To investigate the influence of atrial natriuretic factor (ANF) on renal function during mechanical ventilation (MV), we examined the renal and hormonal responses to synthetic human ANF infusion in eight patients during MV with zero (ZEEP) or 10 cmH2O positive end-expiratory pressure (PEEP). Compared with ZEEP, MV with PEEP was associated with a reduction in diuresis (V) from 208 +/- 51 to 68 +/- 11 ml/h (P less than 0.02), in natriuresis (UNa) from 12.4 +/- 3.3 to 6.2 +/- 2.1 mmol/h (P less than 0.02), and in fractional excretion of sodium (FENa) from 1.07 +/- 0.02), 0.21 to 0.67 +/- 0.17% (P less than 0.02) and with an increase in plasma renin activity (PRA) from 4.83 +/- 1.53 to 7.85 +/- 3.02 ng.ml-1.h-1 (P less than 0.05). Plasma ANF levels markedly decreased during PEEP in four patients but showed only minor changes in the other four patients, and mean plasma ANF levels did not change (163 +/- 33 pg/ml during ZEEP and 126 +/- 30 pg/ml during PEEP). Glomerular filtration rate and renal plasma flow were unchanged. Infusion of ANF (5 ng.kg-1.min-1) during PEEP markedly increased V and UNa by 110 +/- 61 and 107 +/- 26%, respectively, whereas PRA decreased from 7.85 +/- 3.02 to 4.40 +/- 1.5 ng.ml-1.min-1 (P less than 0.05). In response to a 10 ng.kg-1.min-1 ANF infusion, V increased to 338 +/- 79 ml/h during ZEEP but only to 134 +/- 45 ml/h during PEEP (P less than 0.02), whereas UNa increased, respectively, to 23.8 +/- 5.3 and 11.3 +/- 3.3 mmol/h (P less than 0.02).(ABSTRACT TRUNCATED AT 250 WORDS)  相似文献

Whether or not 1-desamino-8-D-arginine-vasopressin (DDAVP) reduces blood pressure or affects the release of arginine vasopressin (AVP) and renin is controversial, although evidence suggests AVP and renin are important in maintaining blood pressure during hemorrhage. We therefore investigated the effect of DDAVP on endogenous release of AVP and renin and on blood pressure during hemorrhage in dogs. In the control group the hemorrhage was performed at a rate of 0.4 ml.kg-1.min-1 for 40 min from the femoral artery. The plasma AVP concentration and renin activity (PRA) increased progressively in response to the hemorrhage, from 7.5 +/- 0.5 to 40.3 +/- 7.3 pg.ml-1, and from 11.8 +/- 1.5 to 20.5 +/- 4.2 ng.ml-1.h-1, respectively, while blood pressure decreased slightly. In the DDAVP group, intravenous infusion of DDAVP (2.5 ng.kg-1.min-1 for 40 min) and hemorrhage were simultaneously performed. The plasma DDAVP concentration increased progressively to 218 +/- 21.0 pg.ml-1. There was no significant difference, however, between the control and DDAVP groups in the response of AVP, PRA and blood pressure. The results suggested that DDAVP may not affect the release of AVP and renin or blood pressure during hemorrhage.  相似文献

Corticotrophic secretion of ACTH is stimulated by corticotropin-releasing hormone (CRH) and arginine vasopressin (AVP), and suppressed by glucocorticoids. In vitro and preclinical studies suggest that atrial natriuretic factor (ANF) may be a peptidergic inhibitor of pituitary-adrenocortical activity. The aim of this study was to elucidate a possible role of ANF as a modulator of ACTH release in humans. A bolus injection of 100 micrograms human CRH (hCRH) during a 30 min intravenous infusion of 5 micrograms/min human alpha atrial natriuretic factor (h alpha ANF) was administered at 19:00 to six healthy male volunteers. In comparison to saline, a blunted CRH-stimulated secretion of ACTH (mean maximum plasma level +/- SD 45 min after hCRH: saline 46.2 +/- 14.2 pg/ml, h alpha ANF 34.6 +/- 13.8 pg/ml, p-value = 0.007) and a delayed rise (10 min) in cortisol were detected. The maximum plasma cortisol levels remained nearly unchanged between saline and h alpha ANF administration (mean maximum plasma level +/- SD 60 min after hCRH: saline 182 +/- 26 ng/ml, h alpha ANF 166 +/- 54 ng/ml). No effects of h alpha ANF on basal cortisol levels were observed; in contrast, basal ACTH plasma levels were slightly reduced. Basal blood pressure and heart rate remained unaffected. In the control experiment, infusion of 3 IU AVP in the same experimental paradigm increased basal and stimulated ACTH and cortisol levels significantly in comparison to saline. These observations suggest that intravenously administered haANF inhibits the CRH-stimulated release of ACTH in man.  相似文献

