Sixteen tardigrade species have been identified from a total of 943 specimens isolated from 69 positive soil samples collected in southern Spain (Andalusia, Huelva). Three genera (Hexapodibius, Xerobiotus and the new genus Sarascon) and eight species are new records for the Iberian Peninsula, increasing Iberian tardigrade biodiversity by 6%, and 10 species are new records for soil habitats, increasing soil tardigrade biodiversity by 9% (from 96 to 108 species). A newly discovered species and genus are described, followed by an analysis and discussion of the species' phylogenetic position and synapomorphies, based on morphological and total evidence (morphology and molecular – 18S and 28S rRNA – data combined) phylogenetic analyses. The new genus is distinguished from other Itaquasconinae genera, to which it is phylogenetically related, by having a Parascon buccopharyngeal apparatus and Ramajendas claws. In contrast to general eutardigrade evolution, which is primarily determined by claw morphology, itaquasconid evolution is more related to buccopharyngeal apparatus morphology, which shows homoplastic evolution at superfamily, family and subfamily levels, and also defines functional trophic groups in soil-related environments.http://zoobank.org/urn:lsid:zoobank.org:pub:068B9D87-27E2-4B26-8920-FF03CEF9869A 相似文献

On the basis of LM, we isolated strains of two species of fusiform green flagellates that could be assigned to former Chlorogonium (Cg.) Ehrenb. One species, “Cg.”heimii Bourr., lacked a pyrenoid in its vegetative cells and required organic compounds for growth. The other was similar to Cg. elongatum (P. A. Dang.) Francé and “Cg.”acus Nayal, but with slightly smaller vegetative cells. Their molecular phylogeny was also studied based on combined 18S rRNA, RUBISCO LSU (rbcL), and P700 chl a‐apoprotein A2 (psaB) gene sequences. Both species were separated from Chlorogonium emend., Gungnir Nakada and Rusalka Nakada, which were formerly assigned to Chlorogonium. They were accordingly assigned to new genera, Tabris Nakada gen. nov. and Hamakko (Hk.) Nakada gen. nov. as T. heimii (Bourr.) Nakada comb. nov. and Hk. caudatus Nakada sp. nov., respectively. Tabris is differentiated from other genera of fusiform green flagellates by its vegetative cells, which only have two apical contractile vacuoles and lack a pyrenoid in the chloroplast. Hamakko, on the other hand, is distinguishable by the fact that its pyrenoids in vegetative cells are penetrated by flattened thylakoid lamellae. 相似文献

We examined the molecular phylogeny and ultrastructure of Chlorogonium and related species to establish the natural taxonomy at the generic level. Phylogenetic analyses of 18S rRNA and RUBISCO LSU (rbcL) gene sequences revealed two separate clades of Chlorogonium from which Chlorogonium (Cg.) fusiforme Matv. was robustly separated. One clade comprised Cg. neglectum Pascher and Cg. kasakii Nozaki, whereas the other clade included the type species Cg. euchlorum (Ehrenb.) Ehrenb., Cg. elongatum (P. A. Dang.) Francé, and Cg. capillatum Nozaki, M. Watanabe et Aizawa. On the basis of unique ultrastructural characteristics, we described Gungnir Nakada gen. nov. comprising three species: G. neglectum (Pascher) Nakada comb. nov., G. mantoniae (H. Ettl) Nakada comb. nov., and G. kasakii (Nozaki) Nakada comb. nov. We also emended Chlorogonium as a monophyletic genus composed of Cg. euchlorum, Cg. elongatum, and Cg. capillatum. Because Cg. fusiforme was distinguished from the redefined Chlorogonium and Gungnir by the structure of its starch plate, which is associated with pyrenoids, we reclassified this species as Rusalka fusiformis (Matv.) The systematics of the widespread neotropical gekkonid genus Thecadactylus is investigated using a combination of morphological, morphometric and mtDNA (cytochrome b ) sequence data, forming a total evidence dataset. The analysis tackles the common yet complex problem of a widespread taxon consisting of one or more cryptic species that are difficult to diagnose using morphology alone. The data are analysed using both maximum parsimony and Bayesian inference. Virtually all analyses resolve a well-supported south-western Amazonian clade distinct from the remainder of the recognized T. rapicauda . The south-western Amazonian clade is not only robustly supported, but also exclusive, geographically coherent and sufficiently distinct to warrant specific recognition. The new species is diagnosable on the basis of molecular sequences that are 23.0–26.9% divergent from those of T. rapicauda , and morphological evidence. Bayesian inference analysis robustly resolves meaningful and repeatable patterns of relationship. The biogeography of Thecadactylus is interpreted in the context of its two constituent species, and difficulties of resolving systematic and biogeographical patterns in widespread, cosmopolitan taxa are discussed. © 2007 The Linnean Society of London, Zoological Journal of the Linnean Society , 2007, 149 , 339–370. 相似文献

