Closed drainage is recommended for all patients after prostatectomy where hemostasis has been adequate. Although closed drainage can maintain sterility of the bladder, thereby fostering healing and reducing infectious complications, such drainage is not insisted upon at most hospitals because of the inconveniences associated with it. However, when closed drainage was used in 25 consecutive cases of transurethral resection, infection was reduced to 25 per cent (in contrast to the 85 to 100 per cent encountered with open drainage).The ideal closed system should incorporate:1. Fixed tubing to prevent contamination where the catheter joins the tubing and where the tubing is attached to the container;2. An aseptic method of emptying;3. A device to prevent reflux of the potentially contaminated urine in the container into the bladder;4. Free urinary flow from bladder to container; and5. Portability for the patient and convenience for the staff.A system is proposed that incorporates these features. Particularly effective are a fixed drip chamber with vents at the site of attachment of the tubing to the bag and a protected spigot for emptying.  相似文献

In mountainous areas, cold air drainage from high to low elevations has pronounced effects on local temperature, which is a critical driver of many ecosystem processes, including carbon uptake and storage. Here, we leverage new approaches for interpreting ecosystem carbon flux observations in complex terrain to quantify the links between macro‐climate condition, drainage flows, local microclimate, and ecosystem carbon cycling in a southern Appalachian valley. Data from multiple long‐running climate stations and multiple eddy covariance flux towers are combined with simple models for ecosystem carbon fluxes. We show that cold air drainage into the valley suppresses local temperature by several degrees at night and for several hours before and after sunset, leading to reductions in growing season respiration on the order of ~8%. As a result, we estimate that drainage flows increase growing season and annual net carbon uptake in the valley by >10% and >15%, respectively, via effects on microclimate that are not be adequately represented in regional‐ and global‐scale terrestrial ecosystem models. Analyses driven by chamber‐based estimates of soil and plant respiration reveal cold air drainage effects on ecosystem respiration are dominated by reductions to the respiration of aboveground biomass. We further show that cold air drainage proceeds more readily when cloud cover and humidity are low, resulting in the greatest enhancements to net carbon uptake in the valley under clear, cloud‐free (i.e., drought‐like) conditions. This is a counterintuitive result that is neither observed nor predicted outside of the valley, where nocturnal temperature and respiration increase during dry periods. This result should motivate efforts to explore how topographic flows may buffer eco‐physiological processes from macroscale climate change.  相似文献

2006年11月和2007年1月通过金属和生物指标的量化监测,就酸性矿山废水对大型底栖动物群落结构的影响及高岚河污染现状进行研究。典型对应分析表明:酸性废水对高岚河上游大型底栖动物群落结构影响最大。对高岚河大型底栖动物群落结构和功能摄食类群进行分析,研究硫铁矿酸性矿山废水对河流大型底栖动物群落的影响,结果表明:高岚河自矿源起约16km河段,大型底栖动物群落结构已经遭到严重破坏;多足摇蚊Polypedilum tritum和真凯氏摇蚊Eukiefferiellab rehmi对酸和金属均具有较强的耐受力;捕食者和刮食者对矿山酸性废水带来的污染反应最为敏感。逐步回归分析表明:大型底栖动物生物多样性受Al、Ca、Cd、Fe、Mg、Mn等金属影响最大;密度受Ca、Cr和Mg的影响最大。  相似文献

Conservation genetics is a powerful tool to assess the population structure of species and provides a framework for informing management of freshwater ecosystems. As lotic habitats become fragmented, the need to assess gene flow for species of conservation management becomes a priority. The eastern hellbender (Cryptobranchus alleganiensis alleganiensis) is a large, fully aquatic paedamorphic salamander. Many populations are experiencing declines throughout their geographic range, yet the genetic ramifications of these declines are currently unknown. To this end, we examined levels of genetic variation and genetic structure at both range-wide and drainage (hierarchical) scales. We collected 1,203 individuals from 77 rivers throughout nine states from June 2007 to August 2011. Levels of genetic diversity were relatively high among all sampling locations. We detected significant genetic structure across populations (Fst values ranged from 0.001 between rivers within a single watershed to 0.218 between states). We identified two genetically differentiated groups at the range-wide scale: 1) the Ohio River drainage and 2) the Tennessee River drainage. An analysis of molecular variance (AMOVA) based on landscape-scale sampling of basins within the Tennessee River drainage revealed the majority of genetic variation (∼94–98%) occurs within rivers. Eastern hellbenders show a strong pattern of isolation by stream distance (IBSD) at the drainage level. Understanding levels of genetic variation and differentiation at multiple spatial and biological scales will enable natural resource managers to make more informed decisions and plan effective conservation strategies for cryptic, lotic species.  相似文献

