Greenhouse and field tests established that fenamiphos at 6.7 and 13.4 kg ai/ha applied in a 30-cm band directly on iris bulbs at planting effectively controlled Ditylenchus destructor. Aldicarb at rates of 5.6 to 11.2 kg ai/ha was less effective. Carbofuran, fensulfothion, and oxamyl at 6.7 to 13.4 kg ai/ha were ineffective. When applied on the bulbs, fenamiphos (granular or liquid) reduced nematode infection from 31 to 0.6% as determined by visual inspection of bulbs at harvest. Populations of D. destructor were reduced from 5.7 nematodes/g of fresh weight of bulb tissue to 0.04, 0.05, and 0.14 with applications of 13.4, 6.7, and 3.3 kg ai/ha fenamiphos, respectively. The most effective treatment was fenamiphos (granular or liquid) applied in a 30-cm band directly on the bulbs at time of planting.  相似文献

The ban and restriction on the use of several synthetic chemicals for controlling plant parasitic nematodes, and concern about their side effects necessitate the availability of effective methods of control with low toxicity to humans and non‐target organisms. Therefore, efficacy and mode of action of iprodione, a dicarboximide fungicide, was evaluated against the root‐knot nematode Meloidogyne incognita, in vitro and in vivo conditions, in comparison with the nematicides fenamiphos, fosthiazate and oxamyl at 7.00, 1.66 and 1.66 mL/5 L water, respectively. In vitro, iprodione showed nematostatic rather than nematicidal activity against second‐stage juveniles of M. incognita in contrast to fenamiphos, fosthiazate and oxamyl which were nematicidal. In the in vivo experiment with tomato, iprodione controlled M. incognita less than fenamiphos, fosthiazate and oxamyl. No visual symptoms of phytotoxicity were observed. Therefore, iprodione can be a useful chemical for controlling nematode populations if included in an Integrated Pest Management program.  相似文献

A single foliar application of oxamyl (12.5 μg) in acetone significantly reduced invasion of cucumber seedlings by Meloidogyne incognita juveniles for at least 21 days but did not affect the early stages of development of juveniles which had already invaded the roots. In contrast, application of oxamyl to the roots significantly reduced both invasion and development of juveniles. Concurrent studies using radiolabelled oxamyl showed that the amount of toxicant in the roots after 3 days was 13 times greater following root application than after foliar treatment. It is probable that oxamyl concentrates at the sites of nematode attack as an overall concentration of only 3 ng oxamyl g-1 root was sufficient to prevent invasion. Much greater concentrations than this were required to affect the nematode in vitro. Oxamyl appeared to be lost from the roots into the soil principally in the form of its non-toxic oxime and it is suggested that the site of action following foliar application is at the root surface or outer cortex. Studies on the invasion behaviour of M. incognita juveniles on agar showed that the action of oxamyl had a sensory component.  相似文献

Plantlets of coconut were cultured in vitro under three different ambient conditions including a standard culture room, a culture room inside a glasshouse with natural light but controlled temperature, and a standard glasshouse with natural light and natural fluctuations of temperature. Plantlets from the 3 treatments were compared in terms of growth, plant survival as well as net photosynthesis and efficiency of PSII (Fv/Fm ratio) both at the end of the in vitro stage and at 3 stages of ex vitro acclimatization. At the end of the in vitro stage, plantlets cultured in vitro under glasshouse conditions showed the best performance showing the highest photosynthesis rate, dry weight and number of leaves. Plantlets from the standard culture room showed the lowest photosynthesis and growth rate. After 6 months of ex vitro acclimatization, plantlets originally grown in vitro under glasshouse conditions maintained better field survival and growth rates in terms of fresh weight, dry weight and leaf number than plantlets originally grown in vitro in the standard culture room. Although more studies are required to define the reason for this effect, it is clear that the conditions of standard culture rooms are not the best for in vitro cultivation of coconut and perhaps other tropical species.  相似文献

