Three different human head models in a free space are exposed to blast waves coming from four different directions. The four head–neck–body models composed of model a, with the neck free in space; model b, with neck fixed at the bottom; and model c, with the neck attached to the body. The results show that the effect of the body can be ignored for the first milliseconds of the head–blast wave interactions. Also one can see that although most biomechanical responses of the brain have similar patterns in all models, the shear stresses are heavily increased after a few milliseconds in model b in which the head motion is obstructed by the fixed-neck boundary conditions. The free-floating head model results are closer to the attached-body model.  相似文献

目的 以西部一所综合性三级甲等医院为例,验证kano模型应用在三级甲等医院门诊服务内容调查分析中的可行性与开展后的应用效果。方法 运用自行设计的kano调查问卷,对门诊700名就诊的患者开展调查,通过kano模型质量属性分类方法将门诊服务内容进行归类。结果 本次门诊服务内容按照kano质量属性的分类为必备质量、一维质量、魅力质量、逆向质量的分别有8项、8项、3项、2项。结论 kano模型应用在三级甲等医院门诊服务内容的分类中能够从定性层次上挖掘出服务需方对医疗机构潜在的服务需求。一次卓有成效的管理,在控制基本质量的同时,我们还需要不断完善一维质量与创造魅力质量。  相似文献

Secondary structure analysis of 34 internal transcribed spacer 2 (ITS-2) sequences showed that the current model for the green algae Scenedesmus and Desmodesmus is not accurate. In particular, helix I of the currently used model showed considerable deviations from our new model. The newly proposed model is supported by many two-sided compensated base pair changes and fully compensated insertions in all four helices. Phylogenetic analysis by maximum parsimony based on the new alignment confirmed the recent division of the old genus Scenedesmus into the new genera Scenedesmus and Desmodesmus. However, the analysis was not able to show phylogenetic relationships within these two genera. Hence, the ITS-2 region alone is not suitable for clarifying the phylogeny of Scenedesmus and Desmodesmus and new regions have to be found for future sequence analyses.  相似文献

The in vitro spontaneous contractions of human myometrium samples can be described using a phenomenological model involving different cell states and adjustable parameters. In patients not receiving hormone treatment, the dynamic behavior could be described using a three-state model similar to the one we have already used to explain the oscillations of intra-uterine pressure during parturition. However, the shape of the spontaneous contractions of myometrium from patients on progestin treatment was different, due to a two-step relaxation regime including a latched phase which cannot be simulated using the previous model without introducing an ad hoc mechanism to account for the extra energy involved in this sustained contraction. One way to do this is to introduce an anomalous rate of ATP consumption, the biochemical reasons for which have not yet been elucidated and which cannot be mathematically simulated using our experimental data. An alternative explanation is the reduced cycling rate of actin-myosin cross-bridges known to occur during the latch-phase. Our experimental findings suggest a third possibility, namely a sol-gel transition with a specific relaxation time constant, which would maintain a significant part of the cell population in the contracted-state until the intracellular-medium returns to its normal fluid behavior.  相似文献

The model of Geman-Miller of the respiratory oscillator is reinvestigated for its interpretation of the parameters: W and T. It was found that the interpretation of Geman-Miller, that the parameters T and W represent the chemosensitive feedback, is incorrect. The extension to the model made by Engeman and Swanson is not necessary to produce afterdischarge. Modelling the risk factors driving an environmental problem can be problematic when published data describing variables and their interactions are sparse. In such cases, expert opinion forms a vital source of information. Here we demonstrate the utility of a Bayesian Net (BN) model to integrate available information in a risk analysis setting. As an example, we use this methodology to explore the major factors influencing initiation of Lyngbya majuscula blooms in Deception Bay, Queensland, Australia. Over the past decade Lyngbya blooms have increased in both frequency and extent on seagrass beds in Deception Bay, with a range of adverse effects. This model was used to identify the main factors that could trigger a Lyngbya bloom. The five factors found to have the greatest effect on Lyngbya bloom initiation were: the available nutrient pool, water temperature, redox state of the sediments, current velocity, and light. Scenario analysis was also conducted to determine the sensitivity of the model to different combinations of variable states. The model has been used to identify knowledge gaps and therefore to direct additional research efforts in Deception Bay. With minor changes the model can be used to better understand the factors triggering Lyngbya blooms in other coastal regions.  相似文献

