The objective of this study was to perform a malacological assessment at the Ibirité reservoir watershed in the metropolitan region of Belo Horizonte (Minas Gerais) and to evaluate the natural infestation rate of Biomphalaria straminea (Gastropoda: Planorbidae) by Schistosoma mansoni (Platyhelminthes: Trematoda) and Chaetogaster limnaei (Oligochaeta: Naididae). The samples were collected from July to August 2002. The B. straminea individuals collected were kept in the laboratory; the natural infestation rate by S. mansoni and C. limnaei was assessed weekly. The malacological assessment identified five mollusk species present in the Ibirité reservoir watershed: B. straminea, Physa marmorata, Lymnea sp., Melanoides tuberculatus, and Pomacea austrum. Laboratory observations showed that the B. straminea individuals were infected by C. limnaei rather than S. mansoni. Although there was no infection of B. straminea by S. mansoni, presence of B. straminea in itself merits close attention due to possible risk of human schistosomiasis by the local population.  相似文献

Biomphalaria glabrata and B. straminea were submitted to an out-door laboratory experiment for testing their comparative ability to resist desiccation. Results have shown that B. straminea is significantly higher resistant than B. glabrata. After five months under such distressing condition the survival ratios were: B. glabrata 8.1 per cent and B. straminea 18.4 per cent.  相似文献

Experiments reported in the current paper, carried out under semi-field conditions created in the laboratory, have shown that B. straminea has competitive superiority when compared with B. glabrata. Biological denitrification of nitrate to nitrogen gas was examined in a freshwater and a marine aquarium. Nitrate removal in the aquarium water was accomplished with denitrifiers immobilized in a freeze-dried, alginate-starch matrix. Starch served as a bacterial carbon source and cellular matrix-strengthening filler. Freeze-dried beads were placed in canisters through which nitrate-rich aquarium water was recirculated. The freshwater aquarium (100 L) contained goldfish (Carassius auratus) at a total biomass of 390 g, whereas cichlids (Oreochromis mossambicus) were kept at a similar stocking density in the marine aquarium. Denitrification resulted in low ambient nitrate concentrations in both aquariums. The specific nitrate removal rate of the freshwater beads was significantly higher (50 microg of NO(3)-N/bead/day) than that of seawater beads (5 microg of NO(3)-N/bead/day). Differences in ambient nitrate concentrations between both aquariums and diffusion limitation of nitrate to the active denitrification sites within the beads might explain these observed differences.  相似文献

以青藏高原的特有植物麻花艽为材料,研究麻花艽叶片抗氧化酶系统对增强UV-B辐射的响应。结果表明:在UV-B处理初期,麻花艽叶片SOD、POD的酶活性都能增加,但随着处理时间的延长,SOD、POD的活性呈现下降趋势。麻花艽叶片CAT的酶活性在UVB处理后下降明显,但作为清除叶绿体中H2O2的关键酶AP的酶活性表现为明显地增加趋势,说明在对麻花艽叶片增强UV-B辐射反应中AP起有着重要作用。MDA的含量随UV-B处理时间延长而增加,表明UV-B降低了细胞内活性氧自由基的清除能力,膜脂过氧化作用加剧,导致了对麻花艽叶片的伤害效应。  相似文献

Biomphalaria glabrata, B. tenagophila and B. straminea are intermediate hosts of Schistosoma mansoni, in Brazil. The latter is of epidemiological importance in the northwest of Brazil and, due to morphological similarities, has been grouped with B. intermedia and B. kuhniana in a complex named B. straminea. In the current work, we have standardized the simple sequence repeat anchored polymerase chain reaction (SSR-PCR) technique, using the primers (CA)8RY and K7, to study the genetic variability of these species. The similarity level was calculated using the Dice coefficient and genetic distance using the Nei and Li coefficient. The trees were obtained by the UPGMA and neighbor-joining methods. We have observed that the most related individuals belong to the same species and locality and that individuals from different localities, but of the same species, present clear heterogeneity. The trees generated using both methods showed similar topologies. The SSR-PCR technique was shown to be very efficient in intrapopulational and intraspecific studies of the B. straminea complex snails.  相似文献

