Reducing 4970 center- and sex-specific correlations for age at appearance of postnatal ossification centers to 15 mean values of r representing homologous and non-hmologous inter-limb and intra-limb joint segment communalities, it was shown that homologous joint segments in different limbs (hand-foot, elbow-knee, shoulder-hip) showed systematically higher developmental communality than intra-limb non-homologous joints, and these in turn exceeded mean r values for inter-limb non-homologous joint segments.  相似文献

Patients with knee OA show altered gait patterns, affecting their quality of living. The current study aimed to quantify the effects of bilateral knee OA on the intra-limb and inter-limb sharing of the support of the body during gait. Fifteen patients with mild, 15 with severe bilateral knee OA, and 15 healthy controls walked along a walkway while the kinematic and kinetic data were measured. Compared with the controls, the patients significantly reduced their knee extensor moments and the corresponding contributions to the total support moment in the sagittal plane (p<0.05). For compensation, the mild OA group significantly increased the hip extensor moments (p<0.05) to maintain close-to-normal support and a more symmetrical inter-limb load-sharing during double-limb support. The severe OA group involved compensatory actions of both the ankle and hip, but did not succeed in maintaining a normal sagittal total support moment during late stance, nor a symmetrical inter-limb load-sharing during double-limb support. In the frontal plane, the knee abductor moments and the corresponding contributions to the total support moment were not affected by the changes in the other joints, regardless of the severity of the disease. The observed compensatory changes suggest that strengthening of weak hip muscles is essential for body support during gait in patients with knee OA, but that training of weak ankle muscles may also be needed for patients with severe knee OA.  相似文献

Downhill walking presents a greater risk of falling as a result of slipping or loss of balance in comparison with level walking. The current study aimed to investigate the effects of inclination angles on the intra-limb (inter-joint) and inter-limb sharing of the body support during downhill walking for a better understanding of the associated control strategy. Fifteen young male adults (age: 32.6±5.2 years, height: 168.9±5.5 cm, mass: 68.4±8.7 kg) performed level and downhill walking while their kinematic and kinetic data were measured for calculating joint moments and total support moments of the lower limbs using inverse dynamics analysis. The peak total support moments of both the leading and trailing limbs increased with increasing inclination angles (p<0.05) with different sharing patterns among individual joints. Being the major contributor to the peak total support moment during early single-limb support, the contribution of the knee remained unaltered (p>0.05), but the contributions of the hip increased with reduced contributions from the ankle (p<0.05). For the increased peak total support moment during late single-limb support, the intra-limb sharing changed from a major ankle contribution to a major knee contribution strategy. The hip contribution was also increased (p<0.05) but the hip flexor moment remained unaltered (p>0.05). During double-limb support, the main contributor to the whole body support changed from the trailing limb to the leading limb with increasing inclination angles (p<0.05).  相似文献

Objective:The present study aimed to: i) determine the contractile properties of the major lower limb muscles in female soccer players using tensiomyography; ii) investigate inter-limb differences; and iii) compare inter-limb differences between different selections and playing positions. Methods:A total of 52 female soccer players (A team; U19 and U17) were recruited. The vastus lateralis (VL), vastus medialis (VM), rectus femoris (RF), biceps femoris (BF), gastrocnemius medialis (GM), lateralis (GL) and tibialis anterior (TA) of both lower limbs were evaluated. Results:When the entire sample was assessed regardless of selection or playing position, there were significant inter-limb differences in all measured muscles except BF. Compared to the non-dominant limb, the dominant limb had higher delay time in VL (p=0.008), while showing lower values in VM (p=0.023), GL (p=0.043) and GM (p=0.006). Contraction time was lower in the RF of the dominant limb (p=0.005) and VM (p=0.047), while showing higher values in VL (p=0.036) and TA (p<0.001) as compared to the non-dominant limb. Conclusion:Given the differences found between the limbs in the whole sample studied, it is necessary to examine both limbs to gather a more in-depth understanding of underlying mechanisms related to neuromuscular functions in female soccer players.Level of evidence:Prognostic study, Level II.  相似文献

