A limonoid from Neobeguea mahafalensis

The hexane extract of Neobeguea mahafalensis has yielded a limonoid, neobeguin, which is related to pseudrelone A2.     

Rapid separation of triterpenoids from Neem seed extracts

A dichloromethane extract of the triterpenoids from seeds of the Neem tree (Azadirachta indica) can be fractionated rapidly and with economic use of solvents using the Biotage™ flash chromatography system. The fractions can be analysed by thin layer chromatography (TLC), or quantitatively, by supercritical fluid chromatography or high performance liquid chromatography (HPLC), for the determination of 11 tetranortriterpenoids, including the natural insecticide azadirachtin. After a second pass through the Biotage flash column, pure compounds, including azadirachtin and salannin can be obtained directly, although these compounds comprise less than 0.3% of the total mass of the seeds extracted and are present in a complex mixture of similar substances. Limonoids from the seed of the natal mahogany, Trichilia dregeana

We have investigated the seed limonoids of Trichilia dregeana and obtained the known rohituka-7, an ester related to polystachin, and four new compounds designated dregeana-1 to 4. These were found to be intermediate in oxidation level between rohituka-7 and heudelottin.     

Limonoids from Citrus reticulata

The seeds of Citrus reticulata afforded the new limonoid derivative, isolimonexic acid methyl ether, in addition to the previously isolated limonin, deacetylnomilin, obacunone and ichangin. The structure elucidation was achieved primarily through 1D and 2-D-NMR analyses. The marginal antimalarial activity of isolimonexic acid methyl ether is reported.     

Limonoids from Cedrela sinensis

Five limonoids were isolated from the leaves of Cedrela sinensis (Meliaceae) and their structures were determined to be 11beta-hydroxy-7alpha-obacunyl acetate, 11-oxo-7alpha-obacunyl acetate, 11-oxo-7alpha-obacunol, 11beta-hydroxycneorin G, and 11-oxocneorin G, by 2D NMR spectroscopic experiments, X-ray crystallographic analysis, and chemical methods.     

Limonoids from Dictamnus angustifolius

Five limonoids were isolated from the root bark of Dictamnus angustifolius G. Don. Their structures were determined as fraxinellone, obacunone, limonin, limonin diosphenol, and dictamdiol respectively, on the basis of their spectral data and chemical methods. Dictamdiol is a new natural degraded limonoid lactone derivative. Relative stereochemistry was established by two-dimensional correlation spectroscopic (COSY) experiment and biogenesis.     

Limonoids from Ekebergia pterophylla

The seed of Ekebergia pterophylla contains limonoids closely related to methyl angolensate, and similar to those of other Ekebergia species. This serves as evidence to support the taxonomic position of the species which has been disputed.     

Limonoids from the fruits of Melia toosendan

Fifteen limonoids, meliatoosenins E-S (1-15), and 10 known compounds were isolated from the fruits of Melia toosendan. Their structures were elucidated on the basis of extensive spectroscopic methods including DEPT, HSQC, HMBC, (1)H-(1)H COSY, and ROESY experiments. All the compounds were evaluated for antiproliferative activity using A-549 and HL-60 cell lines.     

大叶桃花心木中的柠檬苦素成分(英文)

为研究大叶桃花木(Swietenia macrophylla)的柠檬苦素类成分,采用柱层析的方法从大叶桃花心木的枝叶中分离得七个柠檬苦素分别为swimacronoid A(1)、mahonin(2)、methyl angolensate(3)、methyl 6-hydroxyango-lensate(4)、methyl 6-acetoxyangolensate(5)、swietmanin(6)、deacetylsecomahoganin(7)。其中化合物1为一个新的evodulone型的柠檬苦素,化合物7为首次从该种中分的。     

Limonoids from the stem bark of Khaya grandifoliola

Three limonoids, deacetylkhayanolide E (1), 6S-hydroxykhayalactone (2), and grandifolide A (3), along with three known ones, were isolated from stem bark of the Nigerian medicinal plant Khaya grandifoliola. Their structures were characterized on the basis of the application of spectroscopic methods. In vitro antimicrobial and cytotoxic activities of the isolates were also tested, but were all found to be inactive.     

Limonoids from the stem bark of Cedrela odorata

Four nomilin/obacunol derivatives and a swietenolide derivative, together with seven known limonoids, were isolated from stem bark of Cedrela odorata and their structures established by spectroscopic methods. Antifeedant activity of the isolated compounds was also tested.     

Limonoids from Khaya ivorensis

Four limonoids, 1-O-deacetyl-6-deoxykhayanolide E (1), 1-O-deacetyl-2α-hydroxykhayanolide E (2), 3-acetyl-khayalactone (3), 11α-acetoxy-2α-hydroxy-6-deoxy-destigloylswietenine acetate (4), along with 12 known limonoids, were isolated from the stems of Khaya ivorensis. Their structures were elucidated on the basis of spectroscopic analysis.     

Limonoids from Nymania capensis

The bark and timber of Nymania capensis contain prieurianin and other complex limonoids, four of which have been identified. The chemical evidence serves to support the taxonomic position of Nymania in the family Meliaceae.     

Limonoids from the endemic Brazilian species Raulinoa echinata

Phytochemical survey of stems and leaves of the South Brazilian endemic Raulinoa echinata Cowan, Rutaceae led to the isolation of five limonoid derivatives: the widespread limonin, limonexic acid, kihadalactone B, a methoxylated limonexic acid derivative and a degraded limonoid structurally related to fraxinellone. The two latter compounds have been isolated for the first time. These compounds displayed weak inhibitory activity when assayed in vitro against trypomastigote forms of Trypanosoma cruzi. In this paper, the isolation, structure elucidation and bioactivity of these compounds are reported.     

Limonoids from the fruits of Melia toosendan

Four (1–4) new and seven known limonoids were isolated from the EtOH extract of the fruits of Melia toosendan. The structures of the new compounds were established on the basis of spectroscopic methods to be 12-O-methyl-1-O-deacetylnimbolinin B (1), 12-O-methy-1-O-tigloyl-1-O-deacetylnimbolinin B (2), 12-O-ethylnimbolinin B (3), and 1-O-cinnamoyl-1-O-debenzoylohchinal (4). Additionally, two new tirucallane-type triterpenoids, named meliasenins S (5) and T (6), were obtained from the same fractions during purification of the limonoids.     

Limonoids from seeds of Thai Xylocarpus moluccensis

A new andirobin, thaimoluccensin A (1), and two new phragmalin-type limonoids, thaimoluccensins B (2) and C (3), were isolated from seeds of a Thai mangrove plant, Xylocarpus moluccensis, together with eight known compounds. The structures of these compounds were elucidated on the basis of spectroscopic data. Only 7-deacetylgedunin (7), a gedunin-type limonoid, exhibited significant inhibitory activity against nitric oxide production from activated macrophages with IC₅₀ value less than 10 μM, suggesting that the compound has anti-inflammatory activity.

Identification and Antifeedant Activities of Limonoids from Azadirachta indica

Four new limonoids, azadiraindins A–D ( 1 – 4 , resp.), together with seven known analogs, were isolated from the MeOH extract of Azadirachta indica. The structures of 1 – 4 were elucidated by NMR and MS spectroscopic analyses, and the relative configuration of 1 was determined by single‐crystal X‐ray crystallography. The compounds isolated in comparatively large amount were evaluated for their antifeedant activities against Plutella xylostella; the antifeedant rate of 10 was 90.6% and the corrected mortality of 8 was 79.2%.
