Acer craibianum (Aceraceae), A new name for a maple of Southeast Asia

Acer craibianum T. Delendick is substituted forA. isolobum Kurz (1872, nonA. isolobum Massalongo, 1859). Close affinity withA. osmastonii, currently regarded as a hybrid, is rejected. Murray’s combination of the taxon with the ChineseA. wilsonii is considered not to have a sufficient basis.

A new replacement name is proposed for the species Tropidocephala speciosa Ding, 2006 (Hemiptera: Fulgoromorpha: Delphacidae: Tropidocephalini), preoccupied by Tropidocephala speciosa (Bierman, 1908): Tropidocephala dingi Sun, Yang & Chen, nom. n. = Tropidocephala speciosa Ding, 2006. The photographs and illustrations of this species are also provided.

Stirtonanthus, a new name for Stirtonia (Leguminosae, tribe Podalyrieae)

The new generic name Stirtonanthus is proposed to replace the illegitimate Stirtonia Van Wyk & Schutte (1994), which proves to be a later homonym of Stirtonia A. L . Smith (1926) and Stirtonia R. Brown (1900).     

Mallomonas wujekii (Synurophyceae), a new species from Florida, U.S.A.

A new species of Mallomonas, M. wujekii sp. nov., belonging to the Series Tonsuratae is described from a dilute, acidic locality in Florida, U.S.A. Bristle bearing domed scales are restricted to the anterior end, and scales are orientated with their longitudinal axes at a 60° to 90° angle with the longitudinal axis of the cell. Cells have three types of scales, domed anterior scales, domeless body scales and spined posterior scales. All scales possess papillae that are restricted to the shield and have one rib positioned on each end of the posterior flange. The new species is believed to be most closely related to Mallomonas tonsurata and M. galeiformis . The combination of characters of the bristles is unique among taxa of Mallomonas .

The new combinationGurania lobata (Cucurbitaceae) is made forAnguria lobata, an overlooked Linnaean name published in the original edition ofPlantae Surinamenses, andG. spinulosa is treated as synonymous with this species.     

A new name and a new species in MexicanRuellia (Acanthaceae)

Based on pollen and floral morphology,Blechum grandiflorum is transferred toRuellia, and the nameR. mirandana is proposed for this species. A new species,Ruellia tuxtlensis, is described which is distinguishable fromR. mirandana by its longer spike and elliptic bracts. It is presently known only from the lowlands of Veracruz, Mexico.
