This paper describes a continuing effort to define the location and mode of action of morphogenetic determinants which direct the development of dorsal body axis structures in embryos of the frog Xenopus laevis. Earlier results demonstrated that presumptive endodermal cells in one vegetal quadrant of the 64-cell embryo can, under certain experimental conditions, induce partial or complete body axis formation by progeny of adjacent equatorial cells. (R.L. Gimlich and J.C. Gerhart, 1984, Dev. Biol. 104, 117-130). I have now assessed the importance of other blastomeres for embryonic axis formation in a series of transplantation experiments using cells from the equatorial level of the 32-cell embryo. The transplant recipients were embryos which had been irradiated with ultraviolet light before first cleavage. Without transplantation, embryos failed to develop the dorsal structures of the embryonic body axis. However, cells of these recipients were competent to respond to inductive signals from transplanted tissue and to participate in normal embryogenesis. Dorsal equatorial cells, but not their lateral or ventral counterparts, often caused partial or complete body axis development in irradiated recipients, and themselves formed much of the notochord and some prechordal and somitic mesoderm. These are the same structures that they would have formed in the normal donor. Thus, the dorsal equatorial blastomeres were often at least partially autonomous in developing according to their prospective fates. In addition, they induced progeny of neighboring host cells to contribute to the axial mesoderm and to form most of the central nervous system. The frequency with which such transplants caused complete axis formation in irradiated hosts increased when they were made at later and later cleavage stages. In contrast, the inductive activity of vegetal cells remained the same or declined during the cleavage period. These and other results suggest that the egg cytoplasmic region containing "axial determinants" is distributed to both endodermal and mesodermal precursors in the dorsal-most quadrant of the early blastula.  相似文献

For testing the autonomic differentiation abilities of dorsal equatorial blastomeres of 32-cell Xenopus embryos, their roles in head formation in normal development and the organizer-inducing capabilities of the dorsal-most vegetal cells, interspecific transplantations were made using Xenopus borealis and X. laevis . When transplanted into the ventral region, the dorsal blastomeres produced descendants that differentiated into prechordal mesoderm, notochord and somites in the recipient according to their fates. They induced formation of the secondary embryo with the head and tail. The prechordal mesoderm and notochord in the secondary structure consisted of progeny of the graft, whereas somites and the CNS were chimeric and the pronephros was composed of host cells. Replacement of the dorsal blastomeres by ventral equatorial cells caused complete arrest of head formation in the recipient. Without exception, the notochord was completely absent or very thin. These results confirm the assumption that the presumptive head organizer in the Xenopus embryo is localized in the dorsal equatorial region at the 32-cell stage and comes into existence not under the inductive influence of the dorsal-most vegetal cells, but owing to allocation of morphogenetic determinants residing in the fertilized egg to the dorsal equatorial blastomeres of the 32-cell embryo.  相似文献

Early cellular interactions promote embryonic axis formation in Xenopus laevis   总被引:12,自引:0,他引:12
We have attempted to define the location and mode of action of axial determinants in the egg of Xenopus laevis. To this end, we transplanted small numbers of blastomeres from normal 64-cell stage embryos into synchronous recipient embryos which had been irradiated with ultraviolet light prior to first cleavage. Without transplantation, such embryos fail to develop dorsal structures of the embryonic body axis. We found that one to three blastomeres transplanted from the vegetal-most octet of cells can effect complete or partial rescue of of axis development in a recipient, provided that the donor cells derive from the quadrant just under the prospective dorsal marginal region. These same cells, when transplanted into the ventral vegetal quadrant of a normal 64-cell embryo, cause the formation of a complete second body axis. In contrast, other cells from the vegetal octet of normal donors fail to cause axis formation. When the rescuing donor cells are labeled with a lineage-restricted fluorescent marker, we find that their progeny do not contribute to the axial structures of the recipient. Progeny of the transplanted cells are found below the level of the blastopore in the early gastrula and eventually give rise to portions of the gut, as is their fate in normal development. These results, in agreement with those of Nieuwkoop (P.D. Nieuwkoop, 1977, Curr. Top. Dev. Biol. 11, 115-132), imply that the dorsal-most vegetal cells of the 64-cell embryo receive from the egg cytoplasm a set of determinants enabling them to induce neighboring cells to undertake axis formation. We discuss the relationship between axis induction in rescued irradiated embryos and axis determining processes in normal embryogenesis.  相似文献

