Two cores from Sandao Swamp and 18 surface samples from different vegetational zones and different parts of Sandao Swamp were used to reconstruct the history of vegetation and environment at west foot of Changbei Mountain, Northeast China. Pollen influx and R-value as well as P-value were used to interpret the pollen data besides the pollen percentage. The history of this area can be divided into four stages as follows: 1. Stage Ⅰ(10,300–10,000 yrs. B. P.): The shallow lake was surrounded by fir-spruce woodland. The climate was cold and humid. 2. Stage Ⅱ(10,000–9,000 yrs. BP): The birch forest replaced fir-spruce woodland. Instead of the shallow lake, low level bog consisted of sedge and intermediate bog composed of larchmoss were formed and spreaded gradually. The climate became a little warmer. 3. Stage Ⅲ(9,000–4,000 yrs. BP): The deciduous forest began to flourish with mixed pine deciduous forest existing at the uppermost of the surrounding mountains. The bog of larch-moss was prosperous. The climate was warm. 4. StageⅣ (4,000–0 yrs. BP): Vegetation was composed of mixed pine-deciduous forest and pine-boreal forest. The bog developed into moor of larch- peat moss at the beginning, then evolved into intermediate bog of sedge moss. The climate was cool and humid.  相似文献

Pollen records of Holocene sediment cores from the Costa Rican Cordillera de Talamanca (La Chonta bog, 2310 m and La Trinidad bog, 2700 m) show the postglacial development of the montane oak forest zone from ca. 9500 to 1500 yr BP. During the early Holocene (ca. 9500–700 yr BP), alder vegetation covered the La Chonta and La Trinidad bogs and their adjacent hills. The upper forest line is inferred to be at 2800–3000 m elevation. A Podocarpus-Quercus forest characterised the middle Holocene (ca. 7000–4500 yr BP). The upper forest line is located at >3000 m reaching the present-day altitudinal distribution. A Quercus forest characterised the late Holocene (ca. 4500–1500 yr BP). Compared to modern conditions, the early Holocene has similar average temperatures, but the moisture level was probably higher. Pollen evidence for the late Holocene indicates drier environmental conditions than today. In order to improve the paleoecological interpretation, we described the local vegetation and used moss samples as pollen traps at both montane bogs along strong soil moisture gradients.The Netherlands Centre for Geo-ecological Research, ICG  相似文献

Paleotemperatures of the last 10,000 years at 3,100 m elevation on La Malinche volcano (Mexico) were reconstructed by treating pollen analytic data by Ohngemach and Straka with numerical techniques. Pollen data from 104 modern and 97 fossil samples were analyzed in order to: (1) calibrate transfer functions linking modern pollen data to climate and vegetation data from available maps (and cross-validate the predictive model of temperature on modern data sets), and (2) reconstruct paleotemperature for the last 10,000 years from fossil pollen data. A paleotemperature curve was obtained, that ranges between 7°C in the glacial period and 12.5°C at 8,000 years BP. It matches glacial stratigraphy. Temperature is described as follows: Section S1 (from the deposit's bottom to 8,500 years BP) from 7 to 8°C. S2 from 9.0 to 11°C. S3 (around 8,000 years BP) 11.5–12.5°C. S4 from 12 to 9°C. S5 (2,700 years BP) has poor pollen concentration and estimates are unreliable. S6 from 9 to 5.5°C. S7 (around 1,550 years BP) from 6.5 to 7.5°C; S8 (ending 1.000 years BP), from 7.5 to 9.5°C and includes anthropogenic influences. S6 is given a new interpretation: open vegetation with low local pollen production and greater influence of long distance components.  相似文献

