We studied the psychophysiology of soluble intercellular adhesion molecule-1 (sICAM-1) in 25 apparently healthy middle-aged men who underwent an acute psychosocial stressor three times with one week apart. Measures of the biological stress response were obtained at week one and three. The magnitude of the sICAM-1 stress response showed no habituation between individual visits. At week one, cognitive stress appraisal independently predicted integrated sICAM-1 area under the curve (AUC) between rest, immediately post-stress, and 45 min and 105 min post-stress (beta=0.67, p=0.012, deltaR(2)=0.41). Diastolic blood pressure AUC (beta=-0.45, p=0.048, deltaR(2)=0.21) and heart rate AUC (beta=0.44, p=0.055, deltaR(2)=0.21) were independent predictors of sICAM-1 AUC at week three. Adjustment for hemoconcentration yielded a decrease in sICAM-1 levels from rest to post-stress (p<0.001). Stress responsiveness of plasma sICAM-1 was predicted by stress perception and hemodynamic reactivity and affected by stress-hemoconcentration but unrelated to cortisol reactivity and not readily adapting to repeated stress.  相似文献

The response of the brown trout to a single, short ( c . 1 min) incidence of handling stress was monitored for a period of 1 month post-stress. Significant changes were found in feeding behaviour, in the levels of plasma cortisol, glucose and lactate, in the concentration of circulating lymphocytes and in the degree of epidermal mucification. No changes were detected in the growth rate and coefficient of condition, in the levels of plasma thyroxine, in the concentrations of circulating erythrocytes, neutrophils and thrombocytes or in the thickness of the epidermis. The time-course for recovery of each parameter was examined and from this it was concluded that a minimum of 2 weeks was required for complete recovery and a return to normality.  相似文献

We studied the recovery of multitask performance and sleepiness from acute partial sleep deprivation through rest pauses embedded in performance sessions and an 8 h recovery sleep opportunity the following night. Sixteen healthy men, aged 19–22 yrs, participated in normal sleep (two successive nights with 8 h sleep) and sleep debt (one 2 h night sleep followed by an 8 h sleep the following night) conditions. In both conditions, the participants performed four 70 min multitask sessions, with every other one containing a 10 min rest pause with light neck‐shoulder exercise. The multitask consisted of four simultaneously active subtasks, with the level of difficulty set in relation to each participant's ability. Physiological sleepiness was assessed with continuous electroencephalography/electro‐oculography recordings during the multitask sessions, and subjective sleepiness was self‐rated with the Karolinska Sleepiness Scale. Results showed that multitask performance and physiological and subjective sleepiness were impaired by the sleep debt (p>.001). The rest pause improved performance and subjective sleepiness for about 15 min, regardless of the amount of prior sleep (p>.01–.05). Following recovery sleep, all outcome measures showed marked improvement (p<.001), but they failed to reach the levels observed in the control condition (p<.001–.05). A correlation analysis showed the participants whose multitask performance deteriorated the most following the night of sleep loss tended to be the same persons whose performance was most impaired following the night of the recovery sleep (p<.001). Taken together, our results suggest that a short rest pause with light exercise is not an effective countermeasure in itself for sleep debt‐induced impairments when long‐term effects are sought. In addition, it seems that shift arrangements that lead to at least a moderate sleep debt should be followed by more than one recovery night to ensure full recovery. Persons whose cognitive performance is most affected by sleep debt are likely to require the most sleep to recover.  相似文献

Our aim was to evaluate the chronic effects of training and competition during a 4-month season on immune response in professional volleyball players. Players took part in an incremental maximal cycling test at the beginning and at the end of the season. As control group, subjects with regular recreational activity were selected. Blood samples were obtained at rest, immediately after the exercise test, and after 30 min recovery. Volleyball players have similar basal levels of erythrocytes, hematocrit, hemoglobin, and total protein and urate than controls and higher levels of creatinine and activities of AST, ALT, and GGT. Maximal incremental exercise test significantly increased erythrocyte counts, hematocrit, and blood hemoglobin levels in volleyball players. T- and B-lymphocytes significantly increased after exercise test and were maintained high during recovery. Cortisol levels were significantly increased immediately after exercise and during recovery with respect to basal values. Basal and post-exercise cortisol levels were significantly higher at the final of season than at the beginning. Serum levels of immunoglobulins (IgG, IgA, and IgM) and complement fractions (C3, C4) were unaffected by the volleyball season. The IgG and IgM levels were significantly higher after exercise and recovery than basal levels. Maximal exercise test induced an acute phase/inflammatory response characterized by increased circulating lymphocytes, antibody response, and cortisol levels. Competition season increases cortisol concentration indicative of accumulated stress intensity.  相似文献