Primitive blood constitutes the ventralmost mesoderm in amphibians, and its cleavage-stage origin reveals important clues about the orientation of the dorsal/ventral axis in the embryo. In recent years, investigators employing various lineage-labeling strategies have reported disparate results for the origin of primitive blood in Xenopus [W. D. Tracey, Jr., M. E. Pepling, G. H. Thomsen, and J. P. Gergen (1998). Development 125, 1371-1380; M. C. Lane W. C. Smith (1999). Development 126, 423-434; K. R. Mills, D. Kruep, and M. S. Saha (1999). Dev. Biol. 209, 352-368; A. Ciau-Uitz, M. Walmsley, and R. Patient (2000). Cell 102, 787-796]. These discrepancies must be resolved in order to elucidate early embryonic patterning mechanisms in vivo. We directly compared two of the techniques used to determine the origin of the ventral blood islands and primitive blood, injection of either beta-galactosidase mRNA or conjugated dextrans, by coinjecting both tracers simultaneously into individual blastomeres in cleavage-stage embryos. We find that dextrans label progeny efficiently, while beta-galactosidase activity is not present in many of the progeny of an injected blastomere, suggesting that mRNA fails to diffuse throughout a blastomere. This result demonstrates that beta-galactosidase mRNA fails to meet the criterion for a true lineage label, namely efficient detection of the progeny of a blastomere, and raises questions about interpretations based on mapping the ventral blood islands using Lac Z mRNA as a tracer. We examined the origins of the ventral blood islands and primitive blood from the vegetal region of the marginal zone in regularly cleaving embryos by coinjecting both reporters into C-tier blastomeres. Our results demonstrate that both the ventral blood islands and primitive blood routinely arise from all C-tier blastomeres. Our data, in combination with published mapping results for the dorsal aorta, demonstrate that primitive and definitive blood do not have separate origins at the 32-cell stage in Xenopus. In addition, these results support a proposal to align the dorsal/ventral axis of the mesendoderm with the animal/vegetal axis in pregastrula Xenopus.  相似文献

The Location of Dorsal Information in Frog Early Development   总被引:4,自引:4,他引:0
Dorsal information is necessary for the development of the dorsal axial structures which characterize the vertebrates. The nature of dorsal information in early embryos is not known, but its presence is required for the formation of dorsal mesoderm with Spermann organizer activity. In frogs, the dorsoventral axis is specified by a cortical/cytoplasmic rotation in the egg shortly after fertilization, and this dorsal information is limited to a few cells in the equatorial and vegetal region of early cleavage embryos. At the 8-cell stage, 2–4 cells can promote dorsal development, and at the 32-cell stage, 4–6 cells have dorsal information. Recent experiments have shown that growth factors can induce cells to form dorsal mesoderm and that lithium can act in those cells to enhance the induction. It will be important to determine the relationship between the location of dorsal information defined embryologically and factors involved in the development of dorsal mesoderm.  相似文献

Regional specification within the mesoderm of early embryos of Xenopus laevis   总被引:22,自引:0,他引:22
We have further analysed the roles of mesoderm induction and dorsalization in the formation of a regionally specified mesoderm in early embryos of Xenopus laevis. First, we have examined the regional specificity of mesoderm induction by isolating single blastomeres from the vegetalmost tier of the 32-cell embryo and combining each with a lineage-labelled (FDA) animal blastomere tier. Whereas dorsovegetal (D1) blastomeres induce 'dorsal-type' mesoderm (notochord and muscle), laterovegetal and ventrovegetal blastomeres (D2-4) induce either 'intermediate-type' (muscle, mesothelium, mesenchyme and blood) or 'ventral-type' (mesothelium, mesenchyme and blood) mesoderm. No significant difference in inductive specificity between blastomeres D2, 3 and 4 could be detected. We also show that laterovegetal and ventrovegetal blastomeres from early cleavage stages can have a dorsal inductive potency partially activated by operative procedures, resulting in the induction of intermediate-type mesoderm. Second, we have determined the state of specification of ventral blastomeres by isolating and culturing them in vitro between the 4-cell stage and the early gastrula stage. The majority of isolates from the ventral half of the embryo gave extreme ventral types of differentiation at all stages tested. Although a minority of cases formed intermediate-type and dorsal-type mesoderms we believe these to result from either errors in our assessment of the prospective DV axis or from an enhancement, provoked by microsurgery, of some dorsal inductive specificity. The results of induction and isolation experiments suggest that only two states of specification exist in the mesoderm of the pregastrula embryo, a dorsal type and a ventral type. Finally we have made a comprehensive series of combinations between different regions of the marginal zone using FDA to distinguish the components. We show that, in combination with dorsal-type mesoderm, ventral-type mesoderm becomes dorsalized to the level of intermediate-type mesoderm. Dorsal-type mesoderm is not ventralized in these combinations. Dorsalizing activity is confined to a restricted sector of the dorsal marginal zone, it is wider than the prospective notochord and seems to be graded from a high point at the dorsal midline. The results of these experiments strengthen the case for the three-signal model proposed previously, i.e. dorsal and ventral mesoderm inductions followed by dorsalization, as the simplest explanation capable of accounting for regional specification within the mesoderm of early Xenopus embryos.  相似文献