Abstract. An overview of the vegetation history of Calthion palustris meadows is presented with special emphasis on the natural habitats of the character species. The response of meadow species under the influence of drainage was calculated using species-environment response curve techniques. The changes were monitored in permanent plots situated on sites with various intensities of drainage. The similarity with an undisturbed local reference type of the hay meadow community was calculated for all plots and years. On this basis a half-life time of the Calthion palustris stands could be assessed. The half-life time was small in the plots which are most affected by drainage. The response to drainage of character species of the Calthion palustris was very different. This imposes problems for some definitions of the community concept.  相似文献

Quantification of drainage and nitrate leaching from cropping systems is necessary to optimize N-fertilizer application and determine the impact on groundwater quality. The objectives of this work were to (i) assess the use of capacitance probes for the continuous determination of the volume of drainage water and the amount of nitrate leached in a crop production system, and (ii) compare the effect of different N-fertilizer strategies to control nitrate leaching in a crop rotation in humid Mediterranean climate. A factorial (control and three fertilizer strategies) experiment was conducted during three cropping seasons in Navarra (Spain). Wheat (Triticum aestivum L.) was planted in 2002, barley (Hordeum vulgare L.) in 2003, and rapeseed (Brassica napus L.) in 2004. Daily soil water content measurements based on capacitance probes were used to calculate drainage at 1 m depth, by applying the water balance equation. Nitrate leaching was calculated as the drainage volume multiplied by the nitrate concentration of the soil solution extracted in ceramic cups. The results revealed distinct behaviour in three crop phases, viz.: (i) from planting to GS-25, with high risk of drainage and nitrate leaching, (ii) from GS-25 to the end of the drainage period, with little drainage and leaching, and (iii) from then to harvest, when no drainage or nitrate leaching took place. Drainage and soil mineral N content before planting were the main factors determining the amount of N leached. Splitting N-fertilizer application and the use of nitrification inhibitors are not likely to have a significant impact on subsequent N-leaching losses, provided that the N-fertilizer application is adjusted to crop N needs corrected by soil N supply.  相似文献

Pancreatic pseudocyst, the most common cystic lesion of the pancreas, is a localized collection of fluid rich in amylase within or adjacent to the pancreas and enclosed by a nonepithelialized wall, occurring as a result of acute or chronic pancreatitis, pancreatic trauma, or pancreatic duct obstruction. Currently, at least 3 major forms of therapy are available: percutaneous drainage, surgical intervention, and endoscopic drainage. Controversy exists concerning which of these techniques should be offered to the patient as initial therapy. Three options exist for the surgical management of pancreatic pseudocysts: excision, external drainage, and internal drainage. Surgery, which traditionally was the major treatment approach for pancreatic pseudocysts, has been challenged by newer endoscopic techniques. Given the low complication and mortality rates and the high success rate of endoscopic drainage when compared with surgery, surgical intervention should be reserved only for certain cases. Addition of endoscopic ultrasonography (EUS) for endoscopic drainage is a new and exciting development and may decrease the risks associated with endoscopic drainage. We report our experience of 14 cases of EUS-guided pancreatic pseudocyst drainage and review the literature for advantages and disadvantages of these pancreatic pseudocyst drainage procedures. Complications, recurrence, success, and mortality rates for each procedure are described. Our approach to pancreatic pseudocyst management is described in the form of an algorithm.  相似文献

We are using a 20+ year photographic history of relatively undisturbed and formerly diked sites to predict the restoration trajectories and equilibrium size of a 4,050 ha salt marsh on Delaware Bay, New Jersey (USA). The project was initiated to offset the loss of finfishes from once-through cooling at a local power plant. We used a simple food chain model to estimate the required restoration size. This model assumed that annual macrophyte detritus production and benthic algal production resulted in production of finfishes, including certain species of local interest. Because the marsh surface and intertidal drainage system are used by many finfishes and are the focal points for exchange of detrital materials, the restoration planning focused on both vegetational and hydrogeomorphological parameters. Recolonization bySpartina spp. and other desirable taxa will be promoted by returning a natural hydroperiod and drainage configuration to two types of degraded salt marsh: diked salt hay (Spartina patens) farms and brackish marsh dominated byPhragmites australis. The criteria for success of the project address two questions: What is the “bound of expectation” for restoration success, and how long will it take to get there? Measurements to be made are macrophyte production, vegetation composition, benthic algal production, and drainage features including stream order, drainage density, channel length, bifurcation ratios and sinuosity. A method for combining these individual parameters into a single success index is also presented. Finally, we developed adaptive management thresholds and corrective measures to guide the restoration process.  相似文献