To understand patterns and processes of the diversification of life, we require an accurate understanding of taxon interrelationships. Recent studies have suggested that analyses of morphological character data using the Bayesian and maximum likelihood Mk model provide phylogenies of higher accuracy compared to parsimony methods. This has proved controversial, particularly studies simulating morphology‐data under Markov models that assume shared branch lengths for characters, as it is claimed this leads to bias favouring the Bayesian or maximum likelihood Mk model over parsimony models which do not explicitly make this assumption. We avoid these potential issues by employing a simulation protocol in which character states are randomly assigned to tips, but datasets are constrained to an empirically realistic distribution of homoplasy as measured by the consistency index. Datasets were analysed with equal weights and implied weights parsimony, and the maximum likelihood and Bayesian Mk model. We find that consistent (low homoplasy) datasets render method choice largely irrelevant, as all methods perform well with high consistency (low homoplasy) datasets, but the largest discrepancies in accuracy occur with low consistency datasets (high homoplasy). In such cases, the Bayesian Mk model is significantly more accurate than alternative models and implied weights parsimony never significantly outperforms the Bayesian Mk model. When poorly supported branches are collapsed, the Bayesian Mk model recovers trees with higher resolution compared to other methods. As it is not possible to assess homoplasy independently of a tree estimate, the Bayesian Mk model emerges as the most reliable approach for categorical morphological analyses. 相似文献

Three isolated strains from human feces were characterized by biochemical tests and 16S rDNA analysis. Phylogenetic analysis revealed that these isolated strains were members of the Clostridium subphylum of gram-positive bacteria. The phenotypic characters resembled those of the genus Eubacterium, but these strains were shown to be phylogenetically distant from the type species of the genus, Eubacterium limosum. The strains showed a specific phylogenetic association with Holdemania filiformis and Erysipelothrix rhusiopathiae. Based on a 16S rDNA sequence divergence of greater than 12% with H. filiformis and E. rhusiopathiae, a new genus, Solobacterium, is proposed for three strains, with one species, Solobacterium moorei. Periphytic ciliates play a vital role in the material cycle and energy flow of microbial food web, however, their taxonomy and biodiversity are inadequately studied given their high species richness. Two new and one little known species, viz. Derouxella lembodes gen. et sp. nov., Cyrtophoron multivacuolatum sp. nov., and Cyrtophoron apsheronica Aliev, 1991, collected from coastal waters of China, were investigated using modern methods. Derouxella gen. nov. can be recognized by having dorsoventrally flattened body, a podite, one fragmented preoral kinety, two parallel circumoral kineties, and somatic kineties progressively shortened from right to left. Morphological classification and phylogenetic analyses based on nuclear small subunit ribosomal RNA (nSSU rRNA) and mitochondrial small subunit ribosomal RNA (mtSSU rRNA) gene sequence data inferred that Derouxella gen. nov. occupies an intermediate position between Hartmannulidae and Dysteriidae. Cyrtophoron multivacuolatum sp. nov. is characterized by large body size, the numbers of somatic kineties and nematodesmal rods, and having numerous contractile vacuoles. The genus Cyrtophoron and the poorly known species C. apsheronica were redefined. Even with the addition of newly obtained nSSU rRNA and mtSSU rRNA gene sequences of Cyrtophoron, the family Chlamydodontidae was still recovered as a monophyletic group, the monophyly of Cyrtophoron was supported too. 相似文献