Recent studies have shown that nitric oxide (NO) biosynthesis increases in pregnancy and that inhibition of nitric oxide synthase (NOS) induces some pathological processes characteristic of preeclampsia. The current project sought to study the effect of the NOS inhibitor Nomega-nitro-L-arginine methyl ester (L-NAME, 10 microg x min(-1), sc for 7 days) on plasma volume, plasma atrial natriuretic factor (ANF), plasma endothelin-1 (ET), and plasma renin activity (PRA) during gestation in conscious rats. NOS inhibition caused mean arterial pressure to increase in both virgin and 21-day pregnant rats. Plasma volume fell in the pregnant rats [L-NAME, 4.5 +/- 0.3 mL x 100 g(-1) body wt. (n = 7) vs. D-NAME, 6.8 +/- 0.2 mL x 100 g(-1) body wt. (n = 10); P < 0.05] but not in the virgin rats [L-NAME, 4.3 +/- 0.1 mL x 100 g(-1) body wt. (n = 6) vs. D-NAME, 4.8 +/- 0.2 mL x 100 g(-1) body wt. (n = 8)]. There was no effect of NOS inhibition on plasma ANF levels or PRA in either the virgin or pregnant rats. However, L-NAME did decrease plasma ET levels in the pregnant rats [L-NAME, 19.6 +/- 1.6 pg x mL(-1) (n = 8) vs. D-NAME, 11.6 +/- 2.5 pg x mL(-1) (n = 9); P < 0.05]. Our results confirm that NO is involved in cardiovascular homeostasis in pregnancy; NOS inhibition selectively reduces plasma volume in pregnant rats, thus mimicking a major pathophysiological perturbation of preeclampsia. However, it does not induce the hormonal changes characteristic of preeclampsia, namely the decrease in PRA and increase in plasma ET and ANF levels.  相似文献

The effect of maximal treadmill exercise on plasma concentrations of vasopressin (AVP); renin activity (PRA); and aldosterone (ALDO) was studied in nine female college basketball players before and after a 5-month basketball season. Pre-season plasma AVP increased (p less than 0.05) from a pre-exercise concentration of 3.8 +/- 0.5 to 15.8 +/- 4.8 pg X ml-1 following exercise. Post-season, the pre-exercise plasma AVP level averaged 1.5 +/- 0.5 pg X ml-1 and increased to 16.7 +/- 5.9 pg X ml-1 after the exercise test. PRA increased (p less than 0.05) from a pre-exercise value of 1.6 +/- 0.6 to 6.8 +/- 1.7 ngAI X ml-1 X hr-1 5 min after the end of exercise during the pre-season test. In the post-season, the pre-exercise PRA was comparable (2.4 +/- 0.6 ngAI X ml- X hr-1), as was the elevation found after maximal exercise (8.3 +/- 1.9 ngAI X ml- X hr-1). Pre-season plasma ALDO increased (p less than 0.05) from 102.9 +/- 30.8 pg X ml-1 in the pre-exercise period to 453.8 +/- 54.8 pg X ml-1 after the exercise test. In the post-season the values were 108.9 +/- 19.4 and 365.9 +/- 64.4 pg X ml-1, respectively. Thus, maximal exercise in females produced significant increases in plasma AVP, renin activity, and ALDO that are comparable to those reported previously for male subjects. Moreover, this response is remarkably reproducible as demonstrated by the results of the two tests performed 5 months apart.  相似文献

