Methods of purification and properties of the digitalis-like substances from different animal-origin sources are considered. Possible mechanisms of the cardiac glycoside-effect on the cardiac muscle and endogenous digitalis-like factors' effect on the smooth muscles of the blood vessels are discussed. Criteria that may be used to characterize the digitalis-like activity in samples and extracts obtained from different tissues are presented. The role of these substances in some types of pathologies, especially in the development of hypertension, is considered.  相似文献

Under controlled environment and/or field conditions, vegetative growth (height, internode length, leaf area, shoot dry weight, grain yield) was greater in an F1 maize hybrid than in either parental inbred. Endogenous gibberellin (GA)-like substances in apical meristem cylinders were also higher in the hybrid than in either inbred, both on a per plant and per gram dry weight basis. There were no apparent qualitative differences in GA-like substances, however. Levels of GA-like substances in all genotypes were highest prior to tassel initiation. Chromatographic comparisons of the GA-like substances and authentic standards of GA native to maize on gradient-eluted SiO2 partition and reverse-phase C18 high-pressure liquid chromatography columns are described. No consistent differences in abscisic acid levels of the three genotypes were observed. This correlation of heterosis for endogenous GA-like substances with heterosis for growth suggests that amounts of endogenous GA may be related to hybrid vigor in maize.  相似文献

Endogenous endophthalmitis is a complication of sepsis usually found in immunocompromised patients. Patient symptoms may include ocular pain, reduced vision, photophobia and floaters. Clinical signs may vary and include lid edema, conjunctival hyperemia and chemosis, corneal edema, iritis, hypopyon, vitritis, retinitis and retinal detachment. Early diagnosis is crucial because delay of treatment is the factor most associated with a poor visual prognosis. Treatment is with systemic antibiotics and adjunctive topical and intravitreal antibiotic therapy.  相似文献

The effects of supplemental oral (0, 40, and 400 ppm) and parenteral iron (0 and 2.72 mg Fe iv given initially as a single dose) on iron absorption, excretion, and retention were determined in 30 rats. Endogenous fecal iron excretion was determined by the radioisotope dilution technique after im injection of 80 kBq Fe-59, using blood and certain body tissues as reference sources for the estimation of the specific activity (Bq Fe-59/micrograms Fe) of endogenous iron. The basal diet contained 3.6 ppm Fe. Fe(III)-hydroxide-polymaltose was used as the sole iron source in oral, iv, and im iron treatments. Iron balance as determined from day 14 to 20 of the experiment was not significantly affected by iv iron administration. Nevertheless, a temporarily reduced retention should have occurred, since differences in final body iron contents were lower than 2.72 mg, as compared to the respective untreated groups. Apparent iron absorption and iron retention increased with surplus oral iron, and the efficiency rates were highest with adequate iron supply (40 ppm). True absorption rates of iron were similar without any, and with 40 ppm Fe amounting 40 to 50% of the intake. In the iron deficient rats, half of the actually absorbed iron (about 16 micrograms/d) was lost by endogenous fecal re-excretion, and another 3 micrograms/d by the urinary route. Endogenous loss with feces and with urine increased with further oral iron supply, but at a considerably lower rate as total fecal excretion. Parenterally administered iron did not affect endogenous loss at all. The results indicate that endogenous excretion cannot be regarded as a means to eliminate excessive iron, and might actually be an inevitable loss.  相似文献

The effect of opiate peptides on basal and potassium-stimulated endogenous dopamine (DA) release from striatal slices was studied in vitro. Dual stimulation of the striatal slices gave a reproducible increase in DA release that was calcium dependent. Addition of the delta-opiate receptor agonists Met5-enkephalin, [D-Ala2,D-Leu5]enkephalin (DADLE), and [D-Ser2]Leu-enkephalin-Thr (DSLET), increased the basal DA release without affecting potassium-stimulated release in a dose-dependent manner. The effect of DADLE was antagonized by the addition of naloxone. In contrast, the mu-opioid receptor agonist [D-Ala2,N-MePhe4,Gly-ol5]enkephalin (DAGO) and the epsilon-opioid agonist beta-endorphin inhibited the stimulated DA release without changing the basal release. The inhibitory effect of DAGO on potassium-stimulated release was antagonized by naloxone. The addition of ethanol (75 mM) to the incubation media produced a delayed increase of both the basal and stimulated DA release. There was no change in stimulated DA release when the change in basal release was subtracted, suggesting that ethanol produced a dose-dependent, selective increase in basal DA release. Naloxone and the selective delta-opiate antagonist ICI 174864 inhibited the ethanol-induced increase in basal DA release. Naloxone and ICI 174864 added alone did not alter either basal or stimulated DA release. We therefore suggest that the ethanol-induced increase in basal DA release is an indirect effect involving an endogenous delta-opiate agonist.  相似文献

Resume It is demonstrated that the cancer-producing substances contain particles of carbon, metals or polymerised compounds, all having surface-electrons, and it is made assumptive that products having a low energy of ionisation are able to deactivate the carcinogenic particles and also to repress malignant growth.In the interest of the public health the combustion in the internal combustion engine should be made more complete and the use of lead compounds as anti-knock agents should be prohibited. The frequencies of adventitious root formation in vitro of isolated shoots from bud cultures of apple (Malus pumila cv. Jonathan) after 1, 7 and 31 subcultures (weeks 5, 29 and 109 after the initial culture) were 5, 78 and 95% respectively. Endogenous gibberellin-like substances (GA) were extracted, chromatographed on SiO2 partition columns, and assayed on dwarf rice (Oryza sativa cv. Tan-ginbozu). The levels of GA in shoots from the 1st, 7th and 31st subcultures were 40, 19 and 14 ng GA3 eq./g dry weight of tissue, respectively, a trend which suggests an inverse relationship between endogenous GA level and rooting ability. This is consistent with the fact that applied GA3 inhibits rooting in apple and many other species. The major peak of GA activity eluted coincidentally with GA1/GA3/GA19. Endogenous cytokinin-like substances (CK) were chromatographed on paper and assayed with soybean hypocotyl sections. In contrast to the decrease in GA activity, CK activity increased 1.5–2.7 fold in the later subcultures (cytokinin activity per shoot, however, declined).  相似文献
