Silages are important feedstuffs. Homofermentative lactic acid bacterial inoculants are often used to control silage fermentation. However, some research pointed out those homofermentative lactic acid bacteria (LAB) impaired the aerobic stability of wheat, sorghum, and corn silages. Adding heterofermentative LAB can produce more acetic acid, thereby stabilizing silages during aerobic exposure. Alfalfa is difficult to ensile. The present work was to study the effects of L. buchneri (heterofermentative LAB), alone or in combination with L. plantarum (homofermentative LAB) on the fermentation, aerobic stability, bacteria diversity and ruminal degradability of alfalfa silage. After 90 days ensiling, the pH, NH3-N/TN, butyric acid content and molds counts of control were the highest. The inoculated silages had more lactic acid, acetic acid content and more lactic acid bacteria than the control. Inoculating LAB inhibited harmful microorganisms, such as Enterobacterium and Klebsiella pneumoniae. The L. buchneri L. plantarum-inoculated silage had more acetic acid and less yeasts than other three treatments (P < 0.05), and lower NH3-N/TN than control (< 0.05). The CO2 production of L. buchneri L. plantarum-inoculated silage was less than that of L. plantarum-inoculated silage (P < 0.05). Inoculating LAB in alfalfa silages can decrease pH, increase the production of lactic and acetic acids, reduce the number of yeasts and molds, and inhibit Enterobacterium and K. pneumoniae. Inoculating with L. buchneri or L. buchneri L. plantarum can improve aerobic stability of alfalfa silages. A combination of L. buchneri and L. plantarum is preferable because it enhanced alfalfa silage quality and aerobic stability.  相似文献

The present study was conducted to evaluate the effects of dietary supplementation of recombinant plectasin (Ple) on the growth performance, intestinal health, and serum immune parameters in broilers. A total of 288 1-day-old male broilers (Arbor Acres) were randomly allotted to four dietary treatments including the basal diet (NC) and basal diet supplemented with 10 mg enramycin/kg (PC), 100 mg Ple/kg (LPle), and 200 mg Ple/kg (HPle) diets. The results indicated Ple increased (P < 0.01) average daily gain and decreased (P ≤ 0.02) feed to gain ratio of broilers. In addition, the supplementation of Ple in the diets increased (P ≤ 0.01) duodenal lipase (day 21) and trypsin (day 42) activities compared with the NC group. Similar as the supplementation of enramycin, Ple also increased villus height and decreased crypt depth in jejunum (day 21), and thus the villus height to crypt depth ratio (P < 0.01) was increased compared to the NC group on day 42. The serum immunoglobulin M (days 21 and 42), immunoglobulin G (day 42), complement 3 (day 21), and complement 4 (days 21 and 42) were significantly increased (P ≤ 0.02) due to the supplementation of Ple and enramycin, while the concentration of malondialdehyde in jejunum was decreased (P < 0.01) in PC, LPle, and HPle groups on day 21 compared with those in the NC group. Furthermore, Ple reduced (P < 0.01) Escherichia coli and total aerobic bacteria population in ileum and cecum of birds on days 21 and 42. These results indicate that the recombinant plectasin has beneficial effects on growth performance, intestinal health, and innate immunity in broilers.