Hemodynamic, gas exchange, and hormonal response induced by application of a 25- to 40-mmHg lower body positive pressure (LBPP), during positive end-expiratory pressure (PEEP; 14 +/- 2.5 cmH2O) were studied in nine patients with acute respiratory failure. Compared with PEEP alone, LBPP increased cardiac index (CI) from 3.57 to 4.76 l X min-1 X m-2 (P less than 0.001) in relation to changes in right atrial pressure (RAP) (11 to 16 mmHg; P less than 0.01). Cardiopulmonary blood volume (CPBV) measured in five patients increased during LBPP from 546 +/- 126 to 664 +/- 150 ml (P less than 0.01), with a positive linear relationship between changes in RAP and CPBV (r = 0.88; P less than 0.001). Venous admixture (Qva/QT) decreased with PEEP from 24 to 16% (P less than 0.001) but did not change with LBPP despite the large increase in CI, leading to a marked O2 availability increase (P less than 0.001). Although PEEP induced a significant rise in plasma norepinephrine level (NE) (from 838 +/- 97 to 1008 +/- 139 pg/ml; P less than 0.05), NE was significantly decreased by LBPP to control level (from 1,008 +/- 139 to 794 +/- 124 pg/ml; P less than 0.003). Plasma epinephrine levels were not influenced by PEEP or LBPP. Changes of plasma renin activity (PRA) paralleled those of NE. No change in plasma arginine vasopressin (AVP) was recorded. We concluded that LBPP increases venous return and CPBV and counteracts hemodynamic effects of PEEP ventilation, without significant change in Qva/QT. Mechanical ventilation with PEEP stimulates sympathetic activity and PRA apparently by a reflex neuronal mechanism, at least partially inhibited by the loading of cardiopulmonary low-pressure reflex and high-pressure baroreflex. Finally, AVP does not appear to be involved in the acute cardiovascular adaptation to PEEP.  相似文献

Controlled mandatory ventilation with positive end-expiratory pressure (PEEP) reduces renal sodium excretion. To examine whether atrial natriuretic factor (ANF) is involved in the renal response to alterations in end-expiratory pressure in hypervolemic dogs, experiments were performed on anesthetized dogs with increased blood volume. Changing from PEEP to zero end-expiratory pressure (ZEEP) increased sodium excretion by 145 +/- 61 from 310 +/- 61 mumol/min and increased plasma immunoreactive (ir) ANF by 104 +/- 27 from 136 +/- 21 pg/ml. Changing from ZEEP to PEEP reduced sodium excretion by 136 +/- 36 mumol/min and reduced plasma irANF by 98 +/- 22 pg/ml. To examine a possible causal relationship, ANF (6 ng.min-1.kg body wt-1) was infused intravenously during PEEP to raise plasma irANF to the same level as during ZEEP. Sodium excretion increased by 80 +/- 36 from 290 +/- 78 mumol/min as plasma irANF increased by 96 +/- 28 from 148 +/- 28 pg/ml. We conclude that alterations in end-expiratory pressure lead to great changes in plasma irANF and sodium excretion in dogs with increased blood volume. Comparison of the effects of altering end-expiratory pressure and infusing ANF indicates that a substantial part of the changes in sodium excretion during variations in end-expiratory pressure can be attributed to changes in plasma irANF.  相似文献

In seven healthy male volunteers we investigated changes in plasma atrial natriuretic factor [( ANF]), arginine vasopressin [( AVP]) and plasma volume (PV) during supine immersion. Twenty minutes head-out water immersion in a supine position in a thermo-neutral water bath attenuated the increase in PV induced by 20 min in a supine position in air, but increased the mean plasma [ANF] from 32.0 pg.ml-1, SEM 5.1 to 53.3 pg.ml-1, SEM 3.6 and decreased the mean plasma [AVP] from 1.4 pg.ml-1, SEM 0.1 to 0.9 pg.ml-1, SEM 0.04. Simultaneously, diuresis and natriuresis increased markedly. During a 20-min control period in the supine posture without immersion, PV, plasma [ANF] and [AVP] remained unaffected while diuresis and natriuresis did not increase to the same extent. These data suggest that an increase in the central blood volume induced by a weak external hydrostatic pressure during supine immersion triggered the changes in plasma [ANF] and [AVP] and that the increase was probably due to a shift of blood volume from peripheral to central vessels. The changes in plasma [ANF] contributed to the changes in natriuresis.  相似文献

