The associative effect of cellulolytic fungi, such asAspergillus awamori andA. niger, with the nitrogen fixer,Azospirillum lipoferum was studied in a soil amended with rice straw. All the inoculants gave significantly higher grain and straw yield and nitrogen uptake by wheat crop than did the uninoculated treatment. The doubling of chemical nitrogen dose significantly increased the yield and nitrogen uptake. It was observed thatA awamori performed significantly better followed byA. niger andA. lipoferum. The maximum benefit was obtained with combined inoculation ofA. awamori andA. lipoferum. Another experiment was conducted in the subsequent year in soil amended with and without rice straw using cellulolytic culture eitherA. awamori orSclerotium rolfsii, andA. lipoferum. Application of straw in soil significantly reduced the yield and N-uptake by wheat crop as compared to the controls. All the inoculants exceptS. rolfsii gave significantly higher grain yield. However, N-uptake by grain was significantly increased only by combined inoculation ofA. lipoferum and either one of the cellulolytic fungi. Similar trends on yield and N-uptake of straw due to inoculants were observed. The maximum benefit was obtained with combined inoculation ofA. awamori andA. lipoferum followed byA. awamori alone on grain yield and only combined inoculants on N-uptake by the crop.  相似文献

Summary A field experiment conducted for two rainy seasons (1974 and 1975) on a sandy clay loam soil at the Indian Agricultural Research Institute, New Delhi showed that at 100kg N/ha the apparent recovery of urea nitrogen by the rice crop was only 28%, which was raised to 41.7% by treating urea with Nitrapyrin and to 47.4% by coating urea withneem (Azadirachta indica Juss) cake. The recovery with sulphur-coated urea was 37.7%. Dry matter production nitrogen concentration in plant and uptake by rice were increased as the rate of nitrogen was increased from 0 to 150kg N/ha. Advantage of treating urea with Nitrapyrin or coating withneem cake was seen more in grain than straw yield.  相似文献

A factorial design 23 × 4 with two levels of Mussorie rockphosphate (RP) with or without vesicular-arbuscular mycorrhizal (VAM) fungi and Bradyrhizobium japonicum, and four treatments of phosphate-solubilizing microbes (PSM) Pseudomonas striata, Bacillus polymyxa, Aspergillus awamori was employed using Patharchatta sandy loam soil (Typic Hapludoll). The observations included mycorrhization, nodulation, grain and straw yield, N and P uptake, available soil P and the PSM population in the soil after crop harvest. Inoculation with endophytes alone caused about 70% root colonization. Addition of rockphosphate or inoculation with PSM, except B. polymyxa, stimulated root infection of native as well as introduced VAM endophytes. Application of RP or inoculation with Bradyrhizobium japonicum, mycorrhizal fungi or phosphate-solubilizing microorganisms significantly increased nodulation, N uptake, available soil P and the PSM population in the soil after the crop harvest. The grain and straw yields did not increase following RP addition or mycorrhizal inoculation but increased significantly after inoculation wit Bradyrhizobium or PSM. In general, the application of RP, Bradyrhizobium, VAM and PSM in combinations of any two or three resulted in significant increases in nodulation, plant growth, grain yield and uptake of N and P. Among the four factor interactions, rockphosphate, Bradyrhizobium and P. striata in the absence of VAM resulted in maximal nodulation, grain and straw yields and N uptake by soybean. The highest P uptake by soybean grain was recorded with Bradyrhizobium and A. awamori in the absence of rockphosphate and VAM. Generally, available soil P and PSM population after crop harvest were not significantly increased by the treatment combinations giving the maximal uptake of nutrients. However, they increased significantly in response to PSM, which produced no significant increase in total uptake of nutrients.Research paper no. 7498  相似文献

