innervation corresponded to about 20% of the NPY content of the nasal mucosa as revealed by remaining NPY content determined by radioimmunoassay after sympathectomy. These periglandular NPY-positive fibres had a distribution similar to the VIP-IR and PHI-IR nerves but not to the noradrenergic markers tyrosine hydroxylase (TH) or dopamine--hydroxylase (DBH). The NPY nerves around glands and some perivascular fibres were not influenced by sympathectomy and probably originated in the sphenopalatine ganglion where NPY-IR and VIP-IR ganglion cells were present. The venous sinusoids were innervated by NPY-positive fibres in all species except the cat. Dense NPY and DBH-positive innervation was seen around thick-walled vessels in the pig nasal mucosa; the latter may represent arterio-venous shunts. Double-labelling experiments using TH and DBH, and surgical sympathectomy revealed that the majority of NPY-IR fibres around blood vessels were probably noradrenergic. The NPY-positive perivascular nerves that remained after sympathectomy in the pig nasal mucosa also contained VIP/PHI-IR. The major nasal blood vessels, i.e. sphenopalatine artery and vein, were also densely innervated by NPY-IR fibres of sympathetic origin. Perivascular VIP-IR fibres were present around small arteries, arterioles, venous sinusoids and arterio-venous shunt vessels of the nasal mucosa whereas major nasal vessels received only single VIP-positive nerves. The trigeminal ganglion of the species studied contained only single TH-IR or VIP-IR but no NPY-positive ganglion cells. It is concluded that NPY in the nasal mucosa is mainly present in perivascular nerves of sympathetic origin. In some species, such as pig, glandular and perivascular parasympathetic nerves, probably of VIP/PHI nature, also contain NPY. 相似文献

Two types of exocrine rosette glands (called type A and type B), located in the gill axes of the grass shrimp Palaemonetes pugio, are described. The type A glands are embedded within the longitudinal median septum of the gill axes, whereas the type B glands typically project into the efferent hemolymph channels of the gill axes. Although both glands have certain common characteristics (i.e., a variable number of radially arranged secretory cells, a central intercalary cell, and a canal cell that forms the cuticular ductule leading to the branchial surface), they differ in the following respects. The type B gland is innervated, but the type A gland is not; axonal processes, containing both granular (ca. 900–1300 Å) and agranular (ca. 450–640 Å) vesicles, occur at a juncture between adjacent secretory cells and the central cell of the type B gland. The secretory cells of type A and type B glands differ in their synthetic potential and membrane specializations. These differences are more pronounced in well-developed, mature glands, most frequently encountered in larger (24–28 mm, total length) grass shrimp, than in the underdeveloped, immature glands that are most abundant in smaller (14–18 mm, total length) grass shrimp. Thus, in mature glands, the secretory cells of the type A rosette glands are characterized by extensive RER, abundant Golgi, and numerous secretory granules, whereas the secretory cells of the type B gland are characterized by extensively infolded and interdigitated basal plasmalemmas and by the presence of numerous mitochondria. In general, both types of glands exhibit increased secretory activity soon after ecdysis. The central and canal cells in both glands seem to have a role in the modification of the secreted materials. The possible functions assigned to the type A gland and the type B gland include phenol-oxidase secretion and osmoregulation, respectively. 相似文献

Summary The CCs are the site of Cl– transport in teleosts in sea water. The gills of freshwater teleosts contain at least two types of mitochondria-rich cell, the type and the type (Pisam and Rambourg, 1991). During seawater acclimation, the cells vanish and the cells are transformed and proliferate, and accessory cells appear in addition. This gives rise to the question of the function of cells in fish living in fresh water.According to the studies reviewed here, although they deal only with extrabranchial epithelia, the majority of evidence indicates that CCs (or MRCs) function as sites of active Ca2+ transport in freshwater teleosts. Moreover, some experimental results suggest that CCs are the Cl– uptake site in freshwater teleosts. The main problem in characterizing the CC function is that they have not yet been adequately described from the biochemical standpoint. This applies particularly to their metabolic pattern and the composition of their apical and basolateral membranes, including their integrated proteins and cell-cell junctions.Experiments with organ tissue cultures such as gill organ cultures from Oncorhynchus mykiss (McCormick and Bern, 1989) and opercular membrane cultures from Oreochromis mossambicus (McCormick, 1990) will almost certainly yield important results. Primary cell cultures of CCs would be even better for characterizing CCs. Such a cell culture of rainbow trout respiratory cells has already been established (Pärt et al., 1993). 相似文献

