Nutrient uptake and translocation by above-ground adventitious roots and below-ground roots of woodySalix syringiana saplings were studied with gamma spectrometry. Each of four radionuclides (75Se,138Cs,54Mn, and65Zn) administered to adventitious and belowground roots were detected in stems and leaves within one month. Nuclides tended to be immobilized in the leaves and branches closest to the adventitious roots that absorbed them, while nuclides absorbed from below-ground sources were distributed more evenly throughout the plant. The capacity of adventitious roots to acquire nutrients from above-ground sources suggests they function as a potential auxiliary pathway of nutrient uptake and might enhance plant nutrient status where below-ground root uptake it hindered by adverse soil conditions.  相似文献

Vines have different climbing strategies; one type, called clinging vines, has developed a specialized structure, the adhesive pad that secretes a sticky substance that adheres to almost any substrate. In this study on the climbing fig, Ficus pumila L., we report on the developmental anatomy of clusters of adventitious roots that become transformed into this unique structure. Clustered adventitious roots in F. pumila are initiated in pairs on either side of a vascular bundle at the 2nd to 3rd internodes of young stems. After emergence through the cortex and epidermis, root hairs form, which secrete a substance that stains positively for polysaccharide and protein. The adventitious roots and root hairs stick together forming the adhesive pad. Pads stick to almost any substrate. If the adventitious roots do not touch a substrate they usually dry up, if they touch moist soil they tend to branch and change to a terrestrial form. We discuss experiments on the shoot developmental behavior leading to adhesive pad formation and the possible roles of auxin.  相似文献

Summary Flooding of soil with standing water for 50 or 110 days drastically reduced growth of 178-day-oldPlatanus occidentalis seedlings, with growth inhibited more as the duration of flooding was increased. Flooding reduced the rate of height and diameter growth, leaf initiation and expansion, and dry weight increment and relative growth rates of leaves, stems, and roots. Flooding also induced leaf epinasty, leaf necrosis, and formation of hypertrophied lenticels and many adventitious roots on submerged portions of stems. Severing of adventitious roots after 50 and 95 days from the submerged portions of stems of continuously flooded seedlings reduced several growth parameters including height and stem diameter growth and relative growth rates of leaves and roots. Enzyme changes in non-rooted (treated with Fe-EDTA) and rooted (treated with Fe-EDDHA) stems of rootstock GF-677 (Prunus amygdalus×P. persica) during adventitious root formation in vitro have been recorded. The first roots appeared approximately after 12 d on the rooting medium. By contrast to non-rooted stems, rooted stems showed a maximum of soluble peroxidase activity on the 9th day, of ionically bound peroxidase to cell wall on the 6th and 12th day and of catalase on the 6th and the 15th day. A time course study of changes of soluble peroxidases isoenzymes showed that there was a band visible only in the rooted stems and also a new band appeared three days before the emergence of roots.  相似文献

We show the potential of a new method combining tree-ring analyses on stems and on coarse roots of individual trees in order to advance the understanding of growth dynamics in forest trees. To this end, we studied the root–shoot allometry of trees and its dependence on site conditions. Along a gradient in water supply in Southern Germany from dry to moist sites we selected 43 Norway spruce trees (Picea abies [L.] H. Karst.) aged 65–100 years. Increment cores were taken from stem and main roots revealing aboveground and belowground growth course over the last 34 years. Annual growth rates in roots and stems and their allometric relationships were applied as surrogate variables for tree resource allocation to aboveground and belowground organs. The mean sensitivities of both stem and root chronologies were found to be site-specific, and increased from the moist through the dry sites. No temporal offset between aboveground and belowground growth reactions to climate conditions was found in Norway spruce at any of the sites. These results suggest that the root–shoot allometry depends on the specific site conditions only at the driest site, following the optimal biomass partitioning theory (the more restricted the water supply, the more organic matter allocation into the belowground organs).  相似文献

In previous investigations, natural layering of Japanese stone pine (Pinus pumila) was suggested by the occurrence of adventitious roots. However, there is no genetic evidence so far that this species actually produces offspring by natural layering. We, therefore, investigated clonal structure and spatial genetic structure within a 38×18 m plot on Mt. Aino-dake, using allozyme, random amplified polymorphic DNA (RAPD), and inter-simple sequence repeat (ISSR) analyses. We found 24 genets, with stems found to be genetically identical in multiple tests, which extended later-ally against the direction of the slope, indicating that there were clonal structures originating from elongation of ramified stems and subsequent natural layering. The results suggest, however, that less than one third of the 200 stems analyzed from this site were clonaly propagated. We also analyzed spatial genetic structure by spatial autocorrelation. Many of the spatial autocorrelation coefficients were significantly positive in short distance classes. We concluded that the species has genetic structures which largely originate from clonal propagation and avian seed dispersal.  相似文献

