H. tageae sp. n. and Halicyclops ytororoma sp. n. are described from the intertidal interstitial water of Brazilian beaches. H. tageae is distinguished from all congeneric species by the number of setae on legs 1–4 endopodite 2 (1, 1, 2, 2) and by possessing a reduced inner spine on the leg 5 exopodite. It shares with H. brevispinosus, H. pusillus and H. canui the spine formula 2, 3, 3, 3 on exopodite 3 of swimming legs 1–4. H. ytororoma closely resembles H. gauldi and differs from this species by having 4 setae on leg 1 endopodite 3; H. gauldi has 3 setae on this segment. This is the first record of Halicyclops from marine interstitial water in Brazil.  相似文献

As a result of an examination of the original material of G. O. Sars and of new material from Björnehodebukta, Oslofjord, Danielssenia fusiformis (Brady) is synonymized with Danielssenia typica Boeck and the latter species redescribed. Two new species are described; D. quadriseta , from Oslofjord, is distinguished from all other known species by the presence of only 1 inner seta on the distal endopodite segment of swimming leg 3; Danielssenia reducta , from Alaska, is the only species in the genus with just 3 setae on the terminal endopodite segment of swimming leg 4. A new key to species of Danielssenia is also provided.  相似文献

Eodiaptomus phuphanensis n. sp. is described from two localities in the Phu Phan National Park, northeast Thailand. The new species is the eighth member of the genus Eodiaptomus and the third species recorded from Thailand. It belongs to the lumholtzi‐group, and is most closely related to E. sanoamuangae Reddy and Dumont , 1998. The third endopodite‐segment of P2‐P4 in both sexes of E. phuphanensis n. sp. bears seven setae as in E. sanoamuangae, instead of six as in the remaining species of the genus. Nevertheless, the new species can be distinguished from the other congeners by the distinct shape of the endopodite of the male right P5 and the absence of hairs on lateral margins of the female caudal rami.  相似文献

A new genus, Mandobius gen.n, containing a new species, M. regalis sp.n., is associated with the coral Pectinia lactuca in New Caledonia. The new copepod differs conspicuously from the allied genus Paramolgus in having only one seta on the first segment of the first antenna, in the formula 1,11,3 for the third segment of the endopodite of leg 1, and in the formula 11,1,5 for the third segment of the exopodite of leg 4.  相似文献

Halicyclops tetracanthus sp.n. and H. venezuelaensis Lindberg were found in the Sittee River Estuary, Belize. The new species is distinguished from all its congeners by having a distal spine and two spiniform heterogeneously ornamented setae on the inner margin of the terminal endopodal segment of legs 2 and 3. Halicyclops venezuelaensis, previously known only from Venezuela is redescribed based on specimens of both sexes. Differences in the ornamentation as well as in the relative length of some setae of the maxilla and maxilliped are pointed out as additional useful characters in the taxonomy of Halicyclops. This is the first record of Halicyclops in Belize.  相似文献

An ascidicolid copepod, Haplostomides hawaiiensis, is described on the basis of females obtained from the compound ascidian Polyclinum constellatum collected in Keehi Lagoon, Honolulu, Hawaii. The features that separate H. hawaiiensis from other species of the genus include an elongate body with dorsal curvature and indistinct tagmosis, and a combination of characters of cephalic appendages (antenna with 2 spines, mandible with 3 setae, maxillule with 7 setae and maxilla with 2 setae) and thoracic appendages (legs 1–4 with 1 seta on protopod and 2 spines and 1 seta on exopod). Haplostomides hawaiiensis appears to be most closely related to H. hibernicus (T. & A. Scott, 1895) which occurs in compound ascidians from European seas. This is the first copepod associate of an ascidian to be reported from Hawaii.  相似文献

Two new species ofHalicyclops are described from plankton samples taken in two localities in the Amazon River mouth area, State of Pará, Brazil.Halicyclops lindbergi sp.n. resemblesH. hurlberti andH. clarkei from which it differs by a combination of characters in leg 5, the anal pseudoperculum and the caudal rami. The other new species,H. dussarti, is most morphologically similar toH. pilosus, but they are separated by differences in legs 1 and 5 as well as in the ornamentation of the middle caudal setae.  相似文献

