The present paper describes the comparative biochemical studies in terms of quantitative analyses of carbohydrates, lipids, proteins, free amino acids, nucleic acids, minerals, ash and moisture as well as the identification of free amino acids of pollen of four species ofCassia L. (C. alata L,C. fistula L,C. occidentalis L andC. siamea Lam.). A significant variation in the chemical constituents was observed among the four species.C. occidentalis showed the highest levels of carbohydrate (15.15%) and protein (22.45%), andC. siamea had the lowest levels of carbohydrate (7.15%), lipid (6.2%) and protein (13.85%).C. alata andC. fistula showed intermediate results. However,C. alata showed the highest amount of free amino acids (3.8%) and the least of 1.42% was found inC. fistula. Thin layer chromatography (TLC) of free amino acids of the four species showed some homology in their amino acid content, of which proline, glutamic acid, methionine and phenyl-alanine were the most dominant. The level of nucleic acids and minerals was found to be comparatively low.C. siamea andC. alata showed an exceptionally high level of ash content (8.6 and 8.8%, respectively) while moisture content varied from 8 to 11%.  相似文献

Studies were carried out on the seasonal variation in yield and gel strength of agar from Gacilaria domingensis with and without the addition of calcium chloride. Extraction was done with and without treatment with 1% hydrochloric acid. The results showed an increase in yield and gel strength when an alkaline solution of calcium was used, but the gel strength was low. For commercial use, Gracilaria domingensis should be mixed with better quality Gracilaria species because of its low gel strength.  相似文献

为揭示长苞香蒲(Typha domingensis)对盐生湿地生态系统中Na+和K+的吸收与转运特征,探讨长苞香蒲对盐生湿地的生态修复效果,该研究采用人工模拟盐生湿地的方法,设置CK(对照)、T1(浇灌100 mmol·L-1盐水)、T2(浇灌200 mmol·L-1盐水)及T3(浇灌300 mmol·L-1盐水)4种不同盐浓度的人工湿地生态系统,并分别于5月5日(开始盐胁迫处理,S0)、5月30日(S1)、6月30日(S2)和7月30日(S3)测量其株高和干重、植株地上与地下部分Na+和K+的含量以及底泥和水体中Na+和K+的含量以分析长苞香蒲对盐碱湿地的脱盐作用。结果表明:(1)各处理的长苞香蒲的株高和干重随着处理时间的延长呈增加趋势,但与CK相比,各处理生长量随盐浓度升高出现下降趋势。(2)高浓度盐处理(T3)使长苞香蒲的地上部分和地下部分的Na+分别增加了2.5...  相似文献

The nutritive value of Capsosiphon fulvescens (C. Agardh) Setchell et Gardner, a new developing species for cultivation of marine macroalgae in Korea, was assessed by comparison with common edible green seaweed Ulva prolifera (Oeder) J. Agardh collected from Korea and Japan, based on analysis of its chemical composition. The contents of protein and of total, essential, and free amino acids of C. fulvescens were significantly higher than those of U. prolifera, whereas those of lipid, carbohydrate, and total dietary fibres were significantly lower. There were no significant differences in the moisture content between Capsosiphon and Ulva species. The main minerals of Capsosiphon and Ulva are Na, Mg, K, Ca, and Al, making up approximately 97–99 % of the total minerals. The contents of Na and V of Capsosiphon were significantly greater than those of Ulva, while those of Mn and Sr were significantly lower in Capsosiphon. The contents of retinal (27.8 μg g−1 dry wt) and ascorbic acid (0.28 mg g−1 dry wt) of Capsosiphon were significantly higher than those of Ulva, but the contents of cobalamin were lower. These results suggest that C. fulvescens has greater potential to be used as human food and as an ingredient in formulated food.  相似文献