Browsing ruminants have access to different biomass, depending on how high they can reach. Foliage consisting of leaves and green pods from Acacia senegal, Pterocarpus lucens and Guiera senegalensis, was collected according to height above ground accessible to either sheep (0.90 m), goats (1.65 m) or cattle (1.50 m). There was a significant variation in the chemical composition of the biomass between species. The crude protein (CP) content was 114, 157 and 217 g/kg dry matter (DM) and the neutral detergent fiber (aNDF) content 604, 534 and 412 g/kg DM for G. senegalensis, P. lucens and A. senegal, respectively. There was no significant variation in chemical composition according to the height accessible by cattle, sheep or goats. The voluntary intake was studied using eight goats per diet. The six diets consisted of the three browse leaves and two pods (A. senegal and P. lucens) and a control. The leaves were fed combined with hay of Schoenefeldia gracilis (maximum 30%) and the control was pure hay. Apparent digestibilities of the same diets, with the exception of G. senegalensis, were measured using five goats per diet. All browse fodders used in the feeding and digestibility trials were high in CP (105–170 g/kg DM) and lignin (164–234 g/kg DM except A. senegal leaves) and low in fiber (322–590 g/kg DM of NDF) compared to the hay (31 g/kg DM of CP and 755 g/kg DM of NDF). The highest intake was of the P. lucens diet (864 g) and the lowest of the G. senegalensis diet (397 g). The intake of pods from A. senegal was higher (1033 g) than from P. lucens pods (691 g). The apparent digestibility of OM and CP in the browse leaves was 0.63 and 0.57 and 0.63 and 0.64 for A. senegal and P. lucens, respectively, higher than for the hay, which showed higher digestibility of NDF. A. senegal pods had higher digestibility for all nutrients than P. lucens pods. Based on the high CP content and the intake and digestibility characteristics, P. lucens leaves and A. senegal leaves and pods can be recommended as protein supplements to low quality diets.  相似文献

The current experiment with 3 trials aimed to study the effect of two levels of dietary fibre – high fibre (HF; 323 g aNDFom/kg) and low fibre (LF; 248 g aNDFom/kg) – and the effect of mannanoligosaccharides (MOS) addition (1 g/kg) to the LF diet (LFM) on the performances and health status of growing rabbits, digestibility and caecal fermentative characteristics. In the growth trial 132 rabbits of both sexes were used (11 cages with 4 rabbits per treatment) from weaning (32 days of age) to slaughter (67 days of age). Rabbits fed HF diet showed a significantly higher weight gain and live weight at 67 days than rabbits fed LF diet (2032 g vs. 1935 g) (P<0.05). Feed and digestible energy intake increased with dietary fibre level (P<0.05). During the growing period rabbits fed HF diet had a feed intake 26% higher than those fed LF diet. Feed efficiency ratio was worse in HF animals (0.334 vs. 0.385; P<0.05). Addition of MOS to LF diet did not affect growth performance parameters (P>0.05). Mortality and morbidity rate were not affected by treatments. In the digestibility 24 rabbits from 46 to 51 days of age trial were used. The HF diet resulted in a significant (P<0.05) decrease in digestibility of dry matter, organic matter and protein while the aNDFom digestibility was not significantly different between diets (P>0.05). Supplementation with MOS had no effects on digestibility (P>0.05). In the 3rd trial the caecal traits were measured in 30 rabbits with 46 days of age that received the experimental diets in the previous 14 days. Caecal production of total volatile fatty acids (VFA), acetate and propionate were significantly higher (P>0.05) on rabbits fed HF diets than on rabbits fed LF diets. The total VFA concentration increased 64% (from 5.01 to 8.20 mmol/100 ml) and acetate increased 73% (from 3.73 to 6.44 mmol/100 ml). Butyrate production was not different between diets (P>0.05). Fibre level did not affect proportions of VFA and caecal contents and caecal weights. Addition of MOS to LF diet did not affect any caecal trait (P>0.05). It was concluded that the reduction of dietary fibre level increases feed digestibility but worsens rabbit growth performances. Supplementation of low fibre diet with 1 g MOS/kg is not enough to reduce its negative effects on growth performances.  相似文献

