In the present investigation the acetone extracts of macroalgae Ulva lactuca and Enteromorpha intestinalis were tested for antioxidant, antimicrobial and cytotoxic potential. Antioxidant activity was evaluated by measuring the scavenging capacity of tested samples on DPPH and superoxide anion radicals, reducing the power of samples and determination of total phenolic and flavonoid compounds in extracts. As a result of the study, U. lactuca extract was found to have a better free radical scavenging activity (IC50 = 623.58 μg/ml) than E. intestinalis extract (IC50 = 732.12 μg/ml). Moreover, the tested extracts had effective ferric reducing power and superoxide anion radical scavenging. The total content of phenol in extracts of U. lactuca and E. intestinalis was 58.15 and 40.68 μg PE/mg, while concentrations of flavonoids were 39.58 and 21.74 μg RE/mg, respectively. Furthermore, among the tested species, extracts of U. lactuca showed a better antimicrobial activity with minimum inhibitory concentration values ranging from 0.156 to 5 mg/ml, but it was relatively weak in comparison with standard antibiotics. Bacillus mycoides and Bacillus subtilis were the most susceptible to the tested extracts. Contrary to this Aspergillus flavus, Aspergillus fumigatus and Penicillium purpurescens were the most resistant. Finally, cytotoxic activity of tested extracts was evaluated on four human cancer cell lines. Extract of E. intestinalis expressed the stronger cytotoxic activity towards all tested cell lines with IC50 values ranging from 74.73 to 155.39 μg/ml.  相似文献

Two new ent-kaurane diterpenoids, namely 3α,16α-dihydroxy-ent-kauran-19-oic acid (1) and 3α,9β-dihydroxy-ent-kauran-19-oic acid (2), together with eight known compounds were isolated and identified from the leaves of Sphagneticola trilobata. Their structures were elucidated on the basis of extensive spectroscopic analysis including 1D, 2D NMR and MS techniques. Known compounds 4, 5 and 810 were obtained from S. trilobata for the first time. These compounds were tested for their in vitro α-glucosidase inhibitory activity and their tyrosinase inhibitory potential. Compounds 2, 3 and 6 were found to show in vitro α-glucosidase inhibitory activity with IC50 values ranging from 0.398 to 0.476 mM, which were close or more potent than reference compound acarbose (IC50 0.410 mM). Compounds 2 and 6 were further revealed to show in vitro tyrosinase inhibitory activity (IC50 29.25 and 40.74 μM) but inferior to that of the positive control kojic acid (IC50 12.55 μM).  相似文献

A series of α-haloacetophenones and analogues were synthesized. The bioassays show that some target compounds have good antibacterial activity against Xanthomonas oryzae pv. oryzae (Xoo), Xanthomonas axonopodis pv. citri (Xac) and Meloidogyne incognita (M. incognita). Especially, the compound 24 has good in vitro and in vivo antibacterial activities against Xoo, the EC50 value, curative and protection activities are 0.09 mg/L, 48.9%, and 52.3%, respectively, which are better than the thiodiazole copper and bismerthiazol. Meanwhile, the compound 24 has good in vitro antibacterial activity against Xac, and has an EC50 value of 1.6 mg/L. Moreover, the compound 19 exhibits good nematicidal activity M. incognita, with the LC50 value of 1.0 mg/L, which is better than the positive control avermectin. In addition, the compound 24 can inhibit the formation of extracellular polysaccharide and biofilm of Xoo, and change the permeability of cell membrane. α-haloacetophenone and analogues have the advantages of simple structure, high efficiency, broad spectrum of biological activity, and can be used as antibacterial agents and nematicides or lead compounds in the future.  相似文献

The cytotoxic and antioxidant properties of lipophilic compounds extracted from different parts of four Chenopodium L. (Chenopodium album, Chenopodium hybridum, Chenopodium rubrum and Chenopodium urbicum) species were evaluated. The highest phenolic content was found in herb and seeds of all examined plants. Large amounts of free polyphenols were observed in herb extracts of C. album (3.36 mg/g DW), seeds of C. urbicum (3.87 mg/g DW) and roots of C. urbicum (1.52 mg/g DW). The cytotoxic activities of the extracts were assessed against human lung carcinoma A-549 and ovarian carcinoma TOV-112D and normal human fibroblast cell lines. Our study demonstrated that the extracts from the herb of C. rubrum and C. urbicum had the best antioxidant effect of all the extracts analyzed. Most of the extracts tested exhibited low cytotoxicity. However, the extracts from herb and seeds of C. album and C. hybridum showed the significant antiproliferative effect on the TOV-112 cell line.It can be concluded that antioxidant activity and phenolic composition differ mainly between plant parts and are quite similar between the plants, when the same plant part is analyzed. Thus, the Chenopodium extracts could be used as a readily accessible source of natural antioxidants, and may be used in the pharmaceutical industry and for food supplements production.  相似文献