Xenopus laevis larvae at stages 51-57, according to Nieuwkoop and Faber, were subjected to amputation of the right hindlimb or of both limbs at the thigh or the tarsal level, as well as to somatic denervation of the right limb. Larvae at the same stage having undergone amputation of the right limb or of both limbs and sham denervation of the right limb were used as controls. In experimental series I a single denervation of the right limb was performed at the time of amputation. In experimental series II repeated denervations were performed (before, during and after amputation). Results show that in larvae at stages 51-53 subjected to limb amputation at the proximal level (thigh) even repeated denervation of the right limb did not prevent regeneration, although giving rise to various degrees of hypotrophy. In stage-55 larvae partial inhibition of the regenerative process in the right limb was clearly visible only after repeated denervations and amputation at the proximal level. After amputation at the distal level (tarsalia) the regenerative process in the right limb underwent no significant delay with respect to the controls, although the regenerated right limb was hypotrophic. In stage-57 larvae even a single denervation at the time of amputation was enough to inhibit regeneration of the right limb after either proximal or distal amputation. Therefore, in Xenopus laevis larvae, nerve-dependence for hindlimb regeneration takes place proximodistally as the nerve fibers grow in the limb and it gradually undergoes a process of proximodistal differentiation.(ABSTRACT TRUNCATED AT 250 WORDS)  相似文献

In recent years some buffalo farms in Campania have reported the birth of calves with limb malformation, especially with transversal hemimelia. We investigated 20 Mediterranean Italian buffaloes (8 males and 12 females) from one day to six months of age, of which 10 were affected by transversal hemimelia (group 1) and 10 were healthy controls (group 2). The following clinical and radiological patterns were observed in the malformed animals: hind limbs amputated, the right amputated off the second tarsus bones and the left amputated off the proximal epiphysis metatarsus, and the right thoracic limb hypoplasic (1 female); left hind limb amputated off the proximal epiphysis metatarsus (2 females and 1 male); left hind limb amputated off the third tarsus bones (1 female); left hind limb amputated off the tibia (1 female and 1 male); left hind limb amputated off the distal epiphysis metatarsus (1 female); left hind limb amputated off the first phalanx (1 male); right hind limb amputated off the proximal epiphysis metatarsus (1 male). In their malformed limbs all the animals presented more or less developed outlines of claws. The mean rate of SCE/cell in animals with transversal hemimelia was 8.80 +/- 3.19, that of the controls 6.61 +/- 2.73. The difference was statistically significant (P < 0.001).  相似文献

The striking variation in limb proportions within the genus Homo during the Pleistocene has important implications for understanding biomechanics in the later evolution of human bipedalism, because longer limbs and limb segments may increase bending moments about bones and joints. This research tested the hypothesis that long lower limbs and tibiae bring about increases in A-P bending forces on the lower limb during the stance phase of human walking. High-speed 3-D video data, force plates, and motion analysis software were used to analyze the walking gait of 27 modern human subjects. Limb length, as well as absolute and relative tibia length, were tested for associations with a number of kinetic and kinematic variables. Results show that individuals with longer limbs do incur greater bending moments along the lower limb during the first half of stance phase. During the second half of stance, individuals moderate bending moments through a complex of compensatory mechanisms, including keeping the knee in a more extended position. Neither absolute nor relative tibia length had any effect on the kinetic or kinematic variables tested. If these patterns apply to fossil Homo, groups with relatively long limbs (e.g. H. ergaster or early H. sapiens) may have experienced elevated bending forces along the lower limb during walking compared to those with relatively shorter limbs (e.g. the Neandertals). These increased forces could have led to greater reinforcement of joints and diaphyses. These results must be considered when formulating explanations for variation in limb morphology among Pleistocene hominins.  相似文献

Whole-body vibration (WBV) has been shown to enhance muscle activity via reflex pathways, thus having the potential to contrast muscle weakness in individuals with rupture of the anterior cruciate ligament (ACL). The present study aimed to compare the magnitude of neuromuscular activation during WBV over a frequency spectrum from 20 to 45 Hz between ACL-deficient and healthy individuals. Fifteen males aged 28±4 with ACL rupture and 15 age-matched healthy males were recruited. Root mean square (RMS) of the surface electromyogram from the vastus lateralis in both limbs was computed during WBV in a static half-squat position at 20, 25, 30, 35, 40 and 45 Hz, and normalized to the RMS while maintaining the half-squat position without vibration. The RMS of the vastus lateralis in the ACL-deficient limb was significantly greater than in the contralateral limb at 25, 30, 35 and 40 Hz (P<0.05) and in both limbs of the healthy participants (dominant limb at 25, 30, 35, 40 and 45 Hz, P<0.05; non dominant limb at 20, 25, 30, 35, 40 and 45 Hz, P<0.05). The greater neuromuscular activity in the injured limb compared to the uninjured limb of the ACL-deficient patients and to both limbs of the healthy participants during WBV might be due to either augmented excitatory or reduced inhibitory neural inflow to motoneurons of the vastus lateralis through the reflex pathways activated by vibratory stimuli. The study provides optimal WBV frequencies which might be used as reference values for ACL-deficient patients.  相似文献

