Asterosporium orientale, described on Betula ermanii, is transferred to the genus Prosthemium, and a new combination, P. orientale, is proposed. The Palaeotropical goniine genus Dolichocolon Brauer & Bergenstamm is revised and analysed cladistically. Seventeen new species are described from Australia (Queensland, Northern Territory), Cameroon, China, the Democratic Republic of Congo, Ethiopia, Japan, Papua New Guinea, Senegal, Thailand, Uganda, Yemen, and Zimbabwe. The following new synonymy is proposed after direct comparison of primary types: Dolichocolon klapperichi Mesnil, 1967 = Dolichocolon orientale Townsend, 1927 syn. nov. A key to the 21 known species is presented. A cladistic analysis based on 36 morphological characters provides support for the monophyly of Dolichocolon. A sister‐group relationship is indicated between Dolichocolon and Kuwanimyia Townsend, whereas Dolichocolon chiangmaiensis sp. nov. from Thailand takes a position as sister group to all other Dolichocolon species. © 2011 The Linnean Society of London, Zoological Journal of the Linnean Society, 2011, 162 , 544–584.  相似文献

The Asian pine gall rust, which has hitherto been assigned toCronartium quercuum distributed in North America, is described asC. orientale, sp. nov. The spermogonial and aecial states occur on hard pines, and the uredinial and telial states occur on various oaks.Cronartium orientale has globose, almost hyaline basidiospores in contrast to the ellipsoid, yellow-orange ones of North AmericanC. quercuum s.l. Abstract

The pollen morphology of the Iberian taxa of the genus Xanthium s.l. and of the non-Iberian species X. ambrosioides was studied to help to identify these poisonous, allergenic and invasive taxa and clarify their taxonomic relationships. In addition, the question of the existence and structure of a mesoaperture in the apertural system of Xanthium was also considered. The pollen grains of sections Acanthoxanthium and Xanthium clearly differ by their characters, which supports the separation of both taxa and allows for their distinction based on pollen morphology. It is suggested that the morphological and palynological differences between Xanthium and Acanthoxanthium, together with the lack of hybridisation between the two sections and the monophyly of Acanthoxanthium, could lead to the elevation of the latter to the generic status. The two species of section Xanthium present in the Iberian Peninsula (X. orientale and X. strumarium) and of section Acanthoxanthium are well separated by their palynological features. Likewise, the Iberian subspecies of Xanthium, X. orientale subsp. orientale and X. orientale subsp. italicum are palynologically distinguishable. However, no significant difference could be found between the pollen of X. strumarium subsp. strumarium and of X. strumarium subsp. brasilicum. The pollen data do not support the hypotheses of a hybrid origin for X. strumarium subsp. brasilicum. A mesoaperture intersecting the foot layer and the upper part of the endexine is present in both sections, which is congruent with the results already found for other Asteroideae.  相似文献

Although it is widely recognized that oligotrich ciliates are the dominant constituent of microzooplankton communities and perform key functions in energy flow and material cycling in marine microbial food webs, knowledge of their diversity is scant. In the present study, we investigate the oligotrich genera, Cyrtostrombidium and Apostrombidium, with emphasis on their morphology and evolutionary relationships. Three isolates were collected from coastal waters of northern and southern China including two new species, viz., Cyrtostrombidium paraboreale sp. n., Apostrombidium orientale sp. n., and Apostrombidium pseudokielum Xu et al., 2009. Cyrtostrombidium paraboreale sp. n. is characterized by possessing 64–98 cytopharyngeal rods and two macronuclear nodules. Apostrombidium orientale sp. n. is characterized by its somatic kinety consisting of five fragments including a horizontally orientated subterminal fragment and possessing conspicuously long dorsal cilia. Apostrombidium pseudokielum is redescribed based on the new population and a re-examination of the type material. Phylogenetic analyses were performed for the subclass Oligotrichia, incorporating SSU rRNA gene sequences of the three species investigated here. The results indicate that the genus Cyrtostrombidium is monophyletic with C. paraboreale sp. n. occupying the basal position. The genus Apostrombidium is not monophyletic as Varistrombidium kielum is nested within it.  相似文献

Doronicum caucasicum M. Bieb. (Compositae: Senecioneae) is described and illustrated for the second time in the history of Curtis's Botanical Magazine. Critical examination and reading of the works in which the protologues were published has led to the conclusion that D. caucasicum was published earlier than D. orientale Hoffm., but it is highly likely that the two names were based on the same Adams collection that Adams had annotated as Doronicum orientale. The possibility of Doronicum L. being the sole genus in the recently proposed tribe Doroniceae Panero is discussed. The lack of any present infrageneric classification is commented upon, but this is probably due to insufficient characters in the multivariate analyses used, and where the limits are drawn in molecular analyses. Cultivation and propagation guidelines for the species are provided and currently availability of cultivars is outlined, as are likely pests and diseases.  相似文献

