The grasshopper Podisma sapporensis consists of two main chromosome races in Hokkaido. The western group of populations of P. sapporensis, belonging to the XO race, has a diploid number of chromosomes 2n = 23 in the male and 2n = 24 in the female (sex determination XO male/XX female). The eastern group of populations of this species, belonging to the XY race, differs from the western one as a result of Robertsonian translocation between the originally acrocentric X chromosome and M5 autosome in homozygous state, having resulted in the forming of chromosome sex determination neo-XY male/neo-XX female (2n = 22). These races are geographically isolated by the mountainous system consisting of the Mts Daisetsu and Hidaka range, occupying the central part of the island. The hybrid zones between the races have not so far been discovered. Various levels of polymorphism for the pericentric inversions and C-banding variation exist in different chromosomes throughout populations in both chromosome races. In some solitary populations (the population at the summit of Mt Yotei, populations in the vicinity of Naganuma, Oketo, and Tanno) pericentric inversions are fixed in some pairs of chromosomes, which enables marking of the discrete karyomorphes. In the Mt Daisengen population all chromosomes are two-armed as a result of fixing the pericentric inversions. These facts contradict karyotypical conservatism of the tribe Podismini. The level of diversity of P. sapporensis karyotypes could provide a new perspective on the evolutionary process of different karyotype in Orthoptera. The considerable occurrence of polymorphism in chromosomes suggests that karyotypic diversification is undergoing in P. sapporensis. The authors also proposed that P. sapporensis would be divided into four chromosome subraces in the XO chromosome race and two chromosome subraces in the XY race, on the basis of karyotypic features. These races may have been established by fundamental climatic changes during the glacial epoch.  相似文献

Salinomys delicatus is considered a rare species due to its restricted and patchy distribution, poor records and low abundances. It is also the phyllotine with the lowest known diploid chromosome number (2n = 18), however its sex chromosome system has never been described. Here, we studied the chromosomes of six females and three males with bands G, C, DAPI/CMA3 and meiosis. In males, the chromosome number was 2n = 19, with one large metacentric X-chromosome and two medium-sized acrocentrics absent in females. The karyotype of females was the same as previously described (2n = 18, FN = 32), with X-chromosomes being metacentric and the largest elements of the complement. In males, the two acrocentrics and the large metacentric form a trivalent in meiotic prophase. This indicates that S. delicatus has XY1Y2 sex chromosomes, which is confirmed by G and DAPI bands. Constitutive heterochromatin (CH) is restricted to small pericentromeric blocks in all chromosomes. The X-chromosome shows the largest block of centromeric CH, which could favor the establishment of this X-autosome translocation. This sex chromosome system is rare in mammals and, compared with other phyllotine rodents, S. delicatus seems to have undergone a major chromosome restructuring during its karyotypic evolution.  相似文献

Drosophila nasuta albomicans (with 2n = 6), contains a pair of metacentric neo-sex chromosomes. Phylogenetically these are products of centric fusion between ancestral sex (X, Y) chromosomes and an autosome (chromosome 3). The polytene chromosome complement of males with a neo-X- and neo-Y-chromosomes has revealed asynchrony in replication between the two arms of the neo-sex chromosomes. The arm which represents the ancestral X-chromosome is faster replicating than the arm which represents ancestral autosome. The latter arm of the neo-sex chromosome is synchronous with other autosomes of the complement. We conclude that one arm of the neo-X/Y is still mimicking the features of an autosome while the other arm has the features of a classical X/Y-chromosome. This X-autosome translocation differs from the other evolutionary X-autosome translocations known in certain species ofDrosophila.  相似文献