Agrobacterium tumefaciens B6 and ATCC 15955 were grown under octopine or glutamate limitation in chemostats. Examination of the maximum specific growth rate (mu max) and substrate affinity (KS) for each strain indicated that strain B6 was highly inefficient in its use of octopine as either a nitrogen or carbon source compared with strain ATCC 15955. Examination of the yield coefficients showed that in both strains octopine was used more efficiently as a nitrogen source than as a carbon source. The data permitted predictions to be made concerning the outcome of competition for a single limiting substrate. Under octopine limitation, strain ATCC 15955 should dominate; under glutamate limitation, strain B6 should dominate. The results of an observed competition with glutamate as the limiting substrate confirmed the latter prediction, although B6 did dominate at a rate faster than was predicted from simple competition theory. B6 displayed higher growth rates and substrate affinities than ATCC 15955 on all concentrations of glutamate. The yield of B6 on octopine was also considerably higher. This latter attribute could provide an ecological advantage to B6 because of the importance of yield in the fate of competitions under multisubstrate regimens. These will be the most prevalent regimens in the area around the tumor (tumorosphere) or the rhizosphere. The increased performance on glutamate could provide an advantage in an opine-free environment when B6 is growing as a saprophyte.  相似文献

比较了两种不同攀援习性, 卷须缠绕种薄叶羊蹄甲(Bauhinia tenuiflora)和茎缠绕种刺果藤(Byttneria aspera), 木质藤本植物的形态、生长及光合特性对不同光强(4%、35%和全光照)和土壤养分(高和低)的响应。两种藤本植物大部分表型特征主要受光照的影响, 而受土壤养分的影响较小。弱光促进地上部分生长, 弱光下两种植物均具有较大的比叶面积(specific leaf area, SLA)、茎生物量比(stem mass ratio, SMR)和平均叶面积比(mean leaf area ratio, LARm)。高光强下, 两种植物的总生物量和投入到地下部分的比重增加, 具有更大的根生物量比(root mass ratio, RMR)、更多的分枝数、更高的光合能力( maximum photosynthetic rate, Pmax)和净同化速率(net assimilation rate, NAR), 综合表现为相对生长速率(relative growth rate, RGR)增加。两种藤本植物的Pmax与叶片含氮量的相关性均未达显著水平, 但刺果藤的Pmax与SLA之间呈显著的正相关, 而薄叶羊蹄甲的Pmax与SLA之间相关性不显著。在相同光照强度和土壤养分条件下, 卷须缠绕种薄叶羊蹄甲的RGR显著高于茎缠绕种刺果藤。薄叶羊蹄甲的RGR与NAR呈显著正相关, 其RGR与SLA、平均叶面积比(LARm)及Pmax之间相关性不显著。刺果藤的RGR与NAR呈显著的正相关, 而与SLA存在显著的负相关。上述结果表明, 与土壤养分相比, 光照强度可能是决定木质藤本分布更为重要的生态因子。卷须缠绕种薄叶羊蹄甲由于具有特化的攀援器官, 在形态上和生理上具有更大的可塑性, 这使得卷须缠绕种木质藤本在与其它植物的竞争中更具优势。  相似文献

It has been reported that flashing light enhances microalgal biomass productivity and overall photosynthetic efficiency. The algal growth kinetics and oxygen production rates under flashing light with various flashing frequencies (5 Hz-37 kHz) were compared with those under equivalent continuous light in photobioreactors. A positive flashing light effect was observed with flashing frequencies over 1 kHz. The oxygen production rate under conditions of flashing light was slightly higher than that under continuous light. The cells under the high frequency flashing light were also observed to be healthier than those under continuous light, particularly at higher cell concentrations. When 37 kHz flashing light was applied to an LED-based photobioreactor, the cell concentration was higher than that obtained under continuous light by about 20%. Flashing light may be a reasonable solution to overcome mutual shading, particularly in high-density algal cultures.  相似文献

