This paper concerns the case of an anencephalus male fetus with partial trisomy 20p product of a maternal translocation 46,XX, t(15;20) (p11.2;p12), ascertained by prenatal diagnosis. A cytogenetic review of previous cases is presented. Several hypotheses are discussed in order to explain the recurrent abortions of the mother and the aetiology of anencephaly in this last pregnancy.  相似文献

Two patients with a trisomy 7p are reported. Both were assessed by facial dysmorphism and congenital anomalies. In one of the patients trisomy 7p was a de novo event, in the other patient unbalanced inheritance of a parental translocation caused trisomy 7p. Developmental delay was severe in both. A mentally retarded boy with multiple malformations was found to have trisomy for the distal two-thirds of the short arm of chromosome 20 (trisomy 20p), resulting from a paternal translocation (5;20)(p15;p11). The patient had a cleft palate, a feature not present in other trisomy 20p patients. A review of the reported trisomy 20p patients indicates that their varied features do no constitute a readily recognizable clinical syndrome.  相似文献

A child with mental retardation and multiple congenital abnormalities, including brachycephaly, an unusual facies, brachydactyly, clinodactyly and bilateral talipes valgus, was found to have a small interstitial deletion of the short arm of chromosome 17. Summary The first case of trisomy of probable 12p mosaicism originated de novo is presented. Comparison of the clinical findings of this patient with those of previously described cases of 12p trisomy derived from translocated chromosomes indicates that the symptoms of 12p trisomy are: (1) normal birth weight and physical development, (2) severe psychomotor retardation and generalized hypotonia, (3) peculiarly round face with prominent cheeks, hypertelorism, epicanthus, broad, flat nasal bridge, short nose with anteverted nostrils, large philtrum, broad, prominent lower lip, and (4) poly(syn)dactyly of feet.  相似文献

Summary Two patients with trisomy 11p15 and features of Beckwith-Wiedemann syndrome are reported. The first is a female infant with gigantism, macroglossia, abdominal hypotonia with umbilical hernia, moderate mental retardation, malformative uropathy, and atrial septal defect. Trisomy 11p15 was due to de novo duplication. The second patient was a stillborn (32–33 weeks pregnancy) with an abnormal tongue, posterior diaphragmatic eventration, inner organ congestion mainly of the adrenals. Trisomy 11p15 was due to a t(4;11)(q33;p14)pat. The association of trisomy 11p15 and Beckwith-Wiedemann syndrome is discussed with regard to cytogenetic data and the gene content of 11p, notably the genes coding for insulin and predisposition to Wilms tumour.  相似文献

The article brings to light the very first case of trisomy 20p resulting from a maternal pericentric inversion in a 2 1/2-year old boy. The study outlines the characteristic clinical features of the syndrome, i.e. round face, upslanting palpebral fissures, microretrognathia, normal growth, slight psycho-motor retardation and congenital heart defects. The association of the der(20) inv(20) (p112q133) mat and brachymesophalangy of index ("Mohr-Wriedt" type of brachydactyly) enables the authors to suggest that chromosome 20 may be held responsible for this particular malformation.  相似文献

We describe the 11th case of a de novo partial trisomy of the long arm of chromosome 4, with the extra segment spanning from 4q27 to 4q35. The aberration resulted from an unbalanced translocation of material from 4q to the short arm of chromosome 7, as evident from fluorescent in situ hybridization. Microsatellite analysis revealed the extra material to originate from the father. The karyotype was interpreted as 46,XX,der(7)t(4;7)(q27;p22). The patient is a 13-year-old girl with severe mental retardation, growth retardation, hearing impairment as well as minor foot, thumb and facial anomalies. Although the extent of the aberration varies between the reported patients, there are nevertheless features in common, suggestive of a trisomy 4q syndrome. The clinical findings most frequently reported are: mental retardation, seizures, microcephaly, hearing impairment and growth retardation, as well as epicanthic folds, high/broad/depressed nasal bridge, malformed ears, tooth and thumb anomalies. Almost the entire long arm of chromosome 4, except band q11, has been involved in trisomies/duplications, but 4q27 and 4q31 seem to be preferentially engaged in the trisomy 4q syndrome.  相似文献