This paper deals with taxonomy and phylogenetics of the genus Eurycletodes Sars, 1909 (Copepoda: Harpacticoida: Argestidae). Samples, collected from the southeast Atlantic on board RV “Meteor” during the cruises DIVA-1 (M48/1) and DIVA-2 (M63/2), contain specimens of Eurycletodes. Eurycletodes is characterized as a monophylum by A1 segments III + IV fused, basal seta of md palp lost, exp of md palp reduced to 1 seta or completely lost. Similarly, the subgenera Eurycletodes (Eurycletodes) and Eurycletodes (Oligocletodes) are characterized as monophyletic by the loss of the inner seta on P1 exp2 (apomorphic to E. (E.)) and the absence of the inner seta on P5 endopodal lobe (apomorphic to E. (O.)). Eurycletodes profundus is renamed as E. (O.) profundus. Eurycletodes ephippiger is the only species of the genus without subgeneric designation. Eurycletodes (O.) diva sp. nov. is described. The new species differs from described species of the genus by a larger body size, P5 endopodal lobe only slightly protruding, last segment of A1 with 2 outer setae, furcal rami elongated between setae VII and IV. The occurrence of 2 specimens of Eurycletodes (O.) diva sp. nov. at 2 sites separated by the Walvis Ridge supports the hypothesis that geographic obstacles do not prevent harpacticoid copepods from spreading in the deep sea.  相似文献

A new species of the genus Polycopetta Chavtur, 1981, Polycopetta quadrispinata sp. n. is described from the interstitial environment of Mihomasaki Beach in Japan. These observations showed some morphological peculiarities of Polycopetta quadrispinata sp. n. compared with its congeners; Polycopetta monneroni Chavtur, 1979, Polycopetta curva Chavtur, 1979, Polycopetta bransfieldensis (Hartmann, 1987), and Polycopetta pax Kornicker and Harrison-Nelson, 2005. Three characteristics are described for the first time: (1) a seta with serrated tip on the male antennula, (2) the endopodite of the fifth limb consisting of two podomeres, (3) the long spermatozoa in the male posterior body. More detailed observations of the type species are needed in order to update the generic diagnosis.  相似文献

Two new species of harpacticoid copepod belonging to the families Ameiridae and Ancorabolidae are fully described and illustrated. Pseudameria signyensis sp. nov. is very similar to P. crassicomis Sars but is distinguished from it by the presence of an extra seta on the inner border of the terminal segment of the endopodite of the fourth swimming leg. Laophontodes macropodia sp. nov. is distinguishable from all other species in the genus by the setal formula of the first four swimming legs but more particularly by the unique shape of the fifth leg. Idyellopsis typica Lang is by far the most abundant harpacticoid inhabiting sublittoral fine sand in Borg Bay, Signy Island, Antarctica. The female of this species is redescribed and the male described and illustrated for the first time.  相似文献

A rare find of the elusive genus Vanbenedenia off the south-eastern coast of South Africa on a Hydrolagus sp. proved to be an as yet undescribed species. Vanbenedenia hydrolagae n. sp. differs from the three other species of the genus by virtue of the relative length of the second maxillae, the absence of multiple setae on the exopod of the first maxilla and the bifid nature of the sclerotised hook and sub-terminal seta of the maxilliped. SEM micrographs provided information on the mouth-cone.  相似文献

The genus Morariopsishas a disjunct distribution. It has been found in south-eastern Europe and in the Baikal region in Russia. In Europe two species are known, both from the Dinaric region. They have been found in three caves only, but always in puddles filled with percolating water. This indicates that they inhabit an unsaturated karstic environment. A third species, Morariopsis dumontin.sp has now been found, in the same type of habitat, on several dates, in a small cave in central Slovenia. Males were recorded for the first time in this genus. The new species is related to Morariospsis kieferiPetkovski, 1959 from Dalmatia. The main differences are in the ornamentation of the furca and of the abdominal segments. P5 and particularly endopodite of P4 in males suggest a close relation between Morariaand Morariopsis.  相似文献