Summary Horseradish (Armoracia rusticana) hairy root clones were established from hairy roots which were transformed with the Ri plasmid in Agrobacterium rhizogenes 15834. The transformed plants, which were regenerated from hairy root clones, had thicker roots with extensive lateral branches and thicker stems, and grew faster compared with non-transformed horseradish plants. Small sections of leaves of the transformed plants generated adventitious roots in phytohormone-free G (modified Gamborg's) medium. Root proliferation was followed by adventitious shoot formation and plant regeneration. Approximately twenty plants were regenerated per square centimeter of leaf. The transformed plants were easily transferable from sterile conditions to soil. When leaf segments of the transformed plants were cultured in a liquid fertilizer under non-sterile conditions, adventitious roots were generated at the cut ends of the leaves. Adventitious shoots were generated at the boundary between the leaf and the adventitious roots and developed into complete plants. This novel life cycle arising from leaf segments is a unique property of the transformed plants derived from hairy root clones.  相似文献

采用室内生测法研究了雷公藤愈伤组织、悬浮细胞、不定根等组培产物对小菜蛾毒杀、生长发育影响以及不定根提取物对番茄灰霉病等植物病原真菌菌丝生长抑制作用,以明确雷公藤组培产物的生物活性及其应用前景。结果表明,不同雷公藤组培产物对小菜蛾3龄幼虫都具有明显的毒杀作用,悬浮细胞以及不定根的LC50均超过了根皮粉的效果,其中的不定根提取物对小菜蛾3龄幼虫毒杀作用的LC50为根皮粉的1.95倍;不同组培产物提取物对小菜蛾幼虫的生长均有明显的抑制作用,其中不定根提取物处理后每天的小菜蛾体重显著下降,72h后70%左右已经死亡,存活的试虫体重比试验前下降了18.33%;雷公藤不定根提取物对供试的11种植物病原真菌菌丝生长均有一定的抑制作用,有5种的抑制率超过60%,并对番茄灰霉病菌的抑制作用最强,其EC50为10.074mg/mL,且不定根的抑制效果均超过了根皮粉的抑制效果。  相似文献

为了提高西洋参不定根的诱导率和生长速度,该研究以西洋参鲜根为外植体,在基本培养基的基础上优化IBA、碳源、氮源和磷源等营养成分。结果表明:西洋参不定根诱导过程可以明显分为外植体脱分化(愈伤化)、再分化(根形成)和根伸长等三个阶段; MS基本培养基更有利于西洋参不定根的诱导,可能与MS培养基中矿质元素含量高有关;当培养基中IBA浓度达到2 mg·L~(-1)时,外植体表面上不定根分布密度大,诱导率达到(96±3.5)%;培养基中添加蔗糖到30 g·L~(-1)时,不定根的诱导效果最好,但继续提高浓度后不定根变短、直径变粗;培养基中NO_3~-∶NH_4~+和PO_4~(3-)浓度分别为20∶10(总氮量30 mmol·L~(-1))和25.0mmol·L~(-1)时,西洋参不定根诱导率达到最大。结果提示优化培养条件可以显著改善西洋参不定根的诱导和生长,为后续西洋参不定根规模化培养提供理论支持。  相似文献

The effects of waterlogging and salinity on morphological and physiological responses in the marsh grass Sporobolus virginicus (L.) Kunth were investigated in a 4×2 factorial experiment. Plants were subjected to four salinity levels (0, 100, 200 and 400 mol m–3 NaCl) and two soil inundation conditions (drained and flooded) for 42 days. Flooding at 0 mol m–3 NaCl caused initiation of adventitious surface roots, increased internal acration and plant height, induced alcohol dehydrogenase activity (ADH), and decreased belowground biomass and the number of culms per plant. Salinity increase from 0 to 400 mol m–3 NaCl under drained conditions increased leaf and root proline concentrations and decreased photosynthesis, aboveground biomass, number of culms per plant and number of internodes per culm. Concurrent waterlogging and salinity induced ADH activity and adventitious surface roots but decreased plant height and aboveground biomass. Internal air space increased with waterlogging from 0 to 100 mol m–3 NaCl but further increases in salinity to 400 mol m–3 reduced air space. Combined waterlogging and salinity stresses, however, had no effect on photosynthesis or on the concentrations of proline in leaves or roots. These results are discussed in relation to the widespread colonization by S. virginicus of a wide range of coastal environments varying in soil salinity and in the frequency and intensity of waterlogging.  相似文献

