Effects of the estrogenic plant isoflavonoid coumestrol (COUM) on locomotor activity and fear-related behaviors in both the absence and the presence of estradiol benzoate (EB) were examined in adult ovariectomized Swiss-Webster mice. In a running wheel paradigm conducted over 10 days, with treatment beginning 12 days prior to testing, daily subcutaneous (sc) injections of 10 microg of COUM did not influence locomotor activity, whereas even the low dose of EB supplied by sc Silastic implant (2.5 microg lasting 5 weeks) produced a significant increase in locomotor activity over animals receiving vehicle alone. In animals receiving both COUM and EB, locomotor activity was significantly diminished compared to the activity observed in animals receiving EB alone. The same animals were also tested in three behavioral paradigms having known activity and fear components (open field, dark/light transition, elevated plus-maze). COUM did not produce significant effects in these assays. However, in an associative fear learning paradigm (fear conditioning), COUM produced significantly less freezing ("fearfulness") in the conditioned fear task than with animals receiving vehicle or a low dose of EB, which did not differ from each other. Unlike EB, which has comparable affinities for estrogen receptor (ER) alpha and ER beta, COUM has a higher affinity for ER beta than for ER alpha. COUM might disrupt estrogen-enhanced locomotor activity by altering the dynamic by which EB acts on the brain through these two ER isoforms. The conditioned fear result suggests that COUM may produce additional effects through alternative pathways.  相似文献

The effects and action mechanisms of estradiol on aldosterone secretion in female rats were studied. Replacement of estradiol benzoate (EB) increased the levels of plasma estradiol and aldosterone in ovariectomized (Ovx) rats. The aldosterone release from zona glomerulosa (ZG) cells was higher in EB-treated rats than in oil-treated animals. EB treatment potentiated the responses of aldosterone release to adrenocorticotropic hormone (ACTH), forskolin (FSK), and 8-bromoadenosine 3',5'-cyclic monophosphate (8-Br-cAMP). Administration of EB in vivo did not alter cAMP production in response to ACTH or FSK. Although angiotensin II (Ang II) increased aldosterone secretion by rat ZG cells, the stimulatory effect of Ang II on the release of aldosterone was not altered by EB treatment. The conversions of [3H]-deoxycorticosterone to [3H]-corticosterone and [3H]-corticosterone to [3H]-aldosterone in EB-treated groups were greater than those in the oil-treated group. These results suggest that estradiol increases aldosterone secretion in part through the mechanisms involving the activation of the post-cAMP pathway, 11beta-hydroxylase and aldosterone synthase activity.  相似文献

The effects of estradiol benzoate (EB) on tyrosine hydroxylase (TH) activity in the medial basal hypothalamus (MBH) and on plasma levels of luteinizing hormone (LH) and prolactin were studied in long-term ovariectomized rats. Administration of 10 μg EB produced significant elevation of TH activity on Days 1 and 3 following injection. LH levels were significantly lower than controls throughout the three day treatment period, although there was a significant increase from Day 1 to Day 2. TH activity and LH levels were inversely related throughout the experimental period. Clomiphene (15 μg/rat/day), a purported estrogen antagonist, was administered over a period of three days to control and EB-treated rats to determine whether the effect of EB on plasma LH levels was causally related to changes in TH activity. In rats receiving both EB and clomiphene, TH activity was lower and plasma LH was higher than after EB alone. The results support the hypothesis that the feedback effects of estradiol on LH release involve an action on the tuberoinfundibular dopaminergic (TIDA) neurons of the MBH and that clomiphene can oppose the inhibitory effect of estradiol on LH release by directly inhibiting TIDA neuron activity. Furthermore, EB-induced release of prolactin does not appear to involve detectable changes in the activity of TIDA neurons.  相似文献