以青藏高原东缘亚高山针叶林群落演替后期种岷江冷杉、演替中后期种粗枝云杉和青榨槭、及先锋树种红桦为材料,研究了不同光强下生长的4种树苗生长、生物量分配、叶片形态和光合特性,探讨植物幼苗的形态和生理特征的表型可塑性与光适应的关系。结果表明:(1)弱光环境中生长的4种植物的基茎、相对生长速率、叶片厚度、根重比、最大净光合速率、光饱和点、光补偿点、暗呼吸速率较低,而比叶面积、地上/地下生物量、茎长/茎重、叶重比和茎重比较高。(2)大部分光环境下岷江冷杉幼苗的最大净光合速率和暗呼吸速率低于粗枝云杉,青榨槭幼苗的最大净光合速率和暗呼吸速率略低于红桦。(3)高光强下生长的粗枝云杉和红桦幼苗的相对生长速率分别大于岷江冷杉和青榨槭,但在低光强下则与之相反。(4)粗枝云杉和红桦幼苗的11种可塑性指数平均值则分别大于岷江冷杉和青榨槭。岷江冷杉适应弱光环境的能力略强于粗枝云杉和红桦,但适应强光的能力较差。生理适应的可塑性指数大于形态适应的可塑性指数,表明前者在4种植物幼苗光适应方面起到了重要的作用。研究结果支持树种的生理生态特性决定了其演替状况和生境选择的假说。  相似文献

The crossbreeding activities of the Schistosoma mansoni vector snail Biomphalaria glabrata were counted in a laboratory aquarium throughout the year under two regimes of 12h light: 12h dark from 7 A. M. to 10 P. M. Mating increased significantly in Autumn and Winter and just missed a significant inverse correlation with temperature and a direct one with locomotion. Other similar experiments were carried out to compare mating under various illumination conditions in complete daily cycle measurements. Mating counts decreased under the regimes which submitted snail to a total exposure of 12h light and 12h dark during a daily cycle in the following sequence: 12h light:12h dark alternating hourly with light gradient, 12h light:12h dark, 1h light:1h dark and 12h dark:12h light. Under two constant illuminations, the mating scored less than under the previous conditions, except under 12h dark:12h light. Under darkness the mating count was lower than under light conditions. There was no way to differentiate the night and day rhythms of mating on different days in each regime, except for mating under 12h light:12h dark alternating with light gradient, constant dark and 12h dark:12h light conditions. Mating increased in certain light and temperature conditions, in which the intensities should have an optimum value.  相似文献

Photoacclimation dynamics to bright light was studied in the symbiotic reef-building coral Stylophora pistillata. Coral colonies were collected from shallow shaded sites (2 m, 40–20% PARs) from a fringing reef at Sesoko Island, Okinawa, Japan. Outer branches were broken off from the colonies and placed in an outdoor aquarium until the start of the experiments. After maintenance of the branches in an aquarium under a light intensity of 30% PARs for 30 days (experiment 1) or for 90 days (experiment 2), the samples were exposed to 95% PARs for 120 days in the same aquarium. The population density of zooxanthellae, chlorophyll concentration, locations of zooxanthellae, proliferating zooxanthellae frequency (PZF), and degrading zooxanthellae frequency (DZF) were examined. It was shown that after acclimation of coral branches to bright light, the population density of zooxanthellae, chlorophyll concentration calculated per 1000 polyps, and chlorophyll concentration in zooxanthellae decreased. The size of zooxanthellae significantly decreased. A decrease in the population density of zooxanthellae was detected by the eighth day of acclimation, and stabilization in the density of the symbionts occurred in the period from the 40th to the 60th day of the experiment. The chlorophyll concentration in zooxanthellae significantly decreased by the second day of exposure to bright light and stabilized by the fourth day. The PZF level sharply dropped on the second day, while the DZF level sharply increased and was higher than the PZF level for 40 days of exposure to bright light. We conclude, therefore, that the population density of zooxanthellae is regulated by the rates of two processes: cell division and the cell degradation.  相似文献