Summary The interaction of pH (4 or 6), aluminium (0 or 16 ppm at pH 4) and N source (symbiotic or combined) on the growth and nutrient status of cowpea (Vigna unguiculata) was studied in a glasshouse experiment.Low pH significantly decreased the growth of the plants dependent on symbiotic nitrogen fixation but at pH 4 the addition of 16 ppm Al further depressed growth in both nitrogen regimes. Al-ions appear to exert their effect primarily on the root system, as shown by the reduction in total length and fresh weight. The symbiotic development of the plants was affected by low pH but more markedly by the Al treatment.Shoot nitrogen concentrations were reduced from ca. 2.6% at pH 6 to 1.8% and 0.9% at pH 4 without and with aluminium respectively. Calcium concentration was decreased by low pH and further by Al in both nitrogen regimes.In all Al-treated plants, the aluminium was mainly accumulated in the roots and was associated with an increase in their phosphorus concentration.  相似文献

The effect of a pre-planting application of oxamyl on the yields of six potato cultivars was studied in co-operative field trials in 1981. Two sites were ‘uninfested’ with potato cyst nematodes (PCN), two were lightly infested (<25 eggs/g soil) and six were moderately to heavily infested (three with Globodera rostochiensis and three with G. pallida). At the uninfested and lightly infested sites oxamyl had little effect on mid-season haulm weights or on final tuber yields. At sites moderately to heavily infested with G. rostochiensis the haulm growth of all cultivars tended to be increased by a similar amount on plots treated with oxamyl, Pentland Dell being least responsive. Yield was increased by different amounts, the increases being least for cvs Cara and Maris Piper and most for Corsair and Pentland Dell. At the sites moderately to heavily infested with G. pallida Cara was again tolerant, its yield being increased little by oxamyl compared with the other cultivars. Maris Piper gave the largest yield increase. Final populations of PCN on non-resistant cultivars were reduced by oxamyl at some sites but not at others. Resistant cultivars also decreased the final numbers of PCN at most sites. Two cultivars derived from Solanum vernei with different degrees of resistance, appeared to be almost equally effective in controlling G. rostochiensis and G. pallida.  相似文献

A series of experiments were conducted to evaluate the effect of oxamyl in combination with the soil fumigants 1,3-D, metam sodium and methyl bromide on nematode damage and fruit yield in vegetables. Experiments were conducted in Tifton, GA, USA over five seasons, between 2000 and 2002, using four different vegetables: squash (Cucurbita pepo), cucumber (Cucumis sativus), pepper (Capsicum annuum) and eggplant (Solanum melongend). In the eggplant experiment, insect populations were monitored. Soil fumigation alone, irrespective of application method or formulation, gave acceptable control of root-knot nematode in all experiments, except in the spring 2001 pepper experiment. Oxamyl by itself did not provide control of root-knot nematode (Meloidogyne incognita), but insect populations on eggplant were reduced. Out of three experiments that included oxamyl by itself, root galling caused by Meloidogyne spp. was reduced only on eggplant when nematode pressure was low (five nematodes per 150 cm3 soil). When oxamyl was applied in combination with pre-plant soil fumigation, small but consistent reductions in root galling were observed. Greatest reductions in galling due to oxamyl were found when fumigation provided less than optimal nematode control. The timing of application of oxamyl did not have much impact on nematode infection, but applications early in the season, preferably starting at planting, appear to be beneficial. Stubby root nematode (Paratrichodorus spp.) populations were low and variable in most experiments, but neither fumigation nor post-plant nematicide applications seemed to have any effect on soil populations at harvest. Crop yields were often significantly greater when oxamyl followed fumigation, as compared to fumigation only, which could be due to a reduction in root-knot nematode damage (and in the case of eggplant also reduced foliar damage by insects), and/or to a carbamate growth stimulant response. These experiments indicate the potential of oxamyl to reduce root-knot nematode infection and increase yields of vegetables when combined with soil fumigation by 1,3-D and/or metam sodium. More research is required to understand the effect of crop type, pest pressure, preceding fumigant (1,3-D or metam sodium) and injection timing of oxamyl.  相似文献