The role of hypothalamic catecholamines and luteinizing hormone releasing hormone (LHRH) in the negative feedback effect of estradiol benzoate (EB) on luteinizing hormone (LH) release was studied in chronic ovariectomized rats. Administration of 10 micrograms EB decreased plasma LH levels and increased LHRH content in the medial basal hypothalamus (MBH) 1 day after injection. Inhibition of dopamine and norepinephrine synthesis with alpha-methyl-p-tyrosine (alpha-MT) reduced the LHRH content in the MBH in both oil- and EB-treated animals and partially reversed the decrease in plasma LH levels. Inhibition of norepinephrine synthesis with fusaric acid decreased LHRH content in both oil- and EB-treated rats but had no effect on plasma LH levels. The results suggest that at least a portion of the inhibitory effect of EB on LH release is due to the stimulation of an inhibitory dopaminergic mechanism which reduces LHRH release from the MBH. This feedback mechanism is apparently not susceptible to dopaminergic receptor blockade since administration of pimozide had no effect on LH levels. The stimulatory feedback effect of EB on prolactin release was studied in the same animals. alpha-MT and EB produced additive effects on plasma prolactin levels whereas fusaric acid blocked the EB-induced increase in plasma prolactin levels. Pimozide appeared to potentiate the effect of EB on prolactin release. The results reconfirm the possible role of noradrenergic neurons in the release of prolactin induced by EB and also suggest that EB stimulates a dopaminergic mechanism which is inhibitory to prolactin release but is normally masked by increased noradrenergic activity.  相似文献

The effect of hormones on the development of Japanese quail during the postembryonic period was examined. First, subcutaneous implants of estradiol monobenzoate (EB) and testosterone propionate (TP) were implanted 6–12 hr after hatching. EB and TP had no effect on the differentiation of sexual behavior in genetic males or females. However, EB had marked feminizing effects on plumage in genetic males. Second, the role of gonadal hormones during development was examined by gonadectomizing males and females 6–12 hr after hatching and treating them intramuscularly with EB or TP as adults. EB-treated adult females displayed sexual behavior typical of the genetic female and developed female plumage. A significant proportion of TP-treated females (57%) displayed male sexual behavior patterns. Cloacal gland development and male-type vocalizations were induced. EB-treated males displayed either male or female sexual patterns depending on the stimulus conditions. Third, to test whether bisexuality in gonadectomized males and females is maintained despite steroid treatment and expression of sexual behavior in adulthood, gonadectomized quail which were originally treated with EB received TP and vice versa. The results indicate that in the absence of gonadal hormones after hatching female quail remain bisexual until exposed to estrogen, whereas gonadectomized male quail retain behavioral bisexuality irrespective of prior estrogen or androgen exposure.  相似文献

The effects of estrogen and progesterone on the social and sexual behavior of brown lemmings, Lemmus trimucronatus, were investigated. The behavior of hormone-treated and untreated ovariectomized females and sexually vigorous males was observed in six consecutive daily 5-min dyadic encounters. Sexual receptivity, as measured by lordosis, and other social behaviors including nasonasal contact, boxing postures, allogrooming, perineal investigation, and male mounting increased following 48 hr of exposure to daily injections of 0.5 μg estradiol benzoate (EB). Lordosis in EB-primed females was not facilitated or inhibited by short-term (4 hr) exposure to 0.5 mg progesterone (P). Long-term (greater than 24 hr) exposure to P apparently inhibited lordosis and other social behaviors in EB-treated females, although males continued to attempt to mount these females. In EB-treated females a dramatic increase in threat-leaps, directed by the female toward the male, was observed within 4 hr of P injection. Threat-leaps declined when P was withdrawn. Threat-leaps were also observed in ovariectomized females after prolonged exposure to P only (0.5 mg/day). Vaginal perforation and cornification were first apparent 48 hr after EB injection. P-alone treated ovariectomized females also showed vaginal perforation but cornified cells were infrequent and these animals did not show lordosis.  相似文献

In this paper, we studied differences in the density of N-methyl-D-aspartate (NMDA) receptor GluN2B subunits in the brains of low (LR) and high (HR) anxiety rats subjected to extinction trials and re-learning of a conditioned fear response, modeling a natural course of anxiety disorders. Classifications of animals as LR or HR was determined by fear-induced freezing responses in the contextual fear test. Increased basal concentrations of GluN2B subunits were observed in the amygdala of HR rats as compared to the unconditioned control group by Western blot analysis. Re-exposure of HR animals to the fear-conditioned context resulted in elevated concentrations of GluN2B subunits in the amygdala, hippocampus and the prefrontal cortex compared to LR rats as well as in the hippocampus and prefrontal cortex vs. the control group. In addition, it was shown that re-test of a conditioned fear increased the number of cells expressing GluN2B subunits in the basolateral amygdala, dentate gyrus of the hippocampus and secondary motor cortex (M2) in the HR group relative to the LR group. Together, these data suggest that animals that are more anxious have altered patterns of GluN2B subunit expression in the frontal cortex and limbic structures, which control emotional behaviour.  相似文献

