The presence and time-course of -adrenoceptor density in cultured explants of neocortex obtained from 6-day-old rat pups were investigated using a [125I]ICYP binding assay. A delayed, but more pronounced, increase in the receptor expression was observed as compared to the situation previously described in vivo. These changes only occurred for the 1-subtype of the receptor, whereas the 2-subtype binding remained constant up to 3 weeks in vitro. The delay of 1-adrenoceptor expression may be due to the incomplete presence of the proper maturational input, and the late enhancement of receptor expression to upregulation related to the absence in vitro of noradrenergic input. Decreased -adrenoceptor levels could be induced by chronic treatment of the -agonist isoproterenol (1 M) introduced either for 3 or 13 days. Again, changes in density were found only for the 1-adrenoceptor binding sites. There is no reduction of receptor density following return to control conditions for 10 days after a 3-day treatment with isoproterenol, demonstrating the ability of this model to attain its final receptor density notwithstanding the developmental insult.Special issue dedicated to Dr. Robert Balázs  相似文献

Summary We compared the ability of murine lymphokine-activated killer (LAK) cells grown in either a serum-supplemented standard medium (MEM plus fetal calf serum) or a serum-free medium (AIM-V) to lyse a range of tumour targets. LAK cells grown in either of the media killed a cultured murine tumour line (YAC-1 lymphoma) well and spared syngeneic self cells (concanavalin-A-stimulated splenocytes). However, a striking difference was noted in the ability of LAK cells grown in MEM plus fetal calf serum (as opposed to AIM-V) to kill modified self cells (trinitrophenol-modified concanavalin A blasts); LAK cells grown in the former always killed modified self cells better than those grown in the latter. This pattern held under a broad range of experimental manipulations and was found to be related to a relative increase in CD3-bearing LAK cells grown in the standard medium. These data suggest that the two media cannot be used interchangeably. This conclusion may have clinical implications for the use of LAK cells, as animal studies have been done using LAK cells generated in serum-containing medium and clinical studies have used LAK cells generated in serum-free medium.  相似文献

Role of protein kinase C (PKC) isotypes in the regulation of neutrophil function are not clearly known. In the present study we purified the -PKC and -PKC isotypes from human neutrophil. Both the isotypes are immunoreactive only to their respective antibodies. -PKC was further confirmed by RT-PCR using specific primer. Co-factor requirements for both the kinases were found to be different when DG and ceramide were used as second messenger. Selective substrate specificities were determined for both and -PKC using isotype specific pseudosubstrates viz., [Ser25]PKC [19-31] and [Ser119]PKC[113-130] respectively. Endogenous protein phosphorylation by purified -PKC and -PKC showed their functional differences in neutrophil. -PKC phosphorylated 13, 15, 19, 33, 36, 47, 80 and 92 kDa proteins and -PKC phosphorylated 19, 22, 42, 47, 75 and 87 kDa proteins, only exception was the phosphorylation of 47 kDa protein which had been phosphorylated by both the kinases. Differences in phosphorylation between -PKC and -PKC clearly indicate the selective role for these PKC isotypes in the activation sequences of neutrophil.  相似文献

In most individuals two HLA-DR genes are expressed from each chromosome. One of these genes encodes one of the classical DR specificities, while the other encodes either of the supertypic DRw52/DRw53 specificities. In addition to these genes usually one or two DR pseudogenes are present. In contrast, the DRw8 chromosomal region only contains a single DR gene. To determine the relationship of this single gene to the multiple DR genes of other DR specificities, comparisons of Southern genomic blots were carried out. In this analysis genomic clones for each individual DR chain locus were included. The DR w8 gene was indistinguishable from the DR III gene of DR3 cells (encoding DRw52), suggesting that it is closely related to the latter gene. The functional implications of this finding are discussed.  相似文献