XHNF1(&bgr;) is a homeobox-containing gene initially expressed at the blastula stage in the vegetal part of the Xenopus embryo. We investigated its early role by functional ablation, through mRNA injection of an XHNF1(beta)/engrailed repressor fusion construct (XHNF1(beta)/EngR). Dorsal injections of XHNF1(beta)/EngR mRNA abolish dorsal mesoderm formation, leading to axial deficiencies; ventral injections disrupt ventral mesoderm formation without affecting axial development. XHNF1(beta)/EngR phenotypic effects specifically depend on the DNA-binding activity of its homeodomain and are fully rescued by coinjection of XHNF1(beta) mRNA. Vegetal injection of XHNF1(beta)/EngR mRNA blocks the mesoderm-inducing ability of vegetal explants. Both B-Vg1 and VegT maternal determinants trigger XHNF1(beta) expression in animal caps. XHNF1(beta)/EngR mRNA blocks B-Vg1-mediated, but not by eFGF-mediated, mesoderm induction in animals caps. However, wild-type XHNF1(beta) mRNA does not trigger Xbra expression in animal caps. We conclude that XHNF1(beta) function is essential, though not sufficient, for mesoderm induction in the Xenopus embryo.  相似文献

Cells in the dorsal marginal zone of the amphibian embryo acquire the potential for mesoderm formation during the first few hours following fertilization. An examination of those early cell interactions may therefore provide insight on the mechanisms important for organization of axial structures. The formation of mesoderm (notochord, somites, and pronephros) was studied by combining blastomeres from the animal pole region of Xenopus embryos (32- to 512-cell stages) with blastomeres from different regions of the vegetal hemisphere. The frequency of notochord and somite development was similar in combinations made with dorsal or ventral blastomeres, or with both. Our results show that during early cleavage stages the ventral half of the vegetal hemisphere has the potential to organize axial structures, a property previously believed to be limited to the dorsal region.  相似文献

To examine the spatial distribution of dorsal determinants in the early embryos of Xenopus laevis, individual cells from the 32-cell embryo were transplanted into the same tier of the ventral side of a synchronous recipient. Their abilities to initiate a secondary embryo were measured by the incidence of secondary embryos and by the length of the secondary axis relative to the primary embryo. The ability was found to be localized in all cells (A1, B1, C1, and D1) of the dorsal most column and in the vegetal cells (C2 and D2) of the dorsolateral column. Transplanted C1 (subequatorial) cells caused the highest incidence of a secondary embryo and the average relative length of the secondary embryo was also greatest. Effectiveness decreased in the order: D1, B1, D2, C2, and A1. When these results were compared with Dale and Slack's fate map of the 32-cell embryo, it was concluded that the distribution of dorsal determinants is unique and does not coincide with the prospective regions for any tissues, though it is somewhat similar to the prospective region of dorsal endoderm or notochord. From these results it seems that dorsal determinants do not determine a particular tissue in an embryo but rather the "dorsal" region of an embryo.  相似文献