Mithun (Bos frontalis) is primarily reared in free-grazing systems and several tropical foliages are important feed resources for it throughout the year. Inadequate information is available on the nutritive value of most of these foliages. This study aimed to determine the nutrient composition and in situ degradability of dry matter (DM) and crude protein (CP) of the major foliages consumed by mithun. The foliages (n = 16) were collected from different mithun inhabited areas. The DM, CP, ether extract, neutral detergent fibre, acid detergent fibre, lignin(sa), ash and condensed tannin contents of the foliages varied from 236 to 398, 100 to 178, 10 to 40, 397 to 621, 287 to 460, 74 to 169, 92 to 176 and 12 to 68 g/kg DM, respectively. All foliages contained Ca and K at more than 10 g/kg DM and Mg at more than 1.7 g/kg DM, but were deficient in Na (i.e., <0.6 g/kg DM). The P content of the foliages ranged from 1.2 to 4.0 g/kg DM, and contents of Cu, Fe, Mn and Zn were ranged from 7.3 to 19.6, 119 to 460, 32 to 144 and 35 to 430 mg/kg DM, respectively. The degradability of DM and CP was greater in Daubanga grandiflora compared to the other experimental foliages. Among the foliages, the rapidly degradable fraction of DM and CP ranged from 49 to 219 and 86 to 217 g/kg DM, respectively. Simultaneously, the slowly degradable fraction of DM and CP ranged from 319 to 475 and 159 to 325 g/kg DM, respectively. The effective degradability of DM and CP ranged from 291 to 389 and 199 to 338 g/kg DM, respectively. The nutrient contents were adequate in most of the foliage, except Na, which was deficient in all the foliages and may explain observed salt seeking behavior of mithun reared under free grazing systems.  相似文献

The study was undertaken to determine the effects of different forms of Acacia saligna leaves inclusion on feed intake, digestibility and body weight gain in lambs fed grass hay basal diet. Twenty local ‘Farta’ yearling male lambs weighing 17.4 ± 0.10 kg (mean ± SD) were randomly allocated to four dietary treatments consisting of daily feeding of lambs in T1 with 700 g grass hay (dry matter basis), and daily free choice feeding of lambs in T2, T3, and T4 with 700 g grass hay + 700 g fresh, wilted, and dried A. saligna leaves, respectively. Inclusion of different forms of A. saligna leaves improved (P<0.01) the daily intake of total DM by 8–9% and that of OM and CP by 7 and 38%, respectively compared to the control. The daily intake of NDFom was lower (P<0.01) by 1–2.3%, whereas that of the ADFom intake declined (P<0.01) by 1.3–3.4% for lambs on wilted and dried forms of A. saligna leaves. Inclusion of A. saligna leaves replaced the intake of the grass hay by 26–27% of the total diet and reduced (P<0.05) apparent digestibility coefficient of the total DM by 9, 7, and 4%, OM by 7, 6 and 4%, and CP by 12, 12, and 9%, but improved (P<0.05) apparent digestibility coefficient of NDFom by 3–4% compared to the control diet. Dried A. saligna leaves improved (P<0.05) apparent digestibility of DM, OM and CP compared to fresh A. saligna leaves. Lambs fed on hay alone lost (P<0.05) body weight, while the lambs supplemented with A. saligna leaves gained (P<0.05) weight. The results of this study revealed that A. saligna leaves could be best included in the grass hay based feeding in dried form at the rate of 265 g/kg DM for improved nutrient utilization and growth performance of yearling lambs.  相似文献

The objective of this experiment was to determine the ensiling characteristics and in situ degradation of barley tea grounds (BTG) treated with contrasting additives. The BTG was ensiled without additive (control), or with mixtures of lactic acid bacteria and Acremonium cellulase (LAB + AUS), formic acid (FA), and sodium hydroxide (NaOH) for a period of 60 days. Three ruminal-fistulated steers were used to determine in situ degradabilities of dry matter (DM), crude protein (CP) in the BTG and its silages. In the LAB + AUS treated silage, the pH value (P<0.001) and ammonia-N content (P=0.007) were lower and the lactic acid content (P<0.001) was higher than the control. The FA and NaOH treated silages were well preserved as indicated by low ammonia-N content (P=0.007), no propionic acid and butyric acid. The LAB + AUS treated silage had higher rapidly degradable fraction of DM and CP than the control and BTG (P<0.001). The NaOH treated silage had higher contents of rapidly degradable fraction, slowly degradable fraction and effective degradability of DM and CP than control and BTG (P<0.01).  相似文献