Coastal and estuarine intertidal sediments are commonly colonized by dense populations of microphytobenthos. Due to wind and tides, important fractions of microphytobenthic populations may be buried. A mathematical model describing the depth variation of chlorophyll a in intertidal sediments was developed and experimentally tested. The model assumed first-order chlorophylla degradation and a constant mean burial velocity which resulted in a negative exponential variationC Z =C O exp{-k/vz} (C Z andC O =chlorophylla concentration at depth zand at the surface;k=specific degradation rate of chlorophyll a to pheopigments;V=mean burial velocity). Chlorophylla concentration depth profiles in different sediment types measured at the Tagus estuary and Ria Formosa (Portugal) were used to validate the model. The model was adjusted to field data. The chlorophyll a degradation rate was measured in a microcosm experiment under total darkness and no tidal action, and sampled during three months. This rate was shown to be independent of time and depth for the upper 0–15 mm depth interval. This result allowed the estimation ofV for each sampling site. Comparison of predicted and observed temporal data further confirmed the validity of the model andk andV values. Despite its simplicity, the proposed model adequately described the depth distribution of chlorophylla in different types of intertidal sediments. The model allowed the quantitative characterization of the buried microphytobenthic biomass (depth-integrated biomass) and the assessment of its importance as potentially productive stock of cells.  相似文献

The BRIND model, a computer model of the high altitude forests in the Brindabella Range near Canberra (Australian Capital Territory), is documented and the results of a series of tests on the model are provided. The BRIND model simulates a 1/12 ha forest stand by computing the growth of each individual tree in the stand. It considers establishment and death of trees on a tree-by-tree basis using stochastic functions. The model also simulates the effects of prescribed fire and wildfire on the forests. The model presently is restricted to southeasterly facing slopes (moist, sheltered situations) above 850 m in altitude. The BRIND model is tested in four ways: (1) A single example simulation (for 500years) is inspected for agreement with stand dynamics in wet sclerophyll forests. (2) By varying wildfire frequency, the model is used to develop a succession diagram for forests in the alpine ash (E. delegatensis) zone of the Brindabella Range. This diagram is considered in terms of the successional patterns described for this ecological zone. (3) By subjecting the model to different climatic conditions and wildfire frequencies, a simulated altitude zonation is developed. This simulated pattern of forest types is compared with the extant forest types in the Brindabella Range. (4) The model is tested on its ability to duplicate basal area, stocking density, and average diameters for different age stands found in an independent data set. The model was found to simulate patterns of vegetation that resemble those of the forests of the Brindabella Range in both space and time. The successional pattern was found to be complex and to differ from classic theories of succession originating with Clements. Potential model applications are discussed  相似文献

Summary A model is proposed for the nature of the transfer inhibitor of F-like plasmids, and is shown to be applicable to six of these. In this model, the transfer inhibitor has two components. One, the product of a gene called fin (previously fi or i) is relatively non-specific. The other, called a P product, can be recognised by its slow synthesis or action in a newly-infected cell, and is relatively specific. An approximate location for traP, the cistron coding for the P product of Flac, has been found.Supported by a George Murray Fellowship from the University of Adelaide, Australia. The purpose of this study was to determine the true intraocular pressure and modulus of elasticity of the human cornea in vivo. The cornea was modeled as a shell, and the equations for the deformations of a shell due to applanating and intraocular pressures were combined to model the behavior of the cornea during applanation tonometry. At certain corneal dimensions called the calibration dimensions, the applanating and intraocular pressures are considered to be equal. This relationship was used to determine the modulus of elasticity of the cornea and the relationship between the applanating and intraocular pressures. The true intraocular pressure (IOPT) was found to be related to Goldmann’s applanating pressure (IOPG) as (IOPT = IOPG/K, where K is a correction factor. For the calibration corneal thickness of 0.52 mm, the modulus of elasticity E in MPa of the human cornea was found to be related to the true intraocular pressure IOPT in mmHg as E = 0.0229IOPT. The generalization of the Imbert—Fick law that takes into account the effect of corneal dimensions and stiffness was found to be given by IOPT = 73.5W/(K A), where W is the applanating weight in gf (gram force) and A is the applanated area in mm2. The calculated true intraocular pressure and modulus of elasticity were found to agree with published experimental results. The mathematical model developed may therefore be used to improve results from applanation tonometry and to estimate the mechanical property of the cornea in vivo.  相似文献

The intramolecular charge-transfer model for the electronic structure of amides has been extended to include the effects of torsion about the peptide bond (Δω = ω – 180) and pyramidalization at the peptide nitrogen (θN). The model is used to calculate the absorption and CD spectra of nonplanar amides as a function of the angles Δω and θN. For cis-amides, the rotational strengths of the nπ* and ππ* transitions are much more sensitive to θN for a given value of Δω than is the case for trans-amides. The results from the model are compared with available experimental and previous theoretical treatments of such systems. The contributions of nonplanarity in amides to the CD of various polypeptide conformations is discussed. The effects should be negligible for α-helixes but may be quite significant in β-sheets and β-turns. The CD spectrum of unordered peptides would be readily explained if there were a significant bias toward negative Δω values in polypeptides of L-amino acids. However, the evidence currently available does not indicate such a bias.  相似文献