Rats were stressed by immobilization for 3 hrs daily for 11 days and either sacrificed immediately after the last stress session (chronic stress group) or allowed to recover for 12 days and then sacrificed (recovery group). After 11 days of stress, leukocytes and lymphocytes were significantly decreased and neutrophils and large granular lymphocytes were markedly increased. The number of total, helper and suppressor T cells was significantly decreased but the percentage of T cells remained unchanged. Natural Killer (NK) cell activity was unaffected. After a 12 day recovery period from stress, the number of leukocytes returned to normal but the percentage of neutrophils was now below baseline whereas the percentages of lymphocytes and large granular lymphocytes had increased significantly. The number and percentage of total T cells and helper T cells was enhanced and NK cell activity tended to be increased. Thus, chronic stress as well as recovery from stress can affect individual components of the cellular immune system quite selectively and differently. In addition, a comparison of the effects of stress seen in this study with healthy rats with those seen under identical conditions in tumor bearing rats shows that stress or recovery from stress can affect the immune system differently in healthy or tumor bearing animals.  相似文献

The present study aimed to investigate the effects of shift work on sleep among pilots and Helicopter Emergency Medical Service crew members (HCM) in the Norwegian Air Ambulance. Sleep was assessed by diaries and actigraphy during a workweek (24 h duty for 7 consecutive days) in the winter season and a workweek during the summer season in pilots and HCM (N = 50). Additionally, differences in sleep were studied between the week before work, the workweek, and the week after work in both seasons. Results indicated that bedtime was later (p <.001) and time spent in bed (p <.05) was shorter during the summer, compared to the winter, season. The workers delayed the sleep period in the workweek, compared to the week before (winter: p <.001, summer: p <.001) and the week after (winter: p <.05-.001, summer: p <.001). They spent more time in bed during the workweek, compared to the week before (winter: p <.001, summer: p <.01) and after (winter: p <.001, summer: p =.37). Further, the workers had longer wake after sleep onset during the workweek, compared to the week before (winter: p <.001, summer: p <.01) and the week after (winter: p <.01, summer: p <.01). Finally, the workers had lower sleep efficiency during the workweek recorded by actigraphy compared to the week before (winter: p <.01, summer: p <.001) and the week after (winter: p <.01, summer: p <.001). According to the sleep diaries the total sleep time was 7:17 h in the winter and 7:03 h in the summer season. Overall, the sleep was somewhat affected during the workweek, with delayed sleep period, longer wake after sleep onset, and lower sleep efficiency compared to when off work. However, the workers spent more time in bed during the workweek compared to the weeks off, and they obtained over 7 h of sleep in both workweeks. Our findings suggest that the pilots and the HCM sleep well during the workweek, although it affected their sleep to some extent.  相似文献