Apparently factual disagreement on the level(s) at which selection operates often results from different interpretations of the term selection. Attempts to resolve terminological problems must come to grips with a dilemma: a narrow interpretation of selection may lead to a restricted view on evolution; a broader, less precise, definition may wrongly suggest that selection is the centre of a unified, integrated theory of evolution. Summary Two specific -N-acetylglucosaminyltransferases involved in the branching and elongation of mucin oligosaccharide chains, namely, a 1,6 N-acetylglucosaminylsaminyltransferase that transfers N-acetylglucosamine from UDP-N-acetylglucosamine to Gal3GalNAc-Mucin to yield Gal3(GlcNAc6)GalNAc-Mucin and a 3-N-acetylglucosaminyl transferase that transfers N-acetylglucosamine from UDP-N-acetylglucosamine to Gal3(GlcNAC6)GalNAc-mucin to yield GlcNAc3Gal3 (GlcNAc6)GalNAc-Mucin were purified from the microsomal fraction of swine trachea epithelium. The 1,6-N-acetylglucosaminyltransferase was purified about 21,800-fold by procedures which included affinity chromatography on DEAE columns containing bound asialo Cowper's gland mucin glycoprotein with Gal1,3GalNAc side chains. The apparent molecular weight estimated by gel filtration was found to be about 60 Kd. The purified enzyme showed a high specificity for Gal1,3GalNAc chains and the most active substrates were mucin glycoproteins containing these chains. The apparent Km of the 6-glucosaminyltrans-ferase for Cowper's gland mucin glycoprotein containing Gal1,3GalNAc chains was 0.53 µM; for UDP-N-acetylglucosamine, 12 µM; and for Gal 1,3GalNAc NO2ø, 4 mM. The activity of the 6-glucosaminyltransferase was dependent on the extent of glycosylation of the Gal3GalNAc chains in Cowper's gland mucin glycoprotein.The best substrate for the partially purified 3-Glucosaminyltransferase was Cowper's gland mucin glycoprotein containing Gal1,3(GlcNAc6)GalNAc side chains. This enzyme showed little or no activity with intact sialylated Cowper's gland mucin glycoprotein or derivatives of this glycoprotein containing GalNAc or Gal1,3GalNAc side chains.The radioactive oligosaccharides formed by these enzymes in large scale reaction mixtures were released from the mucin glycoproteins by treatment with alkaline borohydride, isolated by gel filtration on Bio-Gel P-6 and characterized by methylation analysis and sequential digestion with exoglycosidases. The oligosaccharide products formed by the 6- and 3-glucosaminyltransferases were shown to be Gal3(GlcNAC6) GalNAc and GlcNAc3 Gal3(GlcNAC6)GalNAc respectively.Taken collectively, these results demonstrate that swine trachea epithelium contains two specific N-acetylglucosaminyltransferases which catalyze the initial branching and elongation reactions involved in the synthesis of O-linked oligosaccharide chains in respiratory mucin glycoproteins. The first enzyme a 6-glucosaminyltransferase converts Gal3GalNAc chains in mucin glycoproteins to Gal3(GlcNAc6)GalNAc chains. This product is the substrate for a second 3-glucosaminyltransferase which converts the Gal3(GlcNAc6)GalNAc chains to GlcNAc3Gal(GlcNAc6)GalNAc chains in the glycoprotein. Of 49 microbial strains screened for their capabilities to transform ginsenoside Rb1, Rhizopus stolonifer and Curvularia lunata produced four key metabolites: 3-O-[-d-glucopyranosyl-(1,2)--d-glucopyranosyl]- 20-O-[-d-glucopyranosyl]-3,12, 20(S)-trihydroxydammar-24-ene (1), 3-O-[-d-glucopyranosyl-(1,2)--d- glucopyranosyl]-20-O-[-d-glucopyranosyl]-3,12, 20(S)-trihydroxydammar-24-ol (2), 3-O-[-d-gluco- pyranosyl-(1,2)--d-glucopyranosyl]-3, 12, 20(S)-trihydroxydammar-24-ene (3), and 3-O--d-glucopyranosyl-3, 12, 20(S)-trihydroxydammar-24-ene (4), identified by TOF-MS, 1H- and 13C-NMR spectral data. Metabolites 1, 3 and 4 were from the incubation with R. stolonifer, and 1 and 2 from the incubation with C. lunata. Compound 2 was identified as a new compound.  相似文献

Summary Ground leaf litter was inoculated with the fungus Coriolus versicolor and incubated in respirometers for 6 days (fresh cultures) or 33 days (senescent cultures) before different number of Folsomia candida were added. Grazing by 5 animals stimulated O2 consumption in both series of cultures but 10, 15 or 20 animals inhibited microbial respiration. The stimulatory effect was less marked in the senescent cultures. Bacterial and fungal standing crops increased in fresh cultures during the course of the experiment but grazing by collembola increased bacterial and reduced fungal standing, crops in proportion to the grazing intensity. Microbial standing crops were not determined for senescent cultures. Microarthropod feeding activities can therefore exert a strong differential effect on fungal and bacterial populations which has not been previously recognised.  相似文献

