POTAMOPYRGUS ANTIPODARUM--A MOLLUSCAN COLONISER OF EUROPE AND AUSTRALIA   总被引:1,自引:0,他引:1  
The hydrobiid gastropod genus Potamopyrgus is shown to be representedin Australia by the New Zealand species P. antipodarum (Gray).It is widely distributed in south eastern Australia and Tasmaniafollowing its introduction about the middle of the last century.The Australian populations of Potamopyrgus were known, incorrectly,as P. niger, because of a misinterpretation of Paludina nigraQuoy & Gai-mard, 1835. Paludina nigra, here placed in thegenus Fluvidona, is redescribed and a neotype designated. Potamopyrgusantipodarum has also been introduced to Europe, where it isknown as P. jenkinsi (Smith) (Received 19 August 1987; accepted 16 December 1987)  相似文献

A new ovoviviparous littorinid gastropod, Tectarius (Echininiopsis)niuensis, from Niue, west of the Cook Islands, is described.This is distinguished from the only other ovoviviparous memberof the genus, T. (E.) viviparus (Rosewater, 1982) from the MarianaIslands, here redescribed in detail. The new species is remarkabletor its high-level habitat in the littoral fringe on wave-exposedkarstic limestone cliffs, for its variation in shell shape accordingto tidal level, shell colour polymorphism, calcified operculumand penis with a single mamilliform penial gland. In a cladisticanalysis of morphological characters, including single representativesof each of the three other subgenera of Tectarius (Tectarius,Echininus, Tectininus), these two ovoviviparous species appearas sister-taxa. This is confirmed by a molecular phylogeneticanalysis of the same species, based on the sequence of a portionof the 16S ribosomal RNA mitochondrial gene. Neither analysisunequivocally confirms the monophyly of Tectarius. The divergenceof DNA sequences within Tectarius suggests that the genus arosein the Upper Cretaceous, much earlier than the oldest (UpperEocene) fossils. Only 4 of the 175 species of Littorinidae areknown to be ovoviviparous (with brooding through metamorphosis)and the possible adaptive significance of this type of developmentis discussed. Hitherto, its rarity had been explained by earlyextinction of poorly-dispersed brooding taxa. However, ovoviviparitymay have persisted in Echininiopsis for at least 35 millionyears, and has not precluded colonization of islands 6300kmapart. Two new species of planlctonic copepods are described: Oncaearufa and O. platysetosa. The former is characterised by thelong setae of the fifth leg, the latter by the numerous modifiedsetae on the appendages and caudal rami. Oncaea atlantica whichis closely related to O. platysetosa, is redescribed from newmaterial, also collected in the central and northern Red Sea.  相似文献

Eighteen species of the genus Oncaea, four of them polymorphic,have been collected from the inshore and offshore waters ofthe Lebanon. Three species are new additions to the Mediterraneanfaunal list, O.shmelevi, O.pumilis and O.rufa. The males ofthree poorly described species, O.bathyalis, O.ovalis and O.similis,the female of O.shmelevi and both sexes of O.tenella are redescribed.Oncaea media and O.mediterranea were the two most common representativesof the genus in the study area. Oncaea were most abundant inDecember and January and between March and May; they were mainlymesopelagic and oceanic. Many of the species recorded here havecosmopolitan distributions; some of the smaller ones are lesswell-known, but may prove in time to be as widespread as thelarger taxa.  相似文献