The purpose of this study was to measure the effect of enhanced venous return on atrial natriuretic factor (ANF) secretion during exercise and upright posture and the consequences on renin angiotensin aldosterone system (RAAS) activity. Six healthy male subjects were submitted to four different procedures. All procedures were performed in the same position, i.e. riding on a support with legs hanging. Two procedures were performed at rest: the subjects were studied after a 25-min rest in this position, with and without the lower limb fitted with an anti-G suit inflated to 60 mmHg. Two procedures were carried out with physical exercise; arm-cranking was performed in the same position with and without the anti-G suit inflated to 60 mmHg. Venous blood was collected before and after each procedure in order to measure plasma ANF, plasma aldosterone concentration (PAC), plasma renin activity (PRA), corticotrophin (ACTH) and catecholamine level. The data mean +/- SEM showed that the ANF plasma level decreased significantly (p less than 0.05) from 32.5 +/- 4 to 28 +/- 6 pg.ml-1 after a 20-min rest in the upright posture, whereas this effect was absolished with anti-G suit inflation. Physical exercise with and without the anti-G suit increased the ANF level above control values (60 +/- 13.6 pg.ml-1 and 53 +/- 13 pg.ml-1): anti-G suit inflation had no significant effect. PRA increased after rest in an upright posture and during physical exercise; anti-G suit inflation abolished this increase in both conditions.(ABSTRACT TRUNCATED AT 250 WORDS)  相似文献

To assess the effects of age on responsiveness of atrial natriuretic factor (ANF) release, and the possible contribution of cardiac sympathetic activity, in young (n = 8) and older normotensives (n = 7), the effects of cardiac volume load on plasma ANF, central venous pressure, and general hemodynamics were evaluated. Studies were performed after pretreatment with placebo or 80 mg propranolol. Cardiac volume loading increased central venous pressure by 3-5 mmHg (1 mmHg = 133.3 Pa); beta-blockade did not affect this response. Cardiac volume load caused significant increases in heart rate (10-15 beats/min) and cardiac index (by 0.7-0.8 L.min-1.m-2) and decreases in plasma catecholamines. Propranolol attenuated the increases in heart rate and cardiac index. These hemodynamic responses did not differ significantly between the two groups of subjects. Cardiac volume load significantly increased plasma ANF, by 87 +/- 21 pg/mL in the young normotensives and by 212 +/- 33 pg/mL in the older normotensives (p < 0.01, young vs. older). beta-Blockade did not affect this different response. Our results show that the plasma ANF response to volume loading is potentiated by aging. Although differences in atrial stretch cannot be excluded, this effect may relate to the decrease in clearance of plasma ANF occurring with aging.  相似文献

A simple and sensitive radioimmunoassay was developed for measurement of immunoreactive atrial natriuretic factor (IR-ANF) in rat and human plasma and in rat atria. The two atria contain about 20 micrograms ANF per rat. The right atrium contained 2.5 times more ANF than did the left. Ether anesthesia and morphine markedly increased IR-ANF in rat plasma. The concentration of IR-ANF in plasma of clinically normal human subjects was 65.3 +/- 2.5 pg/ml. Paroxysmal tachycardia and rapid atrial pacing significantly increased IR-ANF in human plasma. Two- to seven-fold higher concentrations were found in coronary sinus blood than in the peripheral circulation. In the plasma of rats and humans, circulating ANF is probably a small-molecular-weight peptide. ANF acts on the adrenal and the pituitary. ANF inhibits aldosterone secretion from rat zona glomerulosa and steroid secretion by bovine adrenal zona glomerulosa and fasciculata. ANF stimulated the basal secretion of arginine vasopressin (AVP) in vitro and inhibited KCl-stimulated release of AVP.  相似文献

Oxytocin (OT) binds to the vasopressin V2 receptor (V2R) because of its structural similarity to arginine vasopressin (AVP). Though the affinity of OT for V2R is low, it is known that OT causes antidiuresis. To clarify the effect of OT as an agonist of V2R, we investigated the influence of acute elevation of plasma OT levels on the rat mRNA expression of V2R and aquaporin-2 (AQP2), the water channel regulated by V2R. The plasma OT level increased from 11.1+/-1.6 pg/ml to 331.0+/-67.9 pg/ml by 1 h after subcutaneousinjection of 20 microg OT. V2R mRNA expression decreased to 68.3+/-4.1% of the control at 3 h, and AQP2 mRNA expression increased to 239.3+/-26.8% of the control at 6 h. The plasma AVP level did not change significantly during the experiment. The influence of a subcutaneous injection of 20 microg OT on V2R and AQP2 mRNA expression is comparable to that of 10 microg AVP that we documented in the previous study. In conclusion, OT can downregulate V2R mRNA expression and upregulate AQP2 mRNA expression in the collecting duct as an agonist of the V2R like AVP.  相似文献

