This paper discusses the application of randomization tests to censored survival distributions. The three types of censoring considered are those designated by MILLER (1981) as Type 1 (fixed time termination), Type 2 (termination of experiment at r-th failure), and random censoring. Examples utilize the Gehan scoring procedure. Randomization tests for which computer programs already exist can be applied to a variety of experimental designs, regardless of the presence of censored observations.  相似文献

In this paper we use the sensitivity curves of TUKEY (1977) and the change of decision point (cdp) (a modified version of the breakdown point of YLVISAKER, 1977), supplemented by simulation studies to acquire knowledge about sensitivity in generalized Wilcoxon rank test statistics. Sensitivity depends on balanced or unbalanced sample size cases, censoring, combinations of failure distributions and sources of errors in the data. It is important to consider the quality of the data, and the results show that cdp and some properties of the sensitivity curves may serve as a hint when selecting a test statistic and when making a decision for a given test statistic.  相似文献

In this paper censored data rank location estimators are obtained by using censored one-sample rank test statistics of the location parameter and censored two-sample rank test statistics of the shift of location parameter. Also, methods for constructing censored small sample confidence intervals and asymptotic confidence intervals for the location are considered. Generalizations of the solutions from uncensored one-sample and two-sample rank tests are utilized.  相似文献

The asymptotic equivalence of nonparametric tests and parametric tests based on rank-transformed data (CONOVER and IMAN , 1981) can be extended to the case of censoring. This paper presents generalized rank transformations for analyses of censored data, of interval-censored data and of survival data with uncertain causes of death. A Monte Carlo study and an analysis of leukemia remission times demonstrate excellent agreement of suggested procedures with GEHAN 'S (1965) and PRENTICE 'S (1978) tests.  相似文献

Ranked set sampling (RSS) as suggested by McIntyre (1952) and developed by Takahasi and Wakimoto (1968) is used to estimate the ratio. It is proved that by using RSS method the efficiency of the estimator relative to the simple random sampling (SRS) method has increased. Computer simulated results are given. The distribution-free test against ordered alternatives proposed by Jonckheere (1954) is based on the Kendall's rank correlation coefficient τ. A new rank test is proposed and illustrated with a numerical example. The proposed test is based on Spearman's σ and has similar functional structure as the Kruskal-Wallis test. In this paper we find a class of umbrella alternatives for which the MACK -WOLFE (1981) peak known test is optimal in the sense of Pitman efficiency. The asymptotic null distribution of the CHEN -WOLFE (1989) statistic for the peak-unknown umbrella alternatives problem is obtained. In this paper we consider the asymptotic distribution of linear rank-statistics allowing certain dependencies between the random variables. General theorems will be given, from which the results contained in SEN (1967a, 1967b, 1968), MEHRA /SEN (1969) and PURI /SEN (1971) can be derived. Applying these theorems we can derive ranktests for the two-sample problem for tied observations, for the two-factor mixed model with random interaction and for a hierarchical design. The distribution of the proposed teststatistics for small sample sizes is considered by Monte-Carlo studies.  相似文献

In this article a general univariate K-sample rank test for complete block designs with proportional cell frequencies is derived. It is shown that the test statistic has under H0 and for arbitrary scores asymptotically a X2-distribution with K — 1 degrees of freedom. Special cases of this test are the Kruskal-Wallis test and the Friedman test. The test is compared with the Benard-van-Elteren test, the Mack-Skillings test and a test proposed by Downton. We propose a unified and flexible framework for ensemble learning in the presence of censoring. For right-censored data, we introduce a random forest algorithm and a generic gradient boosting algorithm for the construction of prognostic and diagnostic models. The methodology is utilized for predicting the survival time of patients suffering from acute myeloid leukemia based on clinical and genetic covariates. Furthermore, we compare the diagnostic capabilities of the proposed censored data random forest and boosting methods, applied to the recurrence-free survival time of node-positive breast cancer patients, with previously published findings.  相似文献

The problem of comparing several treatments with a control is considered. It is formulated as a test of homogeneity with one-sided alternatives that at least one treatment is better than the control, while no treatment is worse than the control. A class of linear rank tests for the simple tree alternatives is proposed, assuming a location model. The most efficient test of the proposed class for detecting a specified pattern is derived. Two optimal tests for use in the case of vaguely specified tree alternatives are derived. In a simulation study the power of these two tests are compared with the power of Kruskal-Wallis test. Recommendations about the use of the proposed tests are made.  相似文献

In this paper we give the generalization of the score tests covering the case of ties and we give examples where the expressions in matrix form are completely specified for the weighted tests and the score tests for the case of r groups. It is worth mentioning that although the score tests are not generally included in the commercial software, these tests should be used if it can be assumed that the censoring mechanism is equal in the r groups or if there is no censoring (Lawless , 1982). We establish the equivalence between “numerators” of these families of tests. As result of this equivalence we define four new tests that complete the classification of score and weighted tests. The Kruskal‐Wallis test (1952) appears as a particular case of the score tests for the case of non‐censoring. A simulation study has been done in order to compare the performance of the tests described in this paper. An example is included to make the understanding of the paper easier.  相似文献

A superpopulation model generates the probabilities of a Bernouilli random variable. The ranks of the involved variables are considered as survey weights. The distribution f each linear rank statistic is derived under the null hypothesis for the two sample problem and for the case k2 when a simple random sampling or stratified sampling is used. LEHMACHER & WALL'S (1978) example of the application of a rank test for the comparison of two independent samples of response curves is reanalyzed by PYHEL'S (1980) permutation test for the hypothesis of parallelism of response curves. This permutation test is part of a complete evaluation of effects for a split-plot design using the permutation test based procedure by WILLMES & PYHEL (1981). A procedure for comparing survival times between several groups of patients through rank analysis of covariance was introduced by WOOLSON and LACHENBRUCH (1983). It is a modification of Quade' rank analysis of covariance procedure (1967) and can be used for the analysis of right-censored data. In this paper, two additional modifications of Quade' original test statistic are proposed and compared to the original modification introduced by Woolson and Lachenbruch. These statistics are compared to one another and to the score test from Cox' proportional hazards model by way of a limited Monte Carlo study. One of the statistics, QR2, is recommended for general use for the rank analysis of covariance of right-censored survivorship data.  相似文献

A common testing problem for a life table or survival data is to test the equality of two survival distributions when the data is both grouped and censored. Several tests have been proposed in the literature which require various assumptions about the censoring distributions. It is shown that if these conditions are relaxed then the tests may no longer have the stated properties. The maximum likelihood test of equality when no assumptions are made about the censoring marginal distributions is derived. The properties of the test are found and it is compared to the existing tests. The fact that no assumptions are required about the censoring distributions make the test a useful initial testing procedure.  相似文献
