Energy transfer processes in photosynthetic light harvesting 2 (LH2) complexes isolated from purple bacterium Rhodopseudomonas palustris grown at different light intensities were studied by ground state and transient absorption spectroscopy. The decomposition of ground state absorption spectra shows contributions from B800 and B850 bacteriochlorophyll (BChl) a rings, the latter component splitting into a low energy and a high energy band in samples grown under low light (LL) conditions. A spectral analysis reveals strong inhomogeneity of the B850 excitons in the LL samples that is well reproduced by an exponential-type distribution. Transient spectra show a bleach of both the low energy and high energy bands, together with the respective blue-shifted exciton-to-biexciton transitions. The different spectral evolutions were analyzed by a global fitting procedure. Energy transfer from B800 to B850 occurs in a mono-exponential process and the rate of this process is only slightly reduced in LL compared to high light samples. In LL samples, spectral relaxation of the B850 exciton follows strongly nonexponential kinetics that can be described by a reduction of the bleach of the high energy excitonic component and a red-shift of the low energetic one. We explain these spectral changes by picosecond exciton relaxation caused by a small coupling parameter of the excitonic splitting of the BChl a molecules to the surrounding bath. The splitting of exciton energy into two excitonic bands in LL complex is most probably caused by heterogenous composition of LH2 apoproteins that gives some of the BChls in the B850 ring B820-like site energies, and causes a disorder in LH2 structure.  相似文献

Rhodopseudomonas palustris is a species of purple photosynthetic bacteria that has a multigene family of puc genes that encode the alpha and beta apoproteins, which form the LH2 complexes. A genetic dissection strategy has been adopted in order to try and understand which spectroscopic form of LH2 these different genes produce. This paper presents a characterisation of one of the deletion mutants generated in this program, the pucBAd only mutant. This mutant produces an unusual spectroscopic form of LH2 that only has a single large NIR absorption band at 800 nm. Spectroscopic and pigment analyses on this complex suggest that it has basically a similar overall structure as that of the wild-type HL LH2 complex. The mutant has the unique phenotype where the mutant LH2 complex is only produced when cells are grown at LL. At HL the mutant only produces the LH1-RC core complex.  相似文献

Monospecific antibodies directed against typical domains of type 1, 2, and 3 light-harvesting complex (LHC) II apoproteins have been used (a) to identify these apoproteins on denaturing sodium dodecyl sulfate gels of barley (Hordeum vulgare) thylakoids, (b) to determine their distribution between grana and stroma membranes, and (c) to follow their accumulation during light-induced greening of etioplasts. In addition, we have studied the light-induced assembly of chlorophyll-protein complexes with a native green gel system (K.D. Allen, L.A. Staehelin [1991] Anal Biochem 194: 214-222). Western blot analysis of the three major LHCII apoprotein bands has identified the highest molecular mass band at 27.5 kD as containing the type 2 LHCII apoproteins, the middle band at 26.9 kD as containing the type 1 LHCII apoproteins, and the lowest band at 26.0 kD as containing the type 3 LHCII apoproteins. During light-induced greening of 6-d-old etiolated barley seedlings, the type 1, 2, and 3 LHCII apoproteins accumulate simultaneously and at similar rates but appear somewhat sooner (< 4 h) in thylakoids from apical than from basal (4-8 h) leaf segments. LHCI polypeptides accrue with similar kinetics, whereas the 33-kD oxygen-evolving complex polypeptides can be detected already in the 0-h light samples. During the most rapid phase of thylakoid development (8-24 h), two slightly larger (28.3 and 28.7 kD) type 2 LHCII apoproteins (precursor intermediates?) also accumulate in the thylakoids. No corresponding higher molecular mass forms of type 1 and 3 LHCII apoproteins could be detected. It is interesting that differences are still apparent in the composition of chlorophyll-protein complexes of light-control plants and those of etiolated plants greened for 8 d.  相似文献