The red alga Kallymenia reniformis (Rhodophyta, Cryptonemiales), collected on the west coast of Brittany, contained 13% ash, 5.6% crude protein and 38.7% soluble carbohydrate (on percent dry wt). The phycocolloid extract (38 % dried wt) was investigated using chemical and spectroscopic (IR and 13C NMR) methods. Preliminary results show that this polysaccharide belongs to the lambda-carrageenan family.  相似文献

A low-cost, low-maintenance system for soilless production of vesicular-arbuscular mycorrhizal (VAM) fungus spores and inoculum was developed and adapted for production of acidophilic and basophilic isolates. Corn (Zea mays) plants were grown with Glomus etunicatum, G. mosseae or Gigaspora margarita in sand automatically irrigated with modified Hoagland's solution. Sand particle size, irrigation frequency, P concentration, and buffer constituents were adjusted to maximize spore production. Modified half-strength Hoagland's solution buffered with 4-morpholine ethane-sulfonic acid (MES) automatically applied 5 times/day resulted in production of 235 G. etunicatum spores/g dry wt. of medium (341000 spores/pot) and 44 G. margarita spores/g dry wt. of medium (64800 spores/pot). For six basophilic isolates of G. mosseae, CaCO3 was incorporated into the sand and pots were supplied with the same nutrient solution as for acidophilic isolates. The increased pH from 6.1±0.2 to 7.2±0.2 resulted in spore production ranging from 70 to 145 spores/g dry wt. (102000–210000 spores/pot). Spore production by all isolates grown in the soilless sand system at Beltsville has exceeded that of traditional soil mixtures by 32–362% in 8–12 weeks.  相似文献

Wetlands of northern Belize, distributed along a salinity gradient, are strongly phosphorus limited and dominated largely by three species of emergent macrophytes: Eleocharis cellulosa, Cladium jamaicense, and Typha domingensis. We assessed changes in root and sediment phosphatase activities of each species to simultaneous changes of nutrients (N, P) and salinity in a mesocosm experiment. Phosphorus and nitrogen treatment effects on both root and sediment phosphatase were highly significant for all the species, while salinity significantly affected root phosphatase activity in Cladium only. All species showed a significant negative correlation between root phosphatase activity and increasing tissue P content until a threshold of 0.2% P, 0.15% P and 0.12% P in Eleocharis, Cladium and Typha, respectively. There was also a significant negative correlation between soil available P and root and sediment phosphatases in all species. Activity of root phosphatases of Eleocharis and Typha were positively correlated with root tissue N. Both root and sediment phosphatases of all three species were positively correlated with soil available N. The strongest (positive) correlation was found between phoshatase activites and N/P ratios. The results confirmed that these systems are P-limited and that extracellular phosphatases respond to P enrichment by decreasing their activities. Expression of root phosphatase activity by dry root weight, sediment volume, or whole plant biomass gave very different relative results across nutrient treatments and species, suggesting that root phosphatase activities need to be interpreted in a wider context that considers root density.  相似文献

Protein, lipid, carbohydrate, chitin, ash, and caloric energy contents of the Arctic marine benthic amphipod Onisimus (= Boeckosimus) affinis H.J. Hansen were determined at intervals over two and one half years. The lipid content exhibited the most pronounced seasonal change, from a minimum of about 14–17% of dry wt to a maximum of 25–27% of dry wt. An increase in lipid content in the spring coincided with the reproductive period of the species. Lipid and caloric content decreased during the summer to levels that were maintained through the winter, indicating that the animals do not store significant nutritional reserves for use during the winter. The dry weight proportions of other components were: protein 27.7–38.3%; carbohydrate 1.8–4.0%; chitin 7.8–8.2%; ash 21.3–27.2%. Caloric content varied between 3.29 and 4.18 cal/mg dry wt.  相似文献