Hybridisation is considered an important evolutionary phenomenon in Gnaphalieae, but contemporary hybridisation has been little explored within the tribe. Here, hybridisation between Helichrysum orientale and Helichrysum stoechas is studied at two different localities in the islands of Crete and Rhodes (Greece). Using three different types of molecular data (AFLP, nrDNA ITS sequences and cpDNA ndhF sequences) and morphological data, the aim is to provide simultaneous and direct comparisons between molecular and morphological variation among the parental species and the studied hybrid populations. AFLP profiles, ITS sequences and morphological data support the existence of hybrids at the two localities studied, shown as morphological and genetic intermediates between the parental species. Chloroplast DNA sequences show that both parental species can act either as pollen donor or as maternal parent. Fertility of hybrids is demonstrated by the viability of seeds produced by hybrids from both localities, and the detection of a backcross specimen to H. orientale. Although there is general congruence of morphological and molecular data, the analysis of morphology and ITS sequences can fail to detect backcross hybrids.  相似文献

Summary Chromosome behaviour at meiosis, isozyme studies and analysis of the chloroplast DNA restriction fragments were used to assess the phylogenetic relations among the three Papaver species of the section Oxytona. The multivalents observed in diplotene — diakinesis stages of meiosis of the hexaploid P. pseudo-orientale and its tetraploid hybrid with P. bracteatum indicate the autopolyploid nature of this section. Further evidence supporting this conclusion was obtained from isozyme analysis. The same number of isozymes was expressed in all the species regardless of their ploidy level. Inheritance studies conducted with Pgi, Dia and Acp allozymes demonstrated, for the first time, the transfer and expression of genetic material among these species. The differences found in the chloroplast DNA restriction fragments of the Oxytona species and of P. somniferum indicate intensive evolution of the chloroplast DNA in the genus Papaver. The similarity of the chloroplast DNA restriction patterns and of the isozymes in P. orientale and P. pseudo-orientale suggested that P. orientale was the female parent in the cross generating P. pseudo-orientale and that the latter species is of recent origin.Contribution no. 2199 —E, 1987 series from the Agricultural Research Organization, The Volcani center, Bet Dagan 50 250, Israel  相似文献

蕨类植物碳氮磷化学计量特征及其与土壤养分的关系   总被引:1,自引:0,他引:1  
为探讨蕨类植物碳氮磷化学计量特征与土壤养分的关系,对福建省亚热带森林林下芒萁和乌毛蕨地上部分和地下部分的碳、氮、磷(C、N、P)含量和0~10 cm和10~20 cm两个土层的养分含量进行了测定。结果表明,无论是芒萁还是乌毛蕨,地上部分的N、P含量均高于地下部分,而C含量则无显著差异,导致地上部分的C∶N和C∶P均低于地下部分。与乌毛蕨相比,芒萁地上部分的N、P含量更低,地上和地下部分的C含量、C∶N和C∶P以及N、P含量的变异系数和表型可塑性指数则更高,表明芒萁采取了较高的养分利用效率和"表现最大化"的策略,而乌毛蕨则选择了较低的养分利用效率和"表现维持"的方式。两种蕨类植物地上和地下部分的N含量与土壤N含量(0~20 cm)均无显著相关。芒萁两个部位的P含量则均与土壤P含量(0~10 cm和10~20 cm)呈显著正相关,乌毛蕨P含量总体上与土壤P含量的相关性不显著(除地下部分的P含量与10~20 cm土层的P含量呈弱的正相关外)。这表明芒萁具有作为亚热带森林土壤P库指示植物的潜力。  相似文献

Abstract

The first unambiguous documentation of hybridism in the genus Doronicum (Senecioneae – Asteraceae) is reported. All our morphological, karyological and molecular data concur to indicate that Doronicum × minutilloi Peruzzi hybr. nov. (2n = 60) is a hybrid growing in Monti Aurunci (Central Italy), originated from the spontaneous crossing D. orientale Hoffm. (2n = 60) × D. columnae Ten. (2n = 60). This new hybrid shows a slightly higher morphological, karyotypic and ribotypic affinity with D. columnae, but shares a trnL-trnF IGS haplotype with D. orientale, and co-occurs with the latter species only; it has reduced fertility and a high potential for vegetative propagation through rhizome fragmentation. Our results led us to suspect in fieri homoploid hybrid speciation.  相似文献