Two field experiments on green manuring were conducted under upland acidic soil (pH = 4.35) conditions with the following objectives: (1) to determine the influence of inoculation site, P fertilization, and liming on the biomass production, N content, N accumulation, and N availability of S. rostrata grown in an acidic soil, (2) to compare the effectiveness of S. rostrata, P. calcaratus and urea as N sources for upland rice as affected by liming and N source-sowing time combination, and (3) to assess the effect of liming and N source-sowing time combination on % Ndff (N derived from the fertilizer), % Ndfs (N derived from soil), % FNU (fertilizer N utilization), and FNY or fertilizer N yield (kg N ha–1) of upland rice grown in acidic soil. At 2 weeks after incorporating S. rostrata (95 days after lime application), liming significantly increased N availability by more than 2-fold suggesting that the decomposition of S. rostrata by soil microflora was stimulated by lime. Liming, phosphorus application, and inoculation site improved significantly the dry biomass production, N content and N accumulation of S. rostrata; thus, enhancing its green manuring potential. Regardless of liming, S. rostrata whether applied at 0 week or 2 weeks before sowing was superior to urea in improving grain and straw yields. P. calcaratus when applied at 2 weeks before sowing also produced higher grain yield than urea. Immediate sowing of upland rice after green manure incorporation did not affect negatively the growth and development of upland rice; hence, farmers could save at least 2 weeks in their cropping calendar. N source-sowing time combination had a highly significant influence on % Ndff, % Ndfs, % FNU, N uptake, and fertilizer N yield of upland rice. However, only N uptake was influenced significantly by liming. The rice plant obtained significantly higher % Ndfs from the soils treated with green manure than those treated with urea regardless of liming. The % FNU and % Ndff from the green manures were 11-37% and 9-25%, respectively. These values are much lower than those obtained under continuously flooded soil conditions possibly because of the differences in the organic matter decomposer populations and N loss mechanisms between sloping upland conditions and continuously flooded conditions.  相似文献

A field experiment was conducted to evaluate the relative contribution of organic fertilizers (paddy straw, microbial inoculants and vermicompost) and inorganic fertilizers (urea and superphosphate) in improving pH, C, N, humus, microbial biomass, dehydrogenase, phosphatase, cellulase, β-glucosidase and xylanase activities of soil under wheat crop. Vermicompost fertilization resulted in highest microbial biomass, available phosphorus, and nitrogen content of wheat soil. It was also found effective in minimizing the alkalinity of soil compared to other treatments as indicated by pH change. However incorporation of paddy straw in conjunction with N60P60 and T. reesei inoculation resulted in maximum dehydrogenase, alkaline phosphatase and highest humus content of soil. Mixed inoculation of A. awamori and T. reesei did not prove effective in improving the soil biochemical properties in comparison to single inoculation of T. reesei. Results showed that in situ incorporation of paddy straw in combination with N60P60 and T. reesei inoculation can be used as an effective measure for valuable disposal of paddy straw and to improve the soil health by reducing mineral fertilization.  相似文献

This study was conducted to investigate the influence of soil water potential, depth of N placement, timing, and cultivar on uptake of a small dose of labeled N applied after anthesis by wheat (Triticum aestivum L.) Understanding postanthesis N accumulation should allow better control of grain protein concentration through proper manipulation of inputs. Two hard, red spring-wheat cultivars were planted in early and late fall each yr of a 2-yr field experiment. Less than 1 kg N ha–1 as K 15NO3 was injected into the soil at two depths: shallow (0.05 to 0.08 m) and deep (0.15 to 0.18 m). In both years an irrigation was applied at anthesis, and injections of labeled N were timed 4, 12, and 20 days after anthesis (DAA). Soil water potential was estimated at the time of injection. Mean recovery of 15N in grain and straw was 57% of the 15N applied. Recovery did not differ between the high-protein (Yecora Rojo) and the low-protein (Anza or Yolo) cultivars. Mean recovery from deep placement was 60% versus only 54% from shallow placement (p < 0.01). Delaying the time of injection decreased mean recovery significantly from 58% at 4 DAA to 54% at 20 DAA. This decrease was most pronounced in the shallow placement, where soil drying was most severe. Regressions of recovery on soil water potential of individual cultivar x yr x planting x depth treatments were significant only under the driest conditions. Stepwise regression of 15N recovery on soil water potential and yield parameters using data from all treatments of both years resulted in an equation including soil water potential and N yield, with a multiple correlation coefficient of 0.64. The translocation of 15N to grain was higher (0.89) than the nitrogen harvest index (0.69), and showed a highly significant increase with increase in DAA. This experiment indicates that the N uptake capacity of wheat remains reasonably constant between 4 and 20 DAA unless soil drying is severe.  相似文献