Social selection model of two alleles at a locus has been constructed where the fitness of offspring is modified differentially by the sex of an affected parent. It has been shown that the equilibrium frequency of deleterious alleles depends on the loss of fitness of an individual due to the trait (gamma), due to an affected mother (beta 1) and affected father (beta 2), and the probability that the heterozygote develops the trait (h). The equilibrium gene frequency is given approximately by alpha/hs for 0 less than h less than or equal to 1 and square root alpha/s for h = 0, where s = gamma + (beta 1 + beta 2) (1 - gamma)/2 for multiplicative models. Two chromosome races of common shrew, Moscow and Seliger, differ in the arm combination in 11 diagnostic chromosomes (Robertsonian metacentrics/acrocentrics). Homozygotes of both pure races, simple Robertsonian heterozygotes of Seliger race, and complex heterozygotes (FI hybrids) were detected in the found earlier between hybrid zone of these races, in the spring before the breeding seasonbreeding season. The g/oheterozygote was first discovered in race Seliger, whose chromosome formula typically contains acrocentrics g and o. The m/q heterozygote was recorded for the second time. Meiosis was studied in 16 males representing five detected karyotypic categories. No abnormal in pairing of homologs in either sex trivalent common for the species (XY1Y2) or autosome trivalents (g/o and m/q) was detected at diakinesis--metaphase I. Two hybrids displayed a theoretically expected and unimpaired meiotic configuration in a form of a very long chain comprising 11 monobrachial homologs (g/gm/mq/qp/pr/rk/ki/ih/hn/no/o). Mitotic and meiotic chromosomes were studied in Giemsa post-stained Feulgen squashes of testicular, ovarian, and vitelline cells. G. catostomi is 2n = 20 with eight pairs of metacentrics and two pairs of submetacentrics in its karyotype. The fundamental number of chromosome arms is FN = 40. At mitotic metaphase the mean total chromosome length (TCL) of the complement was 111·4 μm; the largest chromosomes were 8 μm (7% TCL) and the smallest 3 μm (3% TCL). Karyotype variation was not found among five diploid populations from New York State and Canada. Meiotic activity was abundant in spermatogenesis which proceeds as usual with sperm developing after two meiotic divisions. Chiasma frequency at diakinesis was 37/cell; as many as five chiasmata were observed in a single bivalent. A triploid ‘race’ (3n = 30) of G. catostomi was discovered in Bozenkill Creek near Albany, New York. Karyotype analysis confirms the triploid nature of these variants. Spermatogenesis in triploids is abnormal to the point of complete failure. The presence of an extra set of chromosomes has resulted in a breakdown of meiosis with subsequent sterility of the male system. Eggs remain unfertilized and parthenogenetic reproduction is presumed to occur. The possible origins of this unusual condition and its evolutionary implications are discussed. In a review of chromosome numbers in the genus Potamogeton, we highlight numerous errors that have crept into the literature. These have resulted chiefly from reliance on abstracts in chromosome number indices and compilations, rather than on the original publications, but partly also because of misleading summaries even in the primary literature. We present a list of counts that we believe are original and genuine, and a list of those that were never made but which nevertheless appear in the literature. Scrutiny of the list of accepted counts indicates that aneuploidy is widespread in the genus and that transition between the two common chromosome numbers (2n=26 and 2n=28) has occurred several times. Currently available data are insufficient to resolve the question of the ancestral base number. We also present details of the first chromosome counts from English populations of five taxa: P. polygonifolius Pourr. (2n=28), P. pectinatus L. (2n=ca. 78), P. perfoliatus L. (2n=ca. 52), P.×nitens Weber (P. gramineus×P. perfoliatus) (2n=ca. 52) and P.×salicifolius Wolfg. (P. lucens×P. perfoliatus) (2n=ca. 52).  相似文献