Muscle and skeletal mechanoreceptors play an important role for the regulation of muscular tone and the genesis of normal Physiological Tremor (PT). For example if a big limb as the arm or leg is kept against the gravity vector, the la afferent spindle discharges continuously control the load bearing flexor in a negative feedback manner in order to compensate the gravity vector and to the stabilize arm position. This servo-like action, denoted as 'stretch reflex', not only increases static postural stability (tonic stretch reflex) but also counteracts against external disturbances by dynamically increasing the muscle tone. Muscle spindles are very sophisticated sensory organs. They have an own innervation and the endings of the nuclear bag fibres are highly sensitive for small microstretches. EMG and microneurografic studies showed their importance in the mechanism of the 8-12 Hz component for PT. In a 0 G a limb becomes position controlled. In contrast to 1g, where control of limb position is a subordinated function of force compensation in the load bearing muscle, an antagonistic control scheme is necessary in 0 G to compensate the arm against positional drifts. As a consequence there is a shift from load dependent (muscular) to position dependent (skeletal) mechanoreceptors that become involved in the neural control process. As the control process is reflected in the tremor pattern, we investigated arm tremor in a constant limb position in 1 and 0 G.  相似文献

The study investigated the destabilization effect on multi-segment physiological tremors and coordinative control for a postural-suprapostural task under different stance conditions. Twenty volunteers executed postural pointing from a level surface and a seesaw balance board; meanwhile, physiological tremors of the whole postural system and fluctuation movements of fingertip/stance surface were recorded. In reference to level stance, seesaw stance led to much fewer tremor increments of the upper limb and less fluctuation movement of the fingertip than tremor increment of the lower limb and rolling movement of the stance surface. Tremor coupling between the adjacent segments organized differentially with stance surface. In reference to level stance, seesaw stance reinforced tremor coupling of the upper limb but enfeebled the coupling in the arm-lumbar and calf-foot complexes. Stance-related differences in physiological tremors could be explained by characteristic changes in the primary and secondary principal components (PC1 and PC2), with relatively high communality with segment tremors of the lower and upper limbs, respectively. Seesaw stance introduced a prominent 4-8Hz spectral peak in PC1 and potentiated 1-4Hz and 8-12Hz spectral peaks of PC2. Structural reorganization of physiological tremors with stance configuration suggests that seesaw stance involves distinct suprapostural and postural synergies for regulating degree of freedom in joint space.  相似文献

Compared to intact limbs, running-specific prostheses have high resonance non-biologic materials and lack active tissues to damp high frequencies. These differences may lead to ground reaction forces (GRFs) with high frequency content. If so, ubiquitously applying low-pass filters to prosthetic and intact limb GRFs may attenuate veridical high frequency content and mask important and ecologically valid data from prostheses. To explore differences in frequency content between prosthetic and intact limbs we divided signal power from transtibial unilateral amputees and controls running at 2.5, 3.0, and 3.5 m/s into Low (<10 Hz), High (10–25 Hz), and Non-biologic (>25 Hz) frequency bandwidths. Faster speeds tended to reduce the proportion of signal power in the Low bandwidth while increasing it in the High and Non-biologic bandwidths. Further, prostheses had lower proportions of signal power at the High frequency bandwidth but greater proportions at the Non-biologic bandwidth. To evaluate whether these differences in frequency content interact with filter cut-offs and alter results, we filtered GRFs with cut-offs from 1 to 100 Hz and calculated vertical impact peak (VIP). Changing cut-off had inconsistent effects on VIP across speeds and limbs: Faster speeds had significantly larger changes in VIP per change in cut-off while, compared to controls, prosthetic limbs had significantly smaller changes in VIP per change in cut-off. These findings reveal differences in GRF frequency content between prosthetic and intact limbs and suggest that a cut-off frequency that is appropriate for one limb or speed may be inappropriate for another.  相似文献