This review summarizes the latest developments in our understanding of amygdala networks that support classical fear conditioning, the experimental paradigm most commonly used to study learned fear in the laboratory. These recent advances have considerable translational significance as congruent findings from studies of fear learning in animals and humans indicate that anxiety disorders result from abnormalities in the mechanisms that normally regulate conditioned fear. Because of the introduction of new techniques and the continued use of traditional approaches, it is becoming clear that conditioned fear involves much more complex networks than initially believed, including coordinated interactions between multiple excitatory and inhibitory circuits within the amygdala.  相似文献

The present study investigates the effects of the antiestrogen ICI 182,780 (ICI) on the display of sexual behaviors in female rats. ICI 182,780 is a pure anti-estrogen and when given systemically, ICI is thought to act only in the periphery, and is not believed to cross the blood brain barrier. The present study examines the effects of ICI on sexual receptivity and on paced mating behavior following treatment with estradiol benzoate (EB) and progesterone (P) (Experiment 1) or with EB alone (Experiment 2). In Experiment 1, ICI (250.0 microg) did not affect the display of receptivity or paced mating behavior induced by EB and P. In contrast, in Experiment 2 female rats receiving EB alone displayed a decrease in the level of sexual receptivity following treatment with 500.0 and 750.0 microg ICI (but not 250.0 microg ICI). In addition, in Experiment 2 EB-treated female rats receiving 250.0 microg ICI spent more time away from the male rat following an intromission and were more likely to exit from the male compartment following a mount. Last, ICI had potent antiestrogenic effects on vaginal cytology (Experiment 2) and on the uterus (Experiments 1 and 2). The present study supports a role for peripheral estrogen receptors in sexual receptivity and paced mating behavior and suggests that estrogen receptor activation may decrease the aversive sensation associated with sexual stimulation.  相似文献

Multiple sclerosis, an autoimmune inflammatory disease of the central nervous system, is characterized by excessive demyelination. The study aimed to investigate the possible protective effect of ozone (O3) therapy in ethidium bromide (EB)-induced demyelination in rats either alone or in combination with corticosteroids in order to decrease the dose of steroid therapy. Rats were divided into Group (1) normal control rats received saline, Group (2) Sham-operated rats received saline, Group (3) Sham-operated rats received vehicle (oxygen), Group (4) EB-treated rats received EB, Group (5) EB-treated rats received O3, Group (6) EB-treated rats received methylprednisolone (MP), and Group (7) EB-treated rats received half the dose of MP concomitant with O3. EB-treated rats showed a significant increase in the number of footfalls in the grid walk test, decreased brain GSH, and paraoxonase-1 enzyme activity, whereas brain MDA, TNF-α, IL-1β, INF-γ, Cox-2 immunoreactivity, and p53 protein levels were increased. A significant decline in brain serotonin, dopamine, norepinephrine, and MBP immunoreactivity was also reported. Significant improvement of the above-mentioned parameters was demonstrated with the administration of either MP or O3, whereas best amelioration was achieved by combining half the dose of MP with ozone.  相似文献

Models of anxiety and fear of novelty were evaluated using correlations and principal component analysis. A total of 84 pigs (LandracexYorkshire) from nine different litters were subjected to a tonic immobility (TI) test at the age of 2.5 weeks, an elevated plus-maze (EPM) at the age of 6 weeks, a light/dark (L/D) exploration test at the age of 7 weeks and an open-field (OF) test at the age of 8 weeks. The first component from the principal component analysis had the highest correlation with number of entries into open arms in the EPM but was also highly correlated to variables from the other three tests confirming a common aversion-related element in the four experimental tests. The second component was negatively correlated with percent entries into and time spent on open arms in the EPM, but positively correlated with the number of entries into closed arms in the same test, number of lines crossed in the OF and time spent in the lit compartment of the L/D test. The last point illustrates a negative relationship between "anxiety" and "activity" in the EPM and OF. To achieve purer measures of fear of novelty and activity in the tests, the components were rotated using the Varimax criterion. The rotated factor pattern demonstrated a simple structure where variables related to "anxiety" or "fear of novelty" (i.e., percent entries into open arms and time spent on open arms of the EPM) had the highest loading on factor 1, whereas variables related to activity (i.e., number of entries into the closed arms in the EPM, number of lines crossed in the OF and time spent in the lit compartment of the L/D test) had the highest loading on factor 2. TI duration loaded more strongly on factor 1 ("fear of novelty") than on factor 2 ("activity"), but did not represent any pure measure of either fear of novelty or activity. In conclusion, all of the test variables were related to one another. Open-arm avoidance represented the purest measure of fear of novelty, whereas entries into closed arms and number of lines crossed in the OF were the purest measures of activity. The EPM appeared to provide the best way to separate the fear of novelty and activity-related elements, indicating that the EPM may be a useful behavioural model of fear of novelty or avoidance in pigs.  相似文献