Members of the Watanabea clade of Trebouxiophyceae are genetically diverse and widely distributed in all kinds of habitats, especially in most terrestrial habitats. Ten new strains of terrestrial algae isolated from the tropical rainforest in China, and four published strains were investigated in this study. Morphological observation and molecular phylogenetic analyses based on the 18S, ITS, rbcL, and tufA genes were used to identify the new strains. Four previously described species were reinvestigated to supplement molecular data and autospores’ morphological photographs. The phylogenetic analyses based on 18S only, the concatenated dataset of 18S and ITS, as well as the concatenated dataset of rbcL and tufA, showed the same phylogenetic positions and relationships of these new strains. According to the phylogenetic analysis and morphological comparisons results, we described these 10 strains as four new members within the Watanabea clade, Polulichloris yunnanensis sp. nov., Polulichloris ovale sp. nov., Massjukichlorella orientale sp. nov., and Massjukichlorella minus sp. nov., and two known species, Massjukichlorella epiphytica, and Mysteriochloris nanningensis. Additionally, we provide strong evidence proving that Phyllosiphon, Mysteriochloris, Polulichloris, and Desertella all reproduce through unequal sized autospores.  相似文献

In the present work, three varieties of Teucrium orientale, var. orientale, var. puberulens, and var. glabrescens, were collected and investigated for chemical composition of the oils. Subsequent gas chromatography (GC‐FID) and gas chromatography coupled to mass spectrometry (GC/MS) revealed high abundance of sesquiterpenes in the essential oils analyzed. All the oils contained β‐caryophyllene (22.6, 8.5, and 6.3%, resp.) and hexadecanoic acid (7.9, 12.8, and 13.1%). Germacrene D (24.6 and 33.4%) and bicyclogermacrene (6.7 and 8.5%) were found to be the main constituents of var. orientale and var. puberulens, respectively. The high percentages of β‐cubebene (26.9%), α‐cubebene (9.0%), and α‐copaene (7.2%) established the diversity of var. glabrescens. The qualitative difference between the essential oils allowed the differentiation between the varieties in agreement with the morphological observations described in Flora of Turkey for each variety studied. In addition, a cluster analysis of twelve Teucrium taxa based on the essential‐oil composition has been carried out. Hovewer, the analysis did not clearly reflect the infrageneric classification of the genus, it largely confirmed the relationships between the infraspecific taxa of Teucrium orientale and T. chamaedrys.  相似文献

The systematic position and phylogenetic relationships of Echium orientale, a rare endemic of the mountains of northern Turkey, were elucidated based on morphological, molecular, and karyological evidence.

Using nuclear and plastid DNA sequences, we found that this species is not included in Echium, but is rather at least as divergent from it as other related lineages, namely the South African Lobostemon and Echiostachys. Pollen characters revealed a strong affinity with Onosma, especially in the non-reticulate ornamentation of the tectum. Fruit morphology is unique in the genera of the Echium ‘alliance' (e.g. Echium, Pontechium, Lobostemon, and Echiostachys), because of the large size and the smooth, glossy nutlet surface as in most species of Onosma. Karyological observations show that this species is diploid with 2n = 12, and differing from both Lobostemon or Echium, where nearly all species have higher numbers (usually 2n = 14 and 2n = 16, respectively). Combined with a ‘megaherb' habit, the weak zygomorphism of the large flowers and a restricted range in the humid mountain forests of the Black Sea region, fruit, pollen and chromosome characters suggest an isolated position for E. orientale in the Echium alliance. We therefore propose its placement in the monotypic Megacaryon, a genus originally described by Boissier, but largely disregarded by later botanists. An original specimen is designated as generic lectotype.  相似文献

Summary Chromosome behaviour at meiosis was studied in the F1, F2, and backcross generations, in the three species of Papaver section Oxytona, and in artificially induced autopolyploids of P. bracteatum. Close homology was found between the genome of P. bracteatum and that of the two polyploid species, P. orientale and P. pseudo-orientale, suggesting that the P. bracteatum genome is present in both polyploid species. A genetic mechanism controlling bivalent pairing in the polyploid species is suggested. A new species Dendrocalamus menglongensis Hsueh & K. L. Wang ex N. H. Xia, R. S. Lin &Y. B. Guo is described and illustrated from Xishuangbanna, Yunnan, China. It differs from D. giganteus by e.g. shorter internodes, 4–5 florets, a perfect terminal floret and persistent culm sheaths. Angelica muliensis (Apiaceae), a new species from Sichuan Province, southwest China, is described and illustrated. The new species resembles A. biserrata, but differs in the shapes of the leaflets and sheaths, umbel number and size and especially mericarp features. Myosotis wumengensis, a distinct new species endemic to Yunnan Province, China, is described and illustrated. The new species differs from all Myosotis species in China by having exserted anthers and a long corolla tube. Phylogenetic analysis confirms the generic position of the new species.