We have studied the response of Xenopus blastula ectoderm to fibroblast growth factor and to lithium ion. The properties of acidic and basic FGF are very similar showing a 50% induction level at 1-2 ng ml-1 and a progressive increase of muscle formation up to concentrations of 100-200 ng ml-1. The elongation of explants also shows a dose-response relationship. The minimum contact requirement for induction of ectoderm explants is about 90 min and the stage range of ectodermal competence extends from midblastula to early gastrula, both these figures resembling those obtained in embryological experiments with vegetal tissue as the inducer. Lithium chloride concentrations which produce anteriorization of whole embryos have no effect on isolated ectoderms unless accompanied by FGF. Simultaneous treatment with FGF and Li lead to a marked enhancement of both elongation and muscle formation over that produced by FGF alone. By contrast, ventral marginal explants show increased elongation and muscle formation if treated with lithium alone suggesting that they have already received a low-dose FGF treatment within the embryo. It is concluded that endogenous FGF may be solely responsible for inducing the ventral mesoderm and that dorsalization of ventral mesoderm to the level of somitic muscle might be achieved either by a very high local concentration of FGF in the dorsal region, or by the action of a second, synergistic, agent in the dorsal region.  相似文献

Dorsal or ventral blastomeres of the 16- and 32-cell stage animal hemisphere were labeled with a lineage dye and transplanted into the position of a ventral, vegetal midline blastomere. The donor blastomeres normally give rise to substantial amounts of head structures and central nervous system, whereas the blastomere which they replaced normally gives rise to trunk mesoderm and endoderm. The clones derived from the transplanted ventral blastomeres were found in tissues appropriate for their new position, whereas those derived from the transplanted dorsal blastomeres were found in tissues appropriate for their original position. The transplanted dorsal clones usually migrated into the host's primary axis (D1.1, 92%; D1.1.1, 69%; D1.1.2, 100%), and in many cases they also induced and populated a secondary axis (D1.1, 43%; D1.1.1, 67%; D1.1.2, 63%). Bilateral deletion of the dorsal blastomeres resulted in partial deficits of dorsal axial structures in the majority of cases, whereas deletions of ventral midline blastomeres did not. When the dorsal blastomeres were cultured as explants they elongated. Notochord and cement glands frequently differentiated in these explants. These studies show that the progeny of the dorsal, midline, animal blastomeres: (1) follow their normal lineage program to populate dorsal axial structures after the blastomere is transplanted to the opposite pole of the embryo; (2) induce and contribute to a secondary axis from their transplanted position in many embryos; (3) are important for the normal formation of the entire length of the dorsal axis; and (4) autonomously differentiate in the absence of exogenous growth factor signals. These data indicate that by the 16-cell stage, these blastomeres have received instructions regarding their fate, and they are intrinsically capable of carrying out some of their developmental program.  相似文献

Expression cloning from a pool of gastrula cDNAs identified the Wnt family member Xwnt-8 as having dorsal axis-inducing activity in Xenopus embryos. Microinjected Xwnt-8 mRNA was able to rescue the development of a dorsally complete anterior-posterior axis in embryos ventralized by exposure to UV light. Axis induction was observed in embryos injected in either marginal or vegetal blastomeres at the 32-cell stage. Vegetal blastomeres receiving Xwnt-8 mRNA contributed progeny not to the induced dorsal axis, but to the endoderm, a result consistent with Xwnt-8 causing cells to act as a Nieuwkoop center (the vegetal-inducing component of normal dorsal axis formation), rather than as a Spemann organizer (the induced dorsal marginal zone component that directly forms the dorsal mesoderm). Xwnt-8, which is normally expressed ventrally in midgastrula and neurula embryos, appears to mimic, when injected, maternally encoded dorsal mesoderm-inducing factors that act early in development.  相似文献

The formation of the amphibian organizer is evidenced by the ability of cells of the dorsal marginal zone (DMZ) to self-differentiate to form notochord and to induce the formation of other axial structures from neighboring regions of the embryo. We have attempted to determine when these abilities are acquired in the urodele, Ambystoma mexicanum (axolotl), and in the anuran, Xenopus laevis, by removing the mesodermalizing influence of the vegetal hemisphere at different stages of development and culturing the animal hemisphere isolate. This was possible, even at the 32 and 64-cell stage, through the use of embryos with rare cleavage patterns. Cultured isolates were analyzed for morphological differentiation of mesodermal and neural structures, and for biochemical differentiation of the tissue-specific enzyme, acetylcholinesterase (AChE). Large amounts of mesodermal and neural structures, and normal expression of AChE were found in isolates made as early as the 32-cell stage in both species. Only a small increase in the percentage of isolates developing mesoderm was detected when isolations were made at later cleavage or blastula stages. The amount of mesoderm formed did not depend on the stage of isolation. Mesoderm differentiation was usually limited to the notocord and muscle. The isolates rarely formed pronephros, mesothelium, or mesenchyme, derivatives of ventral mesoderm, during normal development. The results indicate that the marginal zone of the cleavage-stage embryo contains all of the information needed for the formation of the organizer. The formation of dorsal mesoderm does not require subsequent interaction with the cells of the vegetal hemisphere, although the presence of those cells is likely to play a role in normal pattern formation.  相似文献