Setal variability and the other morphological characters of juvenile stages and adult of Hydrozetes lemnae (Coggi, 1897) and H. thienemanni Strenzke, 1943 were investigated. In the juveniles of both species the length and shape of some setae vary, especially in the gastronotic region, more so in H. lemnae, which is parthenogenetic and reproduces by thelytoky, than in H. thienemanni, which is dioecious. The former species usually has more thick setae in the anterior and medial regions of the gastronotum, especially in the larva, compared to the latter. In the juveniles of H. lemnae the prodorsal setae le and in are longer, and in the nymphs the gastronotal setae of the l-series are usually longer than in H. thienemanni. These species differ distinctly by the number of long setae in the posterior part of the nymphs; in H. lemnae three pairs of long setae occur, while in H. thienemanni only two pairs; the respective juvenile stages of H. lemnae are also smaller than those of H. thienemanni. In the adults the number of c-series setae varies, as seta c 1 is lost, and in some individuals also seta c 3, and only seta c 2 remains.  相似文献

A new genus and new species of Canthocamptidae: Glaciella yalensis (Copepoda: Harpacticoida) from the surface of Yale Glacier, Nepal is described. This new species was collected from cryconite-pit on the surface of the glacier and is closely related to genus Maraenobiotus, but easily distinguishable from its species in the following: 1) segments and setae on endopodites of legs 2–4 in the male differing shape, 2) exopodites of male legs 3–4 with modified setae, 3) caudal seta in female absent. Body color of this copepod is red in live specimens.Contributions No. 86 Itako Hydrobiological Station, Ibaraki University.  相似文献

Abstract

Indopottia zanderi, a new genus and species of the Pottiaceae, is described from the Silent Valley National Park in the Western Ghats in Peninsular India. The distinctive features of Indopottia are the leaf cells being weakly convex on both surfaces, costal stereid-band semicircular in cross-section, guide cells rounded-ovate or semicircular, seta short and operculum very long. The affinities of the allied genera, Ganguleea, Tortula and Weisiopsis, are discussed. The new genus Indopottia may be placed in the tribe Hyophileae.  相似文献

Patterns of plant visitation by nectar-feeding lizards   总被引:1,自引:0,他引:1
Douglas A. Eifler 《Oecologia》1995,101(2):228-233
Geckos in the genus Hoplodactylus visit flowers to feed on nectar. I examined the patterns of flower visitation exhibited by two gecko species (H. maculatus and H. duvauceli) having access to two plant species: pohutukawa (Metrosideros excelsa: Myrtaceae) and flax (Phormium tenax: Agavaceae). Individual geckos were not observed to visit both plant species; individuals visiting flax tended to revisit the same plant. Geckos visiting pohutukawa were larger than those visiting flax and exhibited an early night peak in plant visitation, while lizards on flax displayed a more even pattern of activity throughout the night. On flax, geckos were more likely to be found on plants with a greater number of male flowers. Male flax flowers were of greater diameter than female flowers and produced nectar at higher rates and with greater concentrations of sugars. Experimental manipulation of pohutukawa nectar volumes suggested that the distribution of geckos is influenced by the pattern of nectar availability.  相似文献

The genus Paratullbergia Womersley, 1930 is recorded for the first time from China. Paratullbergia changfengensis sp. n. from Shanghai is described and illustrated. It is characterized by the presence of 1+1 pseudocelli on thoracic segment I, with two pairs of pseudocelli on each of thoracic segments II and III, presence of seta px on abdominal segment IV, seta a2 and p4 on abdominal segment V as microsetae, and less differentiated sensory seta p3 on abdominal segment V. Both sexes present. The new species can be easily distinguished from its congeners by the presence of pseudocelli on thoracic segment I. An updated key to the world species of the genus Paratullbergia is provided.  相似文献
