目的:评估中老年女性血清铁蛋白(SF)水平与年龄和体质指数(BMI)之间的关系。方法:选自中国4046 名健康女性进行横 断面研究,受试者年龄均在45-70 岁并签署了知情同意书。所有受试者血清铁蛋白水平采用放射免疫分析法测定。采用Spearman 秩相关检验分析血清铁蛋白与各指标之间的相关性。不同组别SF 差异的显著性用Kruskal-Wallis 秩和检验来比较。结果: Spearman 相关性分析显示血清铁蛋白与年龄(r = 0.425;p < 0.05)和BMI(r = 0.238;p < 0.05)均呈正相关。Kruskal-Wallis 秩和检 验显示不同年龄组和不同BMI组的血清铁蛋白水平均有显著性差异(p < 0.05)。65-70 岁人群的血清铁蛋白平均水平比45-50 岁 人群高出近两倍。并且肥胖人群中血清铁蛋白水平要远远高于偏瘦人群。结论:中老年女性铁储存的增加与年龄的增长和体质指 数的增加呈现正相关关系。  相似文献

The pair of giant reciprocally coupled neurons VD1 and RPaD2 within the CNS of the freshwater pond snail Lymnaea stagnalis was used to analyse the effect of hydrogen peroxide on gap-junction connection. Electrical activity of VD1/RPaD2 was recorded with intracellular microelectrodes in order to analyse gap-junction signalling. Hydrogen peroxide application (1 × 10?? M) results in a rapid, 1.3-fold, increase in VD1/RPaD2 spiking frequency within 30 s after application. This was accompanied by a slight reduction in action potential amplitude. In addition, H?O? induced a significant reduction in the steady-state bidirectional coupling ratio between the neurons. The maximal reduction in the coupling ratio, 1.8-1.9 fold, was measured 3 min after H?O? application. However, the network input resistance did not undergo a detectable change. The voltage-gated Ca2? channel blocker, nifedipine (1 × 10?? M), abolished the effect of H?O? on the coupling ratio and firing frequency. All the effects of H?O? were reversible, that is, washing the preparation with standard physiological saline restored the properties of the neuronal coupling to the pre-treatment value. These data are consistent with a dynamic modulation of the gap-junction properties by H?O? between these two neurons.  相似文献

The purpose of this study was to investigate whether indices of cardiorespiratory fitness are related to quality of life (QOL) in women survivors of breast cancer. Using the European Organization for Research and Treatment of Cancer QLQ-30 questionnaire, we assessed the QOL of 16 participants (age, 50 +/- 9 years; body mass, 66.6 +/- 9.6 kg). All participants performed incremental cycle ergometer exercise to determine several indices of cardiorespiratory fitness (e.g., peak oxygen uptake [.V(O2)peak, in L.min(-1), ml.kg(-1).min(-1)]), peak power output (PPO, in W), PPO/ body mass (W.kg(-1), peak heart rate (HRpeak, b.min(-1), peak ventilation (VEpeak), and .V(O2) and heart rate (HR) at the ventilatory (VT) and respiratory compensation (RCT) thresholds. Relationships between QOL and variables were assessed using Spearman rank-difference correlation tests. A significant inverse relationship (p < 0.05) was found for QOL scores and values for age (years) and body mass (kg) ( = -0.53), %HRpeak@VT ( = -0.59) and %VEpeak@VT ( = -0.61). A significant positive relationship (p < 0.05) was found for QOL and PPO/body mass ( = 0.59) and HRpeak ( = 0.78), .V(O2)@RCT (ml.kg(-1.min(-1) ( = 0.51), power output (PO, expressed as either W or W.kg(-1) at RCT, and HR at RCT ( = 0.54). No other significant relationship was found between QOL and variables obtained from the tests. In conclusion, these findings highlight possible relationships between cardiorespiratory fitness and well-being in survivors of breast cancer. From a practical point of view, our data emphasize the need for this population to engage in programmed cardiorespiratory exercise training, mainly designed to improve VT and RCT. The improvement of both submaximal indices can have a beneficial effect on QOL.  相似文献