为了探究种间竞争对香蒲(Typha domingensis)与芦苇(Phragmites australis)生长的影响,利用根系分隔盆栽试验研究了3种不同分隔方式条件下香蒲与芦苇的种间竞争特性,包括塑料膜分隔(根系完全分隔,无相互作用,无物质交换)、尼龙网分隔(根系部分分隔,无相互作用,有物质交换)和不分隔(根系完全相互作用,有物质交换),分析了香蒲与芦苇根系形态和地上部生长的变化,探究香蒲与芦苇种间竞争的差异。结果发现(1)在尼龙网分隔和不分隔处理中芦苇具有明显的劣势。与塑料膜分隔处理相比,芦苇的总生物量、植株密度在尼龙网分隔和不分隔处理中分别减少了39.14%、49.41%和82.08%、79.22%,总根长、总根表面积、总根体积分别减少了40.53%、44.84%、62.52%和85.7%、82.45%、89.67%,且均具有极显著差异(P<0.01);根系分隔方式也影响芦苇的株高、茎粗和叶片数,表现为不分隔 > 塑料膜分隔 > 尼龙网分隔。(2)与塑料膜分隔处理相比,香蒲总生物量在尼龙网分隔和不分隔中虽有增加,但差异不显著,植株密度和株高在尼龙网分隔和不分隔处理中都有增加且具有显著差异(P<0.05),其总根长、总根表面积、总根体积在尼龙网分隔中分别增加了57.93%、26.5%、8.04%,但在不分隔处理中分别减少了11.57%、14.92%、11.39%(P<0.05),虽然根系的相互作用对香蒲根系的生长具有促进作用,但植物种间根系相互作用越强,对两者的生长越不利。(3)在不同的分隔方式中,芦苇与香蒲间也存在明显变化。在不分隔处理中,香蒲的生物量和植株密度是芦苇的1.7倍和6.74倍,与塑料膜分隔处理相比增加了6倍,表明芦苇与香蒲根系的完全相互作用,显著削减了芦苇的繁殖生长,增加了香蒲的根系分蘖。(4)通过种间相互作用强度(RII值)分析也表明,尼龙网分隔和不分隔处理下芦苇表现为抑制作用(RII值为负值),香蒲表现为促进作用(RII值为正值)。香蒲与芦苇互作对芦苇具有抑制作用,说明种间相互作用是能改变植物的适应性和植物群落的繁殖,同时也表明植物根系不仅在吸收土壤中的水和养分中起着关键作用,在种间关系中也起着重要作用。因此利用种间竞争控制植物生长,可以为保护生物多样性和生态系统的功能提供有效的技术支撑。  相似文献

火干扰不仅影响森林生态系统的结构与功能,而且影响群落更新与演替。为了研究草木灰对4种松属种子萌芽和幼苗生长的影响,在湖南省株洲市黄丰桥林场采集马尾松、云南松、湿地松和火炬松种子,以马尾松次生林火烧迹地的草木灰为基质,设置对照和3个草木灰处理,进行播种试验及生长观测。结果表明:(1)草木灰处理下4个物种的种子发芽率比对照试验低,并呈现随草木灰含量的增加而降低的趋势,低草木灰含量处理马尾松种子发芽率不及对照一半,中、高草木灰含量处理发芽率更低;云南松、湿地松和火炬松种子发芽率规律类似于马尾松,而高草木灰含量处理发芽率为0。(2)培养皿播种平均发芽时间比花盆播种长,无论草木灰处理还是培养条件(培养皿或花盆),马尾松和云南松种子平均发芽时间比湿地松和火炬松短。(3)4个物种种子播种14周后,对照试验中马尾松和云南松幼苗死亡率最低,而火炬松和湿地松幼苗死亡率相对增加。(4)播种14周后不同试验处理4个物种幼苗生长差异不明显。火炬松、湿地松、云南松和马尾松幼苗的单株平均干重分别达0.038、0.031、0.027、0.024 g。各物种叶干重按降序排列依次是火炬松(0.026 g)湿地松(0.019 g)云南松(0.017 g)马尾松(0.016 g),根和茎的干重比重相当,约占对应物种幼苗叶干重的三分之一。研究表明以草木灰为培养基质,马尾松和云南松种子的发芽率较高,平均发芽时间较短,更适合作为火烧迹地植被恢复先锋树种,为火干扰后选择人工促进天然更新树种提供参考。  相似文献