Unravelling the factors that contribute to the formation and the stability of -sheet structure in peptides is a subject of great current interest. A -hairpin, the smallest -sheet motif, consists of two antiparallel hydrogen-bonded -strands linked by a loop region. We have performed a statistical analysis on protein -hairpins showing that the most abundant types of -hairpins, 2:2, 3:5 and 4:4, have characteristic patterns of 13C and 13C conformational shifts, as expected on the basis of their and angles. This fact strongly supports the potential value of 13C and 13C conformational shifts as a means to identify -hairpin motifs in peptides. Their usefulness was confirmed by analysing the patterns of 13C and 13C conformational shifts in 13 short peptides, 10–15 residues long, that adopt -hairpin structures in aqueous solution. Furthermore, we have investigated their potential as a method to quantify -hairpin populations in peptides.  相似文献

Zusammenfassung Harzkonservierte Fossilien ermöglichen bei Anwendung adäquater Methoden die morphologische Analyse der Feinmerkmale bis zur Auflösungsgrenze des Lichtmikroskops, Beobachtung in verschiedenen Ebenen und Richtungen, und somit konkrete Rückschlüsse auf die Wirkung und Bedeutung der Einzelelemente und des Gesamtgefüges.Eine so eingehende funktionsmorphologische Analyse mit Berücksichtigung der Positionsvariation (graduell verschiedene Gestaltung in gesetzmäßiger Abhängigkeit von der Lage innerhalb der Gesamtfeder) der Einzelelemente wie Abzweigungs-, Knick-, Neigungswinkel, Krümmung, Länge, Dicke, Querschnitt, Dichte, Differenzierungsgrad der verschiedenen Abschnitte von Rhachis, Rami, Radii inklusive Häkchen und Cirren wird erstmals für fossile Vogelfedern geliefert (hier als Abriß zu einer dokumentarisch und thematisch ausführlicheren Darstellung in Stuttgarter Beiträge zur Naturkunde).Diese Federn entstammen der untersten Unterkreide und sind damit nur relativ wenig jünger alsArchaeopteryx. Sie weisen extrem differenzierten Aufbau auf, der auf hohe flugtechnische und wärmeisolierende Leistungsfähigkeit schließen läßt.Die hier vorgelegten funktionsmorphologischen Ermittlungen an fossilen Körperkonturfedern mögen auch zu einer intensiveren Analyse der bis jetzt stark vernachlässigten Untersuchung ganz normaler Körperfedern rezenter Vögel anregen. Erst dann, nach umfassender Kenntnis ihrer Ausgestaltung innerhalb der verschiedensten rezenten Vogelgruppen, läßt sich überzeugend begründen, ob und wieweit die hier vorgelegten Federn dieses Unterkreide-Vogels noch ursprüngliche Elemente (Plesiomorphien) oder ihnen eigene Sonderbildungen (Autapomorphien) aufweisen; das gilt sowohl für morphologische wie für funktionelle Elemente der Gesamtstruktur.
Resin-preserved fossil bird's feathers from the Lowermost Cretaceous
Summary Parts of some feathers, originating from a single bird, were discovered in our collections of Lower Cretaceous amber from the Lebanon mountains — which, in general, contains the oldest terrestrial microfossils preserved with all morphological details.These contour feathers of the trunk, which are nearly as old as Archaeopteryx (Lowermost Cretaceous: Neocomian/Uppermost Jurassic: Kimmeridigian) were studied with magnifications of 500–900 in several levels by a special technique. (In normal fossils, i.e., impressions, the granulation of the sediment and the fossil's bulky carbon remainders cause a blurred image even at a magnification of merely 100).Special emphasis was laid on the study of the individual elements' gradual variation, depending on the respective position within the total feather (position variation). Where appropriate, an analysis of lengths, quantity, degree of differentiation, angle of inclination, break, and branching, cross-sectional view, curvature, etc. of the rhachis, rami, distal and proximal radii, barbicles, hooklets, etc. were undertaken. [Through measurements of the depth of details the effects caused by a sloping position (apparent variation) may be precisely separated from the real variation.]On the basis of such a detailed knowledge of structure and relative position a thorough functional analysis of the single elements as well as the total system is given.Principal features: The production of plain stability in the feather's center, and of flexibility in its apical and lateral rims; dispersion of forces in case of pressure or a pulling load; function of the hooklets (which donot serve as an interlocking mechanism while the feather is in the normal resting position, but function with increasing braking action only when a neighboring ramus diverges to a precisely defined extent from its resting position) including the mechanism of their unhooking; devices for the avoidance of harmful hooking into contacted parts of other feathers; production of maximal stability by minimal air resistance, and of minute chambers (<0,00001 mm3) with still air for optimal heat isolation.Apart from this abstract, further information, accompanied by numerous figures, will be given in a later paper in Stuttgarter Beiträge zur Naturkunde.