Freshly prepared pozol, a traditional Mexican fermented maize dough, contained (c.f.u./g wet wt): lactic acid bacteria, 104 to 106; aerobic mesophiles, 104 to 105; Enterobacteriaceae, 102 to 103; yeasts, 102 to 104; and mould propagules, <103. After 30 h at 28°C the numbers were, respectively: 109, 7×106, 5×105, 106 and 104. Soaking alkali-treated grains overnight allowed lactic acid bacteria, aerobic mesophiles and Enterobacteriaceae to grow and these then constituted the primary microbial flora of the pozol dough. Grinding in a commercial mill inoculated the dough with lactic acid bacteria, aerobic mesophiles, Enterobacteriaceae and yeasts. Other processing stages, including the nature of the surface upon which the balls were made, handling of the dough, and air, contributed only minor numbers of microbes compared with the two major sources, soaking and grinding. The pH of pozol fell from an initial value of 7.3 to 4.6 after 30 h incubation at 28°C. The numbers of Enterobacteriaceae and other aerobic mesophilic bacteria remained constant between 11 and 30 h incubation and there was no evidence of the acidic conditions having any lethal effects on these organisms.  相似文献

The effects of enterocin (Ent) M and sage extract applied separately and in combination were investigated. EntM (E 50 μL/animal/day in water) and sage extract (S 10 μL/animal/day in water) were applied individually and in combination (E+S) to rabbits during 21 days of treatment. The rabbits’ growth was not significantly influenced by the additives. Lower feed conversion (FC) was noted in the experimental groups compared with controls, with the lowest data detected in E. The antimicrobial activity of EntM was noted (in E+S: lactic acid bacteria—P < 0.01; in E, E+S: enterococci, enterobacteria—P > 0.05; in E: clostridia—P > 0.05). The most significant changes in fermentation between weaned and older rabbits were noted in amylolytic activity at day 21 (E P < 0.05; E + S P < 0.05); prolonged reduction effect of sage extract on amylolytic activity was observed. The activity of cellulase, pectinase and xylanase was higher in older than in younger animals. Decrease in lactic acid and volatile fatty acids was noted during EntM administration, with significant effect on propionic acid concentration (E P < 0.05; E+S P < 0.001). The sage extract reduced propionic acid (S P < 0.001) and butyric acid levels (S P < 0.05) and increased the concentrations of butyric, iso-valeric, valeric, caproic acids and lactic acid (P < 0.001). It seems to be that EntM and sage supplementation may improve the economy of rabbit farms (increased FC) and the health status of rabbits (reduction of spoilage microbiota, enhanced enzymatic activities in caecum).

This trial studied the effect of including mannanoligosaccharides (MOS, Bio-Mos®, Alltech Inc., USA) in the diet on the caecal volatile fatty acids (VFA) and pH of rabbits from 34 to 90 days of age. Three experimental diets were compared: control diet, zinc bacitracin (ZnBac) diet (control diet with 0.1 g ZnBac/kg feed) and MOS diet (control diet with 2.0 g MOS/kg feed). Rabbits were slaughtered at 34, 48, 69 and 90 days of age and caecal contents were collected and analyzed for dry matter, pH and VFA concentration. The empty caecum and caecal contents weights relative to live weight were also determined.Age affected (P<0.0001) VFA concentration and pH values in the caecum. The pH decreased with age whereas VFA concentration increased. Rabbits fed MOS had higher (P<0.05) VFA and tended (P=0.098) to had lower pH in the caecum than rabbits fed ZnBac and control diets. Acetic, propionic and butyric acids concentrations in the caecum increased with MOS but its molar proportions were similar among diets. Diet had no effect on empty caecum weight and caecal contents weight and dry matter concentration. There was no interaction effect between diet and age. From 34 to 90 days of age, VFA production was higher (P<0.05) in the caecum of rabbits fed MOS than in those fed ZnBac diet and control diet. The addition of MOS to the diet increased the VFA concentration in the caecum of growing rabbits from 34 to 90 days of age.  相似文献

