The present study was conducted during the years 2006 to 2012 and provides information on prevalence of malaria and its regulation with effect to various climatic factors in East Siang district of Arunachal Pradesh, India. Correlation analysis, Principal Component Analysis and Hotelling’s T2 statistics models are adopted to understand the effect of weather variables on malaria transmission. The epidemiological study shows that the prevalence of malaria is mostly caused by the parasite Plasmodium vivax followed by Plasmodium falciparum. It is noted that, the intensity of malaria cases declined gradually from the year 2006 to 2012. The transmission of malaria observed was more during the rainy season, as compared to summer and winter seasons. Further, the data analysis study with Principal Component Analysis and Hotelling’s T2 statistic has revealed that the climatic variables such as temperature and rainfall are the most influencing factors for the high rate of malaria transmission in East Siang district of Arunachal Pradesh.  相似文献

The present study highlighted the state of climate change induced social vulnerability of the districts of Arunachal Pradesh. For the purpose of assessment of one of the most fragile ecosystems of the eastern Himalaya, the ‘Integrated Vulnerability Assessment Approach’ and IPCC’s definition of vulnerability were utilized. The assessment was based on various secondary data, like socio-economic and biophysical indicators, collected from several authenticated sources; and the respective weightage of these indicators was assigned by using ‘Principal Component Analysis’. Vulnerability was calculated as the net effect of exposure and sensitivity on the adaptive capacity. Anjaw district of eastern Arunachal Pradesh was found to be the most vulnerable district, while Tawang district of western Arunachal Pradesh happened to be the least vulnerable. This net effect was found negative in 7 out of 12 districts viz. Anjaw, Upper Siang, West Siang, Lower Dibang Valley, East Siang, East Kameng and Kurung Kurmey. This net negative effect could be construed as an alarming situation.  相似文献

Reports on the distribution pattern of Grey-headed gliding Squirrel Petaurista caniceps are distorted though it is on record that they inhabit the easternmost parts of Arunachal Pradesh. But recently through spotlight surveys in the month of February and March 2015 it has been possible to note their occurrence in Mehao Wildlife Sanctuary and Talle Wildlife Sanctuary in Arunachal Pradesh. P. caniceps is included as synonym to Petaurista elegans by IUCN. P. caniceps differs from P. elegans in having a distinct grey head and molecular evidences too have proved it to be a separate species.  相似文献

Musa puspanjaliae R. Gogoi & Häkkinen, a new species of Musa sect. Musa, is described and illustrated from west Kameng, Arunachal Pradesh, India based on morphological characteristics observed in the field. The new species is common in Sessa, Zero Point to Ramda on Sepa road of west Kameng and Hazi Basti, Ziro of lower Subansiri district in Arunachal Pradesh. In the present study an attempt has been made to examine the anthropometric variation and the relationship of anthropometric variables with climatic factors among the peoples of Arunachal Pradesh, India. The distance analysis does not seem to provide any interesting corroboration between anthropometric data and the intra- and intergroup relationship. A similar trend has also been noticed while analysing the correlation coefficient between two indices (i.e. the cephalic and total facial index). The present study suggests that the climatic factors are playing an important role in regulating the variation of anthropometric characters among the different population groups of Arunachal Pradesh.  相似文献

International Journal of Primatology, 26, 977989) discovered Arunachal macaques (Macaca munzala), a species new to science, in the eastern Himalaya of Arunachal Pradesh in northeastern India. They depicted the holotype and paratypes of the species in photographs, and a specimen of the species had been unavailable for preservation and examination. In March 2005, we obtained an entire specimen of an adult male Macaca munzala, which we propose as a voucher specimen for the species. We provide detailed morphological and anatomical measurements of the specimen and examine its affinities with other macaques. Macaca munzala appears to be unique among macaques in craniodental size and structure, baculum, and aspects of caudal structure, while exhibiting affinities with the other members of the sinica-group to which it belongs. We summarize our insights on the origins and phylogeny of Macaca munzala. Finally, we review the current conservation status of the macaques, which are threatened by extensive hunting in the only 2 districts of Arunachal Pradesh where they are documented to occur.  相似文献

Pternopetalum arunachalense M. Bhaumik & P. Satyanar. is a new species from Arunachal Pradesh in India and is described and illustrated here. This new species is similar to P. trichomanifolium (Franch.) Hand.‐Mazz. by highly dissected, ternate 2–4‐pinnate leaves, ultimate segments linear and erect elongate styles but differs by generally smaller habit and scabrid mericarps with 1–2 vittae in each furrow and commissure.  相似文献

A new species of natricid snakes, Trachischium apteii sp. nov. is described from the northeastern Indian State of Arunachal Pradesh. The new species differs from its congeners in the following suite of characters: dorsal scales in 15:15:15 rows, SVL 293–299 mm, higher ventral count 143–150, very faint dorsal longitudinal lines, absence of yellow patch on the neck and the belly being pale yellow. Preliminary discussion on the phylogenetic position of the members of the genus Trachischium is presented. This discovery of a new snake species advocates the need for dedicated surveys to document biodiversity across Arunachal Pradesh and the neighbouring States of northeastern India.  相似文献