Patterning of the Xenopus gastrula marginal zone in the axis running equatorially from the Spemann organizer-the so--called "dorsal/ventral axis"--has been extensively studied. It is now evident that patterning in the animal/vegetal axis also needs to be taken into consideration. We have shown that an animal/vegetal pattern is apparent in the marginal zone by midgastrulation in the polarized expression domains of Xenopus brachyury (Xbra) and Xenopus nodal-related factor 2 (Xnr2). In this report, we have followed cells expressing Xbra in the presumptive trunk and tail at the gastrula stage, and find that they fate to presumptive somite, but not to ventrolateral mesoderm of the tailbud embryo. From this, we speculate that the boundary between the Xbra- and Xnr2-expressing cells at gastrula corresponds to a future tissue boundary. In further experiments, we show that the level of mitogen-activated protein kinase (MAPK) activation is polarized along the animal/vegetal axis, with the Xnr2-expressing cells in the vegetal marginal zone having no detectable activated MAPK. We show that inhibition of MAPK activation in Xenopus animal caps results in the conversion of Xnr2 from a dorsal mesoderm inducer to a ventral mesoderm inducer, supporting a role for Xnr2 in induction of ventral mesoderm.  相似文献

To elucidate the mechanism of determination and regulation of hemopoiesis in the early Xenopus embryo, explants of dorsal and ventral mesoderm from various stage embryos were cultured alone or combined with various tissues derived from the same stage embryo. Western blot analysis of larvae-specific globin expression using monoclonal antibody L5.41 revealed that extensive erythropoiesis occurred in the explants of ventral mesoderm from st. 22 tailbud embryo, but not in those of dorsal mesoderm. Experiments using combined explants at this stage demonstrated that the in vitro differentiation of erythrocytes in the ventral mesoderm could be completely inhibited by the dorsal tissue, including neural tube, notochord, and somite mesoderm, but not by other mesoderms, gut endoderm, or forebrain. Subsequent explant studies showed that the notochord alone is sufficient for this inhibition. Furthermore, the ventral mesoderm explant from the st. 10+ early gastrula embryo was not able to differentiate into erythroid cells. However, small amounts of globin were expressed if ventral mesoderm of this stage was combined with animal pole cells which were mainly differentiated to epidermis. This stimulation was enhanced when both tissues were excised together without separation, while none of the other parts of st. 10+ embryo had this stimulatory effect. These observations found in the combined explants suggest that in vivo interactions between the ventral mesoderm and adjacent tissues are important for normal development of erythroid precursor cells.  相似文献

To study the regulation of the dorsal axial structures, we removed the right animal dorsal and the right vegetal dorsal cells from an 8-cell embryo of Xenopus laevis .
Most of the right dorsal cell-deficient embryos developed to normally proportioned tailbud embryos. No detectable delay was observed in their development. Examinations of serial sections revealed that they had restored bilateral symmetry. The cell numbers of the somite and the notochord had recovered to more than 90% and 70%, respectively, those of controls. Since the right dorsal cell-deficient embryo retained roughly three-quarters of the prospective region for the somites and half of that for the notochord, respectively, the cell number was more than that expected from the remaining prospective regions. Cell lineage analyses showed that progeny of the right ventral cells had formed almost all of the right dorsal axial structures, which are normally formed by the progeny of the right dorsal cells. However, almost all the notochord cells had been derived from the remaining left dorsal cells.
These results indicate that some quantitative aspects of regulation as expressed in terms of the cell number were different between the two tissues examined.  相似文献