This study systematically investigated the different types of LH2 produced by Allochromatium (Alc.) vinosum, a photosynthetic purple sulphur bacterium, in response to variations in growth conditions. Three different spectral forms of LH2 were isolated and purified, the B800-820, B800-840 and B800-850 LH2 types, all of which exhibit an unusual split 800 peak in their low temperature absorption spectra. However, it is likely that more forms are also present. Relatively more B800-820 and B800-840 are produced under low light conditions, while relatively more B800-850 is produced under high light conditions. Polypeptide compositions of the three different LH2 types were determined by a combination of HPLC and TOF/MS. The B800-820, B800-840 and B800-850 LH2 types all have a heterogeneous polypeptide composition, containing multiple types of both α and β polypeptides, and differ in their precise polypeptide composition. They all have a mixed carotenoid composition, containing carotenoids of the spirilloxanthin series. In all cases the most abundant carotenoid is rhodopin; however, there is a shift towards carotenoids with a higher conjugation number in LH2 complexes produced under low light conditions. CD spectroscopy, together with the polypeptide analysis, demonstrates that these Alc. vinosum LH2 complexes are more closely related to the LH2 complex from Phs. molischianum than they are to the LH2 complexes from Rps. acidophila.  相似文献

The light-induced assembly of light-harvesting complex (LHC) II has been followed during the biogenesis of the plastid. Seedlings grown in intermittent light (IML) accumulate only small amounts of chlorophyll b. The minor LHC II apoproteins are present; however, the apoprotein levels of the major LHC II complex, LHC IIb, are severely depressed after exposure to IML. The levels of all LHC II apoproteins increase rapidly upon exposure to continuous illumination. The 25-kD, type 3 LHC IIb subunit appears to be more abundant during the early hours of greening in relation to its level in mature thylakoids. The LHC IIb apoproteins are initially associated with pigments to form monomeric pigment-protein complexes. The abundance of monomeric LHC IIb complexes gradually decreases during exposure to continuous light and a concomitant increase occurs in the amount of the trimeric and higher-order oligomeric forms. Pulse-chase experiments verify that labeled LHC IIb monomeric complexes are intermediates in the formation of trimeric and higher-order oligomeric LHC IIb-pigmented complexes. Therefore, the assembly of LHC II occurs via the initial pigmentation of the apoproteins to form monomeric complexes and proceeds in a sequential manner.  相似文献

Young chickens were administered L-[(3)H]leucine and after 10 or 30 min the livers were removed and fractioned into rough (RER) and smooth (SER) endoplasmic reticulum fractions and into light, intermediate, and heavy golgo cell fractions. The labeled high density lipoprotein (HDL), contained within these intracellular organelles was isolated either by immunoprecipitation using rabbit antiserum to rooster HDL, or by ultracentrifugal glotation between densities 1.063 and 1.21 g/ml. The radioactive apoproteins of nascent HDL were analyzed by SDS PAGE and detected by fluorography. Analyses of radioactive apoproteins obtained by immunoprecipitation from the contents of the RER, the SER, and the three golgi complex fractions revealed only one apoprotein, A1. The C peptide present in serum HDL was not detected intracellularly. The radioactive apoprotein A1 which is present within the cisternae of the RER and the SER fractions failed to float, whereas apoprotein A1, present within the golgi apparatus, readily floated between densities 1.063 and 1.21 g/ml. The HDL particles, isolated by flotation from the golgi apparatus content, were further characterized by lipid and protein analyses and by electron microscopy. Golgi HDL particles have the same density as serum HDL. On a percentage basis, golgi HDL contains less protein and more phospholipids than does serum HDL. Morphologically, golgi HDL is different in appearance from serum HDL. It is more heterogeneous in size, with most of the particles ranging 8.3-25 nm in diameter. The spherical particles contain small membrane tails. Occasionally, a few disk-shaped bilayer structures are also found within the golgi apparatus. These studies show that the newly synthesized apoprotein A1, present within the RER and the SER cell fractions, is not fully complexed with lipid and that apoprotein A1 does not acquire sufficient lipid to float at the proper HDL density until it enters the golgi apparatus. The difference in chemical composition and the heterogeneous size of golgi HDL may be attributed to the different stages of HDL maturation.  相似文献