The microbial community structures of gas hydrate-bearing (Core 9) and non-hydrate-bearing (Core 1) marine sediments were investigated at Mississippi Canyon (MC) 118 in the Gulf of Mexico. Quantification by quantitative competitive (QC)-PCR showed that bacterial abundance was 2–3 orders of magnitude higher than archaeal abundance in these cores. Sulfate-reducing bacteria (SRB) were present at 103–104 dsrAB gene copies/g in both cores; methanogens or anaerobic methanotrophs were only present in Core 9 (102–105 mcrA gene copies/g). Denaturing gradient gel electrophoresis (DGGE) showed distinct patterns of bacterial community structure between Core 9 and Core 1 with ε-Proteobacteria predominating in the former and γ-Proteobacteria in the latter. Clone libraries were successfully constructed for both Archaea and Bacteria using functional genes (mcrA and dsrAB, respectively). The mcrA gene was present in Core 9, suggesting enhanced abundance or activity of methanogens or methane-oxidizing archaea in the hydrate-impacted sediment. The mcrA gene sequences were dominated by group c-d and group e. The majority (80%) of the dsrAB gene sequences fell into Syntrophobacteraceae-related group. This study indicates that microbial community structures are considerably different between the hydrate-bearing and non-hydrate-bearing sediment at MC 118. Our study is among the initial steps toward a comprehensive and long-term monitoring of microbial dynamics associated with gas hydrates in the Gulf of Mexico.  相似文献

The lithostratigraphy, calcareous nannofossil biostratigraphy, carbon‐ and oxygen‐isotope stratigraphy and gamma‐ray profile are presented for the Skælskør‐1 core, eastern Denmark. The correlation of carbon isotopes to Gubbio (Italy) and ODP Site 762C (Indian Ocean) provides the chronostratigrahical framework of the core through a tie to magnetostratigraphy. Two new carbon‐isotope excursions are defined for the uppermost Maastrichtian of the core and prove useful for long‐distance correlation. Twenty stratigraphic tie‐points are used for correlation of the upper Campanian–Maastrichtian interval by combining carbon‐isotope and gamma‐ray variations. Significant dissimilarities in the gamma‐ray profiles of the Danish Basin cores preclude the sole use of this tool for basin‐scale correlations. Bulk oxygen‐isotopes and semi‐quantitative abundance changes in the warm‐water calcareous nannofossil Watznaueria barnesiae and the cool‐water Kamptnerius magnificus highlight the following past changes in sea‐surface temperatures (SSTs): relatively warm late Campanian SSTs, cooling across the Campanian–Maastrichtian boundary and through the early Maastrichtian, warming across the early–late Maastrichtian transition, cooling in the late Maastrichtian, intense warming in the latest Maastrichtian chron C29r, followed by a very short episode of cooling immediately before the Cretaceous–Palaeogene boundary. The late Campanian–Maastrichtian evolution in sea water temperatures inferred from the Danish Basin is similar to that delineated at tropical latitude oceanic sites.  相似文献

深涌黄地峒遗址是香港首次发现的旧石器时代晚期遗址。初步调查、试掘后认为,这是一处打制石器加工场,其范围之大(南北长约300m、东西宽约150m)和石制品密度之高(试掘10m2,出土及采集石器3261件)实属罕见。出土石器种类比较丰富,旧石器加工技术大部分在此都能见到。该遗址的进一步发掘和研究,对了解和解决岭南以及中国南方地区旧石器文化发展的问题将有大帮助。  相似文献

在山东半岛南部近岸海域QDZ03孔16.2m的沉积记录中,通过有孔虫和介形类化石群落的定量分析,探讨了研究区晚第四纪氧同位素(MIS)4期以来古沉积环境演变。在距今6万年前后开始的黄海海退期(相当于MIS4期),发育了有多次沉积间断的第1层(孔深16.2~12.0m)陆相地层。进入玉木亚间冰期(相当于MIS3)后,由于海平面的震荡上升,发育了第2层—第5层的滨岸弱海相—陆相沉积层,其中第5层上部可能包含部分MIS2期的产物,而MIS2期绝大部分沉积地层缺失。在距今12 000—11 000年前,海水逐渐由黄海入侵到青岛地区,发育了第6层下段(孔深9.1—8.6m)的海陆过渡相沉积层;在全新世最大洪泛面MFS来临之前(距今约11.0—9.0ka期间),海平面进一步上升,钻孔中发育了第6层中段(孔深8.6—7.7m)的滨岸相沉积层。随着距今6 000年前南黄海最大海泛面出现,后降至现今水平,并基本保持稳定状态,在黄河、近岸短源河流以及海岸带基岩侵蚀物等物质联合贡献下完成了南黄海中部泥质沉积体在近岸的延伸(7.7m以上),其中顶部约4.8m以上粒度粗化及与之相关的较多含量胶结壳有孔虫化石的出现,可能与约3 000—2 000年以来海岸带地区人类活动的加剧有关。  相似文献