When, on the 15th day of growth, an elicitor from Fusarium solani was added at 40 mg l–1 to Cistanche deserticola cell suspension cultures, the contents of echinacoside, acteoside and total phenylethanoid glycosides (PeGs) in cultured cells all increased over the next 27 d by over 100% to 15 mg g–1 dry wt, 9 mg g–1 dry wt and 57 mg g–1 dry wt, respectively. 桉树是林业生物质能源的原料之一,了解桉树的热值和灰分含量能为合理利用桉树能源林提供理论参考。该研究采用热量计和马福炉对华南尾巨桉等10种桉树的不同器官进行热值和灰分含量测定。结果表明:10种桉树树叶、树枝、树根、树干和树皮的干质量热值、去灰分热值分别为15.10~21.06 kJ.g-1和16.50~22.11 kJ.g-1,器官的平均干质量热值、去灰分热值以树叶最高(19.50和20.56 kJ.g-1)、树皮的最低(17.32和18.09 kJ.g-1),说明树叶所含的高能有机物质比其它器官多;不同器官的干质量热值与去灰分热值在不同品种中的大小排序不完全一致。灰分含量在0.14%~8.5%之间,器官平均的灰分含量以树叶最高(5.13%)、树干最低(0.30%),说明树叶所含的矿质元素较多。不同器官的热值与灰分含量均差异显著(P<0.05)。植株个体的干质量热值与去灰分热值均以尾叶桉最高(18.99和19.18 kJ.g-1),以托里桉最低(17.53和17.86 kJ.g-1);灰分含量则以托里桉最高(1.90%)、巨桉最低(0.61%)。相关分析结果表明,灰分含量与干质量热值、去灰分热值存在一定的负相关,但未达显著水平;干质量热值与去灰分热值呈极显著的正相关关系(P<0.01)。由于理想的植物燃料应具备热值高与灰分含量低的特点,结合该研究的结果分析,托里桉作为燃料资源利用不理想,以尾叶桉较为适宜。  相似文献

To identify potential diets for rearing captive freshwater mussels, the protein, carbohydrate (CHO), and lipid contents of two green algae, Neochloris oleoabundans, Bracteacoccus grandis, and one diatom, Phaeodactylum tricornutum, were compared at different growth stages. The fatty acid and sterol composition were also identified. Protein was greatest (55–70%) for all species at late log growth stage (LL), and declined in late stationary (LS) growth. CHO was greatest at LS stage for all species (33.9–56.4% dry wt). No significant change in lipid levels occurred with growth stage, but tended to increase in N. oleoabundans. Mean lipid content differed significantly in the order: N. oleoabundans > P. tricornutum > B. grandis. Total fatty acids (TFA) were higher at LS stage compared to other stages in the two green algae, and stationary stage in the diatom. Mean unsaturated fatty acids (UFA) as %TFA was significantly higher in N. oleoabundans than the other species. The green algae contained high percentages of C-18 polyunsaturated fatty acids (PUFAs), while the diatom was abundant in C-16 saturated and mono-unsaturated fatty acids and C-20 PUFA fatty acids. Growth stage had no effect on sterol concentration of any species. B. grandis showed significantly higher sterol levels than the other species except P. tricornutum at S stage. B. grandis was characterized by predominantly 5, C-29 sterols, while N. oleoabundans synthesized 5,7, 5,7,22 , and 7, C-28 sterols. P. tricornutum produced primarily a 5,22, C-28 sterol, and a small amount of a 7,22, C-28 sterol.  相似文献