紫茉莉(Mirabilis jalapa)观赏价值较高,是一种重要的污染修复植物.组织培养技术为植物品种改良和选育的重要途径,但紫茉莉离体快繁方面的研究尚未见有相关报道.该研究以紫茉莉叶片和茎段为外植体,通过观察和统计外植体愈伤组织和不定芽的诱导情况,分析不同植物生长物质对紫茉莉植株再生的影响.结果表明:紫茉莉带芽茎段比较适合丛生芽的诱导,当带芽茎段在MS+1.0 mg·L-16-BA+1.5 mg·L-1 KT+1.0 mg·L-1 NAA+0.05 mg·L-1 TDZ培养基中培养时,不定芽的增殖系数较高.无论是MS或1/2MS培养基,都可诱导不定根的产生,其中生根效果较好的培养基为1/2 MS+0.5 mg·L-1 NAA.该研究结果探索了紫茉莉组织培养的最适条件,根据愈伤组织诱导率和不定芽的增殖系数筛选出了适宜不定芽诱导的培养基类型,根据不定芽生根情况确定了最佳的生根诱导培养基,为建立紫茉莉高效稳定的再生和遗传转化体系奠定了基础.  相似文献

研究不同生态环境条件下胡杨和灰叶胡杨横走侧根的空间分布及其形态特征、不定芽及克隆分株的数量格局特征及其与土壤水分的关系。研究结果表明:(1)16团3个生境中灰叶胡杨克隆分株所在横走侧根均分布在10—20cm的土层;阿瓦提混交林内灰叶胡杨和胡杨克隆分株所在横走侧根分布在20—40cm的土层;轮台县河道边胡杨克隆分株所在横走侧根分布在10—20cm的土层,林内胡杨克隆分株所在横走侧根分布在20—40cm的土层。不定芽、克隆分株所在部位横走侧根最粗,向两端逐渐变细,且远端根始终比近端根要粗;(2)不定芽具有以前期克隆分株为中心向两端延伸发生分布的空间格局特征,横走侧根上不定芽数与出土克隆分株数呈极显著正相关,未出土克隆分株数与出土克隆分株数呈显著正相关,说明不定芽、未出土克隆分株的数量都直接影响出土克隆分株的数量。(3)不定芽、未出土克隆分株和出土克隆分株出现频率、空间分布范围在同一生境同一根段均表现为不定芽未出土克隆分株出土克隆分株,在不同研究区表现为16团(地下水位1.08m)轮台县(地下水位2.56m)阿瓦提县(地下水位3.34m);相关分析显示土壤水分含量与不定芽和出土克隆分株数量均呈极显著正相关。综合分析认为,地下水位和土壤含水量均对不定芽发生以及不定芽向克隆分株转化有显著的影响。  相似文献

Summary Flooding ofPlatanus occidentalis L. seedlings for up to 40 days induced several changes including early stomatal closure, greatly accelerated ethylene production by stems, formation of hypertrophied lenticels and adventitious roots on submerged portions of stems, and marked growth inhibition. Poor adaptation ofPlatanus occidentalis seedlings to soil inundation was shown in stomatal closure during the entire flooding period, inhibition of root elongation and branching, and death of roots. Some adaptation to flooding was indicated by (1) production of hypertrophied lenticels which may assist in exchange of dissolved gases in flood water and in release of toxic compounds, and (2) production of adventitious roots on stems which may increase absorption of water. These adaptations appeared to be associated with greatly stimulated ethylene production in stems of flooded plants. The greater reduction of root growth over shoot growth in flooded seedlings will result in decreased drought tolerance after the flood waters recede. The generally low tolerance to flooding of seedlings of species that are widely rated as highly flood tolerant is emphasized.  相似文献

The effects of inoculum density, aeration volume and culture period on accumulation of biomass and secondary metabolites in adventitious roots of Hypericum perforatum in balloon type airlift bioreactors (3 l capacity) were investigated. The greatest increment of biomass as well as metabolite content occurred at an inoculum density of 3 g l−1 and an aeration volume of 0.1 vvm. After 6 weeks of culture, an approximately 50-fold increase in biomass was recorded containing 60.11 mg g−1 dry weight (DW) of phenolics, 42.7 mg g−1 DW of flavonoids and 0.80 mg g−1 DW of chlorogenic acid. Liquid chromatography–mass spectroscopy/mass spectroscopy demonstrated that the presence of quercetin and hyperoside in adventitious roots at a level of 1.33 and 14.01 μg g−1 DW, respectively after 6 weeks of culture. The results suggest scale-up of adventitious root culture of H. perforatum for the production of chlorogenic acid, quercetin and hyperoside is feasible.  相似文献