全球气候变化对水循环具有重要影响,其中极端降水的变化,对城市排水系统产生巨大冲击,造成城市内涝、交通瘫痪及生命财产损失等问题。为了揭示我国极端降水变化的趋势和区域特征,及其对城市排水系统的压力程度,使用中国气象数据中心1951—2014年全国917个站点的逐日降水量,计算得到我国极端降水及其变化趋势的空间分布特征。并以我国289个主要地级城市为研究对象,构建了气候变化情景下的城市排水压力评估方法,预测并展望了不同时段和不同代表性浓度路径(RCPs)情景下,未来城市的排水压力情况。结果表明,我国极端降水整体上正随着全球气候变化而增加,全国年最大降水量变化速度的平均值为0.06mm/a,但并不是所有区域都具有一致性,具体表现为南部极端降水增加而北部缓解的规律。我国排水压力大的城市主要分布在南部和东北地区,城市排水基础设施完善的东部和极端降水量比较小的西部地区城市排水压力比较低,华北地区极端降水的随机性大,历史上出现的最大降水显著高于该地区常见大雨,也属于内涝风险比较大的区域。随着气候变化的影响,我国未来城市排水压力整体上升,城市未来短期排水压力相对于现有水平总体上升2.9%,具体75个城市的排水压力有所增加明显。且低应对的RCP8.5情景显著高于高应对的RCP2.6情景,这说明减缓气候变化的工作对降低我国城市内涝风险有比较大的积极意义。我国城市排水压力的变化也具有区域性,华北地区极端降水呈现减少的趋势,南部地区极端降水呈现增加趋势,加重了该地区原本就很高的城市内涝风险,需要政府采取积极措施提出有针对性的方案和考虑了气候变化的前瞻性城市排水规划,以降低城市排水压力,尽量减少城市内涝造成的经济损失。  相似文献

Question: We studied vegetation succession after drainage in a bog, as an analogue for potential persistent water table drawdown due to climate change. We asked: (1) how does bog vegetation change following a long‐term water table lowering and (2) how are effects of drainage on hydrology and vegetation distributed temporally and spatially? Location: Mer Bleue peatland, Ontario, Canada (45.41°N, 75.48°W). Methods: Analyses of changes in vegetation and hydrology associated with drainage were examined spatially along a hydrosequence and temporally using paleoecological reconstructions from peat cores (testate amoebae, pollen) in a drained portion of a peatland untouched for 85 years following drainage. Relationships between modern vegetation and water table were assessed through clustering and ordination analyses of vegetation relevés. Results: Post‐drainage increases in tree cover, especially Betula and Larix, decreases in Sphagnum cover and shifts in species composition of dominant shrubs were observed. Present‐day vegetation patterns along the hydrosequence were primarily related to seasonal variability of water table depth. Paleoecological records reveal that where the present‐day vegetation has been impacted by drainage, persistent water table lowering occurred in response to drainage. However, in an area with relatively natural vegetation, a transient drop in water table depth occurred at the time of drainage. Conclusions: Temporal and spatial patterns revealed that the bog response to drainage was spatially and temporally heterogeneous, and probably mediated by feedbacks among vegetation, peat structure and hydrology. Spatial patterns along the hydrosequence were similar to those observed in paleoecological reconstructions, but the use of the two complementary techniques provides additional insights.  相似文献