确定浅水草型湖泊水草资源对放养中华绒螯蟹的承载量是探明水草多元功能的途径之一。本研究通过构建中华绒螯蟹栖息与生长所需的小生境,观察和分析了蟹-草之间的相互关系。试验结果显示苦草对放养中华绒螯蟹的承载量为1.08ind/100g/m~2,中华绒螯蟹的生长比速SGR(%/day)与其对苦草的拥有量Vp(g/m~2/ind)呈正相关,即SGR=0.464 0.003Vp。中华绒螯蟹特别是雄蟹对苦草的影响主要表现为破坏性,破坏率VD(g/ind/m~2/d)与雌、雄蟹的放养密度(S_F,S_m,ind/m~2)有显著的线性关系,即V_D=2.08 0.11S_F 5.83S_M。实验结果为草型湖泊渔-蟹混养生态渔业管理提供了理论依据。  相似文献

The purpose of the present study was to assess the ability of TMG in detecting mechanical fatigue induced by two different resistance exercises on biceps brachii: high-volume (HV), and high-load (HL). Sixteen healthy subjects (age 25.1±2.6years; body mass 79.9±8.9kg; height 179±7.4cm) performed arm-curl in two different protocols (HV: 8×15×10kg, HL: 5×3×30kg). Tensiomyography was used to assess muscle response to both exercise protocols. The contractile capacity of biceps brachii significantly varied by means of the effects of potentiation and fatigue mechanisms that take place at different exercise phases. The most significant changes correspond to values of maximum radial displacement of muscle belly (D(m)), sustained contraction time (T(s)), relaxation time (T(r)), and contraction velocity (V(c)). The behavior of these parameters is, in general, similar in both exercise protocols, but they show subtle differences among them. During the first set, in both protocols, values for V(c) increase, along with a decrease in T(r), T(s), and D(m) values. Fatigue onset was evident from changes in such parameters, with HL being the first in showing these mechanisms. Tensiomyography has been shown to be highly sensitive in detecting fatigue-induced changes.  相似文献

An inappropriate prosthetic fit could cause stress over the interface implant/bone. The objective of this study was to compare stresses transmitted to implants from frameworks cast using different materials and to investigate a possible correlation between vertical misfits and these stresses. Fifteen one-piece cast frameworks simulating bars for fixed prosthesis in a model with five implants were fabricated and arranged into three different groups according to the material used for casting: CP Ti (commercially pure titanium), Co-Cr (cobalt-chromium) or Ni-Cr-Ti (nickel-chromium-titanium) alloys. Each framework was installed over the metal model with all screws tightened to a 10 N cm torque and then, vertical misfits were measured using an optical microscope. The stresses transmitted to implants were measured using quantitative photoelastic analysis in values of maximum shear stress (τ), when each framework was tightened to the photoelastic model to a 10 N cm standardized torque. Stress data were statistically analyzed using one-way ANOVA and Tukey's test and correlation tests were performed using Pearson's rank correlation (α = 0.05). Mean and standard deviation values of vertical misfit are presented for CP Ti (22.40 ± 9.05 μm), Co-Cr (66.41 ± 35.47 μm) and Ni-Cr-Ti (32.20 ± 24.47 μm). Stresses generated by Co-Cr alloy (τ = 7.70 ± 2.16 kPa) were significantly higher than those generated by CP Ti (τ = 5.86 ± 1.55 kPa, p = 0.018) and Ni-Cr-Ti alloy (τ = 5.74 ± 3.05 kPa, p = 0.011), which were similar (p = 0.982). Correlations between vertical misfits and stresses around the implants were not significant as for any evaluated materials.  相似文献