The effect of inoculation of the phosphate-solubilizing microorganisms (PSM) Bacillus circulans and Cladosporium herbarum and the arbuscular mycorrhizal (AM) fungus Glomus fasciculatum with or without Mussoorie rockphosphate (MRP) was studied in a P-deficient natural non-disinfected sandy soil on mungbean (Vigna radiata). The AM levels increased following the addition of MRP or inoculation with PSM or G. fasciculatum. Both grain and straw yield of mungbean increased following inoculation with PSM or the AM fungus. In general, the increase in yield was higher in the presence of MRP and inoculation with a combination of PSM and AM fungus. Highest N and P uptake by mungbean was recorded after treatment with a combination of B. circulans, C. herbarum and G. fasciculatum in the presence of MRP. Generally the PSM population increased after AM fungus inoculation. Accepted: 13 October 1997  相似文献

A greenhouse experiment evaluated the effect of phytoextraction of arsenic from a contaminated soil by Chinese Brake Fern (Pteris vittata L.) and its subsequent effects on growth and uptake of arsenic by rice (Oryza sativa L.) crop. Pteris vittata was grown for one or two growing cycles of four months each with two phosphate sources, using single super phosphate (SSP) and di-ammonium phosphate (DAP). Rice was grown on phytoextracted soils followed by measurements of biomass yield (grain, straw, and root), arsenic concentration and, uptake by individual plant parts. The biomass yield (grain, straw and rice) of rice was highest in soil phytoextracted with Pteris vittata grown for two cycles and fertilized with diammonium phosphate (DAP). Total arsenic uptake in contaminated soil ranged from 8.2 to 16.9 mg pot(-1) in first growing cycle and 5.5 to 12.0 mg pot(-1) in second growing cycle of Pteris vittata. There was thus a mean reduction of 52% in arsenic content of rice grain after two growing cycle of Pteris vittata and 29% after the one growing cycle. The phytoextraction of arsenic contaminated soil by Pteris vittata was beneficial for growing rice resulted in decreased arsenic content in rice grain of <1 ppm. There was a mean improvement in rice grain yield 14% after two growing cycle and 8% after the one growing cycle of brake fern.  相似文献

Summary The inoculation of the soil with the nitrogen fixing blue-green alga,Calothrix anomala had a positive effect onCapsicum annum andLactuca sativa, in terms of yield and percentage nitrogen. A combined application of urea and alga was more effective than their individual applications.  相似文献

A pot and a lysimeter experiment were carried out to study the effects of inoculation of the roots of rice seedlings with R. capsulatus in combination with graded levels of nitrogen (N) fertilizer on growth and yield of the rice variety Giza 176. Inoculation increased all the measured growth parameters and yield attributes, but the statistically significant differences at all N levels tested were only those for plant dry weight, number of productive tillers, grain and straw yields. The absolute increases in grain yield of the pot experiment due to inoculation were 0.63, 0.93 and 1.22 ton ha–1 at 0, 47.6 and 95.2 kg N ha–1, respectively. The results suggest that inoculation along with 47.6 kg N ha–1 can save 50% of the nitrogen fertilizer needed for optimum G176 rice crop. However, inoculation along with 95.2 kg N ha–1 can increase grain yield by about 1.2 ton ha–1. This is probably the first reported evidence of a beneficial effect of phototrophic purple nonsulphur bacteria on rice growth and yield under flooded soil conditions.  相似文献