The effects of oxamyl applied to the seedbed and growing partially resistant potatoes in controlling potato pale cyst-nematode, Globodera pallida, were assessed in eleven field experiments on sandy, peaty and silty loam soils in England from 1986 to 1988. Standardised procedures allowed valid comparisons to be made between data from the three experiments in 1987 and from the seven experiments in 1988. In soil moderately or heavily infested with G. pallida, oxamyl frequently increased tuber yields of susceptible cv. Désirée and of partially resistant potatoes and lessened crude nematode increase (Pf/Pi) significantly at some sites but not at others. Although 2.8 kg oxamyl ha“1 often increased tuber yields significantly, it was significantly less effective than 5.6 kg in controlling G. pallida at one site and at another site G. pallida increased more than in untreated plots. Potatoes partially resistant to G. pallida were more effective that oxamyl in controlling nematode increase at some sites but not at others. Combined use of oxamyl and partially resistant potatoes was generally more effective in controlling G. pallida than either measure alone. As measured by a ‘control coefficient’ (weight of tubers over 40mm diameter (t ha“1) 4-crude nematode increase (Pf/Pi)), the most effective integrated control of G. pallida was obtained by growing cvs Glenna, Morag or Santé in soil treated with 5.6 kg oxamyl ha-1.  相似文献

An isolate of Trichoderma virens Miller, Giddens & Foster, carboxin and a combination of both were evaluated for the control of gladiolus corm rot and wilt caused by Fusarium oxysporum f.sp. gladioli in glasshouse and field experiments. All treatments significantly reduced disease incidence in both glasshouse and field conditions. T. virens gave control at least as good as carboxin in all experiments. Control was significantly improved in two field experiments by combining the biological and chemical treatments.  相似文献

Mushroom compost was treated with nematicides and infested with Aphelenchoides composticola at the time of filling into growing containers. Yields of mushrooms from infested untreated control composts were reduced to 40–60% of yields from uninfested control compost. Yields from infested compost treated with fenamiphos emulsifiable concentrate (e.c.) at 10 or 20 mg a.i./kg, thiabendazole wettable powder at 40 or 60 mg a.i./kg or oxamyl granules at 20 mg a.i./kg were as high as from uninfested controls. Compost treated with granules of AC 64,475 up to 20 mg a.i./kg or ethoprophos or thionazin up to 80 mg a.i./kg gave yields significantly lower than uninfested controls. Numbers of nematodes rose to about 106/20 g of compost in untreated compost and then fell, and a similar peak occurred in treatments in which yields were substantially reduced by nematode damage. Treatments which yielded as well as the uninfested controls held maximum nematode numbers down to about 10V20 g of compost but populations stayed at this level or tended to rise while numbers in untreated compost fell. Incorporation of fenamiphos in casing or its application to the surface of beds 3 wk after cropping began gave lower yields than the uninfested control but mushrooms were being produced late in the cropping cycle. Fenamiphos e.c. at 20 mg ai./kg incorporated in compost is considered a practical preventive measure for control of A. composticola.  相似文献

Abstract A study of the growth of the maritime halophyte Aster tripolium L. has been carried out over a range of salinity treatments. The regression approach to growth analysis using frequent small harvests has been used to allow ‘continuous’ measurement of growth over a period of 36 d. Salinity was applied with the major ions present in ratios typical of those found in seawater. Growth was inhibited in terms of both dry weight production and leaf expansion at salinity levels equivalent to 0.625 strength sea water (full culture solution 300) and above, with the greatest effect being seen in terms of leaf area. Aster tripolium did not show increased succulence at high salinity, leaf fresh weight to dry weight ratio in fact declined, whilst leaf fresh weight per unit area remained constant. It should be noted that the plants exhibit low growth rates due to the low light intensity used.  相似文献

The use of supplementary foliar N, P and K to ameliorate the reduced nutrient uptake of potato plants infected by potato cyst nematode (PCN) were investigated. The potato cv. Pentland Dell achieved yields in plots not treated with oxamyl similar to those found in plots treated with oxamyl when supplementary foliar N or N plus K was applied to plots infested with 13 eggs g-1 soil of Globodera pallida. Yield improvements from foliar N applications were attributed to increased leaf area index but the reason for yield increases from foliar N plus K applications could not be clarified. In a second experiment, where PCN infestation was 76 eggs g-l soil, the potato cv. Sante gave yields up to 19% higher than a standard fertiliser practice when supplementary foliar N was applied to plots not treated with oxamyl. Nutrient analysis showed that without oxamyl there were significantly lower concentrations of N, P and K in whole plant dry matter at 58 days after planting (DAP) but higher levels of N in the fourth leaf dry matter at 98 DAP. Emergence was significantly advanced by the use of oxamyl in both experiments. Sante dramatically reduced populations of Globodera rostochiensis from an average of 76 eggs g-1 soil to 7 eggs g-1 soil. Foliar application of nutrients is a promising method of ameliorating the effects on potatoes of PCN invasion but the nutrient concentrations and timing of individual sprays need to be more closely matched to crop requirement than was possible in our experiments  相似文献