24,25-Dihydroxyvitamin D (24,25VD) is a major catabolite of 25-hydroxyvitamin D (25VD) metabolism, and may be physiologically active. Our objectives were to: (1) characterize the response of serum 24,25VD(3) to vitamin D(3) (VD(3)) supplementation; (2) test the hypothesis that a higher 24,25VD(3) to 25VD(3) ratio (24,25:25VD(3)) predicts 25VD(3) response. Serum samples (n=160) from wk 2 and wk 6 of a placebo-controlled, randomized clinical trial of VD(3) (28,000IU/wk) were analyzed for serum 24,25VD(3) and 25VD(3) by mass spectrometry. Serum 24,25VD(3) was highly correlated with 25VD(3) in placebo- and VD(3)-treated subjects at each time point (p<0.0001). At wk 2, the 24,25:25VD(3) ratio was lower with VD(3) than with placebo (p=0.035). From wk 2 to wk 6, the 24,25:25VD(3) ratio increased with the VD(3) supplement (p<0.001) but not with placebo, such that at wk 6 this ratio did not significantly differ between groups. After correcting for potential confounders, we found that 24,25:25VD(3) at wk 2 was inversely correlated to the 25VD(3) increment by wk 6 in the supplemented group (r=-0.32, p=0.02) but not the controls. There is a strong correlation between 24,25VD(3) and 25VD(3) that is only modestly affected by VD(3) supplementation. This indicates that the catabolism of 25VD(3) to 24,25VD(3) rises with increasing 25VD(3). Furthermore, the initial ratio of serum 24,25VD(3) to 25VD(3) predicted the increase in 25VD(3). The 24,25:25VD(3) ratio may therefore have clinical utility as a marker for VD(3) catabolism and a predictor of serum 25VD(3) response to VD(3) supplementation.  相似文献

Time series of tree-ring anatomical features are important to understand the functional role of xylem plasticity over the life span of trees, and thus to reconstruct past ecological and climatic conditions. Holm oak (Quercus ilex L.) is a drought-tolerant tree widely distributed in the Mediterranean Basin. Chronologies of tree-ring width (TRW), vessel lumen area [maximum (MAX) and mean (MVA)] and vessel density (VD) were developed for the period 1942–2001. Each ring was divided into three sections to compare the intra-annual variation of vessel features with the climate conditions during the growing season. The common variability of tree-growth and vessel features was analyzed using a principal component analysis (PCA). Vessel lumen area (MAX and MVA) and TRW loaded positively on the first axis (PC1), whereas VD from the first and second part of the ring (VD1 and VD2) loaded negatively, suggesting that these variables share a common variance. On the other hand, VD in the last third of the ring (VD3) loaded positively on second axis (PC2). PC1 showed a strong positive correlation with precipitation during the hydrological year (prior October–September) and a negative correlation with temperature in spring (April–May), while PC2 showed a negative correlation with precipitation in June. Our results showed that TRW and vessel lumen area were mainly dependent on moisture conditions along the growing season, while vessel density probably plays an important role in the balance between hydraulic conductivity and safety to embolism to better adjust the hydraulic system to water availability.  相似文献