Leukocyte and platelet margination within microvasculature of rabbit lungs   总被引:2,自引:0,他引:2  
These studies compare the behavior of radiolabeled neutrophils, monocytes, lymphocytes, and platelets during their first pass through the pulmonary circulation after a central venous injection and their distribution within the circulation 10 min later. Their first pass through the pulmonary circulation was compared with erythrocytes (RBCs) using the indicator-dilution technique, and their recovery within the circulation of the lung and other organs was determined at 10 min by counting the radioisotopes in each organ. The extraction of each cell relative to RBCs during the first pass through the lung correlated with cell size in that the neutrophils (volume 107-140 fl) showed 97.6 +/- 0.6% extraction, monocytes (volume 80-105 fl) showed 91.4 +/- 1.7% extraction, lymphocytes (volume 36-75 fl) showed 80.1 +/- 4.4% extraction, and platelets (volume 4-7 fl) showed 33.1 +/- 3.9% extraction. After 10 min of circulation, the proportion of injected cells remaining in the lung was similar for neutrophils and monocytes (27.4 +/- 1.8 vs. 31.4 +/- 1.6%) but lower for lymphocytes (18.6 +/- 2.9%) and platelets (3.1 +/- 0.5%). All of the leukocytes were found to have a substantial marginated pool within the lung, whereas the platelets did not. The exchange between the circulating and marginated pools of leukocytes in the lung was related to blood velocity, with the least retention occurring in lung regions with shortest RBC transit times. To better understand sleep quality and sleepiness problems offshore, we examined courses of sleep quality and sleepiness in full 2-weeks on/2-weeks off offshore day shift rotations by comparing pre-offshore (1 week), offshore (2 weeks) and post-offshore (1 week) work periods. A longitudinal observational study was conducted among N=42 offshore workers. Sleep quality was measured subjectively with two daily questions and objectively with actigraphy, measuring: time in bed (TIB), total sleep time (TST), sleep latency (SL) and sleep efficiency percentage (SE%). Sleepiness was measured twice a day (morning and evening) with the Karolinska Sleepiness Scale. Changes in sleep and sleepiness parameters during the pre/post and offshore work periods were investigated using (generalized) linear mixed models. In the pre-offshore work period, courses of SE% significantly decreased (p=.038). During offshore work periods, the courses of evening sleepiness scores significantly increased (p<.001) and significantly decreased during post-offshore work periods (p=.004). During offshore work periods, TIB (p<.001) and TST (p<.001) were significantly shorter, SE% was significantly higher (p=.002), perceived sleep quality was significantly lower (p<.001) and level of rest after wake was significantly worse (p<.001) than during the pre- and post-offshore work periods. Morning sleepiness was significantly higher during offshore work periods (p=.015) and evening sleepiness was significantly higher in the post-offshore work period (p=.005) compared to the other periods. No significant changes in SL were observed. Courses of sleep quality and sleepiness parameters significantly changed during full 2-weeks on/2-weeks off offshore day shift rotation periods. These changes should be considered in offshore fatigue risk management programmes.  相似文献

The 10 min psychomotor vigilance task (PVT) is commonly used in laboratory studies to assess the impact of sleep loss, sustained wakefulness, and/or time of day on neurobehavioral performance. In field settings, though, it may be impractical for participants to perform a test of this length. The aim of this study was to identify a performance measure that is sensitive to the effects of fatigue but less burdensome than a 10 min test. Sixteen participants (11 female, 5 male; mean age=21.7 years) slept in the sleep laboratory overnight then remained awake for 28 h from 08:00 h. During every second hour, participants completed three PVTs of differing duration (10 min, 5 min, 90 sec). For the 5 min/10 min comparison, ANOVA indicated that response time was significantly affected by test length (F1,14=26.9, p<.001) and hours of wakefulness (F13,182=46.1, p<.001) but not by their interaction (F13,182=1.7, ns). There was a strong correlation between response time on the 5 and 10 min PVTs (r=.88, p<.001). For the 90 sec/10 min comparison, ANOVA indicated that response time was significantly affected by test length (F1,14=65.9, p<.001) and hours of wakefulness (F13,182=29.7, p<.001) as well as by their interaction (F13,182=6.0, p<.001). There was a strong correlation between response time on the 90 sec and 10 min PVTs (r=.77, p<.001). The effects of hours of wakefulness on neurobehavioral performance were similar for the 5 min and 10 min PVTs. In contrast, performance on the 90 sec PVT was less affected by hours of wakefulness than on the 10 min PVT. In addition, performance on the 10 min PVT was more highly correlated with the 5 min PVT than the 90 sec PVT. These data indicate that the 5 min PVT may provide a reasonable substitute for the 10 min PVT in circumstances where a test shorter than 10 min is required.  相似文献

Fifteen β-thalassemia intermedia patients, not requiring chronic transfusional therapy, were monitored in order to check their antioxidant status, and the lipid oxidation products in plasma, LDL, and erythrocytes before and during a 9-month oral treatment with 600 mg/day vitamin E. The low level of vitamin E, and high level of malondialdehyde in plasma clearly tended to normalize after three months (P<.001), and were quite similar to control after six months. The abnormally low level of vitamin E in LDL and the four times higher than control basal level of conjugated dienes (LDL-CD), were not modified after three months of treatment. Significant changes of LDL-VE (P<.05) and of the basal LDL-CD (P<.001) were evident after six months. LDL-VE was within the normal range after nine months, whereas LDL-CD still appeared twice as higher than control.

Plasma vitamin A, ascorbate, β-carotene, and lycopene increased markedly at the end of the trial (P<.005).