Living specimens of Distephanus speculum (Silicoflagellata) were collected in waters of <150 m depth in the Pacific Sector of the Southern Ocean (57°31.6′S, 150°02.9′E), South of Tasman Island, and a biometric study has been conducted. The skeleton of D. speculum has a simple morphology, which can be readily expressed quantitatively. Using a new methodology, repeated measurements were obtained and converted to numerical indices. The circumference of the basal rings was the most useful character for subdivision into groups, and using this parameter we recognized two populations in the 620 studied specimens: (1) 500 individuals were placed in Group A, with a basal ring circumference of 53 to 67 µm, and a difference in length of spine axes from 2 to 6 μm; and (2) 120 individuals were placed in Group B (basal ring circumference 80 to 105 µm, difference in length of spine axes 3 to 6 µm). The circumference of the basal ring in Group B is approximately 10 µm smaller than in Distephanus speculum giganteus [Bukry, D., 1979. Environmental conditions and productivity changes in the southeastern Okhotsk Sea have been reconstructed for the last 20 ka using planktonic and benthic foraminiferal oxygen isotope records and calcium carbonate, organic carbon and opal content data from two sediment cores. Species variability in benthic foraminiferal and diatom assemblages provides additional palaeoceanographic evidence. AMS radiocarbon dating of the sediments and oxygen isotope stratigraphy serve as the basis for the age models of the cores for the last 20 14C kyr and for correlation between environmental variations in the Okhotsk Sea, and regional and global climate changes. Benthic foraminiferal assemblages in the two cores (depth 1590 and 1175 m) varied with time, so that we could recognise seven zones with different species composition. Changes in the benthic foraminiferal assemblages parallel major environmental and productivity variations. During the last glaciation, fluxes of organic matter to the sea floor showed strong seasonal variations, indicated by the presence of abundant A. weddellensis and infaunal Uvigerina spp. Benthic foraminiferal assemblages changed with warming at 12.5–11 and 10–8 14C kyr BP, when productivity blooms and high organic fluxes were coeval with global meltwater pulses 1A and 1B. Younger Dryas cooling caused a decline in productivity (11–10 kyr BP) affecting the benthic faunal community. Subsequent warming triggered intensive diatom production, opal accumulation and a strong oxygen deficiency, causing significant changes in benthic fauna assemblages from 5.26–4.4 kyr BP to present time.  相似文献

A 100-m-thick Paleocene sequence of mainly pelagic sediments at ODP Site 1121, on the eastern flanks of the Campbell Plateau, contains few to common radiolarians of relatively low diversity in the lower 40 m (Early to early Late Paleocene) and abundant, diverse radiolarian assemblages in the upper 60 m (mid-Late Paleocene). The 150 taxa recorded from the entire Paleocene interval are thought to under-represent the actual species diversity by at least one half as many morphotypes have not been differentiated below the level of genus. Assemblages in the lower 40 m are similar to those described from onland New Zealand and DSDP Site 208 (northern Lord Howe Rise); they are correlated with South Pacific radiolarian zones RP4 and RP5. Assemblages in the upper 60 m differ from other known Late Paleocene assemblages in the great abundance of plagiacanthids and cycladophorids. Similarities are noted with later Cenozoic cool-water assemblages. This upper interval is correlated with South Pacific zone RP6, as revised herein, based on comparison with faunas from Site 208 and Marlborough, New Zealand. The interval is also correlated with the upper part of North Atlantic zone RP6 (RP6b–c) based on the presence of Aspis velutochlamydosaurus, Plectodiscus circularis and Pterocodon poculum. Other species, such as Buryella tetradica and Buryella pentadica, are valuable for local correlation but exhibit considerable diachroneity between the Pacific, Indian and Atlantic Oceans. An age model for the Paleocene interval at Site 1121, based on well-constrained nannofossil and radiolarian datums, indicates that the rate of compacted sediment accumulation doubles from 15 to 30 mm/ka at the RP5/RP6 zonal boundary. In large part this is due to a sudden and pronounced increase in accumulation rates for all siliceous fossils; radiolarians and larger diatoms increase from <100 to >10 000 specimens/cm2/ka. This apparent increase in biosiliceous productivity is age-equivalent to a mid-Paleocene cooling event (57–59 Ma) identified from global stable isotope records that is associated with the heaviest δ13C values for the entire Cenozoic.  相似文献