This work describes the antiparasitic and cytotoxic activities of three plant species from the Cerrado biome, Northeastern Brazil. Significant antiparasitic inhibition was observed against Trypanosoma cruzi (63.86%), Leishmania brasiliensis (92.20%) and Leishmania infantum (95.23%) when using ethanol extract from leaves of Guazuma ulmifolia Lam. (Malvaceae), at a concentration of 500 μg/mL. However, low levels of inhibition were observed when assessing leishmanicidal and trypanocidal (Clone CL-B5) activities of crude ethanol extracts from leaves and bast tissue of Luehea paniculata (Malvaceae) and leaves and bark of Prockia crucis (Salicaceae) at a concentration of 500 μg/mL. The extracts revealed the presence of phenolic acids such as gallic acid, chlorogenic acid, caffeic acid and rosmarinic acid, as well as flavonoids such as rutin, luteolin, apigenin and quercetin – the latter detected only in G. ulmifolia. G. ulmifolia extract displayed higher leishmanicidal activity probably due to the presence of quercetin, a potent known leishmanicidal compound. A cytotoxicity test indicated values over 50% at the highest concentration (1000 μg/mL) for all natural products, which were considered cytotoxic. This points out the need for further tests to enable future in vivo trials, including antineoplastic activity on human tumor cells.  相似文献

A series of l-pyroglutamic acid analogues from natural product lead were designed and synthesized, as well as their antifungal activities against Phytophthora infestans, neuritogenic activities, antibacterial activities and anti-inflammatory activities are described. The bioassays and SAR study showed that the majority of l-pyroglutamic acid esters have a significant antifungal activity against P. infestans, especially 2d and 2j demonstrated the best activities with EC50 values of 1.44 and 1.21?μg?mL?1, which were about seven times that of commercial azoxystrobin (7.85?μg?mL?1). Moreover, compounds 2e, 2g and 4d displayed anti-inflammatory activity against LPS-induced NO production in BV-2 microglial cells; neuritogenic activity in NGF-induced PC-12 cells is the same activity. This study demonstrates that compounds 2d and 2j are potential drugs to control P. infestans.  相似文献

Diabetes is one of the metabolic disorders in the world. It is the prime reason of mortality and morbidity owing to hyperglycemia which is link with numerus obstacles. Artemisia argyi is commonly used as an ingredient in healthy foods as well as an herbal medicine in Asian countries. The present research aims to evaluate the hypoglycemic effects of A. argyi and reveal its the potentially active constituents. The chemical composition was identified by HPLC-DAD-Q-TOF-MS, and fractionation was performed by extraction. The fractions were assessed by the blood glucose level, oral glucose tolerance and small intestinal α-glucosidase inhibitory tests, and an analysis of the total phenolic content (TPC), antioxidant and α-glucosidase inhibitory activities. In our efforts to characterize the compounds responsible for hypoglycemic effect, bioactivity-guided fraction of the MeOH extract and chemical investigation of its active EtOAc fraction led to the successful identification of caffeoylquinic acids, which were elucidated by molecular docking, using the crystal structure of S. cerevisiae isomaltase (PD code: 3AXI). In summary, this bio-guided search revealed that caffeoylquinic acids from A. argyi as potential active constituents displayed with hypoglycemic activity, which provided a basis for further study of pharmacological activity.  相似文献

Phytochemical study of Machaerium brasiliense leaves extract afforded three hopane triterpenes 3,4-seco-21β-H-hop-22 (29)-en-3-oic acid (1), hopenone B (2), hopene B (3). In addition, lupeol (4), stigmasterol (5), β-sitosterol (6), daucosterol (7), uracil (8), allantoin (9) and trans-4-hydroxy-N-methylproline (10) were isolated. The structures of these compounds were established based on spectroscopic data in comparison to those described in literature. Considering the chemotaxonomic relevance of the isolated compounds, this is the first report of triterpenes 1, 2 and 3 in Fabaceae family and compounds 7, 8 and 9 in the genus Machaerium. Besides, preliminary screening on antiproliferative and antioxidant activities was performed for MBEB and its fractions.  相似文献

The Indian sarsaparilla (Hemidesmus indicus) is a commonly used plant in Indian traditional medicine of Ayurveda for the preparation of various non-alcoholic beverages. However, limited studies are available on the essential oil of H. indicus roots (HRO); therefore, the study evaluated the antioxidant, anti-inflammatory and antidiabetic activities of H. indicus root essential oil as well as insecticide potential against the common pests of stored food materials (Sitophilus oryzae, Callosobruchus maculatus and Tribolium castaneum). The repellant efficacy of HRO was found to be high against S. oryzae (8.21 ± 0.55 μg/mL). Likewise, the fumigant potential was also observed for HRO against these pests; the higher activities were observed against S. oryzae and C. maculatus (32.46 ± 1.42 and 35.18 ± 1.62 μg/L). Besides, the essential oil was also found to be active as a contact poison, however, against all the three pests, the toxicity was above 100 μg/mm3, being the highest against C. maculatus (122.8 ± 3.57 μg/mm3). To analyze the possible effect of the essential oil on grains, the different grains were allowed to germinate and compared to that of normal; thus, the non-toxic nature of HRO against the stored products is also confirmed. The essential oil shown to have DPPH hydrogen peroxide and ABTS radical scavenging, nitric oxide scavenging potential, and inhibition of lipoxgenase, alpha-amylase and alpha-glucosidase. Overall, the present study concludes that the H. indicus may be a suitable repellant and fumigant agent against different pests of stored products and a possible antioxidant, anti-inflammatory, and anti-diabetic agent.  相似文献