The level of vitamin E in red blood cells was normalized after six months of supplementation. A decrease of the baseline value of conjugated dienes was observed after nine months, although it remained 1.4-fold higher than control. The RBC count and hematocrit appeared higher at the end of the trial (P<.05 and P<.001, respectively). The hemoglobin value did not show variations. A shift to normal of the resistance of erythrocytes to osmotic lysis was observed.

Our findings provide evidence that an oral treatment with vitamin E improves the antioxidant/oxidant balance in plasma, LDL particles, and red blood cells, and counteracts lipid peroxidation processes in β-thalassemia intermedia patients.  相似文献

Effects of cycle ergometer exercise (approximately 75% maximum ventilatory O2 consumption for 30 min) on the concentrations of zinc and related proteins in erythrocytes and/or plasma were studied on 11 sedentary male students. Lower concentrations of total zinc and of zinc derived from carbonic anhydrase I type (CA-I) in erythrocytes were observed immediately after exercise, but they disappeared after 30 min of rest. The change in total zinc concentration in erythrocytes correlated well with that in CA-I concentration immediately after exercise, as well as after rest. The concentration of carbonic anhydrase II type (CA-II)-derived zinc did not vary substantially at any time. On the other hand, there were significant increases in the plasma concentrations of total zinc and of alpha 2-macroglobulin (alpha 2-MG)-bound zinc immediately after exercise, whereas no such effect was noted in albumin-bound zinc. A positive correlation was found between total zinc and alpha 2-MG concentrations in plasma immediately after exercise. In addition, the change in the activity of alkaline phosphatase, a zinc metalloenzyme, correlated well with that in the total zinc concentration in plasma. These results suggest that a brief physical exercise induces the movement of zinc into plasma.  相似文献

We investigated the effects of quercetin (Q) on some hematological parameters and determined the percentage of alpha-naphthyl acetate esterase (ANAE) positive lymphocytes in rats that had been exposed to cadmium (Cd). Thirty male Wistar albino rats were divided into four groups: control (C), quercetin (Q), cadmium (Cd) and Q + Cd (CdQ). Blood samples were taken to assess erythrocytes (RBC), leukocytes (WBC), hemoglobin levels (Hb), hematocrit values (Hct), platelets (PLT), alpha-naphthyl acetate esterase (ANAE) positive lymphocytes. RBC, Hb, Hct; the number of PLT significantly decreased in the Cd group. To the contrary, these parameters were increased significantly in the CdQ group compared to the Cd group. Although we found a significant increase in total WBC count and neutrophil percentage, the number of lymphocytes decreased in the Cd group compared to the other three groups. Also, the percentage of peripheral blood ANAE positive lymphocytes decreased significantly in the Cd group (p < 0.05). Q exhibits positive effects on some hematological characteristics and the percentage of ANAE positive lymphocyte in cases of acute CD toxicity.  相似文献

Intense exercise leads to post-exercise lymphocytopenia and immunosuppression, possibly by triggering lymphocyte apoptosis. To test the role of oxidative stress on exercise-induced lymphocyte apoptosis, we administered the antioxidant N-acetyl--cysteine (NAC) and measured apoptosis in intestinal lymphocytes (IL) from exhaustively exercised animals. Eighty-seven female C57BL/6 mice were randomly assigned to receive NAC (1 g/kg) or saline 30 min prior to treadmill exercise for 90 min at 2degrees slope (30 min at 22 m min(-1), 30 min at 25 m min(-1), and 30 min at 28 m min(-1)) and sacrificed immediately (Imm) or 24 hours (24 h) after cessation of exercise. Control mice (nonexercised) were exposed to treadmill noise and vibration without running. Exercise increased IL phosphatidylserine externalization (p<0.001), mitochondrial membrane depolarization (p<0.05), and decreased intracellular glutathione concentrations (p<0.05) immediately following exercise in saline relative to nonexercised mice. At 24 h post-exercise, saline injected mice had fewer total (p<0.001) and CD3+ (p<0.005) IL compared to nonexercised animals. NAC injection in mice maintained intracellular glutathione levels, prevented phosphatidylserine externalization, mitochondrial membrane depolarization, and loss of IL immediately and 24 h after exercise. These data suggest that lymphocyte apoptosis precedes post-exercise lymphocytopenia and may be due to oxidative stress.  相似文献