Previous research has related the results of tests of maximum aerobic capacity to performance for endurance athletes. These results are often only able to predict the running velocity of races such as the marathon. This investigation sought to determine the absolute V[Combining Dot Above]O2 at various respiratory exchange ratio (RER) values (0.85, 0.90, 0.95, 1.0, 1.05, and 1.10) by using a third-order polynomial regression to model the physiological responses for V[Combining Dot Above]O2 and RER obtained from an assessment of maximum aerobic capacity. The V[Combining Dot Above]O2 determined was subsequently correlated to race performance. The participants in the study were selected from a population of National Collegiate Athletic Association Division 1 crosscountry runners (male n = 7, female n = 7, age 20.5 ± 0.9 years; height 170.3 ± 8.2 cm; weight 59.7 ± 8.7 kg; V[Combining Dot Above]O2max 57.0 ± 7.8 ml O2·kg·min). Third-order regression analysis resulted in strong curve fitting between the variables (r = 0.949 ± 0.03). Partial correlations (controlled for weight) were used to assess the relationship between oxygen consumption at the desired points of RER and race performance. The partial correlations revealed that the absolute oxygen consumptions at all RER points of interest were significantly correlated to race performance (r > 0.740, p < 0.01). There was a significant difference in the strength of the correlations for the points RER 0.95 (t = 2.68957, p = 0.01), 1.0 (t = 2.18516, p = 0.03), and 1.05 (t = 1.85668, p = 0.04) and the correlations found for RER 0.85. After converting the oxygen consumption at the RER points to estimated horizontal running speeds, only the estimate at RER 1.05 was not statistically different from the actual speed achieved in the culminating XC race. It can be suggested based upon these results that coaches of collegiate crosscountry runners who engage in metabolic testing of athletes examine the estimated running pace at RER 1.05 to gain an insight into a runner's potential.  相似文献

Physiological responses and time-motion characteristics of 4-A-side small-sided game in young soccer players: The influence of different team formation methods. J Strength Cond Res 26(11): 3118-3123, 2012-The purpose of this study was to examine the influence of different team formation methods on the physiological responses to and time-motion characteristics of 4-a-side small-sided games (SSG4) in young soccer players. Thirty-two young soccer players (age 16.2 ± 0.7 years; height 172.9 ± 6.1 cm; body mass 64.1 ± 7.7 kg) voluntarily participated in this study. Anthropometric measurements, technical tests, and maximum oxygen uptake (V[Combining Dot Above]O2max) tests were carried out on the players. The SSG4 teams were then created using 4 different methods: according to the coaches' subjective evaluation (CE), technical scores (TS), V[Combining Dot Above]O2max (AP), and V[Combining Dot Above]O2max multiplied by TSs (CG). The teams thus created played 4 bouts of SSG4 at 2-day intervals. During the SSG4, heart rate (HR) responses, distance covered, and time spent in HRmax zones were recorded. In addition, rating of perceived exertion (RPE) and blood lactate level (La) were determined at the end of the last bout of each SSG4. Percent of HRmax (%HRmax), La, and RPE responses during SSG4 were significantly higher for teams chosen according to AP and CG compared with that according to CE and TS (p < 0.05). In addition, teams chosen by AP and CG spent significantly more time in zone 4 (>90% HRmax ) and covered a greater distance in the high-intensity running zone (>18 km·h) than did teams formed according to TS. Moreover, AP teams covered significantly greater total distance than TS teams did (p < 0.05). In conclusion, to spend more time in both the high-intensity HR zone and the high-intensity running zone, the teams in SSG4 should be formed according to the players' V[Combining Dot Above]O2max values or the values calculated using both the V[Combining Dot Above]O2max and technique scores.  相似文献

To study the allometric relationship between standard metabolic rate and body mass (mass range 16-3627 g) in green iguanas, Iguana iguana (n=32), we measured rates of oxygen consumption (V(O(2))) at 30 degrees C during scotophase. The relationship could be described as: V(O(2))(ml h(-1))=0.478W(0.734). The resulting mass exponent was similar to the 3/4 power commonly used in interspecific curves (P>0.05), but differed from a proposed intraspecific value of 2/3 (P<0.05). The mass exponents of male (n=8) and female (n=11) iguanas did not differ (P>0.05). The mass adjusted V(O(2)) was higher than predicted from generalized squamate curves. The mean mass exponent of intra-individual allometric equations of iguanas (n=7) at varying masses during ontogeny did not differ from that of the pooled equation, indicating that scaling of V(O(2)) is similar for both between and within individuals. Thermal acclimation, compensatory changes in V(O(2)) with prolonged exposure to a constant temperature, was not observed in juvenile iguanas (n=11) between 1 and 5 weeks of acclimation at 30 degrees C.  相似文献

