A hitherto undescribed ballistosporous yeast was isolated from a dead leaf of Yucca sp. in Canada. This yeast produces apiculate or short-ellipsoidal ballistospores, produces pale colored colonies, has Q-9 as the major ubiquinone, and does not contain xylose in the cells. This new yeast is described as Sporobolomyces yuccicola Nakase et Suzuki. Sporobolomyces yuccicola is the sixth species of the intermedius group, a group of atypical species of the genus Sporobolomyces equipped with Q-9.  相似文献

A new species of ballistosporous yeast, Sporobolomyces inositophilus was isolated from a dead leaf of Sasa sp. collected at a mountain in Japan. This yeast is assumed to have a close relationship to Sporobolomyces singularis since it produces bilaterally symmetrical ballistospores and pale-coloured colonies and resembles Sporobolomyces singularis in these respects. These two species differ from typical species of Sporobolomyces and seem to constitute a natural taxonomic group.  相似文献

A new species ofRoumegueriella (Ascomycetes; Hypocreales),R. pulchella, is described and illustrated. This fungus is characterized by its rapid growth on Czapek-yeast extract and YpSs agars at 37°C, bright yellow non-ostiolate ascomata, translucent membranaceous peridium, broadly clavate asci, and hyaline one-celled subglobose-ovoid ascospores ornamented with prominent spines. The holotype was isolated from soil in a sugarcane field in Okinawa, Japan.  相似文献

Anthopsis catenata sp. nov., isolated from roots of Abies alba is described. The species is characterised by inverted phialides producing pale brown, ellipsoidal to subglobose conidia in chains.  相似文献

Summary A new species ofPetalosporus, P. anodosus, is described and illustrated. Two isolates representing this species were isolated from dung in California. The new species differs from the only other species of the genus,P. nodulosus, by the lack of thick-walled peridial hyphae with enlargements at the septa and by the absence of disarticulation of peridial elements. Peridial hyphae inP. anodosus have walls which are somewhat thickened and the cells are often variable in diameter. Conglomerate ascospores usually assume the petaloid arrangement characteristic of the genus.  相似文献

SYNOPSIS. Protostelium was cultured monoxenically with the yeast Rhodotorula mucilaginosa on either corn meal agar or in liquid corn meal medium. Nearly synchronous encystment was induced in amoebae by washing them free of yeast and incubating them in an encystment medium devised by Neff et al. (1964) for Acanthamoeba.
The extrinsic requirements for encystment were investigated by replacing various components of the encystment medium with other substances. The results indicate that encystment depends on a high concentration of inorganic monovalent cations and that it occurs best at a basic pH. The effect of the ions does not appear to be strictly osmotic.  相似文献

ABSTRACT The most commonly encountered protostelids are nominal members of the genus Protostelium Olive & Stoianovitch. These are Protostelium mycophaga Olive & Stoianovitch and P. irregularis Olive & Stoianovitch. Both species share the common features of long-stalked fruiting bodies with single, uninucleate, deciduous spores and trophic states that consist solely of uninucleate amoebae, but they are quite different with respect to their detailed structure at both the light and electron microscopic levels. Based on this evidence, it seems unlikely that the species are congeneric, and it is proposed that P. irregularis be assigned to Soliformovum n. g. Examination of other species of Protostelium indicates that P. nocturnum Spiegel should be retained in the genus and that P. expulsum Olive & Stoianovitch should be reassigned to Soliformovum. The group most closely related to Protostelium, under this new concept, is the genus Planoprotostelium Olive & Stoianovitch, while Soliformovum is best treated as a genus of Eumycetozoa incertae sedis, though it does share some similarities with the group that includes the genera Ceratiomyxella Olive & Stoianovitch, Nematostelium Olive & Stoianovitch, and Schizoplasmodium Olive & Stoianovitch.  相似文献

Summary A new species of Volvulina, V. pringsheimii, was isolated from Texas. This species differs from the well-known species of Volvulina, V. steinii, in having pyrenoids in the vegetative cells, a common gelatinous envelope surrounding the colony, a protoplasmic protrusion on the anterior end of each gamete, and spines on the secondary wall of the zygospore. This paper is dedicated to Professor Dr. E. G. Pringsheim on the occasion of his 80th birthday.  相似文献