Vegetation cover is the key to controlling wind erosion. A brief review of wind erosion/cover models is outlined. Fryrear's (1985) soil cover (wheat stubble) model was evaluated against field wind tunnel results from far south-west N.S.W. Fryrear's equation over estimated the soil loss compared to field wind tunnel results.Fryrear's model failed to provide meaningful results at low cover levels with the soil loss ratio, SLR>1 for percent soil cover, % SC<6. A single parameter exponential model was fitted to the wind tunnel data which ensured that SLR did not exceed 1 for 100% SC. Even with this improvement, the exponential model has drawbacks.Results suggest that the SLR is sensitive to wind velocity and that SLR goes to 0 well before % SC=100. A method for approximating the threshold wind velocity required to initiate erosion for various cover levels is described. Using the recurrence interval for a prescribed wind velocity, the probability of erosion hazard for a field can be determined.It is the authors belief that the wind tunnel is underestimating the occurrence of wind erosion events in this study. Three reasons why the wind tunnel may be underestimating erosion events are given.  相似文献

At the beginning of the 1990s, a simple genetic model that explained flower development was presented based on Arabidopsis thaliana and Antirrhinum majus floral homeotic mutants. According to this model, which is a milestone in plant development studies, flower development can be explained by three classes of genes (A, B and C), each one controlling the identity of organs in two adjacent whorls. Intriguingly, more than 20 years later, there are still some unanswered questions, in particular regarding the universality of the class A-function genes. Class A genes are well characterised in A. thaliana, but so far no A mutants have been described in other plant species nor in Antirrhinum majus. Here, we retrace the story that led to the proposal of the ABC model focusing on the contribution of A. majus to this model. Although fewer groups are still using A. majus as a model system, this plant was a master contributor to our comprehension of the molecular networks controlling flower development.  相似文献

It is shown that in some experimental designs the MANOVA- and the GMANOVA-model are too restrictive either to yield all hypothesis tests of interest or to reflect all known features of the design. An extension of these models is derived by relating the response vectors with the unknown model parameters by linear equations which may be completely different for each of the p components of the response vector and for each of the n independent vectors. For situations, in which a Wishart-distributed estimator for the underlying common covariance matrix is attainable, a test for any s-dimensional linear hypothesis on the model parameters is derived.  相似文献

Summary The expression of many genetic defects may be suppressed by proper medical care or even by changing the environmental conditions. We have used the Penna model of ageing to show that such efFects may be responsible for increasing the human life expectancy during the 20 th century. This effect is equivalent to the shift of the threshold (T) in the Penna model, which determines how many deleterious, expressed mutations kill an organism. For long genomes, the shift of T changes the age distribution significantly with negligible relative changes in the maximum life span, while for short genomes, the shift of T changes both, the age distribution as well as the maximum age. Unfortunately the same simulations show that the strategy of enhancing the medical care requires more and more effort to keep the mortality rate of our populations at the same lower level and that some new defects could be exposed to selection.  相似文献

The question of whether there is a limit to the similarity of competing species has previously been investigated by a number of authors. These studies have all used the Lotka-Volterra model of competition, and have assumed that the competition coefficient αij may be calculated using the expression, αij = ∝ Ui(R) Uj(R) dR/∝ (Ui(R))2 dR. In this paper, the generality of this formula is questioned and two alternative expressions for αij are proposed. When these expressions are used in an analysis of limiting similarity, qualitatively different conclusions emerge regarding the existence and nature of this limit, using either deterministic or stochastic models. The relevance of these findings to theories of character convergence and similarity barriers is discussed. The available field evidence does not strongly support the validity of the formula for αij used in previous studies. Since a given method of calculating αij must be derived from a higher level model, it is suggested that the Lotka-Volterra model is not sufficient in an investigation of limiting similarity.  相似文献

To verify that maximization of endurance is important among the functional criteria determining trunk muscle activation patterns, symmetric and asymmetric exertions were simulated using a detailed model consisting of 114 muscle slips crossing the lumbosacral junction and employing a cost function which maximizes endurance. First, the question whether meaningful comparisons can be made between activity predictions for individual muscle slips and surface EMG data recorded from larger anatomical entities was addressed. This was answered affirmatively, since activation patterns predicted by a coarse and a middle version of the model, in which activation was constrained to be equal within 14 or 32 groups of muscle slips, were similar to those predicted with each muscle slip controlled independently. Median correlation coefficients between activity vectors predicted by the simplified models and the detailed model were 0.88 and 0.97, respectively. The coarse model underestimated the endurance capacity by a median of 21%, the middle model by only 0.7%. Second, predicted activities within anatomical entities defined at this level of detail were compared to reference data derived from the literature (Lavender et al. 1992, Human Factors 34, 239–247; 1992, Journal of Orthopaedic Research 10, 691–700; Vink et al., 1988, Electromyography and Clinical Neurophysiology 28, 517–525). The predicted activity patterns of the crector spinae, external oblique and rectus abdominis muscles closely resembled the EMG patterns (r2 = 0.48–0.99). Furthermore, the observed distribution of activity between parts of the crector spinae muscle was adequately predicted.  相似文献