The wrasse,Suezichthys gracilis, is a diurnal fish which buries itself in sand during the night-time. The present paper deals with the locomotor activity rhythms ofS. gracilis, examined by using an actograph with infra-red photo-electric switches in a dark room. The fish were kept in eight experimental tanks (each 30l in capacity), with three different bottom conditions: sand (grain size about 1 mm in diameter and 5 cm deep); 1 or 2 stones (about 10cm in diameter) without sand; and transparent acrylic pellets (2 × 2 × 3 mm in size, 5 cm deep). The light intensities were 550–700 lux just above the water surface, decreasing to 21.3% under the acrylic pellets at a water depth of 20cm. The water temperatures were kept at 22.0–25.0°C during the experiments for 7 to 14 days. In the aquarium with bottom sand, diel activity rhythms ofS. gracilis were mostly synchronized to LD (LD12:12; 06:00–18:00 light, 18:00–06:00 dark), free-running activity rhythms continued distinctly under LL (constant illumination), and locomotor activity was greatly suppressed, with disappearance of the activity rhythm, under DD (constant darkness). In the aquarium without sand, locomotor activity ofS. gracilis could be summarized as follows. The fish moved throughout almost the entire period under LD, though more frequent movements were observed in light conditions than in dark ones. Under LL they showed continuous locomotor activity during the experiment, with no obvious periodicity. Under DD the activity of the species was somewhat suppressed, but irregular movement or indistinct periodicity was observed. In the aquarium with transparent acrylic pellets, locomotor activity under LD and DD, respectively, bore a close resemblance to activity patterns under the same light conditions with sand, whilst activity under LL was identical to that under LL without sand. Accordingly, it seems that maintenance of normal activity rhythms in the wrasse was due not only to the darkness, but also to the presence of bottom sand. It therefore seems that the biological clock inS. gracilis is not related to locomotor activity, but to burying behavior.  相似文献

This is the first report on occurrence of Biomphalaria straminea in the district of S?o José de Almeida (municipality of Jaboticatubas) State of Minas Gerais, Brazil. The presence of B. glabrata and B. tenagophila had already been reported in this area. Such municipality is part of the metropolitan region of Belo Horizonte and comprises 60% of the Tourist Complex of Serra do Cipó. Since the 1950s throughout the 1990s, a schistosomiasis prevalence ranging from 15 to 40% has been observed. Although no B. straminea specimen has been found naturally infected in the region, descendants of these snails collected in the area, showed to be experimentally susceptible to Schistosoma mansoni infection reaching rates from 14.6 to 28.6%. Even not being found naturally infected, in the State of Minas Gerais, the possibility that the species B. straminea may keep endemicity foci of schistosomiasis should be regarded, as in the Northeastern region of Brazil where the high density of this planorbid and the social-economic and sanitary conditions enable to the transmission.  相似文献

The abundance of snail hosts and the rates of infection with Schistosoma mansoni were monitored monthly for four years in two representative localities subjected to repeated chemotherapy of infected persons. Snail abundance varied from 1.0 to 4.4 collected per person/minute/station for Biomphalaria straminea and from 0.1 to 7.0 for B. glabrata. Infection rates of snails in nature varied from 0% to 15% for the former and from 0% to 70% for the latter species. Human infection increased from 35.5% to 61.9% in the locality occupied by B. straminea, and decreased from 40.3% to 20.8% in that occupied by B. glabrata. No relationship could be detected between human infection and the snail variables. Despite seasonal variations, natural infection persisted throughout the monitoring period in both snail species. It reached remarkably high levels in B. straminea when compared to those obtained by other authors probably because of differences in methodology. It is recommended that longitudinal studies should be carried out focally and periodically to avoid underestimating the prevalence of schistosome infection in snails.  相似文献