Apoproteins of hen's egg yolk very low density lipoprotein has been separated by Sephadex G-200 gel filtration in 0.5% sodium dodecyl sulfate into three categories of proteins termed apoprotein A, apoprotein B and apoprotein C. Apoprotein A fraction consists of several aggregated proteins (linked possibly by -S-S- bridges) as shown by acrylamide gel electrophoresis in the presence of 2-mercaptoethanol. Apoprotein B contains two major protein components, B1 and B2, with molecular weights of 78 000 and 64 000, respectively, and two minor proteins components. Apoprotein C was obtained in a pure form as a low molecular weight, -S-S- linked dimer protein and accounted for about 30% of the total protein. In the monomeric form, apoprotein C has a molecular weight of 9400. Apoprotein A and apoprotein B have similar amino acid composition, except in isoleucine content which is over two times in apoprotein B as compared to apoprotein A. Apoprotein C lacks histidine and is richer in arginine than apoproteins A or B. Apoprotein C has lysine as N-terminal, while apoproteins A and B have predominantly arginine as the N-terminal amino acid. All the three fractions contain carbohydrate residues, apoprotein B being the richest in carbohydrate content. Cold-stored apoproteins A forms a clear gel when dispersed in 0.5% sodium dodecyl sulfate at concentration of above 2 mg/ml, while apoprotein B forms a gel only above 10 mg/ml. Apoprotein C, even at 35 mg/ml, forms a clear solution with no tendency to gel.  相似文献

Reassembly experiments, involving isolated human apoproteins A-I and A-II and (dimyristoylglycerophosphocholine)-cholesterol vesicles were performed with apoprotein mixtures at apoprotein A-I/A-II molar ratios varying between 0 and 3. The apoproteins were incubated at 24 degrees C. 28 degrees C and 32 degrees C with either pure dimyristoyl-glycerophosphocholine vesicles or with dimyristoylglycerophosphocholine cholesterol vesicles containing 2, 5, 10, 15 mol/100 mol cholesterol. The kinetics of association were followed by measuring the increase of the fluorescence polarization ratio after labeling the lipids with diphenyl hexatriene. The complexes were separated from the free protein by gradient ultracentrifugation. Total protein was assayed and the apoproteins A-I and A-II were quantified separately by immunonephelometry. The content of apoprotein A-I was also monitored by measuring the intrinsic tryptophan fluorescence. The results suggest that apoprotein A-II has a greater affinity than apoprotein A-I for the phospholipid-cholesterol vesicles and that apoprotein A-II is able to quantitatively displace apoprotein A-I from the lipid-protein complexes. The content of apoprotein A-II in the complexes increases proportionally to the concentration of apoprotein A-II in the incubation mixture until saturation is reached. At saturation the dimyristoylglycerophosphocholine/apoprotein A-II ratio in the complex is dependent upon the cholesterol content of the original vesicles and increases from 60 to 275 mol/mol between 0 and 15 mol/100 mol cholesterol. From these experiments one can calculate that 1 mol human apoprotein A-I is displaced by 2 mol human apoprotein A-II.  相似文献

Chlorophyll apoprotein accumulation and expression were examined in mutants of Chlamydomonas reinhardtii blocked at specific steps of carotenoid or chlorophyll synthesis. In the absence of carotenoids: 1) apoproteins of the core and light-harvesting complexes of photosystem I (CCI and LHCI, respectively) and photosystem II (CCII and LHCII, respectively) do not accumulate; 2) mRNAs for the CCI, CCII, and LHCII apoproteins accumulate to normal levels; and 3) synthesis of the chlorophyll apoproteins is differentially affected, or in some cases, not affected. In the absence of chlorophylls: 1) the apoproteins fail to accumulate; 2) mRNA levels for CCI and CCII apoproteins are relatively unchanged; 3) levels of LHCII apoprotein mRNA, but not rates of LHCII mRNA synthesis, are reduced in a light-dependent chlorophyll-synthesis mutant (ya12); and 4) synthesis of chlorophyll apoproteins is differentially affected or not affected in the case of several chloroplast-encoded apoproteins. These results demonstrate a direct role for carotenoids as well as chlorophylls in the stabilization of certain chlorophyll apoproteins and, for others, possibly in their translation. The data also indicate a role for chlorophyll synthesis in the stability of LHCII mRNA.  相似文献

Rhodopseudomonas palustris belongs to the group of purple bacteria that have the ability to produce LH2 complexes with unusual absorption spectra when they are grown at low-light intensity. This ability is often related to the presence of multiple genes encoding the antenna apoproteins. Here we report, for the first time to our knowledge, direct evidence that individual low-light LH2 complexes have a heterogeneous αβ-apoprotein composition that modulates the site energies of Bchl a molecules, producing absorption bands at 800, 820, and 850 nm. The arrangement of the Bchl a molecules in the “tightly coupled ring” can be modeled by nine αβ-Bchls dimers, such that the Bchls bound to six αβ-pairs have B820-like site energies and the remaining Bchl a molecules have B850-like site energies. Furthermore, the experimental data can only be satisfactorily modeled when these six αβ-pairs with B820 Bchl a molecules are distributed such that the symmetry of the assembly is reduced to C3. It is also clear from the measured single-molecule spectra that the energies of the electronically excited states in the mixed B820/850 ring are mainly influenced by diagonal disorder.  相似文献