A previously reported male infant having died at 4 months, was considered trisomic Cp, his mother being carrier of balanced translocation t(Cp-;Bq +). Reexamination of the chromosome complement after R-banding showed the translocation to be t(4;10)(q35;p11). The propositus was therefore trisomic 10p. The essential clinical features were: a small birth weight and a short birth length; hypotonia; psychomotor retardation; dolichocephalia; a high and bulky forehead; narrow lips; large, lowset ears with a posterior rotation; a small chin; bone and joint anomalies; dextrocardia.  相似文献

We report on a 52-year old Caucasian woman exhibiting signs of Woodhouse - Sakati syndrome and review the clinical signs and symptoms in patients reported so far. The syndrome is characterized by alopecia, mental retardation, hypogonadism, diabetes mellitus, hearing impairment, ECG changes, and by autosomal recessive inheritance. We also propose that the limited mobility of the upper extremities is one of the features of the syndrome.  相似文献

We report an eleven years old boy and his fourteen years old brother who both have trisomy 9p syndrome. Their cytogenetic analysis using GTL-banding showed 46,XY,der(22)add(22)(p11) karyotype. Cytogenetic analysis of their mother and sister revealed a karyogram designated as 46,XX,t(9;22) (9pter-->9p12::22p11-->22qter). With the help of FISH technique, the derivative chromosome in the proband was further confirmed to be a translocation chromosome 22 carrying the aforementioned segments from chromosome 9 which originated from a segregation event of a mother's balanced translocation. Regarding clinical aspects of our cases, both showed similar findings of 9p trisomy syndrome but low frontal hairline, circular placement of the hair around the face and scarce, inverted eyebrows, findings not previously mentioned in the literature. We conclude that these new clinical findings could be used in the clinical diagnosis of the 9p trisomy syndrome along with the other well-documented symptoms.  相似文献

Even though the molecular mechanisms underlying the Down syndrome (DS) phenotypes remain obscure, the characterization of the genes and conserved non-genic sequences of HSA21 together with large-scale gene expression studies in DS tissues are enhancing our understanding of this complex disorder. Also, mouse models of DS provide invaluable tools to correlate genes or chromosome segments to specific phenotypes. Here we discuss the possible contribution of HSA21 genes to DS and data from global gene expression studies of trisomic samples.  相似文献

We report on a preterm neonate with a deletion of the distal long arm of chromosome 13q32.1 and partial trisomy of the short arm of chromosome 10p12.33. The patient has intrauterine growth retardation, microphthalmia, macrocephaly, holoprosencephaly, patent ductus arteriosus, aortic isthmus hypoplasia, right renal agenesis, imperforate anus, ambiguous genitalia, pleural effusion and vertebral anomaly. Analysis using an oligonucleotide microarray (U-array Cyto6000 array platform (Human Genome build: hg 18) indicated that there was a partial trisomy of chromosome 10(19.5 Mb gain) involving 298 oligonucleotides from 10pter to 10p12.33, and a partial monosomy of chromosome 13(18.3 Mb deleted) involving 313 oligonucleotides from 13q32.1 to 13qter. This is the first report of a patient with partial trisomy 10p12.33 and partial monosomy 13q32.1.  相似文献

Summary We describe the phenotype of a child having a recombinant chromosome 3 with a duplication 3q13.2 q25 derived from a paternal inv ins(3)(p25.3q25q13.2). A review of 27 reported cases of intrachromosomal insertions has revealed that for a carrier of intrachromosomal insertion the risk of a child with an unbalanced karyotype is 15%. This risk may be higher for particular insertions. The recombinant chromosome can have a duplication or a deletion of different segments depending on whether the insertion is direct or inverted, paracentric or pericentric, and whether there is meiotic crossing over in the inserted or the interstitial non-inserted segment. Several of the insertions have been difficult to interpret and some of them have been mistaken for paracentric inversions. Caution is therefore indicated in interpreting parental karyotypes of a child with a deletion or a duplication, particularly if it is interstitial. This is because, whereas a risk of recurrence of a child with an unbalanced karyotype is low in de novo cases and for carriers of paracentric inversions, it is high for carriers of insertions.  相似文献

An 18-year-old girl had a cyst excised from the left buttock in 1988. The cyst was diagnosed to be a cutaneous ciliated cyst, since histologic examination using special stains demonstrated its lining to be similar to fallopian tube epithelium. Only 20 such cases have been published to date, and this report is probably the first case in the plastic surgical literature, to the best of our knowledge.  相似文献