X-cell tumours have been described previously from teleost fish of the Northern Hemisphere, in which they occurred as lesions of the skin, pseudobranchs or gills. The present study describes X-cell tumours from the gills of an Antarctic teleost, Pagothenia borchgrevinki , thus extending the range to the Antarctic and also the Southern Hemisphere. Gills of affected fish were distinctly swollen and white in appearance, indicating that the gills were not functional as gas exchange organs. The affected gill tissue contained large numbers of X-cells, large spherical cells with a distinct extracellular coat and many densely staining membrane-bound granules. The possible origin of the cells is discussed. 相似文献

Submandibular secretory responses to stimulation of the parasympathetic chorda-lingual nerve in anaesthetized cats have been investigated before, during, and after intracarotid infusion of endothelin-1 (ET-1), which reduced blood flow through the gland by 64+/-7%. Stimulation at different frequencies (2, 4, 8, and 16 Hz) evoked a frequency-dependent increase in the flow of submandibular saliva, sodium concentration and output, and output of both potassium and protein. The reduction in submandibular blood flow, which occurred in response to the infusion of ET-1, was associated with a decreased flow of saliva and a diminished output of both sodium and protein. The flow of saliva was linearly related to submandibular blood flow both in the presence and absence of ET-1. It is concluded that submandibular secretory responses to electrical stimulation of the parasympathetic innervation can be significantly attenuated by reducing the blood flow through the gland by ET-1 infusion, just as it is when the blood flow is reduced by hypotension. 相似文献

The activation of sodium-plus-potassium ion-dependent adenosine triphosphatase from marine teleost gills by univalent cations. 下载免费PDF全文
The apparent affinity constants for the binding of Cs+, Rb+, K+, Li+, Tl+ and NH4+ to (Na+ + K+)-dependent adenosine triphosphatase from teleost gills were measured and the values discussed in terms of the ion-selectivity isotherm described by Eisenman & Krasne (1975) [in MTP International Review of Science: Biochemistry Series One (Fox, C.F., ed.), vol. 2, pp. 27--59, Butterworths University Park Press, Baltimore]. The ion selectivity of the present enzyme is remarkably similar to that from nerve and brain. 相似文献

Osmotic water uptake was measured gravimetrically in isolated, ligated gill arches from trout (acclimated to and incubated at 5 degrees and 20 degrees C) and tilapia (21.5 degrees and 33 degrees C). For both species, incubation of arches at the higher temperature led to 1.5- to 3-fold greater measures of water weight gain. However, gills from warmer-acclimated trout and tilapia had 1- to >3-fold lower the initial rate and 1.5- to >2.5-fold lower the extent of water uptake seen in colder-acclimated conspecifics. Both the incubation temperature sensitivity and the acclimation effects are consistent with transmembrane water permeation. Calcium-free incubations (permitting paracellular water movement) also indicated that interfacial cell membranes contribute to gill permeability characteristics; without calcium, trout gill osmotic water uptake values increased 1.5- to 2-fold, and the temperature dependence of water uptake decreased (initial rate) or was eliminated (extent). The specific contribution of cholesterol to restricting barrier membrane water permeability was indicated by concentration-dependent increases in water uptake in the presence of either nystatin (a cholesterol-complexing, pore-forming agent) or methyl-beta-cyclodextrin (which selectively depletes membrane cholesterol). In addition, a cholesterol-specific cytochemical probe (filipin) intensely labeled the apical surface membranes of trout and tilapia gill epithelium. In summary, these studies implicate membrane cholesterol in determining water permeability in fish gills. 相似文献

Summary Innervation of the cirri in three teleost species (Hypsoblennius gilberti, Hypsoblennius gentilis, Oxylebius pictus) was investigated with the use of HRP- and cobalttracing techniques. All projections were found to be ipsilateral. Labeled cells were demonstrated in both portions of the trigeminal ganglion and in the facial ganglion. Cirrus nerve fibers running in the trigeminal nerve project to terminal fields in an isthmic sensory trigeminal nucleus, to areas adjacent to the descending trigeminal root in the brainstem, and to the medial funicular nucleus in the medulla. Distribution of labeled cells in the trigeminal ganglion complex suggests a functional distinction of the two ganglion portions. Cirrus nerve fibers belonging to the facial nerve terminate in a circumscribed part of of the facial lobe, indicating a somatotopic projection. Pathways were principally the same in all three species investigated. Findings of facial innervation of teleost cirri suggest a suspected gustatory function of teleost head appendages. 相似文献