Plasma hormone levels were examined in 4 mature Zebu bulls of normal libido (HL) and 4 which were sexually inactive (LL). When used in an artificial insemination programme the 8 bulls had similar fertility. Basal levels of LH and testosterone (T) estimated from 8 sequential blood samples at 30 minute intervals were not different in HL and LL bulls. Exposure of the animals to an estrous cow did not stimulate LH release. Following sexual stimulation plasma T levels actually decreased by an average (±S.E) of 2.9 (±1.9) ng/ml in the HL group and increased by 3.9 (±1.6) ng/ml in the LL group. An injection of 1 mg GnRH (Hoechst) caused LH release of similar magnitude in HL and LL bulls. The elevation of plasma T which followed GnRH injection was significantly larger in HL bulls.Low libido was not associated with a deficiency of basal LH or T, nor with the ability of the pituitary to respond to GnRH.  相似文献

The effects of human plasma lipoprotein-proteins on the removal of cellular lipids from Landschütz ascites cells were studied. Cellular lipids were labeled by injecting mice previously injected with ascites with either [3H]cholesterol or [3H]choline. Apoproteins from very low density (apoC-I, C-II, and C-111) and high density (apoA-I and A-II) lipoproteins were used. Each of the apoproteins alone was ineffective in removing cellular [3H]cholesterol. However, when synthetic phosphatidylcholines of known composition were added to each apoprotein and the experiments were repeated using either apoprotein-lipid mixtures or ultracentrifugally isolated complexes, the removal of sterol was considerably enhanced. Complexes of saturated phosphatidylcholines with apoA-II, apoC-I, or apoC-III were the most effective in releasing cellular sterol. Apoprotein-phospholipid complexes were much less effective in removing cellular [3H]phosphatidylcholine than the free apoproteins; apoA-I and apoC-I were the best of the five apoproteins studied. When a comparison was made of the adsorption of iodinated apoproteins to ascites cells, 3 to 4 times more apoA-II and apoC-III were bound than apoA-I. The binding of apoproteins was time and temperature dependent. Approximately 50% of the radioactivity that remained in the washed cells was removed with trypsin. To determine if the counts remaining in the trypsin-treated cells were internalized, identical experiments were performed using human erythrocytes, cells that do not exhibit pinocytosis. Again, approximately 50% of the radioactivity of the iodinated apoproteins was not released by trypsin. Succinylation of apoA-II not only destroys its phospholipid-binding properties but also its adsorption to red cells. These results suggest that the plasma apoproteins differ in their ability to remove cellular lipids and bind to both ascites and red cell membranes, and possibly to specific phospholipids, in such a way that only a part of the apoprotein is degraded with proteases.  相似文献

The formation constants for complexes of Cu(II) with GHL and a series of related dipeptides were determined by means of potentiometric titration and ESR spectroscopy in aqueous solution. The complex formation of the related peptides AH, LH, HL, GL and VL is compared to that of GHL. The somewhat higher affinity of GHL to Cu(II) as compared to AH and LH seems to be a poor explanation for the biological functions of GHL. A dimeric Cu(II)HL complex is detected, which displays an ESR spectrum at room temperature. The ESR spectra of the different complexes and the influences of structures on the spectra are discussed.  相似文献

Possibly the most abundant group of anoxygenic phototrophs are marine photoheterotrophic Gammaproteobacteria belonging to the NOR5/OM60 clade. As little is known about their photosynthetic apparatus, the photosynthetic complexes from the marine phototrophic bacterium Congregibacter litoralis KT71 were purified and spectroscopically characterised. The intra-cytoplasmic membranes contain a smaller amount of photosynthetic complexes when compared with anaerobic purple bacteria. Moreover, the intra-cytoplasmic membranes contain only a minimum amount of peripheral LH2 complexes. The complexes are populated by bacteriochlorophyll a, spirilloxanthin and two novel ketocarotenoids, with biophysical and biochemical properties similar to previously characterised complexes from purple bacteria. The organization of the RC-LH1 complex has been further characterised using cryo-electron microscopy. The overall organisation is similar to the complex from the gammaproteobacterium Thermochromatium tepidum, with the type-II reaction centre surrounded by a slightly elliptical LH1 antenna ring composed of 16 αβ-subunits with no discernible gap or pore. The RC-LH1 and LH2 apoproteins are phylogenetically related to other halophilic species but LH2 also to some alphaproteobacterial species. It seems that the reduction of light-harvesting apparatus and acquisition of novel ketocarotenoids in Congregibacter litoralis KT71 represent specific adaptations for operating the anoxygenic photosynthesis under aerobic conditions at sea.  相似文献