Phenetic investigations were undertaken to evaluate differences between the cloud forest endemicViola domingensis of the Dominican Republic and the morphologically similarV. macloskeyi of continental North America. Cluster, principal components (PCA), and canonical variates analyses (CVA) of leaf characters and of ratios derived from them consistently separateV. macloskeyi subsp.macloskeyi of the Pacific states fromV. domingensis and transcontinentalV. macloskeyi subsp.pallens. However, all analyses portray the latter two as extensively intergradient extremes of a continuum, withV. domingensis plants tending to be smaller. Phenetic analyses of capsule and seed features, which are often divergent among other species of subsect.Stolonosae, showV. domingensis to be nested within a broaderV. macloskeyi subsp.pallens. Similarly, floral morphology does not provide observable differences between the pair. Results support the synonymy ofV. domingensis underV. macloskeyi subsp.pallens and reveal that it represents a disjunct outlier of an otherwise continental North American violet.  相似文献

Nannochloropsis sp. was grown with different levels of nitrate, phosphate, salinity and temperature with CO2 at 2,800 μl l−1. Increased levels of NaNO3 and KH2PO4 raised protein and polyunsaturated fatty acids (PUFAs) contents but decreased carbohydrate, total lipid and total fatty acids (TFA) contents. Nannochloropsis sp. grew well at salinities from 22 to 49 g l−1, and lowering salinity enhanced TFA and PUFAs contents. TFA contents increased with the increasing temperature but PUFAs contents decreased. The highest eicosapentaenoic acid (EPA, 20:5ω3) content based on the dry mass was above 3% under low N (150 μM NaNO3) or high N (3000 μM NaNO3) condition. Excessive nitrate, low salinity and temperature are thus favorable factors for improving EPA yields in Nannochloropsis sp.  相似文献

Seven banana cultivars (Musa acuminata, AAA group) were inoculated with two species of vesicular arbuscular mycorrhizal (VAM) fungi (Glomus mosseae and Glomus macrocarpum) in a greenhouse experiment. Inoculated plants had generally greater shoot dry weight and shoot phosphorus concentrations compared to the noninoculated plants. A great variation in dependency on mycorrhizal colonization was observed among the banana cultivars. Cv. Williams showed the highest relative mycorrhizal dependency (RMD) and cv. Poyo the lowest. For all the cultivars studied, inoculation with G. macrocarpum resulted in the highest RMD values. Both root dry weight and root hair length or density of the noninoculated plants were inverserly correlated with the RMD values of cultivars.  相似文献

Four eubacterial strains able to grow on carbon disulfide (CS2) as sole energy substrate were isolated from soil and leaves of the CS2-producing tree Quercus lobata. Three of the isolates (strains KS1, KS2, and KL1) were gram-negative, facultatively methylotrophic, and heterotrophic, and capable of growth on a wide range of inorganic and organic sulfur compounds. Biochemical and physiological properties differed slightly among the three strains, but all are proposed to be novel thiobacillus species. Growth yields on CS2 in batch and chemostat culture ranged from 3.3 g dry wt/mol CS2 (batch) to a maximum growth yield (Ymax) of 11.1 g dry wt/mol (chemostat). Chemostat data for two of the strains growing, autotrophically on thiosulfate gave Ymax values of 7.4 and 7.1 g dry wt/mol, which fall within the range observed with thiobacilli. The three new Thiobacillus strains had DNA containing 39.8 (KS2), 47.8 (KS1), and 50.5 (KL1) mol% G+C. All three were unusual in being able to grow not only on thiosulfate (aerobically or with denitrification), but also on CS2, carbonyl sulfide and methylated sulfides as sole energy substrates, and one was unique in being able to grow also on substituted thiophenes. They are the first organisms described to be capable, of anaerobic growth with denitrification on CS2. The fourth isolate (strain KL2) was gram-positive non-motile and nonspore-forming, with 39.0 mol% G+C. It had a restricted range of sulfur-containing growth substrates, could not grow methylotrophically or on autotrophic substrates other than CS2, and is not yet classifiable These organisms extend the range of eubacteria known to be capable of CS2 breakdown and demonstrate that several types of facultatively chemolithotrophic bacteria, able to grow exclusively on CS2, are associated with a CS2-producing plant.  相似文献