Rice performance, in terms of plant height, productive tillering, yield and N-contents of grain and straw, harvest index (grain yield as a percentage of grain plus straw yields) and relative fertilizer N-use efficiency (kg grain yield/kg fertilizer-N) was enhanced by urea, ZnSO4 and green manuring withAzolla caroliniana. Unlike urea fertilizer, calcium superphosphate increased the rate of azolla field colonization and promoted a thick, healthy dark-green mat of the fern. Response to ZnSO4 was higher in the azolla-free sub-subplots. Application of ZnSO4 corrected symptoms of Zn deficiency in rice but the addition of calcium superphosphate in the absence of Zn intensified the symptoms of Zn deficiency.  相似文献

Summary A microplot field experiment was conducted in the presence or absence of P and N application to evaluate the influence of the seed inoculation of mustard (cv. Baruna T59) withAzospirillum lipoferum on N2-fixation in rhizosphere, association of the bacteria with the roots and grain yield and N uptake. Inoculation significantly increased the N content in rhizosphere soil particularly at early stage (40 days) of plant growth, which was accompanied by the increased association of the bacteria (A. lipoferum) in rhizosphere soil, root surface washing and surface-sterilized macerated root. A significant increase in grain yield and N uptake was also observed due to inoculation. Application of P particularly at the 20 kg. ha–1 level further enhanced the beneficial effect ofAzospirillum lipoferum inoculation, while N addition markedly reduced such an effect.  相似文献

Summary The importance of initial exchangeable soil NH 4 + in nitrogen nutrition and grain yield of rice was studied in a number of representative lowland rice soils in the Philippines. The initial exchangeable soil NH 4 + +fertilizer N plotted against nitrogen uptake by the crop resulted in a highly significant linear relationship (R2=0.91), suggesting that the presence of exchangeable NH 4 + in the soil at transplanting behaved like fertilizer nitrogen. The correlation between N fertilizer rate and N uptake by the rice crop was relatively poor (R2=0.73). On the other hand, relative grain yield was more closely correlated with the initial exchangeable soil NH 4 + +fertilizer N than with fertilizer nitrogen applied alone. These results indicate that the initial exchangeable NH 4 + in the soil contributed substantially to the nitrogen uptake of the crop.Critical nitrogen levels in the soil defined as the initial exchangeable soil NH 4 + +fertilizer N at which the optimum grain yield (95% of the maximum yield) is obtained, varied from 60 to 100 kg N/ha in the wet season and from 100 to 120 kg N/ha in the dry season for the different fertilizer treatments. The results further suggest that the initial exchangeable soil NH 4 + should serve as a guide in selecting an optimum nitrogen fertilizer rate for high grain yields.  相似文献

Aims

Effects of different soil amendments were investigated on methane (CH4) emission, soil quality parameters and rice productivity in irrigated paddy field of Bangladesh.

Methods

The experiment was laid out in a randomized complete block design with five treatments and three replications. The experimental treatments were urea (220 kg ha?1) + rice straw compost (2 t ha?1) as a control, urea (170 kg ha?1) + rice straw compost (2 t ha?1) + silicate fertilizer, urea (170 kg ha?1) + sesbania biomass (2 t ha?1 ) + silicate fertilizer, urea (170 kg ha?1) + azolla biomass (2 t ha?1) + cyanobacterial mixture 15 kg ha?1 silicate fertilizer, urea (170 kg ha?1) + cattle manure compost (2 t ha?1) + silicate fertilizer.