A glasshouse and field trial were conducted to evaluate foliar sprays of Contans® WG (Coniothyrium minitans) conidial suspensions for control of sclerotinia rot of carrot and infection of Sclerotinia sclerotiorum sclerotia by C. minitans. In the glasshouse trial, foliar sprays (1×104–108 conidia mL?1) decreased the viability of sclerotia recovered from diseased plants and increased infection by C. minitans. In the field trial, three successive foliar sprays applied at 14-day intervals failed to reduce foliage disease severity, but significantly reduced viability of sclerotia recovered from diseased plants/crop debris and increased infection by C. minitans. No significant differences in sclerotial viability or infection were observed between two conidial concentrations (2.4 and 4.8×106 conidia mL?1). Foliar sprays of Contans® WG have potential for reducing viability of sclerotia produced on diseased foliage.  相似文献

A pot experiment was conducted to evaluate the influence of certain oil-seed cakes i.e. fennel, sesame, anise or plant dry seed powder of red pepper as soil amendments in comparison with oxamyl or urea on controlling Meloidogyne incognita infecting eggplant seedlings under greenhouse conditions at 27 ± 5°C. Results indicated that all tested materials significantly improved the growth of eggplant and suppressing the number of galls, females and egg masses of M. incognita as compared to nematode alone. Moreover, anise oil-cake gave the best growth of total plant fresh and dry shoot weights as percentage increase (160.8 and 64%) followed by sesame oil-cake (143.5 and 64%), respectively. However, the highest values of percentage reduction for number of galls (64.2%), females (58.5%) and egg masses (55.7%) on eggplant roots were achieved by sesame-oil-cake application, followed by anise-oil-cake treatment with values of 63.0, 59.6 and 51.1% for the same nematode criteria, respectively. Meanwhile, oxamyl or urea treatment showed remarkable reduction percentages for nematode parameters tested.  相似文献

The effect of rate of nitrogen applied to three Lolium perenne-based field swards on the development of RMV symptoms and on the impact of the virus on the growth and composition of the swards was examined over two growing seasons. Glasshouse experiments investigated the competition between Lolium spp. in relation to RMV infection and rate of nitrogen. In general, there was a higher incidence of RMV symptoms at the higher rates of nitrogen but the relationship was not consistent in all experiments. RMV infection only significantly reduced the cumulative total yield of the sward that contained the very susceptible Lolium multiflorum cv. Barverdi and was treated with the higher rate of nitrogen. However, yield losses were consistently greater at the higher rates of nitrogen. RMV altered the relative yields of sward components and the effect was greatest after an extended period of severe frost at the end of 1995. There is evidence that the frost severely restricted the yield of RMV-infected L. multiflorum tillers in 1996. Where RMV reduced the yield of susceptible species, there was significant compensatory growth by less susceptible companion species, i.e. L. perenne and Phleum pratense, but the compensation was generally incomplete, resulting in reduced yields for virus-infected swards. RMV had no significant effect on the overall quality of the three field swards but for cv. Barverdi grown in the glasshouse it significantly reduced the percentage organic matter and water soluble carbohydrate, and D value. The reductions were greater at the higher rates of nitrogen.  相似文献

In glasshouse experiments, isolates of Fusarium nivale, applied as mycelial macerates, caused marked reductions in the number and length of roots, and in the height and fresh weight of S. 321 perennial ryegrass seedlings. Spore inocula failed to cause infection. Damage by F. nivale was increased when inoculation was immediately followed by four alternate 12 h periods in a growth cabinet at 0°C and in a warm glasshouse at c. 17°C, succeeded by a further 11 days in the same glasshouse. Although inoculated seedlings receiving no cold treatments initially showed damage, regrowth of roots and some recovery of the shoots occurred in a fortnight. Exposure of the plants after that time to four intermittent 12 h periods at 0°C, however, arrested their recovery and caused further root damage. The implication of these results in the importance of low temperature in the winterkill syndrome is discussed.  相似文献