The mechanism of uptake of water-insoluble -sitosterol by a newly isolated strain of Arthrobacter simplex SS-7 was studied. The production of an extracellular sterol-pseudosolubilizing protein during growth of A. simplex on -sitosterol was demonstrated by isolating the factor from the cell-free supernatant and its subsequent purification by Sephadex G-150 column chromatography. The M r of the purified sterol-pseudosolubilizing protein determined by SDS–PAGE was 19kDa. The rate of sterol pseudosolubilization (5.2×10–3g l–1h–1) could not adequately account for the rate of sterol uptake (72×10–3g l–1h–1) and the specific growth rate (56×10–3 h–1). However in the unfavourable growth condition, when the cells were treated with sodium azide at the level of 30–60% of MIC, the sterol pseudosolubilization accounted for nearly 74% of the total growth containing 96% free cells. Cellular adherence to substrate particles was found to play an active role in the normal growth of the strain on -sitosterol. Unlike sodium acetate-grown cells, whose surface activity was negligible (60mNm–1), the sterol-grown cells had strong surface activity (40mNm–1). The high lipid content and long chain fatty acids in the cell-wall of -sitosterol-grown cells probably contribute to the high sterol adherence activity of the cells.  相似文献

Summary Few clinical responses have occurred in preliminary studies using the cytokines tumor necrosis factor (TNF) or interferon (IFN) in cancer patients. This may be related to the observation that many malignant cell lines are resistant to lysis by these cytokinesin vitro. Resistance to lysis by TNF or IFN in many cells is controlled by a protein-synthesis-dependent mechanism, such that when protein synthesis is inhibited cells become sensitive to lysis by these cytokines. Because there is some evidence that TNF and IFN act through different lytic mechanisms and are opposed by different resistance mechanisms, we treated a panel of eight cell lines, five derived from human cervical carcinomas (ME-180, MS751, SiHa, HT-3, and C-33A) and three derived from ovarian carcinomas (Caov-3, SK-OV-3, and NIH: OVCAR-3) with both TNF and IFN to determine whether such combination treatment might maximizein vitro cell lysis. Our results showed that pretreatment with IFN followed by exposure to TNF in the presence of protein synthesis inhibitors increased lysis of seven of the eight cell lines above that seen with either TNF or IFN and inhibitors of protein synthesis. Only the cell line C-33A was resistant to lysis by TNF and IFN, when exposed to these agents both alone and in combination with protein synthesis inhibitors. Clinically, combining the cytokines TNF and IFN with protein synthesis inhibitors may maximize thein vivo lytic effects of these cytokines.Supported by American Cancer Society Career Development Award 90-221  相似文献