There is evidence to suggest that Cu(II) is involved in the natural spinning process of a silkworm helping to convert the concentrated silk fibroin (SF) solution (or dope) into tough insoluble threads. To investigate the interaction between SF and Cu(II), a series of regenerated SF (RSF) films with different mass ratios of Cu(II) to SF were prepared. X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS) was employed to study the chemical interaction between Cu(II) and SF in these Cu(II)-RSF films. A significant change in the binding energy of Cu 2p(3/2) demonstrated that the chemical state of Cu(II) in the Cu(II)-RSF films was affected by the interaction between Cu(II) and SF. Moreover, chemical shifts of N 1s and O 1s of SF were also detected, implying that Cu(II) may coordinate with both N and O atoms in the SF. In addition, Raman spectra of the same series of Cu(II)-RSF films recorded the conformation transition of SF that may occur by the coordination of Cu(II) and SF macromolecular chains.  相似文献

ELISA for soluble fibrin (SF) quantification has been elaborated on the basis of our fibrin-specific monoclonal antibodies (mAb). Epitope for these mAb is localized in fibrin fragment Bbeta118-134. The method was used on the blood plasma of healthy pregnant women (control group) and pregnant women with the risk of fetal loss (RFL). The increased mean values of SF concentrations were observed at pregnancy with RFL as compared to the normal pregnancy at the terms from 4 to 24 weeks (17.87 +/- 3.15 mkg/ml and 9.03 +/- 1.58 mkg/ml accordingly, p < 0.05). A weak negative correlation between SF concentration and pregnancy term was found at RFL (r = -0.201, n=35), while there was no correlation between these variables in control group (r = 0.004, n=28). The mean values of SF concentration estimated by semiquantitative test (by phosphates salting out of SF) were also higher at the pregnancy with RFL as compared to the normal pregnancy. However, the absolute values of SF concentrations determined by salting out method were essentially higher than in the case of ELISA. Immunoblot analysis with mAb 2d-2a (epitope for which in fibrin molecule encompasses peptide bond Bbeta14-15), showed that the main molecular component of SF at normal pregnancy and RFL was oligomeric fibrin desAA with possible incorporation of fibrinogen and/or fibrin desA which was not stabilized by factor XIIIa. D-dimer concentrations determined in blood plasma samples of pregnant women by ELISA varied in the range of 1-224 ng/ml at the pregnancy period from 4 to 37 weeks. There was positive correlation between D-dimer concentration and pregnancy term both at normal pregnancy and pregnancy with RFL (r = 0.765, n=33 and r = 0.712, n=44 correspondingly). The mean values of D-dimer concentration at various terms of normal pregnancy and pregnancy with RFL did not vary considerably. Thus SF but not D-dimer quantification may give useful diagnostic information at the pregnancy with RFL.  相似文献

The relationship between the adjustment of muscle deoxygenation (Δ[HHb]) and phase II V(O(2p)) during moderate-intensity exercise was examined before (Mod 1) and after (Mod 2) a bout of heavy-intensity "priming" exercise. Moderate intensity V(O(2p)) and Δ[HHb] kinetics were determined in 18 young males (26 ± 3 yr). V(O(2p)) was measured breath-by-breath. Changes in Δ[HHb] of the vastus lateralis muscle were measured by near-infrared spectroscopy. V(O(2p)) and Δ[HHb] response profiles were fit using a monoexponential model, and scaled to a relative % of the response (0-100%). The Δ[HHb]/Vo(2) ratio for each individual (reflecting the local matching of O(2) delivery to O(2) utilization) was calculated as the average Δ[HHb]/Vo(2) response from 20 s to 120 s during the exercise on-transient. Phase II τV(O(2p)) was reduced in Mod 2 compared with Mod 1 (P < 0.05). The effective τ'Δ[HHb] remained the same in Mod 1 and Mod 2 (P > 0.05). During Mod 1, there was an "overshoot" in the Δ[HHb]/Vo(2) ratio (1.08; P < 0.05) that was not present during Mod 2 (1.01; P > 0.05). There was a positive correlation between the reduction in the Δ[HHb]/Vo(2) ratio and the smaller τV(O(2p)) from Mod 1 to Mod 2 (r = 0.78; P < 0.05). This study showed that a smaller τV(O(2p)) during a moderate bout of exercise subsequent to a heavy-intensity priming exercise was associated with improved microvascular O(2) delivery during the on-transient of exercise, as suggested by a smaller Δ[HHb]/Vo(2) ratio.  相似文献