The effect of biotic elicitors (yeast extract, chitosan), signaling molecule (salicylic acid), and polyamines (putrescine and spermidine) was studied with respect to isoflavones accumulation in hairy root cultures of Psoralea corylifolia L. Untreated hairy roots (control) accumulated 1.55% dry wt of daidzein and 0.19% dry wt of genistein. In precursor feeding experiment, phenylalanine at 2 mM concentration led to 1.3 fold higher production of daidzein (1.91% dry wt) and genistein (0.27% dry wt). In biotic elicitors, chitosan (2 mg/L) was found to be the most efficient elicitor to induce daidzein (2.78% dry wt) and genistein (0.279% dry wt) levels in hairy roots. Salicylic acid at 1 mM concentration stimulated the maximum accumulation of daidzein (2.2% dry wt) and genistein (0.228% dry wt) 2 days after elicitation. In case of polyamines, putrescine (50 mM) resulted in highest accumulation of daidzein (3.01% dry wt) and genistein (0.227% dry wt) after 5 days of addition. Present results indicated the effectiveness of elicitation and precursor feeding on isoflavones accumulation in hairy roots of P. corylifolia. This is the first report of elicitation on isoflavones production by hairy roots of P. corylifolia.  相似文献

The nutritive quality of Nannochloropsis gaditana cultured semicontinuously with different daily renewal rates was tested as a diet for short-term enrichment of the rotifer Brachionus plicatilis. After 24 h, dramatic differences in the survival, dry weight, and biochemical composition of the rotifers depending on the renewal rate of microalgal cultures were observed. Survival after the feeding period increased with increasing renewal rates. Rotifers fed microalgae from low renewal rate, nutrient-deficient cultures showed low dry weight and organic contents very similar to those of the initial rotifers that were starved for 12 h before the start of the feeding period. On the contrary, rotifers fed nutrient-sufficient microalgal cells underwent up to twofold increases of dry weight and protein, lipid, and carbohydrate contents with regard to rotifers fed nutrient-depleted N. gaditana. Consequently, feed conversion rate decreased in these conditions, indicating a better assimilation of the microalgal biomass obtained at high renewal rates. No single microalgal biochemical parameter among those studied can explain the response of the filter feeder. Similarly to gross composition, EPA and n-3 contents in rotifers fed microalgae from nutrient-sufficient cultures were double than the contents found in rotifers fed nutrient-limited microalgae. In addition, very high positive correlations between the contents of EPA and n-3 in N. gaditana and B. plicatilis were observed. These results demonstrate that selecting the appropriate conditions of semicontinuous culture can strongly enhance the nutritional value of microalgae that is reflected in the growth and biochemical composition of the filter-feeder even in short exposure periods.  相似文献

The suitability of differentGracilaria spp. and twoSargassum species for bioconversion to methane was determined through bioassays of methane yield.Gracilaria species and strains were excellent feedstocks for high methane yields, ranging from 0.28 to 0.40 m3 kg–1 volatile solids added. These yields ranged from 58 to 95% of theoretical stoichiometric yields. Methane yields were highly correlated with acid soluble carbohydrate components of theGracilaria spp. BothSargassum fluitans andS. pteropleuron were poor feedstocks, with methane yields ranging from 0.12 to 0.19 m3 kg–1 volatile solids added, 27 to 46% of theoretical stoichiometric yields, respectively. The various tissue types of theseSargassum species were also poor feedstocks for anaerobic digestion to methane. While there is no clear explanation for the low methane yields, the twoSargassum spp. appear to contain a high proportion of an insoluble, non-extractable component which may not be available as a substrate for bioconversion to methane.  相似文献