Internal transcribed spacer (ITS) region of nuclear ribosomal DNA from 16 populations of Persicaria barbata (L.) H. Hara (Polygonaceae) belonging to five geographical locations of India (Arunachal Pradesh, Himachal Pradesh, Bihar, Karnataka and Andaman Island) was sequenced. Analysis of nucleotide sequences reveals polymorphism among the populations. UPGMA analysis conducted on the ITS datasets shows that the sampled populations of P. barbata are grouped according to their geographic locations and are supposed to be evolved under reproductive isolation which most probably are due to the long distance distribution and population fragmentation.  相似文献

Nine-hundred seventy-eight subjects from eight Mongoloid tribes of northeastern India were investigated for the distribution of hemoglobin phenotypes by starch-gel electrophoresis. The sample included 157 Khasi and 24 Bodo from Cherrapunji (Meghalaya), 148, Rengma Naga and 81 Hmar of the Cachar district of Assam, 215 Adi from different subtribes, 216 Nishi, 79 Apatani, and a mixed group of 58 individuals from several other tribes of Arunachal Pradesh in northeast India. The frequency of HBB*E was found to be very low (0.01-0.02) in the Khasi, Naga, and Hmar tribes, whereas it varied from 0.06 to 0.18 among the tribes of Arunachal Pradesh. As expected, the Bodo group had a very high frequency of HBB*E (0.38), confirming earlier reports. It appears that the lack of HBB*E in the Austro-Asiatic (Khasi) and Naga-Kuki-Chin groups is probably due to the absence of malarial selection pressure as well as to isolation from their neighbors.  相似文献

Apple pomace as a substrate for bioethanol production is interesting due to its abundance and sustainable availability in varied states like Himachal Pradesh (H.P.), Jammu and Kashmir, Uttarakhand and Arunachal Pradesh, India. In the current study, apple pomace which is the main fruit industrial waste of H.P. was evaluated as feedstock for bioethanol production by the process of enzymatic saccharification using multiple carbohydrases. Microwave pretreatment of the apple pomace resulted in the efficient removal of lignin and crystalline structure of cellulose fibre. The enzymatic saccharification of the pretreated biomass was done by optimizing parameters for maximal saccharification leads to production of 27.50?mg/g of reduce, ng sugar. An enhanced ethanol yield of 44.46?g/l and fermentation efficiency of 58% by immobilized co-culture of Saccharomyces cerevisiae MTCC 3089 and Scheffersomyces stipitis NCIM 3498 under SHF as compared to fermentation performed with free yeast cells, i.e. 34.46?g/l of ethanol and 45% of fermentation efficiency.  相似文献

The present study sought to identify the potential distribution range of critically endangered Gymnocladus assamicus in Arunachal Pradesh based on published data and field collection. We used the Maxent model to estimate the range of distribution and the result was then compared with three other models, i.e., the Generalized Linear Model (GLM), the Bioclim and the Random Forest model to assess the species' habitat suitability. A total of 23 different environmental variables were used, including bioclimatic ones, monthly minimum and maximum temperature, monthly precipitation and elevation data. The Maxent output listed 12 variables explaining 99.9% variation in the model. In comparison, Maxent showed the maximum region under habitat suitability criteria (1884.48 km2), followed by Random Forest (70.73 km2) and Bioclim (11.62 km2) model. Except for the Maxent model, suitable habitats predicted by other models are highly restricted within and across the study species' current distribution range. The average model prediction shows an expanded distribution range for the species up to Tawang which is the closest district of currently known distribution of the species in the state. Thus, the present study recognizes the importance of the geographic range of G. assamicus, a critically endangered species with very limited spatial distribution range and also provides some specific details to explore possible habitats for the species in new areas of potential occurrence in Arunachal Pradesh, India.  相似文献

Abstract:A new species, Cladonia singhii Ahti & Dixit (type from the state of Arunachal Pradesh), is described. A further seven Cladonia species, C. corniculata, C. kanewskii, C. laii, C. luteoalba, C. mauritiana, C. mongolica and C. rei, are reported as new to the recent checklist of lichens of the Indian subcontinent. The genus Anonchotaenia Cohn, 1900 contains 23 valid species. In this paper Anonchotaenia adhiraji sp.n. obtained from the intestine of a bird Hypsipetes madagascarensis commonly known as black bulbul from Bomdila in Dirang district of Arunachal Pradesh, India is described and illustrated.The species is characterized by a large unarmed, square-shaped scolex; testes 7–8 in number arranged in two lateral groups and a voluminous paruterine organ that differentiates it from the rest of the described species in the genus. This is also the first report of the genus Anonchotaenia Cohn, 1900 from Arunachal Pradesh, India.  相似文献
