In this study, the morphological and anatomical features of endemic Lamium moschatum Miller var. rhodium (Gand.) R. Mill (Lamiaceae) are described in detail. Lamium moschatum var. rhodium has an annual taproot. The stem is erect and clearly quadrangular. The leaves are broadly ovate to cordate-ovate or nearly suborbicular in shape. Inflorescense is verticillate cyme. The corolla is white and the tube is curved and bears an annulus inside, near the base. Cross-sections of the root, stem, petiole, leaf, calyx, corolla and generative organs were examined and the anatomical features of the taxon are discussed. Furthermore, glandular hairs distributed on the plant taxon are shown. In karyological research, chromosome numbers were determined as 2n = 18. The results are presented with photographs and tables.  相似文献

Teucrium montanum L. and T. polium L. are the two closest Teucrium L. species from sect. Polium (Mill.) Schreb in Turkey. In addition, they are sympatric for some part of their range in Turkey. In this study, comparative anatomical and micromorphological studies of the two species are carried out. They have been investigated by their leaf and stem anatomical features, as well as nutlet micromorphological characteristics. The results of anatomical studies show that the anatomical characters of both taxa are observed to be similar to the general features of the family Lamiaceae anatomy, except for lacking rich collenchyma at the corners. Both taxa are similar in stem anatomy and their leaves exhibit xeromorphy. However, trichome morphology on the stems and the leaves appear to have a taxonomic value in segregation of the two taxa. Light and scanning electron microscope studies on the nutlets also show that nutlet shapes, measures and surface micromorphologies are different in the two species. Whereas nutlet surfaces are bireticulate in both species, the nutlets are larger and primary sculpturing is more distinct in T. polium than in T. montanum. Moreover, the nutlets are oblong to oblong-ovoid and larger in T. polium, but ovoid and smaller in T. montanum.  相似文献

The morphological, anatomical and palynological features of Asyneuma michauxioides (Boiss.) Damboldt (Campanulaceae) were investigated. This species is an East Mediterranean Floristic Element and an endemic in Turkey. In anatomical studies, cross-sections of the root and stem were examined and demonstrated by photographs. It has conspicuous endodermis in which the Casparian bands are indistinct in the stem. According to the result of this study, it was found that pollen grain of this taxon was 3-porate sometimes 4-porate and oblate-spheroidal. Its structure was tectate and sculpture was small granules and pits with densely spaced spinules. The seeds of the taxon were eliptic to ovate in shape, laterally compressed, brown to light brown in colour, glabrous and shiny.  相似文献

In this study, morphological and anatomical features of Ornithogalum nutans and O. boucheanum, two relative and morphologically similar species growing in European Turkey, were investigated. These species showed some important anatomical differences with regard to leaf anatomy while they have identical features in stem. The stem anatomy of these two species displays the common properties of monocotyledons. The mesophyll is unifacial and contains monotypic chlorenchyma cells in the leaf of O. nutans. It has no lacunae. The mesophyll in O. boucheanum is equifacial and it has lacunae. This anatomical distinction may be useful for the identification of these similar-looking species.  相似文献

The gross anatomical features, namely stem, blade and petiole and the micromorphological features, trichome, pollen and nutlet of Salvia vermifolia Hedge & Hub.-Mor. (Sect. Aethiopis Bentham, Lamiaceae) were examined using light microscopy (LM) and scanning electron microscopy (SEM). S. vermifolia is a perennial endemic herb growing on igneous and serpentine slopes in Sivas province, Central Anatolia, Turkey. The results obtained from anatomical studies show that the stem is made up of 4–8-layers of collenchyma cells and 1-3-layers chlorenchyma cells. The blade is amphistomatic, bifacial, with 2-3-layered palisade cells on the adaxial. The petiole has three large central bundles and six small subsidiary bundles. Peltate glandular, capitate glandular and non-glandular trichomes are present in S. vermifolia. The peltate glandular trichomes are present in abundance on the calyx and corolla, and capitate glandular trichomes are predominant on the calyx, inflorescence axis, pedicel and stem. The acicular non-glandular trichomes are mainly situated on the calyx, corolla, inflorescence axis and pedicels whereas the floccose non-glandular trichomes are common on both sides of the leaf, inflorescence axis and petiole. The pollen grains are hexacolpate to octacolpate, medium to large (P, polar axis=45.29–62.49 μm; E, equatorial axis=45.32-62.38 μm), oblate-spheroidal to prolate-spheroidal (P/E=0.91–1.02) and their exine ornamentation is bireticulate. The nutlets are 2.70–2.90 mm long and 1.90–2.13 mm wide, brown, ovoid-oblong in their outline, rounded-trigonous in transverse section, and their surface is glabrous and colliculate.  相似文献

Lithophytum violaceum Brandegee, until recently known only from a single Mexican collection, has been considered anomalous since it was first described in 1911. This genus was originally assigned to the Solanaceae, but our reexamination of it shows that this relationship is highly unlikely. A plant of xeric habit with small emarginate leaves, it is different from any other known genus. The flowers have five sepals, and the sympetalous corolla is campanulate or salverform. The five equal epipetalous stamens surround a unilocular ovary with two parietal anatropous ovules. Style and stigma are absent, and the locule of the ovary is exposed to the outside by an apical pore. The wood, young stem, leaf, floral anatomy, and pollen were studied in detail, and the aggregate of morphological features accords well with the Verbenaceae.  相似文献