The hypothesis that the apoprotein composition of nascent very-low-density lipoprotein (VLDL) secreted by the hepatocyte is determined by the relative rates of apoprotein synthesis and their affinities of binding to VLDL was tested using chick hepatocytes in monolayer culture. Chick cells were chosen for the study of lipoprotein assembly since estradiol treatment can be used to alter the composition of the apoprotein mixture synthesized by these cells. The secretion of apoprotein (apo) B by estradiol-treated hepatocytes was elevated 4.2-fold above the basal level measured in control cells. Furthermore, estradiol-treated cells secreted apo-II, a major VLDL apoprotein not synthesized prior to estradiol treatment, at a level equivalent to that of apo-B. However, no difference in the secretion of apo-A-I and other newly identified nascent VLDL apoproteins was detected. These changes in relative rates of apoprotein synthesis altered the composition of nascent VLDL secreted by control versus estradiol-induced cells from: apo-B, 22 to 40%; apo-II, 0 to 32%; apo-37 kDa, 14 to 6%; apo-A-I, 31 to 12%; apo-17 kDa, 10 to 4%; apo-9 kDa, 15 to less than 10%; and apo-6 kDa, 8 to less than 2%. To investigate the basis for the preferential incorporation of apo-B and apo-II into nascent VLDL, the relative affinities of the apoproteins for VLDL were compared by measuring their capacities to transfer from VLDL into other lipoprotein or nonlipoprotein density classes. Culture medium containing [3H]leucine-labeled VLDL was incubated with plasma deficient in lipoproteins of rho less than 1.006 g/ml. Within 30 min of incubation at 37 degrees C, 3H-labeled apo-A-I and apo-9 kDa exchanged between VLDL and high-density lipoprotein, whereas apo-37 kDa exchanged between VLDL and the rho greater than 1.21 g/ml fraction. Neither apo-B nor apo-II underwent transfer from nascent VLDL. These results suggest that the relative rates of input of apoproteins into the secretory pathway and their affinities of binding to the nascent VLDL particle determine their extent of incorporation into, and, thus, the apoprotein composition of secreted VLDL.  相似文献

Cholesterol feeding in miniature swine resulted in a hypercholesterolemia with a distinctive hyperlipoproteinemia and the subsequent development of atherosclerosis. Alterations in the type and distribution of plasma lipoproteins induced by cholesterol feeding were as follows: (a) the occurrence of beta-migrating lipoproteins (B-VLDL) as well as very low density lipoproteins in the d less than 1.006 ultracentrifugal fraction; (b) an increased prominence of the intermediate lipoproteins (d = 1.006-1.02); (c) an increased prominence of low density lipoproteins; and (d) the occurrence of a distinctive lipoprotein with alpha mobility which was referred to as HDLc (cholesterol induced). Characterization of the various plasma lipoproteins included chemical composition, size by electron microscopy, and apoprotein content. The B-VLDL resembled the beta-migrating lipoproteins of human Type III hyperlipoproteinemia and contained a prominent protein equivalent to the arginine-rich apoprotein in addition to the B apoprotein, apo-A-I, and the fast-migrating apoproteins (apo-C). The HDLc were rich in cholesterol, ranged in size from 100 to 240 A in diameter, and contained the arginine-rich apoprotein and apo-A0I but lacked the B apoprotein. The arginine-rich apoproteins isolated from B-VLDL and HDLc by gel chromatography were similar in amino acid analyses, with glutamic acid as their amino-terminal residue. The occurrence of a spectrum of cholesterol-rich lipoproteins which contained the arginine-rich apoprotein with the occurrence of accelerated atherosclerosis suggested an interesting, although speculative, association.  相似文献