Six new polyketides aplojaveediins A–F (16) were isolated from the endophytic fungus Aplosporella javeedii associated with the host plant Orychophragmus violaceus (Brassicaceae). The structures of the new metabolites were elucidated by analysis of their NMR and MS data. Compound 1 exhibited antifungal activity against the hyphae form of Candida albicans strain ATCC 24433 in the agar plate diffusion assay and the microbroth dilution assay. The kinetic of killing of C. albicans cells for compound 1 was considerably faster than that of the positive control hygromycin B. Compounds 1 and 6 also exhibited moderate antibacterial activities against sensitive (ATCC 29213) and drug-resistant (ATCC 700699) strains of Staphylococcus aureus.  相似文献

Three pairs of new N-methoxy-containing indolediketopiperazine enantiomers, acrozines A–C (13), were isolated from the culture extract of Acrostalagmus luteoalbus TK-43, an endophytic fungus obtained from the marine green alga Codium fragile. The optical resolution of compounds 13 by chiral HPLC successfully afforded individual enantiomers (+)-1/(–)-1, (+)-2/(–)-2, and (+)-3/(–)-3, respectively. The structures of all these compounds were established on the basis of detailed interpretation of their NMR and mass spectroscopic data. X-ray crystallographic analysis confirmed the structures of compounds 13, while the absolute configurations were determined by TDDFT-ECD calculations. All these compounds containing a N-methoxy group which is uncommon in indolediketopiperazines. The enantiomers, (+)-2/(–)-2, showed different antimicrobial activities against several plant-pathogenic fungi, while (+)-1 displayed better inhibitory activity against acetylcholinesterase than that of (–)-1.  相似文献

Natural products are very important sources for the development of new pesticides. Osthole, derived from many medical plants such as Cnidium, Angelica and Citrus plants, is a naturally occurring coumarin compound. To discover the new natural products-based insecticides, thirty-one osthole-based esters containing O-acyl-hydroxylamine groups were prepared, and their structures were identified by different spectral analysis methods. Derivatives A7, A17, A20 and A25 displayed more potent growth inhibitory (GI) activity than the botanical insecticide, toosendanin. Over half of target osthole derivatives had more effective larvicidal effect on P. xylostella than toosendanin. Among all title derivatives, compound A18 displayed more pronounced larvicidal activity (LC50 = 0.64 μmol mL−1) when compared with toosendanin (LC50 = 0.94 μmol mL−1). Some interesting results of structure–activity relationships (SARs) of these osthole derivatives were also discussed. In addition, the hemolysis and cytotoxicity assays indicated that these osthole derivatives showed very low toxicity toward normal mammalian cells.  相似文献

Three new naturally occurring monoterpenoids, japopenoid A (1), japopenoid B (23) japopenoid C (24), and one new caffeoylquinic acid derivative (28), together with thirty-one known compounds (222, 2527, 2935), were isolated and identified from the flower buds of Lonicera japonica Thunb. Their structures were determined by extensive 1D and 2D NMR spectroscopic methods, high-resolution mass spectrometry, and the absolute configurations of 1, 23, 24 were determined by comparison of their electronic circular dichroism (ECD) spectrum with literature and theoretical calculation. Structurally, compound 1 is a monoterpenoid featured with an unusual tricyclic skeleton. All compounds (135) were evaluated for their cytotoxicities against human liver cancer cell lines (HepG 2 and SMMC-7721). Compound 12 exhibited the most potent activity with IC50 values of 26.54 ± 1.95 and 8.72 ± 1.57 μg/ml against HepG 2 and SMMC-7721, and the IC50 values of compound 13 were 26.54 ± 1.95 and 12.35 ± 1.43 μg/ml, respectively. Western blot results further proved that compound 13 induces hepatoma cell apoptosis via the intrinsic apoptosis pathway. In addition, most terpenoids showed inhibitory activity against HBsAg and HBeAg secretion, and HBV DNA replication. In particular, 25 μg/mlof compound 11 inhibits HBsAg and HBeAg secretion, and HBV DNA replication by 39.39 ± 5.25, 15.64 ± 1.25, and 16.13 ± 4.10% compared to the control (p < 0.05). These results indicated that L. japonica flower buds could be served as functional food for anti-hepatoma and anti-HBV activities.  相似文献