Hyper-prolific sows nurse more piglets than less productive sows, putting a high demand on the nutrient supply for milk production. In addition, the high production level can increase mobilization from body tissues. The effect of increased dietary protein (104, 113, 121, 129, 139 and 150 g standardized ileal digestible (SID) CP/kg) on sow body composition, milk production and plasma metabolite concentrations was investigated from litter standardization (day 2) until weaning (day 24). Sow body composition was determined using the deuterium oxide dilution technique on days 3 and 24 postpartum. Blood samples were collected weekly, and milk samples were obtained on days 3, 10 and 17 of lactation. Litter average daily gain (ADG) peaked at 135 g SID CP/kg (P < 0.001). Sow BW and back fat loss reached a breakpoint at 143 and 127 g SID CP/kg (P < 0.001). Milk fat increased linearly with increasing dietary SID CP (P < 0.05), and milk lactose decreased until a breakpoint at 124 g SID CP/kg and 5.3% (P < 0.001) on day 17. The concentration of milk protein on day 17 increased until a breakpoint at 136 g SID CP/kg (5.0%; P < 0.001). The loss of body protein from day 3 until weaning decreased with increased dietary SID CP until it reached a breakpoint at 128 g SID CP/kg (P < 0.001). The body ash loss declined linearly with increasing dietary SID CP (P < 0.01), and the change in body fat was unaffected by dietary treatment (P=0.41). In early lactation (day 3 + day 10), plasma urea N (PUN) increased linearly after the breakpoint at 139 g SID CP/kg at a concentration of 3.8 mmol/l, and in late lactation (day 17 + day 24), PUN increased linearly after a breakpoint at 133 g SID CP/kg (P < 0.001) at a concentration of 4.5 mmol/l. In conclusion, the SID CP requirement for sows was estimated to 135 g/kg based on litter ADG, and this was supported by the breakpoints of other response variables within the interval 124 to 143 g/kg.  相似文献

The effects of dietary mannan oligosaccharide (MOS) (Bio-Mos®, Alltech, USA) on the growth, survival, physiology, bacteria and morphology of the gut and immune response to bacterial infection of tropical rock lobsters (Panulirus ornatus) juvenile were investigated. Dietary inclusion level of MOS at 0.4% was tested against the control diet (trash fish) without MOS inclusion. At the end of 56 days of rearing period, a challenged test was also conducted to evaluate the bacterial infection resistant ability of the lobsters fed the two diets. Lobster juvenile fed MOS diet attained 2.86 ± 0.07 g of total weigh and 66.67 ± 4.76% survival rate which were higher (P < 0.05) than the lobsters fed control diet (2.35 ± 0.14 g total weight and 54.76 ± 2.38% survival rate, respectively) thus providing the higher (P < 0.05) specific growth rate (SGR) and average weekly gain (AWG) of lobsters fed MOS diet. Physiological condition indicators such as wet tail muscle index (Tw/B), wet hepatosomatic index (Hiw) and dry tail muscle index (Td/B) of the lobsters fed MOS supplemented diet were higher (P < 0.05) than that of the lobsters fed the control diet. Bacteria in the gut (both total aerobic and Vibrio spp.) and gut's absorption surface indicated by the internal perimeter/external perimeter ratio were also higher (P < 0.05) when the lobsters were fed MOS diet. Lobsters fed MOS diet were in better immune condition showed by higher THC and GC, and lower bacteraemia. Survival, THC, GC were not different among the lobsters fed either MOS or control diet after 3 days of bacterial infection while bacteraemia was lower in the lobsters fed MOS diet. After 7 days of bacterial infection the lobsters fed MOS diet showed higher survival, THC, GC and lower bacteraemia than the lobsters fed the control diet. The experimental trial demonstrated the ability of MOS to improve the growth performance, survival, physiological condition, gut health and immune responses of tropical spiny lobsters juveniles.  相似文献