Rutaraphes shikokuensis gen. et sp. nov. is described from Shikoku, Japan. The new taxon belongs to a group of genera characterized by the lateral sutures demarcating the submentum and is most similar to Neuraphes and Scydmoraphes. Morphological structures of Rutaraphes are illustrated and possible affinities with other genera of Cyrtoscydmini are discussed. Keys to identification of Palearctic and Japanese genera of Cyrtoscydmini are given. Including Rutaraphes, 14 genera of Scydmaeninae are currently known to occur in Japan. 相似文献

Isolates AH11T and AH13T were isolated from flowers of lantana and candle bush respectively collected in Thailand. In phylogenetic trees based on 16S rRNA gene sequences, the two isolates formed an independent cluster, which was then connected to the type strain of Saccharibacter floricola. The calculated pair-wise 16S rRNA gene sequence similarities of isolate AH11T were 95.7–92.3% to the type strains of the type species of the 12 genera of acetic acid bacteria. The DNA base composition was from 51.2 to 56.8 mol % G+C, with a range of 5.6 mol %. When isolate AH11T was labeled, DNA-DNA similarities were 100, 12, 4, 5, and 4% respectively to isolates AH11T and AH13T and the type strains of Saccharibacter floricola, Gluconobacter oxydans, and Acetobacter aceti. The two isolates were non-motile and did not oxidize either acetate or lactate. No growth was found in the presence of 0.35% acetic acid w/v. The two isolates were not osmophilic but osmotolerant, produced 2,5-diketo-D-gluconate from D-glucose, and did not oxidize lactate, thus differing from strains of Saccharibacter floricola, which showed weak lactate oxidation. The two isolates contained unsaturated C18:1ω7c fatty acid as the major fatty acid, and were unique in the presence of a considerable amount of straight-chain C18:12OH fatty acid. Q-10 was present as the major isoprenoid quinone. Neokomagataea gen. nov. was proposed with the two species, Neokomagataea thailandica sp. nov. for isolate AH11T (=BCC 25710 T =NBRC 106555T), which has 56.8 mol % G+C, and Neokomagataea tanensis sp. nov. for isolate AH13T (=BCC 25711T=NBRC 106556T), which has 51.2 mol % G+C. 相似文献

A new genus and species Hula recurvata is described from the Posong-chong Formation (Siegenian) of Lower Devonian in Wenshan district, Yunnan, China.This plant possesses pseudomonopodial and dichotomous axes with terminal spikes andit sometimes has single sporangia below the branching point within the fertile regions.Sporangia with stalks are ovate, adaxially recurved and downwards and spirally arrangedon the axis of the spike. Protostele is centrarch. The characteristics stated above showthe new plant has close affinity to Taeniocrada decheniana, but it differes from the members of any other rhyniophytes as well as zosterophyllophytes. A new family——Taeniocradaceae can be established and is provisionally assigned to Rhyniophytina. Evolutionary line of early land-plants, from Rhyniaceae to Taeniocradaceae and then to Bari-nophytaceae is discussed in this paper. 相似文献

A new ceramiaceous alga, Sciurothamnion stegengae De Clerck et Kraft, gen. et sp. nov., is described from the western Indian Ocean and the Philippines. Sciurothamnion appears related to the tribe Callithamnieae on the basis of the position and composition of its procarps and by the majority of post‐fertilization events. It differs, however, from all current members of the tribe by the presence of two periaxial cells bearing determinate laterals per axial cell. Additionally, unlike any present representative of the subfamily Callithamnioideae, no intercalary foot cell is formed after diploidization of the paired auxiliary cells. The genus is characterized by a terminal foot cell (“disposal cell”), which segregates the haploid nuclei of the diploidized auxiliary cell from the diploid zygote nucleus. The nature of three types of foot cells reported in the Ceramiaceae (intercalary foot cells containing only haploid nuclei, intercalary foot cells containing haploid nuclei and a diploid nucleus, and terminal foot cells containing only haploid nuclei) is discussed. 相似文献