Faunal analyses of planktonic foraminifera and upper-water temperature reconstructions with the modern analog technique are studied and compared to the magnetic susceptibility and gamma ray logs of ODP Core 999A (western Caribbean) for the past 560 kyr in order to explore changes in paleoceanographic conditions in the western Caribbean Sea. Long-term trends in the percentage abundance of planktonic foraminifera in ODP Core 999A suggest two hydrographic scenarios: before and after 480 ka. High percentage abundances of Neogloboquadrina pachyderma and Globorotalia inflata, low abundances of Globorotalia menardii and Globorotalia truncatulinoides, low diversity, and sea-surface temperatures (SST) under 24 °C are typical characteristics occurring from 480 to 560 ka. These characteristics suggest a “shallow” well-oxygenated upper thermocline and the influx of nutrients by either seasonal upwelling plumes and/or eddy-mediated entrainment. The second scenario occurred after 480 ka, and it is characterized by high and fluctuating percentage abundances of Neogloboquadrina dutertrei, G. truncatulinoides, G. menardii, Globigerinita glutinata, Globigerinella siphonifera, and Globigerinoides ruber; a declining trend in diversity; and large SSTs. These characteristics suggest a steady change from conditions characterized by a “shallow” thermocline and chlorophyll maximum to conditions characterized by a “deep” thermocline (mainly during glacial stages) and by more oligotrophic conditions. The influence of the subtropical North Atlantic on the upper thermocline was apparently larger during glacial stages, thus favoring a deepening of the thermocline, an increase in sea-surface salinity, and a dramatic reduction of nutrients in the Guajira upwelling system. During interglacial stages, the influx of nutrients from the Magdalena River is stronger, thus resulting in a deep chlorophyll maximum and a fresher upper ocean. The eddy entrainment of nutrients is the probable mechanism responsible of transport from the Guajira upwelling and Magdalena River plumes into ODP 999A site.  相似文献

对渤海中央盆地B92-3孔(芯长420cm)、B92-1孔(芯长420cm)以及莱州湾B92-2孔(芯长330cm)柱状样进行了介形类属种、丰度和分异度分析,并将B92-3孔和B92-1孔的介形类划分出6个组合带。根据渤、黄海地区不同沉积环境中现代介形类的分布,将剖面中的介形类分成滨岸-河口区的Sinocytheridea组合和近岸区的Munseyella组合。按照地层14C年代以及剖面中Sinocytheridea组合分子和Munseyella组合分子的相对丰度变化,讨论了渤海晚冰期后期以来的古环境演化历史:晚冰期为河流、湖沼环境;大约10000aB.P.开始海侵,早全新世属滨岸-河口沉积;8700aB.P.前后开始水深加大,盐度提高;2400aBP以后水深逐渐降低。  相似文献

Live (i.e. rose Bengal stained) benthic foraminiferal assemblages in the 0–1 cm layer of multiple core samples were examined at three contrasting sites in the northeast Atlantic as part of the Natural Environment Research Council Deep Ocean Benthic Boundary Layer (BENBO) Thematic Programme. Sites A (3600 m water depth) and C (1900 m) were located in the Rockall Trough while Site B (1100 m) was in the Hatton–Rockall Basin. Wet-sorting sediment residues (>125 m fraction) revealed more abundant (98–190 individuals/10 cm2) and diverse (71–99 species /27 cm2) assemblages than found previously in studies employing dry-sorting techniques. At all three sites, the assemblages were numerically dominated by delicate soft-bodied and agglutinated species, most of which are undescribed. Calcareous taxa formed a relatively small proportion of the assemblages (23% of individuals at Site B, 13% at Site C and 7% at Site A). Conversely, the agglutinated hormosinaceans (mainly Reophax species) became more prominent with increasing depth and accounted for 8% of the assemblage at Site B, 33% at Site C and 51% at Site A. Foraminifera represented 67–81% of the fauna in the samples and greatly outnumbered the metazoans. The assemblage at Site A has similarities with abyssal assemblages, while those at Sites B and C contain characteristic bathyal species. At Site B, Uvigerina peregrina and Melonis barleeanum are abundant, suggesting that there are high organic carbon inputs at this site. Reduced species diversity was observed at Site A following the spring phytodetritus bloom due to the presence of large numbers of juvenile Hoeglundina elegans, although it is not clear whether this species is responding to phytodetritus inputs.  相似文献