These experiments were carried out to evaluate, using in vitro and in situ techniques, the effects of three inclusion levels of calcium oxide (0, 5, and 10 g/kg of sugarcane fresh matter) and four exposure times (0, 24, 48, and 72 h) of sugarcane to calcium oxide on the chemical composition and digestive kinetic parameters of sugarcane. The treatments were arranged in a 3 by 4 factorial design. Freshly-cut sugarcane (whole plant) was treated with calcium oxide and separated into 12 piles inside a barn to prevent direct exposure to sunlight, rain, and wind. Every day, before and after animal feeding, the calcium oxide was proportionally hand-mixed with approximately 150 kg of freshly-cut sugarcane to make up the dietary treatments. The lowest (Ti) and greatest (Ts) temperature and pH of the treated sugarcane piles were measured immediately before and after sampling, respectively. The ether extract (EE) and DM were not affected (P>0.05) by either exposure time or inclusion level. However, CP increased linearly (P=0.01) and OM decreased linearly (P<0.0001) as the exposure time and calcium oxide inclusion level increased. Interactions between inclusion level and exposure time on DM, OM, CP, EE, Ti, and Ts were not observed. However, significant interactions were detected for non-fibre carbohydrate (NFC), neutral detergent fibre (aNDF), and pH. A quadratic effect of exposure time on the Ti and Ts was observed (P=0.001 and P=0.001, respectively). The maximum temperature was reached with approximately 51 h of exposure time. Calcium oxide positively affected the insoluble potentially digestible fraction of sugarcane DM and aNDF (P=0.001 and P=0.001, respectively), and the indigestible fraction of sugarcane aNDF (P=0.001). Interactions between inclusion level and exposure time on soluble and indigestible fractions of sugarcane DM (P=0.0001 and P=0.01, respectively) were found. However, no interactions (P>0.27) were found between inclusion level and exposure time on aNDF digestive kinetic parameters. The fractional digestion rate (kd) of sugarcane DM and aNDF was not influenced by treatments (P>0.05). The mean values of kd for sugarcane DM and aNDF were 0.0235 and 0.0215/h, respectively. The gas production kinetics parameters were not affected (P>0.05) by treatments. In conclusion, the inclusion of calcium oxide improved the in situ potentially digestible fraction of sugarcane DM and aNDF; however, it did not influence the fractional digestion rate. No effects were observed on the in vitro digestive kinetic parameters.  相似文献

The aim of this study was to assess the effects of graded levels (0, 3, 6, 9 and 12 g/kg) of dry Sea buckthorn (SB) berries on growth performance, gastrointestinal tract (GIT) development, jejunal histomorphology, bird antioxidant status and caecal short-chain fatty acid concentration when fed to female Ross 308 broiler chickens. In addition, expression of cytokine biomarker genes in the jejunum was evaluated. The five experimental diets were fed from 7 to 21 days age to 8 pens (two birds in each) following randomisation. Feeding SB did not influence bird growth performance (p > .05). There was a linear decrease in butyric, acetic and valeric acid concentrations in caecal digesta (p < .05) and a decrease (p < .05) in crypt depth. The expression of IFNG and CD40LG responded quadratically (p < .05), peaking at 6–9 g/kg dietary inclusion of SB, respectively. Other studied variables were not affected by dietary SB inclusion (p > .05). Feeding dry SB berries up to 12 g/kg of diet did not improve the zootechnical variables of healthy commercial-strain broilers in this study.  相似文献