This investigation examined the accuracy of the BOD POD on a group of Division I collegiate track and field female athletes (N = 30). Hydrostatic weighing (HW) was used as the gold standard method. Body density (Db) values obtained from the BOD POD (Db BP) were compared with those determined by HW (Db HW). Both Db values were converted to percent body fat (%BF) using the Siri equation for comparison. Percent body fat values obtained from the BOD POD (BF BP) were also compared with those obtained from dual-energy X-ray absorptiometry (DXA, BF DXA) and skinfold (SF, BF SF). The validity of the BOD POD was assessed using repeated-measures analysis of variance (ANOVA), and the relationship between the methods was examined through Pearson correlation. Average Db BP was 0.00890 g x cm(-3) lower (p < 0.05) than Db HW, resulting in a significant overestimation of %BF (p < 0.05) by the BOD POD. Values for BFDXA and BFBP also differed significantly (p < 0.05). On the other hand, BFSF and BF BP were not significantly different. The correlation between percent body fat values obtained from HW (BFHW) and BF BP was good (r = 0.88, SEE = 2.30) as well as between BF SF and BF BP (r = 0.85, SEE = 2.05). Conversely, the correlation between BFDXA and BF BP was poor (r = 0.25, SEE = 5.73). The strong correlation between BF BP and BF HW presented here suggests that the BOD POD has the potential to be used as a body composition analysis tool for female athletes. The advantages of the BOD POD over HW encourage further investigation of this instrument. However, the fact that the BOD POD and SF results did not differ significantly might suggest that the SF could be used in its place until a better rate of accuracy for this instrument is established.  相似文献

A high-performance bioanode based on the composite of carbon nanotubes (CNTs)-immobilized mediator and silk film (SF)-immobilized glucose oxidase (GOD) was developed for glucose/O(2) biofuel cell (BFC). Ferrocenecarboxaldehyde (Fc) was used as the mediator and covalently immobilized on the ethylenediamine (EDA)-functionalized CNTs (CNTs-EDA). GOD was cross-linked on the SF with glutaraldehyde (GA) as the cross-linking agent. The resulting electrode (CNTs-Fc/SF-GOD/glassy carbon (GC) electrode) exhibited good catalytic activity towards glucose oxidation and excellent stability. For the assembled glucose/O(2) BFC with the CNTs-Fc/SF-GOD/GC electrode as the bioanode and a commercial E-TEK Pt/C modified GC electrode as the cathode, the open circuit potential is 0.48 V and the maximum power density of 50.70 μW cm(-2) can be achieved at 0.15 V.  相似文献

The purpose of this study was to compare a kayak ergometer protocol with an arm crank protocol for determining peak oxygen consumption (V(.-)O2). On separate days in random order, 10 men and 5 women (16-24 years old) with kayaking experience completed the kayak ergometer protocol and a standardized arm crank protocol. The kayak protocol began at 70 strokes per minute and increased by 10 strokes per minute every 2 minutes until volitional fatigue. The arm crank protocol consisted of a crank rate of 70 revolutions per minute, initial loading of 35 W and subsequent increases of 35 W every 2 minutes until volitional fatigue. The results showed a significant difference (p < 0.01) between the kayak ergometer and the arm crank protocols for relative peak V(.-)O2 (47.5 +/- 3.9 ml x kg(-1) x min(-1) vs. 44.2 +/- 6.2 ml x kg(-1) x min(-1)) and absolute peak V(.-)O2 (3.38 L x min(-1) +/- 0.53 vs. 3.14 +/- 0.64 L x min(-1)). The correlation between kayak and arm crank protocol was 0.79 and 0.90, for relative and absolute V(.-)O2 peak, respectively (both p < 0.01). The higher peak V(.-)O2 on the kayak ergometer may be due to the greater muscle mass involved compared to the arm crank ergometer. The kayak ergometer protocol may therefore be more specific to the sport of kayaking than an arm crank protocol.  相似文献