The morphological and physiological plasticity to 6 light conditions was investigated for seedlings of 4 tree species dominating at different successional serals in subalpine coniferous forests in eastern Qinghai-Tibet Plateau, China. Abies faxoniana is a late successional species, while Betula albo-sinensis is a pioneer tree species, with Picea asperata and Acer davidii among other mid-late successional species. To compare the responses of photosynthetic characters to different growth light conditions, the seedlings were potted and placed in artificially shaded chambers with gradients of 100%, 55%, 40%, 25%, 15% and 7% of the full sunlight, respectively. During two and a half years' cultivation, various morphological and photosynthetic parameters were measured and analyzed. The results were: 1) all seedlings of the four species under the low growth light conditions showed decrease in root collar diameter, relative growth rate, leaf thickness, root mass ratio, leaf area-based photosynthetic capacity, dark respiration rate, light saturation point and light compensation point, while showed increase in specific leaf area, above-ground to under-ground mass ratio, specific stem length, leaf mass ratio and stem mass ratio; 2) under most light conditions, A. faxoniana of the two conifers revealed lower values in both leaf area-based photosynthetic capacity and respiration rates than P. asperata; the same fact held true for the two broad-leaved trees with lower values observed in B. albo-sinensis; 3) under higher light conditions, relative growth rates of P. asperata and B. albo-sinensis got higher values than those of A. faxoniana and A. davidii, while contrary results were obtained under lower light regimes; 4) the means of phenotypic plastic indices of the eleven morphological and physiological parameters of P. asperata and B. albo-sinensis were higher than those of A. faxoniana and A. davidii, respectively. The findings indicate that A. faxoniana has better adaptation to low light regimes, but as a shade-tolerant species, it is not so adapted to low light regimes as the trees of earlier successional serals, especially P. asperata and B. albo-sinensis. Of the four tree species, physiological plastic indices were higher than morphological plastic indices, suggesting that morphological plasticity plays an important role in their adaptation to different growth light conditions. The results also support the hypothesis that ecophysiological traits of tree species determine their successional status and associate habitats of their seedlings.  相似文献

在室内模拟条件下,研究了一些生态因子对藻-菌(A+B)生态系统代谢有机碳(C6H12O6)、NH3-N和无机磷(IP)的影响.研究结果表明,当藻-菌生态系统中藻(A)或菌(B)的起始数量一定时,其代谢C6H12O6的速率,随与之组合的B或A的起始数量增加(数量比则相应降低)而增加.在光照和黑暗条件下,A+B系统代谢上述3种营养物质的速率均有一定的差异.黑暗下C6H12O6的平均代谢速率较光照下高12.3%(P<0.05),IP和NH3-N的平均代谢速率则分别较光照下低14.4%(P<0.05)和16.2%(P<0.001).在A+B系统和A、B单培养物中,3种营养物质的代谢速率均随有机负荷量增加而增加,而且A+B系统的代谢速率分别高于单培养的A和B,其中NH3-N代谢尤为显著.文章还就生态系统结构与功能的关系问题进行了讨论.  相似文献

In Colombia, five Biomphalaria planorbid species are known: B. kuhniana, B. straminea, B. peregrina, B. canonica and B. oligoza(var. B. philippiana). Among them, B. straminea is intermediate host of Schistosoma mansoni and B. peregrina has been found to be experimentally susceptible to this parasite. B. straminea is commonly confused with B. kuhniana and they have been clustered together with B. intermedia in the complex named B. straminea. The difficulties involved in the specific identification, based on morphological data, have motivated the use of new techniques as auxiliary tools in cases of inconclusive morphological identification of such planorbid. In the present study, five Biomphalaria populations from the Colombian Amazon region and from Interandian Valleys were morphologically identified and characterized by polymerase chain reaction-restriction fragment lenght polymorphism directed at the internal transcribed spacer region of the rRNA gene, followed by digestion of the generated fragment with restriction enzymes (DdeI, AluI, RsaI, MvaI and HaeIII). Known profiles of the Brazilian species B. straminea, B. peregrina, B. kuhniana, B. intermedia and B. amazonica, besides B. kuhniana from Colombia, were used for comparison. The five populations under study were morphologically and molecularly identified as B. kuhniana and B. amazonica.  相似文献

The effect of photoperiod on the growth of juvenile Siberian sturgeon Acipenser baerii has been studied in aquarium experiments. The maximum growth rate of juvenile Siberian sturgeon was observed under 12, 16, and 24 h photoperiods. This was accompanied by high respiratory rate and total food consumption and conversion. Rearing in the dark significantly decreased these indices. The hematological indices were within the normal range under optimal photoperiodic conditions. Pronounced neutrophilia and leukopenia were observed in the absence of light.  相似文献