Metabolic experiments were conducted for each Thai native (TN) and Anglo Nubian–TN 50% (AN × TN) bucks, 26.5–38 kg BW and 35–52 months of age, by assigning the following concentrate diets, which had four levels of CP concentrations, T1: 14%, T2: 21%, T3: 28% and T4: 35%, on a DM basis. The animals were fed the concentrates at a rate of 1% of their BW and had ad libitum access to Paspalum plicatulum hay. As the CP level increased, digestibility of CP, N excretion in urine and N retention increased (P < 0.01). No significant differences of DM digestibility among the CP levels of diet and between the breeds of bucks were observed. The AN × TN had higher DM intake than TN (P < 0.05, 40.9 g/(kg BW0.75 day) versus 36.0 g/(kg BW0.75 day)), thus N intake of AN × TN was higher than that of TN (P < 0.01, 0.99 g/(kg BW0.75 day) versus 0.90 g/(kg BW0.75 day)). Digestibility of CP and blood urea N concentrations of TN were higher than those of AN × TN (P < 0.05, 69.8% versus 64.0% and 32.2 mg/dl versus 26.7 mg/dl, respectively). The AN × TN tended to retain more N than TN in the higher CP feeding condition of T3 (0.19 g/(kg BW0.75 day) versus 0.11 g/(kg BW0.75 day)) and T4 (0.25 g/(kg BW0.75 day) versus 0.17 g/(kg BW0.75 day)). Digestibility of NDF and ADF, and TDN of TN were higher than those of AN × TN (P < 0.05, 61.1% versus 55.9%, 49.6% versus 43.5% and 65.8% versus 62.4%, respectively). The overall mean DE was 109 kcal/(kg BW0.75 day), and no significant difference of DE among CP levels nor breeds of bucks was observed. Thai native was superior to AN × TN in digestibility of N and fiber fractions at the maintenance level of DE, which might have overcome inferiority of TN to AN × TN in amount of N and energy intake caused by the lower DMI. It is likely that TN goats are well adapted to fodder shortage condition due to their efficient utilization of nutrients.  相似文献

The aim of this work was to select strains with proteolytic activity on wheat gliadin, among lactic acid bacteria, previously isolated from Tunisian fermented wheat dough. Hydrolysis of gliadin, as sole nitrogen source, in an agar medium was visualized by a clear zone surrounding colonies. The increase in absorbance due to gliadin breakdown was measured spectrophotometrically using O-phthaldialdehyde (OPA) on Gliadin Glucose Broth medium. Fermented liquid dough inoculated with individual selected Enterococcus faecalis, showed a decrease of the gliadin concentration from 45 g/kg to 18 g/kg determined by sandwich ELISA test (R-7001). Only the enterococci strains show an hydrolysis of gliadin proteins. Strains showing proteolytic activity are gaining more and more importance in cereal based fermented foods and may help to reduce gliadin involved in coeliac disease.  相似文献

Aerobic stability is an important characteristic of silages because they are exposed to air during storage and feedout. The objective of the current study was to investigate changes that occur in wheat silages during aerobic exposure. Silages of whole crop wheat harvested at the flowering, milk and dough stages of maturity were prepared in 1.5 L anaerobic glass jars. Three months after ensiling, silages were subjected to a 7-day aerobic stability test. The silages of wheat harvested at the flowering stage were the most stable upon aerobic exposure, but had the largest fermentation losses. Silages of milk-stage wheat were unstable upon aerobic exposure, and had large amounts of CO2 and heating, large yeast populations, decreased amounts of fermentation products and decreased dry matter (DM) and neutral detergent fiber (NDF) digestibility (from 667 to 572 g/kg DM and from 597 to 558 g/kg DM, following 7-day aerobic exposure, respectively). Silages of dough-stage wheat had relatively low fermentation losses and were quite stable for at least 4 days of aerobic exposure. Silage samples from the center of commercial bunker silos, and from areas adjacent to the walls of the silos, were judged to be of good quality. Samples from the shoulders of bunker silos were spoiled with higher pH (P<0.05), higher ash content and lower DM and NDF digestibility compared with samples from the center of the silos and areas near the walls (6.8 vs. 4.0, 19.0 vs. 7.8, 477 g/kg DM vs. 634 g/kg DM and 230 g/kg DM vs. 487 g/kg DM, respectively).  相似文献