Mitotic and meiotic chromosome preparations of the tufted deer (Elaphodus cephalophus) were studied to elucidate the sex-chromosomal polymorphism evidenced by this species. Females had 2n = 46 or 47 chromosomes, whereas males had 2n = 47 or 48 chromosomes. An X;autosome translocation was identified by synaptonemal complex analysis of spermatocytes at pachytene and confirmed by the presence of a trivalent at diakinesis/metaphase I. The present work, in combination with earlier observations by others, indicates that E. cephalophus possesses a varied X-chromosome morphology involving an X;autosome translocation and addition of varying amounts of heterochromatin. It is speculated that sex-chromosome polymorphism may be responsible for the observed differences in diploid chromosome number of tufted deer.  相似文献

A comparison of the karyotypes of races D (2n=8), E (2n=10), B (2n=12) and C (2n=16) of B. lineariloba suggests that these races have in common a basic set of four chromosome pairs, and that the higher chromosome number races are related to race D by successive chromosome addition. — A study of meiosis in B × C and A1 × B hybrids supports this contention and elucidates the homologies of the additional chromosomes. — Meiotic pairing in hybrids between A and C is very complex. At present it can only be stated that there are extensive interchromosomal homologies between the two races. — Two phyletic schemes of the relationships of the races are considered. The second, which is favoured, involves successive chromosome addition, with the quasidiploid race E (2n = 10) giving rise to race B by diploidisation of the univalent chromosomes. This scheme is supported by features of univalent behaviour in the various races and their hybrids. — The ecogeographic distribution pattern of the races shows replacement of D by E by B by C as the species extends into more arid and more harsh environments. This replacement is also associated with increasing vigour. — It seems most likely that the addition chromosomes are derived from a race A (2n=4) source since they are added always by twos, and each addition increases both vigour and drought tolerance. Race A is the most vigorous and one of the most drought tolerant of the five races.It is suggested that the evolution of the races can be related to the increasing aridity of the Late Pleistocene and Recent geological epochs.  相似文献

Hypotheses on the evolution of the karyotypes of 8 chromosome races (2n = 4, 6, 8, 10, 12, 16-two forms, 26) within theOrnithogalum tenuifolium complex are discussed. Four of the karyotypes are strictly bimodal: 2n = 8 (6 long and two short chromosomes), 2n = 10 (6 long and 4 short chromosomes), 2n = 12 (6 long and 6 short chromosomes) and 2n = 16 (12 long and 4 short chromosomes). The hypotheses are tested by means of measurements of nuclear DNA content, studies of meiosis and pollen fertility of hybrids, and comparisons of karyotype morphology. The results indicate that the E. African 2n = 12 chromosome race is the most primitive and has given rise to the other chromosome races. The 2n = 6 race is found to have a significantly higher fitness than the 2n = 12 race.  相似文献

The complex sex chromosome system of Lagorchestes conspicillatus has been reinvestigated using G-banding, Hoechst 33258 sensitivity, and Ag staining. These investigations demonstrate that, as proposed, three exchanges have been involved in the evolution of this system. An autosome was translocated to the original X and the homologue of that autosome was translocated to the original Y. An additional autosome has been translocated to the Y. There is no sex vesicle at meiosis in the male, and no association between the original X and Y elements of the compound chromosomes. The inadequacies of the present terminology for complex sex chromosomes are considered and an alternative system suggested.  相似文献

Understanding speciation and biodiversity patterns in plants requires knowledge of the general role of climate in allowing polyploids to escape competition and persist with their diploid progenitors. This is a particularly interesting issue in widespread species that present multiple ploidy levels and occur across a heterogeneous environment. Chrysolaena (Vernonieae, Asteraceae) is a cytogenetically very diverse genus, with significant interspecific and intraspecific ploidy level variation and with continuous distribution across South America. No previous studies have summarized chromosome count data of Chrysolaena or addressed the cytogeography of the genus. Ploidy level of Chrysolaena species was determined by chromosome counting during mitosis and/or meiosis; the geographic distribution of cytotypes was examined and the correlations between the distribution of particular cytotypes and current ecological conditions were evaluated. A total of 43 new chromosome counts and five ploidy levels (2x, 4x, 6x, 7x, 8x) were reported. The chromosome number of C. cordifolia (2n = 7x = 70) and a new cytotype for C. propinqua var. canescens (2n = 4x = 40) are reported for the first time. Three geographic areas with high diversity of cytotypes and species were detected. The results obtained do not suggest a clear distribution pattern that depends on climatic factors for Chrysolaena populations. However, a geographic pattern was identified in the distribution of ploidy levels, with diploid species presenting a more restricted distribution than polyploid species.  相似文献