A new group of anaerobic thermophilic bacteria was isolated from enrichment cultures obtained from deep sea sediments of Peru Margin collected during Leg 201 of the Ocean Drilling Program. A total of ten isolates were obtained from cores of 1–2 m below seafloor (mbsf) incubated at 60°C: three isolates came from the sediment 426 m below sea level with a surface temperature of 9°C (Site 1227), one from 252 m below sea level with a temperature of 12°C (Site 1228), and six isolates under sulfate-reducing condition from the lower slope of the Peru Trench (Site 1230). Strain JW/IW-1228P from the Site 1228 and strain JW/YJL-1230-7/2 from the Site 1230 were chosen as representatives of the two identified clades. Based on the 16S rDNA sequence analysis, these isolates represent a novel group with Thermovenabulum and Caldanaerobacter as their closest relatives. The temperature range for growth was 52–76°C with an optimum at around 68°C for JW/IW-1228P and 43–76°C with an optimum at around 64°C for JW/YJL-1230-7/2. The pH25C range for growth was from 6.3 to 9.3 with an optimum at 7.5 for JW/IW-1228P and from 5 to 9.5 with an optimum at 7.9–8.4 for JW/YJL-1230-7/2. The salinity range for growth was from 0% to 6% (w/v) for JW/IW-1228P and from 0% to 4.5% (w/v) for JW/YJL-1230-7/2. The G+C content of the DNA was 50 mol% for both JW/IW-1228P and JW/YJL-1230-7/2. DNA–DNA hybridization yielded 52% similarity between the two strains. According to 16S rRNA gene sequence analysis, the isolates are located within the family, Thermoanaerobacteriaceae. Based on their morphological and physiological properties and phylogenetic analysis, it is proposed that strain JW/IW-1228PT is placed into a novel taxa, Thermosediminibacter oceani, gen. nov., sp. nov. (DSM 16646T=ATCC BAA-1034T), and JW/YJL-1230-7/2T into Thermosediminibacter litoriperuensis sp. nov. (DSM 16647T =ATCC BAA-1035T).An erratum to this article can be found at  相似文献

The analysis of 8 selected cores through fringing reefs in New Caledonia reveals that accretion in the Holocene has been less than 6 m. The cores exhibit three main facies: branching coral (Acropora, dominantly), massive coral heads (Porites, mainly) and coral sand/ rubble, principally made up of acroporid fragments. Subordinate facies are composed of coralline algae and alcyonarian spiculite. The initiation of growth varies according to location. The southern reefs (i.e. early settled reefs) generally began to grow first, prior to 5000 y BP. The northern structures (i.e. more recently settled reefs) are younger, occurring after 4200 y BP. This retardation could be ascribed to differences in local physical conditions (nature of substrate, wave energy). Vertical accretion rates were generally higher in areas of lower energy (3.25–6.4 mm·y-1) versus those exposed to higher energy conditions (1.4–3.1 mm·y-1). Vertical development through time was accompanied by changes in composition of biological assemblages which reflect changes in hydrodynamics. The basal Acropora-dominated facies was replaced upwards by a Porites-dominated framework. The New Caledonian fringing reefs reached the sea surface generally between 5000 and 2500 y BP after the stabilization of sea level. Hence all of these reefs can be classified as catch-up reefs.  相似文献