The photosystem (PS) II antenna system comprises several biochemically and spectroscopically distinct complexes, including light-harvesting complex II (LHCII), chlorophyll-protein complex (CP) 29, CP26, and CP24. LHCII, the most abundant of these, is both structurally and functionally diverse. The photosynthetic apparatus is laterally segregated within the thylakoid membrane into PSI-rich and PSII-rich domains, and the distribution of antenna complexes between these domains has implications for antenna function. We report a detailed analysis of the differences in the polypeptide composition of LHCII, CP29, and CP26 complexes associated with grana and stroma thylakoid fractions from spinach (Spinacia oleracea L.), making use of a very high-resolution denaturing gel system, coupled with immunoblots using monospecific antibodies to identify specific antenna components. We first show that the polypeptide composition of the PSII antenna system is more complex than previously thought. We resolved at least five type I LHCII apoproteins and two to three type II LHCII apoproteins. We also resolved at least two apoproteins each for CP29 and CP26. In state 1-adapted grana and stroma thylakoid membranes, the spectrum of LHCII apoproteins is surprisingly similar. However, in addition to overall quantitative differences, we saw subtle but reproducible qualitative differences in the spectrum of LHCII apoproteins in grana and stroma membrane domains, including two forms of the major type II apoprotein. The implications of these findings for models of PSII antenna function in spinach are discussed.  相似文献

Monospecific antisera were produced to two chylomicron apoproteins (apoB, apoA-I) and utilized for indirect immunofluorescent localization of these apoproteins within rat intestinal epithelium during normal and impaired lipid absorption. Isolated intestinal epithelial cells prepared after different periods of lipid absorption from in situ intestinal segments revealed a rapid increase in fluorescence for both apoproteins that filled the entire apical portion of the cell. Prolonged lipid absorption for as long as 5 hr demonstrated sustained immunofluorescence and gave no indication of a depletion of the intestinal mucosa for either apoprotein during normal lipid absorption. [(3)H]Leucine incorporation into mesenteric lymph chylomicron apoproteins showed a linear decrease in specific activity of total chylomicron protein as well as apoB over 4 hr of a continuous lipid infusion indicating sustained active apoprotein synthesis during prolonged lipid absorption. Acetoxycloheximide, a potent inhibitor of protein synthesis, was employed to determine the dynamics of chylomicron apoproteins during an experimental condition of impaired lipid absorption. In animals with inhibited protein synthesis, fluorescence for both apoproteins was present early in the course of lipid absorption; however, at 60 min after the onset of lipid absorption, fluorescence for both apoproteins was absent. Fluorescence for both apoproteins returned during the recovery of protein synthesis. The present studies have confirmed previous results that localized two chylomicron apoproteins within intestinal epithelial cells. The present studies extend these observations and disclose a rapid and sustained synthesis of these apoproteins during prolonged chylomicron formation. During an experimental condition of impaired protein synthesis there was a marked reduction in the mucosal content of both apoA-I and apoB. These results are the first demonstration of impaired mucosal apoprotein synthesis during an experimental model of impaired lipid absorption.  相似文献

The plasma lipoproteins of the Zucker fatty rat were characterized with respect to lipid and apoprotein composition, and results were compared with those obtained from lean controls. Information on apoproteins was obtained from gel filtration experiments and electrophoresis on polyacrylamide gels. Very low density lipoproteins (VLDL) were increased several-fold in fatties, and 78% of their mass was triglycerides compared with 60% in the controls. Low density (LDL) and high density (HDL) lipoproteins were increased by a factor of 2, although their compositions were similar to those of the controls. Levels of apoVLDL, apoLDL, and apoHDL were five, two and two times higher, respectively, in the fatties, and the two most rapidly moving subunit peptides on polyacrylamide gels were disproportionately elevated in the apoproteins. The slower of these two bands was present in relatively greater amounts than the faster one in fatties. If the slower peptide is an activator of lipoprotein lipase, analogous to the comparable subunit peptides of human apolipoproteins, plasmas of fatties could contain up to 10 times more lipase activator activity than control plasma. This finding, and the fact that adipose tissue lipoprotein lipase activity of fatties was about 150% of controls, suggests that fatties have increased capacities for VLDL catabolism. We have previously shown that hepatic VLDL secretory rates are higher than normal in these animals. The increased capacity for catabolism may be a response to the altered secretory rates.  相似文献