Level of sex steroid hormones being changed throughout an estrous cycle influences physiological and behavioral features of female subjects. To test how estrogen and progesterone affect the anxiety level in mice the ovariectomy (OVX) followed by hormone treatment was carried out. After 1 week of recovery period estradiol benzonate (20 micrograms, s/c) was injected once a day during 7 consequent days. By the 7th day in addition to EB injection progesterone (500 micrograms, s/c) was also injected. Four hours later the mice were tested in elevated plus-maze to measure the anxiety level. Control animals were treated with sesame oil only. Behavioral data obtained demonstrate that the hormonal treatment altered anxiety state in experimental animals. In plusmaze paradigm, it has been demonstrated that progesterone-treated mice revealed the lowest level of open arm activity. In contrast, these mice showed the highest grooming activity as compared to other experimental groups. Immunohistochemical data on progesterone receptor (PR), immunoreactivity in brain have shown that the manipulation with different hormonal treatments modified the number of PR-ir cells in many brain areas. Our data suggest that sex steroid hormones play an important role in induction of anxiety level, as measured by elevated plus-maze, and this action might be partially mediated through the classical steroid receptors.  相似文献

In order to examine the effects of estrogen, androgen, and phytoestrogen on maternal behavior induced by exposure to fresh pups in ovariectomized nulliparous rats, 1 mg estradiol benzoate (EB), 1 mg testosterone propionate (TP), 1 mg coumestrol (CM), or oil (female control) was injected subcutaneously daily for 10 days. To elucidate the sex difference, 1 mg EB or oil (male control) was injected in orchidectomized rats by the same method as that used in nulliparous rats. Exposure to fresh pups was started 6 days after the first injection. Behavioral tests were carried out daily for 5 days from the first exposure to the last on the 10th day. In the behavioral test, the onset of retrieving and licking behaviors was recorded. In female control rats, the median onset day of retrieving behavior was day 5. Onset in the EB female group was day 1.5, which was shorter than that in the female control (P<0.05). TP female and CM female rats started to show retrieving at day 5 and day 4.5, respectively, comparable to the female controls. In males, the median day of retrieving onset in the control and EB groups was over day 5 and day 4.5, respectively. No statistical difference was seen between the female and male controls. In contrast, there was a difference between the EB-treated female and EB male groups. Licking activity was less frequent than seen in the retrieving behavior among all groups, but there was no statistical difference among the groups. These results suggest that estrogen facilitates retrieving behavior in female, but not in male rats. TP and CM have no effect on retrieving behavior in female rats.  相似文献

Sequential bleeding and push-pull perfusion of the hypothalamus were used to characterize luteinizing hormone (LH) and LH-releasing hormone (LHRH) release in ovariectomized (OVX) ewes after injection of corn oil or estradiol benzoate (EB). Push-pull cannulae were surgically implanted into the stalk median eminences of 24 OVX ewes. Seven to 14 days later each of 20 animals was given an i.m. injection of 50 micrograms EB. Blood samples and push-pull perfusate were collected at 10-min intervals for 6-12 h beginning 12-15 h after EB injection. Four OVX ewes were given i.m. injections of corn oil 7 days after implantation of push-pull cannulae. Blood samples and push-pull perfusate were collected at 10-min intervals for 4 h between 18 and 22 h after injection of corn oil. Luteinizing hormone remained below 2 ng/ml throughout most of the sampling periods in 9 of 20 EB-treated ewes. In 5 of these 9 LHRH also was undetectable, whereas in 4 LHRH was detectable (1.84 +/- 0.29 pg/10 min), but did not increase with time. Preovulatory-like surges of LH occurred in 11 EB-treated ewes, but LHRH was undetectable in 5. In 4 of 6 ewes showing LH surges and detectable LHRH, sampling occurred during the onset of the LH surge.(ABSTRACT TRUNCATED AT 250 WORDS)  相似文献