The mortality rates from descending necrotizing mediastinitis (DNM) are between 25 and 40 % mainly because of delayed diagnosis and inappropriate surgical treatment. This study was undertaken to examine two surgical options for DNM and determine the optimal surgical option for DNM of the anterior mediastinum. Fifteen cases of DNM of the anterior mediastinum, January 2001 and October 2010, were retrospectively reviewed. Eleven were anterosuperior mediastinitis, with infection located above the tracheal bifurcation and four had infections involving the entire anterior mediastinum. Depending on the location of mediastinitis, open drainage of the submandibular and neck abscesses, in addition to other surgical treatments, was performed. If the infection was anterosuperior, transcervical mediastinal drainage or thoracotomy was performed. If the entire anterior mediastinum was involved, necrotic tissue was removed with thoracoscopic via subxiphoid incision, the bilateral pleurae were opened for drainage, and a tunnel connecting the neck incision and the subxiphoid incision through the whole anterior mediastinum was made for drainage. The anterosuperior mediastinitis cases were treated with either transcervical mediastinal drainage (n = 8) or thoracotomy (n = 3). Patients healed after an average of 24.5 and 20.0 days in the hospital, respectively. For the four other cases, one patient died of septic shock, while the other three patients were healed after and an average of 43.3 days in the hospital. Mortality rate was 6.7 %. The surgical procedure used to treat DNM should be selected according to the location of the infection. DNM involving the anterosuperior mediastinum can be treated by transcervical mediastinal drainage. If anterosuperior mediastinitis spreads to the side of the trachea, open thoracotomy is a suitable therapy. If the entire anterior mediastinum is involved, debridement and drainage of the anterior mediastinum should be performed with a thoracoscope via the subxiphoid incision.  相似文献

A large part of the circulating apolipoprotein A-I (apoA-I) is produced by the intestine. Yet the plasma levels of apoA-I are retained or even increased in rats with thoracic duct drainage (Johansson, B. and Nilsson, A, (1981) FEBS Lett. 130, 305-308 and Franzén, J. et al. (1987) Biochim. Biophys. Acta 918, 11-15). In this study we examined the effects of biliary drainage and of combined biliary and lymphatic drainage on the plasma apoA-I levels, and also the effects of lymphatic drainage on the output of biliary lipids in the rat. 63 h of biliary drainage caused a 40% decrease of the serum apoA-I concentration. In contrast the concentration in rats with combined thoracic duct and biliary drainage was 153% of that in control rats. The biliary secretion of bile acids, phosphatidylcholine and cholesterol declined to a lower level in rats with combined thoracic duct and biliary drainage, but increased at the later time intervals to the same levels as in rats with bile fistulas only. Intravenous chyle infusion 3-36 h after commencing the biliary drainage did not prevent the decrease in biliary lipid output. The study thus provided no evidence that the reduced hepatic inflow of apoB-containing lipoproteins during biliary drainage is of importance for the reduced biliary lipid output. The loss of all the chyle lipoproteins leads, however, to an even more pronounced decrease in the biliary lipid secretion. The drainage of all the chyle constituents also leads to an increased apoA-I synthesis that more than compensates for the apoA-I loss in chyle, whereas biliary drainage only lowers the plasma apoA-I levels.  相似文献

1. The phylogeography of freshwater taxa is often integrally linked with landscape changes such as drainage re‐alignments that may present the only avenue for historical dispersal for these taxa. Classical models of gene flow do not account for landscape changes and so are of little use in predicting phylogeography in geologically young freshwater landscapes. When the history of drainage formation is unknown, phylogeographical predictions can be based on current freshwater landscape structure, proposed historical drainage geomorphology, or from phylogeographical patterns of co‐distributed taxa. 2. This study describes the population structure of a sedentary freshwater fish, the chevron snakehead (Channa striata), across two river drainages on the Indochinese Peninsula. The phylogeographical pattern recovered for C. striata was tested against seven hypotheses based on contemporary landscape structure, proposed history and phylogeographical patterns of co‐distributed taxa. 3. Consistent with the species ecology, analysis of mitochondrial and microsatellite loci revealed very high differentiation among all sampled sites. A strong signature of historical population subdivision was also revealed within the contemporary Mekong River Basin (MRB). Of the seven phylogeographical hypotheses tested, patterns of co‐distributed taxa proved to be the most adequate for describing the phylogeography of C. striata. 4. Results shed new light on SE Asian drainage evolution, indicating that the Middle MRB probably evolved via amalgamation of at least three historically independent drainage sections and in particular that the Mekong River section centred around the northern Khorat Plateau in NE Thailand was probably isolated from the greater Mekong for an extensive period of evolutionary time. In contrast, C. striata populations in the Lower MRB do not show a phylogeographical signature of evolution in historically isolated drainage lines, suggesting drainage amalgamation has been less important for river landscape formation in this region.  相似文献