This paper discusses the evolution of the family Asteroarchaediscidae, occurring in Eurasia, North America, and North Africa and used in Viséan and Serpukhovian stratigraphy. In particular, the species composition of the euryfacial genus Neoarchaediscus is very important because species of this genus are used for biostratigraphy of the Viséan–Serpukhovian boundary beds and correlation of deep- and shallow-water facies. Members of the family Asteroarchaediscidae are present in the Verkhnyaya Kardailovka Section, a candidate for the global stratotype of the Serpukhovian Stage base.  相似文献

The chorion surface in the eggs of the annual fishes Cynolebias melanotaenia and C. ladigesi contains an elaborate, three-dimensional species-specific pattern. Two concentric layers form the chorion. The pattern resides in the outer layer, the secondary envelope. It consists of closely packed tubules about 250 Å in diameter. A coat of electron dense “fuzzy” material increases this to 475 Å. The inner layer, the primary envelope, of uniformly low electron density possesses no obvious substructure. Oogenesis is divided into six stages. The oocyte increases in size from 10–20 μm in Stage 1 to 250 μm in Stage 3, 600 μm in Stage 4, and attains maximal size of 900 μm by Stage 6. Massive inclusions of protein and lipid yolk accumulate during Stages 4 and 5. Zone 1, one of the three zones of the primary envelope, first appears late in Stage 2. During Stage 3, Zone 1 is completed and Zone 2 appears between the oocyte surface and Zone 1. The oocyte cytoplasm increases in complexity. Material similar to Zone 1 (light, fibrillar) and Zone 2 (dark, compact) is present in the RER, Golgi, derivative vesicles, and apical pits. Micropyle formation also commences. The oocyte secretes Zone 3 during Stage 4 as thin filaments which consolidate into a highly ordered, transitional structure composed of tangentially oriented bundles of interwoven filaments. These partially fuse during Stage 5 except for fenestrations through which oocyte and follicle cell microvilli pass. Complete fusion during Stage 6 produces a continuous layer. Follicle cells retain an unspecialized structure from Stages 1 through 4. Secondary envelope material accumulates in the RER of the follicle cells during Stage 5. The subfossil remains of chironomids were analyzed from four short (35–50 cm) sediment cores in eutrophicated Lake Vanajavesi, southern Finland. The chironomid analysis was found to be a useful palaeolimnological technique for indicating the following aspects: (1) The pollution history of the lake during the last 150 years. A succession from an oligotrophic Micropsectra-Monodiamesa community, through eutrophic Chironomus communities, to the disappearance of the chironomid fauna, was detected. (2) The bottom dynamic conditions at the sampling site. (3) The water level changes of the lake. (4) The significance of bioturbation in the core chronology and stratigraphy. The disappearance of the chironomid remains in the cores was correlated with the occurrence of annually laminated sediment.The most important factor disturbing the interpretation of the cores was the redeposition of head capsules by erosion and transportation. Detailed identification of the remains is necessary to avoid the misinterpretations caused by redeposition. Bioturbation reduces the time resolution of the cores. It is necessary to use dating methods which take the effect of bioturbation into account.  相似文献

The concentration of trace metals (Co, Cr, Zn, Cu, and Pb), major elements (Al, Mn, Fe, Ca, Mg, and K), along with the percentage of sediment components (sand, silt, clay, and organic carbon), was determined in three sediment cores, collected from intertidal regions of the Zuari estuary (ZA and ZR) and Cumbharjua canal (CB). The Cores CB and ZR, collected from the upper middle estuarine environment, showed higher values of finer fractions and total organic carbon as well as metals (except of Ca) than Core ZA, which was sampled from the lower estuarine environment. The concentration of trace metals including Mn and Fe was found to be largely dependent on the proximity to mining areas, with Core ZR and Core CB representing the highest metal concentrations (Mn, Fe, Cr, and Zn). Absence of a significant early diagenetic remobilization might have preserved the metal loadings due to mining and industrial activities in Cores ZR and CB. In Core ZA, all the elements except Cu showed significant enrichment in the upper portion. Enrichment factor computed in all the cores was found to be above 2 for all the studied metals except Zn, which suggests a high degree of metal contamination. All these observations indicate that the present study area is under the strong influence of anthropogenic activities, especially in recent years.  相似文献