We hypothesized that estrogen administration would attenuate skeletal muscle neutrophil infiltration, indices of muscle membrane disruption, and muscle calpain activity shortly after the termination of exercise. Ovariectomized female rats were implanted with either an estogen pellet (25 mg beta-estradiol) or a placebo pellet. Two weeks postimplant, animals were killed either at rest or 1 h after running exercise (60 min at 21 m x min(-1), 12% grade). The 4 experimental groups (n = 12) used were: unexercised placebo (UP), unexercised estrogen (UE), exercised placebo (EP), and exercised estrogen (EE). Blood samples were analyzed for creatine kinase (CK) activity and estradiol content. Plantaris and gastrocnemius muscles were removed and histochemical determination of neutrophil content or biochemical determination of myeloperoxidase (MPO), glucose-6-phosphate dehydrogenase (G6PD), and calpain-like activity determined. Estrogen supplemented animals had 10-20-fold higher circulating estradiol levels than placebo animals. EP animals had significantly higher (P < 0.05) circulating CK activities than EE or unexercised animals. Muscle neutrophil concentrations were significantly (P < 0.01) elevated in EP and EE groups compared with unexercised controls, with EP muscle neutrophil levels also being over 60% greater (P < 0.05) than in EE animals. EP animals also had higher (P < 0.05) muscle MPO activities than unexercised or EE animals. Muscle G6PD activities were not significantly different between any groups. Muscle caplain-like activities were 80% higher (P < 0.01) in EP animals than EE animals with calpain-like activities in EE animals similar to unexercised groups. These results indicate that estrogen supplementation in ovariectomized rats attenuated 1-h post-exercise serum CK activities, muscle neutrophil infiltration, MPO activities, and calpain-like activities when compared with exercised, unsupplemented animals. This supports the possibility of a relationship between estrogen, calpain dependent production of neutrophil chemo-attractant peptides, and 1-h post-exercise skeletal muscle neutrophil infiltration.  相似文献

Empathy is an important emotional process that involves the ability to recognize and share emotions with others. We have previously developed an observational fear learning (OFL) behavioral assay to measure empathic fear in mice. In the OFL task, a mouse is conditioned for context‐dependent fear when it observes a conspecific demonstrator receiving aversive stimuli. In the present study, by comparing 11 different inbred mouse strains that are commonly used in the laboratory, we found that empathic fear response was highly variable between different strains. Five strains – C57BL/6J, C57BL/6NTac, 129S1/SvImJ, 129S4/SvJae and BTBR T+ Itpr3tf/J – showed observational fear (OF) responses, whereas AKR/J, BALB/cByJ, C3H/HeJ, DBA/2J, FVB/NJ and NOD/ShiLtJ mice exhibited low empathic fear response. Importantly, day 2 OF memory was significantly correlated with contextual memory in the classical fear conditioning among the 11 strains. Innate differences in anxiety, locomotor activity, sociability and preference for social novelty were not significantly correlated with OFL. Interestingly, early adolescent C57BL/6J mice exhibited an increase in acquisition of OF. The level of OFL in C57BL/6J strain was not affected by sex or strains of the demonstrator. Taken together, these data strongly suggest that there are naturally occurring OFL‐specific genetic variations modulating empathic fear behaviors in mice. The identification of causal genes may uncover novel genetic pathways and underlying neural mechanisms that modulate empathic fear and, ultimately, provide new targets for therapeutic intervention in human mental disorders associated with impaired empathy.  相似文献

Gonadal steroids and their metabolites have been shown to be important modulators of emotional behavior. Allopregnanolone (ALLO), for example, is a metabolite of progesterone that has been linked to anxiety-related disorders such as posttraumatic stress disorder. In rodents, it has been shown to reduce anxiety in a number of behavioral paradigms including Pavlovian fear conditioning. We have recently found that expression of conditioned contextual (but not auditory) freezing in rats can be suppressed by infusion of ALLO into the bed nucleus of the stria terminalis (BNST). To further explore the nature of this effect, we infused ALLO into the BNST of male rats prior to both conditioning and testing. We found that suppression of contextual fear occurred when the hormone was present during either conditioning or testing but not during both procedures, suggesting that ALLO acts in a state-dependent manner within the BNST. A shift in interoceptive context during testing for animals conditioned under ALLO provided further support for this mechanism of hormonal action on contextual fear. Interestingly, infusions of ALLO into the basolateral amygdala produced a state-independent suppression of both conditioned contextual and auditory freezing. Altogether, these results suggest that ALLO can influence the acquisition and expression of fear memories by both state-dependent and state-independent mechanisms.  相似文献