Adventitious roots from leafstalks and lateral roots were obtained directly from explants of Panax notoginseng. The lateral root explants were more sensitive to the induction of adventitious roots using indole-3-butyric acid. HPLC analysis of saponins extracted from the adventitious roots indicated that several protopanaxatriol saponins were present but ginsenoside Rd was missing, compared with the saponins extracted from the raw herbs. The dry weight of primary adventitious root culture of Panax notoginseng increased 5.25 times during multiplication in a classical shaking-flask system, suggesting that it is a culture system with great potential for scale-up. We investigated the responses of seven woody Hakea (Proteaceae) species (two populations of each), to two months of waterlogging and subsequent drainage, in a controlled glasshouse experiment. The species originated from contrasting environments (winter-wetland versus non-wetland habitats), and differed in abundance (endangered ironstone species versus common species). Waterlogging arrested growth of the main root system, and stimulated the formation of superficial adventitious roots just below the root/shoot junction in all species. Wetland species produced at least twice the amount of adventitious root dry mass of that of non-wetland species, due to differences in number, length or degree of branching. Their adventitious roots also tended to have higher porosities (7–10% versus 5–6% gas spaces). The relative amount of adventitious roots formed was strongly, positively correlated with the maintenance of shoot growth, and only the non-wetland species showed significant shoot growth reductions (19%) upon waterlogging. Dry mass percentage of stems and leaves, and leaf dry mass per area (LMA) increased considerably during waterlogging in all species (averages of 15, 29 and 27%, respectively), returning to the values of continuously drained control plants after drainage. Similarly, upon drainage, a suppression of shoot growth (average 35%) and a stimulation of root growth (average 50%) restored the root mass ratios to those of control plants. We found a negative correlation between the maintenance of growth during waterlogging versus that after waterlogging, suggesting a trade-off in functioning of the superficial adventitious roots between waterlogged and drained conditions. The rare winter-wet ironstone endemics resembled the common winter-wet species in most of their responses to waterlogging and drainage. Therefore, the results presented here cannot offer an explanation for their different distribution patterns. Our results suggest that non-wetland species may be disadvantaged in a wetland environment, due to their lower capacity to form adventitious roots resulting in stronger growth reductions.  相似文献

We investigated the spatial distribution and growth of the Siberian dwarf pine (Pinus pumila) in a valley–foothill larch–birch (Larix cajanderi–Betula platyphylla as canopy trees) mixed forest of fire origin located in central Kamchatka with the aim of elucidating the ecological features of P. pumila when it is an undergrowth species in a forest. The spatial distribution of all individuals of all tree species was clumped, and the spatial distribution of the two canopy tree species did not repulsively affect that of P. pumila (i.e., its establishment site). These results suggest that the regeneration of P. pumila does not depend on canopy gaps. However, the analysis using a growth model indicated that the canopy trees negatively affected the growth of P. pumila and that the negative effect of L. cajanderi on P. pumila growth was stronger than that of B. platyphylla. The direction of the crown extension of P. pumila was weakly related to the open-space direction. Our results suggest that, although the spatial pattern of establishment of P. pumila is not repulsed by the distribution of canopy trees, the crown can spread horizontally toward the more sparsely populated areas of the canopy trees where they may have higher growth rates.  相似文献

As competition from lianas reduces fitness of host trees, lianas could influence community composition and structure if potential host species differ in susceptibility to infestation. We quantified infestation frequencies of Chilean temperate rainforest tree species by the massive liana Hydrangea serratifolia (H. et A.) F. Phil (Hydrangeaceae), which climbs using adhesive adventitious roots, and examined relationships with host light requirements and stem diameter. We recorded presence or absence of H. serratifolia in a random sample of 515 trees ≥10 cm diameter. Fifty‐four per cent of trees were infested by at least one individual of H. serratifolia. Although there was significant interspecific variation in infestation frequency, this variation was not systematically related to light requirements of host tree species. Probability of infestation increased with diameter for most host tree species, and old trees were found to be infested by a wide range of liana size classes, including some stems <2 cm diameter. This evidence supports the proposal that lianas which attach by adhesive roots can colonize host stems of any size.  相似文献

We surveyed the morphological responses of tree species buried by alluvial deposits, and measured the physicochemical properties of alluvial materials which buried each of the individual trees, on Senjogahara moor, Nikko National Park, Japan. The results showed that these species had a different capcity to form adventitious roots.Malus toringo Sieb. individuals, which had survived in spite of heavy deposits over the past 10 years, developed many adventitious roots from the buried parts of their trunks. However,Larix kaempferi Carr. andBetula platyphylla Sukatchev var.japonica Hara, which both died in heavy deposit areas, were inferior toM. toringo in the formation of adventitious roots. From these facts, we presumed that the ability to develop adventitious roots contributed to the survival of trees and resulted in the difference in burial tolerance among each species. Adventitious roots tended to form in the depositional layers which consisted of fine particle size materials. It is thought that these layers prevent gas exchange between soil and air, causing a lack of oxygen to the rhizosphere. Thus, we concluded that adventitious roots have a physiological importance in reducing the obstruction, and in the survival of buried trees.  相似文献