Results

The average of two growing seasons CH4 flux 132 kg ha?1 was recorded from the conventional urea (220 kg ha?1) with rice straw compost incorporated field plot followed by 126.7 (4 % reduction), 130.7 (1.5 % reduction), 116 (12 % reduction) and 126 (5 % reduction) kg CH4 flux ha?1 respectively, with rice straw compost, sesbania biomass, azolla anabaena and cattle manure compost in combination urea and silicate fertilizer applied plots. Rice grain yield was increased by 15 % and 10 % over the control (4.95 Mg ha?1) with silicate plus composted cattle manure and silicate plus azolla anabaena, respectively. Soil quality parameters such as soil organic carbon, total nitrogen, microbial biomass carbon, soil redox status and cations exchange capacity were improved with the added organic materials and azolla biofertilizer amendments with silicate slag and optimum urea application (170 kg ha?1) in paddy field.

Conclusion

Integrated application of silicate fertilizer, well composted organic manures and azolla biofertilizer could be an effective strategy to minimize the use of conventional urea fertilizer, reducing CH4 emissions, improving soil quality parameters and increasing rice productivity in subtropical countries like Bangladesh.  相似文献

Productive tillering, grain and straw yields and N-contents of indica rice IR-28 were increased more by urea fertilizer at 48 or 96 kg N/ha along with Inoculation by cyanobacteria than by using 144 kg N/ha without inoculation. Fertilizer N-use efficiency was increased by the cyanobacteria and decreased with increasing amount of urea fertilizer. Further enhancement was obtained by soil application of calclum superphosphate at 36 kg P2O5/ha or sodium molybdate at 1 ppm Mo along with cyanobacteria and/or urea. Application of phosphate, however, slightly diminished the enhancement by molybdate. The author is with the Sakha Agricultural Research Station, Kafr El-Sheikh, Egypt.  相似文献

A sophisticated soil microcosm system and 15N-labeled urea were used to investigate nitrogen (N) use efficiency and soil N dynamics in a rice monoculture system in two successive seasons. Topsoil (0 cm?C20 cm) and subsoil (20 cm?C50 cm) samples were collected from a traditional double rice cropping field in the Jiangxi Province, China, and these soil samples were derived from Quaternary red clay. Treatments were randomly assigned with two irrigation regimes and three N application rates (no application control, 80% traditional rate and 100% traditional rate noted as N0, N1 and N2, respectively). The levels of 15N recovery of plants, 15N and N remaining in soil were determined. Moreover, the N dynamic of soil solution from different layers of the soil profile was surveyed. The results showed that the effects of irrigation management and N application rate varied in different rice growing seasons. Irrigation regimes had remarkable effects on grain yield and chemical 15N fertilizers (CF-15N) uptake. When compared to flood irrigation (FI), the shallow water depth with wetting and drying (WD) increased grain yield up to 5.7%?C20%. Although the highest grain yield was obtained with reduced N application level, both N apparent recovery (NAR) and 15N use efficiency (the percentage of plant N uptake derived from applied N, %Ndfan) significantly decreased with increasing N inputs. However, the interaction between irrigation management and N application rate on grain yield and N use efficiency (NUE) of CF-15N were not significant. A survey of soil solutions every 5 days indicated that NH 4 + -N was the main residual form of N, and high NH 4 + -N leaching was observed. When compared to FI, WD decreased vertical NH 4 + -N and TN leaching, especially at 10?C50 cm depths of soil profile in the second season. NH 4 + -N was the main N residual form in the soil profile. Therefore, in this study, the WD irrigation regime and reduced rate (N1) was the optimal irrigation and fertilizer management strategy to increase the NUE of CF-N, increase the after effects of CF-15N, decrease leaching loss of CF-15N and minimize the shallow groundwater pollution risk, which were all beneficial for the ecological environment.  相似文献