The relationship between the position transplanted in a host limb bud, the orientation of a graft in a host limb bud, and the extra limb structures formed was studied by juxtaposing normally nonadjacent embryonic chick wing bud tissue. In one series of transplantation operations, two different wedges (ectoderm and mesoderm) of stage 21 right donor posterior wing bud tissue were transplanted to the middle of a host stage 20 to 22 right wing bud such that the dorsal-ventral polarity of the graft and host were the same or reversed. The results of these transplantation operations show that the formation of supernumerary limb structures depends on the position of origin of the donor tissue, the anterior-posterior position transplanted in a host limb bud, and the orientation of the graft in the host limb bud. In a second series of transplantation operations, the relationship between the proximodistal position where posterior donor tissue is transplanted in an anterior host site and the extra structures formed was studied. A wedge of posterior stage 21 right wing bud tissue was transplanted to an anterior proximal or anterior distal site of a stage 22 to 24 host right wing bud. The results of these transplantation operations show that when the donor tissue is transplanted to an anterior proximal position in a host wing bud, then limbs with only a duplicated humerus result, whereas, when transplanted to an anterior distal position, then limbs with a duplicated forearm element and extra digits result.  相似文献

The mechanisms that control the limbs position during rhythmic voluntary oscillations were investigated in ten subjects, who were asked to synchronise the lower peak of their hand or foot rhythmic oscillations to a metronome beat. The efficacy of the “position control” was estimated by measuring the degree of synchronisation between the metronome signal and the requested limb position and how it was affected by changing both the oscillation frequency (between 0.4 and 3.0 Hz) and the limbs inertial properties. With the limbs unloaded, the lower peak of both the hand and foot oscillations lagged the metronome beat of a slight amount that remained constant over the whole frequency range (mean phase delay −13.2° for the hand and −4.7° for the foot). The constancy was obtained by phase-advancing, at each frequency increment, the electromyogram (EMG) activation with respect of the clock beat of the amount necessary to compensate for the simultaneous increase of the lag between the EMG and the movement, produced by the limb mechanical impedance. After loading of either limb, the increase of the oscillation frequency induced larger EMG-movement delays and the anticipatory compensation became insufficient, so that the movement progressively phase-lagged the clock beat. The above results have been accurately simulated by a neural network connected to a pendulum model that shared the same mechanical properties of the moving limb. The network compares a central command (the intended position) to the actual position of the effector and acts as a closed-loop proportional, integrative and derivative controller. It is proposed that the synchronisation of rhythmic oscillations of either the hand or the foot is sustained by a feed-back control that conforms the position of each limb to that encoded in the central voluntary command.  相似文献

Motor imagery (MI), sharing similar neural representations to motor execution, is regarded as a window to investigate the cognitive motor processes. However, in comparison to simple limb motor imagery, significantly less work has been reported on brain oscillatory patterns induced by compound limb motor imagery which involves several parts of limbs. This study aims to investigate differences of the electroencephalogram (EEG) patterns as well as cognitive process between simple limb motor imagery and compound limb motor imagery. Ten subjects participated in the experiment involving three tasks of simple limb motor imagery (left hand, right hand, feet) and three tasks of compound limb motor imagery (both hands, left hand combined with right foot, right hand combined with left foot). Simultaneous imagination of different limbs contributes to the activation of larger cortical areas as well as two estimated sources located at corresponding motor areas within beta rhythm. Compared with simple limb motor imagery, compound limb motor imagery presents a network with more effective interactions overlying larger brain regions, additionally shows significantly larger causal flow over sensorimotor areas and larger causal density over both sensorimotor areas and neighboring regions. On the other hand, compound limb motor imagery also shows significantly larger 10–11 Hz alpha desynchronization at occipital areas and central theta synchronization. Furthermore, the phase-locking value (PLV) between central and occipital areas of left/right hand combined with contralateral foot imagery is significantly larger than that of simple limb motor imagery. All these findings imply that there exist apparent intrinsic distinctions of neural mechanism between simple and compound limb motor imagery, which presents a more complex effective connectivity network and may involve a more complex cognitive process during information processing.  相似文献