To analyse the influence of thyroid status on the effect of aluminium (Al) upon intestinal calcium (Ca) absorption, adult male Wistar rats with experimentally altered thyroid hormones circulating levels, were orally treated (o.g.) with 0 (control), or 50 mg elemental Al (as chloride)/kg body weight (b.w.) per day, for a 14 d period. Hyper- and hypo-thyroid conditions were respectively achieved by means of administration of either sodium levothyroxine (50 μg/kg b.w. per day, o.g.) or methimazole, a thyroxine synthesis inhibitor (1 mg/kg b.w. per day, o.g.). In duodenum–jejunum segments, in vitro mucosa-to-serosa 45Ca flux (JCams) and kinetics of 45Ca uptake in isolated enterocytes, were determined. In serum, concentrations of thyroxine (T4) and triiodothyronine (T3) were measured by chemiluminescent enzyme immunoassay. Unlike non-Al-treated rats, JCams of Al-exposed rats decreased as serum levels of T4 and T3 increased, showing a significant inverse correlation in both cases (T4: r2 = 0.414, P = 0.024; T3: r2 = 0.443, P = 0.018). Enterocytes isolated from rats treated with Al plus thyroxine showed a reduction of both maximum Ca uptake (4.86 ± 0.44 vs. 6.85 ± 1.04 nmol Ca/mg protein, P < 0.05) and Km (0.84 ± 0.18 vs. 1.05 ± 0.36 mM, < 0.05) when compared to control. The observed variability in the Al effect on Ca transport with thyroid status of rats could be reflecting a negative interaction of Al with thyroid hormone action mechanisms on intestinal Ca absorption, which would take place mainly at Ca entry into enterocyte from lumen.  相似文献

In vitro autoradiography was used to examine changes in cannabinoid CB1 receptors (targeted with [3H] CP55,940) in rats treated with the potent cannabinoid agonist HU210. Animals were administered with HU210 (25, 50, 100 μg/kg) for 4 or 14 days or received a single 100 μg/kg injection of HU210 and sacrificed 24 h later. The acute dose resulted in a decrease in binding in the caudate putamen and hippocampus. A dose dependent, region-specific reduction (P < 0.0001) in [3H] CP55,940 binding was seen in all brain regions examined after 4 and 14 days treatment. A decrease in body weight was recorded during the first 4 days of treatment but after this animals began to gain weight. Correlations (0.865 < r < 0.659, P < 0.0001) between body weight on day four and CB1 receptor binding were found in all brain regions examined suggesting that downregulation of CB1 receptors may contribute to the induction of tolerance to body weight loss induced by HU210.  相似文献

A yogurt culture (Streptococcus thermophilus 15HA + Lactobacillus delbrueckii subsp. bulgaricus 2-11) was studied in conditions of aerobic batch fermentation (10–40% dissolved oxygen in milk). The growth and acidification of S. thermophilus 15HA were stimulated at 20% oxygen concentration and the lactic acid process in a mixed culture was shortened by 1 h (2.5 h for the aerobic culture and 3.5 h for the anaerobic mixed culture). Streptococcus thermophilus 15HA oxygen tolerance was significantly impaired at oxygen concentrations in the milk above 30%. Though S. thermophilus 15HA was able to overcome to some extent the impact of high oxygen concentration (40%), the lactic acid produced was insufficient to coagulate the milk casein (4.0 g lactic acid l−1 in the mixed culture and 3.8 g lactic acid l−1 in the pure culture). A dramatic decrease in the viable cell count of L. delbrueckii subsp. bulgaricus 2-11 in the pure and mixed cultures was recorded at 30% dissolved oxygen. This revised version was published online in July 2006 with corrections to the Cover Date.  相似文献