In Helix pomatia L. recordings have been made of 91 single neurons from the cerebral ganglia during peripheral thermal stimulation of the lip region. Temperatures ranged between 12 and 32°C. Different reactions to thermal stimulation could be observed: hyperpolarisation (n=43), depolarisation (n=9), increasing frequency of action potentials (n=10), decreasing frequency of action potentials (n=3). A number of cells did not show any changes in neuronal activity (n=26). The assumption that distinct cell clusters are responsible for the processing of thermal stimuli had to be rejected since cells responding to peripheral thermal stimulation were found in all parts of the ganglia.  相似文献

The gekko Phyllodactylus marmoratus has at least three distinct chromosome races; 2n=36, 2n=36 ZZ/ZW and 2n=34. Specimens from these races are morphologically distinguishable, have a degree of habitat specialization and occur in a defined distribution. The 2n=36 race found in Eastern Australia is the presumed primordial type. The 2n=34 race occurs in Western Australia and is regarded as a fusion derivative. The 2n=36 ZZ/ZW race, which is only found on the Murray River system in Eastern Australia has a heteromorphic sex chromosome system present in the female. Giemsa banding suggests that this heteromorphism is the result of a pericentric inversion.  相似文献

Cytological studies on Rubenstrensa exasperatum were carried out. The number of chromosomes in diploid cells (2n=16), and the morphological characteristics of the karyotype were determined. All the chromosomes (from Nos 2 to 8) had a well-defined short arm and, in accordance with the Ic values, were determined to be meta-submetacentric. Polymorphism was established in the length of the 2 bomologues of the 1st chromosome. This pair is probably linked with sex determination.  相似文献

2016年夏在枣庄市山亭区的旧石器考古调查共发现新地点4处,分为两种堆积类型:一种为山前洪积褐土及其中的砂质条带(外峪子、马头、马窝地点),另一种系山前坡积棕黄色粉砂土(方山地点)。前三处地点(Waiyuzi, Matou, Mawo)属细石器传统,方山地点(FS)为使用砸击技术的小石器传统。调查共获得161件石制品,其中近1/3采自地层之中。类型包括石核/细石核、石片、石器、断块和残片;石料均采自附近山体中岩脉,主要是石英和燧石;4处地点均存在砸击技术,其中方山地点砸击技术表现尤为突出;石制品均以小型占绝大多数;石器包括刮削器、雕刻器和凹缺刮器,刮削器是主要类型。由地貌与地层对比可知,石制品埋藏于上更新统地层中,遗址时代大致为晚更新世晚期。  相似文献

长柄山蚂蝗属Podocarpium(Benth.)Yang et Huang属蝶形花科,间断分布于东亚和中北美洲,广布种分布到非洲和大洋洲。北美有4种,亚洲约有14种.我国约有该属植物11种,以西南和长江以南地区分布种类最多。国外已有人做过本属一半以上的种的染色体记数和核型。本文对本属的三个种.长柄山蚂蝗P.podocarpum(DC.)Yang et Huang,大苞长柄山蚂蝗P.williamsii(Pamp.)Yang et Huang和云南长柄山吗蝗P.du-clouxii(Pamp.)Yang et Huang进行了染色体的记数和核型描述,其中后两个种的工作属于首次。此外,本文还首次报道了山蚂蝗属两个种:Des-modium caudatum(Thunb.)DC.和D.yunnanense Franch.的染色体数目。  相似文献