为了研究河套灌区六排域植物物种多样性。于2010 年8-9月进行调查, 以排沟等级为原则, 在干沟、支沟、斗沟或农沟的上、中、下游设置调查断面, 每断面沿沟道垂直剖面从沟底到边坡共设置0.5 m 0.5 m的草本样方101个、边坡设置5 m 5 m的灌木样方22个, 调查样方内的植物种类和数量。研究结果表明, 河套灌区六排域植物由22个科, 41个属, 43个种组成; 其中禾本科、菊科和豆科植物所占比重最大; 植物群落主要以芦苇为主的草本组成型; 干沟、支沟和斗/农沟的多样性指数、优势度指数、丰富度和均匀度指数值分别为0.79、0.37、3.20和0.55, 0.90、0.54、4.37和0.62, 0.89、0.53、4.25和0.63。随着排沟等级的降低, 多样性指数值随之增加; 边坡较沟底有明显较高的物种多样性。    相似文献

目的:对腹腔镜弹道探查术胆管一期缝合与T管引流的疗效进行分析。方法:对90例患者进行观察随访,其中一期缝合组45人,T管引流组45人,术后对其手术时间、肛门排气时间、腹腔引流时间、术后平均输液量、术后住院时间、住院费用、术后恢复正常生活时间进行统计分析。结果:一期缝合组除手术时间和腹腔引流时间,其他的各项观察指标以及术后并发症均优于T管引流组。结论:腹腔镜胆道探查术胆管一期缝合的疗效比T管引流的疗效较好,术后并发症也少,但是对于不适合做一期缝合而适合T管引流的患者还是应给予T管引流术。  相似文献

Conversion of wetlands in cultivated agricultural landscapes is one of the primary drivers of wetland loss in Alberta, Canada, despite a provincial wetland policy that prioritizes wetland avoidance. While other sectors of the agricultural industry have established initiatives to maintain wetlands, a common narrative within the conventional cropping sector is that wetland retention leads to lost acreage and overlap of crop inputs, and that there are financial benefits associated with wetland drainage. The objective of this research was to explicitly quantify crop productivity within drained wetland basins, in an effort to better understand the extent to which producers financially benefit from drainage practices. Working collaboratively with canola producers in central Alberta over the 2019 growing season, wetland basins within four quarter sections were mapped using an Unmanned Aerial Vehicle, and wetland basins with clear evidence of surface drainage were identified. Agricultural input and yield data provided by producers was then used to quantify profitability within each drained basin. Average profit for drained basins for each producer ranged between ? $145/acre and $76/acre, with an average of $55/acre across all operations. This is compared to an average profit of $203/acre for non-wetland areas across all operations. The results suggest that the financial benefits of drainage are highly variable, and for many drained basins, producers may experience financial losses that may be overlooked when profits are examined only at the field- or operation-level. While this study included a small number of operations, and was limited to one type of crop over a single growing season, the results still provide important insight into the extent to which producers benefit financially from the practice of wetland drainage.

Although catchments have been implicated as an important source of metals to lakes, the catchment contribution of different metals is poorly known, and the anthropogenic contribution is not known at all. We determine the anthropogenic lake sediment burdens of Zn, Cu, Ni, Cr, and Pb for several Quebec and Ontario lakes, not subject to point source loading, to obtain estimates of atmospheric loading and inputs from terrestrial sources. To do this, we first collected multiple cores across 11 lake basins to estimate the whole-lake Pb burdens. As the whole-lake Pb burdens did not differ among lakes that spanned over two orders of magnitude in drainage ratios (drainage basin area/lake area), we conclude that catchment retention of anthropogenic Pb is complete. The anthropogenic Pb burdens were then used as a correction for focusing for the other metals. Among the metals, Cr and Ni were the most readily exported from drainage basins, followed by Cu. Zn showed no increase with drainage ratio, indicating Zn to be effectively retained by catchments. The export coefficients of the Pb corrected metals correlate well with ocean residence time, revealing a similar metal sorption/precipitation sequence in both soils and oceans. Sediment metal burdens provide a relatively easy way to obtain not only metal export coefficients from drainage basins, but also the atmospheric deposition of anthropogenic metals (e.g. Pb: S.E. Quebec, 950 mg*m–2: Laurentians, north of Montreal, 420 mg*m–2). The export coefficients are not only simpler to obtain than by mass balance measurements, but, in addition, identify the anthropogenic component.  相似文献