Improvements in functional motor activities are often accompanied by motor compensations to overcome persistent motor impairment in the upper limb. Kinematic analysis is used to objectively quantify movement patterns including common motor compensations such as excessive trunk displacement during reaching. However, a common motor compensation to assist reaching, shoulder abduction, is not adequately characterized by current motion analysis approaches. We apply the arm-plane representation that accounts for the co-variation between movements of the whole arm, and investigate its ability to identify and quantify compensatory arm movements in stroke subjects when making forward arm reaches. This method has not been previously applied to the analysis of motion deficits. Sixteen adults with right post-stroke hemiparesis and eight healthy age-matched controls reached in three target directions (14 trials/target; sampling rate: 100 Hz). Arm-plane movement was validated against endpoint, joint, and trunk kinematics and compared between groups. In stroke subjects, arm-plane measures were correlated with arm impairment (Fugl-Meyer Assessment) and ability (Box and Blocks) scores and were more sensitive than clinical measures to detect mild motor impairment. Arm-plane motion analysis provides new information about motor compensations involving the co-variation of shoulder and elbow movements that may help to understand the underlying motor deficits in patients with stroke.  相似文献

The aim of this study was to compare the upper-limb kinematics and coordination of the short grip and classic drives in field hockey. Ten elite female players participated in the experiment. The VICON system was used to record the displacement of markers placed on the stick and the players' joints during five short grip and five classic drives. Kinematic and coordination parameters were analyzed. The ball's velocity was recorded by a radar device that also served as the drive target. Kinematic differences were noted between the two drive conditions, with shorter duration and smaller overall amplitude in the short grip drive, explained by the shorter lever arm and the specific context in which it is used. No differences were noted for upper-limb coordination. In both types of stick holding, an interlimb dissociation was noted on the left side, whereas the right interlimb coordination was in phase. Moreover, the time lag increased in the disto-proximal direction, suggesting wrist uncocking before impact and the initiation of descent motion by the left shoulder. Mediolateral analysis confirmed these results: coordination of left-right limbs converged at the wrist but dissociated with more proximal joints (elbows and shoulders).  相似文献

The preference for in-phase association of coupled cyclic limbs movements is well described (mirror-symmetrical patterns) and this is demonstrated by the ease of performing in-phase movements compared to anti-phase ones. The hypothesis of this study is that the easiest movement patterns are those with minor postural activity. The aim of this study was to describe postural activity in standing subjects in the sagittal and frontal planes during the execution of three upper limbs tasks (single arm, in-phase, anti-phase) at four different frequencies (from 0.6 to 1.2 Hz).We employed six infrared cameras for recording kinematics information, a force platform for measuring forces exerted on the ground, and a system for surface electromyography (SEMG). Outcome measures were: upper limb range of movement and relative-phase, centre of pressure displacement (COP), screw torque (Tz) exerted on the ground, and SEMG recordings of postural muscles (adductor longus, gluteus medius, rectus femoris, and biceps femoris). Our results show that in both the planes the in-phase task resulted in less COP displacement, torque production, and postural muscles involvement than the anti-phase and single arm tasks. This reduced need of postural control could explain the ease of performing in-phase coupled limb movements compared with anti-phase movements.  相似文献

Frequency and displacement amplitude relations for normal hand tremor.   总被引:5,自引:0,他引:5
Spectral analysis of hand tremor records obtained from normal subjects during continuous extension of the hand for 15-45 min revealed that the root-mean-square (rms) displacement amplitude of the tremor increased from control levels of about 30 mum to levels on the order of 100-1,000 times control. Associated with this increase in the displacement was a systematic decrease in the hand tremor frequency from control values of 8-9 Hz to values of 4-6 Hz. Spectral analysis of demodulated extensor EMG records indicated a consistent relation between EMG modulation amplitude at the tremor frequency and the tremor displacement amplitude for tremor records with rms displacement above about 100 mum. No consistent relation was found between these two variables for tremor records with displacements below 100 mum. Consideration of both mechanical and neural reflex effects indicated that a viscoelastic-mass mechanism primarily determined the small-amplitude (less than 100 mum) tremors, while the large displacement tremors may have involved both mechanical and neural feed back factors.  相似文献