The population dynamics of the citrus nematode, Tylenchulus semipenetrans, on navel orange trees was studied from January 2012 to September 2012. The highest population of the citrus nematode appeared in May 2012 in the soil of navel orange trees, and the highest nematode population in roots appeared in August in the same year. Control of the citrus nematode by using smashed garlic cloves, powders of olive leaves and orange peels, an organic manure, chicken litter, either alone or in combination with a biocide, and sincocin compared to two nematicides, fenamiphos 10%G and oxamyl 24%L, was carried out in April 2012 .The best results for controlling the citrus nematode were obtained four months after the addition of the tested materials in soil; the highest nematode percentages reduction obtained were 90.9%, for smashed garlic cloves, and 72.8%, for chicken litter. On roots, the best results were 92.3% for garlic cloves and 92.0% for oxamyl, one month after application. The concomitant treatments of sincocin plus garlic clove or sicocin plus chicken litter were most effective in managing T. semipenetrans on navel orange trees after four and five months of application.  相似文献

Six systemic fungicides were applied at growth stage 10 in a spring-barley field trial, artificially inoculated with Selenophoma donacis at each of three growth stages. Barley cultivars used were Mazurka and Zephyr. The level of disease was significantly reduced by the application of chemicals, benomyl and thiophanate methyl giving the best control. Yield results did not reflect the control of disease although benomyl and thiophanate methyl applications gave slight increases in 1000 grain weight and mean yield per head. Three of the fungicides caused some phytotoxicity in cv. Zephyr and prevented grain formation.  相似文献

The two species of the potato cyst nematodes (PCN) Globodera pallida and G rostochiensis are the most problematic pests of the potato crop in the UK. There are no commercially available cultivars with full resistance to G. pallida and both crop rotation and granular nematicides are less effective at controlling this species than G. rostochiensis. In situations of very high PCN levels it may be possible to reduce populations and yield losses by using an autumn application of the soil fumigant 1,3-dichloropropene (1,3-D) followed by a spring application of a granular nematicide. Two field experiments were done to look at the integration of methods for the control of PCN. The Common Field experiment (G. rostochiensis infested) compared the use of 1,3-D with the granular nematicides aldicarb, oxamyl and fosthiazate when growing the susceptible cv. Estima. The Four Gates experiment (infested with both PCN species but mainly G rostochiensis) compared the performance of cv. Santé (partially resistant to G. pallida, fully resistant to G. rostochiensis) with that of the susceptible cv. Estima when treated with 1,3-D and oxamyl at full and half-rates. The results of the experiments show that an integrated approach to nematode control on heavily infested sites, including granular and fumigant nematicides and cultivar resistance, can lead to significant decreases in nematode population densities and reduce yield losses. An economic evaluation of the experiments modelled the gross margins from the different nematicide treatments. In Common Field, the highest gross margins were achieved with the combined use of fumigant and granular nematicides. In Four Gates, there was a clear economic benefit for both cultivars from the use of 1,3-D. In this experiment, oxamyl was of economic value to Estima but not to Sante and full-rate oxamyl was of more benefit than half-rate to Estima.  相似文献

Oxamyl (6.25 μg ml-1 soil water) was applied to cucumber roots containing Meloidogyne incognita at different stages of nematode development. Oxamyl was more effective in reducing the proportion of juveniles which developed into females when applied soon after infection to second stage juveniles than when applied later (to third and fourth stage juveniles). Early application of oxamyl also significantly reduced the proportion of females with egg masses, whereas late application had no such effect. However, the number of eggs per egg mass and the size of the young adult females was significantly reduced by all oxamyl treatments - the earlier the application the greater the effect. These results support the hypothesis that actively feeding second stage juveniles of Meloidogyne spp. are more susceptible to systemic nematicides than are the non-feeding third and fourth stage juveniles.  相似文献