Microcalorimetric analysis of heat-production by single intactsporophylls from thermogenic male cones of two cycad species(Ceratozamia miqueliana H. Wendl. and Zamia furfuracea L. f.)showed an oscillatory behaviour for three consecutive days duringpollen maturation and shedding. In sporophylls from C. rumphiiMiq., a weakly thermogenic species with no maximum of heat-production,such oscillations were not detected. The presence of the alternativerespiratory pathway in the sporophylls of the male cones ofZamia pumila L. has been demonstrated. The endogenous cytokinins in cones of the hop plant (Humuluslupulus L. cv. Shinshuwase) were identified by combined gaschromatography and selected ion current monitoring (GC-SIM)and high performance liquid chromatography as ribosyl-cis-zeatin,ribosyl-trans-zeatin, cis-zeatin, trans-zeatin and ribosyl-trans-zeatin-O-glucoside.The contents of these cytokinins in both fertilized and unfertilizedcones at various growth stages were determined using GC-SIMand/or bioassay. Based on these data, the rapid growth of thefertilized cone is attributed mainly to ribosyl-trans-zeatinwhich accumulates mostly in the seed. Ribosyl-cis-zeatin wasfound in both fertilized and unfertilized cones. In the latter,ribosyl-cis-zeatin was quantitatively a major cytokinin andseemed to cooperate with ribosyl-trans-zeatin and trans-zeatinin promoting the growth. The aeolid nudibranch genus Phyllodesmium (Mollusca: Gastropoda)is reviewed, three new species are described and further informationon the biology, anatomy and distribution on the eight previouslyknown species is reported. The genus Ennoia Bergh, 1896 is considereda synonym of Phyllodesmium and the type species Ennoia briareusredescribed. The genus Phyllodesmium is unique amongst the aeolidsin feeding on octocoral cnidarians. This has led to the evolutionof nudibranch- zooxanthellae symbioses, zooanthellae being obtainedfrom the octocoral prey. The developmental morphology and anatomy of the female conesof Acmopyle pancheri(Brongn. & Gris) Pilg. (Podocarpaceae)are described and illustrated, based on observations, histology,scanning electron microscopy (SEM) and nuclear magnetic resonance(NMR) imaging. Ovulate development is typically podocarpaceous.Ovules are unitegmic, and horizontal or inclined upwards throughoutontogeny; the pollination drop is inverted because of the declinatemicropyle. Ontogeny of the epimatium-ovule complex is acropetal,the epimatium developing first. A terminal, distal sterile bractcreates a pollen-scavenging area. During development, the wholecone re-orientates through some 270°, and the seed realignsapprox. 60° with respect to the receptacle axis. The ‘receptacle’or podocarpium supporting the seed is formed by gradual fusionof initially free bracts. The structures adnate to these bractsrepresent homologues of ovuliferous scales; they bear vestigialepimatia which may develop into supernumerary ovules or non-functionalepimatia. 记述了实小卷蛾属 (小卷蛾亚科,花小卷蛾族)的一个新种,黄杉实小卷蛾Retinia pseudotsugaicola Liu et Wu, sp. nov.。其幼虫危害黄杉Pseudotsuga sinensis Dode的球果,在云南省禄劝县云龙乡球果受害率达80%~90%。该新种雄性外生殖器的抱器瓣在腹面中央凹陷很深,抱器腹拐角几乎呈直角,抱器端的腹角尖,可与该属其它种相区别。该新种的雌性外生殖器与松实小卷蛾R.cristata很相似,但成虫的花纹完全不同,该新种前翅的中横带很宽,且布满了灰绿色和灰黄色的云状纹,而松实小卷蛾前翅的中横带则较窄,翅端有明显的肛上纹。在昆明禄劝县一年发生1代,以蛹在球果中越冬。越冬蛹于翌年3月下旬开始羽化。4月上旬至7月下旬是幼虫危害期。老熟幼虫7月下旬开始陆续化蛹越冬。提供了成虫外形、翅脉、雌雄外生殖器解剖图及幼虫的毛序图。模式标本保存在中国科学院动物研究所。  相似文献

The family Tropiduchidae is revised taxonomically comprising five genera and five species from Korea. Catullia vittata Matsumura is redescribed here on the basis of a series of males recently collected in Korea. Cixiopsis punctatus Matsumura and Catullia vittata Matsumura were transferred from Achilidae to Tropiduchidae and are redescribed here with male genitalia for the first time from Korea. Ommatissus binatatus Fieber previously reported was an incorrect identification of Ommatissus lofouensis Muir. Another species, Trypetimorpha koreana Kwon and Lee, is the macropterous form of Trypetimorpha japonica Ishihara. All Korean species of the Tropiduchidae are redescribed and illustrated, and an identification key to the genera of Tropiduchidae is provided.  相似文献

This paper deals with the anatomy of two- and three-ovulatecone scales which are found occasionally in the cones of A.Bidwillii. The manner in which each ovule receives its vascularsupply from bundles lateral to the ovule is discussed, togetherwith a hypothetically primitive type of araucarian cone scalewith three ovules possibly resembling the fossil Schizolepis.The interpretation of the vascular system of the scales as givenin this paper is a correction of that presented in the firstpaper of this series by the same authors.  相似文献
