A species of Sartidia De Winter, first collected by P.J. Muller in 1972 in the Cythna Letty Nature Reserve in Mpumalanga, does not match existing material of Sartidia, a genus comprising four species. The new species, S. dewinteri J. Munday & L. Fish, is most similar to S. jucunda (Schweick.) De Winter but differs in the leaf sheath colour, lower leaf blade surface texture, spikelet length and upper glume length. It differs also from all other species in the genus in the shape and branching of the inflorescence, the relative length of the lateral awns to the median awn, lemma body surface texture, callus shape and hair arrangement, palea shape and distribution. Sartidia dewinteri differs anatomically from S. angolensis and S. vanderystii in that the stereome strands in the leaf blades project partly or almost completely into the first order vascular bundles rather than not at all, and from S. jucunda by having 3 rather than 5 first order vascular bundles in the leaf. Sartidia dewinteri is known only from ultramafic soils of the Barberton Greenstone Belt and is thus considered a serpentine endemic. The IUCN conservation status of S. dewinteri is considered to be Lower Risk — least concern, although some of its ultramafic habitat is under threat from afforestation and the after effects of mining.  相似文献

Inflorescences of Tripsacum dactyloides (L.) L. (Andropogoneae) are characterized by single female spikelets at one to several basal nodes and paired male spikelets at several nodes above them on each raceme. Female spikelets are one-flowered and male spikelets are two-flowered. A sex form variant was found in a wild population in north central Kansas and classified as T. dactyloides (L.) L. forma prolificum Dayton et Dewald. The variant of this native distant relative of maize (Zea mays L. spp. mays) differs from the normal form by having both pistillate and perfect rather than staminate spikelets in the terminal (tassel) portion of the inflorescence and by having two functional pistillate florets in the basal spikelets instead of one. A recessive major gene at a single locus regulates the change of the inflorescence from monoecious to gynomonoecious.  相似文献

A new species of Gentianella, G. tumailica sp. nov., from Tumail in the Kargil district of Ladakh, northwest Himalaya, India is described and illustrated. This novelity is morphologically similar to the sympatric G. stoliczka in inflorescence pattern, calyx and corolla shapes, sagitate anthers, more or less rounded seeds, but differs in smaller size of vegetative and floral structures, larger basal leaves, few cauline leaves, leaf apex obtuse to rounded, calyx lobes unequal (2 longer, 3 shorter), inflorescence enveloped by 4 foliaceous bracts, capsule elliptic to oblong and seed coat smooth. In addition, a diagnostic key to all Indian species of Gentianella is presented.  相似文献

Impatiens pterocaulis S. X. Yu et L. R. Zhang, a new species of the Balsaminaceae from Yancha, Longlin, Guangxi Region, is described and illustrated. This species is similar to I. wilsonii in having nearly white flowers, 4 lateral sepals and a racememos inflorescence, but differs by having winged stems, very short‐spurred lower sepal, yellowish flowers and an acuminate dorsal petal apex. Pollen characters and leaf epidermal micro‐characters of these two species were studied, and the results support that the two species should be kept separate.  相似文献

In India, 55 species of Berberis have been reported and 22 species are found in Uttarakhand state. Berberis rawatii (Berberidaceae), a new species from Chamoli and Pithoragarh districts of Uttarakhand state of India (western Himalaya) is here described and illustrated. In terms of leaf and inflorescence, Berberis rawatii shows affinities with B. cretica L. Both these species have entire leaves, fascicled inflorescences, conspicuous style and black berries, but B. rawatii differs in the presence of a petiole, the dorsal surface of leaf pruinose, presence of elongated‐ovate glands, presence of prophylls, three ovules and pruinose fruits.  相似文献

Fluorescent antibody (FA) preparations were developed and tested as an approach to recognition and enumeration of a specific unicellular bluegreen alga in a natural ecosystem. Antibodies made against an axenic culture of Synechococcus cedrorum Näg. gave a high agglutination titer and an excellent homologous staining reaction. Antibody specificity was tested with 28 heterologous cultures of bluegreen algae, known cultures of chemoautotrophic bacteria and heterotrophic bacteria, and randomly selected unknown bacteria from soil, sewage and aquatic habitats. FA staining of bluegreen algae was restricted to S. cedrorum and six heterologous isolates, all indistinguishable microscopically from S. cedrorum. The ability to enumerate S. cedrorum FA-reactive cells in nature was demonstrated with data on population densities for samples taken from water columns of stratified holomictic lakes in northcentral Minnesota.  相似文献

One new species, Rhododendron subroseum Xiang Chen & Jiayong Huang, and one new variety, R. denudatum var. glabriovarium Xiang Chen & Xun Chen (Ericaceae), from the Guizhou Province, China are described and illustrated. Rhododendron subroseum is most similar to R. morii from which it differs mainly by having glandular branchlets, a subcordate leaf blade base and a mucronate leaf blade apex, a less floriferous inflorescence, a campanulate to broadly‐campanulate corolla, and a glandular‐hairy style. Rhododendron denudatum var. glabriovarium differs from R. denudatum var. denudatum mainly by having a glabrous ovary. Both of the new taxa are quite rare and therefore their protection is highly desired.  相似文献