A new species of Lamiaceae, Teucrium ramaswamii M. B. Viswan. & U. Manik. is described from the Kalakkad-Mundanthurai Tiger Reserve (KMTR) in the Agastyamalai hills of the southwestern Ghats in peninsular India. It is allied to T. tomentosum Heyne ex Benth. but differs by stem, leaves and inflorescence being glandular strigose; leaves being deltoid–ovate, crenate–dentate or doubly crenate–dentate at margin, subcoriaceous, sparsely strigose above, densely strigose beneath; bracts being oblong–deltoid, ca 9.4×2.6 mm; calyx with uppermost teeth being lanceolate, ca 2.8×1.9 mm, lateral teeth being broadly triangular, lower teeth being oblong–lanceolate; corolla being glandular strigose outside below lateral lobes and ovary being glandular strigose. Using the IUCN criteria, conservation status of the species is assigned as Critically Endangered based on the field data (2000–2002). Life history studies, population ecology, genome resource banking and wild population management are recommended for conserving this species.  相似文献

The leaf, stem, root, tuber and dropper anatomy of the orchid tribe Diseae (including the subtribes Satyriinae, Disinae, Brownlecinac, Huttonaeinae and Coryciinae) is reviewed. The study is largely based on investigations of 123 species, and data from several previous publications have also been incorporated. Two characters were identified as being taxonomically valuable: (1) the presence of sclerenchyma caps associated with leaf vascular bundles, and (2) the degree of dissection of the siphonostele of the tuber ('polystelic' or 'monostelic'). The phylogenetic analysis shows that anatomical characters do not change the basic structure of a cladogram that is based on morphological characters. The taxa of Diseae are discussed on the basis of anatomical data. Subtribes Satyriinae (excluding the anatomically unusual genus Pachites), Brownleeinae, Huttonaeinae, and Coryciinae are uniform in. critical anatomical characters. However, subtribe Disinae is rather diverse in vegetative anatomy. Disa sect. Micranthae differs from the rest of the genus in its leaf anatomy. The occurrence of foliar sclerenchyma bundle caps and 'polystelic' tubers supports the incorporation of Herschelianthe in Disa sect. Stenocarpa.

Marcgravia rectifolia L. is a dimorphic vine having distinct juvenile and adult shoots. The juvenile shoot is a climber characterized by an orthotropic growth habit, a flattened stem, adventitious roots, and ovate leaves. The adult shoot, on the other hand, possesses a plagiotropic growth habit, has a cylindrical stem, few or no adventitious roots, and lanceolate leaves. Both phases have distichous phyllotaxy, however the plastochron is shorter for the adult phase than for the juvenile. Internode elongation occurs earlier for adult shoots than for juvenile shoots. Cytological analyses show the flattened stem of the juvenile results from differential production of cells, especially in the pith region. On the other hand, internodes of the adult phase are longer than juvenile internodes, a result of more cells produced rather than longer cells. In juvenile stems a perivascular band of elongated fibers develops, while in adult stems this band consists of brachyosclereids. Both phases undergo secondary growth and have non-storied cambia. Cambial activity begins in the 6th internode of each phase. As secondary growth proceeds, the adult stem produces much more xylem than juvenile stems of the same age. Adventitious roots produced in the juvenile stem are located in vertical rows at the “corners” of flattened stems and are attachment structures aiding the climbing habit of this vine. Phase changes occur regularly in this species. The juvenile phase usually transforms into the adult, however the adult phase can spontaneously revert back into the juvenile phase. The anatomical features and the phase changes are discussed and compared to Hedera helix, a vine whose phase changes have been studied in some detail. It is suggested that the anatomical features of Marcgravia rectifolia L. including its phase changes, may provide an alternative system to study physiological changes similar to those done with Hedera helix.  相似文献

Morphological and ITS sequence divergence were assessed between the two presently recognized taxa of the endemic genusCuminia (Lamiaceae), on Masatierra of the Juan Fernandez Islands. Morphological studies were based on leaf morphology of 51 individuals. Individuals ofC. fernandezia have narrow and lanceolate leaves with cuneate to acute bases and apices, whereas individuals ofC. eriantha have broadly ovate leaves with rounded bases and acute to obtuse apices. The two taxa can also be distinguished by the presence of pubescence.Cuminia eriantha has hairs on the leaves, young stems, floral peduncles, calyx, and corolla. Alternatively,C. fernandezia is glabrous except for tuft hairs on the nodes, and hairs on calyx teeth and corolla tubes. The ITS 1 and 2 regions of the five plants ofCuminia sequenced are a total of 451 bp long. All plants have identical ITS-1 but pubescent and glabrous plants are consistently different in ITS-2 sequence, revealing 1.3% total sequence divergence between the species. Both morphological and molecular data support the taxonomic recognition of two taxa, and the small but consistent differences appear to justify species status for the two entities. The pubescent populations representC. eriantha and the glabrous ones areC. fernandezia. It is hypothesized that the species diverged from a common ancestral immigrant to the islands, when Masatierra was much larger and more ecologically diverse than it now is. The two taxa seem to maintain their identities with no evidence of hybridization, even though they often grow in close proximity to one other on the island. Each population consists only of glabrous or pubescent plants, with no mixed population detected.  相似文献