Electrocompression has been measured in lipid bilayers made by apposition of two monolayers. The capacitance C(V), as a function of membrane potential, V, was found to be well described by C(V) = C(O) [1 + alpha(V + delta psi)2] where C(O) is the capacitance at V = O, alpha is the fractional increase in capacitance per square volt, and delta psi is the surface potential difference. In lipid bilayers made from monolayers alpha has a value of 0.02 V-2, which is ca. 500-fold smaller than the value found in solvent containing membranes. In asymmetric bilayers made of one neutral and one negatively charged monolayer, delta psi values were found to be those expected from independent measurements of surface charge density. If the fractional increase in capacitance found here is a good approximation to that of biological membranes, nonlinear capacitative charge displacement derived from electrostriction is expected to be less than 1% of the total gating charge displacement found in squid axons.  相似文献

Sorbitol-fermenting Escherichia coli O157:NM (SF O157) is an emerging pathogen suggested to be more virulent than nonsorbitol-fermenting Escherichia coli O157:H7 (NSF O157). Important virulence factors are the Shiga toxins (stx), encoded by stx1 and/or stx2 located within prophages integrated in the bacterial genome. The stx genes are expressed from p(R) (') as a late protein, and anti-terminator activity from the Q protein is necessary for read through of the late terminator t(R) (') and activation of p(R) (') . We investigated the regulation of stx2(EDL933) expression at the genomic level in 17 Norwegian SF O157. Sequencing of three selected SF O157 strains revealed that the anti-terminator q gene and genes upstream of stx2(EDL933) were identical or similar to the ones observed in the E.?coli O111:H- strain AP010960, but different from the ones observed in the NSF O157 strain EDL933 (AE005174). This suggested divergent stx2(EDL933) -encoding bacteriophages between NSF O157 and the SF O157 strains (FR874039-41). Furthermore, different DNA structures were detected in the SF O157 strains, suggesting diversity among bacteriophages also within the SF O157 group. Further investigations are needed to elucidate whether the q(O111:H) (-) gene observed in all our SF O157 contributes to the increased virulence seen in SF O157 compared to NSF O157. This study compared the muscle activities, cardiorespiratory responses, and ratings of perceived exertion (RPE) of nine older individuals while walking in water with those obtained while walking on dry land. Electromyography, stride frequency (SF), stride length (SL), oxygen uptake (V O(2)), heart rate (HR), RPE (for breathing and legs, RPE-Br and RPE-Legs, respectively), and blood lactate concentration (BLa) were measured. There were no significant differences in the V O(2), HR, RPE-Br, RPE-Legs or BLa while walking in water and on dry land (moderate and fast speeds). Both in water and on dry land, the V O(2)-HR, V O(2)-walking speed, and HR-walking speed relationships were significantly correlated. The SF and SL while walking in water were significantly lower than on dry land. The %MVCs while walking in water were all significantly lower than on dry land within each speed condition. Conversely, the V O(2), HR, RPE-Br and RPE-Legs, BLa, SL, and %MVC (the rectus femoris, vastus medialis, biceps femoris, and gastrocnemius) while walking in water were significantly higher than on dry land at the same speeds. In conclusion, walking in water elicits higher muscle activities, higher cardiorespiratory responses, and increased perceived exertion levels in older adults than walking on dry land at the same speed.  相似文献