Vertebrate hair cell systems receive innervation from efferent neurons in the brain. Here we report the responses of octavolateral
efferent neurons that innervate the inner ear and lateral lines in a teleost fish, Dormitator latifrons, to directional linear accelerations, and compare them with the afferent responses from the saccule, the main auditory organ
in the inner ear of this species. Efferent neurons responded to acoustic stimuli, but had significantly different response
properties than saccular afferents. The efferents produced uniform, omnidirectional responses with no phase-locking. Evoked
spike rates increased monotonically with stimulus intensity. Efferents were more broadly tuned and responsive to lower frequencies
than saccular afferents, and efferent modulation of the otolithic organs and lateral lines is likely more pronounced at lower
frequencies. The efferents had wide dynamic ranges, shallow rate-level function slopes, and low maximum discharge rates. These
findings support the role of the efferent innervation of the otolithic organs as part of a general arousal system that modulates
overall sensitivity of the peripheral octavolateral organs. In addition, efferent feedback may help unmask biologically relevant
directional stimuli, such as those emitted by a predator, prey, or conspecific, by reducing sensitivity of the auditory system
to omnidirectional ambient noise. 相似文献

The investigation has been performed by means of the luminescent microscopical method. The retrograde axonal transport of the fluorescent marker primuline has demonstrated that a definite amount of labelled cells are observed in the celiac plexus, in nodes of the thoracic part of the sympathetic trunk (predominantly in Th6-Th8). Innervation of the EGP sphincter is mainly performed from the sympathetic trunk nodes (Th6-Th8) and from the celiac plexus. 相似文献

Control of glucose balance in the perfused rat liver by the parasympathetic innervation 总被引:1,自引:0,他引:1
Electrical stimulation of the nerve bundles around the hepatic artery and the portal vein activates both the sympathetic and parasympathetic liver nerves; the sympathetic effects clearly predominate. Parasympathetic effects were therefore studied in the rat liver perfused in situ by perivascular nerve stimulation in the presence of both an alpha- and a beta-blocker. In the presence of the alpha-blocker phentolamine and the beta-blocker propranolol all sympathetic nerve effects were prevented; the remaining parasympathetic stimulation had no influence on the basal glucose and lactate metabolism nor on the hemodynamics. Insulin alone, with both alpha- and beta-blockade, provoked a small, parasympathetic nerve stimulation in the presence of insulin a more pronounced enhancement of glucose utilization. In the presence of an alpha- and beta-blocker perivascular nerve stimulation antagonized the glucagon stimulated glucose release, but did not affect lactate exchange. The nerve effect was abolished by the parasympathetic antagonist atropine. Acetylcholine or insulin, with both an alpha- and beta-blocker present, mimicked the effects of nerve stimulation antagonizing the glucagon-stimulated glucose release. Nerve stimulation in the presence of insulin was more effective than either stimulus alone. The present results show that in rat liver stimulation of the parasympathetic hepatic nerves has direct effects on glucose metabolism synergistic with insulin and antagonistic to glucagon. 相似文献

The relationship between the hair cell orientation pattern and innervation in the saccule and lagena of the teleost Helostoma temmincki (the kissing gourami) was investigated with scanning electron microscopy and the Winkelmann-Schmitt silver impregnation technique. The hair cell pattern in the saccule consists of four orthogonally oriented groups. The anterior two groups are oriented along the animal's rostrocaudal axis, and the posterior two are oriented along its dorsoventral axis. The pattern of hair cell orientations in the lagena is a typical bidirectional one. Two divisions of the eighth nerve innervate the saccule. The anterior division innervates the horizontally oriented hair cell groups, and the posterior division innervates the dorsoventrally oriented groups. A single nerve innervates the lagena, with the majority of fibers innervating one or the other of the two lagenar hair cell groups. The segregated pattern of innervation according to hair cell orientation groups in the saccule was confirmed in other species. Individual types of axonal terminations appear to innervate hair cells of specific ciliary bundle types. 相似文献

A new species of parasitic copepod, Lernanthropus corteziensis (Siphonostomatoida: Lernanthropidae), is described and illustrated. The copepod has been found in the Sea of Cortez (Bahia de la Paz) on the gills of Diapterus peruvianus, a teleost fish known in the local vernacular as mojarra. 相似文献

The adrenergic innervation of structures in the gills of brown and rainbow trout was studied with catecholamine fluorescence histochemistry. In the arterio-arterial vascular pathway, there was an innervation of the afferent and efferent lamellar arterioles, but the afferent and efferent filamental arteries and the secondary lamellae were devoid of any fluorescent nerve fibres. In S. trutta only, there was an additional innervation of the afferent and efferent branchial arteries and the base of the efferent filamental artery. The innervation of the arterio-venous vascular pathway was similar in both trout species. Many fluorescent nerve fibres were found on nutritive arterioles in the gill arch and interbranchial septum, and in the core of each filament between the surface epithelium and the wall of the filament venous sinus. No fluorescent nerve fibres were observed at the origins of the capillaries arising from the efferent filamental artery. The sympathetic nerve supply is provided to the gills mainly through the posttrematic nerve, with an occasional small contribution through the pretrematic nerve. The presence of adrenergic nerves in the gills is discussed in relation to the regulation of blood flow through the arterio-arterial and arterio-venous pathways. 相似文献