Studies were undertaken to determine if there is an association between nonstomatally-mediated acclimation of photosynthesis to low water potential (w) and the maintenance of chloroplast volume during water stress. Spinach plants either kept well watered throughout their growth (non-acclimated), or subjected to water stress such that leaf w dropped to -1.5 megapascals (MPa) and then were rewatered (acclimated) were subjected to drought episodes. During these stress periods, photosynthesis was maintained to a greater extent in acclimated plants as compared to non-acclimated plants at w below -1 MPa.Estimates of internal leaf [CO2] suggested that photosynthetic acclimation to low w was not primarily due to altered stomatal response. As w dropped from initial values, a decline in steady state levels of ribulose 1,5-bisphosphate (RuBP) occurred in both non-acclimated and acclimated plants. RuBP decline was less severe in acclimated plants.Low w effects on chloroplast volume in non-acclimated and acclimated plants were estimated by measuring the volume of intact chloroplasts isolated from plants in solutions which were made isotonic to declining leaf osmotic potential during the drought episodes. Chloroplast volume was maintained to a greater extent at low w in acclimated, as compared with non-acclimated plants. Although substantial osmotic adjustment occurred in both non-acclimated and acclimated plants, the extent of osmotic adjustment was the same. The present study sought to identify and partially characterize the glycoconjugates specific to the double-layered ciliary body epithelium of the rat eye by lectin histochemistry and lectin blottings. Hydrated paraffin sections of Carnoy-fixed Sprague-Dawley rat eyes were stained with a panel of 21 different biotinylated lectins, followed by streptavidin-peroxidase and the glucose oxidase-diaminobenzidine-nickel staining procedure. The results of lectin histochemistry revealed that the inner epithelial layer was rich in GlcNAc(1,4)GlcNAc, -Gal, Gal(1,3)GalNAc, GalNAc(1,3)GalNAc/Gal, GalNAc(1,6)Gal, Fuc(1,2)Gal(1,4)GlcNAc and Gal(1,4)GlcNAc(1,2)Man(1,6) sugar residues as shown by its positive reactivities with S-WGA, PWA, DSA, GS-I-B4, PNA, DBA, SBA, WFA, UEA-I, LTA and PHA-E. The reactivities of GS-I-B4, PNA, DBA and SBA were restricted to the inner layer at the tips of the ciliary processes. On the other hand, the outer epithelial layer was stained evenly by DSA and Jacalin, and partly by MAA, showing that this epithelial layer was rich in GlcNAc(1,4)GlcNAc, Gal(1,3)GalNAc and NeuAc(2,3)Gal disaccharides. These lectin binding patterns of the ciliary body epithelium suggest a topographical and functional difference in this double cell-layered epithelium. Their possible roles in the secretion of aqueous humour and production of ciliary zonule are discussed. Some identified lectin markers specific to these two cell layers may be useful for further experimental studies. Glycoproteins extracted from the dissected ciliary body were separated by SDS-PAGE electrophoresis and analyzed by protein blottings with 8 different lectins. The results showed that at least 10 major membrane-bound glycoproteins, with molecular weights ranging from 30 to 150kD, rich in -GlcNAc, -Gal, /-GalNAc and NeuAc(2,6)Gal residues, were present in the microsomal fraction.  相似文献

Summary In Paramecium cells Ca++-stimulated triggering of the exocytosis of secretory vesicles (trichocysts) was achieved by ionophores X-537 A or A 23187. Under triggering conditions electron dense deposits were present in some resting trichocysts and regularly in discharging trichocysts; upon subsequent fixation deposits occurred on the trichocyst membrane (on the inner side or within the membrane) and on the inner lamellar sheath from where deposits seemed to radiate into the secretory materials. Similar results were obtained with glutardialdehyde fixation alone which also triggers exocytosis but only at low concentrations. Element analysis by energy dispersive x-ray microanalysis ascertained the presence of Ca and P in deposits occurring in trichocysts. Those resting trichocysts which were devoid of deposits did not contain Ca or P enriched. Hence, an abrupt Ca++-influx into individual trichocysts just before exocytosis seems to be involved in the triggering mechanism, possibly in combination with the sudden activation of an ATPase systemlocalized at those sites of the trichocysts which primarily contain the deposits. When paramecia were treated only with Ca++ and then fixed with OsO4 plus oxalate or merely with glutardialdehyde, electron scattering deposits were formed also on the inner side of the cell membrane and within the ciliary shaft (but rarely in trichocysts). Deposits obtained on cilia (including ciliary granule plaques) also contained Ca, P and S. Cells contain osmiophilic calcium-storing vacuoles which were selectively rich in Ca and S but devoid of P.  相似文献

Summary In pot experiments with oats on a sandy soil deficient in managanese and with an extremely low content of reducible managanese, the effect of 0.125 g reducible managanese in two pyrolusite fertilizers (-managanese dioxides) made in 1938 and 1955, respectively, was compared with the effect of 0.125 g water-soluble managanese as managanese sulphate.On soil to which no ferrous sulphate was added, the response to manganese added as Pyrolusite 1938 and Pyrolusite 1955 was of the same magnitude, but slightly less than the response to managanese added as managanese sulphate. The difference between the effect of pyrolusite and that of managanese sulphate was not, however, statistically significant.On soil to which ferrous sulphate had been added, a response was obtained to Pyrolusite 1938 twice as high, and to Pyrolusite 1955 three times as high as the response to manganese sulphate. These results support the suggestion2 that the manganese effect of ferrous sulphate is due to its ability to reduce higher managanese oxides in the soil.Since soil dressed with ferrous sulphate gave a response to added Pyrolusite 1955 which was about 50 per cent higher than the response to Pyrolusite 1938, and since, furthermore, the same amount of reducible manganese and the same number of manganese atoms on the surface of the two fertilizers were involved, it is probable that the difference between the effects of the two pyrolusite fertilizers found under these circumstances is due to difference in their crystallinity.  相似文献