Like its vertebrate homologues, Xenopus wnt-8 and murine wnt-1, we find that Drosophila wingless (wg) protein causes axis duplication when overexpressed in embryos of Xenopus laevis after mRNA injection. In many cases, the secondary axes contain eyes and cement glands, which reflect the induction of the most dorsoanterior mesodermal type, prechordal mesoderm. We show that the extent of axis duplication is dependent on the embryonic site of expression, with ventral expression leading to a more posterior point of axis bifurcation. The observed duplications are due to de novo generation of new axes as shown by rescue of UV-irradiated embryos. The true dorsal mesoderm-inducing properties of wg protein are indicated by its ability to generate extensive duplications after mRNA injection into D-tier cells of 32-cell embryos. As revealed by lineage mapping, the majority of these D cell progeny populate the endoderm; injections into animal blastomeres at this stage are far less effective in inducing secondary axes. However, when expressed in isolated animal cap explants, wg protein induces only ventral mesoderm, unless basic fibroblast growth factor is added, whereupon induction of muscle and occasionally notochord is seen. We conclude that in intact embryos, wg acts in concert with other factors to cause axis duplication. Immunolocalisation studies in embryos indicate that wg protein remains localised to the blastomeres synthesizing it and has a patchy, often perinuclear distribution within these cells, although some gets to the surface. In oocytes, the pool of wg protein is entirely intracellular and relatively unstable. When the polyanion suramin is added, most of the intracellular material is recovered in the external medium.  相似文献

Cell-cell communication through gap junctions was examined in Xenopus laevis embryos between the 16-cell and early blastula stages using Lucifer Yellow, Fluorescein, lead EDTA and dicyanoargentate as probes of junctional permeability. Injections were made into cells whose position was identified with respect to the primary cleavage axis and the grey crescent. FITC dextrans revealed cytoplasmic bridges between the injected cell and its sister only. In the animal pole at the 16-cell stage at the future dorsal side of the embryo, Lucifer Yellow was frequently and extensively transferred between cells through gap junctions. At the future ventral side gap junctional transfer of Lucifer Yellow was significantly less frequent and less extensive. The asymmetry of transfer between future dorsal and ventral sides of the animal pole was more marked at the 32-cell stage. In the vegetal pole also at the 32-cell stage, a dorsoventral difference in junctional permeability to Lucifer Yellow was observed. At the 64-cell stage the transfer of Lucifer Yellow was relatively frequent between cells lying in the same radial segment in the animal pole; transfer into cells outside each segment was infrequent, except at the grey crescent. At the 128-cell stage, Lucifer transfer between future dorsal or future ventral cells in the equatorial region was infrequent. A high incidence of transfer was restored at the future dorsal side at the 256-cell stage. At the 32-cell stage, fluorescein was infrequently transferred between animal pole cells although lead EDTA moved from cell to cell with high, comparable frequency in future dorsal and ventral regions. Dicyanoargentate always transferred extensively, both at the 32- and 64-cell stages. Treatment of embryos with methylamine raised intracellular pH by 0.15 units, increased the electrical conductance of the gap junction and produced a 10-fold increase in the frequency of Lucifer Yellow transfer through gap junctions in future ventral regions of the animal pole at the 32-cell stage.  相似文献

In Xenopus, growth factors of the TGF-beta, FGF and Wnt oncogene families have been proposed to play a role in generating embryonic pattern. In this paper we examine potential interactions between the bFGF and Xwnt-8 signaling pathways in the induction and dorsal-ventral patterning of mesoderm. Injection of Xwnt-8 mRNA into 2-cell Xenopus embryos does not induce mesoderm formation in animal cap ectoderm isolated from these embryos at the blastula stage, but alters the response of this tissue to mesoderm induction by bFGF. While animal cap explants isolated from non-injected embryos differentiate to form ventral types of mesoderm and muscle in response to bFGF, explants from Xwnt-8 injected embryos form dorsal mesodermal and neural tissues in response to the same concentration of bFGF, even if the ectoderm is isolated from the prospective ventral sides of embryos or from UV-ventralized animals. Our results support a model whereby dorso-ventral mesodermal patterning can be attained by a single mesoderm inducing agent, possibly bFGF, which is uniformly distributed across the prospective dorsal-ventral axis, and which acts in concert with a dorsally localized signal, possibly a Wnt protein, which either alters the response of ectoderm to induction or modifies the character of mesoderm after its induction.  相似文献
