Summary T. mentagrophytes var.quinckeanum was isolated from a case of equine tinea and this finding is thought to be unique. Although it is considered that the fungus is closely related toT. mentagrophytes, the small differences in the relative pathogenicity for animals and man, the unusual clinical pattern which can be seen, and the downy nature of primary isolates on Sabouraud's medium are features not to be expected withT. mentagrophytes infections. The ability of this fungus to produce green fluorescence in the hairs of infected guinea pigs is felt to be its most unique feature and warrants its separate identity asT. mentagrophytes var.quinckeanum.  相似文献

Summary Seventy cases of dermatomycosis due toTrichophyton tonsurans (21 cases) andT. sulfureum (49 cases) were found in rural Quebec east of Rimouski during field investigations from 1956–1961. There are no immigrants in this area and endothrix ringworm has been present for at least three consecutive generations.Lesions due toT. tonsurans were restricted to the scalp, whereasT. sulfureum caused infections of the scalp, scalp and body or body alone. Both organisms were isolated from scalp infections of adults, 14 % of theT. tonsurans infections and 20 % of those due toT. sulfureum.Mixed infections due toT. tonsurans plusT. schönleinii andT. sulfureum plusM. canis were found.Each community, save one, harboured only one endothrix species, eitherT. tonsurans orT. sulfureum.These investigations were supported by a National Health Grant, Project 604-9-49.  相似文献

A monoclonal antibody (Tq-1) that interacts with the phosphorylcholine (PC)-bearing antigens of Trichophyton quinckeanum was produced by fusion of myeloma cells (JKAg-8) with spleen cells of BALB/c mice immunized with an alum-precipitated fraction of T. quinckeanum cytoplasmic antigen. It was characterized as an IgM class antibody by immunodiffusion using anti-Ig heavy chain specific reagents, ELISA using immunoglobulin-specific peroxidase-conjugated antibodies, and by gel filtration chromatography; it showed high affinity for Staphylococcus aureus protein-A. Interaction of Tq-1 with PC-like antigens of T. quinckeanum was demonstrated by inhibition studies using ELISA, immunoblotting, immunoprecipitation and immuno electron microscopy techniques. The binding activity of Tq-1 antibody with a range of dermatophyte proteins was completely inhibited by prior incubation with PC hapten. Moreover, dermatophyte antigens reacting with the monoclonal antibody reacted strongly with sera from chronically infected mice. Dermatophyte antigens derived from both young (24 h) and old (20 d) cultures reacted with Tq-1 and this binding was inhibited by PC, suggesting that Tq-1 target antigen PC appears at an early stage during fungal growth and remains throughout its life.  相似文献

The serological reactivities of polysaccharides isolated from five species of dermatophytes, Microsporum quinckeanum, Trichophyton granulosum, T. interdigitale, T. rubrum, and T. schoenleinii, with rabbit antisera to these species were studied qualitatively by precipitation in gel and quantitatively by complement-fixation analyses. Significant differences in the serological reactivities of the galactomannans I were detected with antisera to T. schoenleinii and T. interdigitale. The differences appeared to be related to the specificity of these antisera for the galactofuranose residues in the polysaccharides. Antisera to M. quinckeanum, T. granulosum, or T. rubrum did not detect differences between the galactomannans I. The serological reactivities of the galactomannans II were different with each of the five antisera. The reactivities of the glucans could be correlated with the amount of alpha 1 --> 6 linked glucopyranose residues when antisera to T. schoenleinii and M. quinckeanum were used.  相似文献

The contribution of terminal galactofuranose residues to the antigenic specificity and to cross-reactivity of galactomannans isolated from five species of dermatophytes, Microsporum quinckeanum, Trichophyton granulosum, T. interdigitale, T. rubrum, and T. schoenleinii, was investigated. Galactofuranose units were removed from galactomannans I and galactomannans II by mild acid hydrolysis. The resulting mannans were tested for serological reactivity with rabbit antiserum to M. quinckeanum by qualitative precipitation in gel and by quantitative complement-fixation analyses. Our results showed that, with this antiserum, the galactofuranose residues contributed greatly to the antigenic specificity and to cross-reactivity of the galactomannans II, but these residues were less significant as antigenic determinants in the galactomannans I. We have shown that mannans isolated from three Candida species reacted with rabbit antiserum to M. quinckeanum.  相似文献