In recent decades, approaches to evaluating irrigation efficiency have undergone a radical reevaluation. Classical models considered drainage water “lost” to irrigation by flowing out of the system. The recognition that drainage water can remain in the system and become available for use by downstream irrigators has forced the reassessment. Irrigation may be relatively inefficient at the irrigation system and field levels but quite efficient at the basin level. The implications for small-scale, gravity-flow canal systems managed by farmers, which constitute 85% of the world's irrigated area, are significant. These implications are explored in an historic and ethnographic analysis of the chain irrigation system of the Orbigo valley of northwestern Spain. This system of drainage and reuse helps to account for high and sustained agricultural productivity by farmers in the region over several centuries. The property rights institutions devised by farmers to manage this system are discussed and its internal organization compared with south Asian cascade irrigation.This material is based upon work supported by the National Science Foundation under Grant No. DBBS 9122134.

Objective

To investigate the redirection of lymphatic drainage post-lymphadenectomy using non-invasive near-infrared fluorescence (NIRF) imaging, and to subsequently assess impact on metastasis.

Background

Cancer-acquired lymphedema arises from dysfunctional fluid transport after lymphadenectomy performed for staging and to disrupt drainage pathways for regional control of disease. However, little is known about the normal regenerative processes of the lymphatics in response to lymphadenectomy and how these responses can be accelerated, delayed, or can impact metastasis.

Methods

Changes in lymphatic “pumping” function and drainage patterns were non-invasively and longitudinally imaged using NIRF lymphatic imaging after popliteal lymphadenectomy in mice. In a cohort of mice, B16F10 melanoma was inoculated on the dorsal aspect of the paw 27 days after lymphadenectomy to assess how drainage patterns affect metastasis.

Results

NIRF imaging demonstrates that, although lymphatic function and drainage patterns change significantly in early response to popliteal lymph node (PLN) removal in mice, these changes are transient and regress dramatically due to a high regenerative capacity of the lymphatics and co-opting of collateral lymphatic pathways around the site of obstruction. Metastases followed the pattern of collateral pathways and could be detected proximal to the site of lymphadenectomy.

Conclusions

Both lymphatic vessel regeneration and co-opting of contralateral vessels occur following lymphadenectomy, with contractile function restored within 13 days, providing a basis for preclinical and clinical investigations to hasten lymphatic repair and restore contractile lymphatic function after surgery to prevent cancer-acquired lymphedema. Patterns of cancer metastasis after lymphadenectomy were altered, consistent with patterns of re-directed lymphatic drainage.  相似文献

Aim To explore global patterns of riverine fish endemism by applying an island biogeography framework to river drainage basins and highlight evolutionary mechanisms producing two kinds of endemism: neo‐endemism, arising from within‐drainage cladogenetic speciation, and palaeo‐endemism, arising from species range contraction or anagenetic speciation. Location World‐wide. Methods We use a uniquely comprehensive data set of riverine fish species distributions to map global fish endemism patterns. We then use the relationships between (1) total species richness and proportions of endemic species and (2) total species richness and a measure of in situ (i.e. within‐drainage basin) probability of speciation by cladogenesis, to identify the two distinct forms of endemism. After separating drainage basins into two different sets according to dominance of one of these two forms, we apply a model averaging procedure to highlight, for both datasets, the environmental and historical variables that better explain endemism patterns. We finally analyse the effect of biotic components related to dispersal ability on the percentages of both kinds of endemism among lineages. Results Our results indicate that the two types of endemism are distributed differently across space and taxonomic lineages: (1) neo‐endemism, positively related to the overall richness of the drainage basin, is essentially linked to in situ cladogenetic speciation and is positively related to drainage basin area, negatively related to climate variability since glacial periods and negatively related to all proxies of dispersal ability; and (2) palaeo‐endemism, not directly contributing to drainage basin richness, is a pure process of extinction through range contraction and/or isolation through time and is mostly related to geographic isolation, glacial history and positively related to marine‐derived origin of families. Main conclusions The non‐random spatial and taxonomic distribution of neo‐endemism and palaeo‐endemism sharply reflects the role of evolutionary processes and provides a way to identify areas of high conservation interest based on their high present and future diversification potential.  相似文献