Cardiopulmonary, hemocytologic and biochemical effects of xylazine in goats   总被引:1,自引:0,他引:1  
Intramuscular administration of xylazine at the rate of 0.22 mg/kg body weight caused a significant reduction in respiratory rates. Mean arterial blood pressure and rectal temperature were not altered. Preadministration of atropine did not affect the depth and pattern of respiration; however, the heart rate increased. A significant reduction in pH and arterial oxygen tension and an increase in carbon dioxide tension was observed after xylazine and xylazine following atropine treatment. Hemocytologic changes included a decrease in total erythrocytes, leukocytes, hematocrit and hemoglobin concentration and a rise in neutrophils with relative decrease in lymphocytes. Biochemical changes included a slight rise in potassium and a decrease in sodium concentration. Glucose level was significantly increased at maximum depth of sedation. The changes in hemocytologic and biochemical parameters returned to near preadministration level in 24-72 hours. No alteration was observed in the electrocardiogram. Xylazine was well tolerated, and the sedation was rapid in onset and lasted for about 30 minutes. The recovery was uneventful.  相似文献

The binding of [3H]cytochalasin B (CB) to intact cells was compared in lymphocytes, polymorphonuclear leukocytes (PMNLs) and erythrocytes over a broad range of cytochalasin concentrations. Binding curves consistent with the presence of high and low affinity binding sites were demonstrated in all three cell types. However, in contrast to observations in erythrocytes, in lymphocytes and PMNLs CB binding was unaffected by d-glucose. p-Hydroxymercuribenzoate and p-hydroxymercurisulfonate were only partially inhibitory and unlabeled cytochalasins E, D and A (CE, CD, CA) inhibited [3H]CB binding more effectively than unlabeled CB. While attempts to demonstrate that plasma membrane-rich subcellular fractions from lymphocytes selectively bind [3H]CB were inconclusive, radioautographic studies on unbroken cells indicated that most or all of the high affinity CB-binding sites in lymphocytes and PMNLs were in close proximity to the cell surface.  相似文献

Angiotensin (Ang) II induces oxidative stress in vitro and in animal models of hypertension. We tested the hypothesis that Ang II increases oxidative stress in human hypertension, as assessed by plasma F2-isoprostane concentrations. Plasma F2-isoprostanes, hemodynamic and endocrine parameters were measured at baseline and following a 55 min infusion of 3 ng/kg/min Ang II in 13 normotensive and 13 hypertensive volunteers ingesting a high- (200 mmol/d) or low- (10 mmol/d) sodium diet. Mean arterial pressure (MAP) and body mass index were higher in hypertensive subjects. Ang II infusion increased MAP (p<.001) and plasma aldosterone concentrations (p<.001) and decreased plasma renin activity (p<.001) and renal plasma flow (p<.001) to a similar extent in both groups. Plasma F2-isoprostane concentrations were similar at baseline. There was no effect of Ang II on F2-isoprostane concentrations during low-salt intake in either group (normotensive 51.7 +/- 7.1 to 53.7 +/- 6.5 pg/ml and hypertensive 52.2 +/- 8.2 to 56.2 +/- 10.0 pg/ml; mean +/- SE). During high-salt intake, Ang II increased F2-isoprostane concentrations in the hypertensive group (52.3 +/- 7.2 to 63.2 +/- 10.4 pg/ml, p=0.010) but not in the normotensive group (54.2 +/- 4.4 to 58.9 +/- 6.6 pg/ml, p=0.83). Acute Ang II infusion increases oxidative stress in vivo in hypertensive humans. The renin-angiotensin system may contribute to oxidative stress in human cardiovascular disease.  相似文献

We tested the hypothesis that usual exercise oxidative stress strongly affects erythrocytes viability. A 120-min physical exercise with progressive intensity was used as a model of oxidative stress. FT-IR spectrometry was used to determine structural changes in erythrocyte contents (phospholipids, proteins, lactate, and glucose) from blood samples taken every 20 min. Carbonyl formation from amino acid residues (P = 0.03) and hemoglobin unfolding (P = 0.01) could be identified as main protein denaturation markers during oxidative stress. Higher unsaturation level (P = 0.001) in phospholipids fatty acyl chains were also observed while VO(2) increased (P < 0.05). The increase in lactacidosis affected primarily hemoglobin unfolding (P = 0.02). Finally, two distinct cellular events occurred during oxidative stress: 1 - phospholipids peroxidation correlated to VO(2), but lactacidosis and hemoconcentration remained secondary factors; 2 - hemoglobin denaturation was mainly observed through unfolding and carbonylation, and lactacidosis and hemoconcentration were important contributing factors.  相似文献