Clonidine, an alpha 2-adrenergic agonist, induced a marked, dose-related increase of plasma IR-ANF in normally-hydrated rats. Maximal ANF release was observed at 10 min after injection of 50 micrograms clonidine, rising from 40.5 +/- 4.6 pg/ml (X +/- SEM) to 1064.4 +/- 22.4 pg/ml. This effect on plasma IR-ANF was partially blocked by pretreatment with 0.8 mg naloxone, whereas synthetic Arg8-vasopressin (AVP) did not inhibit clonidine's action. These findings indicate that increased ANF release may be involved in the mechanism of clonidine-induced diuresis. The clonidine's effect on ANF release may be mediated via activation of opioid receptors besides stimulation of alpha 2-adrenergic receptors.  相似文献

Plasma atriopeptin response to prolonged cycling in humans.   总被引:1,自引:0,他引:1
The exercise-induced increase in plasma atriopeptin (ANP) has been related to exercise intensity. The independent effect of duration on the ANP response to dynamic exercise remains incompletely documented. The purpose of this study was to describe the time course of plasma ANP concentration during a 90-min cycling exercise protocol and to examine this in light of concurrent variations in plasma arginine vasopressin (AVP), aldosterone (ALD), and catecholamine (norepinephrine and epinephrine) concentrations as well as plasma renin activity (PRA). Seven male and four female healthy college students (23 +/- 2 yr) completed a prolonged exercise protocol on a cycle ergometer at an intensity of 67% of maximal O2 uptake. Venous blood was sampled through an indwelling catheter at rest, after 15, 30, 45, 60, and 90 min of exercise, and after 30 min of passive upright recovery. Results (means +/- SE) indicate an increase in ANP from rest (22 +/- 2.6 pg/ml) at 15 min of exercise (45.3 +/- 7.4 pg/ml) with a further increase at 30 min (59.4 +/- 9.8 pg/ml) and a leveling-off thereafter until completion of the exercise protocol (51.7 +/- 10.7 pg/ml). In plasma ALD and PRA, a significant increase was found from rest (ALD, 21.4 +/- 6.4 ng/dl), PRA, 2.5 +/- 0.5 ng.ml-1.h-1 after 30 min of cycling, which continued to increase until completion of the exercise (ALD 46.6 +/- 8.7 ng/dl, PRA 9.5 +/- 0.9 ng.ml-1.h-1.(ABSTRACT TRUNCATED AT 250 WORDS)  相似文献

The role of arginine vasopressin (AVP) in blood pressure regulation in humans and animals is still controversial. The present study was designed to investigate the effects of AVP on blood pressure and the excretion of sodium and prostaglandin (PG) E2 in rabbits. AVP dissolved in 0.01 M acetic acid was infused subcutaneously at a rate of 0.86 ng/kg/min with a miniosmotic pump into 12 New Zealand white rabbits (2.7-3.4 kg), while 10 controls were given vehicle alone. AVP infusion resulted in a 3.5-fold rise in the level of plasma AVP (21.8 +/- 4.4 (SEM) pg/ml) as compared with controls, associated with a significant decrease in the urine volume and urinary excretion of sodium. The PGE2 excretion was increased 1.8-fold after AVP infusion. In the chronic AVP-infused group, blood pressure was not significantly increased, but the acute vascular response to AVP was significantly attenuated without any changes in the vasopressor response to angiotensin II. Preadministration of V1-antagonist completely abolished the vasopressor action of AVP, but not that of angiotensin II, in either group. These results suggest that circulating AVP within physiological range of concentrations may stimulate renal PGE2 synthesis and attenuate the vascular response through vascular V1 receptors without affecting the baroreflex, which may be attenuated through V2 receptors.  相似文献

The aim of this study was to measure the effects of an increase in negative intrathoracic pressure on the release of ANF. With the subjects seated comfortably, 3 control blood samples were obtained over 30 minutes. Eight subjects then breathed for 30 min. through an inspiratory resistance in such a way that maximal inspiratory pleural pressures were between -30 to -40 cmH2O. Three blood samples were withdrawn after 20, 25, and 30 min., with the subject still breathing against the artificial resistance. Plasma concentrations of ANF were analysed by RIA. They measured: control value 24.6 +/- 3.7 pg ANF/mL (X +/- SE); with resistance 37.1 +/- 8.1 pg/mL (p less than or equal to .05). These results suggest that ANF could be released during an asthma attack.  相似文献