We determined whether short-term, posthatch oral exposure to estradiol benzoate (EB) or the industrial surfactant octylphenol (OP) could impair the reproductive performance of zebra finches. If so, naturally occurring phytoestrogens and xenoestrogens might influence reproduction in wild populations. Chicks were given oral administration of 10 or 100 nmol EB per gram of body mass (earlier work showed the latter to be the minimum oral dose required to maximally masculinize female song nuclei) or an equimolar amount of OP daily from 5 through 11 days of age. Canola oil was used as a vehicle and control. Reproductive testing was done either in individual pair cages or in communal cages that permitted self-selection of mates, N = 10 pairs per group. Pairs consisted of EB-treated males and females, EB-treated males paired with canola-treated females, vice versa, and canola-treated males and females. Posthatch EB treatment produced sex-specific impairments in reproduction that, in some instances, were additive when both sexes were treated. Egg production was reduced and egg breakage was increased in 100 nmol/g EB-treated male and female pairs. The incidence of missing eggs was increased in 10 nmol/g EB-treated male and female pairs. Candled fertility was reduced in both groups containing 100 nmol/g EB-treated males. The number of hatched chicks was severely reduced in all EB-treated groups. No adverse effects of OP treatment were detected. These significant treatment effects (all P < 0.05) show that posthatch EB treatment profoundly disrupts the reproductive performance of zebra finches, suggesting that exposure to estrogens in the wild could impair the reproductive performance of wild populations.  相似文献

The light-dark box (LDB) and the open-field (OF) tests are widespread experimental models for studying locomotion and anxiety in laboratory rats and mice. The fact that rodents are nocturnal animals and more active at night raises a critical question of whether behavioral experiments carried out in the light phase are methodologically correct. Parameters of behavior of four mouse strains (C57BL/6J, DBA2/J, AKR/J and CBA/LacJ) in the light-dark box and open-field tests in the light and dark phases were compared. No significant influence of the phase of testing on anxiety in LDB and OF tests was revealed. In the OF test CBA mice showed increased locomotor activity, whereas AKR and C57BL/6 mice showed increased defecation in the dark phase. It was concluded that: 1) the phase of testing is not crucial for the expression of anxiety in LDB and OF; 2) the sensitivity to the phase of testing depends on the genotype; 3) the indices of behavior in the genotypes sensitive to the phase of testing (locomotion in the CBA and defecation in the AKR and C57BL/6 mouse strains) are increased in the dark phase.  相似文献

The pubertal increase in gonadotropins in the female rabbit was inhibited 14-42-fold with Silastic implants of progesterone (P4) testosterone propionate (TP), estradiol benzoate (EB) or P4/EB placed subcutaneously on Day 24 of life. Rabbits with empty implants showed the normal prepubertal increase in circulating gonadotropins. By contrast, rabbits with implants of P4 only, had a 2-fold decrease in LH secretion when peak areas were compared. However, FSH secretion though slightly depressed was not significantly different from controls. The prepubertal increase in circulating gonadotropins was completely suppressed by implants of EB, TP and combined P4/EB. At 115-days-of-age, sexual receptivity and mating were absent in EB-treated animals and significantly suppressed in P4-treated ones when compared to controls, all of which mated. Mating was not completely inhibited in TP and combined P4/EB animals. Corpora lutea were found in all rabbits that mated. In the sexually non-receptive does, vaginal stimulation induced an LH surge in 2 of 15 animals. Ovarian weights and follicular development were significantly suppressed in rabbits with EB implants. Ovarian estradiol content was significantly increased in P4- and TP-treated rabbits. Maximum specific binding for [3H]naloxone was suppressed in the hypothalami of P4-treated rabbits. These results suggest that the prepubertal increase in circulating gonadotropins may have an essential role in the control of sexual maturation in the female rabbit.  相似文献