Twitch tension and phosphate incorporation into the phosphorylatable light chains (P-light chains) of myosin were studied during a 10-min recovery period following a 10- or 60-s maximal voluntary isometric contraction (MVC) in 18 subjects. Analysis of muscle biopsy samples obtained before, immediately after, 1 min, and 10 min following the 10-s MVC revealed that the 10-s MVC produced a modest but transient metabolic displacement from rest, a 35% decrease in phosphocreatine, and a threefold elevation in lactate concentration. Immediately after the 60-s MVC, ATP was decreased by 20%, phosphocreatine decreased by 84%, and lactate was elevated by 15-fold. Lactate remained elevated over the 10-min recovery period. Twitch force was maximally potentiated following the 10-s MVC and declined to rest by 10 min of recovery. Twitch force was 0.66 of rest value immediately after the 60-s MVC, then increased over the next 4 min to reach a potentiated value 21% greater than rest, before declining. Significant phosphate incorporation into P-light chains was observed immediately after both contractions, but dephosphorylation to rest values at the end of recovery was only noted for the 60-s condition. These results demonstrate an inconsistent relationship between twitch tension enhancement and P-light chain phosphorylation in the in vivo human model.  相似文献

Mercury is a heavy metal that can cause a variety of toxic effects on the organism, such as hematological and immunological alterations. In the present investigation, deleterious effects of mercury-intoxication in mice and a possible protective effect of diphenyl diselenide (PhSe)(2) were studied. Male adult Swiss albino mice received daily a pretreatment with (PhSe)(2) (15.6 mg/kg, orally) for 1 week. After this week, mice received daily mercuric chloride (1 mg/kg, subcutaneously) for 2 weeks. A number of hematological (erythrocytes, leukocytes, platelets, hemoglobin, hematocrit, reticulocytes, and leukocytes differential) and immunological (immunoglobulin G and M plasma concentration) parameters were evaluated. Another biomarker of tissue damage, lactate dehydrogenase (LDH), was also determined. The results demonstrated that mercury exposure caused a reduction in the erythrocyte, hematocrit, hemoglobin, leukocyte, and platelet counts and an increase in the reticulocyte percentages. (PhSe)(2) was effective in protecting against the reduction in hematocrit, hemoglobin, and leukocyte levels. (PhSe)(2) ameliorated reticulocyte percentages increased by mercury. However, (PhSe)(2) was partially effective in preventing against the decrease in erythrocyte and platelet counts. Immunoglobulin G and M concentrations and LDH activity were increased by mercury exposure, and (PhSe)(2) was effective in protecting against these effects. In conclusion, (PhSe)(2) was effective in protecting against hematological and immunological alterations induced by mercury in mice.  相似文献

The objective was to determine stress related factors and nutritional indices affecting the nitrogen balance (NB) and the creatinine height index (CHI) in critically ill children on early enteral nutrition (EEN). Seventy-one consecutively enrolled critically ill children aged 2 to 204 months, requiring prolonged mechanical ventilation, were studied. All patients were on early intragastric nutrition (Nutrison Pediatric or Standard) from day 1 (energy intake equal to 1/2, 1, 5/4, 6/4 and 6/4 of the predicted basal metabolic rate on days 1-5, respectively). Nitrogen balance and CHI changes determined efficacy. Study patients had severe depletion of somatic protein status on stress day 1 (CHI <60%) but they reached the normal range of somatic protein status at the end of the EEN, on post-stress day 5 (CHI >80%, p <.004). On day 1, none of the patients had positive NB but after 5 days of EEN, 44 (62%) had positive NB and only 27 (38%) had negative NB (p <.0001). Multivariate stepwise regression analysis showed that only the difference of daily given-recommended dietary allowances protein and the total repleted energy were positively correlated (r(2) =.47, p <.001 and r(2) = 34, p =.003, respectively) and multiple organ system failure negatively correlated with the NB (r(2) = -.24, p <.03) on the 5th day of the EEN protocol. Our data suggest that achievement of positive protein and energy balance in relation to the basic metabolic rate using an aggressive EEN protocol improves NB during the acute phase of stress in 2/3 of critically ill children.  相似文献