We have previously shown that mitochondrial membrane potential () drop promoted by prooxidants and Ca2+ can be reversed but not sustained by ethylene glycol-bis(-aminoethylether)-N,N,N,N-tetraacetic acid (EGTA) unless dithiothreitol (DTT), a disulfide reductant, is also added [Valle, V. G. R., Fagian, M. M., Parentoni, L. S., Meinicke, A. R., and Vercesi, A. E. (1993).Arch. Biochem. Biophys. 307, 1–7]. In this study we show that catalase or ADP are also able to potentiate this EGTA effect. When EGTA is added long after (12 min) the completion of swelling or elimination, no membrane resealing occurs unless the EGTA addition was preceded by the inclusion of DTT, ADP, or catalase soon after was collapsed. Total recovery by EGTA is obtained only in the presence of ADP. The sensitivity of the ADP effect to carboxyatractyloside strongly supports the involvement of the ADP/ATP carrier in this mechanism. Sodium dodecyl sulfate-polyacrylamide gel electrophoresis of solubilized membrane proteins shows that protein aggregation due to thiol cross-linkage formed during drop continues even after is already eliminated. Titration with 5,5-dithio-bis(2-nitrobenzoic acid) supports the data indicating that the formation of protein aggregates is paralleled by a decrease in the content of membrane protein thiols. Since the presence of ADP and EGTA prevents the progress of protein aggregation, we conclude that this process is responsible for both increased permeability to larger molecules and the irreversibility of drop. Summary Crude homogenate of thermophilic archaebacteriumSulfolobus solfataricus, possessing a -glycosidase, has been used to synthesize different alkyl -D-glycosides starting from phenyl -D-glucoside, phenyl -D-galactoside and lactose as carbohydrate donors. High product yield (95% with respect to the carbohydrate donor) of octyl -D-glucoside has been obtained in a two-phase system containing 5% of water. The enantioselection for the galactosyl transfer to the secondary hydroxyl group of propane-1,2-diol is higher than that found using -galactosidase fromE. coli.  相似文献

We determined the enzymatic activity and crude subcellular distribution of four exopeptidases: Dipeptidylaminopeptidase IV (DAP-IV), Alanyl aminopeptidase (AAP), Prolyl aminopeptidase (PAP) and -Glutamyl transpeptidase (GTP), and two endopeptidases: Postproline endopeptidase (PEP) and Trypsin-like peptidase (T-L P) in pars compacta (SNPC) and pars reticulata (SNPR) of substantia nigra, caudate-putamen (CAU) and cerebral cortex (CC) of the rat brain. We found: 1) DAP-IV activity is comparatively higher in SNPC and it is equally distributed in the postmitochondrial precipitate (PR) and supernatant (SN) fractions of SNPC, CAU and CC but higher in the SN from SNPR. 2) CC shows the highest activity of AAP and its activity is mainly located in the SN from all areas. 3) The activity of PAP is comparatively higher in SNPC and it is exclusively located in the SN from all areas. 4) GTP activity is similar in all areas but its predominance is in the SN for SNPC and SNPR, and in the PR for CAU and CC. 5) CAU has higher PEP activity (higher in the PR) than CC (higher in the SN); no activity is detected in the substantia nigra. 6) The activity of a Trypsin-like peptidase is the highest in SNPC and SNPR; this activity have some predominance in the SN and higher predominance in the same fraction from CAU and CC.  相似文献

Summary Four types of striated muscle fibers with distinctive ultrastructure were defined in the Atlantic hagfish (Myxine glutinosa, L.): white, intermediate, and red fibers of m. parietalis, and red fibers of m. craniovelaris.White fibers are thick, contain very few mitochondria and fat vacuoles, and possess distinct and separate myofibrils with thin Z-disks and distinct M-lines. Intermediate fibers are thinner, possess largely similar myofibrils that often are even better separated due to a higher content of fat vacuoles and especially mitochondria and glycogen granules. Red fibers of m. parietalis contain large amounts of mitochondria, fat vacuoles, and glycogen granules. Their myofibrils possess M-lines, and although branching more, the myofibrils of red fibers conform with a Fibrillenstruktur pattern like those of white and intermediate fibers. Red fibers of m. craniovelaris are very thin, possess many smaller fat vacuoles, and large amounts of mitochondria and glycogen granules. The myofibrils are significantly thinner than in m. parietalis fibers, run as quite independent well separated units, possess thicker Z-disks, and lack M-lines.