In this article, after a very brief review on ANF receptors, we report our study on the effects of small C-ANF receptor ligands in the rat. Two small ligands were synthesized: 2-naphthoxyacetyl-isonipecotyl-rANF11-15-NH2 (5 aa), containing 5 amino acids; and Ala7-rANF8-17-NH2 (10 aa), containing 10 amino acids from the ring structure of ANF1-28. After control periods, 5 aa or 10 aa were infused i.v. at a dose of 10 micrograms.min-1.kg-1 body weight for 70 min in anesthetized rats, followed by a 60-min recovery period. The 5 aa and 10 aa peptides significantly and reversibly increased plasma levels of endogenous immunoreactive ANF by 106 +/- 29 and 52 +/- 24 pg/mL, respectively. Infusion of the 5 aa peptide significantly decreased mean arterial blood pressure from 113 +/- 1 to 100 +/- 3 mmHg (1 mmHg = 133.32 Pa) and increased glomerular filtration rate from 1.6 +/- 0.2 to 2.3 +/- 0.2 mL/min, sodium excretion from 0.6 +/- 0.3 to 3.4 +/- 0.4 mumol/min, and potassium excretion from 0.5 +/- 0.2 to 1.2 +/- 0.2 mumol/min. Similar results were obtained with the 10 aa peptide. The effects of both peptides on blood pressure and sodium excretion persisted throughout the recovery period. The results confirm and extend previous observations showing that C-ANF receptors mediate the removal of ANF from the circulation. The shortening of the minimal peptide length necessary to bind to C-ANF receptors markedly enhances the possibility of developing orally active C-ANF receptor ligands for the treatment of cardiovascular and renal diseases.  相似文献

We determined the cardiovascular and AVP responses of prenatally dehydrated (PreDehy) neonates to intravascular hemorrhage. Ewes with singleton fetuses were subjected to water restriction from 110 days of gestation to full term to achieve hypernatremia of 8-10 meq/l. Water and food were provided ad libitum to control ewes. After delivery, water and food were provided ad libitum to ewes from both groups, and newborns were allowed to nurse ad libitum. At 15 +/- 2 days of age, PreDehy and control lambs were prepared with bladder and femoral catheters and studied at 25 +/- 2 days of age. After a 2-h basal period, lambs were hemorrhaged to 30% of blood volume over 1 h (0.5% of blood volume/min) and monitored 1 h after hemorrhage. Neonatal arterial blood pressure was measured, and blood samples were collected. Basal plasma sodium levels, plasma osmolality, hematocrit, and mean arterial pressure were increased in PreDehy lambs compared with controls. Both groups had similar basal AVP levels and heart rate. In response to hemorrhage, all parameters remained significantly elevated in PreDehy lambs. Blood pressure decreased less in PreDehy lambs than in controls. The hemorrhage-AVP threshold (percent blood volume withdrawal at which plasma AVP values significantly increased) was markedly elevated (20 vs. 15%) and peak hemorrhage-induced AVP plasma levels were lower (5.6 +/- 1.5 vs. 10.1 +/- 1.5 pg/ml, P < 0.01) in PreDehy lambs than in controls. Thus offspring of dehydrated ewes demonstrate enhanced AVP secretory responses to hypotension. Despite potential long-term adverse effects of systemic hypertension, these results suggest a protective effect of prenatal water restriction on offspring cardiovascular homeostasis during blood volume reduction.  相似文献

Two peptides consisting of amino acids 1-30 and 31-67 of the N-terminal end of the prohormone of atrial natriuretic factor (pro ANF) which vasodilate aortas in vitro, lower blood pressure in vivo, and have natriuretic properties were found to circulate in 54 normal human volunteers. The mean circulating concentration of pro ANF 1-30 was 1861 +/- 87 pg/ml (SEM) while pro ANF 31-67 mean concentration was 1478 +/- 71 pg/ml versus a level of 67 +/- 3 pg/ml for atrial natriuretic factor (ANF). In chronic renal failure their mean concentrations increased to 40,484 +/- 6,929 pg/ml (SEM), 108,566 +/- 16,888 pg/ml, and 348 +/- 81 pg/ml for pro ANFs 1-30 and 31-67 and ANF respectively. Since pro ANF 1-30 and pro ANF 31-67 circulate in man and have physiologic effects they meet the criteria of two new hormones.  相似文献