We conducted a 4-year field experiment on a calcareous paddy soil in Zhejiang province of China to measure the changes in chemically extracted soil P fractions in an irrigated double-cropping rice system. Treatments included four fertilizer combinations (unfertilized control, NK, NP, and NPK) as main-plots and two rice cultivar types (inbred vs. hybrid rice) as sub-plots. Total plant P uptake and grain yield of rice declined in all treatments over time. Severe P-deficiency and significant rice yield losses began in treatments without P application after the second rice crop. Compared to inbred rice, hybrid rice increased grain yield (+18%), N uptake (+11%) and K uptake (+27%) but there was no significant difference in total plant P uptake. Recovery efficiencies of fertilizer-P averaged 31–32% in both cultivars. In treatments without P application, the P mass balance was negative (−6 to −8 kg P ha−1 crop−1) and phosphorus was drawn down in all inorganic P fractions, including resin, alkali- (NaHCO3-Pi and NaOH-Pi) and acid-soluble P fractions (dilute HCl-P, concentrated HCl-P, residual-P). Only small amounts were removed from organic P fractions, 1–3 mg P kg−1 year−1 from NaHCO3-Po and none from NaOH-Po. In treatments with fertilizer-P addition, the P mass balance was positive (+8 to 10 kg P ha−1 crop−1), soil P declined at a slower rate in inorganic P fractions and it increased (+51%) in the residual-P fraction. Hybrid rice generally caused greater depletion of inorganic soil P fractions than inbred rice, but there was no difference among cultivars in their effect on NaHCO3-Po and NaOH-Po. Positive correlations (r = 0.63–0.81, P < 0.001) were observed between all inorganic P fractions (except residual-P) and total P uptake by rice. Our results suggest that rice plants draw P from a continuum of chemically extracted fractions that are assumed to have widely differing plant P availability. Regular P additions are required to maintain the effective soil P supply and differences between inbred and hybrid rice should be taken into account in P management strategies.

Microbes play key roles in diverse biogeochemical processes including nutrient cycling. However, responses of soil microbial community and functional genes to long-term integrated fertilization (chemical combined with organic fertilization) remain unclear. Here, we used pyrosequencing and a microarray-based GeoChip to explore the shifts of microbial community and functional genes in a paddy soil which received over 21-year fertilization with various regimes, including control (no fertilizer), rice straw (R), rice straw plus chemical fertilizer nitrogen (NR), N and phosphorus (NPR), NP and potassium (NPKR), and reduced rice straw plus reduced NPK (L-NPKR). Significant shifts of the overall soil bacterial composition only occurred in the NPKR and L-NPKR treatments, with enrichment of certain groups including Bradyrhizobiaceae and Rhodospirillaceae families that benefit higher productivity. All fertilization treatments significantly altered the soil microbial functional structure with increased diversity and abundances of genes for carbon and nitrogen cycling, in which NPKR and L-NPKR exhibited the strongest effect, while R exhibited the least. Functional gene structure and abundance were significantly correlated with corresponding soil enzymatic activities and rice yield, respectively, suggesting that the structural shift of the microbial functional community under fertilization might promote soil nutrient turnover and thereby affect yield. Overall, this study indicates that the combined application of rice straw and balanced chemical fertilizers was more pronounced in shifting the bacterial composition and improving the functional diversity toward higher productivity, providing a microbial point of view on applying a cost-effective integrated fertilization regime with rice straw plus reduced chemical fertilizers for sustainable nutrient management.

Summary A replicated field experiment was conducted to study the effect of exchangeable sodium percentage (ESP) on the yield, chemical composition, protein and oil content and uptake of nutrients by groundnut (Arachis hypogaea Linn.) variety M-13. ESP over 15 delayed germination and emergence of flowers. There was continuous decrease in dry matter yield at 30 and 60 days of growth, grain and straw yield after harvest and protein, oil and kernel percent with increase in soil ESP. A 50 per cent reduction in groundnut yield was observed at an ESP of 20. Increasing soil ESP, increased Na and decreased K, Ca and N contents, but had no effect on the Mg, P, S, Fe, Mn, Zn and Cu contents of the plant. Sodium content of the plant increased, while potassium and nitrogen decreased with age of the plant. The uptake of all the nutrients decreased with increase in soil ESP. The results showed that groundnut is a relatively sensitive crop to soil sodicity.  相似文献
